Spoiler-Free Review of “Intimacy” on Netflix: A Relevant Thriller

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Everything starts with a decision…”

Intimacy (Intimidad) released on June 10th 2022 on Netflix with eight episodes available to stream now. The Spanish thriller-drama series stars Itziar Ituño, Patricia López, Ana Wagener, and Yune Nogueiras. Each episode runs for approximately 46-48 minutes.

A politician’s career is ruined when a recorded video of her sex life is leaked to the public.

Here is the trailer:

Intimacy will remind you of shows like The Undoing and Anatomy of a Scandal, but it also has an important message of its own, creating a gripping story involving four women and what happens to them when their right to privacy is violated. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

A relevant and important message.

The world has changed a lot and now it’s incredibly easy for someone’s right to privacy to be violated. The click of a button could damage someone’s reputation, career, and relationships. It’s something that one can never escape and it happens way too often. I thought the series really highlighted this well and highlighted a fear that is based very much in reality, which made this a compelling watch.

Moving performances.

The women really stole the show in this series and I thought that all of them told their own unique story in an effective way. The performances were very believable and emotional.

The Cons:

Too many episodes…

This series should have been 4-6 episodes at most. I thought it really dragged things out and the pacing suffered as a result. The topic was interesting and the performances were solid, but it took me a while to get through this one and I think it lost a little bit of steam as it continued.

So am I in or out?

I’m in about 75 percent…

Intimacy highlights a relevant issue and the consequences surrounding it, which makes it a gripping watch, but it went on for a little bit too long, so don’t expect to be able to binge-watch this one that easily.
