Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” Season 15 Episode 3: “The Rupture”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 15 episode 3, I realized that sacrifice is never easy, but sometimes it is necessary.  Would you let the world die so that someone else could live or would you be able to make the impossible choice that Sam Winchester is left with?  Please note MAJOR spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “The Rupture,” the team works together to retrieve Lilith’s horn to summon the souls back to hell, but not everything goes according to plan.  Meanwhile, a sacrifice is made that reminds us that we are coming to the end, but what does it mean for the fate of our remaining characters?  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 15 episode 3 are:

5

“Go team!”

In the beginning of the episode, Rowena tries another ritual to cast the souls back to hell, but it doesn’t work.  Rowena says that they are all going to die and that no magic can stop it.  Dean insists that they try and come up with another plan and it seems like Belphegor has an idea with potential.

Belphegor explains that Lilith had a horn to summon all of the souls at once as a measure of last resort, but that it is probably locked away somewhere in hell.  At this point, no one else has another suggestion, so it’s time for the team to get to work.

4

“Not at any price…”

Ketch is still recovering in the hospital, but he is anxious to return to his friends.  We know that Ketch was hired to track down Belphegor by a demon named Ardat and she certainly makes her presence known now.  Ardat threatens Ketch and demands that he give up his friends, but Ketch has this moment of redemption.

The old Ketch would have given them up to save himself,  but he remains loyal and true.  Ardat rips out Ketch’s heart and leaves him there to die, but we know that not everyone is going to make it on the last season of SPN.  Either way, I’m glad that he did the right thing in the end.  RIP Ketch.

3

“You’re an abomination…”

Castiel is forced to join Belphegor in hell to track down Lilith’s horn, but he is not exactly pleased about it.  Belphegor claims he wants to be friends, but Castiel cannot bear to look at him wearing Jack’s body like a suit.  Castiel tells Belphegor that he is an abomination, but proves to be quite useful when it comes to opening up the box to retrieve the horn.  Nice singing, Cass!

Ardat attempts to break up the party, but is eliminated.  However, she warns Castiel that Belphegor is trying to claim the throne of hell for himself.  Belphegor’s true motives are revealed, explaining that he wants to absorb all the souls so that he can become a god.  After all, there is a vacancy for that position.

Castiel is able to stop him in time, but Belphegor clearly does some damage when he pretends to be Jack one last time.  Castiel recognizes the lie and destroys Belphegor, but it broke his heart to do so.  Will Castiel be able to recover from this or is he too far gone now?  I can’t bear to see him apart from the Winchesters, but he may need to find his sense of worth on his own.  We need you Cass!

2

“It has to be you.”

SPN is not holding anything back for the final season, as Rowena suddenly realizes that “death is an infinite vessel.”  She explains to Sam that she can absorb all the souls and bring them back to hell, but her death will seal the spell.  Sam tells her that there has to be another way, but that pesky prophecy comes back up, as Rowena reminds him that he will need to be the one to kill her.

Sam and Rowena have grown very fond of one another and this moment was beyond heartbreaking, as Sam kills Rowena to save them all.  Rowena absorbs the souls and says goodbye to her boys before she enters into the rift, which had me crying my eyes out.

Rowena has been one of my absolute favorite characters, but I thought that she also found redemption here.  The witch who used to look out for her own interests truly discovered her purpose and this moment with Sam reminded her that she did have a family in the end.

Farewell Rowena.  I will miss you so much!

1

“I don’t think there’s anything left to say…”

After this incredibly heartbreaking moment, Sam and Dean return to the bunker.  Sam is dealing with his grief and Dean reminds him that they did it.  Dean and Castiel have an argument and Castiel feels like Dean is still blaming him for Mary’s death.  There has been a distance between these two for quite a while, but Castiel decides that it’s time for him to move on now.

Where will Castiel go?  Is there a way for him and Dean to resolve their differences?  I hope so because I can’t bear to see him separated from Sam and Dean.  Castiel reminds Dean that he has Sam, but I have always looked at them all as a family and I can’t bear to see them apart.  Let’s hope this gets resolved!  Stay tuned SPN family!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “American Horror Story: 1984” season 9 episode 6: “Episode 100”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the FX network’s American Horror Story:  1984 season 9 episode 6, I learned that sometimes “being bad feels really good,” but that doesn’t mean that we should throw our moral compass out the window.  Or does it?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Episode 100,” we time jump quite a bit for the 100th episode of AHS, bringing us a killer soundtrack and some new plot twists.  Meanwhile, Xavier and Montana adjust to life being dead, Brooke is on death row, and Margaret is living the good life.  My top 5 moments from American Horror Story:  1984 season 9 episode 6 are:

5

“Take a picture.  It will last longer.”

I guess it didn’t take Xavier and Montana too long to adjust to life being dead at Camp Redwood, as they enjoy some “bitchin kills” along the way.  Ray is still trying to do what is right, but they remind him that there are no more consequences.

Xavier and Montana seem to be hot and heavy, but they have a real passion for murder, but it looks like they may have bigger fish to fry when Margaret shows up for the Halloween concert.

4

“Old habits die hard.”

Margaret seems to be living the good life and surprise…Trevor is actually still alive and is now her cokehead husband.  We learn that Trevor remembers everything all too well and tries to blackmail Margaret, but she decides to strategically make him her husband so that he can never testify against her.  I guess that’s the next best thing to having a sugar mama.

Margaret has made her wealth by investing in real estate for properties that have had major massacres or horrible things take place, but it looks like her diamond in the rough is returning to Camp Redwood.  Let’s see how this works out.

3

“That bitch needs to die.”

Margaret announces some kind of Halloween concert at Camp Redwood, which will feature…Billy Idol!  Well, we know that the Night Stalker is going to want to be in attendance, but Margaret’s presence has also stirred up a need for revenge among all the undead spirits residing there.

I always love the Halloween episodes of AHS, so I’m eager to see how this turns out and hopefully we will get some more amazing songs featured as well!  Will Billy make an actual appearance?

2

“Welcome back to the land of the living.”

Poor Brooke is about to be executed even though she is innocent and she ends up running into the Night Stalker in prison.  The Night Stalker says his master sees potential in her and reminds her that she can still say “yes” to Satan, but she decides to respond with, “F*ck off.”

Brooke stays strong through it all and spits on the window, realizing that Margaret is there about to watch her die.  Brooke says that she is innocent one last time before she receives the lethal injection, but our favorite final girl gets a lucky break.

Fake Rita/Donna/Dee Dee shows up and injects her with something, bringing her back to life.  Brooke is back to the land of the living and I can’t wait to see her take her rightful revenge.  Go Brooke!

1

“I thought I could be free but I’ll never be free.”

Even though Mr. Jingles made a deal with Satan, he is looking for redemption.  He ends up getting the Night Stalker thrown in jail and decides to make a fresh start for himself in Alaska because you know, that’s where everyone goes for a clean slate in movies.  Mr. Jingles/Benjamin/Donald now works at a Videoshack and even comes up with the famous “Be Kind, Rewind” slogan for Blockbuster, which gave me a lot of fun nostalgia.

Mr. Jingle nows has a wife (former prostitute) and an infant son, but the Night Stalker shows up to take everything away from him after asking his master for a chance at immortality.  The Night Stalker brutally murders his wife and he decides to leave his baby with their neighbor.  Mr. Jingles realizes now that he can never be free and decides to end this once and for all.  It looks like we have all of our players in place now so we’ll have to see who ends up surviving.

Overall, I was slightly underwhelmed by AHS’s 100th episode.  I guess I was hoping for some more familiar Easter eggs and AHS did what it always does around episode 5 or 6, where it decides to take this weird turn with the plot.  I really enjoyed the simple slasher formula so I’m not sure that we needed all of this excess fluff, but I’m eager to see Brooke and Mr. Jingles take their revenge.  Stay tuned!

I also enjoyed this music soundtrack the most out of all the episodes so far and hope you enjoy the highlights from it below!

American Horror Story:  1984 episode 6 Music Soundtrack Highlights:

Billy Idol – Flesh For Fantasy (Official Music Video)

Black Sabbath “Paranoid”

REO Speedwagon – Can’t Fight This Feeling

Mötley Crüe – Home Sweet Home (Official Music Video)

The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? (Official Music Video)

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on American Horror Story:  1984 below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 4 Episode 3: Saved by the Bobby Pin!

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 4 episode 3, I realized that change is not necessarily a bad thing.  But what happens when new threats emerge because of this change?  Is it truly possible to earn a clean slate with so many buried secrets?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Chapter Sixty:  Dog Day Afternoon,” Jughead adjusts to life at Stonewall Prep, but a new rival doesn’t make it easy for him.  Meanwhile, Edgar calls Betty, but she’s ready for the final showdown.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 4 episode 3 are:

5

“I’ll take those odds.”

In this episode, Archie decides that he wants to turn the gym into a community center where kids can go, especially after Munroe’s (Mad Dog) little brother gets caught up with a gang down at the arcade.  I feel like they could have picked a more threatening spot, but I’ll go with it for now.  Veronica is willing to lend Archie the money he needs, but Archie wants to do things his way.

We get an enthusiastic car wash from the boys, but it doesn’t earn enough money.  After Archie tries out being a vigilante, he ends up taking the money from the drug dealers down at the arcade, but it’s not like they can use that either.

Archie’s mother wants him to get out of Riverdale, but Veronica reminds her that she is willing to invest in her son, explaining that he can do so much good in town and I think she’s right.  The community center is open and it looks like Mrs. Andrews will be sticking around for a while after all.

4

“You will do as you’re told.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.”

Even though we get a brief intimate moment between Choni, Cheryl continues to have her chats with dead Jason, which just gets creepier and creepier.  After Nana Rose starts to have some trouble with reality as well, Toni decides to hire a night nurse, Darius.  Cheryl channels her best impression of Beauty and the Beast by telling him that he is forbidden from entering certain areas of the estate, desperate to keep Jason a secret.

Cheryl thinks that someone moved Jason and decides to fire Darius after she discovers that he was in the basement, claiming he heard rats.  It looks like Darius was on to something, as Cheryl finds one of the rats inside Jason’s stomach, which instantly made my skin crawl.

The cat, or the rat, is out of the bag, as Toni finally stumbles upon Jason.  Cheryl actually handles this surprisingly well, asking if Toni has ever met Jason before.

Will Toni be able to bring Cheryl back to reality?  Let’s hope so!

3

“Blood doesn’t wash out…”

Hiram somehow finds out that Veronica is thinking of changing her name and decides to pay her a visit.  He may be in jail, but he owns that jail, which apparently means he can come and go whenever he pleases?  I’ll leave that one alone, but Hiram decides to tell Veronica the story about how he created the Hiram Lodge name, explaining that his name used to be Luna.

Hiram tells Veronica that changing her name will not wash out her past sins, but Veronica decides to go through with it anyway.  Only she won’t be changing her name to Veronica Gomez, she will now be known as Veronica Luna, which clearly infuriates her father.

Will Veronica Luna be able to start fresh or will her Lodge past continue to get in her way?

2

“You need to buy us time!”

After Charles sends in an undercover agent to deliver pizza at the Farm, things go horribly wrong and Edgar decides to get on the phone.  Only he seems to be more interested in calling Betty directly with his list of demands.

Under Charles’s instruction, Betty asks Edgar to release some hostages and poor Polly shows up with a bomb.  Edgar has removed the pin on the dead man’s switch and the timer is counting down pretty quickly, but Betty’s bobby pin comes to the rescue, as she saves the day.  Go Betty!

Betty decides to get Edgar his list of demands since she knows people and shows up at his front door, ready to end this once and for all, but she is clearly outnumbered and is knocked unconscious before anything too major can happen.

1

“Edgar ascended…”

When Betty wakes up, she is held hostage with Alice in a motel room.  So good to see you Alice!  We get an impressive mother-daughter tag team, as these Cooper ladies show us what they are made of.  Betty works on trying to get the innocent Farmies on the bus, while her mother goes after Edgar.

Apparently Edgar wants to get on his recently built rocket, but Alice has other plans for him.  After a gunshot is heard, Betty panics, but Alice is able to eliminate Edgar once and for all.  At least I think so.  You never know on Riverdale!  It looks like this Farm cult story has wrapped itself up neatly, but I’m slightly confused on Edgar’s behavior in this episode.

Part of what made Edgar so intriguing was that he kept his cool and used manipulation to get what he wanted, but he almost seemed like a loose cannon in this episode.  I’m not sure if there are some holes in that plot or if the writers were just done with his story, but I was slightly disappointed with this outcome.

Either way, I’m glad to see that both Betty and Alice are all right.  So I guess it’s on to the next mystery, as Betty and Jughead get some kind of tape delivered to them at their doorstep.  Is this a warning or a threat?  I’m not sure, but we’ll have to see how this all links to Jughead’s future disappearance.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thank you so much for reading and happy viewing!

Dark Ditties Presents ‘The Witching Hour’ (Episode 4): Spoiler-Free Review

The Witching Hour is here!

The fourth installment of Dark Ditties blends campy horror humor with some cringe-worthy terror that may seep into your own nightmares. Samantha has been dreaming about a dark and mysterious entity named Tyberius Krane. Not knowing where else to turn, Samantha seeks assistance from a tacky over-the-top paranormal investigations show called, ‘The Witching Hour.’

The mock paranormal show is on the verge of cancellation and it’s clear that they will do anything to hold on to viewers, but things take a dark and unexpected turn when a real supernatural threat emerges after meeting with Samantha.

Fans of Supernatural may thoroughly enjoy this feature length episode, which gave me a Ghostfacers nostalgia. The cast of the mock paranormal show is outrageous and silly, but that adds to the campy horror charm. It’s not all fun and games; however, as we are presented with some genuinely scary moments that will have you on the edge of your seat. Tyberius Krane will give you chills, as we dive into the mystery behind him throughout the episode.

The cast and characters are fantastic and I thought that the effects and musical score really elevated the series, bringing to life a chilling and entertaining episode of horror. While the plot may seem predictable at times, the humor sliced it with new vitality. The show brings you plenty of gore, laughs, and terrifying scares.

A fresh take on horror that is well worth the watch!

Look for Dark Ditties episodes on Amazon Prime!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Dark Ditties in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Purge” season 2 episode 2: “Everything Is Fine”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the USA network’s The Purge season 2 episode 2 last night, I also started to ask myself:  “What do you do when every choice you can make seems like the wrong one?”  Is it possible to find redemption and goodness in the world of The Purge or is society too far gone?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Everything Is Fine,” it’s the day after Purge Night, which may be even messier than the actual night, as our new characters deal with the aftermath, making new decisions that might change their lives forever.  My top 5 moments from The Purge season 2 episode 2 are:

5

“I know how you got this…”

After pulling off a dangerous heist, Ryan takes his bag of money to a facility where his mom is being treated.  We learn that Ryan’s mother suffers from some kind of dementia and Ryan is doing his best to take care of his family and his other team members from the heist.

Ryan is being presented as the leader with the moral compass, but it will be interesting to find out where his loyalties truly lie once he is connected with the rest of the characters.

4

“He’s family.”

After Tommy makes it to the safe house, Ryan is worried that he may have been followed and sure enough, the police show up with perfect timing.  Tommy walks out of the building with no weapon, but the police continue to beat him badly to make a point.  Ryan explains that Tommy will be held until the next Purge and then they will just kill him, which reveals quite a few holes in this justice system that the NFFA seems so proud of.

Will Ryan risk it all to free his friend?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but I thought that this inside look during The Purge aftermath shed some new light on everything.

3

“I’m fine…”

But are you really, Ben?  After beating the boy in the “I Am God” Purge mask to death, Ben makes it home to his fraternity, covered in blood.  His roommate is extremely surprised to see him and things aren’t looking too good for him, especially since he left Ben to die.

Ben claims that everything is all right, but this trauma has clearly impacted him and it looks like it also unleashed some inner violence brewing within Ben.  He even tries out playing a Purge video game and gets a little bit too obsessed, revealing that Purge Night may have changed Ben for good.  It also looks like we haven’t seen the last of the “I Am God” Purge mask, as Ben goes back to retrieve it.

2

“I need to know what happened in that house.”

After Esme’s friend is brutally murdered, Esme continues to look into the case, even though her supervisor tells her to let it go.  Esme goes to her friend’s house and finds an envelope with an interesting recording of a woman’s voice.

The woman is talking about her need for violence and already I am connecting the dots, wondering if the voice on the other end is Marcus’s wife, Michelle?  I’m really interested in Esme’s character and I support her quest for the truth, but she better watch her back because the NFFA is always watching.

1

“Whoever is trying to kill you is still out there.”

During episode 2, we discover that Marcus is a doctor and he actually attempts to save the life of the man who tried to kill him.  Marcus doesn’t get any concrete answers out of him, but he decides to go visit his son at college.

In episode 2, we get several connections between our new characters already.  Marcus’s son had Professor Adams as a teacher, who is Esme’s friend, so the dots are already lining up for us.  Ben was in the same class, so we get that link as well, but I’m sure that there are more connections to discover.  Marcus’s son finds a hidden app on his phone that was spying on Marcus and they learn that there is still a bounty out on Marcus.

So, who wants Marcus dead?  The obvious answer is his wife, but things are not always what they seem on The Purge.  Either way, I’m intrigued.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Purge below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Affair” season 5 episode 9: “Like They’re Prey…”

Happy Tuesday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s The Affair season 5 episode 9, I wondered if Noah can truly be redeemed?  Can one really be erased from their own story or is there still a chance to make things right?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In Sunday night’s episode, “509,” the story about Noah is leaked everywhere and it really takes a toll on the entire family.  Meanwhile, Helen makes a shocking discovery about Sasha and Whitney determines where her loyalties lie.  My top 5 moments from The Affair season 5 episode 9 are:

5

“Is she finding any skeletons?”

Part one of the episode follows Helen and we catch up with her right after Petra has called her.  Helen is shocked by what she is hearing, but Noah continues to lie, telling her that everything is fine.  Once the story is released, Helen immediately knows something is up when everyone begins to stare at her while dropping off her kids at school.

Helen calls Noah and demands that he read the story out loud to her, which includes excessive details about a number of cases where Noah has been accused of mistreating women.  Noah looks to Helen, asking her what to do, but he is not the only one who is suffering from the release of this story, as Helen is fired from her job before even starting because of the bad publicity.

4

“I’m very grateful…”

Even though the Solloway family is dealing with a lot right now, Noah turns to Helen and tells her what a great mother she is.  Over the seasons, Noah has constantly placed the blame on someone else.  In this moment; however, he takes a second to reflect on the amazing mother of his children who he has wronged, and yet somehow still stands by him when it comes down to the moments that truly matter.

While I don’t think that Noah deserves a second chance with Helen, I thought this was an important moment worth mentioning.

3

“Do you have any idea what you have done?”

To make things even more dramatic, a fire is spreading across California and Helen evacuates in Sasha’s helicopter after finding out that he picked up her kids.  Helen is initially annoyed that he didn’t say anything, but realizes that he was just trying to help.  However, Helen’s phone continues to blow up and after she makes a statement, only part of her actual statement is used on television, which doesn’t present it in the best light.

Helen is horrified that her children have to witness this, but everything starts to add up when she realizes that Sasha is the one who gave Petra Eden’s name in the first place.  Helen suddenly realizes that Sasha is behind all of this because he wanted writing credits on the movie.  Sasha tries to reason with Helen, but she takes her kids out of there, realizing Sasha’s ulterior motives here.

2

“I just wanted to say hi to the woman who’s ruining my family’s life.”

Part two of the episode is from Whitney’s perspective.  Her phone also starts blowing up when the story about her father is released.  Even though Whitney receives calls and texts from Colin, she decides to call Furkat instead for a shoulder to cry on.  After realizing her mistake when Furkat mistreats her, Whitney gets on the same plane as Audrey Nelson, who is one of the women accusing her father.

Whitney decides to sit right next to her to get some answers and I was really proud of her in this moment.  In the earlier seasons of the series, Whitney was sometimes presented in a selfish and materialistic light, but she has grown so much and has experienced her own misfortune, suddenly realizing that perhaps it really is about the power rather than the man, understanding where Audrey and the other women are coming from all too well.

1

“Why are you still defending him?”

Later in the episode, Whitney comes clean with Colin and he still continues to be there for her, reminding her that she is worthy and special.  This reunion is interrupted; however, when both Noah and Helen show up at Whitney’s place to come up with a plan.  Helen claims that this is all her fault because of Sasha, but Whitney asks her why she is still defending her father?

Whitney explains that part of the reason why she entered into previous destructive relationships was because of what her father did to her mother and she reminds her father that she has seen how he truly looks at women, “like they’re prey.”  Whitney’s awkward encounter with her father in the hot tub comes back up, which is something that Helen was not aware of.

I thought it was important for Whitney to speak her mind here so that Noah can finally see things from another perspective.  Maybe he isn’t completely guilty or innocent, but I am really wondering at this point if his story will lead him to an ultimate redemption or to a darker path of destruction?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Affair below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 10 episode 3: “Ghosts”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 10 episode 3, I realized that sometimes our worst fears and nightmares exist within our own minds.  Can we ever truly shake them or will they continue to wreak havoc on our essence until we face our inner demons once and for all?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Ghosts,” Alpha requests a meeting with Michonne and the others, reminding us that she is always watching.  Meanwhile, Carol’s lack of sleep begins to catch up with her, Eugene gets a reality check, and Siddiq’s trauma continues to overwhelm him.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 10 episode 3 are:

5

“We are going to listen.”

In the beginning of the episode, we are presented with several time stamps, throwing us into quite a bit of chaos, as our group begins to hold off constant waves of walkers.  The group thinks that Alpha is behind this, but Lydia explains that this doesn’t seem like her mother, explaining that her mother would send her entire horde to eliminate them at once if she truly wanted to eliminate them.

After some lack of consensus among the group, Michonne puts her leadership skills to the test and gives a motivational speech, reminding everyone that they need to act as one.  Michonne is ready to honor Alpha’s request for a meeting, but are they putting themselves in even more danger here?

4

“You think our friendship is just nothing?”

Eugene and Rosita get some screen time in this episode and it looks like the sleep deprivation is really allowing the truth to leak out, as Rosita tells Eugene that they are never going to happen.  Eugene is head-over-heels in love with Rosita and while I feel bad for him, I think perhaps he needed to hear this.  Is there someone else out there for Eugene or is it possible that Rosita has repressed some feelings for Eugene?

I’m not sure, but now I have this feeling that Eugene might sacrifice himself to protect Rosita or the baby.  I guess I’ll leave that for a mid-season finale discussion when a main character is typically killed off, but nothing happens by accident on TWD.

“I am trying to make things better.”

Negan recognizes that everyone is on edge and would much prefer to stay in Alexandria in his peaceful garden, but Gabriel doesn’t give him much of a choice, sending him out with Aaron to take out some walkers.  Negan tries to do his part, but Aaron is clearly not a fan, still blaming Negan for what happened to the love of his life.

After some funny moments from Negan, things get a little bit serious when Aaron reminds Negan that he is to blame for the death of his wife and I’m not sure he should be bringing this up, but Negan keeps his cool.  After Aaron is temporarily blinded, Negan actually helps him and you have to wonder why?  Negan claims he is trying to do better, but does he have another reason for keeping Aaron alive?  Either way, it was great to see some well deserved screen time for our favorite anti-hero.

2

“You need to sleep…”

Carol has not been sleeping and she is also taking some kind of pills, but the ghosts become all too real when Carol begins hallucinating.  She sees Henry and we even get an interesting breakfast table scenario with Daryl, which I kind of loved, bringing us this alternate reality to life.  It was difficult to figure out what was real and what was just a dream, but I thought that worked well, as we almost felt like we were right there with Carol, desperately trying to put the pieces together.

Carol is clearly not over what happened and I can’t say that I blame her, but will her quest for vengeance break her in the end?  We’ll have to see what happens next, but I’m hoping that Daryl can help her before it’s too late.

1

“I look at you…and I feel nothing!”

The most exciting part of the episode for me was the meeting with Alpha.  Alpha reminds everyone that she is always watching and schools them all on how many times they have actually crossed the border.  Alpha initially seems like she is ready to follow through on some kind of punishment, but decides that there will be no bloodshed today.

Carol speaks her mind and calls Alpha out on her “bullshit,” bringing a gun to this showdown.  Alpha continues to test limits, telling Carol that Henry called out her name right before they took his head, which pushes Carol over the edge.

Michonne intervenes before Carol can shoot Alpha and Alpha is actually willing to forgive her “mother to mother,” but this is clearly not the end of this rivalry.  Alpha wants more land and reminds them all of their place, but something tells me that Carol is not going to back down at all.

There was a lot of chilling tension in this showdown and I thought it really complimented Carol’s own mental battle.  Alpha wants Carol to fear her, but Carol doesn’t feel anything when it comes to Alpha, but that doesn’t mean that her fears have vanished completely.  Rather, they exist within her own mind, threatening to suffocate her with painful memories and thoughts, which may be even more terrifying.

I thought that the majority of this episode was so well done.  I could have done without the drama between Rosita and Eugene, but I understand that we need to catch up with other characters, but it almost disrupted the chilling tone I was getting from the first half of the episode, which captivated my undivided attention.

Time played such an interesting component in the episode as well, as we got several time stamps in the beginning, a clock waking Carol up, and a watch with no second or minute hand, reminding us that ghosts exist outside of time and space.  They never rest, but perhaps our group needs to take a serious power nap before they face the next threat of walkers.

My main question after watching the episode is…where are these walkers coming from?  Gamma and Lydia say they are not coming from The Whisperers, so what’s actually causing the groups to head in their direction?  I can’t wait to find out.  Stay tuned!

My Ship of the week ending 10/19/19 on TV goes to…

Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones on The CW’s Riverdale season 4.  There’s just something about Bughead that makes your heart skip a beat.

While both Bughead and Varchie had some passionate and fiery moments in season 4 episode 2, Bughead takes the crown for me because they have a bond that transcends all of that, understanding what it truly means to give up everything to do what is best for your partner.  Please note some spoilers are ahead if you are not up-to-date on the series.

In a lot of ways, Betty and Jughead are ahead of their time.  There is a maturity and friendship to their relationship and they really make you think past the temporary moments of passion.  Sure, we love seeing these swoon-worthy parts, but I really enjoy witnessing Betty and Jughead’s selfless moments together even more.

They won’t have an easy year ahead of them, but Betty understands Jughead’s talent and potential and she reminds him that they can get through anything together, which was really inspiring and heartwarming to hear.

Betty and Jughead aren’t perfect by any means.  In fact, I think that both of them have kept their fair share of secrets, but season 4 is really allowing them to flourish.  In a lot of ways, they have moved past their prior mistakes and now they are truly grateful for one another, understanding what really matters in the end…being together.

There doesn’t need to be some epic moment between them because of all of their small moments together make them stand out that much more.  They resemble a real and stable relationship and while I am worried about their future fate now that they will be separated, I have faith in these two no matter what.

Betty and Jughead are both strong characters individually and when they are together, they compliment each other so well and I love seeing them team up for mysteries.

My favorite moment of the episode was during English class when Betty pulled Jughead out in the hallway to tell him to go to Stonewall, reminding him that they are always together.  Betty wants what is best for Jughead and I know that he would do the same for her.

What’s next for Bughead?  We’ll have to wait and see, but I am anxious to find out more about Jughead’s disappearance in the future.  Betty is my go to girl to solve the case, so I know that she will not stop until she finds him, but I am starting to wonder more about what led them to this separate path.

Long distance relationships are never easy, but I know that Betty and Jughead will do everything in their power to stay together.  The King and Queen of the Serpents deserve every bit of happiness, but I have a feeling that someone might try and get in their way.  These two are stronger together, but I am not underestimating either of them and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I’m always rooting for these two and I would love to see some more screen time for both of them, especially since we know that they will really need to work at putting in some quality time together.

What are YOUR thoughts on Bughead?  A dynamic duo or on the outs?

My performance of the week ending 10/19/19 on TV goes to…

Samantha Morton as Alpha on AMC’s The Walking Dead

What makes a truly formidable villain?  I ask myself that a lot whenever I watch a television series, film, or read a book.  There are so many villains emerging across the screen and page, but I find myself drawn to the villains with buried layers.

The ones that make you stop and think about how our choices can lead us down a dark path and how the difference between right and wrong is not always set in stone.

When it comes to TWD, Negan was always my go to villain, but can we really classify him as a villain now?  To me, Negan is more of a former foe and he seems to be growing as an anti-hero.  When The Whisperers were first introduced, we met Alpha and I immediately saw the potential for a villain who would not back down.  Please note some spoilers are ahead if you are not caught up on the series.

Alpha has been making her mark and she really cut deep with that heartbreaking cliffhanger episode in season 9.  Just thinking about it still gives me chills!  There is this raw quality to Alpha.  She is a survivor through and through and she refuses to let weakness taint this instinct.  And yet, when it comes to Alpha herself, she clearly does have a weakness when it comes to her daughter, Lydia.

In season 10, episode 2, we are presented with Alpha’s backstory and it really put things into perspective for me.  I never thought that I would feel any type of sympathy or understanding toward Alpha and yet I now see her in a completely different light.  Alpha gives new meaning to the survival of the fittest concept and she understands that order must be followed to truly maintain power and unity.

However, the slivers of humanity presented make her a complex villain and I really started to think about if we can ever truly classify good guys and bad guys?  After all, the bad guys always think they are the good guys and vice versa, but Alpha’s unconditional love for her daughter does seep into her decisions as a leader.  She initially spares Gamma’s sister’s life because she understands what it feels like to be a mother without her child.

That being said, Alpha understands that she needs to keep this part of her hidden from the rest of the group.  Any sign of weakness on her part could weaken the whole and she knows that examples must be set.

Samantha Morton is absolutely haunting and captivating as Alpha.  There’s something about the way she looks at you, almost like she is looking right through to the very depths of your soul, bringing this necessary and chilling quality to her character.

What’s next for Alpha?  We’ll have to wait and see, but it looks like she is ready to punish our group for crossing the line.  Alpha’s actions can be beyond ruthless, but can Lydia still get through to her somehow?  I have some knowledge of what happens in the comics and I’m wondering if the ultimate showdown will stay true to that or if we have just set up something even more interesting between Carol and Alpha?

I sort of like the idea of these two strong mothers going up against each other, but of course I’m always ready to throw Negan into the mix to shake things up!  Either way, I think that Alpha’s past really revealed so much about her character.  Samantha Morton is fantastic and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Stay tuned for a recognized performance on TV each week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season 14 episode 4: “The Gang Chokes”

Happy Saturday TV fans!  After watching the FXX network’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 14 episode 4, we learned that sometimes it may seem like living life on the edge is worth it, but has the gang gone too far here chasing the rush?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In Wednesday night’s episode, “The Gang Chokes,” the gang goes out to dinner, but a quiet night quickly turns deadly, as a familiar hero shows up to save the day.  My top 5 moments from the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 14 episode 4 are:

5

“Oh god…you people!”

Our favorite waiter from Guigino’s is back at a different restaurant and surprisingly the gang actually remembers him this time.  Now they claim that they can’t get away from him, which was beyond hysterical, bringing us some nostalgia from one of my favorite episodes of all time:  “The Gang Dines Out.”  I love how Mac even wears the exact same outfit with his slicked hair, which makes you wonder if he always wears this when they go out.

4

“I think he’s choking.”

Everything quickly gets out of hand when Frank starts choking; only the gang decides to all stare at him.  No one moves and it’s up to the waiter to save Frank’s life, while the gang watches with fascination.  Poor Frank!

3

“It blew my mind!”

After the incident, it clearly gets the gang thinking. Charlie shows up with an empty box of pizza at Mac and Dennis’s apartment, which is a nice gesture!  It’s after midnight and Dennis doesn’t want to hear about it, but Dee shows up too, claiming that she is now obsessed with getting a rush from nearly dying.  Dennis just wants to go to bed and Dee hilariously asks him if he’s 40 and he reminds her that they are the same age.  No matter what age they are, the laughs keep coming!

2

“What the hell are you doing in my home?”

Our favorite waiter gets some more screen time when Frank decides to break into his home, explaining that “it’s you and me against the world.”  Frank is grateful that the waiter saved his life and now he wants to spend some quality time together, but he has some interesting and creative ideas when it comes to getting rid of the waiter’s sick mother.  Frank taps into the waiter’s dream of going back to pilot school and it looks like this may be the start of a weird friendship, but things quickly go south for these two.

1

“I’ll always save you from now on!”

Mac reveals that he just wants Dennis to depend on him, as we learn that he has been poisoning him with an interesting shake mixed with pizza and soda.  Dee tells Mac that they will need to poison Dennis for real so that they can save his life, but they decide to try and poison Frank so they can make things right.

The plan doesn’t work out so well; however, as Dee ends up taking the poison herself.  The waiter is forced to save her life now as well and Dee wakes up explaining that it was “just lights out” and she no longer wants to chase the rush.

This was the first episode of season 14 that really had me laughing out loud.  I loved that the episode started off with some fun nostalgia, but then branched off into something completely different.  It’s been a while since I’ve laughed out loud at several parts and I’m hoping this trend continues!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
