“Where did the kids go?”
There’s Something Wrong with the Children originally released on MGM+ back in March 2023, but is now available to stream on Prime Video as of June 15th 2023. The horror film stars Alisha Wainwright, Zach Gilford, Carlos Santos, and Amanda Crew. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-two minutes.
Two couples spend a weekend at a remote cabin in the woods, but when they discover an abandoned fort in the middle of nowhere, the kids start behaving strangely.
Here is the trailer:
There’s Something Wrong with the Children features some genuinely creepy and twisted moments, but is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…
The Pros:

Eerie and weird…
I’ve seen my fair share of movies featuring creepy kids and I thought these two did a decent job. The concept to me was more disturbing than the actual acts done by the kids, but the overall vibe of this film was spine-chilling in an entertaining way.

Solid performances.
There were some familiar faces in this one and I thought everyone did a decent enough job with what they were given. Stand-out performance goes to Alisha Wainwright as Margaret. She delivered and held my attention even when things started to get really really weird…
The Cons:

The adults don’t act in a realistic way at times…
I was scratching my head a little here because there were so many times that the adults acted completely clueless. If I thought someone’s kid was missing, I would be a little bit more concerned and yet these characters just went through the motions as if everything was normal for way too long…
The film had an interesting concept worth exploring, but it didn’t really follow through with it. The ending just left me with a lot of questions and while I think it successfully created a disturbing tone, it just didn’t do enough to stick the landing for me personally. There’s still plenty to enjoy along the way, however.
So am I in or out?

I’m in about 75 percent…
There’s Something Wrong with the Children brings us a new group of creepy kids to have nightmares about, but it could have done a lot more to stand out in this genre.
Either way, this was a mildly entertaining watch if you’re a horror fan.

DON’T TAKE THE JOB…

It was only supposed to be temporary…but when Olivia Crewe accepts a new position that seems too good to be true, she soon discovers that twelve other girls previously had the same job as her. Only none of them lasted for more than thirty days. No notice. Nothing…right before they mysteriously disappeared without a trace.
My supernatural thriller Girl Number Thirteen is out now! I hope you enjoy!
