“I need to get out of here…”

No One Gets Out Alive released on September 29th 2021. The supernatural horror film is currently available to stream on Netflix. It stars Cristina Rodlo, Marc Menchaca and David Figlioli. It runs for approximately 90 minutes.

An immigrant tries to make ends meet when she rents a cheap room in a boarding house, but she quickly discovers that something dark and sinister is lurking within the walls.

No One Gets Out Alive takes a creepy premise and weaves it into a reality that may be even more frightening and disturbing. Does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Creepy visual effects.

Similar to Malignant but on a lower scale, No One Gets Out Alive is quite effective with its use of lighting and visual style. I thought they created a genuinely creepy vibe that lasted throughout the entire movie. I almost felt like I was being followed right along with our main character and the boarding house setting was a solid choice.

Threw me for a loop.

This movie started off in one direction and then it split off into several other ones. I liked that the movie kept me guessing and the ending was completely shocking and horrifying. A lot was left open, but I thought the film did a good job of reeling the viewer in for more and more in a unique way.

I also thought that the film balanced supernatural fears with real ones, creating an important conversation worth having.

The Cons:

Needed some answers…

I’m all for an ending that leaves things open for interpretation, but that ending was so incredibly shocking and it just left me with a lot of questions. The movie was long enough, but I needed some back-story and history to fill in the blanks and I think it might have helped me connect just a little bit more to the overall plot.

So am I in or out?

I’m in about 75 percent…

Overall, I was engaged throughout my watch. I thought it was genuinely creepy and disturbing and it did something unique worth talking about.

I needed a little bit more and I had too many questions at the end, but I still thought this was an entertaining watch and I’m loving that Netflix is releasing a new horror movie every Wednesday. So much fun for October!
