Spoiler-Free Review of “The Woman in Cabin 10” on Netflix: A Mystery Thriller that has its Moments…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“It WAS real…”

The Woman in Cabin 10 premiered on Netflix on October 10th 2025. The mystery thriller film (based on the novel of the same name) stars Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, Kaya Scodelario, and David Ajala. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-five minutes.

A journalist accepts an invitation on an extravagant yacht to cover a human interest piece, but when she witnesses one of the passengers go overboard, things take a dangerous turn. Only no one believes her and claims that there was no passenger staying in that room.

Here is the trailer:

The Woman in Cabin 10 has a mystery with potential and a terrific cast, led by the always fantastic Keira Knightley, but does it do enough to be worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Keira Knightley puts forth a valiant effort!

I was so excited to see that she was cast in a thriller like this. She is such a fantastic actress and I think she did a great job with what she was given. They probably could have given her more to do here, but she elevated some predictable content at times, making this a more compelling watch with her mere presence.

The rest of the cast did a solid job too although I think certain characters could have used some more screen time to really keep us guessing about the culprit here.

A mystery with potential.

I was completely drawn in by the premise and I thought the opening was really strong. I haven’t read the book just yet, but this story-line definitely had enough of a hook…even though it’s a plot I’ve seen numerous times before.

That being said, I was invested here and wanted to see the outcome. The film wasn’t really long, which helped. They could have easily dragged things out so I appreciated that they kept the mystery where it was rather than branching out into different subplots.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Predictable, flat reveal.

I was hoping we would go in a different direction, but the reveal was just kind of OK for me. I sort of saw it coming a mile away, but I was hoping we would get an unexpected twist.

I also wanted some more moments of true suspense. We definitely got there, but after that killer opening, I was expecting a lot more and it just kind of fizzled out for the majority of the film.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in about 75 percent…

The Woman in Cabin 10 is a lukewarm thriller with some predictable reveals, but Keira Knightley holds her own, making this an enjoyable popcorn watch overall.

I would just manage your expectations accordingly. There’s nothing new here, but if you enjoy mystery thrillers, this one fits the bill.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Caddo Lake” on Max: Over-Complicated Thriller

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“What happened will always be a part of you…”

Caddo Lake released on October 10th 2024 on Max. The mystery thriller film stars Dylan O’Brien, Eliza Scanlen, Diana Hopper, and Lauren Ambrose. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-two minutes.

When an eight-year-old girl goes missing near a lake, a series of past disappearances begin to connect to the mystery as two protagonists search for answers.

Here is the trailer:

Caddo Lake features some eerie moments and a solid mystery at its core, but is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Max

Solid performances.

I thought that both Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen did a good job here. They were convincing and they put forth some compelling emotions. I wish we had gotten a chance to peel back some more layers for their characters, but the intention was there and it kept me invested in the outcome of this film.

Eerie mystery.

I really was intrigued by this mystery and wanted to know more as soon as the hook was introduced. The lake was the perfect backdrop for this film, channeling some chilling and trippy vibes. The first half of this film really drew me in, but unfortunately it lost steam as things continued…

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Max

Gets lost in its reveal…

I didn’t see the twist coming, but I really wasn’t feeling it. Honestly, it just confused me. Everything felt so messy and over-complicated. The transitions between the two main characters were sloppy and I lost all interest by the time I got to the end. This really frustrated me because we had a simple enough mystery to lure us in and I was perfectly fine with accepting it as that. Sometimes less is more when it comes to these types of thrillers…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Max

I’m 50/50 on this one…

Caddo Lake sets the stage for an eerie thriller and has some redeeming elements, but it ultimately goes off course with its messy and perplexing reveal.

I liked the actors in this one, but this was a confusing watch for me overall.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Caddo Lake in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Fool Me Once” on Netflix: Harlan Coben Starts the Year Off with a Bang!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Death follows you…”

Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once premiered on Netflix on January 1st 2024. The mystery thriller limited series features eight episodes available to stream now. It stars Michelle Keegan, Joanna Lumley, Adeel Akhtar, Emmett J. Scanlan, and Richard Armitage. Each episode runs for approximately 42-50 minutes.

As Mya tries to cope with the recent murder of her husband, she gets a shocking surprise when she spots him on her nanny cam after his death, leading to dangerous secrets and reveals.

Here is the trailer:

Fool Me Once is addicting in all the right ways, presenting us with shocking twists and plenty of action-packed moments, making this an easy guilty pleasure thriller to indulge in. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

So addicting!

I always get excited when a new Harlan Coben series is released. Fool Me Once held its own and really grabbed my attention right away. It didn’t waste too much time with set-up, hooking the audience and never letting go.

I was really impressed by how well-paced this series was. It was very easy to binge-watch and the end of each episode did just enough to bring you back for more. I watched all eight episodes in one day.

I also appreciated that this series was less complicated than some of its predecessors. Sure, there were still a lot of sub-plots to sift through, but I found this one to be a little bit more straightforward, which made this a seamless and enjoyable watch.

Images courtesy of Netflix

A strong female lead to root for!

I really liked the character of Mya. I thought the actress did a great job and her fashion was on point with all of those fabulous coats! Sometimes I get too wrapped up in the mystery behind these series to care that much about the characters, but this series took enough time to flesh hers out without presenting us with too much excessive fluff.

Mya was bad-ass and relatable in a lot of ways. I hope to see this actress in more soon because I thought she was absolutely fantastic!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Repetitive flashbacks.

The crazy sub-plots didn’t bother me that much this time around…especially since I have learned to expect them with every Harlan Coben series I watch. That being said, I thought some of the mini flashbacks thrown in were a little exhausting.

I didn’t find the plot to be that complicated and it felt like the writers were over-explaining things to the audience. This didn’t overpower the series, but it was frustrating at times.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in 100 percent!!!

Satisfying, addicting, and perfect for binge-watchers!

Harlan Coben does it again with a well-executed mystery worth your time.

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Watchful Eye” on Freeform: Guilty Pleasure Gold

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I know what it’s like…”

The Watchful Eye premiered on Freeform on January 30th 2023 with the first two episodes. There will be eight episodes in total that will air weekly and each episode is available to stream on Hulu the next day. The mystery thriller series stars Mariel Molino, Amy Acker, Warren Christie, and Kelly Bishop. Each episode is approximately 45-48 minutes.

A young woman with a secretive past accepts a job as a live-in nanny for a wealthy family in Manhattan, where everyone has something to hide.

Here is the trailer:

The Watchful Eye is a delightful mix of Jane Eyre and Gossip Girl with fantastic twists that will have you hooked from the start. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Freeform

Amazing twists!

This series did not waste any time at all! It hooked me immediately and already presented us with some insane twists that may seem completely bonkers, but they’re working. Just when I thought I had things figured out, I was thrown for a loop in the best way possible and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

It’s safe to say that this series is already so addicting, falling nicely into the guilty pleasure thriller genre. Love it!

Images courtesy of Freeform

Killer concept.

The series is not that original. It’s basically Only Murders in the Building without the quirky humor, but I love the upper east side edge (similar to Gossip Girl) and Amy Acker is already stealing the show as the Queen Bee of the apartment. I’m so happy to see her in this!

I think our lead is also very likable and she definitely has a few tricks up her sleeve as well so I will not be underestimating her.

I love the setting and the focus on the residents as potential suspects. I’m looking forward to figuring this one out each week.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Freeform

Over-stuffs the premiere with too many characters…

I liked a lot of the characters, but I had a little trouble keeping up. I just think that way too many people were introduced in the premiere and it was already jam-packed enough as it is.

There is also some typical soapy melodrama to deal with, but I’ve come to expect that now with these types of shows.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Freeform

I’m in!!!

The Watchful Eye is my new addiction!

It has everything I could possibly want in a guilty pleasure thriller and more! I’m intrigued!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Missing” in Theaters: Matches the Intensity of “Searching” with Solid Twists

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I just need to know that you’re safe…”

Missing released in theaters on January 20th 2023. The mystery-thriller film (from the creator of Searching) stars Storm Reid, Nia Long, Ken Leung, and Daniel Henney. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty minutes.

June desperately tries to find her mother after she and her boyfriend mysteriously vanish in Colombia, unlocking secrets about her past along the way.

Here is the trailer:

Missing is so much more than a loose sequel of Searching, creating something truly suspenseful with exceptional twists and reveals that will have you on the edge of your seat. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Sony Pictures Entertainment

Exceptional intensity!

When I first watched Searching, I was completely captivated from start to finish. I loved the use of social media and technology to reveal a unique mystery, allowing the audience to take their mystery-solving skills to the next level.

I was slightly worried that Missing would lose that originality, following a familiar formula I had seen before, but I was blown away by how engrossing this movie was. I may have even liked it better than Searching, although they both were so good so it’s honestly hard to choose between them.

Missing uses the same approach and even presents us with some welcomed Easter eggs and cameos, paying tribute to the original film, but it also branches off into something different and possibly even more chilling this time around.

Images courtesy of Sony Pictures Entertainment

The twists were FANTASTIC!

When the first major reveal happened, I was all in. I thought it matched the reveal in Searching and then some. But then the movie decided to go even further with it and throw another insane twist our way that almost had me applauding in my seat. I didn’t see these reveals coming and yet they were still really plausible and realistic in this situation, which made them that much more intriguing.

I loved them!!!!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Sony Pictures Entertainment

I don’t have any…

When I think about what I want to get out of a mystery-thriller movie, Missing checks off all the boxes and then some. The computer angles take a little time to get used to, but if you have seen Searching then you shouldn’t really mind this and I never thought it took away from what was going on.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Sony Pictures Entertainment

I’m in 100 percent!!!

Missing is absolutely fantastic and even better than I could have hoped for!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Perfect Mother” on Netflix: Quick French Thriller with a Solid Twist

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I’m in trouble…”

The Perfect Mother (Une Mère Parfaite) premiered on June 3rd 2022 on Netflix with four episodes available to stream now. The mystery-thriller series stars Julie Gayet, Eden Ducourant and Tomer Sisley. Each episode runs for approximately 45-50 minutes.

A mother risks everything to find out the truth when she learns that her daughter is a suspect in a murder investigation.

Here is the trailer:

The Perfect Mother is an addicting mystery thriller with a shocking ending. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

The Perfect Mother Spoiler Free 1

Images courtesy of Netflix

Easy to binge-watch.

With only four episodes, I was able to finish this series in a little over three hours. I think this was a really smart decision. This show could have easily gone off track if it had eight episodes like most Netflix series and it was refreshing watching something so quickly. I didn’t feel like I had to work to get to the end. It all just unraveled naturally and it was very entertaining to watch.

A twist I did not see coming!

Wow, what a twist! This was probably the best part of the series for me. I thought things were wrapping up and then we were thrown a curve ball that really made this series so much more enjoyable.

The mystery was a good one, but the twist was truly fantastic. If you enjoy series like Pieces of Her and the Harlan Coben series, you will feel right at home with this one.

The Cons:

The Perfect Mother Spoiler Free 2

Images courtesy of Netflix

Unnecessary sub-plots and slow at times…

Since we only had four episodes, we didn’t really need the sub-plots mixed in. They slowed down the overall pace and they took away from the main mystery, which was decent enough. The episodes could have been a little shorter to keep things on track and I would have been fine with that.

So am I in or out?

This series had a solid mystery with a fantastic twist worth sticking around for. If you’re looking for a quick series to binge-watch, you’re in the right place!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Hold Tight” on Netflix: Harlan Coben’s new mystery has its ups and downs

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Sometimes it feels like you’re running off a cliff…”

Harlan Coben’s Hold Tight (Zachowaj spokój) premiered on Netflix on April 22nd 2022. The Polish mystery thriller series features six episodes available to stream now. It stars Magdalena Boczarska, Leszek Lichota, Krzysztof Oleksyn and Agata Łabno. Each episode runs for approximately 42-50 minutes.

When a teen goes missing after his friend dies, a community begins to fall apart with deadly secrets and lies.

Here is the trailer:

Hold Tight brings back familiar characters from Harlan Coben’s The Woods, but does this story pack enough of a punch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Talent across the board…

From the adults to the teens, every actor put forth a valiant effort with their character portrayal. I was just as interested in the story-line involving the teens as I was with the adults. This isn’t always easy to pull off but I think this series did a decent job with this aspect.

A mystery with layers.

If you’re a fan of Harlan Coben series, then you know to expect a mystery with tons of layers and sub-plots. That’s the formula and it works well for the most part, pulling in the audience as we try to pick up the clues that will lead us to the end reveal. There were a lot of moving pieces in this one, but I thought the reveals at the end were worth sticking around for.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Lacks a little bit of edge…

Don’t get me wrong, the series is definitely watchable, but this one felt slower than other Harlan Coben series. I wasn’t hooked the same way I was with The Stranger, Stay Close, and The Innocent. I just wanted a little bit more to completely lure me in.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in about 75 percent…

Hold Tight is a solid mystery that will keep you guessing. The reveals are worth it, but be prepared for a slower pace overall.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Pieces of Her” on Netflix: A Thriller with Heart

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“If someone threatens your child, you do anything to protect them…”

Pieces of Her premiered on March 4th 2022 on Netflix with eight episodes available to stream now. The mystery-thriller series stars Toni Collette, Bella Heathcote, Omari Hardwick and Jacob Scipio. Each episode runs for approximately 45-55 minutes.

After an attack in a small town, a mother desperately tries to protect her daughter against dangerous threats as secrets surrounding her own dark past are revealed.

Here is the trailer:

Pieces of Her hooks its audience with a compelling mystery and plenty of twists and reveals to keep you coming back for more, but is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Toni Collette is as brilliant as ever!

Wow, she was so good in this! She really manages to fully embrace whatever role she is given and I am always drawn in that much more because of her performances. I thought she was fantastic in this series and she actually elevated it a lot when the plot went down the rabbit hole a few times.

An intriguing mystery.

I thought the mystery at the core of the series was a good one and I actually really liked that this show revealed a lot about this mother-daughter relationship, giving it a more emotional tone which worked in the show’s favor. Although some of the reveals were predictable, there were a lot that I didn’t see coming and I thought that this show was very easy to binge-watch.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Wishy-washy female lead.

I didn’t mind the character of Andy but she started to make some really dumb decisions as the show continued. This was frustrating at times because I want to really care about the characters to remain invested and I had a hard time connecting to her. I don’t think the performance was bad and there were some redeeming moments here and there, but I wanted a lot more from her as a character.

I also thought that the first half of the series was a lot stronger than the second half. Things started to lose steam after a while and we went off on several tangents before we got to the conclusion. That being said, I still think there was enough happening to keep me entertained.

So am I in or out?

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Weekend Away” on Netflix: Leighton Meester stars in Netflix’s latest Guilty Pleasure Thriller

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“It’s your holiday too…”

The Weekend Away released on March 3rd 2022 on Netflix. The mystery thriller film based on the novel of the same name stars Leighton Meester, Christina Wolfe, Ziad Bakri, and Luke Norris.

During a girls’ weekend in Croatia, Beth wakes up with no memory of the night before and soon discovers that her best friend is missing. As she starts to put the pieces back together again, she discovers a shattering secret, revealing several different possible suspects…including herself.

Here is the trailer:

The Weekend Away checks off plenty of boxes for your next guilty-pleasure watch, but does it do anything to stand out in the genre? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

The Weekend Away Spoiler Free 1

Leighton Meester delivers a believable performance.

It was really great to see Leighton Meester on screen again and I thought that she did a decent job with her portrayal of Beth. I also really liked the other characters as well and I thought that everyone elevated this film as much as they could with their performances.

Enough twists and suspects to keep you interested.

If you enjoy guilty-pleasure thrillers, the twists in this one will keep you interested. This was a really quick watch for me and I thought that the pacing worked as well. I also thought the scenery was breathtaking, fitting into the vacation thriller sub-category that I adore so much.

The Cons:

The Weekend Away Spoiler Free 2

Images courtesy of Netflix

Predictable

The last twist got me a little bit but I thought that the majority of the reveals were really predictable. In a way, this film reminded me of Alyssa Milano’s Brazen. We got a fantastic star and a really cool premise, but the execution seemed lazy at times. The dialogue was also really painful and generic during certain moments.

So am I in or out?

The Weekend Away Spoiler Free 3

I’m in!

The Weekend Away is far from perfect, but it fits the bill for a guilty-pleasure watch with just enough twists to make things interesting. This is the perfect film to watch on the weekend with a glass of wine (if that’s your thing).

Spoiler-Free Review of “Stay Close” on Netflix: Harlan Coben does it again!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Do they know who you were in your previous life?”

Harlan Coben’s Stay Close premiered on Netflix on December 31st 2021. The mystery thriller series features eight episodes available to stream now. It stars Cush Jumbo, Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt, Sarah Parish and Bethany Antonia. Each episode runs for approximately 42-48 minutes.

As Megan prepares for her upcoming wedding, her dangerous past comes back to haunt her, connecting her to a mysterious murder while threatening her new life and family.

Here is the trailer:

Stay Close follows Harlan Coben’s compelling and addicting formula perfectly, but does this series do enough to keep up with The Stranger and The Innocent? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

An engrossing mystery…

I’ve come to expect this from the Harlan Coben mysteries, but this series is no exception. I was immediately pulled in right from the start and each episode did plenty to bring me back for more. This show was so much fun to binge-watch. It kept me guessing the entire time and did a great job of revealing just enough to keep the audience fully invested.

Images courtesy of Netflix

A final twist I didn’t see coming!

I’ve gotten pretty good at piecing together Harlan Coben mysteries, but there is always one final twist that throws me for a loop and this may be the best twist I have seen so far! I am still in shock over it!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

A lot to keep track of…

If you’re used to Harlan Coben mysteries, then you already know that there will be plenty of sub-plots to make your head spin, but everything eventually connects in the end. I wouldn’t really say this is a con, but you need to pay attention to everything and even if some characters seem slightly ridiculous, they’ll start to grow on you…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in 100 percent!!!

Stay Close is a fantastic mystery that will keep you guessing. I loved every second of it! I think it absolutely kept up with The Stranger and The Innocent, but it did something new and different as well! The mystery will keep you coming back for more, but this series has so much going for it and it is beyond worthy of your next watch!

Start the year off with an addicting thriller that will make you binge-watch to your heart’s content!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Stay Close in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
