Spoiler-Free Review of “Black Friday” on Demand: Not all deals are worth it…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Black Friday…what a bunch of suckers…”

Black Friday premiered on demand on November 23rd 2021. The sci-fi horror comedy film stars Devon Sawa, Bruce Campbell, Ivana Baquero, Michael Jai White and Ryan Lee. It runs for just under 90 minutes.

On Thanksgiving night, a group of unhappy employees prepare for another chaotic Black Friday when an alien parasite attempts to make the shoppers entering the store even more obnoxious and dangerous, as they desperately try to make it out of the store alive.

Here is the trailer:

Black Friday has great timing with its release and could be horror comedy gold, especially with Bruce Campbell and Devon Sawa leading the way, but does it do enough to earn a watch just in time for those infamous door-busters? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

The perfect cast!

I’d pretty much watch anything starring Bruce Campbell and Devon Sawa and was already sold before this movie even came out. They are both horror comedy icons to me. Army of Darkness and Idle Hands are two of my favorite films so I thought this was a dream team and then some!

The rest of the cast was truly fantastic as well and I thought everyone really played their parts well, which helped me root for these characters that much more.

Solid balance between comedy and horror.

I’ve seen a lot of similar movies and sometimes they really deliver and other times they miss the mark. I genuinely found this movie laugh out loud funny and I also thought the sci-fi horror worked too. It’s not easy finding a balance and somehow this film found the perfect one and I have a feeling I will be watching this film annually around the holidays because it was so entertaining!

The Cons:

Mixed feelings on the ending…

It wasn’t bad by any means, but I guess I was expecting something a little bit different and when I got to the very end, I still wanted more. There were some moments that didn’t really make any sense to me and the big reveal was lacking a little, but I still enjoyed the movie overall.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!

Black Friday is a worthy entry into the horror-comedy genre and it really had a lot of fantastic stand-out moments that make this film worth a watch. The cast was exceptional and I loved the relevant humor.

If you’re looking for a new holiday horror favorite, you’re in the right place, but you may want to think twice about those tempting sales…

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Black Friday in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

This competition is killer…

When former friends, Shay and Adriana team up to participate in a Halloween scavenger hunt with a cash prize, they temporarily put their differences aside to outsmart their opponents. However, they soon start to realize that a dangerous threat is playing their own version of the game, stalking them during each hunt.

Winning is now a necessity as their lives are at stake. As old wounds and memories re-surface, Shay and Adriana attempt to unmask the threat before the night is over, but soon learn that Scream Hunt is not done with them just yet…

My new young adult horror thriller is out now! I hope you enjoy!
