Spoiler-Free Review of “SEND HELP” in Theaters: Rachel McAdams is Bloody FANTASTIC!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Don’t ever mistake my kindness for weakness…”

SEND HELP premieres in theaters on January 30th 2026. The survival horror-thriller film (directed by Sam Raimi) stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty-three minutes.

Linda survives a plane crash with her crude boss, but they are now stranded on a deserted island with no way to call for help. They attempt to work past their differences to survive while waiting for rescue, but the reality of their situation begins to take a toll on them.

Here is the trailer:

SEND HELP is a fresh, smart, and entertaining film featuring two incredible performances. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

An INCREDIBLE dynamic between characters.

OK…Regina George is back and she SLAYED in this! Wow, Rachel McAdams is one of my favorite actresses of all time and this is why! This is probably my favorite performance by her yet. She really immersed herself into this role. Dylan O’Brien did a solid job also. I thought the banter between them was HILARIOUS. I had no idea this movie would be so funny, but a lot of that had to do with how well they played these characters.

Getting stranded on a deserted island with a boss you despise sounds like a complete nightmare and Rachel McAdams really sold me on this. She is now officially a horror queen! I was blown away by her performance.

More please!

A Perfect horror comedy!

I never looked at the time even once during this film. The pacing worked really well and every moment was intriguing and intense. The comedy really landed for me and I loved how deranged and twisted this was as well. You could definitely tell that Sam Raimi was the director. In a lot of ways, this movie felt like a crazy mash-up of LOST, The Evil Dead, and Triangle of Sadness. That may seem like an odd combination, but it was bloody brilliant and I loved every second of it!

I think I will be returning to the theater to watch this one multiple times. It just felt like CINEMA to me in the best way possible.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of 20th Century Studios

I don’t have any…

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I knew that I would LOVE it and I was right. It exceeded my expectations and then some. I don’t have a single con. This was a perfect movie for me.

So am I in or out?

I’m in 100 percent!!!

SEND HELP is a deranged and twisted masterpiece, reminding me why I fell in love with movies in the first place.

Rachel McAdams is a horror queen and absolutely spectacular in this!

It’s safe to say that I absolutely LOVED every aspect of this movie. I can already tell that this will probably be one of my favorites of the year and January isn’t even over yet.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on SEND HELP in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Bayou” on Demand: A Gator Flick with some Bite

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Aggression is simply a means of survival…”

The Bayou released on Demand on February 21st 2025. The survival action-horror film stars Athena Strates, Madalena Aragão, Andonis Anthony, and Elisha Applebaum. It runs for approximately an hour and twenty-seven minutes.

A vacation goes horribly wrong when a small plane crashes in the middle of the Louisiana everglades. While the survivors look for rescue, they quickly discover that they are in the middle of alligator territory.

Here is the trailer:

The Bayou gives the killer gators a chance to shine in this mostly watchable B movie. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Plenty of gator screen time!

It’s no secret that I love shark flicks, but every now and again I like to watch a great gator film too. While I wouldn’t say this film is great, it did at least give us plenty of gator screen time. Sure, this was a lower budget film, but I love indulging in silly creature flicks like this and this one definitely fit the bill.

Quick watch.

I appreciated that this film was on the shorter side. This was a quick and fun watch. It didn’t spend too much time fleshing out story-lines (although it attempted to do so with our main character). Once the plane crashed, we got right down to business. There wasn’t too much excessive fluff and there were enough kills to keep me invested until the end.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Vertical Entertainment

Unlikable characters.

Other than our lead (who was decent enough), the rest of the characters were really irritating. I was honestly rooting for the gators the entire time.

This was fine for the most part since there was a high body count, but I wanted to invest in at least a few characters…

Nothing new here.

Don’t expect to see anything new or unique with this film. It was basically a carbon copy of other creature flicks. That being said, if this is your genre, then there’s enough here to enjoy.

So am I in or out?

I’m 50/50 on this one…

The Bayou is mindless fun with enough bite if you enjoy cheesy creature flicks.

If you love this genre, then you’ll enjoy your watch, but I’d manage your expectations on this one.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts on The Bayou in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Yellowjackets” Season 3 Premiere on Showtime: Off to an Intoxicating Start!

*This is a spoiler-free review for season 3 so feel free to read on!*

“Their story does not end here…”

Yellowjackets season 3 premiered on February 14th 2025 on Showtime with the first two episodes. The remaining eight episodes will air weekly. It stars Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Thatcher, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sammi Hanratty. Each episode runs for approximately 53-55 minutes.

After surviving a plane crash in the middle of the wilderness, a high school girls soccer team attempts to keep going with no hope of rescue. Years later, they try to cope with the horrific events that took place after the crash as new characters emerge from their past.

Here is the trailer:

Yellowjackets is a bonkers and trippy show that provides just the right amount of mystery and juicy drama. Does the season 3 premiere do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Showtime

The dark mystery continues…

My favorite part about this series is the unexplained mystery surrounding the girls in the woods. It’s twisted and dark and I’m anxious to finally find out more about it and what this force wants from them. Is there actually something out there or is it all in their heads?

I don’t know, but I thought the opening two episodes did enough to hook me again. I’m hopeful we will get some more answers this season.

Images courtesy of Showtime

Our favorite characters expose more layers.

Yellowjackets is one of the few series that features past and present timelines that are equally interesting, making us invest in the outcome of every character that much more.

I was happy to see our favorite characters getting more screen time in the first two episodes of season 3 (even if it slowed down the pacing a little bit) because certain dynamics and relationships needed to be fleshed out.

I’m really liking the bond between Shauna and Callie a lot more this season and Misty is digging deeper this time around after coping with the death of one of my favorite characters. It’ll be interesting to see how the dynamic between the survivors changes now.

The Cons:

Yellowjackets season 3 (1)

Images courtesy of Showtime

Confusing time jump.

It’s clear that some time has gone by in the past timeline. We’re now in spring so the girls made it through the winter, but I felt a little confused and fuzzy on what was going on. I think we needed more of a seamless transition here or a better way to fill in the missing details.

I also thought that the pacing felt slower for the first two episodes. I’m hoping this improves by the next episode.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Yellowjackets season 3 already has a lot of potential, luring us back into a dark and twisted mystery worth exploring.

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Spoiler-Free Review of “No Way Up” on Demand: B Shark Movie Has Some Moments with Bite

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Don’t think about what can go wrong…”

No Way Up released on demand on February 16th 2024. The survival thriller film stars Sophie McIntosh, Phyllis Logan, Colm Meaney, Will Attenborough, and Jeremias Amoore. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty minutes.

After their plane crashes into the ocean, a group of survivors work together to escape some killer sharks.

Here is the trailer:

No Way Up attempts to give sharks a new space to invade, but is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Altitude Film Entertainment

Doesn’t take too long for things to happen.

I appreciated that there was minimal set-up in this one. There were some intense moments during the initial plane crash that actually captured my attention. I’m all for shark flicks and will continue to watch them no matter what the gimmick is.

Well, for this one, we’ve got sharks on a plane and I thought the concept was actually a lot of fun. This movie is from the same executive producers as 47 Meters Down and the thought alone of being trapped in a plane underneath the ocean with sharks swimming around is completely terrifying.

I don’t think this film had the same intensity as 47 Meters Down by any means, but there were some toothy moments sprinkled in for fans of cheesy shark films.

Images courtesy of Altitude Film Entertainment

Our lead had some potential.

I don’t need too many character layers in shark flicks. We know the body count is going to be high and most often I am rooting for the shark to pick off annoying characters one by one, but I thought that our lead had a lot of potential and stood out from some of the other characters who felt very bland and one dimensional. I did find myself rooting for her, which helped me invest in this one a little more.

The stuffed animal was a scene stealer though…

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Altitude Film Entertainment

Takes itself too seriously…

Look, I didn’t need for this film to make sense logically. I usually throw all reason out the window when I watch these films and I’m fine with it. However, it helps when films recognize their limitations and just go with it.

This film could have been a lot better if it would have had some more fun with things. Some of the moments felt very dragged out and since the acting wasn’t really that great from the majority of the performers, I didn’t care.

We also needed more shark action. I think this movie attempted to do a little bit too much when it could have just let our toothy friends shine.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Altitude Film Entertainment

I’m in about 75 percent…

No Way Up is far from perfect, but if you’re looking for a B shark movie to indulge in, there’s enough here to enjoy. Just manage your expectations accordingly…

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on No Way Up in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Survive” on Demand: Sophie Turner Gives it Her All

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I’ve never been good at lying…”

Survive originally released on the short-lived streaming platform, Quibi in 2020 as individual chapters/episodes, but has now released officially in the US (on Demand) on June 20th 2023 as a full length film. The survival thriller stars Sophie Turner and Corey Hawkins. It runs for an hour and forty-eight minutes.

After their plane crashes in the snow-covered mountains, Jane and Paul have to work together to make it out alive.

Here is the trailer:

Survive is packed with intense and edge-of-your-seat moments with a strong performance from Sophie Turner, but does it do enough to earn a a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Gunpowder & Sky

Sophie Turner gives an emotional performance worth experiencing.

The Game of Thrones star is no stranger to cold winters, but she showed off her range in this film and elevated it in a lot of ways. I thought both actors did a good job and I enjoyed the chemistry between them. I was rooting for Sophie’s character the entire time. She was exceptionally good in this and I hope to see her in more films soon!

Images courtesy of Gunpowder & Sky

Good balance of intense survival moments and emotionally-stirring ones.

In a lot of ways this film reminded me of the Melissa Barrera series, Keep Breathing. There were some nail-biting moments for sure that kept the pacing moving with a lot of emotional layers and revelations built in, which worked seamlessly. It helped me care a lot more about these characters and left us with some important life lessons as well.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Gunpowder & Sky

The opening is a little heavy.

I get that we were trying to understand Jane’s character and where she was at in her life, but it felt very emotionally draining and it was tough to watch at times. Luckily the pacing picked up around the thirty minute mark so this wasn’t a major con.

I enjoyed my watch overall, but I’m not sure that this film did anything that unique in the survival/wilderness thriller genre. I’ve seen this type of movie many times before. That being said, it still had a lot of heart in it and some sincere moments.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Sophie Turner breathes life into your typical survival thriller.

I was genuinely moved by my watch and I thought that both actors did a great job with what they were given.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Yellowjackets” Season 2 Premiere on Showtime: Trippy Goodness

*This is a spoiler-free review for season 2 so feel free to read on!*

“Nobody can help you…”

Yellowjackets season 2 premiered on March 24th 2023 on Showtime. This season will feature eight weekly episodes. It stars Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sammi Hanratty.

Yellowjackets instantly became one of my favorite shows, providing us with two compelling timelines and characters to root for in the midst of some trippy madness that somehow just works. Does season 2 deserve a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Showtime

Dives back into darkness without holding back…

Season 2 jumps right back into things and quickly submerges us into some disturbing dark content. It’s clearly not afraid to unleash something twisted and outrageous, making the season 2 premiere such a compelling watch. I dropped my jaw at several moments and this is only the beginning!

Images courtesy of Showtime

Introduces new faces.

We already have our fair share of characters, but one of the most interesting characters of season 1 makes her first appearance in the present day timeline, which should shake things up for some of our other survivors.

We also get another timeline thrown into the mix and I hope we get to explore it more without overdoing things.

Either way, I’m intrigued!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Showtime

A lot to keep track of…

I highly recommend that you watch the recap at the beginning of the episode to stay up to speed. But you still need to pay attention to a lot of different characters and timelines, which can be slightly overwhelming.

Similar to LOST, this series is branching off into several unique stories and I just hope that each character gets enough screen time because they all deserve it!

So am I in or out?

I’m in 100 percent!

Season 2 starts off with a bang and is not holding back!

I can’t wait to see what happens next and it’s safe to say that Yellowjackets is still just as fantastic as ever!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Yellowjackets” on Showtime: Your Next Obsession has Arrived!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“So what do you think really happened out there?”

Yellowjackets premiered on November 14th 2021 on Showtime. The series will feature ten weekly episodes. It stars Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell and Sammi Hanratty. Each episode runs for approximately 53-55 minutes.

On their way to nationals, a female high school soccer team survives a plane crash in the middle of the wilderness. Years later, they try to cope with the horrific events that took place after the crash.

Here is the trailer:

Yellowjackets effectively blends several genres together, leading us into a twisted mystery with a great cast and a disturbing plot. Does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Showtime

Does plenty to bring you back for more!

Even though there was a lot of set-up in the first episode, it did a really good job of reeling the audience in right from the start. We see glimpses of several dark and disturbing moments in the past that left me wanting more immediately. I’m so anxious to explore the mystery surrounding these characters and I am completely hooked!

Images courtesy of Showtime

All-star cast!

I expected fantastic things from Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci and Melanie Lynskey, but even their younger selves are stealing the show. There is a lot of talent here and I’m so excited to see them all interact more.

Effectively blends genres and time jumps without making our heads spin…

There is a lot to process, but I thought that this show managed to effectively jump back and forth in time. One of my biggest cons with Cruel Summer was that I felt like my head was spinning with the constant time jumps even though I loved the mystery at the center.

Yellowjackets gets this right and I actually thought the past plot was a little more intriguing than the present, but I’m confident that everything will seamlessly connect, bringing us a story worth getting excited about.

I also thought that the blending of genres worked effortlessly. There is something dark and horrific going on, immediately giving me vibes of Alive and The Wilds, but there are also some sprinkles of Big Little Lies too which should make an interesting mash-up.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Showtime

A lot to keep track of…

The time jumps were effective in this series, but the pilot episode was jam-packed with so much. Don’t get me wrong…I absolutely loved all of it, but it was a lot to process and I felt like I needed a cheat sheet at times for certain things, but there’s still plenty of time to figure everything out in ten episodes.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Showtime

I’m in 100 percent!

I’m so excited about this show and I can’t wait to see how things unfold!

The cast is out of this world, the past and the present both have compelling plots, and the dark secrets rooted in the past are so intriguing and I need to know more!

It’s safe to say that I am completely hooked and I think that you will be too!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Yellowjackets in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Wilds” on Prime Video: So Much More than a “LOST” Rip-Off

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“We should have died, but we didn’t…”

The Wilds premiered on Amazon Prime Video on December 11th 2020 with ten episodes available to stream now. The series stars Sarah Pidgeon, Mia Healey, Sophia Ali, Reign Edwards, and Rachel Griffiths. Each episode runs for approximately 50-55 minutes.

The show is about a group of teenage girls who end up stranded on a deserted island after their plane crashes.

Sound familiar? Well, it certainly screams LOST with its premise, but the twists and reveals lead us down a unique path that begs to be explored.

Here is the trailer:

The Wilds attempts to find a balance between mystery and survival while exploring the past of each stranded girl with flashbacks. While I can’t dismiss the similarities between both shows, does The Wilds do enough to stand apart from LOST? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

The Wilds Prime Video Spoiler-Free Review 1

Images courtesy of Prime Video

Believable characters with layers.

When I first started watching this show, I was worried that these girls would quickly blend into uninspiring stock characters. The party girl, the Christian girl, the athlete, the outcast…

The list seemed to be all there and yet each and every one of these characters took that stereotype and stomped on it completely, revealing what truly makes them tick. Each character has struggled in some way or another, but their journey really helped shape them into characters to root for, which is important in a show like this.

The Wilds Prime VIdeo Spoiler-Free Review 2

Quickly forms its own identity with addicting and intense reveals.

While the first episode will really make you think of LOST and Lord of the Flies, the show quickly finds its footing and actually lures us into an enticing mystery that is very different. The twists were well placed and each reveal pulled me in that much more, which made this binge-watch friendly.

The episodes were almost an hour and I didn’t even mind because I was so hooked.

And that ending…wow!

The Cons:

The Wilds Spoiler Free Review 3

The trailer doesn’t do this show justice…

From the trailer, I thought that I was going to watch a LOST rip-off with a lot of teenage melodrama. Instead, I got a thought-provoking emotional thrill ride that may have been one of the best things I have watched in a long time.

This show could have easily gone a different way and instead it really surprised me. If you were thinking about skipping the show from the trailer alone, you should give it a try because it exceeded my expectations and then some.

So am I in or out?

The Wilds Spoiler Free Review 4

I’m in 100 percent!

This series was so addicting, but it also really dived deep into some emotionally stirring moments that created important layers for the show. Similar to why I love LOST so much, this show was about so much more than being stranded on an island after a plane crash. It was about character connections and moments of both strength and weakness colliding.

I loved this show so much and I am beyond excited that it already got picked up for season two because I need to know what happens next after that major cliffhanger!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Wilds in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
