My performance of the week ending 5/4/19 on TV goes to…

Maisie Williams as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones. I don’t think that I have ever cheered so much for a character on television in my life.  However, when I watched Game of Thrones season 8 episode 3, Arya had my undivided attention.  Please note some spoilers are ahead.  All of Arya’s scenes had me on the edge of my seat.  Watching her fight the White Walkers was incredible and her character embodied female empowerment, but to a new level.  While some of the other male characters hid in the corner or gave up, Arya refused to back down and continued to fight.  Her father and Syrio Forel would be more than proud!

What Do we say to the god of death.gif

Maisie’s performance went viral on social media, as many fans began posting with the #NotToday hashtag.  Melisandre reminded Arya of Syrio Forel’s teachings when she asked her, “What do we say to the God of Death?” which brought everything full circle for Arya.  All of the lessons and everything that Arya has been through brought her to this very moment, as she now faces her most difficult challenge yet.

I love that Arya didn’t triumph with mere strength.  Rather, she uses her wit and her skills to outsmart her opponents, proving to be more than worthy of being the one to get that game winning shot later on in the episode.  Arya is a hero and she has been one of my favorite characters on the show since the very beginning.  She has grown up so much and I feel like we have all been there every step of the way, watching her mature and transform into a powerful warrior with a fire within her that cannot be put out.

What’s next for Arya?  I’m not sure, but I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to her victory.  Arya really did save the day, but the fight is not even close to being over, as we still need to tackle the fight for the Iron Throne.  It looks like it may be time for Daenerys to face off against Cersei, but one should never underestimate our girl and my hero, Arya Stark!  I can’t wait to see how it all ends!

Stay tuned for a recognized performance on TV each week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists” season 1 episode 7: “She’s not an A”

Greetings TV fans!  After watching Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars:  The Perfectionists season 1 episode 7, I learned that “you can’t will someone to be trustworthy,” but “if you’re honest, there are no wrong answers” when it comes to who you are.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In Wednesday night’s episode, “Dead Week,” Mona realizes that she is now a major player in the game, but is she ready to play?  Meanwhile, Alison comes clean with the group about Taylor and tries to get through to her.  My top 5 moments from Pretty Little Liars:  The Perfectionists season 1 episode 7 are:

5

“I wanted you to hear it from me first.”

In the beginning of the episode, Alison lets the group know that Taylor is really alive.  She knows that this news is about to be broadcasted all over the place and she thinks it is important to share it with Ava, Caitlin, and Dylan first.  She explains that Nolan knew and that he was trying to keep them safe.  We know that Taylor was running away from someone who was threatening her, so is the same person now threatening Ava, Caitlin, and Dylan?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but the cat is finally out of the bag and Taylor is now out in the open.  But can she truly be trusted?

4

“He only hates you because he loves you.”

Dylan continues to try and win back Andrew’s affection in this episode, but Andrew has made it clear that he needs some time after learning about Dylan’s secret past with Nolan.  Andrew finally comes around at the end of the episode and the two of them have a sweet moment together, as they slow dance.  It looks like the two of them are home now, but they make it clear that there will be no more secrets between them, but we know that the drama is nowhere near over.  Will Andrew be able to fully support Dylan?

3

“I know who this is!”

So I’ve been wondering who Bad Bishop is for quite some time and our girl Mona finally figures it out after Bad Bishop says that “chess is the art of math.”  Mona remembers that Mason said something similar about playing piano during their counseling session and she confronts him.  Mason admits to being Bad Bishop and asks what comes next and Mona says, “Start a new game,” as their conversation is interrupted when Nolan’s identification card is used somewhere, luring Mona away.  Now that we know that Mason is Bad Bishop, what does this mean for Mona?  Is this a new potential romance for her or a good friend?  We’ll have to wait and see, but it looks like Mason has been cleared of any involvement in Nolan’s murder, but let’s hope that he has good intentions for Mona.

2

“So reinvent yourself and follow through.”

I love the growing friendship between Alison and Mona on this spin-off and they have another truly significant moment together.  Alison has been feeling torn over Taylor, recognizing the connection here.  She has been trying to balance her life and make time for her family while also making a difference in the lives of her students, but she is feeling slightly defeated.  Mona gives her a pep talk and tells her to follow through on starting over so that Alison can truly get her fresh start.  I think that Mona and Alison have a great dynamic and they make a terrific tag team.  Let’s just hope they can bring this new “A” down before it’s too late!

1

“Let’s take this bitch down.”

After Mona gets an interesting set of cupcakes featuring a creepy message asking:  “Can we be pals?” she realizes that she has just become a major player in the new A’s game.  Mona realizes that whoever broke into her apartment and left the cupcakes has Nolan’s ID card and she is determined to get to the bottom of this.  After tracking the ID card to Dana Booker, Mona realizes that she is going to need someone on the inside as well and she tells Alison, “I refuse to be a doll.”  Mona is ready to take on whoever she needs to and I think Dana Booker better watch her back.  She may be clever, but there is no one like our girl, Mona.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Pretty Little Liars:  The Perfectionists in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 20: “A Prom Night Truce?”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 20, I realized that we now have two serial killers loose in the small town of Riverdale.  Is this town big enough for the both of them?  Are they working together?  The questions continue to pile up, but one thing is for certain, Betty Cooper better watch out!  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Fifty-Five:  Prom Night,” Betty and Jughead continue to work together after discovering the Gargoyle King’s gospel.  Meanwhile, Archie takes on a little bit too much and Cheryl’s campaign for prom queen is frowned upon by the Farm.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 20 are:

5

“What if he planned this?”

In the beginning of the episode, Betty reacts to the news of her father’s death, but she is not completely positive that he is gone.  Betty begins to worry that he planned this all along and used her.  But what if the Black Hood truly did escape?  What would be his next move?  Betty is assured that her father is dead after part of his hand is identified from the bus crash and she insists that she has to keep moving, but Betty’s fears are about to become a reality.

4

“Vote Choni!”

I mean, Choni would absolutely have my vote for Prom Queens, but Cheryl’s campaign doesn’t go exactly according to plan when Evelyn tries to get her to stop, explaining that it is not approved by the Farm.  Cheryl doesn’t listen to Evelyn, but Edgar steps in and tells her that she will not be able to see Jason anymore if she continues to do this.  Cheryl stands down, as seeing Jason is her number one priority, but why does the Farm really care so much about whether or not Cheryl is crowned queen?

We also still don’t know how Cheryl is seeing Jason and I’m hoping we get some answers soon.  I also started to think about the Farm’s real problem with Cheryl being crowned queen and wondered if it had something to do with the Gargoyle King’s gospel.  We know that becoming the “Gryphon Queen” is part of the Gargoyle King’s world, so is there a connection here?  Either way, I was happy to see Choni dance together at the prom and they are the true prom queens in my book!

3

“What was off is now back on.”

After Josie’s departure and several hints along the way, it looks like Varchie may be making a comeback and it’s about time!  Archie asks Veronica to the prom as friends, but their slow dance together reminded us that these two definitely still have some sparks flying.  After Archie tries to take on two boxing matches in the same day, Veronica tries to intervene and help him, but ultimately she asks for Archie’s help when she discovers that she doesn’t really own Pop’s Diner and that her father has been playing her this whole time.  Is Varchie ready to finally take down Hiram Lodge?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but I loved seeing these two re-connect.  Let’s just hope that Hiram doesn’t pull them apart again.

2

“How about you admit that you’re the Gargoyle King?”

Jughead discovers the gospel of the Gargoyle King on the bus while helping his father investigate, but he keeps this to himself.  Jughead learns from Jellybean that the gospel supposedly holds all of the Gargoyle King’s secrets, so this could be extremely useful.  However, it seems a little bit too convenient that it ends up in Jughead’s hands.  Either way, Jughead and Betty continue to investigate their suspicions and find out that someone else received the same mysterious tattoos as Kurtz, which were the symbols carved into the backs of the victims.

The man is described with sandy hair and magnetic blue eyes so Betty immediately assumes that the Gargoyle King is Edgar.  Betty walks into the Farm and demands answers, but is shocked when Edgar willingly takes off his shirt and reveals that he does not have the tattoos.  He only has an infinity symbol on his wrist, which Alice is now sporting as well.  So if not Edgar, then who?

1

“I did what you asked. What do you want?”

It’s prom night and Betty and Jughead enlist the help of some of their friends to lure the Gargoyle King there.  They create a renaissance or medieval times theme and Betty is running unopposed for the title of Prom Queen…or Gryphon Queen, which should lead Betty right to the Gargoyle King, according to the gospel.  During prom, Betty is handed a note from a masked student and she is told to come alone to the place where the game all started.  Betty heads down to the ladies bathroom and walks into a room with two chalices.

“Flip for your fate” is written everywhere, but Betty refuses to do so.  Betty comes face to face with the Gargoyle King and asks him what he wants.  Betty points her gun at the Gargoyle King, proving that she means business, but she is interrupted when the Black Hood shows up as well.  Betty is shocked to see the Black Hood and tries to reason with him, but it looks like Dad is not in a talking mood.  Betty runs for her life and kicks some serious ass with a hockey stick.

Luckily, Jughead finds her before it is too late, but Betty is now clearly in danger.  Betty heads off to the Farm to warn her mother, fearing that Hal may be coming for her next.  Edgar says that he can protect her and offers for her to stay and she accepts, but is Betty in more danger at the Farm?  This episode was jam-packed with suspense and action and I have so many questions and theories now.  Is the Black Hood truly Hal or is it possible that Edgar could have been posing as him?  This whole time, the Farm has been trying to get Betty to join willingly and now she has just agreed to stay.  Was this all part of the plan?  I’m not sure, but Betty better watch her back.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The 100” season 6 episode 1 Season Premiere: “Red Sun Rising”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s The 100 season 6 episode 1, the 125 year wait is over.  Well not for us exactly, but it has been quite some time since we last checked in on some of our favorite characters.  It looks like it’s time for them to start over and everything seems a little bit familiar, but danger and drama is never too far away, even if you find a new planet.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Sanctum,” Clarke and Bellamy begin to wake up some of their friends, as they decide to follow Monty’s recommendation and attempt to see if they can start over on Alpha.  Meanwhile, Abby desperately tries to save Kane’s life and Octavia reminds us that Blodreina has not exactly turned over a new leaf just yet.  My top 5 moments from The 100 season 6 episode 1 Season Premiere are:

5

“So let’s do better…”

Echo reminds us that “there’s no starting over without forgiveness” and perhaps she is right.  As our favorite characters begin to wake up from Cryosleep, they process the information that Monty has left for them, ready to get their second chance…or maybe their “fifth chance,” according to Murphy.  Clarke prepares to take a team out to the Alpha planet, which we actually discover is a moon, to determine if it is survivable.  Only they won’t know until they get down there.  Sounds familiar?  The plot gave me some season one nostalgia for sure, but Alpha is very different from earth and it looks like our favorite characters will not have an easy time surviving here.

When the team is camping for the night, Clarke takes this opportunity to give a motivational speech and explains, “If I could, I’d go back and do things differently…but I can’t.  None of us can.”  While Clarke’s speech is not exactly well received by all, Shaw reminds her that “it’s what you do not what you say” and he has a point.  Let’s see if actions speak louder than Clarke’s words, as these new threats emerge.

4

“Tell Raven she deserves happiness.”

So, I was absolutely shipping Raven and Shaw last season and we finally got some swoon-worthy moments between them in the beginning of the episode.  However, Raven has to stay on board, while Shaw acts as the pilot to bring the team down to Alpha, which is never a good sign.  After an eclipse, darkness prevails on Alpha and a killer swarm is headed their way.  When the team begins running away, Shaw knocks into a radiation fence.  Clarke tries to help him, but it is too late and Shaw is gone.  Poor Raven!  Shaw died a hero, but it looks like Alpha is not exactly safe after dark.  We’ve got killer swarms, radiation fences, and a castle?  I don’t know about you, but I am definitely intrigued, but it is a shame about Shaw.

3

“I’m sorry I couldn’t respond all those years…”

Even with all of the chaos going on, Bellarke fans get a moment between Clarke and Bellamy.  Yay!  Clarke learns that Madi filled Bellamy in on Clarke trying to radio out to him for all those years, which gives us a sweet moment between these two.  Echo is still in the picture, so it doesn’t look like there is time for romance just yet, but I am hoping we get some more Bellarke moments this season, as I absolutely love the friendship and bond between these two.  A girl can dream…

2

“Then you’re a bigger fool than him…”

Meanwhile, back on the ship, Abby learns that Monty worked on his algae project some more to try and help Kane.  Monty’s son, Jordan, presents it to Abby, as she tries to use it to save her beloved.  Kane actually wakes up and these two are reunited for a brief moment, which was beautiful and heartwarming to see.  However, Kane is not the only one awake, as Octavia finally faces them.  You would think that 125 years of sleep would calm down Blodreina, but she is still on fire, ready to unleash her rage on these two “traitors.”

While they are arguing, Kane goes into critical arrest and Abby is forced to put him back into Cryosleep until they can find another way to save him.  I seriously can’t take these two being apart and I hope this doesn’t cause Abby to relapse, but she did grab the bottle of pills before she walked away, which is not a great sign.  Now that Octavia is awake, how will she react to all of these changes going on?  We’ll have to wait and see, but it looks like the Red Queen isn’t going anywhere for now.

1

“So few are safe once they’re exposed…”

As Clarke and the others begin to investigate the castle and the world around them, they discover that a family had been sent down here to live, but Clarke discovers an interesting nursery rhyme book called, “Red Sun Rising.”  Only they quickly discover that it’s not really a nursery rhyme, it’s more of a warning.  The story talks about how everything changes in the dark and what dangers lie ahead.

Before they can get much further, Emori begins brutally attacking Murphy and Clarke and Bellamy realize that the danger is in the air.  It doesn’t just impact nature, it impacts them as well, exposing them to something uncontrollable.  What does this mean for our characters and is there any way to cure this night version rage?  It looks like it’s going to be a bumpy ride on The 100Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The 100 in the comments section below.  Thanks for reading and happy viewing!
