Spoiler-Free Review of “Forbidden Fruits” in Theaters: A Juicy, Witchy Treat!

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Being a witch is being a sister…”

Forbidden Fruits premiered in select theaters on March 27th 2026. The horror fantasy comedy film stars Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, and Gabrielle Union. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-three minutes.

At the Free Eden mall shop, Apple runs a coven with the other female employees, but when a new hire threatens her control over the sisterhood, tensions begin to flare.

Here is the trailer:

Forbidden Fruits has a cheeky premise with sprinkles of gory charm mixed in for good measure, making this a bewitching watch from start to finish. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Stacked cast!

When I initially saw the cast for this film, I knew it would be something special. I was right. This cast delivered in all the right ways. Lili Reinhart was out of this world! Dark Betty was at her peak! Seriously, please start putting her in more movies. She is an underrated force that deserves to flourish in film.

Victoria Pedretti was a lot of fun as well. I’ve never seen her in a role like this before so it was great seeing her range. Her quirky charm really worked well here, clashing with Regina George-esque, Apple.

Oh and make sure you stick around for the end credit scene to see an icon show up!

Understood the assignment.

This film didn’t take itself too seriously. It embraced some camp and just went all out with its silly, but very entertaining plot. I loved the vibe of this film. As a fan of movies like The Craft, Jawbreaker, and Mean Girls, this film embraced that vibe with style, but also found its own voice.

The fashion was on point (especially Lili Reinhart’s wardrobe) and everything felt so nostalgic and cozy with its mall setting. It’s like this movie was made for me and I enjoyed every moment of it.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Shudder

Needed to dip a little bit more into the witchy side.

Don’t get me wrong…I absolutely adored this movie. However, I think it could have benefited from just a touch more ritual and magic, but that’s only because I was thoroughly enjoying being immersed into this world and I wanted more. When I got to the end of the movie, I was already ready for a sequel.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Shudder

I’m in 100 percent!

Forbidden Fruits is the perfect addition to the girly horror genre. Think Mean Girls meets The Craft with a delicious attitude of its own.

This film may not be for everyone, but I had the best time watching it and it is already one of my favorite films of the year.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Forbidden Fruits in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Agatha All Along” on Disney+: A Wickedly Delightful Spin-Off!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Is this really how you see yourself?”

Agatha All Along premiered on Disney+ on September 18th 2024 with the first two episodes available to stream now. There will be nine episodes in total that will air weekly. The spin-off mini series stars Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, and Joe Locke. Each episode runs for approximately 42-45 minutes.

Set after the events of WandaVision, Agatha Harkness recruits an unlikely coven to help her gain her powers back.

Here is the trailer:

Agatha All Along is off to a fantastic start as it puts Agatha in the spotlight, allowing her to truly shine. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Disney+

Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza are fantastic!

I was so excited when I originally heard that Aubrey Plaza had signed on to this series and she is electric on screen so far. Kathryn Hahn’s dark humor is really working as well, but these two ladies have a lot of chemistry together and I can’t wait to see the rest of the episodes unfold.

The rest of the cast has a lot of potential too and it was nice seeing some familiar faces from WandaVision.

Images courtesy of Disney+

A worthy series about witches!

I haven’t been this excited about a series about witches since Chilling Adventures of Sabrina first aired. It’s one of my favorite genres and already this series is excelling in this category. It’s magically captivating and this coven looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. I also like that the series isn’t taking itself too seriously. It’s dipping into a lot of dark, dry humor that is really making this a blast to watch.

It’s difficult for a spin-off series to excel so quickly, but Agatha All Along is managing to do so. It’s recognizing where it came from, but it’s also branching out into an intriguing story worth exploring and I can’t wait to find out happens next!

I also loved those end credits paying tribute to so many famous witches over the years!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Disney+

I don’t have any…

Honestly, I’m loving this series so far. The only con is that I have to wait each week for a new episode. I think it will be worth the wait though!

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Disney+

I’m in 100 percent!!!

Agatha All Along is everything I could have hoped for and more!

It’s safe to say that I will be tuning in for the rest of the episodes!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Agatha All Along in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Perpetrator” on Shudder: What did I just watch?

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“I don’t know what to do with her…”

Perpetrator released on Shudder on September 1st 2023. The supernatural horror film stars Alicia Silverstone, Chris Lowell, Kiah McKirnan, and Melanie Liburd. It runs for approximately an hour and forty minutes.

Jonny is sent to live with her aunt right before her 18th birthday, triggering a bewitching transformation that allows her to help find a group of missing girls in her town.

Here is the trailer:

Perpetrator had plenty of bewitching ingredients, but its slow pace and trippy weirdness made this one difficult to enjoy. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Shudder

An eerie premise.

I was actually pretty excited to watch this one. I loved the concept and I’m all for a feminist witchy movie featuring a decent enough mystery at its core. This movie should have been a slam dunk based off of the premise, but it never quite executed things in an effective way.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Shudder

Underwhelming performances…

I expect a lot more from Alicia Silverstone. She’s the main reason why I tuned in for this one and while I felt comforted by her mere presence, her performance seemed really odd. It almost felt like she was over-acting in certain scenes.

Chris Lowell didn’t get too much to do and our main lead was pretty bland. I honestly didn’t care about what happened to her, which didn’t help matters.

Super dull with no real direction.

This one was painfully slow and really confusing. It didn’t follow a logical sequence of events. Rather, it felt more like it mashed together a series of ideas and prayed that the audience wouldn’t notice? I felt like I was watching this one forever even though the runtime was standard. So disappointing…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Shudder

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…

Boring, pointless, and really disappointing.

Shudder has been missing the mark lately. The last few original movies I have watched have been painfully awful.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Perpetrator in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Hocus Pocus 2” on Disney+: The Witches are Back!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

Beware the black flame candle….

Hocus Pocus 2 released exclusively on Disney+ on September 30th 2022. The sequel to the cult Halloween classic stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, Doug Jones, Sam Richardson, and Tony Hale. It runs for approximately an hour and forty-five minutes.

When Becca and Izzy accidentally light the black flame candle, they re-summon the Sanderson sisters back to the town of Salem.

Here is the trailer:

Hocus Pocus 2 brings plenty of nostalgia for fans of the original film with a few new tricks up its sleeve. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Disney+

They still got it!

The original film premiered in 1993 so it’s been quite a while since we last saw the Sanderson sisters. I’m happy to report that these three still have it and then some! They were so much fun to watch on screen with delightful chemistry. It’s like they never left! There are plenty of new obstacles to get in their way and distract them, but whenever these three step on screen, they’ll put a spell on you for sure!

The new characters had their charms as well. I particular liked Tony Hale as the mayor, who added some quirky fun and Doug Jones continued to be a scene stealer in this film!

Images courtesy of Disney+

Lots of Easter eggs and nostalgia for fans of the original.

I personally really enjoyed the Easter eggs in the sequel. It channeled the vibe of the original film but it also found a new voice and story of its own. I was worried that things would feel redundant, but the new spin kept things fresh enough to keep me entertained until the end.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Disney+

Doesn’t hold a candle to the original…

Let’s be honest, it never was going to live up to the original film. I think it put forth a valiant effort with the nostalgia, but since it leaned on that quite a bit, I would have enjoyed seeing a few other familiar characters pop up in town.

Even though I enjoyed the new characters, they didn’t get the chance to truly shine or reach their full potential.

The musical numbers were fun, but they didn’t have the same punch this time around either.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Disney+

I’m in!!!

A fun sequel with plenty of bewitching moments featuring our beloved Sanderson sisters.

The original film is one of my favorite movies, but I think that the sequel did a decent enough job after all this time.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Hocus Pocus 2 in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “A Discovery of Witches” Season 3 on Shudder: All things must come to an end…

**This is a spoiler-free review for season 3 so feel free to read on!**

“Welcome home…”

A Discovery of Witches season 3 premiered on Sky TV, Sundance Now, Shudder, and AMC plus on January 8th 2022 with the first episode available to stream now. There will be seven episodes in total that will air weekly. The series stars Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode, Malin Buska, and Owen Teale. Each episode runs for approximately 45-50 minutes.

Picking up right where we left off at the end of season two, A Discovery of Witches season 3 will be the final season of the series, mirroring the All Souls Trilogy books. Diana Bishop and Matthew return to present day, as they prepare for a final battle with Peter Knox.

Here is the trailer:

A Discovery of Witches season 3 has a lot to jam-pack into the final season to stay true to the book series as we root for Diana and Matthew against all odds. Will it end the series on a high note? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

A Discovery of Witches spoiler free 1

Images courtesy of Shudder

Keeps things short…

I think it’s really smart that this is going to be the final season of the show. There are three books in the series and even though many other shows have gone on for several other seasons past the books, sometimes this can be a mistake. I think the series has been really strong so far and this allows the writers to end things the way they want to.

Better pacing.

My only con throughout the seasons has been the pacing. Things can drag here and there, but I think that season 3 is already off to a much better start in terms of this. Since there is so much to squeeze into the final season, we aren’t wasting any time and we are jumping right into things. Let’s keep this going!

The Cons:

A Discovery of Witches season 3 spoiler free 2

Images courtesy of Shudder

A lot to remember.

I really should have re-watched the first two seasons or re-read the books again because there is SO MUCH to remember. This isn’t necessarily a con but I feel like I need a cheat sheet to keep up at times. You may want to at least watch a full recap before jumping into season 3.

So am I in or out?

A Discovery of Witches season 3 spoiler free 3

I’m in!

I simply adore the book series and I have been a fan of the show so far. I really can’t wait to see how things unfold for the final season! Diana has so much left to show us and I honestly can’t wait!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Just Beyond” on Disney+: Kid Friendly Horror Comedy

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“What is this place?”

Just Beyond is a new horror comedy anthology series inspired by the works of R.L. Stine. The series premiered on October 13th 2021 on Disney+ with all eight episodes available to stream now. Just Beyond stars McKenna Grace, Lexi Underwood, Cedric Joe, Henry Thomas and Nasim Pedrad. Each episode runs for approximately 25-30 minutes.

Each episode explores a different phenomenon as our characters are immersed into a world filled with aliens, witches and ghosts.

Here is the trailer:

Just Beyond attempts to bring us more kids friendly horror with some fun and spooky premises, but does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Disney+

Stand-out episodes.

I really loved episodes one and four in particular. Each episode had its own unique story, but I almost thought some of these episodes could have actually branched off into their own shows. They were really intriguing and I loved the characters!

They also found just the right balance of creepy fun for both kids and adults.

A new entry for kids horror.

Kids horror has been releasing some solid entries lately and I liked that this series took a different approach. The series could have easily attempted to channel Goosebumps or even the new Are You Afraid of the Dark? reboot, but the horror comedy angle was different and I think it worked in a lot of ways.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Disney+

A disconnect at times and slightly repetitive.

Since I really liked some episodes more than others, it was difficult binge-watching all of the episodes in this anthology series because it lost some of its magic with each episode.

I also thought that a lot of the themes were similar and maybe this show would have benefited from releasing its episodes weekly to prevent things from becoming too stale.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Disney+

I’m in about 75 percent…

This series is fun for the whole family (although you probably want to monitor the content of each episode for your kids) and it gave us another welcomed entry into the kids horror genre.

Overall, it was a fun watch with lots of potential.

Spoiler-Free Review of “A Discovery of Witches” Season 2 on Shudder: Let’s do the Time Walk again

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Wherever they are, they can’t stay gone forever…”

A Discovery of Witches season 2 premiered on Sky TV, Sundance Now, Shudder, and AMC plus on January 8th 2021 with the first episode available to stream now. There will be ten episodes in total that will air weekly. The series stars Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode, Malin Buska, and Owen Teale. Each episode runs for approximately 45 minutes.

Picking up right where we left off at the end of season one, A Discovery of Witches season 2 seems to be following the second book in the All Souls Trilogy series. Diana Bishop is a witch and a time walker, which allows her and Matthew the chance to travel back in time to find the lost text that everyone is desperate to get their hands on.

Here is the trailer:

A Discovery of Witches season 2 has the opportunity to really pick things up, but it looks like the plot may be straying slightly off course from the beloved book series. Will it measure up? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

A Discovery of Witches Diana Bishop

Images courtesy of Shudder

Visually stunning and gorgeous costumes.

The change in time and scenery really helped this show stand out visually. I almost felt like I was watching several paintings come to life through each transition and it looks like Teresa Palmer will be getting quite the wardrobe while stuck in the late 1500’s.

Intriguing plot.

The second book of the series is my favorite so I am very excited to see how the show measures up. So far the premiere is off to a good start, leaving us with a cliffhanger ending and some dark theories potentially tainting the love between Diana and Matthew. Deborah Harkness has posted that there will be some differences between the book and the show, which could be a very good thing. I often like to see a good balance between the two and so far the show has been succeeding with this.

The Cons:

A Discovery of Witches season 2

Images courtesy of Shudder

Slow pacing.

Much like the first season, the second season is already moving at a slower pace. This isn’t necessarily a con because I think it has a Gothic romance type of feel in many parts, but I’m ready for Diana to unleash some crazy power already. We have a ways to go with season two and I’m hoping we will reach that point, but I don’t want the episodes to feel overly long at only 45 minutes each.

So am I in or out?

A Discovery of Witches season 2 2

Images courtesy of Shudder

I’m in!

I am a devoted fan to this book series and I was satisfied with season one. I’m looking forward to the change in time and scenery for season 2 and I am confident that we will see Diana start to tap into more abilities to liven things up.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on A Discovery of Witches (season 2) in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” Part 4 on Netflix: Ends the Way it Should

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Cheerleader by day…Queen of Hell by night.”

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina part 4 premiered on Netflix on December 31st 2020 with eight final episodes available to stream now. The series stars Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, and Miranda Otto. Each episode runs for approximately 55 minutes.

It was bitter sweet to discover that this would be the final season of the bewitching darker take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I was worried that the show would not be able to wrap everything up to our satisfaction. Either way, I knew we would be jam-packed with dark spells, rituals, and sacrifice along the way for Sabrina Spellman and the rest of our beloved characters.

Here is the trailer:

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 4 packs a punch with a dark and twisted new threat on Greendale, but is eight episodes truly enough to give this show a proper conclusion? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

CAOS part 4 1

Darker with sci-fi horror.

While the earlier seasons of CAOS dipped into more of a bubble gum pop type of horror, the final season doesn’t hold anything back. There is more gore and more stomach-turning moments which actually had me cringing on more than one occasion. It helped that we got several well-placed mentions of classic movies like Alien and The Evil Dead thrown in for good measure, but I was pleasantly surprised by this darker turn, which worked in the show’s favor.

CAOS part 4 2

Images courtesy of Netflix

Supporting characters get to shine.

We’ve been getting hints along the way about Rosalind’s potential and we finally devote some time to her character, along with several others. While we couldn’t spend too much time on everyone, I thought that the show made a valiant effort to allow each and every character and every relationship a chance at some type of closure or growth.

Cameos done to perfection in episode 7.

There will be no spoilers in this review, but I am sure you are already aware of the cameos that will appear in the final season. That being said, I was really happy with episode 7 and I thought that the way everything done was beyond brilliant. They could have easily gone down a cheesier, quicker route and instead they presented us with something truly unique that kept the plot going.

The Cons:

CAOS part 4 3

Images courtesy of Netflix

Rushed and slightly chaotic.

I get it. There was a lot to cover in just eight episodes, but there was so much overstuffed into this season. I appreciate that the writers were trying to tie up loose ends, but I also thought that some moments of fluff were pointless because the plot was actually really good and captivating on its own.

I also thought that the second half of part 4 was much stronger than the first half.

So am I in or out?

CAOS part 4 4

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in!

I am a huge fan of this series and I thought that the writers really tried their best to give this show a proper sendoff. There were moments that had me terrified, laughing, and crying my eyes out, but I am satisfied with the conclusion and after so many letdowns this past year from series finales, CAOS earned my respect by sticking to a proper conclusion.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (part 4) in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Craft: Legacy” The weirdos are back…sorta

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Air, fire, water, earth…”

Blumhouse’s The Craft: Legacy premiered on Demand on October 28th 2020. The film stars Cailee Spaeny, Zoey Luna, Lovie Simone, David Duchovny, and Michelle Monaghan. It is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes long.

Based on the original film, The Craft (1996), The Craft: Legacy follows Lily, who moves in with her mom’s new boyfriend and his family. After getting off to a rough start as the outsider in school, she meets three girls who have been practicing witchcraft.

Here is the trailer:

The Craft happens to be one of my favorite films of all time.

The Craft

However, I went into this watch with an open mind, but it’s not easy channeling the cult classic that made us all want to be “the weirdos” playing light as a feather, stiff as a board. The Craft has paved the way for shows like Charmed and others, but a fresh take on the film could be promising. Let’s find out if it can stand on its own merit…

The Pros:

The Craft Legacy

Images courtesy of Blumhouse Productions

Fun tributes and throwbacks to the original with a cameo worth waiting for.

I was a little worried about this, but I thought the film did a good job of throwing in some welcomed throwbacks to the original film without overdoing it. We got a classic line thrown our way, an epic cameo, and some familiar spells and rituals.

New spells and story to spice things up.

The reboot has the formula to pretty much replicate the original film, but we did get some twists thrown in and some new spells as well.

The Cons:

The Craft Legacy 2

Images courtesy of Blumhouse Productions

No layers to our new four.

Part of the reason why the original film worked so well is we got to peel back the layers for every member of the coven. It helped us connect to them more and it also really emphasized the “personal gain” or consequences of magic aspect that much more.

Magic is fun, but it can be deadly and I was missing the connection to every single character in this film. Why do we care about them? Do I really care if the coven splits up?

Questions like this continued to come up and I was disappointed because the formula was there, but the effort was not demonstrated.

Forcing the female empowerment angle.

Much like the new Black Christmas (2019) film, The Craft: Legacy hits us over the head with female empowerment vs. uninspiring and played out misogyny. I was expecting a lot more here.

So am I in or out?

The Craft Sarah

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…

The film is not bad at all. In fact, you can watch it and be somewhat entertained. However, it just pales in comparison to the original film. It doesn’t do anything really unique or different for the new generation. While there are glimmers of potential sprinkled in, they fade rather quickly. Other than the cameo at the end, I was pretty disappointed overall.

If you are looking for a newer version of The Craft, I recommend watching the series, Light as a Feather on Hulu instead.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Craft: Legacy in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” Part 3 on Netflix: Spellbinding Perfection

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Here’s to Sabrina Spellman!  Cheerleader by day, Queen of Hell by Night!”

Hell looks good on our girl Sabrina Spellman, played brilliantly again by Kiernan Shipka.

In the midst of all of the dark and twisted spell-casting, there is still room for some fun bubble gum pop moments featuring cheerleading, Riverdale Easter Eggs, and romance.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 premiered on Netflix on January 24th 2020 with 8 new episodes (55-60 minutes in length).  It stars Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Ross Lynch, and Michelle Gomez.

Part 3 starts off with a bang, as Sabrina is desperate to find a way into Hell to free her boyfriend, Nick.  With the help of her mortal friends, Sabrina crosses paths with some new foes along the way.  Sabrina is destined for the crown, but is quickly challenged again and again.

Her loyalties are tested, but where does her heart truly lie?

Parts 1 and 2 were absolutely fantastic, but can Part 3 measure up?  Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Netflix 3

We dive deeper into a magical world filled with history, wickedness, and mystery.

The show seamlessly submerges us into a world with dark magic wedged into every nook and cranny of history.  We learn about Dante’s Inferno, vampires, banshees, voodoo, Pagan gods, and more.  While it may initially seem like this is quite a lot to cram into 8 episodes, each adventure worked so well with the plot, luring us in that much more.

New and interesting characters.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Netflix 6

The show already has a large cast with amazing characters, but some of the new additions really added to the charm of the show.  But let’s not forget about Lilith aka Mary Wardwell, who continues to be a phenomenal scene stealer.

I also really appreciated the time spent toward developing some of the other characters, specifically Theo and Prudence.

Some of the new villains prove to be quite formidable, constantly putting our girl Sabrina Spellman to the test, which provides us with a lot of edge-of-your-seat moments and exciting twists.  More please!

Lots of fun.

Even though Sabrina is now the Queen of Hell, she still decides to try out for the cheerleading squad with Ros.  We get some fantastic musical numbers that gave me a 90’s nostalgia along with some crafty Riverdale Easter Eggs, which is known as the murder capital of the world.  Where’s vigilante Archie when you need him?

I thought that this poppy fun feel really balanced out the darker elements of the show, giving me a Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibe while still casting its way toward its own magical identity.

The Cons:

None.  Well, I guess if I need to pick something, it would be that I wanted more episodes.

Parts 1 and 2 featured 16 episodes split up into 8 at a time.  Parts 3 and 4 will follow the same format.  We will get the next 8 episodes on July 3rd 2020, which is a long time to wait to catch up with our favorite witches!

So am I in or out?

Of course I’m in…100 percent and more!  This show gets better and better.  Countdown until the next witching hour!

If you aren’t watching this show yet, I absolutely recommend it.  It is so much fun and the characters are bewitching…even without the magic.  Enjoy witches!
