Spoiler-Free Review of “Dexter: Resurrection” Season 2 Premiere on Showtime: I Can’t Get Enough of Dexter Morgan!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Killing is a strange way to live…”

Dexter: Resurrection season two premiered on October 30th 2026 with its first episode available to stream on Paramount+ with Showtime. There will be ten episodes in total. The show stars Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, James Remar, Desmond Harrington, Brian Cox, and Dan Stevens. Each episode runs for approximately 52-55 minutes.

Dexter: Resurrection (season 2) is the continuation of the sequel to Dexter: New Blood, following up with Dexter after taking out Leon Prater. He continues his path in New York City while his son joins the police force. Only now he realizes he may be facing a midlife crisis as a serial killer.

Here is the trailer:

Dexter: Resurrection season 2 starts off strong with a promising premiere. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Picks up right where it left off.

Well, not exactly right where we left off but the momentum was there and I thought the pacing was terrific in the opening episode. I really enjoyed the first season of Dexter: Resurrection way more than New Blood or the prequel series and I think that season two is off to a fantastic start.

I didn’t re-watch the first season but the recap and micro flashbacks did enough to hook me right back into the story in a seamless way. I’m excited to see where this season goes and Michael C. Hall was as brilliant as ever!

New players in town.

I am a big fan of Dan Stevens and was so excited to see him in this. Once he put on those glasses, I was transported right back to his role in Abigail. Swoon! I think he will make a fantastic antagonist for Dexter. The NYC scenery is still working and I’m also excited to see some familiar faces as well. It looks like Detective Quinn is back in action as well.

The Cons:

Weekly episodes.

Once again we need to wait each week for a new episode. I’m fine with this, but I’m also really into the show again so this is a slight bummer because I want more already. The pacing has been on point so hopefully the season won’t lose any steam as the weekly episodes continue.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Dexter: Resurrection season 2 starts off strong with familiar faces and some terrific new guest stars to spice things up. I’m excited to see this story continue for the rest of the season.
