Spoiler-Free Review of “Together” in Theaters: Delightfully Disturbing!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“This move will be good for both of us…”

Together released in theaters on July 31st 2025. The horror film stars Alison Brie, Dave Franco, and Damon Herriman. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-two minutes.

Real life couple, Dave Franco and Alison Brie, star as Tim and Mille, who move out to the countryside, leaving their friends and loved ones behind while dealing with new strains on their relationship. After going on a hike, they encounter a mysterious force that threatens to bind them together (literally) forever.

Here is the trailer:

Together is bizarre, extreme, and filled with cohesive charm, but does it do enough to be worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Alison Brie & Dave Franco are electric together!

This really should come as no surprise since they are married in real life, but I think it was genius to cast them in a film like this, which relied so heavily on chemistry and connection. I’m not normally into body horror films, but these two sold me on it.

They were relatable and genuinely funny despite the extreme concept, which gave this film a surprising balance of dark rom-com charm and gross out gore. I fell in love with these two on screen and thought they were both fantastic.

They were so committed to this, which worked in the film’s favor. Wow!

Stomach-turning moments!

In a lot of ways, I would say this film was The Substance-lite, which I actually kind of preferred. I don’t like feeling like I’m about to vomit while watching a movie. Don’t get me wrong…there were lots of insane moments if you’re a fan of body horror, but I also appreciated the lore behind it all, which gave it some layered mystery.

The Cons:

The second half is stronger than the first…

I actually really enjoyed this movie and don’t have many cons at all. If I have to nitpick, I would say that this film could have been just a touch shorter. The beginning had some setup that could have been cut out, but I wouldn’t say it got in the way of the pacing that much.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Dave Franco and Alison Brie are a twisted, freaky match made in horror heaven and I’m here for it!

I went into this one not expecting much and it surprised me in all the right ways.

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Bondsman” on Prime: Kevin Bacon Shines!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“You’re supposed to be dead…”

The Bondsman premiered on Prime on April 3rd 2025 with all eight episodes of season one available now. The horror thriller comedy series stars Kevin Bacon, Beth Grant, Jennifer Nettles, Damon Herriman, Maxwell Jenkins, and Jolene Purdy. Each episode runs for approximately 30 minutes.

A murdered bounty hunter is resurrected by the devil to track down demons who have escaped from Hell, giving him the opportunity to make amends for his past mistakes with the help of his family.

Here is the trailer:

The Bondsman is a delightful mashup of Ash vs Evil Dead and Stan Against Evil while creating its own story along the way. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Kevin Bacon is bad-ass and A LOT of fun in this!

Kevin Bacon had one of his first starring roles in Friday the 13th and he proves to be an absolute legend in the horror genre all these years later. I thought he was so much fun as Hub. He had lots of sarcasm and charisma, making it very easy to root for him.

Beth Grant playing his mother, Kitty, was an absolute scene-stealer. She had me laughing out loud. These two made a fantastic team together. I liked the rest of the cast as well and enjoyed the character dynamics.

Short episodes.

It was such a nice and refreshing change to have bite-sized episodes for this. It made it very easy to binge-watch, mirroring the light and fun approach to demon hunting going on. I was able to finish all eight episodes in one day.

The series had a similar plot to the 2013 film R.I.P.D., but I thought that this series was a lot better than that.

It really understood the assignment and just had fun with it, making this so breezy and enjoyable. I loved the vibe similar to shows like Ash vs Evil Dead and Stan Against Evil, working in dark comedy that actually landed. Hub could definitely work together with Ash and Stan and there were even some elements of Supernatural going on, which I LOVED.

The Cons:

I want more!

The end of season one had a major cliffhanger so I really hope that people watch this show because I need more as soon as possible! There’s a lot more left to explore so I hope this show gets the attention it deserves.

My only other con is that this show is nothing new. I’ve seen this plot in numerous series before, however; the execution of it made it stand out, making it a welcomed addition to the genre so I’m really not complaining here.

So am I in or out?

I’m in 100 percent!!!

The Bondsman is a HELL of a good time!

This show exceeded my expectations and then some. Even if this isn’t your typical genre, I’d still recommend checking it out because it has something in it for everyone.

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Tourist” on HBO Max: Memento style action-thriller has its moments

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“It’s what you do now that counts…”

The Tourist released on HBO Max on March 3rd 2022 with all six episodes available to stream now. The action-thriller show stars Jamie Dornan, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Danielle Macdonald and Damon Herriman. Each episode runs for approximately 56-58 minutes.

A man wakes up in the Australian Outback with amnesia as he quickly realizes that someone is trying to kill him.

Here is the trailer:

The Tourist has lots of intense moments and twists to keep you entertained, but is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Decent action scenes…

Each episode does just enough to lure you in for more. There are some really great fight scenes, explosions, and more to satisfy action fans. Jamie Dornan plays his character well and shows us plenty of layers. Fans of Reacher and Memento will most likely enjoy this one.

Twists to keep you coming back for more.

I really enjoyed the twists in this one. The end of the first episode pulled me in for more and I had to know what was going to happen next. The show does a good job of revealing bits and pieces along the way. We don’t know who to trust and we’re just as clueless as our main character in a lot of ways.

The Cons:

Slow moving at times…

The episodes are on the long side and there is a lot of unnecessary fluff that gets in the way. At times this show really dragged for me, but each episode managed to redeem itself with something intense to bring you back in. I just wanted a faster pace overall.

The ending was not really what I expected either but I’m sure there will be mixed feelings on it.

So am I in or out?

I’m in about 75 percent…

The Tourist has a cool premise with lots of action and twists to keep you coming back for more. There were some pacing issues but I think there is plenty to enjoy with this one, especially if you like action-thrillers.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Tourist in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

DON’T TAKE THE JOB…

It was only supposed to be temporary…but when Olivia Crewe accepts a new position that seems too good to be true, she soon discovers that twelve other girls previously had the same job as her. Only none of them lasted for more than thirty days. No notice. Nothing…right before they mysteriously disappeared without a trace.
