Spoiler-Free Review of “Killer Whale” on Demand: Virginia Gardner Puts Forth a Valiant Effort in this FALL Downgrade

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“She thinks she’s still trapped in captivity…”

Killer Whale released on Demand on January 16th 2026. The survival thriller film stars Virginia Gardner and Mel Jarnson. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty minutes.

Friends, Maddie and Trish go on a trip to Thailand a year after Maddie went through a tragic event, but after jet-skiing out to a remote location, they find themselves hunted by a killer whale that was released from her tank after killing someone. They are now stranded with no way to call for help and must figure out a way to survive.

Here is the trailer:

Killer Whale takes the standard shark thriller formula and tries it out with a different ocean creature, but does it do enough to be worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Virginia Gardner did what she could…

She’s just so pretty and getting really good at finding herself trapped in dangerous places with no way to call for help. I thought she was terrific in the film, FALL. In a lot of ways, this film kind of ripped that one off, but that was a MUCH better movie.

That being said, I stayed tuned in to see what would happen to her character and I thought she did a solid job with what she was given.

Unfortunately she wasn’t really given much…

The Cons:

Terrible CGI and so cheesy!

Ugh…I really wanted to like this one. The CGI was so bad, I started laughing at certain points. Everything just felt so silly and not in a good way. There weren’t any genuine moments of suspense here. I’ve seen numerous shark films and while a lot of them followed a similar formula, I still found myself on the edge of my seat during key moments.

That didn’t happen here…

We got these overdone slow motion scenes and exhausting flashbacks that really didn’t do anything to advance the plot. I was so disappointed.

Nothing new here…

In addition, this film did not stray from its formula at all. Dangerous Animals (my new favorite shark movie after Jaws) really tried to do something new with the shark genre and it worked in such a compelling and outrageous way. This film didn’t even put forth the slightest bit of effort. The plot felt so lazy and phoned in.

So am I in or out?

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…

Killer Whale doesn’t offer the audience anything new here with its vapid and lackluster story.

Virginia Gardner deserves better…

It was only supposed to be temporary…but when Olivia Crewe accepts a new position that seems too good to be true, she soon discovers that twelve other girls previously had the same job as her. Only none of them lasted for more than thirty days. No notice. Nothing…right before they mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

Spoiler-Free Review of “F Marry Kill” on Demand: Lucy Hale may be Dating a Serial Killer

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Please just murder me now…”

F Marry Kill premiered in the US on Demand on March 7th 2025. The comedy thriller film stars Lucy Hale, Virginia Gardner, Brooke Nevin, Samer Salem, and Bethany Brown. It runs for approximately an hour and thirty-seven minutes.

After ending things with her long term boyfriend, Eva decides to give dating apps a try, but her friends and sister are concerned that one of her dates may actually be the “Swipe Right Killer.”

Here is the trailer:

F Marry Kill has a cute premise and a really fun cast, but does it do enough to earn a a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Fun and light.

If you’re looking for a quick weekend watch, F Marry Kill certainly fits the bill. It’s basically a step up from a Lifetime movie, but it has plenty of fun moments. I really adored the premise here and appreciated that this film didn’t take itself too seriously.

While not all of the humor landed for me, there were enough moments in this one to keep me invested until the end.

Lucy Hale always gives it her all.

Look, I’m seated for whatever film she’s in and I thought she did a great job here and carried a lot of scenes. The rest of the cast had their moments as well, although I would have liked some more scenes featuring the friends.

The Cons:

Not a fan of the twist.

I like the effort here, but I wasn’t really feeling the twist at the end. I did sort of see it coming, but I was hoping for something more. I really enjoyed the first half of the film, but I think it went off the rails toward the final act.

I also would have liked some gore in the mix. This film had all of the right ingredients, but the execution was slightly off and I think adding in some slasher elements might have helped.

So am I in or out?

I’m in about 75 percent…

F Marry Kill is a fun and quick watch, but it needed to dip more into the slasher side of things to truly make a splash.

I enjoyed my watch for the most part and I thought that Lucy Hale pretty much carried this film on her back, but it needed a few minor tweaks to stand out.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Fall” (2022) in Theaters: Suspenseful Survival Thriller

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“If you’re scared of dying, don’t be afraid to live…”

Fall (2022) released in theaters on August 12th 2022. The adventure thriller film stars Grace (Fulton) Currey, Virginia Gardner, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Mason Gooding. It runs for an hour and forty-seven minutes.

One year after a tragic accident, Becky agrees to climb a 2000 foot abandoned radio tower with her best friend Hunter, but when they wind up stranded at the very top, they need to work together to find a way to survive.

Here is the trailer:

Fall is extremely intense with plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments that will worsen anyone’s fear of heights that much more. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Nail-biting moments throughout!

I am not a huge fan of heights, but wow I don’t even think I can get on a small step ladder after this one. This movie was so intense and brutal! My heart was pounding the entire time. The movie reminded me a lot of The Ledge (which I also really enjoyed and is now streaming on Hulu), but the radio tower environment made it a unique watch. If you enjoy survival thrillers, you’re in the right place.

Characters to root for.

Becky and Hunter were both really likable characters. The film mostly focused on them, but it did bring up the past a little bit and some emotional baggage. I never thought it took away from the core of the film, however. Sometimes films can force these interactions and flashbacks, but this film kept the pacing going without skipping a beat.

The Cons:

Somewhat unbelievable…

I don’t really have many cons for this movie. I did find it a little suspicious that there was a “no trespassing” sign, but no mentions that this tower could be extremely unstable? I guess common sense would tell someone not to climb this tower, but then we wouldn’t have this amazing and intense movie.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

A brutal and intense watch worth your time!

If you’re looking for a good thriller, you should absolutely check this movie out. I also highly recommend watching The Ledge on Hulu. After seeing both movies, I’ll be staying on the ground for quite a while…

Spoiler-Free Review of “American Horror Stories” BA’AL on FX on Hulu: All Hail Billie Lourd!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“I guess a little magic couldn’t hurt…”

American Horror Stories released its fifth episode, “BA’AL” on August 5th 2021. The episode is available to watch on FX on Hulu. Episode five stars Billie Lourd, Ronen Rubinstein, Virginia Gardner and Vanessa Williams. The episode runs for approximately 50 minutes.

After Liv and her husband try multiple times to get pregnant to no avail, a young woman at a fertility clinic presents Liv with a magical fertility totem. One year later, Liv has a newborn baby, but things start to go horribly wrong when she suspects that a demon may be after her child.

Here is the trailer:

American Horror Stories: BA’AL channels classics like Rosemary’s Baby while taking things to a new extreme. Is it worth a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of FX on Hulu

Billie Lourd is magnetic on screen!

The cast is really great in this episode, but I have to give it up for our AHS queen, Billie Lourd. She is so convincing in her roles and she really went all out in this entry. The premise was creepy enough, but her believable reactions really had me on the edge of my seat.

Twists you won’t see coming.

I thought I knew what I was going to get from this episode and then it shattered all of that completely and presented us with something even more horrifying. I am still going through everything in my head because it was that good.

More please!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of FX on Hulu

I don’t have any…

I’ve enjoyed all of the entries to American Horror Stories, but this episode was the strongest by far. It created a different kind of fear and really kept me guessing. I guess my only con is that I want to see Billie Lourd in more AHS episodes because she really is fantastic!

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of FX on Hulu

I’m in 100 percent!

This episode may be the one of the best I have ever witnessed from the entire franchise. It basically could have been a standalone movie. The cast was great, the creepy fear weaving its way through the plot was fantastic, and I still can’t get over those twists! I highly recommend this one!
