Spoiler-Free Review of “Til Death Do Us Part” (2023) on Demand: An Absolute Train Wreck…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I can’t go through with it…”

Til Death Do Us Part (2023) released in select theaters on August 4th 2023 and is now currently available to watch on demand as of September 19th 2023. The horror-thriller film stars Natalie Burn, Cam Gigandet, Jason Price, Orlando Jones, and Ser’Darius Blain. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-five minutes.

After running away from her wedding, a bride must fight for her life against seven deadly groomsmen.

Here is the trailer:

Til Death Do Us Part attempts to channel films like Ready or Not and The Invitation, but does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Fun premise with a decent female lead.

When I first saw the poster for this film, I was so excited to watch it. It screamed Ready or Not and it was billed as being from the creator of Final Destination, which I thought should be a very good thing. The actual idea behind this film was really solid and our female lead wasn’t half bad. She put forth some effort in her fight scenes (even though some of them were completely ridiculous and unbelievable) and gave me some incentive to watch until the end.

The pros stop here though…

The Cons:

Terrible dialogue and mediocre fight scenes…

The dialogue was so excruciatingly bad in this. I recognized a few actors in this one so I thought it had potential, but as soon as they opened their mouths, it was over. The fight scenes were OK and everyone spent way too much time walking around and talking about absolutely nothing for the majority of the movie.

The flashbacks felt mostly filler even though they sort of made sense by the time I got to the end. I really didn’t care at that point, but at least they gave me a break from listening to Cam Gigandet’s character recite his best man speech over and over again…

So am I in or out?

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…

Disappointing and excruciatingly painful to get through.

I’d recommend just watching Ready or Not again instead…

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Invitation” (2022) in Theaters: Nathalie Emmanuel Shines

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I know you have big things ahead of you…”

The Invitation (2022) released in theaters on August 26th 2022. The supernatural horror film stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Thomas Doherty, Hugh Skinner, Alana Boden, Stephanie Corneliussen, and Sean Pertwee. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-four minutes.

After taking a DNA test to find any remaining family, Evie meets up with her long-lost second cousin, who invites her to a mysterious wedding in England.

Here is the trailer:

The Invitation has an alluring premise with a strong lead, but is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Nathalie Emmanuel is Final Girl worthy!

I am already a big fan of hers, but she really commanded the screen in this film. She brought a lot to her character, Evie, and I was rooting for her the entire time. I thought her character was sympathetic and extremely likable. She was the best part of this movie and I hope she stars in more horror films in the future!

Stunning fashion and setting!

This film was absolutely gorgeous in so many ways. From the cast, to the setting, to the fashion. Seriously, I’d love to try on all of those dresses! They were to die for…literally. There was a Gothic quality to this film that I really liked and I thought it complimented the modern Brides of Dracula vibe in an effective way. The Easter Eggs were cute too.

The Cons:

Takes too long for things to happen…

There was A LOT of set-up in this film. I thought it was a little on the long side and I was just waiting for something to happen. That being said, there are plenty of dark and creepy moments to indulge in, but I was anxiously waiting for the reveal to unfold itself so that we could get to the action.

We eventually got there and I liked the twist to turn the tables, but I was also disappointed with a lot. I really wanted something more out of the page of Ready or Not’s book and this film never got to that level unfortunately. I wanted more blood and more fight scenes. By the time we got to the climax, I had a few crazy ideas for endings that would have really sold me on this, but the ultimate ending was a little lukewarm instead…

So am I in or out?

I’m in about 75 percent…

Overall, I enjoyed this one and I thought Nathalie Emmanuel was stunning and bad-ass! I just wanted some more edge and a truly satisfying ending.

Either way, there is plenty to enjoy, but you have to sit through a lot before you get to the good stuff…

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Invitation in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Intrusion” on Netflix: Not Your Average Home Invasion Movie…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“We can get through this…”

Intrusion premiered on Netflix on September 22nd 2021. The thriller film stars Freida Pinto, Logan Marshall-Green, Robert John Burke and Megan Elisabeth Kelly. It runs for approximately 90 minutes.

Meera and Henry Parsons are traumatized after a home invasion occurs in their newly built home, shattering their trust in those around them.

Here is the trailer:

Intrusion has a chilling and unsettling impact as it takes a home invasion premise and weaves it into something even more disturbing. But does this film do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Performances with edge.

I was absolutely thrilled to see Freida Pinto in this and I thought she did an excellent job. Logan Marshall-Green was so fantastic in both Upgrade and The Invitation and he is no stranger to this type of movie. I really loved the character dynamics and I thought they both presented us with believable performances worth getting excited about.

I cared about what happened to them which made this movie come to life that much more for me.

A shocking twist.

It’s not always easy presenting the audience with an unpredictable twist and I thought that this film delivered and then some. There will be no spoilers in this review, but I was so shocked by the reveal and I could not stop watching this movie once we got toward the end. I loved every second of it!

The Cons:

Flickering identity in the middle.

The film quickly gets off to a chilling start but then things split off into several different directions during the middle portion. I was slightly confused and started to wonder about what kind of movie I was actually watching. That being said, once I reached the peak of the movie, I was completely hooked, but I think that some of the initial discoveries could have been done in a more seamless way to keep the audience completely invested.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!

This movie wasn’t perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed my watch. I think that Netflix has been presenting us with some really entertaining guilty-pleasure thriller and horror films lately and this one was really enjoyable.

The performances were great and that twist still has me in complete shock! Loved it!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Intrusion in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
