Spoiler-Free Review of “American Horror Story: Double Feature” Season 10 “Death Valley” on FX: Bizarre Disconnect

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Why is it here?”

American Horror Story season 10 part 2 has arrived! The second part of the double feature will feature 4 weekly episodes. “Death Valley” promises to bring us tons of horror involving…aliens!

Each episode runs for approximately 52-54 minutes. Season 10 part 2 stars Neal McDonough, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Rachel Hilson, Nico Greetham, Leslie Grossman, Kaia Gerber and Cody Fern.

Taking place in the 1950’s, “Death Valley” follows some kind of alien invasion that involves probing and a whole lot more…

Here is the trailer:

American Horror Story: Double Feature Part 2 already has a heavy sci-fi feel as it submerges us into history and re-writes it with possible alien abductions. But does “Death Valley” do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Chilling opening.

I’ve seen the trailer but I wasn’t really sure what I was going to get with part two and I thought the opening was really strong. It was eerie, creepy, and completely intriguing. The black and white 1950’s style worked and I immediately wanted to know more.

History re-write.

Although I’m not entirely sure about what’s going on just yet, I thought the introduction of figures from history was promising. AHS typically does a good job of showing us the world from a sometimes horrifying perspective and this twist is just enough to keep me coming back for more.

The Cons:

Jarring second half…

There will be no spoilers in this review, but the second half of the premiere was really odd and frustrating. I couldn’t connect at all and I didn’t care about what happened next. I’m sure that AHS will weave this story into the main plot-line in some kind of outrageous way, but I was finally starting to like what I was watching and then there was this abrupt disconnect that changed my tune…

So am I in or out?

I’m 50/50 on this one…

I really enjoyed the first half of the episode but the second half got really strange…and not in a great way. I’ll stick around since there are only four episodes in part two but I am lowering my expectations on this one…
