Spoiler-Free Review of “The Hunting Wives” on Netflix: Your Next Guilty Pleasure Binge-Watch is Here!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I’m not good with Texas people…”

The Hunting Wives premiered on Netflix on July 21st 2025 with all eight episodes available to stream now. The drama crime thriller series (based on the novel of the same name) stars Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Katie Lowes, Evan Jonigkeit, and Dermot Mulroney Each episode is approximately 45-50 minutes.

Sophie moves from Massachusetts to Texas, where she is introduced to a group of housewives with deadly secrets.

Here is the trailer:

The Hunting Wives is a soapy and insane thriller that channels Desperate Housewives and Big Little Lies, but does it do enough to be worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Stacked cast!

As soon as I saw the cast for this one, I knew I was in. There were so many familiar faces and I loved the dynamic between all of the characters. The chemistry between Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman was off the charts!

I haven’t been this excited about about a cast in a long time! I’d love to see a crossover between these ladies and the women of Desperate Housewives. Now that would be something!

So addicting!

OK, so it started out really cheesy and soapy, but by the time I got to episode 3, I was completely hooked. There were some insane reveals in this one that kept me guessing. This show definitely gave off some Desperate Housewives vibes with a darker mystery. I loved it!

The Cons:

Sluggish start.

The first two episodes dragged a little for me and there were a few times when I asked myself what I was really watching. Luckily, things turned around in the best way possible by the time I got to episode 3 and it was a crazy ride after that.

Be prepared for some excess fluff and over-the-top sex scenes that seemed to happen almost every other scene at one point. However, I think it added to the guilty pleasure factor, but if that’s not your thing, be warned.

So am I in or out?

Spoiler-Free Review of “Night Always Comes” on Netflix: A Dark and Gripping Watch

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“You control your choices…”

Night Always Comes released on August 15th 2025 on Netflix. Based on the book, “The Night Always Comes,” the crime thriller drama film stars Vanessa Kirby, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Stephan James, Randall Park, and Eli Roth. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty minutes.

Lynette has one night to come up with $25,000 or her family will be evicted, forcing her to resort to extreme measures in order to come up with the cash.

Here is the trailer:

Night Always Comes takes a deep look at the harsh reality surrounding the main character, giving the audience a balance of intense moments and heartbreaking ones that really make you think about your own choices under extreme conditions. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Vanessa Kirby gives a convincing performance.

I thought that she was fantastic in this. Her character had a lot of layers and flaws, which made her more realistic to me. We didn’t spend too much time on her backstory, but as the plot continued to unfold, we got more information about what she was going through and how she used to live, which hooked me that much more.

She wasn’t really on my radar before this (even though I’ve seen her in a few films), but I am looking forward to seeing her in more now.

Adrenaline-filled moments.

While I wouldn’t say that this was a clear cut thriller, the film did have plenty of intense moments that had me on the edge of my seat. My heart was pounding during a few key scenes. This was a different kind of thriller, but it still delivered for me as our main character spiraled out of control and went down a dangerous path on more than one occasion.

The Cons:

Really depressing at times.

I had to be in the right mindset to watch this one. There were a lot of depressing moments here. If you’re looking for a quick, bubble-gum pop thriller, that’s not this film. It makes you think a lot and it really takes a deep dive into some content that could make you uncomfortable (although I do think it was necessary for this film).

So am I in or out?

Spoiler-Free Review of “Wednesday” Season 2 Part 1 on Netflix: Loses Some of Its Magic

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“It’s been an eventful summer…”

Wednesday season 2, part 1 premiered on August 6th on Netflix with four episodes available to stream now. The remaining four episodes will release on September 3rd. The supernatural drama series stars Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Each episode is approximately 55-60 minutes.

While attending Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams finds herself caught up in another mystery that threatens someone close to her.

Here is the trailer:

Wednesday season 2 loses some steam this time around with dragged out pacing and a plot that seems all too familiar now. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Jenna Ortega is as wickedly charming as ever!

She’s the best part of the series and probably the only reason I kept watching season 2. I think she was born for this role and she is excelling once again. That being said, I’d like to see some more growth for her character, but so far she is lighting up the screen in the best way possible.

I also like that other characters are getting some more screen time this time around. It seemed like some characters were merely there as an afterthought in season 1. I just don’t want the show to shift away from Wednesday too much because this is her show, but I’ve enjoyed some of the other characters and there were a few fun surprises too.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Dragged out with super long episodes.

I don’t think they were that long in season 1, but maybe I was just enjoying my watch more? It took me a while to get through part 1 of season 2. I remember binge-watching season one effortlessly so this was disappointing.

It just seemed so slow and dragged out. I also feel like the mystery is watered down this time around and it’s a plot I’ve seen a million times before on other teen mystery/fantasy shows. I’m hoping that things turn around in the second half of the season but so far I am losing interest.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m 50/50 on this…

Wednesday (Season 2, Part 1) is Nancy Drew-esque, feeling a little stale and dragged out with its mystery.

Jenna Ortega is as brilliant as ever, but I’d love to see something extreme to pull me back in for the second half of the season.

Spoiler-Free Review of “WEAPONS” in Theaters: An Insane Watch!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“What happened in that classroom?”
WEAPONS released in theaters on August 8th 2025. The mystery horror film stars Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, and Alden Ehrenreich. It runs for approximately two hours and eight minutes.

After a group of kids from the same classroom vanish into the night at 2:17 am, the town is left to pick up the pieces, attempting to figure out what happened to them and why there was only one child left behind.
Here is the trailer:

WEAPONS is a nail-biting horror film that develops into something borderline bat-shit crazy and yet somehow it works effortlessly. Does it do enough to be worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

A mystery that lures you in.

This film did a great job of setting the eerie scene with a compelling mystery that immediately hooked the audience. I had some working theories, but it went in a completely different direction than I was anticipating and I loved it.

The buildup here was fantastic. It started out creepy and sinister, but it soon formed into a wild ride of complete lunacy that was incredible to watch unfold on screen. Wow!

There were similar vibes to Barbarian here and even a cool cameo to be excited about!

The Cons:

Slightly confusing at times…

I really don’t have many cons of this movie at all. I loved every second of it. At first, I was slightly confused by the changes in narration, jumping from each character, but looking back at it now, I think it was actually genius and I feel like I would appreciate that more watching the movie a second time.

As a first time watcher, it was a little jarring at times. I would start connecting to a story-line and then have to switch gears, but as the film continued with the reveals, these changes made more sense to me and also became more seamless.

Again, I wouldn’t really call these cons because I think they enhanced the overall experience as a viewer, trying to figure out what was going on here just like the rest of the town.

So am I in or out?

I’m in 100 percent!

WEAPONS is a disturbingly delightful mash-up of Barbarian and Longlegs with an unhinged voice of its own.

One of my favorite films of the year!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on WEAPONS in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Together” in Theaters: Delightfully Disturbing!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“This move will be good for both of us…”

Together released in theaters on July 31st 2025. The horror film stars Alison Brie, Dave Franco, and Damon Herriman. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-two minutes.

Real life couple, Dave Franco and Alison Brie, star as Tim and Mille, who move out to the countryside, leaving their friends and loved ones behind while dealing with new strains on their relationship. After going on a hike, they encounter a mysterious force that threatens to bind them together (literally) forever.

Here is the trailer:

Together is bizarre, extreme, and filled with cohesive charm, but does it do enough to be worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Alison Brie & Dave Franco are electric together!

This really should come as no surprise since they are married in real life, but I think it was genius to cast them in a film like this, which relied so heavily on chemistry and connection. I’m not normally into body horror films, but these two sold me on it.

They were relatable and genuinely funny despite the extreme concept, which gave this film a surprising balance of dark rom-com charm and gross out gore. I fell in love with these two on screen and thought they were both fantastic.

They were so committed to this, which worked in the film’s favor. Wow!

Stomach-turning moments!

In a lot of ways, I would say this film was The Substance-lite, which I actually kind of preferred. I don’t like feeling like I’m about to vomit while watching a movie. Don’t get me wrong…there were lots of insane moments if you’re a fan of body horror, but I also appreciated the lore behind it all, which gave it some layered mystery.

The Cons:

The second half is stronger than the first…

I actually really enjoyed this movie and don’t have many cons at all. If I have to nitpick, I would say that this film could have been just a touch shorter. The beginning had some setup that could have been cut out, but I wouldn’t say it got in the way of the pacing that much.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Dave Franco and Alison Brie are a twisted, freaky match made in horror heaven and I’m here for it!

I went into this one not expecting much and it surprised me in all the right ways.
