Spoiler-Free Review of “Dexter: Resurrection” on Showtime: Dexter’s Back and Better than Ever!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“A heartbeat…I’ll take it…”

Dexter: Resurrection premiered on July 11th 2025 with the first two episodes available to stream on Paramount+ with Showtime. There will be ten episodes in total. The show stars Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, James Remar, David Zayas, Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Krysten Ritter, and Eric Stonestreet. Each episode runs for approximately 52-55 minutes.

Dexter: Resurrection is the sequel to Dexter: New Blood, following up with Dexter waking up from a coma after his son shot him. He now tracks him down in New York City and begins to find new meaning in the code he has followed for so long.

Here is the trailer:

Dexter: Resurrection is the series fans have been waiting for, bringing Michael C. Hall back into the spotlight once again as our favorite serial killer with a conscience. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Showtime

Cool guest stars and cameos!

The opening episode featured some terrific cameos. I was cheering in my seat! There were a few other faces I wanted to see, but I loved what I was experiencing so far and I really am enjoying the connections to the original series.

We have some stellar guest stars this time around and I can’t wait to see the rest of them.

Michael C. Hall eased back into the role of Dexter Morgan without skipping a beat. He has been excellent so far and I’m excited to see the progression of his character in this series.

The change in scenery is working!

Sure, I will always associate Dexter with Miami, but I have to say that I am enjoying him in New York City a lot more than I did with him upstate. The chaotic city is the perfect backdrop for him and I like that he seems a little unfamiliar with his surroundings, which will make following his code a little trickier this time around.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Showtime

Weekly episodes.

It’s always been this way, but I’m anxious to watch more episodes and I hate that we have to wait each week for a new one to drop. The suspense may literally kill me!

Other than that, I don’t have any cons so far. The pacing is solid and I can’t wait to see the rest of the guest stars. The plot has so much potential and I’m looking forward to seeing it unfold with the next episodes.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Showtime

I’m in 100 percent!

Dexter: Resurrection is everything I could have hoped for and more, reeling us in with a satisfying hook and exciting guest stars and cameos.

I can’t wait to watch more!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Dexter: Resurrection in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “M3GAN 2.0” in Theaters: A Subpar Sequel

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I’ve been keeping an eye on you…”

M3GAN 2.0 released in theaters on June 27th 2025. The sci-fi horror film stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jenna Davis, and Ivanna Sakhno. It runs for approximately two hours.

Two years after Gemma created M3gan, the government tracks her down after a military-grade weapon (based on her original design) named Amelia goes rogue. Gemma fears the safety of her and her niece, bringing M3gan back to give them a fair shot.

Here is the trailer:

M3GAN 2.0 attempts to bring back the campy fun vibe of the first film, but does it ever really find its way with the sequel? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Universal

Characters return for the sequel.

I like that we continued the story of Gemma and Cady in the sequel. I was originally thinking that they would throw a completely new story our way, but it helped me invest a little bit more in what was happening by seeing some familiar faces. It was fun seeing Cole again too (although I think he needed some more screen time).

Unfortunately my pros stop there…

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Universal

Sloppy, unconvincing plot.

I don’t even know where to begin. It honestly felt like this was some really bad fan fiction. The story was messy and all over the place. The humor didn’t land for me and everything just felt very unoriginal and silly. The dialogue was bad, the twist was whatever, and the fight scenes were just kind of meh.

I didn’t think we really needed a sequel, but I was hoping for it to deliver on some camp and it missed the mark completely here…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Universal

I’m out on this one…

M3GAN 2.0 failed to deliver, relying too much on gimmicks and cliches, which left me bored to tears.

I had managed my expectations on this one, but I was really hoping it would at least capture the vibe of the first movie.

Oh well…

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on M3GAN 2.0 in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Stranger in My Home” on Demand: Sophia Bush Stars in this Soapy Thriller

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I feel like every choice I’m making is wrong…”

The Stranger in My Home premiered on Demand on June 24th 2025. The drama thriller film stars Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill), Chris Carmack (The O.C.), Amiah Miller, and Chris Johnson. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-five minutes.

A family’s world is turned upside down when a stranger knocks on their door and claims that their daughters were switched at birth.

Here is the trailer:

The Stranger in My Home is very lifetime-esque with over-the-top twists and soapy drama, but Sophia Bush elevates it as much as she can. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Republic Pictures

Queen Sophia Bush!

I’ve been waiting for her to make a return to film and was so excited to see her in this. She really gave this film her all and honestly made it a better watch because of her talent and charisma. I am a big fan and hope to see her in more films in the future. She does excel in the horror/thriller genre. Welcome back, Sophia Bush!

Images courtesy of Republic Pictures

A few juicy twists.

I wouldn’t say that they were that great honestly, but there were some soapy ones thrown our way, which helped this watch a little bit. If you love lifetime movies, this one would be right up your alley.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Republic Pictures

Some terrible acting and dialogue…

Sophia Bush and Chris Carmack did the best with what they were given, but I really struggled watching the rest of the actors in this. The acting was so over-the-top and ridiculous and some of that dialogue was really out there.

I also thought these characters made some of the WORST decisions ever, but I guess we wouldn’t have a movie without them…

Takes too long to get to the hook!

My other issue was we had to wait 55 minutes before we actually got to the thrilling parts of this movie. There was a lot of unnecessary fluff to sit through. I was cheering for our girl once we finally got there, but it took way too long!

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Republic Pictures

I’m 50/50 on this one…

The Stranger in My Home is a by the numbers thriller with too much unbelievable nonsense, but it was great seeing Sophia Bush on the screen again!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Stranger in My Home in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “We Were Liars” on Prime Video: A Vapid and Uninspiring Watch…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“When you’re left for dead, you want answers…”

We Were Liars premiered on Prime Video on June 18th 2025 with all eight episodes available to stream now. The mystery drama series (based on the novel of the same name) stars Emily Alyn Lind, Joseph Zada, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, and Shubham Maheshwari. Each episode is approximately 50-52 minutes long.

After a mysterious accident alters Cadence’s life, she begins to suspect that her friends and family may be hiding secrets.

Here is the trailer:

We Were Liars has a recognizable cast and a decent premise, but does it do enough to be worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Prime Video

Aesthetically pleasing with some familiar faces.

If you’re searching for a beachy, lovely setting, you’ll get that here. The house looked like it was right out of a magazine with gorgeous colors and the cast was all very pretty as well (although I’m not sure what was with some of those wigs).

There were also a few familiar faces in this one. I was excited to see The Vampire Diaries star, Candice King in another show.

Unfortunately the pros stop here, despite this show having a decent enough story that should have hooked me right away…

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Prime Video

Annoying voice-over narration…

This is still one of my biggest pet peeves in shows! I hate drawn out voice-over narrations. Everything felt so whiny and fake. The soundtrack was also SO DISTRACTING.

Honestly, it felt like they were building a vibe here rather than paying attention to the plot, which was extremely frustrating as a viewer.

Unlikable characters and excruciatingly cheesy dialogue…

I really couldn’t connect with any of these characters. They were all over-privileged and annoying. This was a brutal watch for me. Everything just felt so dull and the dialogue was absolutely terrible. I didn’t read the book, but I can’t imagine it being that bad…

“Why did you run? To see if you’d chase me!”

Seriously…

I love guilty pleasure watches, but this one just fell completely flat for me.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Prime Video

I’m out on this one…

We Were Liars is a dull and drawn out watch that was painful to sit through.

There was a mystery to untangle, but not enough of a hook overall.

If you’re looking for a summer themed teen series, I’d recommend The Summer I Turned Pretty instead.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on We Were Liars in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Hell Motel” on Shudder: Campy, Slasher Fun!

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“I don’t feel good about this place…”

Hell Motel premiered on June 17th 2025 with the first two episodes available to stream now on Shudder or AMC+. The remaining episodes will air weekly. There will be eight episodes in total for the limited horror slasher series.

The series (from the creators of Slasher) stars Paula Brancati, Eric McCormack, Atticus Mitchell, Shaun Benson, and Genevieve DeGraves. Each episode runs for approximately 45-50 minutes.

A group of true crime obsessives are invited to the Cold River Motel thirty years after gruesome murders took place there, but they soon realize that they are also being targeted by a masked killer as they are hunted down one by one.

Here is the trailer:

Hell Motel has a fun premise with plenty of gory kills to be excited about, but does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Shudder

Fun premise!

I loved the Slasher anthology series and Hell Motel already feels like it could be another extended season of that. I’m eagerly trying to figure out what twists will be thrown our way and it’s fun seeing some familiar faces from Slasher.

So far the series isn’t taking itself too seriously, which is working in its favor. I hope it continues to lean more on the camp side of things because that’s what I’m loving so far.

Images courtesy of Shudder

Gory kills.

If you’re a horror fan and looking for some over-the-top gory kills, you’ll get your fill here. I was impressed with them so far and I can’t wait to see more!

Sure, they’re a little silly at times, but I came into this one expecting to see some bloody gore and so far it’s delivering in that department!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Shudder

Some pacing issues…

My only real con is that there seems to be a little bit too much fluff here between the kills. The episodes are on the longer side so I noticed this more than I normally would. I’m also having a difficult time connecting with some of the characters, but I’m hoping this will change as the episodes continue.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Shudder

I’m in!

Hell Motel is off to a bloody good start!

If you’re a fan of Slasher, I highly recommend checking this one out. As long as you manage your expectations and don’t take things too seriously, you’ll have a blast.

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Better Sister” on Prime Video: An Engrossing Mystery from Start to Finish

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“My husband’s covered in blood…”

The Better Sister premiered on Prime Video on May 29th 2025 with all eight episodes available to stream now. The mystery drama series (based on the novel of the same name) stars Jessica Biel, Elizabeth Banks, Kim Dickens, Corey Stoll, Maxwell Acee Donovan, and Gloria Reuben. Each episode is approximately 53-58 minutes.

After Chloe’s husband is murdered, she is reunited with her estranged sister while trying to piece together what really happened to him.

Here is the trailer:

The Better Sister hooks the audience from the opening scene with a solid mystery and an interesting dynamic between characters, but does it do enough to be worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Prime Video

Jessica Biel’s wardrobe is to die for!

I loved every one of her ensembles. They were so chic and that closet…wow! Everything was very pleasing to the eye in this one. There were a lot of beachy and serene colors used in the houses. I love when series give us so many gorgeous views while something dark and twisted is going on at the core.

I thought that Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks were very believable as sisters. Both of them gave us great performances and it was fun seeing Kim Dickens in this one too. There were plenty of recognizable faces here.

Images courtesy of Prime Video

A mystery that reels you in.

I love when a series can hook me right from the first episode and this show managed to do that and keep the momentum going right up until the reveals at the end. I was trying to work a number of theories and this show did a great job of leading the audience in several different directions, which was refreshing.

I never felt bored watching this one.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Prime Video

The time jumps were a bit chaotic.

I eventually got used to them, but they were distracting at times and a bit messy, dragging things out more than they needed to be. I preferred the current timeline so whenever we jumped to the past, I would have to switch gears a little bit, but I think the transitions improved with the later episodes.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

The Better Sister is your next binge-watch featuring a layered mystery and two worthy performances by Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Dangerous Animals” in Theaters: A Bloody Good Time!

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Welcome aboard…”

Dangerous Animals will release in theaters in the US on June 6th 2025 and on June 12th in Australia. The survival horror film stars Hassie Harrison, Jai Courtney, Josh Heuston, and Ella Newton. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-three minutes.

A shark obsessed serial killer holds a woman named Zephyr against her will. She must figure out a way to escape before he feeds her to his beloved sharks.

Here is the trailer:

Dangerous Animals gives us the perfect heart-pounding combination: a psycho serial killer and sharks. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Shudder

Jai Courtney is BRILLIANT in this!

I was excited when I saw he was cast as the villain in this from the trailer and he did not disappoint! Wow! Think Wolf Creek’s Mick Taylor. He honestly could have been his son.

He was twisted, diabolical, and out of his mind, but he was also really entertaining to watch and elevated this film in so many ways for me.

He will definitely be a villain I remember! I loved every second of his performance!

Images courtesy of Shudder

A strong, resourceful female lead to root for.

I love a strong female lead…especially in films like this. Zephyr was such a cool character and it was very easy to cheer for her against all odds. She didn’t accept her circumstances. She was a “fighter” and I thought she was absolutely terrific!

Intense from start to finish!

This movie had a killer opening and it really kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I have seen countless shark movies over the years and this one was one of the best I have seen in a very long time. The serial killer angle certainly helped things, but there was also some great shark action!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Shudder

I don’t have many…

This film was pretty close to perfect. While it may not be for everyone, it checked off every box for me. I love simple thrillers like this. My only con would be that maybe there was a touch too much fluff after the opening scene, but I really had to think of a con here.

I loved every second of this movie!

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Shudder

I’m in 100 percent!!!

Dangerous Animals is the shark movie I’ve been waiting for!

Think Wolf Creek, but with sharks. Jai Courtney as Tucker just became one of my favorite horror villains of all time!

I loved this movie so much and I can’t wait to watch it again and again!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Sirens” on Netflix: A Guilty Pleasure Beach Thriller

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“It REALLY seems like a cult…”

Sirens premiered on Netflix on May 22nd 2025 with all five episodes available to stream now. The limited dark comedy thriller series stars Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, Kevin Bacon, Glenn Howerton, and Felix Solis. Each episode is approximately 55-58 minutes.

Devon is concerned about her sister’s odd relationship with her boss, tracking her down at a lavish mansion on an island to get some answers.

Here is the trailer:

Sirens is a soapy and odd thriller with nods at Desperate Housewives, Revenge, and Big Little Lies, but does it do enough to be worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Meghann Fahy is one to watch!

I have been becoming a big fan of her lately. I’ve seen her pop up on a few shows before and I recently just watched her in DROP, which I absolutely loved.

This was an all-star cast and Meghann Fahy really stole the show with her convincing performance. Her character was fantastic and I loved her dry, dark humor. It really helped elevate this show for me in a lot of ways.

Julianne Moore was terrific as well.

Images courtesy of Netflix

Gorgeous setting.

If you’re looking for a soapy show with beach vibes for the summer, you’re in luck. This one definitely checked off all of those boxes for me. The mansion was beautiful. I loved the use of color and light here. Everything was just breathtakingly beautiful, offsetting some disturbing things going on within the property.

I love soapy guilty pleasure thrillers and this one reminded me of a few other shows that I have really enjoyed with some unexpected twists along the way.

I also loved that this was only five episodes. It made it a breeze to binge-watch over the weekend.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Weird and bonkers plot…

Don’t get me wrong…I was hooked all the same, but this show went off into several different directions. It was really strange at times, but somehow I was still there for it. Everything just felt very jam-packed and chaotic during certain key moments.

The ending threw me for a loop. It was certainly unexpected, but it also left me with some mixed feelings at the end.

So am I in or out?

Spoiler-Free Review of “Fear Street: Prom Queen” on Netflix: A New Shadyside Slasher with a Killer Soundtrack

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I guess they were right…”

Fear Street: Prom Queen is a horror slasher film that premiered on May 23rd 2025 on Netflix. The film stars India Fowler, Fina Strazza, Ella Rubin, Suzanna Son, and David Iacono. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty minutes.

Inspired by the R.L. Stine books, this new film takes place on prom night in 1988, where a masked killer begins to target the candidates for prom queen one by one.

Here is the trailer:

Fear Street: Prom Queen seamlessly escorts us back in time, but does this slasher measure up to the other Fear Street films? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Loved the 80’s vibe!

A lot of films were recently using the 80’s era a little too much, but I have to say that I really liked it in this particular film. The overall vibe, fashion, and music were on point! I was seriously jamming out the entire time while watching it. I need this soundtrack on repeat!

Images courtesy of Netflix

Gory kills.

I’ve seen too many slashers lately that haven’t really embraced the gory kills so I was pleased that this one didn’t hold back in this department. Sure, a lot of them were over the top, but they were bloody, outrageous, and really entertaining.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Underdeveloped characters.

Probably my biggest issue with this film was the lack of layers for the characters. Sure, it’s a slasher, but I also want to somewhat care about some of these characters so that I invest more in what happens to them. Everything just felt very by the numbers here and I really didn’t care for any of the characters, which was disappointing.

The original film street trilogy did a good job in this department so I’m not sure why there was so much of a disconnect here.

The reveal was also underwhelming for me…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in about 75 percent…

Fear Street: Prom Queen channels 80’s slashers with a fantastic soundtrack and some stand-out kills, but there was definitely something missing here.

This film didn’t measure up to the Film Street trilogy for me, but I’m always a fan of unserious slashers.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Fear Street: Prom Queen in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Duster” Premiere on Max: Josh Holloway is Back and as Charming as Ever!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“This is an unusual situation…”

Duster premiered on May 15th 2025 on Max with the premiere episode available to stream now. There will be eight episodes in total that will air weekly. The thriller crime series stars Josh Holloway, Rachel Hilson, Greg Grunberg, Camille Guaty, and Keith David. Each episode runs for approximately 50-52 minutes.

Set in the 1970’s, a getaway driver reluctantly agrees to work with a female FBI agent who is targeting the crime family he works for.

Here is the trailer:

Duster is a stylish and entertaining crime thriller with lots of potential. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Max

Fans of J.J. Abrams and Josh Holloway are in for a treat!

LOST fans, get excited! J.J. Abrams is the c0-creator and writer of this series and he pairs up with LOST alum, Josh Holloway, who brings the charisma and then some in this role!

Honestly, it felt like I was watching a LOST spin-off where “Jim Lafleur” goes back to the real world and becomes a getaway driver. Oh wait…and his character in this series is also named Jim!

I’ve missed seeing Josh in a starring role and already he is dominating the screen. I like the partnership with him and Rachel Hilson’s character and I’m excited to see more.

Images courtesy of Max

Cool vibe.

The 1970’s timeline is working so far for this particular series. I love the overall vibe and the music is great too. Everything just feels very smooth and stylish, mirroring Josh Holloway’s energy.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Max

Some pacing concerns.

There were a lot of moving pieces set up in the opening episode, which was fine, but I’m not really sure where this show is going just yet. It has enough things happening to keep me coming back for more, but I’m slightly concerned that this will be released each week. Sometimes I forget to tune in to the weekly shows so this could be its downfall.

That being said, I think the hook is solid enough so far.

So am I in or out?
