Review of “Riverdale” Season 5, Episode 13 on the CW: Riverdale goes Coyote Ugly on us

**Please note spoilers are ahead if you are not caught up with the series.**

“I should have stabbed you harder when I had the chance…”

After Hiram Lodge’s origin story last week, we return to present day events with episode 13. Betty and Tabitha continue to work together to stop the mysterious trucker killer while some other new partnerships form as well.

Does Riverdale season 5 episode 13 get things back on track?

Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of The CW

The team-up continues!

Betty and Tabitha really do make a good team and I was happy that we actually spent a lot of time on them in this week’s episode. Betty attempts to lure a possible suspect but winds up in a lot of trouble with a chainsaw, but luckily Tabitha shows up to help her out.

But, is this deranged trucker really the killer Betty has been looking for?

I’m not so sure, but it looks like things are going to get really interesting in next week’s episode when Betty decides to interrogate him.

Even though there were a lot of things that seemed ridiculous and unbelievable with these scenes, they were still entertaining and that’s what I’m looking for from this show.

Images courtesy of The CW

The Coyote Ugly performance was a lot of fun!

Betty and Tabitha come up with an idea to put on a Coyote Ugly-esque performance to lure in potential trucker scum, allowing us to witness a showstopping number featuring Veronica, Betty, Tabitha and Cheryl!

I thought this was genius and finally the singing made sense!

Unlikely partnerships are in the air.

Cheryl and Kevin and Veronica and Reggie work together in this episode and I actually really liked the interactions here. It allowed some of the supporting characters a chance to get some air time without pushing the envelope too much.

I just don’t want to hear about Veronica being the “She Wolf of Wall Street” anymore…

The Cons:

Images courtesy of The CW

Archie’s story-line…

Look I really like Archie, but these post-war flashbacks were beyond ridiculous. The acting was so bad in them so I could not take them seriously. As much as I want to support Archie with helping out rescue dogs in need (seriously loved this), I’m not sure I am buying the rest of it.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of The CW

I’m in about 75 percent…

I liked this episode a lot more than the last two I watched, but things are still spiraling out of control in terms of the plot. I think we need to focus more on the trucker mystery and Jughead’s potential disappearance and find something else for Archie to do in town…

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Review of “Riverdale” Season 5, Episode 11 on the CW: A New Team-Up

**Please note spoilers are ahead if you are not caught up with the series.**

“What the hell just happened?”

A good question for sure as new episodes of Riverdale finally return. It’s been a while since we last checked in on our favorite little town and a lot has happened. After the brilliant idea to flash forward into the future, our favorite characters may be older, but they haven’t really changed…

Even though this episode is right in the middle of season 5, it does serve as a mid-season premiere in a lot of ways, but does it do enough to keep us coming back for more?

Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of The CW

More Cheryl!

The Queen of Riverdale hasn’t really been in the spotlight lately so I appreciated that this episode devoted some well deserved screen time to her…along with Penelope Blossom. I don’t really buy Penelope’s new act and I’m also wondering how she convinced people to actually join her new ministry with promises of a realm filled with maple syrup?

As silly as it is, it gave our scene stealer a chance to shine although I think that the writers should come up with a better angle/story-line for our girl Cheryl. She deserves it and so do we!

Images courtesy of The CW

Tabitha and Betty make a great team!

I don’t know about you, but I always love the episodes where Betty teams up with another girl to kick some ass. Betty is Final Girl material to her core and so much more, but sometimes she needs someone else (Veronica or Cheryl) to back her up to add in a new dynamic.

Well, we have a new duo to talk about and that’s Tabitha and Betty. I actually really like Tabitha and she has been a welcomed addition to the series. After working with Jughead’s ex to figure out what happened to him combined with a crazy drug trip, it looks like Tabitha and Betty will be working together to find out what happened to the missing girls, which is the strongest story-line this season.

I can’t wait to see what they do next!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of The CW

Too much going on in one episode…

Riverdale is known for jamming multiple story-lines in at once, but this episode felt really chaotic and all over the place. We had the convicts on the loose, Hiram taken hostage, Veronica and Archie contemplating their relationship, a drug trip, and Jughead roaming around Sketch Alley. Sure, that sounds like a good place to visit…

Once we got to the random singing, I really couldn’t take it. I love the musical entries when they make sense, but this just seemed over-the-top and I expect a lot more from one of my favorite series…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of The CW

I’m 50/50 on this one…

Season 5 has made some bold decisions and while I love some story-lines, others need to go. I really want to get back to the mystery surrounding Polly and the trucker, but it looks like we are going to have a Hiram origin story next week…

Overall, the episode felt all over the place but I’m confident that we can get back on track with the remaining episodes. It looks like we just have to get through some filler ones first.

Plus, I’m dying to find out what happens to Jughead now that he got on that truck…

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 5 Episode 10: “The Pincushion Man”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s Riverdale season 5 episode 10, I learned that when people are dying, you sometimes need to make time for a term paper.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In episode, “Chapter Eighty-Six: The Pincushion Man,” Betty and Alice’s party is crashed by some familiar faces. Meanwhile, Jughead and Tabitha grow closer, but it looks like Betty may be the only one truly on his mind, and Veronica’s ex is determined to make her life a living hell.

My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 5 episode 10 are:

5

“You follow the order.”

Archie is surprised to hear that his commanding officer wants to present with him with the Silver Eagle award because he doesn’t feel right about what happened on the mission. We later discover that perhaps this was a dirty mission after all and Archie doesn’t feel right about just following orders.

We know that Archie is always going to stand up for what he feels is right, but is he in over his head here?

4

“You don’t owe him anything.”

Chadwick rears his annoying head and Veronica decides to go out to New York for closure. She talks more about the helicopter crash and tells Archie that she initially wished for Chad to die and feels horrible about what happened. Archie reminds Veronica that she doesn’t owe Chad anything, but she feels like she needs to do this.

Images courtesy of The CW

Meanwhile, Chadwick has a romantic dinner at home planned for her and tries to bring some nostalgia to their final date, which leads to some extremely poor decisions by Veronica. They kiss and more is implied, but what about Archie?

Also, you are the “She-Wolf” of Wall Street, but you couldn’t tell that Chadwick was playing you?

Chadwick reveals later that he made some bad investment decisions that involve Veronica’s company and that if she divorces him, he will sue her. I can’t say that I am surprised by these actions, but now Veronica is stuck staying in New York to handle things.

Chadwick is a mini Hiram, but Veronica needs to step up her game so she can truly move on with her life.

Your move, V.

3

“There is no curse.”

We get to witness a lovely date between Cheryl and Minerva as she takes her out to the maple groves, but we discover that they are dry and Nana Rose tells her it’s because of the curse.

Cheryl is determined to point out that there is no curse as she is finally taking ownership back of her life. Later on, Reggie and Hiram make amends and Nana Rose sells the groves to them, but apparently this deal is void because Cheryl had her declared senile years ago.

Reggie decides to light the groves on fire, but maybe the curse is real after all…

The Blossom ladies pray for wind and not all of the groves are damaged.

But, why does Hiram want to control them and what is the deal with Reggie?

As much as I like to see Cheryl happy, I also am still rooting for Choni in the end. Let’s just hope it’s not too late for them.

2

“Let’s just be friends.”

In the beginning of the episode we see Jughead and Tabitha dancing at Pop’s and they actually share a kiss. However, Jughead tells her that his life is complicated and wants to just be friends, which Tabitha actually seems OK with.

Images courtesy of The CW

Meanwhile, Jughead needs to produce some pages and tells her that he needs to do some “Maple Mushrooms” so he can write something brilliant. I’m not making this stuff up…

Tabitha handcuffs Jughead to his desk so he can get some work done and checks in on him periodically, but Jughead’s trippy hallucinations reveal that he is not over Betty just yet as we actually get a steamy and passionate Bughead scene.

Images courtesy of The CW

The hallucinations turn bloody; however, as Jughead then starts seeing the Mothman and Tabitha later finds his bloody handcuffs left on the desk and Jughead has disappeared.

So, what did Jughead see?

Was he truly taken by something or did he wander off on his drug trip?

We’ll have to wait to find out, but this mystery surrounding Jughead is getting weirder and weirder.

At least we had that Bughead scene though and I actually really feel bad for Tabitha. She has a lot of patience!

1

“Let’s just get through whatever this is.”

Easier said than done, Alice. We find out more about Glen as we discover that he is actually writing his dissertation on serial killers in the Cooper family. Betty is extremely upset and rightfully so and Glen gets a slap in the face.

Images courtesy of The CW

However, that’s not all. After Hiram decides to shake things up with an intentional prison break, we start to remember just how many family members are locked up behind bars. Uncle Frank helps out Archie and Penelope is back in the fold, but Charles and Chic have some serious plans.

They break up the birthday party for the twins and want to be married by Alice and she actually begins the ceremony. You gotta love Alice.

Glen walks in with bad timing and Charles decides that he wants to play “The Pincushion man” and wants one of the twins to stab Glen.

Betty tries to get him to see reason and says that she will do it to spare the innocence of her niece and nephew. Betty actually stabs Glen, but purposely gives him a flesh wound and turns the tables on Chic and Charles.

We know that Glen and Charles both went to the hospital and Betty is still motivated to find out what happened to Polly even though the case has been re-assigned.

Is Polly still alive?

I’m thinking so and I can’t wait to follow Betty on this journey, but we’re going to have to wait a while for a new episode.

This was a jam-packed mid-season finale, but I still have so many questions that will remain unanswered for quite a while.

New episodes return August 11th!

Stay tuned, Riverdale fans!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 5 Episode 9: “Destroyer”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s Riverdale season 5 episode 9, I learned that “either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.”

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In episode, “Chapter Eighty-Five: Destroyer,” Betty gets some disturbing news that causes her darkness to re-emerge. Meanwhile, Archie and Veronica try to promote some school spirit while Kev has a breaking point.

My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 5 episode 9 are:

5

“So why don’t you all show some school spirit?”

The Bulldogs are not great, but Archie sees the potential in each and every one of them. Veronica tries to spark some incentive and get the town motivated by flashing some cash and her connections, but Archie truly cares about his players and wants to make a difference.

It looks like he has done enough to make Hiram mad, which even prompts Reggie to switch sides, but can Reggie really be trusted?

Images courtesy of The CW

Hiram somehow knows how to do everything and brings his team to victory, but Archie’s team shows a spark of life, proving that the town of Riverdale is not dead just yet.

4

“I think I’m ashamed of myself.”

Meanwhile, Kevin has a breakthrough after getting beat up in a steam room. He confides in his dad, who is always there to support him, and starts to break down why he goes cruising in the woods.

I think Kev has finally realized the root cause of his issues, but hopefully he will realize that he deserves to be loved. I’d love to see him and Fangs live happily ever after!

3

“I’ll even come out of retirement.”

And we’re so glad you did, Cheryl. Cheryl puts on a show-stopping number with the Vixens to really show some school spirit and it’s about time. Our Queen Bee is back and it looks like she is ready to bring her team straight to victory. Go Cheryl Bombshell!

Images courtesy of The CW

We don’t get any further mention of Minerva, but I’m sure we’ll see that in the later episodes. Although, I really want Choni to mend things.

2

“Sometimes a story is just a story.”

Sure, but sometimes a story can be the key to some other phenomenon and Jughead is clearly obsessed with discovering the truth behind these alien Moth Man claims. Jughead reads a story from one of his students named Lerman which seems to point directly to a possible encounter with the Moth Man.

Images courtesy of The CW

Jughead goes a little too far to get the truth and Lerman’s parents are very upset along with the principal. Later on, we get a Bughead team-up (loved this) to uncover the truth and learn that there may be a connection between Lerman and the missing girls since he lives by the Lonely Highway, but Lerman takes off and leaves town with his parents before they can really get any concrete answers.

1

“I’ll be damned if I let it happen to anyone else.”

Poor, Betty. She gets a phone call from her FBI friend/boyfriend Glen who tells her that the blood found was a match for Polly’s. It’s not 100 percent certain, but it’s fairly likely that Polly is gone.

Betty goes to Cheryl for advice because she wonders if knowing the truth is actually better in this situation and goes against her better judgment and lies to her mother.

Betty’s rage/darkness re-emerges later on as she begins striking her own form of justice into the creepy truckers on the highway. Betty kicks them all out of their trucks and tells them to leave.

Things go too far when she drags the man they spoke to before into the woods and almost shoots him, but Jughead calls her in the nick of time.

As much as I love seeing Betty kick some ass, when did she become Buffy the Vampire Slayer overnight? You would think that one of these guys might be able to overpower her, but they somehow just take it?

Anyway, Betty returns home later and finds her mother in tears. Glen is there and says he is taking over the investigation. Alice is very upset that Betty kept this news from her, but this really made me start to wonder about Glen’s involvement.

I don’t think he can be trusted at all and while he may not be our killer, there’s something certainly off about him.

Meanwhile, I really enjoyed seeing the sleuth team-up again between Bughead and while I don’t think they should jump back into a romantic relationship like over-eager Varchie, their friendship is a strong one and I think they can both help each other through this.

I also am still convinced that Polly is actually alive and maybe she wasn’t taken by the trucker killer, but by whoever this “Moth Man” mystery man or woman is. I’m still piecing together a few theories, but I don’t want to commit to her being dead just yet.

Stay tuned, Riverdale fans!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 5 Episode 1: “Climax”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s Riverdale season 5 episode 1 season premiere, we were reminded how quickly life on Riverdale can turn into a Jamie Lee Curtis movie…

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Chapter Seventy-Seven: Climax,” everyone gets ready to attend the prom, but is this the end for some of our favorite couples? Meanwhile, the videotape killers continue to wreak havoc while Betty and Jughead try to get to the bottom of everything.

My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 5 episode 1 are:

5

“I’m beating it.”

I think it’s worth mentioning that Hiram Lodge is now suddenly getting better because he is beating up everyone in town. Veronica calls the doctors to confirm, but we know it’s only a matter of time before Hiram sinks his teeth into some other dark scandal.

4

“So you’re my competition.”

After the cancellation of Katy Keene, we knew we would be seeing some of the characters from that spin-off show pop up in Riverdale and K.O. Kelly is the first one. Veronica suggests that they have an exhibition boxing match so that Archie can prove his worth to the navy scout.

Archie and KO Riverdale

Images courtesy of The CW

Archie really puts up a fight and he may have actually been the winner in my book, but K.O. takes the victory and Archie has a fit, saying he won’t apply in the future.

I think Archie needs to find his true calling before he spins out of control…

3

“This one’s for you Archiekins.”

Poor Veronica. After finding a song that Archie wrote, he throws it in the trash and tells her that it is no good, but of course we know that she is going to get up on stage and perform the song that he actually wrote for Betty to make things extremely awkward for everyone.

Riverdale Veronica Lodge season 5 episode 1

Images courtesy of The CW

Betty and Archie exchange a few glances and ultimately, Archie breaks up with Veronica at prom. He tells her about the kiss, but they decide not to tell Jughead, but it looks like Varchie will be heading in different directions after graduation.

I have a feeling that Hiram is going to take away that “deputy mayor” offer pretty quickly…watch out, Archie!

While I’m sad about this break-up, I think that Archie really needs to find out who he is without someone. Maybe he needs another spiritual road-trip or something…

2

“Was there ever any doubt?”

Varchie is not the only couple to have some major obstacles to get through during prom. We start off with some cute and hilarious moments with Choni, as they petition to be co-queens of prom.

They have my vote for sure!

Later on, Cheryl asks about meeting Toni’s grandmother and is upset to find out that she has to pretend that she is not her girlfriend. Cheryl takes things into her own hands and goes to see Toni’s grandmother, which leads to more drama.

We find out that Toni’s grandmother doesn’t want her dating Cheryl because she is a Blossom and they have wronged their family for too many years.

Choni Riverdale season 5 episode 1

Images courtesy of The CW

Toni is able to show up to prom with Cheryl and we watch them become prom queens, but the moment is short-lived.

Toni tells Cheryl to give her some time, but Cheryl broke my heart when she was crying in Nana Rose’s lap, explaining that she is destined to be alone.

I really hope that Cheryl and Toni find a way back together, but if I’m being honest, they needed this. There hasn’t really been a lot going on in their relationship lately and perhaps this will allow them both to grow as characters and I’m hoping that they can find a way back to each other.

All hail, Choni!

1

“To surviving this town…”

While all this drama is going on, we also get Betty and Jughead teaming up to bring down the videotape killer or killers. They even go to visit Bret in jail to get some intel and are told to make a snuff movie, allowing us to witness Cheryl and Reggie show off some of their acting skills. Loved the wig, Cheryl!

Riverdale season 5 episode 1

Images courtesy of The CW

David at Blue Velvet Video knows that it is a fake, but Betty turns over the tape of her father when he was a young boy and says he is the Black Hood. They get the invite they have been looking for and end up crossing paths with Jellybean (what?) while trying to figure out who the director behind the curtain is.

During prom, the music is cut short and we witness another film where masked strangers are murdering Dave, proving it is not him. I have to say that these killers have been giving me some Purge vibes and I want to know more.

Archie gets a video at his doorstep and it looks like this is going to unlock even more rage inside of him so we’ll have to see how this plays out.

Overall, the season 5 premiere felt slightly chaotic and all over the place. I realize this episode was actually supposed to be part of season 4 before shooting was put on hold because of the pandemic, but I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and I’m hoping we can put some of the drama aside and focus on the mystery at hand.

I did love seeing everyone dressed up for prom and Betty’s dress was my favorite! But, do you think Jughead could have taken off his hat just this once?

Stay tuned, Riverdale fans!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 4 Episode 18: “Dear Diary”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s Riverdale season 4 episode 18, we took a trip down memory lane, as Betty remembered what it felt like to fall in love with the boy next door. But sometimes that love is just a fantasy and what’s really important is what has been in front of you the entire time.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Chapter Seventy-Five: Lynchian,” Barchie contemplates taking their feelings to the next level, but will they follow through? Meanwhile, Jughead continues to investigate the creepy VHS tapes and a new suspect is revealed.

My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 4 episode 18 are:

5

“I want in…”

Apparently we are running out of story ideas for Reggie, as he tells Kevin and Fangs that he wants in on their tickle operation. I honestly forgot about this plot, but Kevin agrees and Reggie is ready to prove his worth in this…endurance sport?

Riverdale 4 18 1 The CW
Images courtesy of The CW

Things get complicated when Reggie convinces Kevin to cut out Terry so that they can run their own operation and keep all the profits, which leads to an interesting Vixens/Bulldogs tickle extravaganza, but Terry shows off just how terrifying he can be.

Did you guys really think he would sit there quietly why you stole his idea and kept the profits?

4

“Veronica Lodge and Cheryl Blossom do not back down from a fight.”

Inspiring words for sure, but Veronica may be in over her head here. After she begins to corner the college market with their maple rum, a local family warns her that she is cutting into their business.

The Malloy family trashes the place after they leave and Hiram decides to pay one of them a visit. He doesn’t shoot him and ends up getting badly beaten, but I’m not sure that Daddy Dearest has changed as much as you think, Veronica.

Cheryl wants out of the business and Veronica is proud of her father. Only we cut to a scene where Hiram goes back and kills Mr. Malloy.

Did he just start another feud in Riverdale? Has he just endangered his family even more? We’ll have to wait and see…

3

“You’ll find what you’re looking for…”

Charles and Jughead are still on the case, determined to find out who is behind the creepy VHS tapes. Ethel Muggs seems to be the prime suspect, but Jughead has his doubts. After looking into things further, Jughead has a theory that perhaps they are looking for a filmmaker.

Riverdale 4 18 2 The CW
Images courtesy of The CW

They head to a 24 hour old video store, which features the “Scarlet Suite.” It is a back room that has different VHS tapes that have been traded or dropped off. Jughead and Betty’s “Ponytail Playmate” was there along with a video of Mr. Blossom killing Jason.

After Ethel explains that she kept the sex tape to prevent anyone else from seeing it, Jughead rules her out, but it looks like this secret room has been inspiring some ill thoughts for quite a while.

2

“Why are we here?”

A fair question for sure, as Betty and Archie start to truly think about what their lives would be like if they were together. Betty and Archie both admit to being in love with their current partners, but they also feel this magnetic connection toward one another.

Betty reads through her old diary and Archie writes a song, but after some wise words from Cheryl, Betty realizes that perhaps they just feel safe with one another because everything is changing.

Riverdale 4 18 3 The CW
Images courtesy of The CW

They agree to put a pause on these feelings so it looks like Barchie may be off the table…for now.

But with all these secret videos, it may only be a matter of time before some of their secret kisses are shown to Jughead and Veronica. Let’s hope no one gets hurt…

1

“It’s probably for the best…”

After Terry informs Mr. Honey about the tickle fight, he shows just how much of a nemesis he can be. Only, it may not be all talk. At the end of the episode, Cheryl receives a video similar to Jughead’s. People in masks mock the Cliff/Jason video and we see Mr. Honey at the video store.

We know that Mr. Honey and Cheryl have been clashing for a while, but is he the one behind the tapes? It’s looking that way, but we know that there’s always another twist around the corner in Riverdale…

Either way, it looks like Mr. Honey may be far from sweet, but is he a match for our favorite characters in Riverdale?

Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 4 Episode 16: “The Locked Room”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s Riverdale season 4 episode 16, we were reminded that faking your own death is no simple task. Illusions can certainly take a toll, but is it all worth it in the end to solve the perfect murder?

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Chapter Seventy-Three: The Locked Room,” Jughead and Betty are determined to wrap up the case once and for all. The mystery is solved, but there may be a few loose ends left after all…

My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 4 episode 16 are:

5

“Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”

Jughead Jones channels his very own Mark Twain, revealing that he is actually alive to the Stonewall Prep cronies and Mr. DuPont. He’s not holding anything back anymore and he and Betty lock everyone in the room together, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery before they open the doors again.

Riverdale The CW 1
Images courtesy of The CW

We certainly get a lot of reveals jam-packed into this episode. We discover that the goal was to execute the perfect murder against him so that one of his classmates could obtain the contract to the Baxter Brother series.

Mr. Chipping’s role comes into play as we learn that Moose was the original target, but Mr. Chipping decided to get him out of there before anything happened to him. This is not the first time this formula of perfect murder has been put into place, as we learn that every single ghost writer for the Baxter Brothers series went through something similar and of course they are ready to lawyer up.

Our “friendly neighborhood doctor of death” played his part to make it look like Jughead was dead, which is something I had predicted earlier on so I was happy to confirm this theory.

As the pieces all come together, Bughead is ready to serve some justice. You should really never mess with the ultimate dynamic duo…

4

“Let’s loop back to the original sin.”

Good idea, Jughead! Even though the Stonewall Prep cronies are responsible for Jughead’s attempted murder, Mr. DuPont is far from innocent. We learn that he murdered his three classmates and made their deaths all look like accidents.

Any time someone got close to the truth, he took them out of his way. We learn that Jughead was brought into the mix because Mr. DuPont was trying to lure out his grandfather, Forsythe, to really tie up all loose ends.

Riverdale The CW 2
Images courtesy of The CW

Well, Forsythe is “live and in the flesh,” as he shows up with FP to confront Mr. DuPont. It’s certainly over for Mr. DuPont, but he decides to jump out of the window to commit suicide rather than deal with the consequences of his own actions.

Seriously, they must fix that window a lot…

3

“The counter to your counter.”

Bret doesn’t seem too worried, ready to take a deal and lawyer up to protect himself, but Charles has another idea in mind. He leaves the room while FP and Jughead take over, serpent style.

Bret is beaten into a confession and it looks like he finally got what he deserved. This guy was asking for a punch every single time he opened his mouth.

So long, Bret! Hope to see you never!

2

“You wanted revenge.”

Even though Bret is beyond annoying, the real mastermind of the group has always been Donna. Our girl Betty pays Donna a visit, revealing that Donna’s grandmother was Jane Dallas Brown, one of the original classmates murdered by Mr. DuPont. In addition, we discover that Mr. DuPont stole the idea of Tracy True from her, explaining why Donna wanted to take over the series so much.

Donna initially doesn’t seem threatened by Betty, but Betty promises to leak this story to everyone if she doesn’t back down from the contract. After all, she can link this “entire web of death” back to her.

Tracy deserves better! Go Betty!

“Your secret’s safe with me.”

Even though the mystery is solved, Cheryl takes a moment to point out that the kiss between Betty and Archie looked pretty real. Betty assures her that it was all an act, but perhaps there was an unforeseen consequence to all of this.

Is there hope for Barchie or will Bughead continue to thrive?

We’ll have to stay tuned to find out. The drama now moves toward the new variety show, as Archie decides to make another vow or toast to the group. Let’s see how this one works out…

New episodes return April 8th! Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 4 Episode 15: “Murder in a Small Town”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s Riverdale season 4 episode 15, we were reminded that “Life’s not an Agatha Christie novel, it’s a lot messier.” Although I certainly can’t get enough of this small town mystery drama.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Chapter Seventy-Two: To Die For,” Betty, Archie, and Veronica finally allow themselves a chance to grieve, but it doesn’t help that they are being framed for the murder of their best friend. Meanwhile, Cheryl reaches out to Betty, Alice films a documentary, and Bret and Donna make their next move.

My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 4 episode 15 are:

5

“Don’t let them drown you.”

Cheryl is no stranger to family tragedy and decides to reach out to Betty to show her support. Although when it comes to Jughead’s untimely death, she just seems genuinely sorry about calling him a hobo…

Cheryl tells Betty that she knows what it feels like to lose her better half and explains that she will keep her on constant suicide watch, but Betty is not really sure she wants Cheryl tagging along.

4

“I cannot wait to find out….”

Hermosa is not about to stay quiet after finding out that Veronica is under investigation. She does some digging of her own and finally meets Archie. Although perhaps she should really consider knocking next time…

Veronica does not seem threatened by Hermosa and it looks like her skills will come in handy later on when Hermosa does some digging on Donna and Bret.

Welcome to the team, Hermosa!

3

“There’s no way out of this for you.”

FP refuses to take a break until he finds out what happened to his son and follows up on an anonymous tip that leads him to Donna’s dorm room. He finds Jughead’s tie pin, but Donna puts on the water works and says that they were afraid of Betty. This leads to the flashback we previously saw of Betty, Archie, and Veronica being arrested for the “cold blooded murder” of Jughead.

Betty keeps her cool and reminds her friends that this was their move. Donna continues to threaten Betty even though she is shaking in her own boots, especially when a funeral service is held to honor and mourn Jughead.

Donna seems convinced that this is all some kind of “elaborate ruse” and rumors quickly begin to spread about Jughead actually being alive, but it doesn’t look like they are going to get a chance to open up that coffin.

2

“Destroyer of end games.”

Betty finally takes a moment to break down and truly grieve over Jughead, but this leads her right into the arms of Archie, as we witness a kiss between these two. Of course Cheryl manages to capture this on camera and the whole school is talking about it.

Veronica is outraged by the betrayal and Kevin takes a few hilarious minutes to discuss the Barchie and Bughead ship followings.

We later discover that this was all part of the plan to throw Donna and Bret off. Veronica was in on everything and although it was fake, it does stir up some old feelings, even though both Betty and Archie swear that there is nothing there anymore…

1

“But it worked.”

After Donna barges into the bunker to find Betty and Archie together, she really loses her cool. We don’t have to wait too much longer for the big reveal as we discover that Jughead is actually alive and was hiding under a cot in the bunker.

I can’t say that I am that surprised as I predicted this from the start, but I am very happy to see that our main character is all right. Phew!

So, now of course the question is why?

Apparently the blow to the head was not enough to kill him and Betty can only pin the “attempted murder” of Jughead on the Stonewall Prep cronies if she forces them to crack. Betty knits Jughead a new beanie and we learn that many of the parents were in on the ruse, but there is still this new mystery behind Donna, as Hermosa digs up something interesting on her.

Jughead says that this is their “smoking gun,” but what did they discover?

Is there a new connection to Mr. Chipping or Mr. DuPont or is it something else?

Stay tuned!

My performance of the week ending 2/29/20 on TV goes to…

Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper on The CW’s Riverdale.

I never get tired of watching my girl Betty Cooper stand her ground and fight for the ones she loves. She’s relentless, courageous, smart, and the one person I want in my corner if I ever get stuck in some kind of small town mystery drama.

**Please note some spoilers are ahead if you are not caught up on the series.**

When I think about some of my all-time favorite shows on television, I think about my favorite characters and how much they have impacted me. Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers, Holly Marie Combs as Piper Halliwell, and Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen come to mind. I can certainly add Lili Reinhart to this growing list now, as she continues to impress me again and again with her brilliant and inspiring performances.

Betty Cooper has always been my character to root for against all odds and she is certainly in a tough spot right now, but she can use all the support she can get!

This is not the first time I have highlighted Reinhart’s performance as Betty Cooper and sometimes I feel like giving her the spotlight every single week because she deserves it. After watching season 4, episodes 13 and 14, there have been a lot of reveals and Betty is doing her best to bring down the annoying cronies from Stonewall Prep to clear her name and get justice for her beloved Jughead.

You would think that Betty might be feeling defeated or overwhelmed and yet she is somehow channeling all of her inner strength to keep fighting, refusing to give up. The Stonewall Prep cronies may be smart, but we know that Betty Cooper is way smarter and she will outmaneuver them somehow.

Donna better watch her back because the daughter of the Black Hood is coming for her. As Betty said, she is the “ultimate wild card” and my hero. Betty may be far from perfect and perhaps she takes things too far sometimes, but she has a big heart and is extremely loyal.

Betty can run circles around the adults in town and I know that she is about to channel her Carrie Mathison like theories to get to the bottom of everything, but I’m still hoping that we can somehow get a Bughead happily ever after.

What’s next for Betty? Well, quite a lot actually. Even though Betty has just set several pieces in motion, she now needs to sit back and wait for the Stonewall Prep cronies to make their next move. I’m confident that Betty will find a way to bring them to justice, but let’s hope that Archie and Veronica continue to have her back.

Charles seems to be an ally for now, but we know that he has a lot of secrets as well after visiting Chic in jail, so our girl needs to be extra cautious. Either way, I can’t wait to find out what happens next and I know that Betty will continue to light a fire until she can get to the truth.

Watch out Quill & Skull…Betty Cooper is coming for you!

Stay tuned for a recognized performance on TV each week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 4 Episode 14: “How to Get Away With Murder”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s Riverdale season 4 episode 14, it finally happened, but “the thing about murder” is you “gotta have the stomach for it.”

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Chapter Seventy-One: How to Get Away With Murder,” Betty, Archie, and Veronica deal with the aftermath of that horrific night in the woods. Meanwhile, Betty works with Charles to bring Donna and Bret to justice, but have they been outmatched?

My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 4 episode 14 are:

5

“Toga party, strip poker, and skinny dipping…”

Perhaps Betty, Veronica, and Archie should have gotten their stories straight after walking in the door a little past 3am in only their underwear. It’s clear that everyone is traumatized by what has happened, but what they do next is extremely important.

Charles is already playing a vital role here, which begs the question, is this all some kind of an elaborate hoax to bring down Quill & Skull?

4

“There’s only so much pretending I can do.”

Meanwhile, Veronica is dealing with her own issues at home when her father wants the family to look over the changes to his will. Veronica doesn’t want any part of this and refuses to give up on her father, but he asks her to try and get along with Hermosa.

Veronica agrees, but it doesn’t look like Hermosa is going to play fair here. Can she really be trusted?

It doesn’t seem likely and I have a feeling that she is the one who leaked information to Veronica’s college about her Maple Club business after being burned by her and Choni.

3

“They’re smart. We just have to be smarter.

Betty is dealing with a lot, but luckily she has Charles and her friends to back her up. I’m not sure that she has even fully processed what has happened with Jughead, as she is now focusing all of her energy on bringing the real killers to justice.

Riverdale The CW 6

After Betty and Charles’s plan to bug Stonewall Prep gets shut down, they realize that they should stop playing defense. Betty realizes that they need to come up with something that will completely shock their enemy, but is she taking things too far?

Is she using this mission to shield herself from the reality that Jughead is gone? I’m not sure, but I did enjoy seeing Archie punch Bret in the face…go Archie!

2

“We need to know the truth.

Even though Archie and Veronica are on Betty’s side, they begin to have some doubts as well, especially since Betty was holding a bloody rock and can’t remember what happened. This is the not the first time Betty has had some kind of a violent outburst or blackout so they want to make sure they know all the facts.

Charles hypnotizes Betty again so they can find out the trigger word, but we discover that Donna actually blew some kind of white powder in her face called the “Devil’s Breath,” which can result in short-term memory loss.

Charles thinks that it is doubtful that Betty could have killed Jughead in this kind of state, but we still don’t know what happened exactly. Little by little, we are inching closer to the truth, but I’m all for exonerating Betty.

1

“You’re gonna regret ever meeting me.

We also learn that it was Betty’s idea to have FP find Jughead’s body, hoping that this is the unpredictable move that will really throw Bret and Donna off their game. We get another flash of Betty and FP looking at Jughead’s body and it is Jughead’s face, but I’m still trying to piece together a theory that he is still alive somehow.

Why was Betty so insistent on FP being the one to find him? Is it because he is part of the inner circle of trust and could identity the body without being questioned? I still am wondering if that morgue guy is making it look like Jughead is dead, but honestly I don’t know at this point.

It just seems like everyone is handling Jughead’s death a little too well and even Archie says he has to tell his mother something, which makes me wonder if he is bringing her into the circle of trust now as well?

Either way, we still get this incredible moment where Betty meets Donna in the woods.

Riverdale The CW 4

She stands up to her and reminds her that she is the “ultimate wild card” and that she is going to take Donna down with her. Donna should be scared at this point because no one messes with our girl Betty Cooper or her beloved Jughead Jones!

Stay tuned!
