Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 20: “Welcome to the End”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 20 season finale, I realized that stories can be dangerous, but what happens when the story is over?  When there’s no glimmer of light left to maintain that last bit of hope?  Can we write our own story or is the end clear cut?  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Moriah,” Sam and Dean are visited by an old friend, who claims he just wants to help, but does he?  Meanwhile, Jack’s powers continue to impact the world and Castiel tries to get through to him before it’s too late.  My top 5 moments from the Supernatural season 14 episode 20 season finale are:

5

“Takes one to know one.”

In the beginning of the episode, Sam and Dean try to track down Jack using every resource they can find and Dean comments that he is surrounded by nerds.  However, Sam gently reminds him that he does watch Jeopardy every single night.  I do too, Dean!  I thought this was a clever way to keep a little bit of humor going, as there were so many dramatic and serious moments during the season finale.  Glad to see that Dean is a nerd at heart for sure!

4

“It’s everywhere…”

Jack’s powers continue to spiral out of control, as he demands that everyone stop lying, which causes the entire world to spill the truth about everything.  This can be extremely dangerous, especially when we learn that Sam’s favorite music artist is actually Celine Dion, not Elvis.  Even the president’s lies are being revealed and Crowley gets a special shout out, when we learn that he actually made a deal with him once upon a time.  Sam, Dean, and Castiel recognize that Jack must be behind this, but it looks like they may need some extra help to stop him.

3

“You’re my favorite show!”

Surprise…God, aka Chuck, is back!  It looks like Castiel’s long distance phone call actually worked, as Chuck makes an appearance to help the Winchesters deal with the Jack situation.  Chuck fixes the lying issue with a snap of his fingers, but his solution for Jack is much more complicated.  Chuck presents them with a gun, but he is still working out its name.  Personally I liked “The Equalizer.”  Chuck explains that the gun will work in some kind of quantum leap way and eliminate Jack, but Dean breaks it down and says, “You kill him…you die.”

So who is going to be the one to shoot him and is there any other way?  Castiel wants Chuck to help restore Jack’s soul, but Chuck reminds him that souls are tricky and messy, so it looks like they may not have a choice.  Sam refuses to accept this and asks Chuck why it always has to fall on them.  Chuck reveals that Sam and Dean are his favorites, but they are much more than a story, as this is life to them.  Is Chuck actually helping or is he about to cause even more damage now with his intervention?

2

“I understand.”

Castiel finally reaches Jack and the two sit down to have a father-son talk.  Jack reveals to Castiel that he feels empty and that if he were able to love, he would love him.  Before Castiel can get much further, Dean approaches them with Chuck’s gun, but Castiel and Sam try to stop him.  Jack faces Dean and simply says, “I understand,” recognizing Dean’s decision and what this means, which was absolutely heartbreaking.

Sam tries to get Dean to listen to reason, revealing that perhaps they are only playing out parts in Chuck’s story.  Dean puts the gun down, which frustrates Chuck, who tries to convince him to shoot Jack, promising that he will bring back Mary.  This moment was truly significant for Dean because we know how much Dean loves his mother and he would do anything for her, but even he recognizes that this is not right and that Mary would not want him to do that.

1

“Welcome to the end…”

After Dean turns Chuck down, Sam reminds him that “this isn’t just a story, it’s our lives.”  Chuck replies with, “Have it your way” and begins killing Jack.  Sam shoots Chuck, which stuns him and he officially welcomes them to the end.  The sun is gone and Sam, Dean, and Castiel are surrounded by darkness, as they lean over Jack’s lifeless body.  Jack wakes up in the Empty and Billie is there, so does this mean that perhaps this is not the end for Jack?  Is Jack able to help or intervene somehow?  I’m not sure, but we’ll have to wait and see.  Sam, Dean, and Castiel have a lot to deal with as well, as the souls from hell are released upon the world.  The last scene shows the undead surrounding them, as they all grab a suitable weapon, but they are definitely outnumbered here.

So what does this mean for our favorite characters?  We will now be approaching the final season of SPN and anything goes.  If all the souls have been released from hell, does that mean we could see Crowley in the final season?  We know that Chuck is a storyteller, but what does this actually accomplish?  Is he so fed up with his favorite characters that he is willing to sacrifice the world and start over?  Is he threatened by Jack?  I’m not sure, but it looks like Sam, Dean, and Castiel have a lot to deal with.  Stay tuned for the final season of Supernatural and in the meantime, “Carry on my Wayward son!”

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 19: “Jack in the Box”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 19, I realized that innocence can be dangerous.  Good intentions can easily be manipulated or distorted and trusting the people you care about the most can help or hurt you.  But what happens when that trust is finally broken?  Do we give in to the emptiness or do we still try to find a glimmer of humanity buried within? Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Jack in the Box,” Sam and Dean try to honor Mary and have a meaningful discussion with other Bobby.  Meanwhile, Jack continues to be pestered by Lucifer and is tricked into doing “God’s work” by Duma.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 19 are:

5

“We’re so glad for the time that we had.”

In the beginning of the episode, Sam and Dean hold a memorial service for Mary and invite some of their hunter friends.  Dean talks about how they got a second chance with her and how they really got to know Mary as a person.  He explains that she was strong and stubborn as hell and also mentions that she really couldn’t cook worth a damn, but this moment was truly touching, as we see how many lives Mary influenced over the years.  However, the moment when Dean goes off by himself and is just seen crying was very powerful for me and caused me to shed a few tears of my own.  Dean always tries to be so strong for his friends and family, but when he is by himself, he finally allows himself a moment to truly mourn the loss of his mother.

4

“If his human side is gone, you know what’s left…Lucifer.”

Other Bobby makes an appearance at Mary’s memorial and takes out a monster who was lurking in the crowd, but please make sure he gets his hatchet back!  Bobby actually provides Sam, Dean, and Castiel with some great advice, as he reminds them about what they need to do.  Even other Bobby explains that he has a soft spot for Jack, but he understands that sometimes you need to do what is necessary for the greater good.  Dean seems all for this, but can Castiel and Sam follow along?  We know that they both have a strong connection to Jack and it may be more difficult for them to try and eliminate him, as they understand that he doesn’t fully comprehend his actions.

3

“It doesn’t have to be a dream.”

After Castiel fills Duma in about what’s going on with Jack, she takes this opportunity to use him to her advantage.  Duma is trying to secure her place as the leader of heaven and she manipulates Jack by telling him that Sam and Dean would want him to do God’s work.  However, Jack starts to take some passages from the bible too literally when he actually begins to make them come true.  I even had to turn away from the screen when the worms started eating that pastor from the inside.  Gross!  Jack still has so much naivete, but this is now dangerous because he doesn’t have a soul to truly think about the consequences of his actions.  Jack begins to make going to heaven a reality and he’s even making angels out of humans, which could become a very dangerous threat.

2

“They never loved you…”

Lucifer continues to exist within Jack’s mind and it doesn’t look like he is going anywhere.  Jack tries to tell him that he doesn’t want to listen to him, but Lucifer can be very convincing and he plays on Jack’s weaknesses.  He repeatedly tells Jack that he cannot trust the Winchesters and tries to get Jack to unleash the power within him.  Is Jack a greater threat than Lucifer?  I’m not sure, but it doesn’t help that he has him cheering in his mind’s corner at all times.

1

“I don’t know if I can do it.”

Dean recognizes that they cannot defeat Jack because he is so powerful, but he can be contained.  He circles back to the Ma’lak box, which he was going to use to trap him and Michael once upon a time.  Dean tells Sam that he needs to be the one to lie to Jack, but Sam is not sure that he can do this.  Jack trusts Sam so completely and Dean knows that he will do what he says, promising that they are working on some sort of spell to restore Jack’s soul even though this is not true.  Sam does what he has to and locks Jack inside, but his guilt is overwhelming him.

Castiel eliminates Duma and tries to tell the Winchesters that Jack was tricked, but it’s too late.  The trust has been broken and Jack is actually able to tap into enough of his power to break free from the box with Lucifer’s support.  Jack stares at Sam, Dean, and Castiel with glowing eyes, suggesting that he has become something even more powerful.  Is there any way to stop Jack?  Stay tuned for the season finale next week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 18: “Absence”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 18, Dean reminded us that sometimes we get a “get out of jail free card,” but nothing is ever really for free and everything has its price.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Absence,” Sam and Dean try to track down Jack and Mary with Rowena’s help and make a shocking discovery.  Meanwhile, Jack continues to be burdened by his guilt and receives a visit from an unlikely guide.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 18 are:

5

“You cannot come back from that.”

After the major cliffhanger last week, we catch up with Jack, who is having trouble processing his actions.  Jack is greeted by Nick…or Lucifer…or actually him in his subconscious.  Nick/Lucifer/Jack channels his inner Jiminy Cricket and acts as a sort of guide or conscience for Jack, but what direction is he really pulling him toward?  Jack desperately wants to find a way to make things right and bring Mary back, as he realizes that Sam and Dean may never forgive him, but can he really accept the consequences of his actions?

4

“They were never alone.”

Even though we find out that Mary Winchester is truly gone, we get to see her in a series of flashbacks done brilliantly in black and white sprinkled throughout the episode.  One of my favorite flashbacks featured her and Castiel when Mary first returned from the dead.  Castiel asks Mary if she is still afraid of him and it was interesting to see how much of an impact Mary made on each and every one of them.  Later in the memory, Castiel tells Mary how happy Sam and Dean are now that she has returned to them so they don’t have to be alone and she tells Castiel that they were never alone, truly appreciating how much Castiel has looked after Sam and Dean for so many years like family.

3

“Don’t even say her name.”

Once Sam and Dean begin to realize that something terrible has happened, Dean’s anger gets the best of him.  Castiel comes clean with Dean and explains that he knew that something was wrong with Jack and Dean says, “If he did something to her then you’re dead to me.”  Castiel tries to explain that he was scared and that he wanted to believe that Jack was good, which is understandable, but we know that Dean has gone through so much and has a beautiful bond with Mary.  It was heartbreaking to see this reaction, but I’m hoping that he will follow Mary’s lead and continue to try and do the right thing.  However, I constantly notice that Sam, Dean, and Castiel keep things from one another to protect them and it seems like Jack has picked up on this behavior as well.  Maybe it’s about time they begin to share everything with one another to avoid moments like this.

2

“Mary Winchester is no longer on this earth.”

Sam and Dean look to Rowena for help, but Jack has the same idea.  Jack tries so hard to make things right, but sometimes dead is just dead.  Rowena was absolutely fantastic in this episode and it was interesting to see her try and reason with Jack.  She could have tried to fight him, but she tries to get through to him, telling him that they all want the same thing, which really shows how far Rowena has come as a character.  However, it looks like it might be too late for Jack, as he fails to bring Mary back and he is left with his subconscious Nick/Lucifer/Jack telling him that he can no longer trust the Winchesters.  Is Jack too far gone or is there some way they can still reach him?

1

“She is happy.”

The most resonating moment for me was when we got to see Dean’s flashback of Mary.  It wasn’t a long conversation or some epic moment.  It was just the two of them driving back together with Mary sleeping on his shoulder.  I thought that this memory was so powerful and important, reminding us that it’s the series of little moments that truly count.  Even though Mary is gone, Castiel peeks in on her personal heaven and tells Sam and Dean that she is happy and at peace with John.  Mary Winchester is complete even though this may impact Sam and Dean for the rest of their lives, but at least she is not suffering.  I had tears in my eyes when the last scene of the episode focused in on the desk with Sam, Dean, and Mary’s initials all carved in the center of it, reminding us that this bond will never be broken and that they will see each other again one day.  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 17: “Game Night”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 17, Jo reminded us that “we’re all lonely because we’re all alone.”  But does that mean we stop trying to make connections?  Castiel later pointed out that we’re not alone because we have each other, but what happens when the people we count on the most slip away from us?  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Game Night,” Dean gets a disturbing phone call from Donatello that interrupts Game Night with the family.  Meanwhile, Castiel tracks down Jo and asks for her help.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 17 are:

5

“I thought this was supposed to relax him.”

Dean is ready for a fun night with the family, but he gets a little bit too frustrated trying to put together the Mouse Trap game, which was absolutely hilarious.  I definitely shared his frustration, as I remember spending countless hours trying to do the very same thing.  However, this fun moment is interrupted when Dean gets a call from Donatello.  It’s clear that Donatello is in trouble and he needs to go check it out with Sam, so it looks like Game Night will be put on hold for now.

4

“I’m grateful for every day I get to spend with you and Sam.”

Mary is back in this episode and starts talking to Dean about being closed off, but that she’s here for them now.  Dean is very much like his mother so he understands, but I started to notice that Mary was really talking a lot about her feelings for her sons.  She has a brief heart-to-heart talk with both Sam and Dean, which made me wonder if this meant that something big was about to happen to her…

3

“I need your help to contact God.”

Castiel tracks down Jo, played by the wonderful Danneel Ackles, and asks for her help.  Castiel starts off by giving her a lovely set of earrings, but Jo realizes that something is up.  Castiel knows that Jo spent quite a bit of time with Joshua and that he had a connection to God.  Only God can restore Jack’s soul, but why didn’t Castiel inform Sam and Dean about this?  Jo hilariously comments on Castiel’s “lone wolf desperation,” but begrudgingly agrees to help him.  After tracking down the item they need, Castiel places a long distance call to God, but I’m not sure if he got the message.  Let’s hope so!

2

“Nobody stays dead anymore…you know that.”

After Sam and Dean try to track down Donatello, they discover that Nick is there waiting for them.  Nick is surprised when he doesn’t get a “hey, how you been” response, but what is his end game here?  We know that Nick is desperate for Lucifer to return to him, but how is Donatello connected?  Dean comments that Nick is “freakin coco puffs” and he’s not wrong, but that doesn’t make him any less dangerous.  After Jack threatens Nick, he agrees to give up Donatello’s location, but we discover that Nick wants to use Jack’s blood to communicate with a prophet to ultimately find Lucifer and bring him back.

1

“You need help…”

After Sam is severely injured by Nick, Dean contacts Jack and Mary for help.  They track down Nick and Jack is able to stop him before Lucifer takes over, but Jack takes it too far.  He burns Nick alive, killing him, despite Mary’s cries to stop.  Jack tries to rationalize his actions and does heal Sam, but Mary later confronts him about everything and tells him that he needs help.  Jack’s soul has clearly been damaged and he seems to be having trouble controlling his anger and powers.  Jack’s eyes begin glowing, as he tries to make everything stop and we get a major cliffhanger when he simply says, “Mary” at the end before the screen goes black.

It doesn’t look good for Mary here and her loving words to her sons earlier in the episode convince me that she is gone for good.  However, I can’t help thinking about how Nick reminded us that “nobody stays dead anymore” and he’s spot on.  However, it seems unlikely that both Nick and Mary will be returned to life so is there some other loophole here?  Jack has ultimately become even more dangerous and I’m not sure how he will face Sam and Dean now.  I’m sure that he will try to spin the story some other way, but it’s only a matter of time before the Winchesters ultimately need to face off against Jack before it’s too late.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 16: “Don’t Go in the Woods”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 16, I remembered that I will never go in the woods pretty much ever.  I’m not a fan of camping or hiking as it is and I’ve seen enough scary movies to convince me to stay far away from the woods after dark and this episode continued to reinforce that fear.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Don’t Go in the Woods,” Sam and Dean investigate a case at Big Creek State Park in Iowa after a girl is brutally attacked by an “animal.”  Meanwhile, Jack is given a mission of his own and meets up with Max and some of her friends.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 16 are:

5

“My mission is shopping.”

Sam and Dean decide that it may not be the best idea to have Jack tag along on their case right now since he has been going through quite a lot and they don’t really know if they can trust his powers just yet.  However, Jack gets his own special mission, as Dean provides him with a very important shopping list for supplies, which includes beer, listed twice.  I mean, it is pretty important, but I started to wonder what Jack would do for ID and it’s funny how this came up later on.

4

“The Ghostfacers are cool.”

So, I am a Supernatural fan for life and I love any excuse to mention the Ghostfacers.  I was extremely excited to see a fun cameo from them in this episode.  When Jack heads out on his important shopping mission, he runs into Max and some of her friends on the way.  As a reminder, we saw Max and her friends in episode, “Lebanon,” earlier this season.  One of Max’s friends is watching a video on his phone of the Ghostfacers and Jack says he has never heard of them.  We get to see a quick clip of them saying, “Winchesters still suck ass though,” which is absolutely hilarious.  I’d love to get another full Ghostfacer episode for sure and you can’t help loving their catchy theme song, which you can listen to here!

Max and her friends tell Jack that they know about the whole hunting thing and Jack tries to play it off by asking, “What’s a ghost?”  Jack is relieved that they know about everything and it looks like he may get the chance to actually hang out with some kids his own age.  Then again, he is only two…twenty…two.

3

“I can fix this.”

It initially seems like Jack is fitting in with his new group of friends, as he is extremely excited to invite them into the world of demons and monsters.  Jack even shows off his abilities and is asked:  “Dude, are you like a Jedi or something?”  However, as this started, I began to worry that Jack was not in control of his powers and that the impact on his soul would prevent him from knowing where the line is.  After Jack went a little bit crazy with the angel blade, one of the girls is accidentally stabbed.  Jack is able to heal her, but his new friends tell him to stay away.  Is Jack truly dangerous?  I don’t think that Jack has bad intentions, but losing part of your soul and not understanding right from wrong is not something to be taken lightly, especially since Jack may be the most powerful being in the world right now.

2

“We hunt these things.”

As Sam and Dean investigate the case further, they realize that they may be dealing with a Kahunta.  It means whistler and the Kahunta can certainly carry a creepy tune, which sort of reminded me of a darker version of Negan’s whistle from TWD.  The sheriff in town seems to know a lot more than he is initially letting on and we find out that the Kahunta was actually made.  It’s a curse and the being would always be starving unless he fed, but if he failed to, he would then be forced to feed on himself.  The Kahunta is definitely not a looker and even has this burning type of ooze that drips from his mouth, which had my stomach turning.  Sam and Dean work with the sheriff to stop him once and for all, but the sheriff tries to ask them why they don’t just tell people that monsters exist.  Sam and Dean explain that knowing about monsters and fighting them are two different things and that people still ultimately die.  I thought this moment was important and relevant, especially since it connected to what Jack is dealing with right now.  Luckily, teamwork ends up panning out here and the Kahunta is taken out once and for all.  “Gesundheit!”

1

“It was crappy of us not to tell you.”

After the encounter with the sheriff, Sam and Dean realize that they need to be honest with Jack about their concerns.  Sam and Dean come clean with him and tell Jack that he deserves the truth.  Jack says he understands and won’t use his powers without permission.  However, Jack does not tell Sam and Dean about what happened, which is very concerning.  Is Jack trying to protect himself or is there something else going on here?  Either way, it’s not a good sign that he is keeping his family in the dark.  Stay tuned!  New episodes return April 4th

**Supernatural has announced that season 15 will be its last.  15 is a very lucky and significant number to me so although it is bitter sweet, I think it is the right call for the series to end after next season. Carry on my Wayward Son.  SPN never really ends though, as it will continue to live on through its SPN family.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 15: “Yeah I told him about the Cardigan”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 15, I learned that living in a picturesque town is not always as perfect as it may seem, but gee golly, I thought it was swell to see Sam Winchester in some glasses with a snazzy cardigan.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Peace of Mind,” Sam and Castiel team up to investigate a case in Arkansas, as Sam is in desperate need of a distraction.  Meanwhile, Dean takes Jack on a field trip to go see our good pal, Donatello.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 15 are:

5

“I feel different now…not like before.”

After all of the chaos from last week’s episode, Jack seems to be coping well, but he recognizes that he doesn’t feel the same as before.  Jack has his wings back and may now be the most powerful being in the world, but killing Michael must have taken a toll on his soul.  Castiel is extremely worried about this, as Jack may not realize how important it is to maintain one’s soul.  What will be unleashed as a result?  We’ll have to wait and see, but the setup should not be ignored here.

4

“Like a ripe melon on the sun.”

Sam cannot sleep and wants to take on another case, but changes it up by going with Castiel.  I have to say that I absolutely love this duo together, as Sam and Castiel investigate a mysterious death involving Conrad’s head exploding.  They learn that Conrad was from the town of Charming Acres, which has a Pleasantville type feel or as Castiel comments, that he feels like they are “stepping into a Saturday Evening Post,” which Castiel finds very soothing before bedtime.  Good to know!  Sam and Castiel end up at Harrington’s diner and are urged to try one of their milk shakes.  I mean, who doesn’t love a good milkshake?  Castiel tries to strike up a conversation about the murder, but is a little bit too graphic with his description of a head exploding, as he hilariously tries to soften the blow by explaining it was “like a ripe melon on the sun.”  Love the effort, Cass!

3

“WWWD aka What Would the Winchesters Do?”

After chatting about Dean’s love for bacon, Dean takes Jack on a field trip to figure out how much of his soul is gone.  Jack is spending quite a bit of time with his new pet snake so perhaps a little time outside might be good for him.  Dean takes Jack to Donatello, understanding that Donatello will probably be able to sense whether or not Jack has a soul.  Donatello has a good talk with Jack and explains that he feels nothing and that “it’s an absence of pity, of empathy, of humanity.”  Jack still doesn’t really know how he feels and Donatello gives him some advice, explaining that he thinks about what Mr. Rogers would do when he is in doubt, which is the best man he knows.  Jack has no idea who Mr. Rogers is, but he does determine that Sam and Dean are the best men he knows, which is beyond touching.  However, all is not completely right, as Jack takes his empathy to another level, disintegrating his snake with his mind so that he can be in heaven with his previous owner, as Castiel watches from afar with concern.

“He has beautiful hair.”

Castiel recognizes that something goes wrong in Charming Acres, as Sam now thinks he is Justin from the town.  He completes his look with glasses, a cardigan, and his hair slicked back.  Castiel doesn’t know if Sam is under a spell or mind control, but he tries his best to get through to him, but Sam tells him that he is Justin Smith and warns Castiel to watch his mouth.  Sam tells his new wife to grab Castiel’s hat so he can leave, but Castiel hilariously explains that he doesn’t wear a hat.  Luckily, the mind control is broken and the mayor of the town is forced to reside in his own happy place within his mind.  I absolutely loved the interactions between Sam and Castiel here, which gave us some fun humor to break up the drama going on with Jack.  More of this please!

1

“This is my home.  This is our home.”

When Sam and Castiel return home, Sam is annoyed that Castiel told Dean about the cardigan, but I mean he really did pull it off well.  Sam says that the happiness there wasn’t real and confides in Dean that he keeps seeing Maggie and the others, as the guilt and grief overwhelms him at home.  Sam recognizes that he can’t keep running away; however, but will time really fix everything?  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 14: “Everything Means Something”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 14, I learned that volatile magic is not to be taken lightly.  Even if the big bad is gone, there is always a consequence and it might be one the Winchester brothers never see coming.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Ouroboros,” Sam and Dean continue to try and track down a new threat with the assistance of Jack and Castiel.  Rowena joins Team Winchester as well, but gets an uninvited guest who tries to break up the party.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 14 are:

5

“I’m on a first name basis with some psycho pen pal…”

During the episode, a new threat begins to leave corpses behind after he feasts on their organs.  Gross.  He uses venom to numb his victims before he starts his work and Sam and Dean have been trying to catch him for a little while now.  We soon learn that the threat, Noah, has some kind of connection or interest in Dean, as he leaves behind a note for him with the victim’s body in the truck.  Noah says he can see Dean, Sam, and Rowena, but he cannot detect Castiel or Jack for some reason, which means he cannot see angels.  This gives Team Winchester the advantage, as they try to put a stop to him once and for all.

4

“I thought my performance was quite magnificent.”

It always is, Rowena, and it’s always wonderful to see our favorite witch on the show.  Rowena tries to help the Winchester brothers defeat Noah and points out that there are other ways of doing things besides posing as the FBI, which is an excellent point.  Rowena and Sam show up at the vet with their adorable dog, Jack, in order to get the anti-venom they need.  This moment is a lot of fun for sure, but Rowena recognizes that something is not right with Jack and asks Sam what he did to him, feeling the volatile magic within.  There are always consequences to everything and even Jack begins showing signs that he may be over abusing his powers.

3

“The hurt will remind you how much you loved them.”

In a touching moment, Castiel sits down with Jack to talk about everything and tries to explain that Sam and Dean are human and that they will eventually be gone and that they will need to carry on.  He says that losing people is part of growing up, but Jack asks, “What’s the point?”  Jack is still very naive and young in so many ways, but he has a big heart and he just wants to help the people he loves.  Castiel really does a great job with the whole father-son speech, as he tells Jack that the point is that they were here and he got to know them.  It may be awful, but it’s also part of living and this moment proves just how far Castiel has come from the beginning of the series.  Castiel has shown so many signs of humanity, but we know that The Empty is still lingering around, waiting to take Castiel away once and for all.  After all, happily ever after does not last very long on Supernatural.

2

“And you do care about them…so say yes.”

After Noah is defeated, Dean will not wake up and everyone begins to panic.  Dean eventually wakes up screaming, as we find out that Michael is gone from his mind.  Maggie and the others in the bunker are killed and Michael possesses Rowena.  Castiel says that Rowena would have never said yes, but Michael plays on her own growing humanity, as he tells her that he will kill everyone she cares about if she doesn’t say yes.  The choice is up to her, but Rowena ultimately does this to try and protect her friends, which proves that Rowena may not be a villain anymore after all.  However, there is that pesky prophecy about Sam killing her in the end.

1

“I am a Winchester…you won’t hurt anyone ever again.”

Jack refuses to stand by and do nothing, as he uses his powers to kill Michael and free Rowena.  Jack’s wings return and he says, “I’m me again,” but at what cost?  Volatile magic is not something to be taken lightly and Jack may have just released an even bigger threat than Michael.  Does this mean that Jack’s soul is gone?  What other consequences will emerge?  There are still so many unanswered questions, but I have to say that I am really happy that Michael is gone once and for all.  I felt like this story-line was over a long time ago and was being dragged out, so it’s nice to see this threat eliminated, but this is also not the end that Billie predicted.  Has Jack changed the course of fate?  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 13: “Who’s Been Playing Back to the Future?”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 13, I was so unbelievably happy with the 300th episode of this brilliant show.  The Winchester brothers have been through so much together and it often seems like they don’t really get a break.  However, this episode marked a milestone for the show and gave us the chance to see one of the most heartwarming moments of the entire series.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Lebanon,” Sam and Dean stumble upon some occult items and realize that they have the opportunity to make one of their wishes come true.  While they could have never guessed what they would end up with, they quickly realize that there are consequences to altering timelines, but are they ready to go back to reality?  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 13 are:

5

“Baby, please tell me you’re not hurt…”

In the beginning of the episode, several teenagers are hilariously commenting on Sam and Dean’s presence and ask, “Where do they even come from?”  A girl named Max decides to take Dean’s beloved car for a ride, but it seems like the teens are just looking for some fun in a small town.  After tracking the teens down to an abandoned house at a party, Dean is beyond relieved to see that Baby is OK and so am I!  Either way, it was very funny to see the commentary on Sam and Dean and what they could possibly be up to now, which I thought was a fun and clever way to pay tribute to the fans who have been watching the Winchester brothers for 300 episodes.

4

“A serial killer clown…”

Poor Sam.  Sam and Dean quickly realize that the teens took the box of occult items out of the car and a “serial killer clown” is unleashed, which is beyond terrifying for Sam.  We know that Sam does just fine with serial killers, but a clown is an entirely different story.  I thought this was a fun throwback as well to some of the earlier episodes where we witness Sam’s overwhelming fear of clowns.  Maybe we needed to throw in a Yorkie chasing Dean to even the score, however.  Either way, it was a lot of fun and I was immediately drawn in to some SPN nostalgia.

3

“I don’t know that reference.”

During the episode, Sam and Dean discover that they have a pearl that will grant them their “heart’s desire.”  Dean wants to use it to cast Michael out of his head, but the pearl discovers something else that Dean has been longing for all this time.  However, while this wish takes place, it alters the Winchester’s timeline and we discover that Castiel no longer knows the Winchester brothers and he certainly doesn’t know any references either.  Zachariah, played by Kurt Fuller, is also alive and well, but immediately recognizes that someone has been playing “Back to the Future.”  Either way, I thought this was a fun guest appearance and it really made me think about how far Castiel has come with understanding pop culture references.  I mean, he did learn a lot from that pizza man…

2

“You run a law firm and love kale.”

As Sam and Dean discover that they have created a “temporal paradox,” they realize that they are also in danger of changing into these alternate timeline characters.  While Dean has his “Blue Steel” look down pat for his most wanted picture, Sam has become “internet famous,” although I have to say that I really liked Sam’s glasses.  I’m not so sure about the raw food diet, however.  Either way, the Winchester brothers realize that they have to change things back or they will face further consequences, but are they ready to say goodbye to who they summoned?

1

“One family dinner…all together.”

I tried to contain this spoiler as much as possible until we reached the number one moment, but I’m sure that you have already discovered that John Winchester has returned, played by the absolutely brilliant, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.  I mean, you can’t top this special guest appearance.  Happy 300th episode everyone!  When Dean wished for what his heart most desires, I almost fell off my couch when he asked, “Dad?” and John Winchester appeared on my screen.  I have been waiting to see John return for quite some time and we know that characters tend to not stay gone for long on this show even if they have died before.  After all, we have resurrection spells, characters returning from hell or purgatory, and characters in another dimension.  However, John Winchester has not been one of those characters to return, even though I have wished for it so many times before.

Even though Sam and Dean realize that they need to return everything as it was to keep their reality intact, they decide to have one family dinner all together.  The reunion between Mary and John was beyond beautiful and romantic, as I had tears in my eyes the entire time.  Sam finally got to talk to his Dad about their previous argument and Dean’s wish of having a family dinner all together came true, which was truly the most magical and heartwarming moment I have ever witnessed on the show.  Even though John could not stay, he reminded his sons to take care of each other and we know that they will continue to do so for the rest of time.  I was so incredibly moved by this episode and I couldn’t have asked for anything more to celebrate 300 amazing episodes with my SPN family.  Stay tuned!  New episodes return March 7th!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 12: “Prophet and Loss”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 12, I realized that “if there’s a spark or hope, you have to try.”  Even if it seems impossible, sometimes you just have to keep trying for those around you.  They aren’t going to give up on you so maybe you shouldn’t give up either, Dean Winchester.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Prophet and Loss,” Sam and Dean go on one last case, but Sam is not ready to give up on his brother just yet.  Meanwhile, Nick continues to search for his purpose.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 12 are:

5

“I know you’re scared.”

In the beginning of the episode, Sam tries to talk with Dean, but Dean brushes off his feelings and says it doesn’t matter.  Only it does matter to Sam and it really should matter to Dean as well, but we know that Dean is not good at letting his emotions out.  However, he may not get the chance to tell Sam how he really feels if he is buried in a coffin alive…forever.  I can’t even imagine.

4

“One last case for the Winchester boys…”

Let’s hope not, especially since Supernatural has just been renewed for season 15.  Yay!  Luckily, the episode does not focus entirely on Dean’s morbid goodbye.  The brothers have a case and learn that the ancient language has been carved into victims, suggesting that there is a prophet connection here.  We quickly learn that there is a killer prophet, Tony Alvarez, on the loose, who was supposed to be next in line after Donatello.  After Tony takes his own life, Sam and Dean realize that they need to find out what is going on with the prophet line before it’s too late.

3

“You chose Lucifer.”

During the episode, Nick escapes the hospital and ends up returning home.  The ghost of his wife, Sarah, tries to get Nick to see the light, but all he desires is darkness.  Nick desperately wants Lucifer to return to him, suggesting that is what he has wanted this entire time.  The void inside Nick is not from missing his family, as he is too far gone to even really understand that he could help his wife’s spirit move on if he would just let go of Lucifer.  Nick is unable to do so, which suggests that Lucifer can’t be buried forever.  But when will he make his return?

2

“Mr. Winchester and the other Mr. Winchester.”

Castiel hilariously poses as a doctor, but still needs to work on his cover story.  But that’s why we adore him so much.  After Donatello wakes up, Castiel has a heart-to-heart talk with Dean and tells him that he won’t sit by and watch him execute this suicidal plan.  Castiel’s love for Dean is unconditional and it’s clear that he cares about him more than anything else in the world.  Dean is very stubborn, but he has to understand that he has friends and family members who will do anything for him.

1

“I believe in us.”

At the end of the episode, Sam refuses to take it anymore and tells Dean that “we’re the guys who save the world.  We don’t just check out of it.”  Sam feels like Dean is quitting on him and he puts everything out on the table, desperately trying to get through to his brother.  Sam even punches Dean, which shows how far he is willing to go.  Sam cannot keep his emotions bottled inside and his love for his brother is truly touching.  Dean finally agrees that he will try and find another way, but expects Sam to stick by his side if he does need to ultimately check out of this world.  I have to say that Jared Padalecki’s performance here was very moving, as he touched my heart and soul and even caused me to shed a few tears of my very own.  Now that Dean is back in the game, where do they go from here?  Rowena has been trying to find out information to no avail, but is there someone else out there who can help?  Stay tuned!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 11: “It’s the Only Sane Play I’ve Got”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 11, I realized that sometimes we are faced with an impossible choice.  We always want to see the good in others and find another solution, but what happens when there is no other way?  Do we give up and support the ones we love or do we keep fighting and risk it all?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Damaged Goods,” Dean visits Donna and Mary, as he prepares himself for what’s to come.  Meanwhile, Nick continues to hunt down Abraxas and Sam is left with a difficult decision to make.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 11 are:

5

“Best burger ever.”

On the way to visit his mom, Dean stops to visit Sheriff Donna and it’s always wonderful to see her.  I absolutely love the friendship between these two and Donna quickly realizes that something is going on with Dean, but is he ready to let anyone in yet?  Either way, it’s nice to see these two reunite over a quick meal.

4

“Winchester Surprise.”

So what exactly is in the “Winchester Surprise” meal other than a lot of grease?  I’m not really sure, but I think it’s absolutely adorable that Dean remembers this meal and takes the time to reminisce with his mother, Mary.  Other than the greasy meal, Dean reminds her about getting some pie as well.  While this moment is sweet and heartwarming, it feels like a goodbye and Mary is completely aware that Dean is planning something, but it doesn’t seem like anyone will be able to talk him into a new plan, especially since Billie revealed so much to Dean about what his future holds.

3

“You’re a long way from Delaware, Nick.”

Nick is back in this episode and he is looking to track down Mary, learning that she faced Abraxas a long time ago.  In case you forgot, Nick discovered that the demon, Abraxas, was responsible for the death of his family.  After a run in with Donna, Nick tracks down Mary and she brings him to the box that she trapped Abraxas in.  Nick is clearly running on pure revenge at this point, but is he willing to destroy everyone in his path to get what he wants?

2

“Showtime.”

What’s in the box?  Meet Abraxas.  Abraxas is ready to reveal his motive to Nick, but asks him to kill Mary first.  Luckily, Sam and Dean show up before Mary is harmed, but Nick is not about to leave until he gets what he wants.  Abraxas reveals that he was just following orders, stating that Lucifer had set this plan in motion a long time ago.  This answer does not really satisfy Nick, but I’m not sure that anything would at this point, but is he too far gone?  Sam seems to want to still believe in him, but I’m not sure that there is any humanity left within Nick.

1

“It’s the only sane play I’ve got.”

At the end of the episode, we learn that Dean has been building a box to trap Michael in, but this means that he would be trapped inside along with him for eternity.  For those of you who predicted this alternate ending, congrats!  I want to give a special shout out to MsMoonshine on Quiz Up who predicted this theory in the Supernatural thread.  Way to go!  Sam is not initially on board with this plan, especially when he finds out that Dean will be trapped in the box in the middle of the ocean.  Dean explains that he initially didn’t tell Sam because he is the only one who can talk him out of it, but he is going through with the plan to save the world.  Sam agrees to help him, but is there another way?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
