Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 5: “Nightmare Logic”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 5, I learned that it is possible for your parents to over share even though you want them to be happy.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Nightmare Logic,” Sam and Dean are concerned about a hunter named Maggie who goes missing.  Meanwhile, sparks fly between other Bobby and Mary and more of Michael’s plan is revealed.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 5 are:

5

“We got a shot at bringing her back home.”

In the beginning of the episode, we learn that Maggie has gone missing, but Sam has incorporated some tech savvy equipment to help track her down.  Maggie was attacked by a ghoul, which is confusing to Sam and Dean, especially since ghouls don’t typically attack the living.  Either way, they are ready to track down the lead and try and help save her before it’s too late.

4

“You gotta be kidding me.”

After Sam and Dean pretend to be from the historical society to get some more information, they are in for a surprise when they learn that other Bobby and Mary have already arrived.  Sure enough they are claiming to be from the exact same historical society, but I guess great minds really do think alike.  Although other Bobby does point out that the “main office is run by bunch of idjits.”

3

“I’m doing what you told me to.”

Dean soon realizes that they are dealing with a Djinn, which we have seen before on earlier episodes.  Dean has had his own fair share of encounters with them and he does not take this threat lightly.  The Djinn is under the impression that Dean is still Michael and is confused, explaining that he is just carrying out his orders.  We learn that Michael is enlisting monsters to take out hunters, which puts the Winchester brothers in serious danger along with some of their closest friends and family members.  The Djinn further explains that he was promised an “upgrade” if he was able to follow through, which furthers the idea that Michael is interested in creating a world of super monsters, but what does he gain by doing so?

2

“You are not allowed to give up on me.”

Mary has a nice chat with Sam and opens up about her feelings for other Bobby.  Perhaps she is over sharing a little bit too much, as Sam seems slightly uncomfortable, but ultimately he does want his mother to be happy.  Later in the episode, the sparks continue to fly and Bobby opens up to Mary about losing his son.  While I’m still not sure how I feel about these two just yet, it would be nice for someone to get a chance at living happily ever after.  We’ll have to stay tuned to see how this unfolds, however.

1

“You did this.”

Sam and Dean are able to rescue Maggie and everyone is so excited to see them return home safely.  Dean reminds Sam, “You did this.”  Dean may not have been that impressed by Sam’s “Hunter Five-0” approach initially, but he now sees that his brother is truly making a difference.  Sam reminds Dean again that he is not to blame for Michael’s actions and we are once again set up for that plot to continue.  Overall, I was slightly underwhelmed by the episode.  Not that much happened and it paled in comparison to last week’s super fun Halloween episode.  Let’s hope that we can get back on track now and enjoy some fun times with our favorite brothers on television.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 4: “A Fantasy Land at Our Fingertips”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 4, we got a fun throwback to The Breakfast Club with a familiar guest star, fabulous outfits, and some epic music.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty-Nine:  The Midnight Club,” Hermione announces that “Griffins and Gargoyles” has been officially banned, but this doesn’t stop the obsession with the game.  Meanwhile, Alice opens up to Betty about her personal connection to the game, presenting us with an entertaining flashback that will have you seeing your favorite characters in a new light.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 4 are:

5

“Stay away from this game.”

In an effort to protect everyone, Hermione Lodge announces that she is officially banning “Griffins and Gargoyles.”  Only Veronica rightfully points out, “Newsflash Mom, banning something only makes it more interesting.”  Now that the player’s manual has spread all over town, everyone is intrigued by this new game, unaware of the dark consequences that come along with it.  Betty and Veronica have no interest in playing the game, but some of their loved ones may quickly find themselves caught in a web of obsession.

4

“The world was a different place and we were very different people.”

Alice finally agrees to provide Betty with the truth and her story transitions us into a very different world indeed.  Inspired by the film, The Breakfast Club, we get to envision the parents of Riverdale as teenagers, played by many of their own children.  I thought that this was a really fun and clever way to gain our interest in the story.  Plus we get to see Cheryl rocking some adorable glasses and Betty trading in her preppy style for a bad-ass leather jacket.  The characters are all connected when they wind up in Saturday detention together and a group of strangers find themselves having quite a bit in common, as they all bond together.  Anthony Michael Hall guest stars as Principal Featherhead and we learn that Penelope Blossom was always caught in the middle of a cat fight or two.  During the flashback, we learn that the group found “Griffins and Gargoyles” in their teacher’s desk.  The game seemed like a convenient solution to boredom for the group, but the harmless game quickly turned into a “maddening obsession with the roll of a dice.”

3

“I’m lost.”

During the flashback, we witness a touching scene between young Alice and young Fred.  Alice had just found out that she was pregnant and she confided in Fred about feeling lost and needing an escape from her life.  Alice explained that the game allowed her to do so, but that when the game was over, she was just her again.  This moment is heartwarming on its own, but it also reveals that there has always been some kind of chemistry present between Alice and Fred and perhaps between Betty and Archie as well.  Even though these romantic potential relationships shift toward a friendship instead, one cannot ignore the sweet moment presented here.

2

“Forever to the grave.”

After the group decided to have an “Ascension Party” and play the game “off board,” things started to go horribly wrong.  Alice thought she saw the same creature that Betty did and Principal Featherhead winds up dead.  Even though his death was ruled a suicide, it’s clear that someone poisoned him, utilizing the game to do so.  Everyone was high on “fizzle rocks” except for Alice, but they all realized that they could never speak about the game again.  They all made a pact to keep it a secret and go their separate ways.  Even though their friendships were over, they were still all tied together forever by this horrible secret.

1

“We can’t be silent anymore.”

After flashing back to present day, Betty asks, “Who poisoned the cups?”  Alice is convinced that one of them was a murderer and that Principal Featherhead was an innocent casualty, but who was it and why is that person bringing the game back now after all this time?  We still have a lot to learn, but Betty cannot stay away from this investigation despite her mother’s warning.  Betty promises her that she will not play the game, but she soon stumbles upon Jughead playing it, who is now fixated on it.  His obsession is obvious and it looks like Betty will need to figure out something fast before she loses Jughead.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” season 8 episode 9: “It’s Time For The Apocalypse”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the FX network’s American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 9 last night, a lot of our unanswered questions have finally been answered, but we still have a lot left to cover in next week’s finale.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Fire and Reign,” Michael takes the attack directly to the coven, two “coked up nerds” plot the end of the world, and Mallory’s powers are put to the test.  We also continue to get some fun Easter eggs along the way.  My top 5 moments from American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 9 are:

5

“Well Satan might want to get a paternity test.”

In this episode, we continue to catch up with Jeff and Mutt, played by Peters and Eichner, who are not that impressed with the Antichrist, Michael Langdon.  Jeff hilariously makes fun of Langdon and mocks him saying, “I don’t know what I am supposed to do” and Mutt hilariously points out that Jesus didn’t have it easy either and “that’s why he went to the desert bro.”  We know that Billy Eichner’s other character, Brock, ends up in the wasteland for quite some time as well.  Ms. Venable also gets some more screen time in this episode and is clearly looking for more responsibility, as important as booking the “mile high escorts” is.  Even though her personality is not the warmest, Jeff and Mutt do recognize how much she has done for them and tell her that they want to save her and have her lead her very own Outpost in the apocalypse.  And so we continue connecting the dots.

4

“They’re just gone.”

Michael is still filled with rage and anger, desperately looking to take his revenge out on the witches.  Dinah sells out the witches for a 13 episode talk show, which is amusing because AHS used to be 13 episodes that sometimes had the tendency to drag toward the end.  This season, we will only get 10 episodes, but I’m now wondering if that is truly enough time to wrap everything up.  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.  Michael puts Ms. Mead to work and she whips out her shotgun arm, taking out Zoe and Queenie, explaining why we do not see them in the future with the other witches.  Cordelia is beyond devastated, especially when she tries to tap into their souls and finds nothing.  Madison conveniently takes this time to explain what she witnessed Michael do back in Murder House and Cordelia realizes that she needs to figure out something fast to protect the rest of her girls.  It is also important to note that Misty was conveniently not in this episode but still mentioned, hinting that perhaps the mud surrounding the swamps could be used for Cordelia’s spell to help hide and protect her girls in the future.

3

“This sounds like the plot of The Omen 3.”

We learn that nerds, or “coked up nerds” in this case, can really take over the world.  Jeff and Mutt use Ms. Mead to communicate with Michael.  They are unimpressed with his desire to run for president and hilariously point out that this sounds like the plot of one of The Omen movies.  After all, Michael does not have too much material to work with on how to be the Antichrist.  Maybe someone can get him a How To guide?  Jeff and Mutt decide that they want to destroy the world instead and use Ms. Mead to convince Michael to jump on the bandwagon, proving that manipulation can be an extremely powerful skill.

2

“This bitch can travel through time?”

As Cordelia recognizes the very real threat against her coven, she explains to Mallory that she must survive, recognizing that Mallory may be the only witch who can truly get them out of this.  Mallory wants to help her sisters, but the test on her powers is dangerous and could lead to death.  Myrtle points out that it will be like the “blind leading the blind,” referencing that Cordelia was once blind herself, as they try to help Mallory go back in time to save Anastasia, the daughter of Alexei Nikolaevich.  You may know about Anastasia from history or from the beloved animated classic, but this version of Anastasia possessed some kind of magical abilities, only they were not strong enough to protect her family.  In history, there was a lot of mystery that surrounded Anastasia’s death, as many impostors claimed to be her.  She was also known as “The Lost Princess,” which connects back to Mallory.  Mallory goes back in time to try and help her, but fails.  She is brought back to present time; however, proving that she is worthy of this power, which will definitely come in handy for our favorite witches.  In the future, Mallory is unsure of her own identity and feels like she has someone trapped within her, suggesting that she is a “lost princess” as well or really a lost witch in this case.

1

“It’s time for the apocalypse.”

We learn that the price of admission is only 100 million dollars, which seems reasonable.  Where can I sign up?  We also learn that “The Cooperative” is actually another name for “The Illuminati.”  Michael convinces everyone to stand with him and Jeff and Mutt’s plan is underway.  After all, they just need to convince a few powerful leaders to push some buttons to start the end of the world, which is beyond scary.  Even though we are surrounded by demons, witches, and a pentagram filled with dead warlocks, the end of the world is actually presented in a realistic way that makes these events even more concerning.  Now that we have all of the chess pieces in place, it’s time to play the game, but who will end up triumphant?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on American Horror Story:  Apocalypse below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Purge” season 1 episode 10 Season Finale: “Let’s Go Save Some Lives”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the USA network’s The Purge season 1 episode 10 season finale last night, the voice over reminded us that, “Participation is dangerous.  It’s risky.  But that risk gives way to unyielding rewards.  Just make sure you’re ready for a world of possibility.  Anything can happen.”  Anything can happen indeed, as we all placed our bets to determine who would be victorious at the end of Purge Night.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “A Nation Reborn,” Joe puts Rick and Jenna on trial and we find out exactly why he is holding a grudge against them.  Meanwhile, Miguel and Pete the Cop continue to work together to make it to the school on time and Penelope has a plan of her very own that you’ll never see coming.  My top 5 moments from The Purge season 1 episode 10 season finale are:

5

“I know.  Stop reminding me.”

It’s Rick and Jenna’s turn to face their own trial and Rick tries to tell Joe that his wife is pregnant, but Joe is unimpressed by this and tells Rick to stop reminding him about it.  We get a detailed flashback that reveals that Joe was going to do the security for Rick and Jenna’s building, but that Rick voided the contract when he wasn’t satisfied by the work.  Joe tried to beg Rick to consider, explaining that this would ruin him, but Rick refused.  Rick reminds Joe that he did pay him, but Joe doesn’t want to hear it.  While this explains Rick’s involvement, what about Jenna?  Joe blames her for “willful ignorance” and says that she is “guilty by association.”  After all, there really is no reasoning with Joe.  Jenna is beyond upset at this point and blames Rick initially.  She tells him, “You put us here.”  Rick continues to try and get through to Joe, reminding him that it was just business, but this is the last thing Joe wants to hear.

4

“I got a stupid idea.”

Miguel and Pete the Cop are still trying to make it to the school, but they are not having an easy time doing so.  These two are an unstoppable team and they work very well together.  Miguel and Pete the Cop take out Rex and his men one at a time, setting them up and knocking them down.  When they finally arrive at the school, they realize that they need to do something about the doors being rigged and Pete has “a stupid idea.”  Pete tells Rex he wants to make a deal and lures him over to the trip wire that Miguel set up.  Pete is very convincing and the plan works like a charm.  Seriously can we give these two their own spin-off series?  Even after Pete gets shot, he is still fighting; reminding us that you can’t get rid of him that easily.  I have to say that I was very happy that Pete ended up remaining one of the good guys, as he is definitely one to root for.  Even though Miguel was doing just fine on his own, this partnership really elevated their status as bad-ass heroes.

3

“Do it for our baby.”

Joe has heard enough and tells Jenna that he does believe in fairness and offers her the chance to save her and her baby’s life by purging her husband.  While we know that Jenna and Rick have had their fair share of problems, I’m not sure that Jenna is capable of doing this.  Rick tells Jenna that he loves her so much and Jenna tells him that she loves him too.  Rick tells her to do it for their baby and Jenna pulls the trigger, but the gun is not loaded, revealing that this was one of Joe’s twisted tests.  After Jenna and Rick make it away from Joe, Rick is shot and killed when he tries to save Jenna.  It looks like Rick will not be getting that cruise to Tahiti anytime soon, but at least he redeemed himself and proved his love to Jenna and his unborn child.

2

“I think I can get us out of here.”

While Rick and Jenna are on trial, Penelope continues to try and break free.  After several attempts, she is successful and frees the other prisoner as well named Paige.  Penelope thinks outside the box and taps into Joe’s twisted mind, realizing what she needs to do next.  Penelope holds a screw to Paige’s throat and tells Joe that she will purge her.  Joe takes the bait and says that she is his purge, playing right into Penelope’s trap.  Penelope viciously stabs Joe in the eye with the screw and runs away with Paige.  What’s with Penelope and her brother trying to blind their victims?  Is this like a thing?  I have to admit that it was extremely disturbing to watch Joe pull the screw out of his eye, but he is not ready to give up just yet.  Either way, it’s safe to say that Penelope is no longer the victim.  She has found her strength and she is not about to give up now.

1

“The country you’re destroying, I want to help rebuild.”

After Penelope runs away from Joe, Paige refuses to listen to her and ends up getting killed by one of his traps.  Penelope keeps going and finally comes face to face with Joe by the pool.  Penelope is not afraid; however, as she stands up to Joe and tries to tell him everything that is wrong with Purge Night.  Penelope wants to help people and explains that others are ready for change as well.  Joe is like a stubborn child and continues to repeat lines from the voice over and we finally learn where the voice over comes from.  Penelope is all too familiar with these lines and she says they are from Bobby Sheridan’s lectures and that the cult used to listen to them to try and understand why purgers were broken.  Penelope asks Joe, “If purging really worked, wouldn’t we stop needing it?”  Only Joe doesn’t want to hear anything else.  Miguel finally arrives and shoots Joe, but Joe refuses to die.  Penelope fights him as well and they are all interrupted by the siren, indicating the end of Purge Night.  Joe backs away and understands the rules, but threatens Miguel and Penelope, reminding them that he will find them next year.  Miguel is not ready to take that chance and shoots Joe and pushes him in the pool.  We know that this is considered illegal now that Purge Night is over, but Pete has Miguel’s back and tells him that he heard the shots fired before the siren.

So our final survivors are Miguel, Penelope, Jenna, and Pete the Cop.  At the end of the episode, we flash to a year later and see Jenna with her baby and Miguel and Penelope at Pete’s bar, getting ready to go out and save some lives.  The voice over reminds us that “Purge Night ends, but The Purge goes on and on.”  After all, there is always next year and we now know that The Purge has been renewed for a second season.  See you in 2019 fellow citizens!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Purge below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 5: “I Found Them”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 5, the moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived, but it’s not the moment we truly expected.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “What Comes After,” Rick is severely wounded and desperately tries to get away from the persistent walker horde following him, as he slips in and out of consciousness, crossing paths with his friends in the afterlife.  Meanwhile, Maggie finally faces Negan and Jadis continues to talk to the mysterious man on the helicopter.  Please note that my top moments will all feature Rick, although I would like to point out that Maggie’s conversation with Negan was truly significant.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 5 are:

5

“Goddamn cowboy, you look like shit!”

Rick is still holding on, but is in immediate danger.  He desperately tries to stay awake, but his mind continues to slip somewhere else, allowing us the chance to catch up with some of our favorite old characters who are no longer with us.  First up…Shane!  Shane is my absolute favorite character of the entire series and I was devastated after his exit.  That being said, perhaps he knew that he was going to kick some serious ass as “The Punisher” so I guess it all worked out in the end.  Rick and Shane have always been like brothers and their reunion picks up right where they left off.  Shane even brings up Judith and asks, “How is my baby girl by the way?”  Shane has always been the “asshole,” but somehow their friendship is still natural and real despite all of the ugliness and drama between these two.  Rick is “looking for his family” and answers, but Shane reminds him to dig down and find the rage within him.  He tells Rick to wake up, as Rick continues to fight and try and escape the walkers that keep coming.  In a way, Shane represents that anger and rage that Rick has had to release on multiple occasions to stay alive.  While Rick has not always made the best decisions because of it, it allowed him to survive.  Perhaps he needed a reminder about that now.

4

“My girl, she’s strong and my grandson…he’ll only make her stronger.”

After scraping by the next obstacle, Rick continues on with his vision quest of sorts and is with Hershel on the farm.  The sun is absolutely breathtaking in the sky and everything seems so calm and peaceful here.  This scene was difficult to watch, especially since Scott Wilson recently passed away, but Rick has always looked to Hershel as his own kind of personal moral compass.  Hershel has always been wise and reminds Rick that Maggie will be OK on her own and tries to tell Rick that he only thinks he needs to find his family.  Hershel clearly represents loyalty and family to Rick, inspiring him with goodness and faith to keep going.

3

“You did your part like I did mine.”

After Rick flashes to some kind of afterlife, surrounded by corpses, he crosses paths with Sasha.  Sasha tries to remind Rick that he did his part and that every single one of them gives us strength.  Sasha further explains, “We help each other.  We make each other better and it never ends.”  Rick is still confused and says that it feels like the end to him, but Sasha reveals, “Little things do end, but it’s never the end of everything.  It’s about all of us.  Your family, they’re not lost.  And you are not lost.”  This part really resonated with me, as Sasha tries to get through to Rick about what it’s all about.  Life is about the people we care about and our actions do matter.  We can all continue to inspire one another and even when we’re gone, we can live on in memories and in the lives of those we have touched.

2

“Because you’re a fighter and you never give up.  Fight for me.”

After Rick’s horse finally abandons him, Rick continues on foot and tries to make it to the bridge.  He imagines all of his friends coming to his rescue, but he is there alone.  Rick creates a conversation with Michonne in his mind, who tells him that she loves him because he is a fighter and never gives up.  Michonne keeps Rick’s love and hope alive here, as he continues to stay true to himself and fight.  I was surprised that we did not see Carl, Glenn, or Lori at all, but I do think that each character we did see represented a part of Rick, reminding him about who he is and what he can still do.

1

“I found them.”

As Rick makes his way to the bridge, his friends now finally catch up to him and try to help him.  Daryl continues to keep the walkers away from Rick, one arrow at a time, and Michonne tries to run toward him, but Rick tries to tell them to stay away.  Rick spots the dynamite and knows what he must do to protect his family.  He lures the walkers on to the bridge and takes out his gun, staying true to who he is…a hero.  Rick blows up the bridge to save his friends and should have gone out in a blaze of glory.  Michonne and Daryl’s reactions were truly heartbreaking, as my own heart shattered as well.  However, there is always some kind of twist on TWD. Rick is somehow OK and washes up to Jadis, formerly known as Anne.  Jadis wants to help Rick because he has helped her in the past and tells the man in the helicopter that she has a “B.”  Again, what makes an “A” or a “B?”  I have no idea, but Rick is taken away on the helicopter and actually makes it out alive!

I don’t know about you, but I was actually really disappointed with this.  As much as I love Rick Grimes and want to see him alive, this sort of felt like a cop-out to me.  Rick had the chance to save all of his friends and leave this world as a true hero.  We know that Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show and will now appear in some Walking Dead movies so I guess that’s a positive, but where does that leave the series?  To make matters even more confusing, we get a time jump that shows bad-ass Judith saving people from walkers while wearing Carl’s hat.  While it’s great to see that she takes after her father and brother, I’m not sure I’m ready to invest in another time jump.  I kind of just want to follow that helicopter and see what’s going on with Rick.  Either way, the episode was done brilliantly and I appreciated the seamless transitions into Rick’s mind.  Rick will always be the very essence of this show for me.  We will all miss you Rick Grimes, but I guess we’ll see you soon in your movies!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Ranking the top 5 moments from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season 13 episode 9: “The Gang Wins the Big Game”

Happy Saturday TV fans!  After watching the FXX network’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 9, the cliffhanger from last week was finally resolved, as we got to find out what happened with the rest of the gang when they attended last year’s Super Bowl.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In Wednesday night’s episode, “The Gang Wins the Big Game,” Mac thinks that everyone should take it easy at the game, but he quickly starts to realize that they may need a few superstitions to help out the Eagles after all.  Meanwhile, we finally get to learn if Charlie made it back into the trap in time.  My top 5 moments from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 9 are:

5

“Every single thing we do turns to shit.”

After it is revealed that Cricket is the one who stole Charlie’s Green Man suit, the gang decides against turning around to go get Charlie.  After all, they have a game to get to.  Only different obstacles are thrown their way as well.  Dee clearly has some form of pink eye developing even though she won’t admit it, Ben’s jean shorts get grease on them, and the bus is no longer an option.  Mac begins to panic, but a plane actually gets them to the game safely.  Mac thinks that everyone should just stay in the box at the game, worried about the rest of the gang causing a commotion, but not everyone is on board with this.

4

“I’m in too deep.”

Mac is super excited that Rex was able to make the game, who has been a recurring character on It’s Always Sunny, infamous for his abs of steel.  Rex has been quite busy selling the Invigaron Berries, which is a pyramid scheme Dee got involved with in the episode, “Mac and Dennis Buy a Timeshare.”  Mac keeps suggesting that Rex take his shirt off for obvious reasons, but Rex seems shy about this, explaining that it is too cold.  Later on, Rex reveals that he has lost his abs of steel and now has a rather large gut because he has been eating way too many of the berries.  Seriously stay away from those pyramid schemes.

3

“Oh my God…how did I move all the way to Minnesota and I’m still waiting on you people?”

Our favorite waiter from Guigino’s is back, as he crosses paths with the gang when he is assigned to their box at the Super Bowl.  Fans will remember that the waiter made a comment to Dee about previously waiting on them at the Super Bowl during the episode, “The Gang Beats Boggs:  Ladies Reboot.”  Of course the gang does not remember the waiter and he is done trying at this point.  Frank hilariously ties his shoelaces together, causing him to fall, throwing it back to one of my all time favorite episodes, “The Gang Dines Out.”  It’s always nice to see the waiter and I’m wondering if we will finally get to know his real name one of these days.

2

“We can’t leave this bathroom!”

Mac is clearly very nervous about the Eagles wining and the Waitress doesn’t help matters by constantly cheering for Tom Brady.  After Dee’s pink eye towel gets magically brought out to Brady, Mac realizes that he has stumbled upon something even more powerful.  Frank has revealed that he has a kidney stone and has to constantly pee as a result.  A light bulb goes off in Mac’s head when he says, “Every time Frank goes to the bathroom, the Eagles score.”  Frank gets motivated and Mac realizes that they cannot leave this bathroom because they owe it to their team.  Will this superstition be enough to win the game?

1

“I got one thing left to do.”

The game is extremely close and coming to the end and Frank is all out of pee.  Mac suddenly realizes that he needs to check in with Charlie to ensure that he has completed his “color rituals.”  Charlie explains, “I got one thing left to do” and courageously heads back to his bear trap with perfect timing, as the Eagles win the Super Bowl.  The gang is extremely excited and Charlie begins to laugh victoriously and then starts hysterically crying when the pain begins to set back in.  It was all worth it; however, as the gang celebrates their team winning the Super Bowl.  Go team!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 4: “Time To Slice and Dice!”

Happy Friday TV fans!  Everyone enjoys a good horror movie marathon.  Well maybe some people more than others, but what happens when the horror comes to life?  Is it your dream come true or your worst nightmare?  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 4, Dean pretty much indicated that this is the coolest thing ever and I agree, as this has been my favorite episode so far this season.  Supernatural did what it does best, providing us with some laugh out loud funny moments with some campy horror mixed in.  More of this please!  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Mint Condition,” Sam tries to get Dean out of his funk by telling him about a case that involves toys coming to life, which immediately grabs his brother’s attention.  As Sam and Dean try to figure out exactly what they are dealing with, they both bond with a different comic book store owner and Sam finally reveals why he hates Halloween.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 4 are:

5

“Our life is a scary movie.”

In the beginning of the episode, Dean is enjoying some pizza and watching a horror movie marathon, which includes one starring “Hatchet Man” with the catch phrase, “Time to Slice and Dice!”  I have to admit that Dean was absolutely adorable in this scene, but Sam is not too impressed with Dean’s decision to stay in his room all the time.  While Dean listens to Sam, he takes this time to comment on the fact that Sam has shaved his beard.  Sam tries to get Dean to stay on track and reminds him that “our life is a scary movie.”

4

“She’s like your wonder twin.”

After Sam tells Dean about an action figure supposedly coming to life and attacking someone, Dean is in and ready for a case.  He enthusiastically says, “Thundercats…seriously!”  Sam and Dean head off to the comic book store to check things out and Dean thinks the girl owner is Sam’s wonder twin right down to her delicate features and luxurious hair.  Sam takes this time to point out the other owner in the horror section with a lollipop, suggesting that he is Dean’s double.  This joke proceeds to go even further, as both Winchester brothers spend some quality time with their “twins” and realize that they actually do have quite a bit in common.

3

“Why do you know what that means?”

Sam and Dean track down the comic book store employee who was attacked named Stuart.  Stuart is beyond hilarious, as he insists on voicing his opinions loudly to his opponent in a video game.  After trying to figure out who might have a motive to hurt Stuart, he talks about his ex-girlfriend who was into “wicca.”  When he talks about “mirl,” Dean is beyond confused and Sam explains that this means “meeting in real life.”  I laughed so hard when Dean asked Sam how he knew what that meant, keeping this episode super fun and light.  Dean suspects that a witch might be involved, but they soon find out that they are dealing with the ghost of the former owner of the comic book store who is not the biggest fan of Stuart.

2

“Unless it’s Godzilla…it’s real!”

After Dean is almost taken out by a flying chainsaw, Stuart ends up in the hospital and they decide to keep an eye on him, as the ghost is clearly targeting him.  Stuart’s best friend hangs around too and Dean starts to realize that actually do have a lot in common and are both huge fans of the “Hatchet Man” movies.  Dean explains, “I like to watch movies where I know the bad guy is going to lose,” actually shedding some light on another reason why he has been locked up in his room for so long, not ready to truly cope with what happened with Michael.  The ghost decides to possess a “Hatchet Man” animatronic and heads to the hospital, which is a thrill for Dean and his new pal.  Meanwhile, Sam bonds with the girl owner and they try and figure out how to stop the ghost once and for all and realize that they pretty much think the same way.  When “Hatchet Man” arrives, Dean grabs an ax and is ready to face his favorite horror movie villain.  Dean vs. Hatchet Man…place your bets!  This fight is absolutely hilarious, as “Hatchet Man” proceeds to press the button on his chest so that his famous catch phrases are said, which makes the battle that much more epic for Dean.  After the key-chain is destroyed, the ghost is eliminated and the threat is over, but Dean reminds us that this was absolutely awesome and I agree!

1

“Why do you hate Halloween?”

The moment we have all been waiting for is here, as Sam finally tells Dean why he hates Halloween so much.  After Sam gives Dean a pep talk on the ride back, Dean agrees to come out of his room more even though he will not be able to just erase what happened with Michael.  Now that this is resolved, Dean takes this opportunity to find out exactly why Sam hates Halloween.  After initially saying, “You don’t want to know,” Sam finally opens up and talks about a girl named Andrea he used to like and how she invited him over for a Halloween party.  Sam had been super nervous and when he had to bob for apples, he ended up puking everywhere…even on Andrea.  Sam spent the rest of the night hiding out in the woods traumatized while he waited for Dean.  Poor Sam!  Dean decides that it’s time for him to get over this and that they can dress up as a “dynamic duo” next year like Batman and Robin or perhaps Thelma and Louise, which is beyond hilarious.  Overall, this episode was extremely entertaining and I have a feeling I will continue to watch it every Halloween.  Let’s keep these episodes coming!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” season 8 episode 8: “What Am I Supposed To Do?”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the FX network’s American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 8 last night, we took a break from the “Coven” story-line and followed Michael Langdon’s path, as he desperately tried to figure out what he should do next.  I guess being the Antichrist is tougher than one might imagine.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Sojourn,” Cordelia tries to get through to Michael, but to no avail.  Meanwhile, we meet some new characters at the “Church of Satan” and also catch up with some old ones, revealing some answers about Outpost 3.  We also continue to get some fun Easter eggs along the way.  My top 5 moments from American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 8 are:

5

“You can write your own destiny.”

In the beginning of the episode, Michael Langdon is beyond heartbroken to find out that Ms. Mead has been burned at the stake.  Cordelia reminds Michael that he’ll “never see her again” and that he is alone now, but Michael explains that he still has his father.  Despite Michael being the Antichrist, Cordelia still tries to get through to him and sees the potential humanity within him.  Michael doesn’t want to hear it; however, and says, “Somehow, someway, I’m going to bring her back and then I’m gonna kill every last one of you.”  Well at least Michael is still motivated, but this moment is important because it reminds us that Michael has his own identity and path to find now.  Whether we are on Team Coven or Team Langdon, we can’t ignore the fact that Michael has a tough road ahead of him.

4

“Are you ready for an old fashioned human sacrifice?”

Michael goes in search of answers and calls out to his father.  He starves himself for four days in the woods and begins hallucinating, seeing children reaching out to him with food and drinks.  It is important to note that we see an apple here, reminding us again about the “Garden of Eden” and also connecting us to the future where everyone at Outpost 3 will be poisoned by apples.  Michael also sees snakes and goats, which we have seen during the apocalypse as well, foreshadowing what is to come next.  Michael eventually stumbles upon the “Church of Satan” and meets some interesting characters.  The leader of the Church of Satan, played by Sandra Bernhard, may be influenced by evil, but she is actually pretty funny.  She inspires the crowd and reminds them that stealing $100 out of a register is not the kind of evil she is talking about.  When she presents the human sacrifices, she gives us a little bit of their resume, revealing that both sacrifices do a lot of good work in their lives and she hilariously comments, “Bitch please” and “Isn’t that just too precious?”  She is ready to make the world a little “shittier” by sacrificing these people to Satan.  I guess it’s worth it to sell your soul to the devil, especially if you get to sleep with Ryan Reynolds as an added bonus.  The “Church of Satan” is most likely known as “The Cooperative” in the future, putting together more pieces of the puzzle.

3

“I’m the one you’re waiting for.”

While taking a back seat at the “Church of Satan,” Michael gets quite the show and even gets to listen to the choir perform “O Fortuna,” which means “Oh Fate” when translated from Latin and further goes on about destiny, which is perhaps the sign that our Michael Langdon has been waiting for, even though his father has yet to make an appearance.  After losing Ms. Mead, Michael is in need of some guidance and meets Madeline, played by the amazing Harriet Sansom Harris.  Madeline steps in as a sort of mother type and even gives Michael a hot meal.  After Michael shows her his mark behind his ear, Madeline is absolutely convinced that he is the one they have all been waiting for.  Madeline presents him to the rest of the church and Michael proves his worthiness by killing the two sacrifices.  The church is clearly behind him and he is ready to embrace his destiny, but he still feels emptiness without Ms. Mead by his side.

2

“I am HR bitch!”

Madeline thinks that she can help Michael by introducing him to characters played by Evan Peters and Billy Eichner who are a bit eccentric, extreme, and heavily addicted to cocaine.  Before we get to them, it’s important to note that we also get to see Ms. Venable here.  Ms. Venable is clearly not a huge fan of her bosses, reminding them not to call her “babe” and looking absolutely fabulous in purple, which is apparently her thing.  This is important because in the future, “The Purples” are the elite at Outpost 3.  Ms. Venable also loves to rock purple in the future as well.  The character played by Evan Peters talks about the importance of a light rock playlist and we even get to hear the song, “The Morning After” play again, suggesting that this could have been the initial inspiration for using this music in Outpost 3 to drive everyone mad.  While I didn’t catch the names of these two characters, it is possible that they are under a kind of identity spell in the future as well, especially if Michael considers them to be allies or perhaps former allies.

1

“You came to the right place.”

We learn that the characters played by Peters and Eichner work in robotics and Michael is looking to re-create Ms. Mead.  After filling them in on everything about her, Michael is impressed by their work and we get to see Miriam Mead 2.0, which finally helps us connect the dots in the future.  Michael feels complete with her by his side again, which signals that he is now ready to fulfill his destiny.  It seems like we now have a lot of the past explained, so I am ready to fast forward to the future.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on American Horror Story:  Apocalypse below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Purge” season 1 episode 9: “We All Need Each Other To Survive”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the USA network’s The Purge season 1 episode 9 last night, the voice over reminded us that “This is it.  Today’s the day.  Take the horror built up inside of you and spill it in the streets.  Will you spend this holiday locked in a cage afraid of your true potential?”  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “I Will Participate,” Joe puts everyone on trial, revealing that he is more dangerous than anyone might have realized.  Meanwhile, Miguel and Pete the Cop work together to track Joe down before it is too late.  My top 5 moments from The Purge season 1 episode 9 are:

5

“You are all here because you’ve wronged me.”

Ready to connect the dots?  Joe finally reveals his intentions when he explains that each one of his prisoners have wronged him in some way.  Pretty much everyone seems to recognize Joe when he takes off his mask and he explains that each one of them will be placed on trial.  Joe says, “I will exercise mercy if your confession is compelling.  But if not, I will purge and I will be reborn.”  Well at least it seems like Joe may be willing to listen to reason, but somehow I doubt it.  As the connections continue to reveal themselves, we learn that Jane went on a blind date with Joe, Rick remembers Joe installing their security system, and we later find out that Penelope made the fatal mistake of not saying “thank you” when Joe held a door open for her.  I mean that is definitely a pet peeve of mine, but I’m not sure it warrants Penelope’s death.  Either way, it’s becoming clear that Joe has quite a few screws loose and is not really one to let anything go.  We also learn that Joe has been using some kind of tracking spray that is used in the military to find his victims, which sort of explains how he knew where they would all be and his expertise on Rick and Jenna’s security system explains how he was able to deactivate it.  Well at least we are finally getting some answers.

4

“Don’t you feel better?”

Joe has a few other victims along with our main characters and we learn that he has been holding on to his rage for a very long time.  He has a man stand trial who bullied him back in high school.  Joe even brings up documentation such as pictures from his yearbook to make his case, which reveals that Joe has been planning this for a very long time.  I mean there are so many other things he could be doing with his time, but I guess everyone has a hobby.  The former bully actually makes a compelling case and seems sincere.  He tells Joe that he is homeless and perhaps that he is already undergoing his punishment in that way.  Joe seems to believe him and gives the man a hug, right before he sharply stabs him, killing him.  Joe says, “Like I said…mercy.”  Everyone else starts to realize that Joe’s idea of mercy does not involve letting them go.  They are not getting out of here easily.

3

“We are going to figure something out.”

Jane takes this time to introduce herself to Penelope and tells her and the others that they are going to figure something out, desperately trying to find a positive solution here.  Our main characters all have a common goal now…surviving.  Jane explains that “if we work together, we can take him.”  Jane’s leadership skills definitely come into play here, as she tries to come up with a plan and keep everyone motivated.  Another prisoner named Eileen is not ready to stick around; however, and rushes to the exit when she gets a chance.  Only Joe has the entire abandoned school rigged and she is shot as soon as she opens the doors.  Jane continues to try and keep the hope alive, but she needs to come up with something fast because she’s next.

2

“Let’s tackle this together like two professionals.”

I absolutely love the dynamic duo of Miguel and Pete the Cop.  After Penelope is taken, Pete the Cop agrees to finally emerge out into the streets during Purge Night to help Miguel.  Before they take off, Pete puts his cop skills to the test and pulls up information on Joe.  We find out that his full name is Joe Owens and they are even able to track down his address.  On the way, Miguel and Pete the Cop run into some trouble, as a group of Purgers demand some kind of trade in order for them to pass through.  Pete gets a free pass; however, as we learn that he is off limits during Purge Night.  Seriously don’t mess with Pete the Cop.  After running into Joe’s father at his home and taking a look at Joe’s extensive plan on the wall, they realize that they need to get to the school to find Penelope.  Only nothing comes easy for Miguel, as they are stopped on the way when Rex and his men open fire on their car, looking for revenge.  If anyone can get out of this OK, it’s Miguel and Pete the Cop.  As much as I adore Pete right now, I am wondering if we can truly trust him.  It initially seemed like Joe was a good guy as well so I wouldn’t be surprised if another twist is thrown our way, but I am hoping that Pete continues to try and help because I love this partnership.

1

“What a thing to live with…”

When Jane is brought up on trial, she stays composed and strong.  Jane tells Joe that she remembers him and we get a flashback that reveals her on a very awkward date with Joe.  Jane remains polite, as Joe continues to drop racist jokes along the way, but she can’t take it anymore after he implies that she got into college because of her race.  Jane has worked extremely hard for her opportunities and she is not going to let anyone take this away from her.  Jane says she has to go to the bathroom, but ends up skipping out on her date, but does pay for it.  Joe even has the receipt from the dinner as evidence.  Jane says what we are all thinking when she asks, “You tracked me down over a date?”  Jane is not about to back down now, but Joe tries to turn the tables on her by bringing up her own intention to purge David.  Jane explains that Purging will not make anyone feel better.  Jane says, “I tried to live my life with integrity.  I compromised who I am for a sexual predator.  What a thing to live with.”  Joe does not want to hear this, as he has made up his mind that it is his right to purge.  Jane fights back and everyone is rooting for her, but Joe ends up choking the life out of her.  Even though her life is over, Jane stayed true to who she was and finally stood up for herself after enduring so much and saying nothing over the years.  I am extremely proud of Jane, but I wish that she could have stopped Joe as well.  It looks like it is up to one of our other main characters, but who will be the one to take Joe down?  As Joe drags Jane’s body away, Penelope continues to keep the hope alive, revealing that Jane did not die for nothing.  She tried to motivate everyone and she succeeded, as they realize that they will all need to work together to stop Joe.  Stay tuned for the season finale next week!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Purge below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

I am so excited to announce that my book, The Search for Alice, is now available!  If you enjoy fairy-tale retellings, paranormal romance, horror, and mystery, then this might be the book for you or someone you know!  Thank you for taking the time to check it out and I appreciate any feedback as well.  I hope you enjoy!

She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.

5 Spoiler Free Reasons why you should watch “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” on Netflix: A Binge-Worthy Treat That Is Everything You Crave”

“What’s the point of being a witch if I can’t help the ones I love?”  An excellent question for sure, as half-mortal Sabrina Spellman learns that being a witch is not all fun and games.  If you had the choice to be a witch or a mortal, what would you choose?  Would you continue on your normal path or would you choose the path of night?  The Netflix series is based on the Archie Comics series, which was also the inspiration for the sitcom, Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996-2003).  While the sitcom was a fun and lighter take on Sabrina’s adventures, the Netflix series is a much darker approach.  The show features 10 episodes and they are all currently streaming on Netflix as of October 26th 2018.  After watching all of the episodes in one weekend, I can tell you that I absolutely adored this series.  Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the perfect portion of Riverdale bubble gum pop dipped in delicious darkness.  It is absolutely enchanting and I highly recommend it.  Please note that major spoilers have been left out for your convenience.  My top 5 reasons to check out Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are:

This show tackles real issues.

Welcome to Greendale.  While the town is known for its spooky and Halloween-like atmosphere, it is also near Riverdale and it should be noted that these two series do connect.  If you are a Riverdale fan like me, you will be pleasantly surprised with a few mentions and connections along the way.  Even though the town has a lot of dark and mystical things going on, the series also sheds some light on some important issues.  Sabrina and her friends witness and deal with sexual harassment and bullying, reminding us that there are some real life horrors happening along with the supernatural ones.  The show does a good job of making us aware of these important issues and promoting female empowerment, while seamlessly continuing on with the plot.

4

The supporting characters.

It is sometimes difficult for the supporting cast to step into the spotlight, especially when there is a strong lead capturing our attention.  However, I was delighted by a lot of the supporting cast.  I give standout performances to Lucy Davis (Hilda Spellman), Chance Perdomo (Ambrose Spellman), Tati Gabrielle (Prudence), Michelle Gomez (Miss Wardwell), and Miranda Otto (Zelda Spellman).  These characters all complimented Sabrina so well and I could really see a true connection among the Spellman family.  You will be delighted by all of them.

3

Episodes 5, 8, and 9.

While all of the episodes were fast paced and fun, these three were on a completely different level.  I will not spoil anything for you, but I would definitely recommend giving these three episodes your undivided attention.  Episode 5 provided me with some Buffy the Vampire Slayer nostalgia and episodes 8 and 9 were shocking and dark, pulling the story in a twisted direction and further developing the character of Sabrina.  These episodes are not predictable and they will have you on the edge of your seat.  Enjoy the ride!

2

Sabrina Spellman.

Played by Kiernan Shipka, Sabrina is a strong female protagonist who you can truly root for.  Kiernan is absolutely enchanting and she really captured the essence of the character.  Sabrina makes mistakes along the way, but that is part of her charm.  She’s flawed, but she has so much inner strength and loyalty to her friends and family.  Sabrina always tries to do what is right to protect the ones she loves.  She sort of reminds me of a mix between Riverdale’s Betty Cooper and Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger.  She is a fast learner and is willing to go against authority to try and keep her moral compass intact.  Sabrina is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and she is constantly challenging everyone, reminding us that she is not just a powerful witch, but a powerful and amazing woman.

A worthy series about witches.

It’s not always easy to provide the audience with a true representation of witchcraft.  There is always the allure of having magical powers and casting spells, but there needs to be a balance as well.  Shows like Charmed and American Horror Story:  Coven were able to capture this along with movies like The Craft.  Chilling Adventures of Sabrina tackles everything from truth spells to resurrection ones and reminds us about “personal gain” and real consequences.  While it may seem glamorous to be a witch, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina reminds us that it’s not always this simple.  Sabrina is trying to find her own identity as a person, but also has to deal with making a choice between her mortal life and her destiny to become a witch.  It’s a decision that weighs on Sabrina for quite some time and she begins to understand that magic cannot always solve everything.  While the show will provide you with some fun magical moments, it also reveals the darkness and sacrifice that comes with it.  Overall, I was truly impressed with this show and I cannot wait until season 2.  I absolutely recommend this spellbinding series to everyone.  Ready to watch?
