“I think we know exactly what it is…”

Here is the trailer:

Death of a Unicorn successfully blends horror and comedy in this outrageous flick filled with magically entertaining moments. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Good balance of laughs, heartfelt moments, and gore.

I get so excited when a horror comedy can accomplish this. It’s no easy task, but as long as you go into this movie expecting it to be outrageous and bonkers, you’ll have the best time.

The Leopold family reminded me quite a bit of the family in Ready or Not and we had that same kind of humor throughout the film. I think it worked very well and Will Poulter was a scene stealer.

I loved the violence and gore in the second half of the film. It really complimented the darker humor well and the sweeter moments actually warmed my heart, making the bond between Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega’s characters an effective one. Plus, I love unicorns so there’s that!

Loved the inclusion of actual unicorn lore!

The Unicorn Tapestries display at the Cloisters museum is one of my favorites and I absolutely loved that this film included and drew from it. This film recognized that it had a silly concept, but it also did its homework, providing us with lots of interesting myths and stories to enhance the overall plot.

The Cons:

A touch too long…

I think this film could have been a little bit shorter. The second half was a lot stronger for me than the first. The pacing was solid enough so I don’t think this was a major con, but I personally like my horror comedies at about 90 minutes to eliminate any unnecessary fluff.

So am I in or out?

DON’T TAKE THE JOB…

It was only supposed to be temporary…but when Olivia Crewe accepts a new position that seems too good to be true, she soon discovers that twelve other girls previously had the same job as her. Only none of them lasted for more than thirty days. No notice. Nothing…right before they mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

My supernatural thriller Girl Number Thirteen is out now! I hope you enjoy!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 on Hulu: They’re Back!

*This is a spoiler-free review for season three so feel free to read on!**

“Who are we without a homicide?”

Only Murders in the Building season three premiered on Hulu on August 8th 2023. The comedy crime series will have ten episodes in total. The first two episodes are available to stream now and the remaining eight will air weekly. The show stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. Each episode runs for approximately 30-35 minutes.

Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are back to solve a new murder mystery involving some talented new players behind the scenes of a Broadway show.

Here is the trailer:

Only Murders in the Building is the most addicting television series on right now, featuring the perfect blend of mystery goodness and fun humor. Will the new mystery in season three measure up to the first two seasons? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

More focus on character development.

While I love the magic between this trio, I appreciate that the new season is looking at who they are as individuals. There are some important changes and decisions for them to make and I think this will only help them grow more together. It also prevents the show from feeling too repetitive.

The new guest stars are a lot of fun!

Paul Rudd is already a scene stealer and Meryl Streep is as fabulous as ever! We’ve also got Ashley Park (Joy Ride) in the mix and some other new potential suspects who should liven things up. More please!

Simplifies things…

Season two was still enjoyable, but it felt a little bit chaotic and tried to do too much. It seems like season three is already going back to a more simple who-dun-it formula, which is working so far. I already have a few suspects and I can’t wait to see how this new mystery unfolds!

The Cons:

The tone feels slightly off…

This isn’t a major con and I understand that it’s hard to top the first season, but the shift in setting for a lot of the set-up takes some getting used to. I’m willing to give it a shot, but I’m hoping we get to spend more time in the Arconia because that’s where we fell in love with this trio.

I’m in 100 percent!

One of my favorite series is back with lots of potential already!

This new quirky mystery has a lot going for it and I’m confident that Mabel, Charles, and Oliver will deliver!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” in Theaters: All Around Fun

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Who you gonna call?”

Ghostbusters: Afterlife released in theaters on November 19th 2021. The film stars McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Logan Kim, Celeste O’Connor, Carrie Coon and Paul Rudd. It runs for just over two hours.

After getting evicted from their home, a mom and her two kids move into their grandfather’s old farm house, as they soon unlock some secrets and connections to the original Ghostbusters.

Here is the trailer:

Ghostbusters: Afterlife attempts to continue the Ghostbusters story with some new characters while still sprinkling in some nostalgia for fans of the original film. Does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

The new characters do a great job.

I was slightly worried about this, but I really loved all of the new characters. Phoebe was my favorite and really stole the show. The kids had a Scooby gang charm and Paul Rudd brought some humor into the mix as well.

Good balance of nostalgia and something new.

I thought this worked for the most part. Fans got plenty to be excited about and we also got a lot of entertaining and new elements added in. I didn’t think the cameos or the nods at the original were too forced. Everything just worked naturally and it was a lot of fun!

The Cons:

The middle dragged…

I thought the film started off strong and the ending really brought it home, but I started to lose interest in the middle of the film. The pacing needed some work and I think that the film was slightly too long. I didn’t need something major happening at all times, but I think this could have been tightened up a little bit to make the film more seamless overall.

I’m in!

Overall, this was an entertaining watch. I loved all of the cameos and I think that the film did enough to keep fans happy. I think the pacing could have been a lot better and the plot didn’t do anything that extraordinary, but this was honestly a blast to watch and I had a lot of fun!
