Spoiler-Free Review of “The Housemaid” in Theaters: A Soapy & Campy Thriller Worth your Time!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Would you like to see what you’re getting yourself into?”

The Housemaid premiered in theaters on December 19th 2025. The mystery thriller film (based on the novel of the same name) stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar. It runs for approximately two hours and ten minutes.

Millie has a troubled past and is looking for a fresh start by interviewing for a live-in housemaid position in an extravagant home, but she soon discovers that her new bosses may be hiding deadly secrets that put her in danger.

Here is the trailer:

The Housemaid is a guilty pleasure thriller with plenty of juicy and shocking moments built in. Is it worthy of your next watchLet’s find out…

The Pros:

Sweeney and Seyfried are a dream duo!

I thought both actresses did a really great job here. Amanda Seyfried is such an exceptional actress and she really went all out here. Sweeney kept up with her as well and I loved the back-and-forth between them.

Brandon Sklenar is popping up quite a bit now in movies (It Ends With Us, Drop) and I hope to see him in more as well. His wardrobe was fantastic…among other things.

This movie was very pretty to look at from the gorgeous cast to the beautiful Long Island home they were living in. I love pleasing aesthetics like this that tend to hide something dangerous and sinister beneath them.

Entertaining reveals.

I wouldn’t say that they were that shocking. I sort of saw the main twist coming a mile away. That being said, it was still so much fun to watch unfold on screen. I had a packed audience with me in the theater and they were cheering along during certain parts, which made this a blast to watch. In a lot of ways, this felt like an elevated Lifetime movie…but that’s my favorite kind of guilty pleasure thriller so I’m not complaining here.

The ending was satisfying as well.

The Cons:

A little too long…

I was never bored, but I think things could have been wrapped up a little bit sooner. I like my movies to hover around 90 minutes or so. There were a few parts in the middle that were drawn out, but luckily things turned around for the explosive conclusion.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!!

THE HOUSEMAID is sultry, satisfying, and so much fun to indulge in.

Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried go all out here in the best possible way!

Loved it!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Immaculate” in Theaters: A New Scream Queen Emerges!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I hope you find what you’re looking for…”

Immaculate released in theaters on March 22nd 2024. The religious horror film stars Sydney Sweeney, Álvaro Morte, Simona Tabasco, and Benedetta Porcaroli. The film runs for approximately an hour and thirty minutes.

Sister Cecilia is invited to a remote convent in Italy to take her vows as a nun, but she soon discovers that there are dark and sinister secrets lurking within that put her in immediate danger.

Here is the trailer:

Immaculate explores the horrors that can exist away from the rest of the world in an extremely disturbing way. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Unsettling and horrifying moments.

There was something so utterly terrifying about the overall tone of this film. Sure, some of it was utter nonsense but it still chilled me to my core and had my skin crawling during several key moments. I left the theater in complete shock after what I had just witnessed. It was extreme, intense, and absolutely insane in the best way possible.

Sydney Sweeney proves her worth.

Wow, she was FANTASTIC in this role. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but as the film continued to build and build, her performance got stronger along with it. She poured so much into her portrayal and unleashed something spectacular. She’s an absolute star and she just carved her way into the horror genre, making this a performance to remember for sure.

More please!

The Cons:

The weak jump scares didn’t add anything…

I really hate when films do this because it disrupts the overall tone of the film. This film was already terrifying enough with its content. It didn’t need these at all to provide shock value. Trust me.

The film started off really strong, but the pacing did slow down for a while after this. This wasn’t a major con because I expected this to be a slow burn, but be prepared for some fluff to sit through before you get to the extreme insanity.

So am I in or out?

Immaculate is deeply disturbing, featuring a bloody captivating performance by Sydney Sweeney.

A twisted gem for horror fans!

DON’T TAKE THE JOB…

It was only supposed to be temporary…but when Olivia Crewe accepts a new position that seems too good to be true, she soon discovers that twelve other girls previously had the same job as her. Only none of them lasted for more than thirty days. No notice. Nothing…right before they mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Madame Web” in Theaters: Dakota Johnson Gives it Her All

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I can see the future…kind of…”

Madame Web premiered on February 14th 2024 in theaters. The superhero action film stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Adam Scott, and Emma Roberts. It runs for approximately an hour and fifty-six minutes.

After facing a near death experience, Cassandra Webb begins to show signs of clairvoyance as she realizes that it is her destiny to protect three young women from a villain connected to her past.

Here is the trailer:

Madame Web brings us another superhero film set in the Spider-Man universe, but does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Dakota Johnson puts forth a valiant effort.

Honestly, I really wish she had gotten a better film. She was the BEST part of this movie. I’ve always liked her as an actress and thought she was truly exceptional here. Even though she had to work with dull dialogue and predictable plot-lines, she really was a likable character and I think that if the focus had been more on her and her actual origin story, I may have liked this one a lot more.

The rest of the cast was full of recognizable faces to be excited about as well. I really liked Cassie’s relationship with the three girls, but I’m not sure it was fleshed out as well as it could have been. There was some serious potential here though.

The nods at the time period worked.

This film was primarily set in 2003 and the music was great and on point. I think that this film really tried to channel this time period in an authentic way. In fact, I almost fell out of my chair at one cameo scene shown later in the film. I’m still excited about it! This helped lighten things up a little bit. There were a few scenes that were actually done really well and had me excited. I just wish there were a lot more of them…

The Cons:

Messy and lacking in action…

This is billed as a superhero action film, right? Well, it needed A LOT more in that department, which was really frustrating. I thought the overall plot felt really messy…almost as if it were thrown together last minute. There were also certain moments that should have been fleshed out more so that the audience would actually invest in caring about these characters.

The dialogue was absolutely dreadful at times and the choppy editing gave me a headache. Sometimes less is more. I would have much preferred some simple fight scenes as opposed to that chaotic light show that was on display.

So am I in or out?

I’m 50/50 on this one…

I don’t think this film was as bad as everyone is saying. It wasn’t good, but I’ve seen a lot worse and there were some redeeming moments here. That being said, I’m super frustrated because this movie could have been so much better and Dakota Johnson deserved that. Either way, that cameo was still the best part of the movie for me…

Spoiler-Free Review of “Night Teeth” on Netflix: Girl Vamps Just Wanna Have Fun

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“We’re all around you…and you have no idea.”

Night Teeth premiered on Netflix on October 20th 2021. The vampire horror film stars Debby Ryan, Lucy Fry, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Alfie Allen, Sydney Sweeney and Megan Fox. It runs for an hour and forty-eight minutes.

When a young driver picks up two mysterious women, he is tasked with escorting them to a bunch of exclusive parties, but he soon realizes that they have blood-thirsty intentions, putting his life in immediate danger.

Here is the trailer:

Night Teeth immediately gives off some True Blood vibes with a killer cast, but does it do anything truly unique to set itself apart from other vampire films? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Night Teeth Spoiler Free 1

Debby Ryan and Lucy Fry make a killer team!

The whole cast did a great job, but I really liked these two. They really embraced the seductive/mysterious bad girl feel with some killer fashion as well. I was immediately intrigued when they came on screen and I thought that they put forth a valiant effort with their portrayals.

Don’t mess with these two!

Night Teeth Spoiler Free 2

Night life aesthetic and choice of soundtrack.

The lighting and colors in this film really popped. I thought that the film captured the beauty of the city after dark. The music soundtrack complimented the pace of the movie as well. This movie just felt visually pretty and appealing from start to finish.

The Cons:

Night Teeth Spoiler Free 3

Killer start but flat finish.

This film immediately drew me in and I was hoping to witness something truly unique, but things started to become flat and mediocre once we got toward the end. It was still entertaining, but it didn’t do anything original and I thought it was a little too easy to fight off the bad guys.

We didn’t learn any real information on these vampires to understand how to destroy them or get a full picture of their lives in the human world. There were just too many pieces left out.

I thought that the romance angle was okay, but it didn’t really have an organic or honest quality. It wasn’t nauseating like some vampire movies I have watched before, but I wanted to truly believe the new romance I was witnessing and it just felt very ordinary.

Frustrating montages.

While I loved the use of light and music, the overuse of slow motion montages didn’t really do anything to add to the overall movie. I would have preferred to watch more scenes featuring some of the cameos we witnessed and get some more backstory too.

So am I in or out?

Night Teeth Spoiler Free 4

I’m in about 75 percent…

This movie was entertaining overall and I’m all for any kind of vampire movie. I thought that the cast did a great job and there was enough going on to keep me invested. However, the movie just didn’t do anything that different or unique, which was frustrating, because it started off with a lot of edge and bite.

If you like vampire movies, I would recommend that you give this a try, but you may be better off binge-watching the first season of True Blood instead…

Spoiler-Free Review of “The White Lotus” on HBO Max: I’m On Vacation!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Have a nice vacation…”

The White Lotus premiered on HBO Max on July 11th 2021. All six episodes are available to stream now. The limited series stars Alexandra Daddario, Jennifer Coolidge, Steve Zahn, Jake Lacy, Murray Bartlett, Sydney Sweeney, Brittany O’Grady, and Connie Britton. Each episode runs for approximately 60 minutes.

Written and directed by Mike White, the satire-dramedy follows several people on vacation in Hawaii as they attempt to deal with their issues while interacting with the staff at the White Lotus Resort and Spa.

Here is the trailer:

The White Lotus has a fantastic cast and a good balance of dark humor and drama to make a statement, but does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of HBO Max

Exceptional characters.

I wasn’t really sure what I was going to get when I started watching this show, but I found myself really connecting to a lot of the characters. Some of them were outrageous and extreme while others were just trying to form a true sense of self-realization. None of the characters were perfect. In fact, they were all far from it and constantly making mistakes, but I thought this made this show that much more real and interesting.

Standout character for me: Paula (O’Grady).

A reveal worth waiting for.

The beginning of the series introduces a mystery, but it fades into the background for the majority of the show. However, once you get to the last two episodes, you start to piece things together as you discover everything with your own eyes, which I thought was extremely satisfying and I’m still in shock.

Images courtesy of HBO Max

Addicting with heart and humor.

There wasn’t really a lot going on in this show, but there was also SO MUCH going on when it came to the characters. When I got to the end of the first episode, I was intrigued but I didn’t really know what I was watching.

There were some moments that were really dark and dramatic and others that actually really had me laughing out loud, which created a necessary balance to keep me coming back for more. This show was more about the characters, but it also cleverly used satire to make a point about social class and how difficult it can be to accept any kind of change.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of HBO Max

Extreme at times.

I know it’s HBO, but some scenes just seemed way over-the-top and slightly unnecessary. I also think that some episodes could have been a little bit shorter to keep the pacing going.

Supporting characters needed to have more development.

I really liked so many of the characters, but I thought we spent quite a bit of time on some without really developing others that were so interesting. I realize that’s sort of the point in some ways, but I really would have liked to focus more time on them because they were a lot more interesting than some of the other plot points going on.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of HBO Max

I’m in!

This show was really unique and I think it successfully created a dialogue worth having. The characters were great and there was a steady balance of dark humor and drama going on to keep you coming back for more.

While there was a mystery lingering in the air, it took a backseat to the characters and I think that was a smart decision after watching the entire show in one day. The show was really more about the people and the decisions they made. I was left with chills at the end of the season and that ending really did shock me.

The White Lotus will be returning for season 2 but with a different cast and setting.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The White Lotus in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
