Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 9: “Help Everyone”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 9, I realized that sometimes you have to truly ask yourself what to do with the time you have left.  While some days may be easier than other days, it comes down to finding glimmers of goodness in the most unexpected places.  Maybe not everyone is ready to help, but the smallest steps can often make the biggest impact.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Channel 4,” we catch up with our favorite characters…documentary style.  Meanwhile, Morgan takes a wrong step that could have a fatal outcome, Alicia finds a new purpose, and John tells us about the “ugliest mustard” he has ever seen.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 9 are:

5

“We haven’t stopped since…”

In the beginning of the episode, we catch up with our favorite characters, as Al continues to tape each one of them.  We learn that they have continued to help others even after Logan’s cryptic warning at the end of the mid-season finale.  Some of the characters open up more than others, but it looks like things haven’t changed too drastically since we last checked in with our Fear TWD family.

4

“Karma’s a bitch.”

During the documentary, we learn that no one really appreciates Sarah and Wendell’s trucker music…except for Sarah and Wendell.  Sarah also fills us in and lets us know that Logan was playing them all along and just wanted to steal their gas.  We see a clip of Sarah taking the truck and leaving Logan behind, which was funny to watch, but I can’t say that I was really surprised by this revelation.  At least they didn’t drag out the reveal too much.

3

“She would have liked this.”

Our favorite zombie fighting super hero is taking somewhat of a break, as Alicia informs us that she has not killed a walker since after the plane.  Alicia tries changing up her tasks and also takes some time to practice using her staff with Morgan.  Alicia stumbles upon a tree beautifully decorated, which reads:  “If you’re reading this, you’re still here.”  The message hits home for Alicia and she even says that her mother would have really liked something like this.

I’m not sure if Alicia has quite found her Zen yet, but she does decide to track down the person leaving the messages, which gives us a new mission for our girl.  Alicia has been broken before, but she somehow always manages to find her inner strength to pull through and I personally can’t wait to see what she does next.

2

“50/50.”

Even though the majority of the episode had a slower transitional feel for me, we did get a little action with some landmines when the group goes to help a woman named Tess in need.  After discovering that the woman’s husband is dead and tracking down the inhaler she needs for her young son, Morgan feels a connection to this one, which brings up feelings about his own wife and son.

Morgan tries to get to the house and steps on one of the landmines, but luckily Al has some experience with this…except she’s only about 50/50 sure that her plan will work.  Luckily, Tess decides to step out of her house after two years to help save Morgan and everyone is OK for now, but this one was definitely a close call.

1

“Sometimes you just can’t say goodbye…”

After Morgan’s close call, he reveals that he understands that sometimes it is beyond difficult to say goodbye and realizes that he still hasn’t truly said goodbye to his wife and son and he’s not sure how to.  I thought this was a beautiful and vulnerable moment for Morgan and I’m starting to understand more and more why he keeps busy by helping others.

Morgan still wants to help everyone and we get several motivational comments from everyone toward the end of the documentary, which was nice and all, but I was starting to think that nothing much was going to happen in this episode at all.  We learn that the tapes are being used to inspire others to help, but it’s not going to be easy to convince everyone to change.

We do get somewhat of a setup at the very end and discover that Logan is far from gone, as we catch up with him and his new team.  His team has plenty of bullets to go around, but they are still looking for gas.  It looks like Logan’s boots weren’t really made for walking after all and he still has a score to settle, so our group better watch out.  Let’s just hope the pace picks up for the next episodes because I am craving some walker frenzy action for sure.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 8: “Is Anybody Out There?”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 8, I realized that if you haven’t seen a whole lot of good lately, you could have some coming your way, but nothing is ever guaranteed when you are trying to survive during the zombie apocalypse.  Even when all hope seems to be lost, you need to find a reason to live and when you find that reason…hold on to it as long as you can!  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Is Anybody Out There?” Alicia, Morgan, and Grace deal with a walker horde looking to hitch a ride on their flight.  Meanwhile, June makes John a promise, and Sarah and Wendell try to get the runway ready, but run into a few issues of their own.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 8 are:

5

“You’re going to be OK.”

In the beginning of the episode, Alicia finally gets a break to take a quick hot shower, only it’s to scrub down after being potentially exposed to a radioactive walker.  Alicia’s favorite weapon is in the clear, but what about Alicia?  Grace tells her that they don’t know yet and they have a bigger problem to worry about now that the alarm has sounded, but it looks like Alicia’s fate has yet to be determined.  I’m remaining positive, but I would love to get some confirmation soon that she is in perfect health.  Fingers crossed!

4

“I’m not losing at the game of life!

Even though Sarah is dealing with a lot of pressure trying to get the runway ready for our friends, she keeps the laughs coming.  We get to see Logan again in this episode and Sarah asks him for help, but he doesn’t seem too inclined to get involved.  Sarah warns him that if he calls her “sweetheart” again, he’s going to get a nice shiner to match the one he already has, but luckily Dan the Man later shows up with perfect timing!  As if he is a Christmas miracle himself, he has brought along quite a few strings of Christmas lights for the runway, but will it work?  It’s great to see Dan the Man back in action and even Skidmark is super happy to be reunited with him, which was absolutely adorable!  More Skidmark screen time when new episodes return please!

3

“From the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew I found my reason to live.”

John and Dwight worry that they might not be able to make it to the plane in time and John radios over to June and asks her to promise him that she will take off whether he is there or not.  June does not want to leave without her beloved John, but she does make the promise.  It looks like John’s luck hasn’t run out just yet; however, as he finds the car that Sherry left and they make it to the plane with perfect timing.

After John gets on board, he tells June that there are still so many things he wants to tell her and he proposes to June using one of his hard candy wrappers, which was so incredibly beautiful and romantic.  Of course June says yes and I was literally jumping up and down cheering for these two.  Against all odds, these two continue to give me hope and I can’t get enough of them.  Somehow I feel like Dan the Man is going to officiate the wedding, but this was such an important moment for these two characters and I continue to ship them together so much!

2

“We are still standing!”

We have liftoff!  Al takes in some nice scenery after they lose the hitchhiking walkers from the back of the plane and fly over the ominous cloud headed straight toward them, but they still have to land the plane successfully.  The Christmas light runway is up and running, but Wendell runs into some trouble when a few walkers make their way over to him.  Wendell refuses to give up and crawls over to turn the switch back on and the plane is able to land without anyone getting hurt.  Luckily Wendell is OK as well and he is the hero of the day for me!

Everyone is surprisingly still standing and we even get a touching moment between Daniel and Alicia, who are finally reunited.  Dan the Man also takes a minute to tell Victor that he was wrong and it looks like everything is back to normal for our favorite characters.  Only we know that Logan is still lurking around and of course he now shows up to crash the welcome party.

1

“You’re saying we should trust you?”

Logan is ready to chat with our group and interrupts someone trying to radio over to Morgan for help.  Logan shows up in person and explains that they need to actually be able to get to the people they want to help and that they are not going to be able to.  Of course Logan has a plan and tells the group that Clayton had a backup plan for this and kept a resource site somewhere else, but the location is in his journal.  Luciana perhaps over shares and reveals that they do have the journal and it seems like they are all going to work together to find this mysterious resource location.  Logan claims he is trying to make up for what he did, but is he really?

I don’t trust Logan for one second and it seems like he does not get along very well with this other group so I’m not sure that our favorite characters should get involved here, but they won’t be able to help many others if they can’t get to them.  Is this a trap?  We’ll have to wait and see, but I’m interested to see how this plays out for the second half of the season, as new episodes return August 11th 2019.  Also, congrats to Fear TWD for being renewed for season 6!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 7: “I’ll Hold Them Off”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 7, I realized that “all life is precious,” but it’s important to value your own life just as much as the lives of the people around you.  Sometimes it may seem like sacrifice is the answer, but “impossible shit” still happens so it’s important to keep believing.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Still Standing,” Alicia continues to take out walkers like a boss, desperately trying to get Annie and the other kids to come with her.  Meanwhile, Morgan tries to help Victor and Charlie, and Al opens up to June.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 7 are:

5

“We are both exactly where we’re supposed to be.”

In the beginning of the episode, Alicia takes out the walkers in her way and tries to get through to Annie and the kids.  She explains that she just wants to help, but Annie tells her that she never should have come there.  Meanwhile, Morgan tries to reach Victor and Charlie, who get creative when it comes to setting up a barrier to protect themselves against the radioactive walkers.  Alicia continued to impress me with her perseverance, but Annie was starting to really get on my nerves.  Alicia has placed herself in danger repeatedly to help these children, but is the risk worth it?

4

“I lied to you…”

We check in with John and Dwight for a little while and John continues to have second thoughts about showing Dwight the letter from Sherry.  However, he eventually hands him the letter and apologizes for not giving it to him sooner.  Dwight actually handles it remarkably well and focuses on the fact that he believes that Sherry is still alive.  He even points out that “impossible shit happens” so perhaps he will see Sherry again one day, but it doesn’t look that is going to happen anytime soon, as Dwight now realizes that he needs to help John.  I am really enjoying the friendship and bond between these two and I hope we continue to get some screen time for them.

3

“You are not dead yet.”

Morgan continues to let positivity be his guide, as he tries to help his friends.  After taking a quick tour of Grace’s house before using her truck, Morgan decides to suit up in his hazmat suit so that he can help Grace.  The generator has failed and they are running out of time, but Morgan refuses to give up on her, reminding her that her life matters.

Grace also gives Morgan some advice as well and tells him that “you think everyone’s life is more important than yours” and she may be on to something here.  It seems like both Morgan and Alicia are focusing so much on helping others that they are forgetting about their own lives in the process.  Morgan has been giving out so much advice in season 5 and I thought it was necessary and spot on for Grace to return the favor here.

2

“What do you say to someone who is missing a piece of themselves?”

One of my absolute favorite moments was when we took some time to follow Al and June.  The plane is out of fuel, but luckily Al knows where to find some after her encounter with Isabelle.  Al finally takes June up on her offer and opens up to her about meeting Isabelle.  Of course she doesn’t tell her everything, but she does take the time to explain that she felt something she hadn’t felt in a long time, but knows that she will never see her again.

June’s advice really touched me.  She tells Al that when she thought she would never seen John again, she was grateful for the time they spent together.  She chooses to still believe and tells Al that she will see Isabelle again one day.  While I’m not sure that we will see Isabelle anytime soon, I thought this moment was so real and touching.  It really spoke to me and I’m hoping that June and John are not separated again because I can’t handle it!

1

“I don’t know what you did but I know you made up for it.”

A group of walkers begin to get through Annie’s perimeter and the children are in immediate danger.  Max and Dylan beg Annie to just let Alicia help and she finally agrees.  Alicia runs across the bridge like a boss and takes out walkers left and right.  You can’t help rooting for her in moments like these, as she is a fighter and a complete bad-ass!  However, our girl Alicia is not invincible and she ends up taking out a radioactive walker.  The blood reaches her face and she recognizes that she has just been exposed here.

Alicia doesn’t give up; however, as she continues to give the kids a chance to get to safety.  Morgan radios over to Alicia at the end of the episode and she lies and tells him that she’s OK.  Morgan tells her that it’s time they start living their own lives in addition to helping others and Alicia agrees, realizing that perhaps she doesn’t have too much living left.

Alicia Clark is the heart and soul of this show and she is played brilliantly by Alycia Debnam-Carey.  She continues to impress me again and again and I am wondering what this means for the fate of her character.  Is there any chance that Alicia will be OK?  I’m not so sure, but I’m holding on to the impossible hope that she will be OK somehow.  Maybe the radioactive walker was marked in error or perhaps there is a chance that the blood was somehow not contaminated?

Alicia is the last Clark standing and I’m not sure that I can handle a world without her.  It was heartbreaking enough losing her as Lexa on The 100 and I can’t do it again here!  It looks like we have a lot of action coming our way in episode 8 now that the alarms have sounded, so we will have to stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 6: “We’ve Done the Impossible Before”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 6, I realized that “more things are possible than impossible,” but what happens when you lose that last faint glimmer of hope?  How do you keep going?  Do you hold on to the dream or do you face reality and stop searching for the impossible?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Little Prince,” the group works together to fix the plane, but they are running out of time.  Meanwhile, everyone takes a moment to share something about their feelings, connecting to the people around them.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 6 are:

5

“Off the record…”

Al went through quite the emotional roller coaster in episode 5, but she is trying to stay on track now and fix the plane.  Of course that’s easier said than done, but we take a brief moment for her and June to talk.  June recognizes that perhaps Al went through something when she was taken and reminds her that she once allowed her to talk about everything off the record, now giving Al the chance to do the same.

Al doesn’t share with June, but I thought this was a sweet moment and I actually really like the friendship between these two.  There are a lot of similarities between both characters and they both know what it’s like to shut people out, but it’s great to see that they are now developing so much and growing as characters.

4

“If you don’t do what I say, there’s gonna be another meltdown.”

Even though the majority of the episode is focused on filler share time for the group, we do get some drama, as we get to see Grace again in this episode.  Grace radios over to Morgan and explains that she needs their generator because the one she was using failed.  Grace explains that if the generator works, it will buy them some time, but that they better fix that plane soon.  No pressure guys!

3

“These things are always complicated.”

During the episode, John and Dwight continue their search for Sherry and Dwight doesn’t seem like he is initially up for any over sharing.  However, John continues to open up to him and shows him the scrabble letters he carries around with him from when June first revealed that she loved him.  I think it’s beyond sweet that John still holds on to them and I am still shipping John and June so much!

Dwight recognizes that John is a good person and sees the world a certain way.  He finally opens up a little bit about Sherry and explains that “she chose to give up everything” for him.  John finds a clue in the diner and ends up discovering an infinity note from Sherry or “Honey” in the car.  He reads the letter and discovers that this is the last letter that Sherry plans on writing, telling Dwight that she wants him to move on.

Dwight can tell that Sherry was there and is clearly excited and hopeful over this discovery, but John lies to him and tells him that he didn’t find anything. While I think that Dwight has a right to get some closure here, John recognizes that something like this would completely crush him and he decides to keep that glimmer of hope still going.  Is it the right call?  I’m not so sure, but I completely understand where John is coming from and I think he did this out of the goodness of his heart.  Then again, Dwight also deserves the truth.

2

“Just make sure you’re doing what they really asked.”

While the group is trying to fix the plane, Annie tries to convince Max and Dylan to leave with her.  Alicia explains that it’s not safe and desperately tries to get through to Annie.  Annie finally releases the guard around her and tells Alicia what happened with their parents.  She watched them all get sick after they were exposed to the radioactive walkers and was told to keep the group of children safe.  Annie has been carrying this burden around with her this entire time, which is no easy task for anyone.  Alicia recognizes where she is coming from and tells her that she constantly thinks about the last thing her own mother told her.

Annie still seems convinced that the right decision is to go back to hiding behind the dead, but Alicia asks her an important question, wondering if Annie finds surrounding herself with the dead easier than surrounding herself with the living.  Alicia understands what it feels like to want to run away, but she has gone through something very similar and wants to help Annie too.  Annie and the kids ultimately leave, but Alicia decides that she’s going in, even though she will need to make her way through a large group of walkers.  While Alicia Clark is my favorite zombie super hero, she is outnumbered here, but it looks like she is not giving up without a fight!

1

“Roads are not a necessary ingredient to this journey.”

While the group is working on the plane, Victor, Charlie, and Sarah continue to try and work on things on their end, but they don’t know how they are going to get to their friends.  It seems like the answer has been in front of them the whole time, as Charlie shows them a picture of our dear good friend Jimbo, sparking the idea to use his inflatable beer hot air balloon to reach their friends.

It looks like everything is working out, but Victor cannot find the perfect “coaster” to land on, as they end up having to put the balloon down very quickly, losing contact with Morgan over the radio.  Victor and Charlie are completely surrounded by walkers and they know that Morgan warned them to stay away from them, but will they be able to get out of this jam unharmed?  Luckily, Morgan has a new staff and he is going in, much like Alicia.  Let’s hope he can reach them in time!  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 5: “You Fall, I Fall.”

Happy Tuesday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 5, I realized that sometimes you need to let something go in order to finally open up to those around you.  It’s up to you to decide if you want to stay in the past or embrace the future.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “The End of Everything,” we finally catch up with Al and learn about her fate after she was taken.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 5 are:

5

“Hey baldy…over here!”

In the beginning of the episode, we catch up with Al after she goes back to find and record her next story.  She is taken by someone in the mask and suit, who is focused on one thing…finding the tape that Al recorded on her camera.  Al wakes up in a car with her hands tied, but she proves just how resourceful she is.  Al spots a walker and calls him over to her.  The walker, or Baldy, takes the bait and Al is able to grab on to the barbed wire around him to free herself.  She then proceeds to take out the walker with the car door, reminding us that she is a bad-ass you do not want to mess with!

4

“I just want to know the truth.  Why are you out here?”

The stranger really should have used handcuffs as Al suggested, but we learn that the masked stranger is a woman.  The woman continues to ask for the tape again and again, but Al is quite stubborn.  We get to see the helicopter with the 3 circle symbol up close and learn that the woman is part of “Ground 17,” whatever that means.  We also learn that there is a Reclamation team ready to swoop in if needed.  So how many teams are there and is the Reclamation team the group that was in contact with Rick and Anne/Jadis on TWD or is this an entirely different branch?  This is a lot to process, but Al is determined to get to the truth…even if she has to risk her life to do so.

3

“Why does any of this matter?”

Al finally gets through to the mysterious woman, hilariously nicknaming her Happy for now, when she agrees to tell Al about what they are doing in exchange for the tape.  Happy doesn’t seem like she wants to share too much, but Al refuses to take no for an answer and continues to question her, revealing the journalist within.

Happy finally asks Al why any of this matters and Al explains that “when we’re gone, our stories will be all that’s left.”  Happy finds Al’s tape, Bog #7, which is extremely important to Al.  Al explains that she lost her brother because she was chasing after the story and this is a reminder.  Happy seems to be opening up more now and explains that “we have the future,” but does that mean she is ready to give up on the present?

2

“You fall, I fall.”

I don’t know why, but when I heard Al repeating this phrase, I kept thinking about The Notebook’s “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird” speech, but I guess it applies here.  In an attempt to get more fuel for the helicopter, it’s time for some extreme rock climbing with an angry walker to make it that much more exciting.  Al and Happy work together to climb up the wall and have a close call, but Al is able to hook on to the walker’s line before it is too late.  I thought Jon Snow’s climb up the wall on GOT was exciting, but Al sure had me on the edge of my seat as well!  They are able to make it to the top together, but Al realizes that once this is all over, Happy will need to kill her because she knows too much.

1

“I want you to live!”

After Al turns over the tape, Happy destroys it, explaining that this is bigger than all of us, but is still pretty cryptic about what she actually means here.  Al realizes that this is the end of the road for her, as Happy tells her to turn around.  Al tells her she gets it and that she finally knows that she chose something other than a story.  She turns over the Bog #7 tape and tells Happy, “Make sure the story matters.”  Happy holds a gun to the back of Al’s head, but has second thoughts and tells her, “I want you to live!”  She explains that her real name is Isabelle and tells Al not to chase this story. She reveals that she has finally witnessed one of the prettiest things ever since the apocalypse started and passionately kisses Al.  I’m still swooning over this kiss!

Al and Isabelle go their separate ways and Al catches up with Morgan and Alicia.  She lies and tells them that she only heard the helicopter and says there is no story.  I thought this was a huge moment for Al’s character.  When she handed over the tape to Isabelle, it’s like she was finally able to free herself from the burden of her past, now ready to open up to the possibilities of the present and the future.  Al even reveals her last name, which I am still having trouble pronouncing, but it just goes to show that she is finally ready to write her own story.

Where is Isabelle going?  I’m not sure, but we still have been left with so many unanswered questions.  Isabelle calls off the Reclamation group, but are we going to have to wait until the movies with Rick Grimes to learn anything concrete about what this group is actually doing?  Either way, I was thoroughly entertained by the episode and I thought that Maggie Grace was brilliant, branching out into a well layered character that continues to surprise me again and again.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 4: “Ready, Skidmark?”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 4, I realized that sometimes you can find a friend in the most unlikely places.  It may seem like being alone is the answer, but we all need a friend every now and again.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Skidmark,” we learn more about Daniel and our new favorite character, Skidmark.  Meanwhile, Alicia begins to worry that Dylan may not be telling the truth, Max and Annie wind up in a dangerous situation, and Victor tries to make amends.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 4 are:

5

“Ready, Skidmark?”

I absolutely adore Daniel’s cat, Skidmark, and it was fun to witness the effective tag team of Daniel, or “Dan the Man,” as Sarah has now hilariously nicknamed him and his trusty cat, Skidmark.  Daniel puts a bell on Skidmark’s collar to distract the walkers, while he takes them out and begins disarming traps that are set up.  Skidmark is quite agile and is able to evade the hungry walkers, proving to be quite useful.  We learn that Daniel inherited the warehouse from whoever set the traps in the first place and he has been working on disarming them all.  Daniel is used to spending his time alone and enjoys a quick meal with Skidmark, but is he ready to be around others again?

“What’s it about…the book?  How can it help?”

Meanwhile, Dylan bonds with Luciana after Alicia and Morgan go out to investigate a camp that Dylan has supposedly seen.  The Little Prince makes an appearance again, as Dylan becomes curious about the story.  Luciana fills him in and these two bond over it.  Dylan helps Luciana fix the tower and eventually comes clean about lying.  He tells the group that he was scared, but it looks like Dylan’s heart is in the right place.  Dylan is even inspired enough by the story of The Little Prince to give Luciana a good idea as well about fixing the plane.  I thought this moment was sweet between these two, as Luciana helped Charlie previously with the book and it seems like she really has a knack for motherhood.

3

“I’m not gonna shoot you in the face…”

During the episode, Daniel and Victor continue to clash, as Daniel does not trust him and refuses to just hand over the plane.  Daniel claims that he is going to “save” Charlie, who he discovers hiding in the back of his truck, but Victor continues to try and prove that he has changed.  He tells the group about Ofelia and how he lied to Daniel to get something he needed.  When Daniel finally discovered the truth about Ofelia, it was too late and he wasn’t able to tell her what he needed to.

Later on, Charlie and Daniel get in a jam and Victor, Sarah, and Wendell come to their rescue.  Victor uses the plane to take out the herd of walkers in a gruesome way, but he saves Daniel, sacrificing the plane in the process.  Daniel recognizes that Victor is truly making an effort here, admitting his past mistakes and trying to make a difference now and tells him, “I’m not gonna shot you in the face,” which I guess is progress for these two.

Either way, I thought this was an important moment for both characters, as Victor finally takes some action rather than just talking about how he wants to do the right thing.  He may never be able to make up for what he did before, but that doesn’t mean he can’t change.  It was also fun to see some screen time for Sarah and Wendell here, who broke up the tension with some laughs as well.  I thoroughly enjoy both characters and hope we get some more screen time for them soon!

2

“What were you going to tell her?”

During the episode, Charlie forms a friendship with Daniel.  They bond over artichoke hearts and music…oh yeah and taking out walkers too!  Perhaps Charlie sees a lot of herself in Daniel, understanding what it means to be alone after you have lost someone you have truly cared for.  These two form a quick friendship and Charlie later asks Daniel what he wanted to tell Ofelia before she died.  Daniel confides in Charlie and tells her:  “That every day brings a chance to start over…a chance to get it right.”  Daniel recognizes that perhaps Charlie needed to hear this too.  Even though Ofelia is gone, Daniel is finally able to say these words out loud and he essentially helps another girl with them in the process.

Daniel asks Charlie to look after Skidmark, as he heads off to do some more work or soul searching perhaps, but it looks like Charlie got through to him and I thought this was a heartwarming moment for both characters.  Will we see Daniel again?  Let’s hope so, since there is a cigar waiting for him, but I’m super happy that Skidmark is now officially part of the group!

1

“What the hell is that?”

This was a jam-packed episode, as Max and Annie also find themselves in a dangerous situation, when Annie hurts her leg and a group of walkers closes in on them.  They had spotted a man in a black suit and helmet who had been taking down one of their barricades of walkers.  Luckily, our favorite dynamic duo, Alicia and Morgan, are there to save the day, but they quickly learn that these kids are not alone, as a group of children surround them, all holding weapons.  Alicia and Morgan realize that the camp is where their parents were and now they are all left alone.  Morgan explains that they can help each other and it looks like the kids are ready for a truce.

Before we can learn too much more, the kids tell them to get down and we see the helicopter with the 3 ringed symbol that picked up Rick and Anne/Jadis in The Walking DeadSo we are now presented with another interesting crossover.  I was very curious about the meaning behind “A” and “B” in TWD and I’m wondering if this will now be explored on Fear TWD.  What else will we discover?  We’ll have to wait and see, but it also looks like we will finally catch up with Al next week and I’m excited about that. Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

My Ship of the week ending 6/22/19 on TV goes to…

John Dorie (like the fish) and June (June Bug) on Fear the Walking Dead! I really can’t say enough about these two, as their relationship gives me all the feels!  In a zombie apocalypse, they are still able to give us swoon-worthy moments that just make you smile.  Please note some spoilers are ahead.  There is just something so incredibly sweet about these two together.  I fell in love with their relationship back in season 4 and I was worried that they wouldn’t get that much screen time in season 5, but episode 3 didn’t disappoint, as these two headed off to the wild wild west together.  I almost felt like they were on a real date, even though those pesky walkers decided to break up the party.

The reason why I love these two together so much is that their love inspires those around them as well.  In season 5 episode 3, they cross paths with Dwight, who is searching for his own lost love, but John and June refuse to let him give up hope, recognizing what it feels like to keep searching for that special someone, even though it seems like it may be impossible.  However, anything is possible with these two…even the impossible and that’s why I adore them so much.

You know how some movies just make you cry uncontrollably when you think about how incredibly romantic they are?  The Notebook comes to mind for me, which I can’t watch without sobbing, but I almost feel like John Dorie and June could star in their own version of an epic love story because their love is that powerful.  There is just something so enchanting and beautiful about it and I just hope that the writers on the show don’t tear them apart.  I honestly couldn’t take it at this point because I have fallen in love with both of them and I will continue to root for them against all odds.

What’s next for John Dorie and June?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but it looks like a lot of new threats are headed their way.  John Dorie is the fastest gun in the west and June can keep up as well, creating a great tag team, but Fear TWD does have a habit of splitting characters up, so I’m just really hoping that doesn’t happen here.  These two are already amazing characters on their own, but together they are something truly remarkable.  I can’t wait to see what happens next for them!

Stay tuned for a recognized Ship on TV each week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 3: “Welcome to the Gulch”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 3, I realized that “there’s words and there’s action” and that it’s always possible for one’s luck to turn around.  You may think that you are on the right track, but what if you discover a new path on the way?  Do you abandon that former journey or do you circle back and chase down the past?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Humbug’s Gulch,” John Dorie and June walk into the wild wild west of walkers and discover another possible threat.  Meanwhile, Alicia tries to get through to the kids over the walkie with Morgan and Luciana’s support.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 3 are:

5

“Welcome to the gulch…”

John Dorie and June come across one of John’s old stomping grounds, Humbug’s Gulch, bringing us right into the wild west.  There’s even a brothel (which apparently just serves soup), a dust storm, and a gun fight to really make you feel like you are in the middle of an old Clint Eastwood movie, but our favorite cowboy, John Dorie, does not disappoint.  John is very familiar with this place, even though theatrics were never really his thing.

June seems interested as well and wants to know if John was a good guy or a bad guy, as they search for suitable weapons and supplies.  John seems focused on getting out of there before they run into more trouble, but this definitely set the scene for a much needed date night for our favorite couple.  Maybe we could do without the walkers though…

4

“We should be comparing notes.”

John and June run into some trouble at the Gulch and in walks our old friend, Dwight.  Hooray!  I’m really happy that we did not have to wait that long for this crossover, as I have been anxiously waiting for it to happen since the season premiere.  Dwight cuts right to the chase and asks them, “Where is she?”  We quickly learn that he is referring to his wife, Sherry, who he has been trying to track down for quite some time.  John and June are such amazing people and they recognize that Dwight is just trying to find his lost love, which is something they are both very familiar with.

John reasons with Dwight to get him to take a breath and calm down so that they can all get out of there together.  Dwight listens to reason as introductions are made and he even gives us a few laughs when he asks John if his last name is “like the fish?”  I guess John’s not the only one to make that connection.  It was also hilarious to see John’s reaction to Dwight referring to the dead as “walkers,” but small talk will need to be put on hold, as they try to get out of the wild west alive.

3

“You don’t have to do it alone.”

Meanwhile, Alicia and Luciana can no longer hear John and June over the walkie, but they do come across a channel that the kids are using.  Dylan, Max, and Annie are still out there and Alicia is determined to help them, even though they repeatedly tell her to stay away.  After a few tries, Alicia decides to just have a real and honest conversation with them.  She tells them, “I know how much you’re hurting…it’s not because I’ve been there.  It’s because I am there.”  Alicia confides in them about losing her own family, trying to make some sort of connection with them.

I thought this moment was extremely important for Alicia because she has been bottling up her own feelings for quite some time and this was very therapeutic for her.  Not only does she have the chance to reach someone else and help them, but she also takes the time to talk about her own feelings, which is not always easy to do.

2

“You’ve got another chance right now…”

John sets off a unique distraction with the piano, as they make their way out the window, only the roof is not going to support their weight for long.  Dwight jumps off the roof, but ends up hurting himself, but he makes it to the car he has been searching for.  Only now, the car is completely surrounded by walkers.  Dwight takes out the note from Sherry which reads:  “West on 30,” accompanied with an infinity sign.  Dwight believes that this is the car from the registration, but he cannot find another message from Sherry, as defeat and hopelessness now overwhelm him.  All hope is not lost; however, as June radios over to him and reminds him that he has another chance right now and that they have all done things they are not proud of.

John and June keep Dwight’s hope alive and get him out of a jam, as John shows off his impressing shooting skills and we even get to witness the famous “San Antonio Split,” which was quite entertaining to watch.  After all, this is apparently only the second time he has been able to pull this off!  Later on, John approaches Dwight and explains that the VIN did not match up and he believes this is not the car and it is possible that there is another one still out there, reminding Dwight not to give up.

John and June have so much goodness within them and I was so happy to see them share a kiss as well, reminding me why I ship these two so much.  They really could have their own movie together, as they have such an epic and beautiful love and they inspire others with it…including me!

1

“We’re all trying to start over.”

At the end of the episode, everyone meets up again and Morgan and Dwight cross paths.  They are shocked to see one another and Dwight immediately tries to explain his past actions, but Morgan stops him and tells him that he doesn’t have to say it, explaining that they are all trying to get a fresh start now.  Alicia asks Dwight to show them how far he got, as they have been trying to figure out what is going on with this perimeter made out of walkers.  The perimeter is quite overwhelming and our favorite characters are ready to get to work to figure out what is on the other side, but they are interrupted when Annie and the others try to reach Alicia over the walkie.

They start to head back to the truck stop, but find Dylan hurt in the van.  Max and Annie are not there, but we quickly learn that they are not so innocent.  We cut to them asking, “Do you think they bought it?”  They continue working on the walker perimeter, but what is their end game here?  Are the children the big bad and how is this connected to Al?  What are their intentions for our group? We know they want them to stay away, but why?  What are they hiding?

This is not the first time we have come across corrupt children in TWD universe who were too far gone to understand right from wrong, but I’m interested to find out more and if there is any room for change.  I also am quite impressed if these three kids were able to do all of this alone, but is someone else pulling their strings?  And if so, who?  I can’t wait to find out more!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 2: “This is why Finding the Dead Matters”

Happy Tuesday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 2, I realized that we don’t always have to fast forward to regrets and a fresh start is within reach.  Is it possible for people to change?  Maybe, but “sometimes all you can do is try,” but is that truly enough during the zombie apocalypse?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Hurt That Will Happen,” Alicia and the others try to find Al and come across a dangerous threat.  Meanwhile, Victor works on making amends with an old friend and Luciana gets trippy on her medication.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 2 are:

5

“Part of me was scared you’d stop looking.”

During this episode, we get a little bit of screen time for our favorite couple on Fear TWD, John and June.  They stumble across Camp Cackleberry, which is creepy on its own, but they quickly discover that they are not alone.  During this time, June talks about how she always kept moving in the past, fearing that John had stopped looking for, but we know that John Dorie’s heart will always belong to June.  While this was a sweet moment for them, it was brief, and I’m looking forward to some more screen time for them.  Although, sometimes more screen time can lead to an untimely death…so maybe not?  Either way, I’m still shipping these two!

4

“This is why finding the dead matters…”

While searching for Al, Morgan meets a mysterious woman in a gas mask and hazmat suit.  We learn that her name is Grace and she tells Morgan that he needs to go through decontamination immediately, as he may have been exposed to radiation.  Alicia steps in and tries to help Morgan, but Grace tells her, “Let me keep you from losing another friend.”  Grace seems genuine and fills Morgan and Alicia in on why this place is so dangerous.  They are near pressurized water reactors that failed and we are now dealing with radioactive walkers…as if they weren’t dangerous enough already.

Luckily, Morgan seems to be OK, although he does need to give up his staff and clothes, but he definitely rocked the “Don’t Mess with Texas” T-shirt with style.  Grace thinks we are dealing with approximately 63 of her former staff members who were exposed and we soon learn that she doesn’t have much time left either.  Grace does not seem to be associated with the group in masks that took Al and is trying to atone for her past mistakes.  Alicia and Morgan ultimately leave to go find Al, but I think having Grace on the other end of a Walkie could come in handy for sure.

3

“You still talk too much, Victor…”

The wait is over and Daniel and Victor finally meet again!  Victor finds Daniel held up in some kind of factory for vehicles and tells him that he needs a small plane to help his friends.  Daniel keeps his guard up and even has an adorable cat named Skidmark, who may have just become my new favorite character!  Victor tries to tell Daniel that he has changed and he is attempting to make up for what happened in Mexico, but Daniel ultimately sends him packing.  Is this the last time we will see Daniel or is there more to come?  We’ll have to stay tuned, but it will be interesting to see what Victor does next to help his friends.

2

“The accordion stuff is from the drugs.”

After a close call in the season 5 premiere, Luciana is recovering from her injury and June tells her she needs to take it easy.  Luciana hilariously asks when she will be able to play the accordion and we learn that this is the drugs talking…not Luciana.  John retrieves the book, The Little Prince, which was extremely thoughtful and sweet.  This book is not the only survivor, as Luciana finds herself barely getting out of a dangerous situation after talking briefly to Victor over the radio.  Several walkers head toward her and the drugs start kicking in with the worst possible timing.

Luckily, Luciana is able to make it back into the truck stop without being harmed, but our new threat decides that leaving a note doesn’t really send a message anymore, as they take out the walkers and decorate the truck stop with their severed reanimated heads.  Seriously, I’m thinking about hiring these guys for some redecorating.  Either way, this reminds us that our new threat is trying to send a message or a warning.  Are our characters getting too close to something?  It looks like that may be the case, but we’ll have to see how this unfolds.  We still don’t know where Al is and those kids from the season 5 premiere are also out there somewhere.

1

“The way out is opening the door to people.”

Alicia’s guilt begins to overwhelm her, feeling responsible for Al’s disappearance.  She says it is her job to keep everyone safe, but Morgan decides to give her some spot on advice, recognizing that he has previously been where Alicia is now.  Morgan tells Alicia, “You don’t know it until somebody tells you.”  He explains that you can’t run away and that there is a way out that involves opening the door to people.

The idea of a fresh start and change really resonated with me in this episode and I love the bond between Morgan and Alicia.  They remind me of two lost souls, slowly finding their way with one another’s support.  Alycia Debnam-Carey continued to impress me in this episode.  She shows off her bad-ass side while taking out any walker that gets in her way, but she also has a softer side.  A side that reminds us that deep down she is still vulnerable and hurt, but that she has the chance to find her way again by helping others.  Stay strong, Alicia!  You’re on the right path.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

My performance of the week ending 6/8/19 on TV goes to…

Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia Clark on Fear the Walking Dead.  As the last Clark standing, our girl Alicia has gone through so much and yet she is now even stronger than before, emerging as a true leader and someone our characters can count on.  Please note some spoilers are ahead.  In the season 5 premiere, Alicia proves just how bad-ass she is.  She works so well with Morgan and the two have formed quite the dynamic duo, taking out walkers left and right, but there is something so magnetic about Alicia.  It’s almost like she has just become the slayer or chosen one in the Walking Dead universe and walkers everywhere better watch out!

I was blown away by Alycia’s performance in season 4, as she really dug deep to unravel the emotions and grief going on within Alicia Clark, but I love that she is continuing to grow more and more as the show goes on.  Alicia is smart and aware of her surroundings, recognizing the potential for threats and bad omens even more so than Morgan, who always wants to find the silver lining in every scenario.  Her mother, Madison, would be so proud of her, as she has really embraced the role of a leader, which is no easy task.

What’s next for Alicia? I’m not sure, but it will be interesting to see how the dynamic shifts once Dwight arrives.  Alicia always has her guard up and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as she is always looking at things from every angle.  These new potential enemies better look out because our girl is not messing around.  There is a sense of empowerment surging through Alicia Clark and I think she may have just become one of my favorite characters on television.  I can’t wait to see what she does next!

Stay tuned for a recognized performance on TV each week!
