Spoiler-Free Review of “TRUST” on Demand: Sophie Turner stars in a Watered Down “Panic Room” Thriller

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“You’re not in control anymore…”
TRUST originally released in limited theaters on August 22nd 2025, but is now currently available to stream on Demand. The American thriller film (directed by Carlson Young) stars Sophie Turner, Billy Campbell, and Katey Sagal. It runs for 90 minutes.

A Hollywood actress tries to stay off the grid in a remote cabin with her dog after being involved in a scandal, but when intruders show up at her home, she must do everything she can to survive.
Here is the trailer:

TRUST immediately gives off a Panic Room vibe, but it fails to deliver the same level of intensity despite Sophie Turner’s efforts. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Sophie Turner gives it her all.

I really like her as an actress and she’s come a long way since Game of Thrones. I saw her in Survive back in 2020 and she was brilliant in that so I was very excited to see her in another thriller. The premise for this movie seemed right up my alley and I think she did a good job with what she was given.

She had her time to shine toward the end of the movie, but I think her talent was stifled for the majority of the film. I hope to see her in more thrillers in the future.

Katey Sagal and the dog are the best parts of the movie…

I’m not going to lie, this movie was really dragging for me despite having a great premise. The dog was fantastic and Katey Sagal provided some quirky humor, which helped this movie in a lot of ways. I probably would have tuned out without her and the dog so they deserve some props here!

The Cons:

The execution didn’t quite land…

I REALLY wanted to like this movie. I love thrillers with strong, resourceful female leads with a simple formula and this initially seemed to fit the bill. However, it was messy and attempted to do a little too much. While I appreciated the Panic Room nod, I think it took up too much of the movie. I wanted to see Sophie Turner just kick some ass and it took way too long to get her covered in blood…

There was a great thriller here somewhere, but it only scratched the surface, which was disappointing.

So am I in or out?

I’m 50/50 on this one…

TRUST has a convincing lead and a solid premise, but it never quite reached its full potential, ultimately leaving me wanting more.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Survive” on Demand: Sophie Turner Gives it Her All

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I’ve never been good at lying…”

Survive originally released on the short-lived streaming platform, Quibi in 2020 as individual chapters/episodes, but has now released officially in the US (on Demand) on June 20th 2023 as a full length film. The survival thriller stars Sophie Turner and Corey Hawkins. It runs for an hour and forty-eight minutes.

After their plane crashes in the snow-covered mountains, Jane and Paul have to work together to make it out alive.

Here is the trailer:

Survive is packed with intense and edge-of-your-seat moments with a strong performance from Sophie Turner, but does it do enough to earn a a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Sophie Turner gives an emotional performance worth experiencing.

The Game of Thrones star is no stranger to cold winters, but she showed off her range in this film and elevated it in a lot of ways. I thought both actors did a good job and I enjoyed the chemistry between them. I was rooting for Sophie’s character the entire time. She was exceptionally good in this and I hope to see her in more films soon!

Good balance of intense survival moments and emotionally-stirring ones.

In a lot of ways this film reminded me of the Melissa Barrera series, Keep Breathing. There were some nail-biting moments for sure that kept the pacing moving with a lot of emotional layers and revelations built in, which worked seamlessly. It helped me care a lot more about these characters and left us with some important life lessons as well.

The Cons:

The opening is a little heavy.

I get that we were trying to understand Jane’s character and where she was at in her life, but it felt very emotionally draining and it was tough to watch at times. Luckily the pacing picked up around the thirty minute mark so this wasn’t a major con.

I enjoyed my watch overall, but I’m not sure that this film did anything that unique in the survival/wilderness thriller genre. I’ve seen this type of movie many times before. That being said, it still had a lot of heart in it and some sincere moments.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Sophie Turner breathes life into your typical survival thriller.

I was genuinely moved by my watch and I thought that both actors did a great job with what they were given.

DON’T TAKE THE JOB…

It was only supposed to be temporary…but when Olivia Crewe accepts a new position that seems too good to be true, she soon discovers that twelve other girls previously had the same job as her. Only none of them lasted for more than thirty days. No notice. Nothing…right before they mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Staircase” on HBO Max: Colin Firth and Toni Collette star in the latest true crime dramatization

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“She fell down the stairs…”

The Staircase premiered on HBO Max on May 5th 2022 with the first three episodes available to stream now. There will be eight episodes in total that will air weekly. The crime drama series stars Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Sophie Turner, Parker Posey, Olivia DeJonge and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Each episode runs for approximately 60-65 minutes.

Based on the true story of Michael Peterson and the suspicious death of his wife, this true crime dramatization presents us with different angles of the story.

Here is the trailer:

The Staircase has an all-star cast, but is there enough new content here to keep its audience captivated? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Top-notch ensemble.

I expected Colin Firth and Toni Collette to be brilliant. They are pretty much brilliant in everything so that’s a given but I was really impressed by some of the other performances. The siblings really gave believable performances and I thought that everyone added something necessary and meaningful with their roles.

Solid mystery.

If you’re familiar with the crime and the original documentary series of the same name, then you know what to expect here. However, if you’re coming into this one with fresh eyes, you may get a lot more out of it because the mystery is a decent one.

The Cons:

Slow moving and stale at times…

The performances definitely helped matters, but I struggled through these episodes. The opening was pretty strong, but then things started to move at a much slower pace. The episodes are super long so it was difficult to hold my attention at times.

So am I in or out?

The Staircase Spoiler Free 3

I’m in about 75 percent…

The Staircase delivers with wonderful performances, but it has some serious pacing issues and I’m not sure it will be able to give us the satisfying ending we are looking for based on the outcome of the case. If you’re familiar with the original documentary series, you can probably skip it, although there are some decent moments sprinkled in.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Staircase in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
