Spoiler-Free Review of “Bone Lake” on Demand: A Bloody, Satisfying Thriller!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“They trusted each other more than they trusted themselves…”

Bone Lake released in the US on October 3rd 2025 in select theaters and is now available to stream on demand as of October 24th 2025. The horror mystery film stars Maddie Hasson, Marco Pigossi, Andra Nechita and Alex Roe. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-four minutes.

Diego and Sage arrive at a rental estate on the lake for a romantic vacation, but their plans are interrupted when another couple arrives, claiming that they booked the house for the same exact weekend, which leads to a deadly game of betrayal and secrets between both couples.

Here is the trailer:

Bone Lake was an unexpected surprise, creating an erotic and dangerous game of cat-and-mouse to indulge in. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Bleecker Street

A gorgeous cast with a juicy and twisted premise.

I was so excited to watch this movie when I first saw the trailer. It seemed right up my alley. It screamed with guilty pleasure thrills and sinister potential. Sign me up!

This film was very pretty to look at from the setting to the hot cast, hiding its dark secrets beneath the surface. I loved the slow burn approach and felt so much chemistry between these characters. There were even some dark comedy vibes sprinkled in, which worked in the film’s favor.

Images courtesy of Bleecker Street

Brilliant final act!

I love it when a slow burn can pay off like this. Wow! The third act of this movie was INSANE in the best way possible. I was already thoroughly enjoying my watch, but this was such an unexpected surprise and I loved every bloody second of it!

This just became one of my favorite thrillers and I plan on watching it again and again.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Bleecker Street

Sluggish pacing at first.

I still was invested in what was going on, but be prepared for a lot of fluff and build up in the first half of this film after that killer opening. The character interactions still moved the film along, but it does take a drastic turn in the second half, so if you’re thinking of tuning out, I’d recommend sticking around for that. Just be aware that this is very much a slow burn.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Bleecker Street

I’m in!!!

Bone Lake is a fantastic mash-up of Speak No Evil, The Rental, and A Perfect Getaway with its twisty premise and INSANE final act, making it a welcomed addition to the vacation gone wrong genre.

This movie DELIVERED and then some! One of my favorite films of the year!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Bone Lake in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Miller’s Girl” on Demand: Over-Complicated Erotic Thriller

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

Writing is my means of escape…”

Miller’s Girl is an erotic-thriller film that released on February 16th on demand. It previously had a theatrical release on January 26th 2024. It stars Jenna Ortega, Martin Freeman, Gideon Adlon, and Bashir Salahuddin. The film runs for an hour and thirty-three minutes.

A creative writing assignment leads to unexpected results between a teacher and his talented student.

Here is the trailer:

Miller’s Girl has two talented leads and an edgy enough premise, but does it have enough going on to be worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Lionsgate Films

Two solid performances.

Jenna Ortega and Gideon Adlon were both fantastic in this and elevated this film as much as they could. While I wouldn’t have necessarily cast them in roles like this, I thought they defied expectations and really held their own with what they were given.

Images courtesy of Lionsgate Films

Decent enough setting and premise.

I actually really liked the southern feel and charm within this film. Some of the “dream-like” sequences felt almost like works of art. Everything was well shot and I think this complimented the wordy narrations throughout the film.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Lionsgate Films

Super slow and boring.

Like, painfully so! The pacing really didn’t work for me. Everything felt sluggish and dragged out and the thrills were really hard to uncover. I think this film could have benefited from some camp and Lifetime-esque insanity similar to The Crush. Sure, films like that are cheesy and ridiculous, but at least they are entertaining.

This film just felt too serious and icky and I think it thought it was a lot edgier than it actually was…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Lionsgate Films

I’m 50/50 on this one…

I thought both actresses did a great job, but I’m still not sure of this film’s actual overall intention. I think it tried to do a little too much when it could have just indulged in some guilty pleasure camp to liven things up…

Either way, if you’re a fan of Jenna Ortega, her performance is note-worthy.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Miller’s Girl in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Fair Play” on Netflix: The Danger of Mixing Business with Pleasure

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“You’re everything to me…”

Fair Play premiered on Netflix on October 6th 2023. The erotic thriller-drama stars Phoebe Dynevor, Alden Ehrenreich, Eddie Marsan, and Rich Sommer. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty-five minutes.

A promotion at a competitive hedge fund puts unnecessary stress on a newly engaged couple, who insist on keeping their relationship a secret at work.

Here is the trailer:

Fair Play takes us into this disturbing corporate world, showing us just how ruthless people can be when it comes to money and power. Is this one worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Not what I was expecting…but consuming all the same.

When a film is billed as an erotic thriller, I expect some juicy scenes and some silly nonsense in-between that make for a good guilty pleasure watch. This film was not that. Sure, there were sex scenes, but most of them felt very uncomfortable to watch.

That being said, this film took an intriguing look into the pressures of trying to make it in business. Greed, power, and the obsession with success can damage everything and everyone else around us and I thought this was a compelling watch for the most part.

Images courtesy of Netflix

Chilling performances.

Both of our leads did an extraordinary job with what they were given. I thought that they both managed to capture my full attention in different ways and they elevated a lot of scenes with their delivery.

The supporting characters felt mostly filler to me, but I think that was sort of the point.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

A depressing play for power.

I much preferred the seductive play for control in the recent film, Sanctuary. Fair Play lacked that finesse and depicted a battle to be on top that was filled with desperation. You really have to be in the right mood to watch this film because it will leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth.

I also think this film went on for a little too long. It really only needed an hour and thirty minutes tops…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in about 75 percent…

A brutal, dark, and uncomfortable watch.

This film wasn’t what I thought it would be, but it did keep me invested until the end.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Fair Play in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Sanctuary” on Demand: Margaret Qualley is Flawless

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I know everything about you…”

Sanctuary released in limited theaters on May 19th 2023 and is now currently available to stream on demand as of June 20th 2023. The erotic-psychological thriller film stars Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-seven minutes.

After taking over his father’s business, Hal attempts to end his relationship with a dominatrix named Rebecca, but an argument between them escalates into a battle for true control.

Here is the trailer:

Sanctuary is unique and dangerous in an unconventional way featuring an exceptionally brilliant performance by its leading lady. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Neon

Margaret Qualley shines!

Wow she was absolutely breathtaking in this film! Her performance was unhinged and electric in all the right ways. She stole the film and then some. I loved the different take on the cat-and-mouse formula. This is one of those films that could fail miserably without strong performances and she made sure that wouldn’t happen. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. She was that good!

Images courtesy of Neon

A unique concept.

At one point Hal talks about how this isn’t the 90’s and in a lot of ways, this film reminded me of those dark and steamy guilty pleasure thrillers from that decade. I actually love those erotic thrillers and I thought this film did a great job of honoring that genre while still carving its way into the new generation with provocative and sometimes extreme content that wasn’t afraid to reach new limits.

I’m all for a film trying something new and different and I applaud the effort and execution.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Neon

Trippy camera effects.

I liked the overall visual feel of the film and I think it complimented the subject matter well, but some of the chaotic camera movements felt unnatural and slightly distracting. I was very focused on what was transpiring between these two characters so these camera enhancements seemed unnecessary, but I think that comes down to preference.

There were some pacing issues throughout the film and I had mixed thoughts on the ending. It was perfectly fine, but I guess I was looking for something a slight more shocking since there was so much built up before this. I’m sure viewers will have mixed views on this, however.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Neon

I’m in about 75 percent…

I’m in for Margaret Qualley and I appreciate that this film tried to do something different and edgy, but the pacing needed some work and I guess I wanted a little bit more of an explosive ending to really seal the deal.

Keep in mind that this is not your average thriller. It takes a different approach that may seem like a simple conversation at times between two parties, but it does branch out into some moments of pure brilliance worth experiencing.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Sanctuary in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Follow Her” on Demand: Clever Cat-and-Mouse Thriller

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“If her character dies, she dies…”

Follow Her released on demand on June 2nd 2023. The erotic-thriller-horror film stars Dani Barker, Luke Cook, and Mark Moses. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty minutes.

An aspiring actress and live streamer named Jess responds to a job to help write an erotic thriller screenplay in a remote location, but things take a twisted turn when she ends up caught in the middle of the creator’s quest for revenge.

Here is the trailer:

Follow Her is a solid mix of Cam and Fresh, presenting us with a smart and entertaining erotic thriller that has plenty of twists and turns. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Quiver Distribution

Killer performances.

In particular, Luke Cook was out of this world as Tom! There weren’t too many characters in this one so our two main leads needed to steal the show and they did so with flair. It was fun seeing where the twists went and I really thought both actors did their part and then some.

Smart take on the social media genre…

I recently enjoyed Influencer for the same reason, but I have to give it up to Follow Her as well. This movie took a real look at the dangers and problems with live streaming and social media. I love that they didn’t hold back, making the shocking moments that much more petrifying since I could see some of this actually happening in real life.

This film nailed the vibe it was going for and that last half hour was incredible!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Quiver Distribution

Takes a little while to kick into high gear…

The pacing was a little sluggish in the beginning. I was interested, but my attention was fading slightly until we got to the final act. There wasn’t too much set-up but I do think that we could have moved things along a little quicker once Jess arrived at the house. The fetish stuff was a bit silly, but it made sense with Jess’s line of work so I’ll go with it.

The twists were also a little outrageous, but still fun overall. I’m all for a film taking a risk and I didn’t mind them, but they did disrupt the overall tone of the movie slightly and felt a little abrupt. That being said, they weren’t predictable so this wasn’t a major con.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Quiver Distribution

I’m in!!!

Follow Her is satisfying in all the right ways with plenty of twists to keep you hooked until the very end.

I really enjoy smart and self-aware horror films and I think that Follow Her checked off all the boxes I was looking for and then some.

I’d absolutely recommend a watch if you’re a horror fan!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Follow Her in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Fatal Attraction” on Paramount+: Less than Sizzling…

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“I chose to lose control…”

Fatal Attraction is a new erotic thriller series based on the iconic film of the same name. It released on April 30th 2023 with the first three episodes available to stream now. There will be eight episodes in total that will air weekly. The series stars Joshua Jackson, Lizzy Caplan, Amanda Peet, and Alyssa Jirrels. Each episode runs for approximately 53-59 minutes.

A toxic affair damages the family and reputation of Dan Gallagher in this re-imagining of the 1987 film.

Here is the trailer:

Fatal Attraction attempts to provide some layers and background for these familiar characters, but does it translate well on the small screen? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Paramount+

Solid cast.

Joshua Jackson is no stranger to steamy love affairs and played one of my favorite characters on Showtime’s The Affair and Lizzy Caplan starred in Masters of Sex…so these two seem perfect to get this erotic thriller off and running. I like both of them as actors individually and they were the main reason why I tuned in. I’m a fan of the original film and I don’t think that anyone can come close to those performances, but it certainly helped having some familiar faces on the screen.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Paramount+

Slow, dull, and NO chemistry!

Where do I start? The episodes were on the long side already and I felt like it took three hours just to get through one. The pilot was excruciatingly slow and boring. We randomly skip back and forth between timelines and I was so confused at times.

While I like both Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan, I just didn’t feel the chemistry between them. It felt so formulaic and forced. There was no charge between them. It just felt like two actors going through the motions.

I’m sure the series will pick up, but I’m already so bored out of my mind and I feel like I honestly wasted my time with this one.

This film should have been left alone and I don’t think that the series is doing anything that new or unique even though it promises to.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Paramount+

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…

Not everything needs a re-imagining or remake and this is the perfect example. I’d recommend re-watching the film instead.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Obsession” on Netflix: An Erotic Thriller with a lot of intense staring…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I’d love for you both to get to know each other…”

Obsession premiered on Netflix on April 13th 2023. The UK erotic thriller series features four episodes available to stream now. It stars Richard Armitage, Charlie Murphy, and Indira Varma. Each episode runs for approximately 38-42 minutes.

A surgeon’s affair with his son’s fiancée turns into an infatuation with irreversible consequences.

Here is the trailer:

Obsession has a promising premise with a familiar leading man, but does it do enough to set itself from other erotic thrillers that have followed a similar formula? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Obsession 2023 no spoilers

Images courtesy of Netflix

A quick watch.

The limited series only has four episodes, which made it very easy to binge-watch in one sitting. The episodes were on the shorter side as well and the pacing was decent enough. There’s a lot of fluff to sit through, but at least it didn’t drag things out for too long…

Richard Armitage.

He’s the only reason why I tuned into this one and I love him in the Harlan Coben thrillers so I was hoping for the best here, but I’m not sure he got to reach his full potential in this particular series. That being said, his presence alone made this watch a little more bearable.

The Cons:

Obsession 2023 no spoilers 1

Images courtesy of Netflix

Weird/crazy laughable moments…

This series isn’t meant to be a comedy and yet I found myself laughing out loud at some of these manic looks between our two main characters. I get that the series was trying to create an erotic thriller based on the balance of control but this was just too over-the-top.

The series didn’t really have many “thrilling” moments either. Sure, we eventually get to a shocking moment, but by that time I was completely bored out of my skull.

There’s sex galore in this one, but the plot just felt really dry and bland. I just couldn’t get into it, which was disappointing.

So am I in or out?

Obsession 2023 no spoilers 3

Images courtesy of Netflix

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…

Obsession doesn’t take as many risks as it should have with the plot, which made this a disappointing and boring watch overall.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Into the Deep” on Demand: Modern day “Dead Calm” has some Potential

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Welcome aboard…”

Into the Deep released on demand on August 26th 2022. The erotic thriller film stars Ella Rae-Smith, Matthew Daddario, and Jessica Alexander. It runs for approximately 90 minutes.

Jess meets a handsome stranger and agrees to spend the evening on his boat, but things take a dangerous turn when she wakes up with him in the middle of the ocean as a stranger comes onboard.

Here is the trailer:

Into the Deep possesses the formula to become a solid guilty pleasure thriller, but does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Sky Cinema

Addicting premise.

This movie had a fantastic setting and a chilling and addicting premise. I was all in and ready to see what horrific things would unfold. There’s just something so frightening about being trapped in the middle of nowhere. Dead Calm nailed that feeling many years ago and I really liked that this film channeled that vibe.

A mystery that kept me guessing.

I honestly couldn’t figure out who was lying and I thought this worked to the film’s advantage. There was evidence against all parties involved, but the audience really had to make their own guesses, which made this more of an involved watch. I was pulled in the entire time and I had to know what would happen next.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Sky Cinema

Needed some more suspense built in…

Even though I really enjoyed the mystery, I wanted some more intense moments built in to really keep me on the edge of my seat. We had some sprinkles of it toward the end, but I kind of wanted to feel my heart beat a little more during this one.

I also thought that Jess made some really poor decisions and I wanted the trauma involving her past to be explored just a little bit more.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Sky Cinema

I’m in about 75 percent…

If you’re looking for a weekend guilty pleasure thriller, this one checks off plenty of boxes. I really liked the mystery, but I just wanted a few more outrageous and thrilling moments to really seal the deal.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Into the Deep in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Deep Water” on Hulu: Erotic Thriller has its moments

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Do you know I love you?”

Deep Water premiered on March 18th 2022 on Hulu. Based on the novel of the same name, the erotic thriller stars Ben Affleck, Ana de Armas, Finn Wittrock and Lil Rel Howery. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty-five minutes.

A husband allows his wife to have affairs, but winds up being the prime suspect when her lovers suddenly go missing…

Here is the trailer:

Deep Water is brought to us from the same director of Fatal Attraction and Unfaithful, attempting to find another Gone Girl gem, but does this film do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Hulu

Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck are magnetic on screen.

I really like Ana de Armas as an actress and she can play crazy really well. I thought both actors did a good job with their portrayals. Both characters were far from normal and yet they still had a lot of chemistry between them, which made the film more entertaining.

Picks up steam as things progress.

The movie was a little on the long side for me. Normally I expect these soapy erotic thrillers to run around 90 minutes, but once the plot started to advance, things got really intense and the scenes leading up to the ending had me on the edge of my seat.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Hulu

Tries too hard to be the next Gone Girl

Even though Ben Affleck did a good job in this, I couldn’t get this comparison out of my head and even though the films are very different, it felt like it was trying to live up to this hype. I also was looking for a crazy twist or reveal to really make my head spin and things played out in a predictable way for the most part.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Hulu

I’m in about 75 percent…

If you like soapy-Lifetime-esque thrillers, you’ll enjoy this one on a rainy Saturday evening. There are some intense moments embedded into this film that were actually done really well, but I wanted a little bit more overall. Either way, it was an enjoyable watch for the most part.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Deep Water in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Girl Before” on HBO Max: Erotic Thriller that will keep you Guessing

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“It feels like it’s waiting for someone…”

The Girl Before originally premiered back in December 2021 on BBC One, but released on HBO Max on February 10th 2022. The limited series based on the book of the same name stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessica Plummer, David Oyelowo and Ben Hardy. There are four episodes in total, which are all available to stream on HBO Max. Each episode runs for approximately 58-60 minutes.

A woman moves into a modern day dream home with an interesting set of rules, as she soon begins to unlock secrets from the past that may put her life in immediate danger.

Here is the trailer:

The Girl Before presents us with a stunning setting and a thrilling mystery that will keep you guessing. Is it worthy of your next binge-watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of HBO Max

An apartment to die for…

I love when a mystery/thriller series has a setting that is just as interesting and layered as the characters. The modern apartment is stunning and sleek, but it has so many interesting features and rules, which really helped generate such an unsettling vibe throughout the series.

Images courtesy of HBO Max

Believable performances.

I thought that Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jessica Plummer were both so electric on screen. I felt their pain and rooted for them whenever possible. They portrayed real women in a type of thriller that didn’t stray too much from the ordinary, which made this series that much more horrifying and powerful for me.

Unpredictable.

Just when I thought I had everything figured out, this show threw me for a complete loop in the best possible way. If you’re looking for a steamy thriller that you can easily binge-watch, you’re in the right place.

I also really loved the way the story unfolded between the past and the present, which is not always easy to nail. This can sometimes become confusing, but the different timelines worked seamlessly, luring me in that much more.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of HBO Max

Pacing issues at times…

The show took a little while to get going for me and had some pacing issues here and there. After a while, I was completely hooked, but I’m wondering if this might have been better suited as a movie to remove some of the excess fluff.

That being said, I think the pace picks up enough to make this very easy to binge-watch over the weekend.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of HBO Max

I’m in!

If you’re looking for your next guilty-pleasure thriller, you’ve found it! The past and present story-lines centered around the stunning piece of architecture are really intriguing and there are plenty of moments and reveals that will shock you in the best possible way.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Girl Before in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
