“There’s something evil in our home…”
The Deliverance released on Netflix on August 30th 2024. The supernatural horror film stars Andra Day, Caleb McLaughlin, Demi Singleton, Mo’Nique, and Glenn Close. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty-two minutes.
Loosely based on a true story, a family in Indiana suspect that their may be a demonic presence in their new home.
Here is the trailer:
The Deliverance takes a stab at this exhausted premise without anything new to say. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…
The Pros:

Glenn Close goes full camp with a batshit crazy performance!
OK, she was the one redeeming part of this film. I almost couldn’t believe that this was her, but she went all out with her portrayal and kept me entertained in an outrageous way. Sure, a lot of it was absurd and didn’t land, but at least she put some effort in, giving this film a little hope.
Unfortunately the pros stop there…
The Cons:

Fails to instill any real tension or effective scares.
The elements were there, but they didn’t connect at all. The jump scares felt completely forced and while there were a few disturbing moments that had some potential, they were presented in such an odd way, never making me feel on edge at any time. I didn’t feel like this was a horror movie. It felt like more of a Lifetime drama with some horror elements slapped on, but this didn’t translate well at all, which was really disappointing.
Takes way too long for anything to happen!
This movie should have only been about ninety minutes. It was super boring with unbelievable dialogue and it took itself way too seriously. The last thirty minutes had some potential, but it was too late at this point.
So am I in or out?

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…
The Deliverance is a silly, pointless, and outrageous watch, but at least Glenn Close goes full camp.
You’re better off pretending it’s a parody of an exorcism film to get a sliver of entertainment. I’d recommend passing on this one. Netflix, please do better with your horror films!

A VACATION TO DIE FOR…

When sisters, Nina and Gemma are vacationing in Hawaii with their friends, they get invited to an exclusive party on a private island that seems too good to be true. There’s only one rule…they can’t miss their ferry at midnight or they’ll have to wait until morning to leave the island. Only they didn’t realize that breaking this rule meant they would be hunted down on the island one by one.
Who will make it off the island alive?
I hope you enjoy my island thriller!
