“Can we just pretend to be happy for one weekend?”

Over Your Dead Body released in theaters on April 24th 2026. The comedy action thriller film stars Samara Weaving, Jason Segel, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, and Keith Jardine. It runs for approximately an hour and forty five minutes.

A miserable couple retreat to the family lake house for the weekend, but they have a secret agenda to kill one another.

Over Your Dead Body is an entertaining comedy thriller that goes all out with gore galore and funny banter between the characters. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

A twisted thriller with plenty of outrageous moments.

It was fun seeing this one with a packed audience. I’m still not sure why it didn’t get more showings at the theaters by me because this was a fun, popcorn watch.

There were a lot of jaw-dropping moments and this film was not afraid to push the envelope with its blood and gore.

This matched up well with Samara Weaving’s track record in films. There was a good balance of dark comedy and thrills here.

Fun cast!

I’m pretty much seated for any film starring Samara Weaving and I thought she had great banter with Jason Segel. Timothy Olyphant stole the show for me though. It was great seeing him play a charismatic psychopath once again. Once he showed up things got a lot better.

Everyone did great with their roles, elevating this film in a lot of ways.

The Cons:

Goes off the rails a few times.

I enjoyed my watch but I did think this film went off course quite a few times. That added to its bonkers appeal, but I was scratching my head, wondering where they were going with a few things.

There was also one scene in particular that I thought went a little too far.
