The Pros:

All-star cast!

Nicole Kidman mystery dramas are my new favorite genre. She has been absolutely fabulous in Big Little Lies, The Undoing, and Nine Perfect Strangers. Well, she’s got another hit here and she leads a fabulous cast worth getting excited about. I love a good murder mystery and this one was elevated by a talented cast.

The setting was absolutely gorgeous to look at and Nicole Kidman’s wardrobe was so elegant and classy. I had a feeling I would like this one right from the start and I was right.

A solid mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end.

This series did a great job of keeping us guessing. There were a lot of well-placed clues and even though I had my suspicions about the outcome, I still thought the reveal was well done. This series was extremely easy to binge-watch and it was an absolute treat. It had the perfect balance of mystery thrills and soapy drama.

The Cons:

The interrogation scenes in the beginning of the series were distracting.

This wasn’t a major con, but I much preferred the natural course of events and whenever we flashed to someone’s opinion about everything, it lost a little edge for me. The transitions with these scenes eventually worked better in the later episodes, but I struggled with this initially.

So am I in or out?

I’m in 100 percent!

The Perfect Couple is your next obsession!

Nicole Kidman is to die for in this smart and stylish mystery series that really held my attention until the very last frame. I absolutely loved it!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Tell Me Lies” Season Two on Hulu: Still Just as Addicting!

**This is a spoiler-free review for season two so feel free to read on!**

“I will never forgive you for any of it…”

Tell Me Lies season two released on Hulu on September 4th 2024 with the first two episodes available to stream now. The remaining six episodes will air weekly. Based on the novel of the same name and produced by Emma Roberts, the romance-drama series stars Grace Van Patten, Jackson James White, Catherine Missal, and Spencer House. Each episode runs for approximately 48-52 minutes.

Summer is over and Lucy returns to college, hoping to leave her toxic relationship with Stephen in the past, but things become complicated when she runs into him at a party, bringing back old wounds and secrets.

Here is the trailer:

Tell Me Lies season two is already off to a fantastic start with plenty of juicy drama to indulge in and some new faces to spice things up. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Hooked once again!

Season one did a really great job of hooking me with each episode and I have to say that season two is off to an even better start. Once again, we have the mystery in the future connecting to the events in the past, but some of the newer elements introduced already have my mind buzzing with possibility.

It’s rare to find worthy college dramas. I loved Felicity when it aired, but most of the other teen dramas were initially set in high school. It’s nice to watch a show with a more mature feel to it. Sure, there’s plenty of soapy drama, but it doesn’t feel as whiny or overdone in the college environment, which makes this a refreshing watch.

Lucy is even more interesting this time around.

I really love her character because she is flawed in so many ways. It makes her more realistic and she has such an edgy vibe going for her, which is fun to watch. She makes mistakes repeatedly, but she’s still trying her best to deal with her inner turmoil. I love that she is already taking a stand in season two, refusing to play the victim. I really want her to get even more unhinged with her outbursts and I’m confident we’ll get there.

In season one, I wasn’t really a fan of a lot of the other supporting characters, but I’m liking them a lot more in season two. They’re getting more layers and having Lucifer’s Tom Ellis in the mix now is a very good thing.  He’s already a scene stealer!

The Cons:

Needed a refresher!

I really should have binge-watched season one before starting season two. It’s been some time and I’m a little fuzzy on certain details. I would definitely recommend watching the recap in the beginning to get up to speed, but a full re-watch may be necessary. There’s a lot to remember!

I’m in!!!

Tell Me Lies season two is guilty pleasure worthy and then some!

We’re off to a fantastic start so far and I can’t wait to watch the rest of the episodes to find out what happens next!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Skincare” on Demand: Elizabeth Banks Dazzles

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Reputation is everything in this business…”

Skincare premiered in limited theaters on August 16th 2024 and is now available to stream on demand as of September 3rd 2024. The crime drama-thriller stars Elizabeth Banks, Lewis Pullman, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Nathan Fillion. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-five minutes.

Here is the trailer:

Skincare is an intriguing story elevated by a captivating performance by Elizabeth Banks. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Elizabeth Banks is fantastic!

She is the best part of the film and I think that she really elevated it in a lot of ways. I’ve always been a fan of hers, but she really held my attention and gave this role her all. The rest of the cast featured some familiar faces as well, but Banks outshined them all with her energetic and convincing performance.

Interesting premise.

Mixing skin care, glamor, and Lifetime thrills is my kind of movie. The plot hooked me from the start and even though there was some uneven pacing to sit through, the last thirty minutes was really well done and worth the wait.

The Cons:

Takes a while to get going…

Don’t get me wrong…things were interesting, but since this was billed as a thriller, I was waiting around for a while for the actual thrills to take place. We eventually got there and they were satisfying enough, but I guess I was looking for more of an unhinged edge to really sell me on this. I still enjoyed my watch, but we could have benefited from some outrageous moments to really make this one pop.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Skincare is a Lifetime-esque thriller with style, featuring an electric performance by Elizabeth Banks.

I’d recommend managing your expectations on the actual thrills here, but I enjoyed my watch overall.
