“Somebody took our child…”

The Mummy (2026) released in theaters on April 17th 2026, directed by Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise). The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Verónica Falcón, Hayat Kamille, and Natalie Grace. It runs for approximately two hours and fifteen minutes.

While working in Egypt, a journalist’s daughter goes missing without a trace. Eight years later, she is returned to her family, but it’s clear that she has brought back something sinister along with her.

Here is the trailer:

The Mummy brings this nostalgic franchise back to life again with shocking gore and truly disturbing moments. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

Truly terrifying!

I didn’t expect this to be so scary and in some ways it wasn’t frightening at all and in other ways, it was your worst nightmare. This film successfully took an already horrifying premise and tweaked it with wild moments that made your skin crawl.

I could tell that this was a Lee Cronin movie because it definitely channeled some Evil Dead Rise vibes with its style and extreme gore. This worked in the film’s favor, making this entry truly pop and shock me with certain scenes.

My stomach is still turning from a few key moments. Yuck!

Effective story-telling.

I thought this was a very interesting rendition of The Mummy films. While I think it was strong enough to stand by itself with its own tale to tell, it really did something different and unique here.

I was very interested in the history behind it all and thought that May Calamawy was great in this film. I was rooting for her character and wanted even more screen time for her, although I get that we needed to focus our attention on the family.

The Cons:

A little too long.

The pacing was mostly on point, but I do think that things felt dragged out a little bit in the middle. I would have preferred this film to be under two hours.

I also thought this family made incredibly dumb decisions and took too long to realize that perhaps sticking around with Katie may not be the best idea…

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

The Mummy (2026) is a wickedly twisted film that will chill you to your core.

Overall, this film exceeded my expectations. It wasn’t perfect, but it was very entertaining for fans of the horror genre.

All-star cast!

Nicole Kidman mystery dramas are my new favorite genre. She has been absolutely fabulous in Big Little Lies, The Undoing, and Nine Perfect Strangers. Well, she’s got another hit here and she leads a fabulous cast worth getting excited about. I love a good murder mystery and this one was elevated by a talented cast.

The setting was absolutely gorgeous to look at and Nicole Kidman’s wardrobe was so elegant and classy. I had a feeling I would like this one right from the start and I was right.

A solid mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end.

This series did a great job of keeping us guessing. There were a lot of well-placed clues and even though I had my suspicions about the outcome, I still thought the reveal was well done. This series was extremely easy to binge-watch and it was an absolute treat. It had the perfect balance of mystery thrills and soapy drama.

The Cons:

The interrogation scenes in the beginning of the series were distracting.

This wasn’t a major con, but I much preferred the natural course of events and whenever we flashed to someone’s opinion about everything, it lost a little edge for me. The transitions with these scenes eventually worked better in the later episodes, but I struggled with this initially.

I’m in 100 percent!

The Perfect Couple is your next obsession!

Nicole Kidman is to die for in this smart and stylish mystery series that really held my attention until the very last frame. I absolutely loved it!
