Spoiler-Free Review of “MATCH” on Tubi: A Wild Ride!

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Internet dating can be brutal…”

MATCH released on October 3rd 2025 on Tubi. The horror thriller film stars Humberly González, Shaeane Jimenez, Dianne Simpson, Nikita Faber and Luke Volker. It runs for an hour and thirty-eight minutes.

Paola agrees to meet her online date at his house, but when she arrives she finds herself caught up in a twisted game of cat and mouse instead.

Here is the trailer:

MATCH is the latest horror film to take a stab at the horrors of online dating, but it manages to give us a fresh take with some sickening and shocking moments. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Gets right to the point.

This film could have easily bored us with some unnecessary fluff and set-up, but instead it pulled us into a shocking nightmare right away, which I appreciated. I thought the overall pacing was solid and there were plenty of unexpected twists and turns to keep me invested until the very end.

Characters to root for.

I really liked all of the characters in this (even the side characters) and was rooting for them all. Dianne Simpson was absolutely terrifying in her role. She really went all out and it paid off, elevating this twisted film that much more.

The Cons:

Gross and disturbing.

The shock value was definitely there and if you like extreme gross-out moments, there’s plenty of that. I appreciate that they really pushed the envelope here, but there were quite a few scenes that had me beyond nauseous. Seriously sick on another level…

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

MATCH gives us plenty of stomach-turning horror in this surprisingly well-paced and outrageous film.

This was an unexpected surprise and I actually really enjoyed my watch.

I think this would make a fantastic double feature with FRESH.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on MATCH in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Follow Her” on Demand: Clever Cat-and-Mouse Thriller

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“If her character dies, she dies…”

Follow Her released on demand on June 2nd 2023. The erotic-thriller-horror film stars Dani Barker, Luke Cook, and Mark Moses. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty minutes.

An aspiring actress and live streamer named Jess responds to a job to help write an erotic thriller screenplay in a remote location, but things take a twisted turn when she ends up caught in the middle of the creator’s quest for revenge.

Here is the trailer:

Follow Her is a solid mix of Cam and Fresh, presenting us with a smart and entertaining erotic thriller that has plenty of twists and turns. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Killer performances.

In particular, Luke Cook was out of this world as Tom! There weren’t too many characters in this one so our two main leads needed to steal the show and they did so with flair. It was fun seeing where the twists went and I really thought both actors did their part and then some.

Smart take on the social media genre…

I recently enjoyed Influencer for the same reason, but I have to give it up to Follow Her as well. This movie took a real look at the dangers and problems with live streaming and social media. I love that they didn’t hold back, making the shocking moments that much more petrifying since I could see some of this actually happening in real life.

This film nailed the vibe it was going for and that last half hour was incredible!

The Cons:

Takes a little while to kick into high gear…

The pacing was a little sluggish in the beginning. I was interested, but my attention was fading slightly until we got to the final act. There wasn’t too much set-up but I do think that we could have moved things along a little quicker once Jess arrived at the house. The fetish stuff was a bit silly, but it made sense with Jess’s line of work so I’ll go with it.

The twists were also a little outrageous, but still fun overall. I’m all for a film taking a risk and I didn’t mind them, but they did disrupt the overall tone of the movie slightly and felt a little abrupt. That being said, they weren’t predictable so this wasn’t a major con.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Follow Her is satisfying in all the right ways with plenty of twists to keep you hooked until the very end.

I really enjoy smart and self-aware horror films and I think that Follow Her checked off all the boxes I was looking for and then some.

I’d absolutely recommend a watch if you’re a horror fan!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Follow Her in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

My Top 10 Films of 2022 are:

The Fallout

Beautiful, touching, and gripping from start to finish. Jenna Ortega was an unstoppable force in 2022 and she really showed off a different side of her in The Fallout.

9

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Hilarious, entertaining, and a blast to watch, featuring a dynamic duo worth getting excited about. This movie was really unique as well and Nicolas Cage proved once again why he is absolutely brilliant.

A modern version of Wait Until Dark that was so suspenseful from start to finish. Our two main leads were incredible on screen and there were plenty of twists and turns that had my adrenaline pumping.

7

Scream (2022)

Scream (1996) happens to be my favorite movie of all time so I had mixed expectations going into the new film. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It did a fantastic job of providing fans of the original with plenty of nostalgia while still keeping things fresh and new with lots of bloody kills and shocking reveals along the way.

6

Fresh

The date movie from hell! Twisted, deliciously dark, and bold! I loved this film from start to finish. Our two main leads were electric on screen and that ending still replays in my mind from time to time.

5

Fall

A chilling thriller that kept me off even the smallest step ladder for quite a while. This film was meant to be watched on the big screen. It was so intense and brutal with a shocking twist I never saw coming.

4

Prey

A prequel done right with an electric female lead! Plus, I loved her furry sidekick! This film was so well done and such a pleasant surprise.

3

The Black Phone

One of the best horror films I have seen in a long time. Ethan Hawke was such a terrifying villain. There were so many elements in this one that had me completely immersed in the outcome.

2

X

Sex, drugs, and gore galore. This film pushed so many boundaries in the best possible way. It was bloody fantastic to watch on screen with characters to root for and some seriously twisted moments.

Honorable Mentions:

The Wonder

No Exit

Thirteen Lives

Barbarian

Drum roll please…

1

The Menu

Deliciously twisted and so entertaining! Anya Taylor-Joy does it again! Last Night in Soho was my number one pick of 2021 and I have to crown this queen again in The Menu. This film had the perfect blend of horror comedy and intense thrills. I am beyond excited that it will be releasing on HBO Max in January so I can watch it again and again!

I hope to see more films from 2022 soon, but I hope you enjoyed the list!

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Prime Video

Fast-paced and unpredictable!

This movie was so entertaining and fast-paced. There was barely any set-up at all. It got right into things and kept the intensity going with every scene. I didn’t see the twists and reveals coming. Some of them were a little insane, but I embraced them and just went with it, which made this so much fun to watch!

Images courtesy of Prime Video

Killer premise with a strong female lead.

I absolutely loved the premise of this movie. In a lot of ways, it reminded me of a mix between Ready or Not and Fresh. Our female lead was incredible and it was very easy to root for her. She was inventive and bad-ass!

I loved our villain as well and there were plenty of other characters with lots of potential too.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Prime Video

Some unanswered questions…

Since we got several twists thrown our way, I was left with a lot of unanswered questions by the time we got to the end. There was just a lot jam-packed into this movie and I think a few things could have been fleshed out more.

So am I in or out?

Spoiler-Free Review of “Where the Crawdads Sing” in Theaters: Beautiful and Emotional

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“The swamp knows all about death…”

Where the Crawdads Sing released in theaters on July 15th 2022. The mystery drama film (based on the book of the same name) stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Taylor John Smith, Harris Dickinson, David Strathairn, Garret Dillahunt, and Sterling Macer Jr. It runs for two hours and five minutes.

Kya grows up alone in the marshlands of North Carolina during the 50’s and 60’s after being abandoned by her family. Years later, she is accused of murdering a boy she was romantically involved with.

Here is the trailer:

Where the Crawdads Sing transports its audience into a beautiful setting with deep, dark secrets, as it weaves together a story of heartbreak, love, and deception. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Beautifully shot.

This movie was so gorgeous to watch. The setting was incredible and I loved the use of color. Everything was just so vivid and clear. Since the setting was such an integral part of this story, it made sense to make it stand out as the star and I think it really pulled the audience in to this secret world tucked away from the rest of society.

Daisy Edgar-Jones is mesmerizing on screen.

I absolutely loved her in the film Fresh and she delivered in this film as well. This was such an eccentric and unique character and I think that her portrayal was truly moving. She captured my attention the entire time. I’m looking forward to seeing her in more films because she is very talented.

A mystery that pulls you in with an ending I didn’t see coming…

I did not read the book prior to watching this film so I went into it with no real expectations. I thought the mystery was solid and the ending really threw me for a loop in the best possible way. There will be no spoilers in this review, but wow!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Sony Pictures Entertainment

Glosses over details I wanted to know more about.

I know it’s not easy adapting a book into a film, but I thought that certain characters and timelines felt rushed. Just when I started to really connect with the young Kya story-line, we were pulled right back into the present day one.

I also wanted to know more about some of the other characters in Kya’s life (including the two love interests). I didn’t need this film to be much longer than it was, but I thought that some of these details were necessary so that we could connect with Kya’s story even more.

Even though I didn’t read the book, I would have liked to have also seen the more wild side of the swamp. Everything was just so gorgeous and serene and I’m sure that the darker parts were explored more in the novel. I’m also not really sure how Kya got such a beautiful wardrobe when she was basically a recluse, but I’ll just go with it…

So am I in or out?

Beautiful, moving, and shocking in the best way possible!

I really enjoyed my watch and I definitely recommend that you give this film a chance because it has a lot going for it.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Fresh” on Hulu: The Dating Scene just got even more terrifying…

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“I didn’t think people met people in real life anymore…”

Fresh released on March 4th 2022 on Hulu. The horror thriller film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sebastian Stan, Jonica T. Gibbs and Dayo Okeniyi. It runs for an hour and fifty-four minutes.

Noa is frustrated with the virtual dating scene and is surprised when she meets a cute stranger at the grocery store. After hitting it off with him rather quickly, she agrees to go on a weekend trip with him, only to discover that he has something else in mind.

Here is the trailer:

Fresh finds the right balance between horror and dark comedy to really make this one stand out. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Hulu

Draws you in right away…

As soon as I pressed play on this one I was completely hooked. I connected with the character and thought the setup was interesting and relevant in today’s world. As the true intention of the movie became apparent, I was completely glued to the screen and I couldn’t look away…even though things transformed into something beyond horrifying.

Images courtesy of Hulu

Dark humor and charm.

I personally loved the use of dark humor and charm in this one. There were a lot of really disturbing moments so this helped balance things out in a good way. The film had an American Psycho sort of vibe with some sprinkles of You as well.

Truly terrifying…

This film really scared me in a lot of ways because it’s something that could actually happen and it makes you really think about the world we live in and the strangers we come across each and every day. As a warning, this film is not for those with a weak stomach. There were a lot of cringe-worthy moments that made me lose my own appetite.

And yet I still couldn’t look away…

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Hulu

Some unanswered questions…

There were some plot-holes in this one and I was left with a few questions after everything was said and done. That being said, there were plenty of twists and reveals that were very well done.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Stomach-turning horror balanced out with charm and dark humor. Hulu is really delivering with its latest horror-thriller films. This film was really unique and terrifying with a fantastic cast. More please!
