Ranking the top 5 moments from “The 100” season 7 episode 4: “Hesperides”

Happy Thursday TV fans! After watching The CW’s The 100 season 7 episode 4, I was reminded that fear is a factor, but you have to find a way to fight through it.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Hesperides,” Clarke and the others work together to figure out a way to save Bellamy, Octavia, and Echo from The Anomaly. Meanwhile, Raven attempts to cope with the blood on her hands and Echo makes a heartbreaking decision.

My top 5 moments from The 100 season 7 episode 4 are:

5

“Trust me. I’ve done this before.”

In the beginning of the episode, we see things from Hope’s perspective after losing both her mother, Diyoza, and Octavia. A stranger arrives near her home named Dev, but Hope initially wants nothing to do with him.

As the years go by, they continue to get closer and he teaches Hope how to fight, but his life is lost when The Anomaly opens up after Hope hesitates before killing a Disciple. It’s clear that Dev and Hope were like family to one another and perhaps something even more, but I thought this glimpse into the past really allowed us to learn more about Hope’s character.

Echo and Gabriel are looking for a way out of The Anomaly, but Hope reminds them that she’s done this before and that they will need to wait five years. Easier said than done…

4

“I can’t forget their faces.”

Meanwhile, Raven is clearly having a tough time dealing with the fresh blood on her hands after that insane radiation dilemma. Clarke reminds her not to forget about the faces she saved, but Raven has even more trouble when she has to take out some of The Disciples later on to help her friends.

We know that Raven has been through a lot over the seasons, but her moral compass is wavering back and forth now. Let’s just hope that she can get through this because we need her!

3

“Every second counts.”

Well, it pretty much always does on this show, but we start to actually connect our story-lines between Sanctum and The Anomaly, which is a good thing. But where the hell is Bellamy?

We find out that The Disciples want Clarke and that she is the key to stopping a war, but is she just a target?

Clarke is ready to sacrifice herself if needed to help her friends, but Raven discovers that The Anomaly is actually a wormhole and that they can travel to different planets with it.

2

“Plans change.”

Meanwhile, in The Anomaly, time flies by as Echo, Hope, and Gabriel work together with Disciple, Orlando, to prepare for when The Anomaly opens again. Orlando is not one of their people, but a bond forms between them all and it looks like we are witnessing a new type of family. Even Echo lets her walls down and we get to witness some bad-ass hair cuts and decorative face tattoos for the occasion.

When The Anomaly opens again, Hope doesn’t hesitate this time and ends up taking out a Disciple as Orlando screams. Echo realizes that Orlando is not one of them and will do whatever it takes to save Bellamy.

This apparently includes killing every last Disciple in front of Orlando and leaving him behind. Gabriel and Hope think that this is wrong, but Echo asks them if they want to stay or find answers.

They reluctantly follow as Orlando is betrayed by them. We know that Echo is no stranger to doing the unthinkable, but she has come so far as a character and has now gone down a familiar role of betrayal.

Will Bellamy be able to forgive her when he finds out what she has done? Will she be able to forgive herself?

My heart goes out to Echo and I have really started to fall in love with her character, but she is going down a dark road now and I’m not sure that she will be able to come back from it. Either way, this episode stirred a lot of emotions and we are only on episode 4 of the final season.

“Who wants to go for a ride?”

The Clarke we know and love is back. She’s ready to go off into the unknown to risk it all to save her friends. There she is! I’ve been waiting for Clarke to go back to her roots for the final season and it looks like we are all in for a ride.

Clarke gives everyone a choice when they open up The Anomaly and Gaia says that she will stay behind to protect Madi. Raven randomly picks a planet, hoping that they will find their friends, but we know the odds aren’t that great.

They can always find a way back…right?

Well, that may not be so easy as someone shuts down The Anomaly and attacks Gaia. Of course this happens right after a lingering goodbye between her and Clarke to make us suffer even more! Both of them are sucked into The Anomaly and now Clarke and the others are stuck on some unknown planet with no way out…

This should be interesting!

This was an emotional episode, but I’m really happy that we are finally connecting the story-lines because it was getting a little exhausting jumping back and forth between them each episode.

Let’s hope that we can catch up with Bellamy so that he can jump in to help save the day because it looks like our characters need him.

In other news, we know it’s only a matter of time before Sheidheda makes his next move as well.

May we meet again.

Stay tuned!
