“No magic is stronger than sisterhood…”

Practical Magic 2 premiered in theaters on September 10th 2026. The sequel to the 1998 film stars Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, and Lee Pace. It runs for approximately two hours and ten minutes.

The Owens family must once again fight the curse they thought they had banished years ago to protect their family.

Here is the trailer:

Practical Magic 2 transports us effortlessly back to two of our favorite witches in film, giving fans of the original plenty to be excited about while delivering with an entertaining new entry to the story. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Nostalgia intertwined perfectly with the new story.

Practical Magic is one of my favorite films of all time. The original film still warms my heart when re-watching it so many years later and I have been waiting for this sequel with anticipation. I loved the way the new film worked in the nostalgia. They could have easily beat us over the head with it, but they were very clever about the way they used it. It never felt forced. It just worked itself into the story perfectly, making this such an incredible watch for fans of the original.

If you’re craving a midnight margarita, you’re in the right place and you won’t be disappointed.

The new story is solid enough as well, focusing on Sally’s grown up daughters, which gave everything a fresh spin for anyone just being introduced to the Owens family.

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock were perfect!

The original film released in 1998 and you would think we were still there. Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock look exactly the same and easily embraced their roles as Gillian and Sally. I thought they were beyond perfect. They delivered so much in these roles and reminded me why they are two of my favorite witches of all time.

I loved the chemistry and banter between them once again and it was interesting to see how their characters have changed over the years while still managing to hold on to their quirks and charm.

The Cons:

Underused character.

Joey King was great, but I was disappointed that Maisie Williams was given so little to do…

I think they underused her. She is such a terrific actress so I was surprised by this. I didn’t need this film to be any longer than it was but there were plenty of opportunities for her to step up and do something great and that never really happened.

My other con (not a major one) is that their magic seemed more flashy this time around. I get that they now had a bigger budget and could show off some of the powers more, but I much preferred the cozy feel to spells, omens (blood on the moon), and subtle hints at magic rather than big explosions of them.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

(4.5 out of 5 stars)

Practical Magic 2 is packed with heart and spellbinding nostalgia, allowing Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman to step back into their roles seamlessly.

I laughed, I cried, and I once again found myself wanting to embrace my own inner witch. I loved this film so much. It wasn’t as good as the first film, but it really held its own, giving fans a new film to treasure for years to come.
