Spoiler-Free Review of “A Working Man” in Theaters: Watered Down Version of Taken has its Moments

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“You didn’t see anything…”

A Working Man released in theaters on March 28th 2025. The action thriller film stars Jason Statham, Arianna Rivas, David Harbour, and Eve Mauro. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty-six minutes.

A former black ops soldier agrees to help his boss find his missing daughter after human traffickers kidnap her.

Here is the trailer:

A Working Man has some solid fight scenes and enough action in it, but does it do enough to be worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Jason Statham being Jason Statham…

If you came to see Jason Statham kick some ass, then you’ll be pleased. He plays his standard character in this one and is given enough of a layered backstory to make you root for him that much more.

I’ve seen every Jason Statham film to date (some of them horrible and some of them bad-ass). This one falls somewhere in the middle, but it was fun seeing him dominate the big screen once again.

Solid fight scenes.

I wouldn’t say that they were as brutal or bad-ass as the ones from The Beekeeper, but there were enough of them to keep me entertained. This film checks off enough boxes for a standard action thriller and it delivered in the fight sequence department.

The Cons:

Cringe-worthy dialogue and ridiculous villains…

I don’t know who came up with the dialogue for this one, but it was atrocious at times. The villains were bonkers and so silly. I couldn’t take them seriously. There were a few stand-out ones, but the majority of them were really over-the-top. I guess I wanted one worthy opponent to go up against Statham’s character and we never really got that challenge. It all just felt too easy and very by the numbers.

Also, I’m not sure when Michael Peña forgot how to act, but his crying scenes made me laugh out loud in the theater. They felt so empty and fake.

In a lot of ways, this film reminded me of Taken, but it didn’t reach that level of intensity. There were some glimmers of it, but a lot didn’t measure up.

This movie was also way too long…

So am I in or out?

I’m in about 75 percent…

A Working Man is your standard Jason Statham action flick with some worthy fight scenes to appreciate, but it doesn’t measure up to The Beekeeper.

I wouldn’t say that you need to rush to the theaters for this, but if you enjoy action movies, there’s enough here.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on A Working Man in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Beekeeper” in Theaters: Jason Statham’s Still Got It!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Nobody’s untouchable…”

The Beekeeper released in theaters on January 12th 2024. The action film stars Jason Statham, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, and Jeremy Irons. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-five minutes.

A former operative for a classified organization goes on a quest for vengeance to protect “the hive” and serve justice to all responsible for repeated horrible crimes against the innocent.

Here is the trailer:

The Beekeeper is filled with non-stop action and plenty of bad-ass and brutal moments from start to finish. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Satisfying fight scenes!

If you are watching this film to witness Jason Statham kick some ass, you’re in for a real treat. This film absolutely delivered in that department. The fight scenes were bad-ass, bloody, and absolutely outstanding! Jason Statham hasn’t aged a day! Seriously, I loved every second of them. More please!

Doesn’t try to do too much.

If you enjoy action films like The Equalizer and Nobody, this is right up your alley. The pacing was on point and I didn’t look at the time even once. We got enough backstory in a short amount of time to understand Statham’s motives and cheer him on, but the plot wasn’t weighed down by unnecessary side-plots and deep character reveals.

Rather, it just kept things moving and presented us with a worthy action film that measured up in all categories. This is my kind of movie and I’ll definitely be re-watching this one over and over again!

The Cons:

I want more!

I really don’t have any cons. Some of the catchphrases were a little cheesy, but who cares? I already want a sequel!

So am I in or out?

I’m in 100 percent!!!

The Beekeeper is bloody fantastic!

This film did not disappoint and exceeded my expectations!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Beekeeper in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Meg 2: The Trench” in Theaters: Nothing Can Stop Jason Statham on a Jet-Ski…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“That’s the biggest Meg I’ve ever seen…”

Meg 2: The Trench released in theaters on August 4th 2023. The sci-fi thriller sequel stars Jason Statham, Sophia Cai, Wu Jing, Skyler Samuels, Sienna Guillory, Cliff Curtis, and Page Kennedy.  It runs for approximately an hour and fifty-six minutes.

Jonas is back again to lead a research team on a dive in the deepest part of the ocean, but their lives are put in immediate danger when they wind up coming into contact with prehistoric sharks.

Here is the trailer:

Meg 2: The Trench takes a while to kick into gear, but once it embraces some campy chum-filled fun, it gives us enough entertaining moments. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

The last forty-five minutes are a lot of fun!

The first half of the movie didn’t do much for me, but thankfully it found its groove and went with it. Was it far-fetched and ridiculous? Absolutely! But it was also a lot of fun and it’s hard not to root for Jason Statham taking on these “apex predators” in insane ways.

Returning characters add to the charm!

While not all of the surviving characters made an appearance in the sequel, enough of them did and they got more screen time this time around, which was great to see. We also got a few new characters who really held their own.

My all-time favorite character (I’m sure you can figure out who that is) stole the film once again, but that should come as no surprise!

The Cons:

The first half of the movie took itself way too seriously…

While not everyone enjoyed The Meg, I did because it was so campy and silly. I expected the same vibe this time around with the sequel, but the first half of the film focused too much energy on figuring out who the bad guy was with too much drama. It wasn’t awful, but it just didn’t feel like the sequel to The Meg. I almost felt like I was watching another movie.

It was predictable and uninspiring, but things did pick up eventually. I also think that some of the previews spoiled a lot…

So am I in or out?

I’m in!

Not as good as the first film and far from perfect, but Meg 2: The Trench gives us enough toothy fun moments in the second half, making this an entertaining watch for fans of the first movie.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Meg 2: The Trench in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
