Spoiler-Free Review of “Carry-On” on Netflix: Fans of “Die Hard” and “Red Eye” just got a Real Treat!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“One bag for one life…”

Carry-On released on Netflix on December 13th 2024. The action thriller film stars Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman, Sofia Carson, Theo Rossi, and Logan Marshall-Green. It runs for approximately two hours.

A TSA agent is blackmailed by a passenger who threatens to sneak a dangerous package on a plane during the Christmas Eve rush.

Here is the trailer:

Carry-On is a captivating holiday themed action flick that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

So intense!!!

Once the table was set, everything presented on screen was so captivating! I could not look away. I was completely engrossed in the best way possible. I love action thrillers that can achieve this. I honestly haven’t been this excited about an action-thriller since Red Eye and I thought both films had very similar vibes.

Oftentimes, films like this can try to do too much, but this one kept things simple, making this an effortless and entertaining watch.

Recognizable cast!

There were so many familiar faces in this and I thought everyone played their part extremely well. The banter between Bateman and Egerton was fantastic and it was really fun seeing Bateman step out of his typical comedy roles. He was a great villain and kept me guessing.

The Cons:

A touch too long.

I don’t have many cons for this movie. I think it could have been cut down to an hour and forty minutes. Some of the introductory fluff seemed unnecessary to me. The pacing improved drastically once everything was out in the open and I was along for the ride after that completely!

So am I in or out?

I’m in 100 percent!!!

Carry-On is the perfect mash-up of Die Hard and Red Eye, making this an engrossing watch from start to finish.

I was honestly surprised by how much I liked this one. I went into it with lower expectations and it shocked me in the best way possible. I will definitely be re-watching this one again and again!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Lou” on Netflix: “Taken” style Thriller has some Intense Moments

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Turns out I’m not done yet…”

Lou premiered on Netflix on September 23rd 2022. Produced by J.J. Abrams, the action thriller film stars Allison Janney, Jurnee Smollett, and Logan Marshall-Green.  It runs for an hour and forty-seven minutes.

When a young girl is kidnapped during a storm, her mother teams up with her neighbor to track her down, who has a few secrets of her own.

Here is the trailer:

Lou has plenty of intense moments built in with a believable performance from Allison Janney, but does it do enough to earn a a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

The simple moments are perfection!

This film definitely had a gender-swapping Taken feel with some sprinkles of Alone with its setting in the wilderness. The first half of this movie was so good! I was on the edge of my seat and that early fight scene was fantastic! The formula may have been used before, but it worked and was exactly what I was looking for.

Top-notch performances!

Allison Janney was seriously bad-ass in this movie! I’d now love to see a team-up with her and Liam Neeson because she might be able to give him a run for his money! Logan Marshall-Green is always fun to see as well and I thought all of the performances were well done.

The dog, Jax, was a scene stealer!

The Cons:

Over-complicates things with its reveal…

I didn’t hate the reveal, but I thought it took away from the gritty and simple formula that was working so well in this film. There was so much intensity early on and some of that faded away once things were out in the open. The pieces of the puzzle made sense and I was fine with the ending, but I guess I just wanted this film to embrace its early vibe and just go with it.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

If you enjoy action thrillers, there’s plenty to like in this film. Allison Janney is incredible and there are enough suspenseful moments to keep you invested from start to finish.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Big Sky” Season Two Premiere: That Cliffhanger though…

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

Big Sky is back!

Big Sky quickly became one of my favorite shows last year. Sure, the plot went off the rails sometimes but it really had a mystery that hooked you right from the start and its well-placed reveals, twists, and turns kept you coming back for more. I absolutely love this series…no excuses!

As a reminder, the show stars Katheryn Winnick, Kylie Bunbury, Brian Geraghty, and Jesse James Keitel. Season two premiered on September 30th 2021. Weekly episodes will air on ABC.

At the end of season one, we were left with a major cliffhanger. One mystery was wrapped up for the most part while another one still has the potential to make some waves, but what can we expect from season two and will it still pack the same punch?

Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Big Sky Spoiler Free 1

New characters with promise!

I was beyond thrilled to discover that Logan Marshall-Green was joining the cast and we have several returning favorites as well. I thought the first half of Big Sky (season one) was stronger than the second and I connected more with the teens that were abducted off of the highway.

Season two is smart trying to replicate this formula for success as we are introduced to Cassie’s babysitter and several of her friends. They are already lighting up the screen for me and I can’t wait to see what happens next with this new mystery they have become entangled in.

That cliffhanger ending!!!!!!

There will be no spoilers in this review but make sure you stick around until the end of the season two premiere. I almost fell off my chair at that reveal. I was a little worried that the story-line from season one had run its course, but I’m back in 100 percent and I think that we have a good balance going on between the new mystery and that one.

The Cons:

Big Sky Spoiler Free 2

A lot of set-up.

I didn’t really mind it but there was quite a bit of set-up in the season two premiere. I am confident that the reveals will be rewarding enough but I wanted a touch bit more action in the first episode. Either way, I’m intrigued and ready to watch more as soon as possible.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!

This show is my guilty pleasure. I absolutely love watching it and I don’t even care when things don’t make complete sense because it is just so much fun to watch and it really is so addicting.

We have a lot of moving pieces for season two but I think that it has successfully done enough with that ending alone so I will be tuning in every week to find out more.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Big Sky in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Intrusion” on Netflix: Not Your Average Home Invasion Movie…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“We can get through this…”

Intrusion premiered on Netflix on September 22nd 2021. The thriller film stars Freida Pinto, Logan Marshall-Green, Robert John Burke and Megan Elisabeth Kelly. It runs for approximately 90 minutes.

Meera and Henry Parsons are traumatized after a home invasion occurs in their newly built home, shattering their trust in those around them.

Here is the trailer:

Intrusion has a chilling and unsettling impact as it takes a home invasion premise and weaves it into something even more disturbing. But does this film do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Performances with edge.

I was absolutely thrilled to see Freida Pinto in this and I thought she did an excellent job. Logan Marshall-Green was so fantastic in both Upgrade and The Invitation and he is no stranger to this type of movie. I really loved the character dynamics and I thought they both presented us with believable performances worth getting excited about.

I cared about what happened to them which made this movie come to life that much more for me.

A shocking twist.

It’s not always easy presenting the audience with an unpredictable twist and I thought that this film delivered and then some. There will be no spoilers in this review, but I was so shocked by the reveal and I could not stop watching this movie once we got toward the end. I loved every second of it!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Flickering identity in the middle.

The film quickly gets off to a chilling start but then things split off into several different directions during the middle portion. I was slightly confused and started to wonder about what kind of movie I was actually watching. That being said, once I reached the peak of the movie, I was completely hooked, but I think that some of the initial discoveries could have been done in a more seamless way to keep the audience completely invested.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in!

This movie wasn’t perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed my watch. I think that Netflix has been presenting us with some really entertaining guilty-pleasure thriller and horror films lately and this one was really enjoyable.

The performances were great and that twist still has me in complete shock! Loved it!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Intrusion in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
