Spoiler-Free Review of “Clock” on Hulu: A Relevant and Disturbing Psychological Horror Flick

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“It will all be worth it…”

Clock released on April 28th 2023 on Hulu. The psychological horror film stars Dianna Agron, Jay Ali, Melora Hardin, and Saul Rubinek. It runs for an hour and thirty minutes.

Ella agrees to enroll in a clinical trial to fix her “broken” biological clock after she receives pressure from her friends and family to have a baby.

Here is the trailer:

Clock is a twisted film that will stick with you long after it’s over, making you contemplate the real horror embedded in societal pressure. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Hulu

Deeply disturbing…

It seems like the pressure is everywhere, right? You need to go to school and have a job and get married and have kids all before a certain age or you’ll be forced to answer endless questions from your family, friends, and even strangers about why you’re not trying to be like everyone else? Only sometimes our lives take us down a different path, but trying to justify that to yourself and to others can be exhausting and this film really takes a magnifying glass to these issues, making the premise extremely believable and compelling.

This film has a lot of dark and twisted moments that will have you cringing in your seat. I felt extremely uncomfortable during certain scenes, but I think that was sort of the point. I actually really loved the concept of this film and I think it was executed really well. It tackled so many issues without overdoing things.

Dianna Agron is breathtakingly captivating.

This is probably my favorite role by her yet and she really showed off her range in this film. I loved her character and felt myself drawn to her in so many ways. She didn’t hold back at all in this one, making the psychological and physical descent into darkness that much more riveting.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Hulu

Extreme body horror and some triggering moments…

If body horror isn’t for you, be warned. There were some moments that were tough to watch. Also, if this film’s premise seems to hit too close to home for you, you may want to hold off on this one.

I also had a few unanswered questions by the time I got to the end of the film, but this wasn’t a major con.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

A disturbing and eye-opening watch!

This film was so unique and thought-provoking. I think it also had a really important life-lesson embedded within it, which I don’t see everyday in horror films so this was a welcomed addition.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Clock in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Love & Death” on HBO Max: Candy Returns…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I will drag you through this…”

Love & Death premiered on HBO Max on April 27th 2023 with three episodes available to stream now. There will be seven episodes in total that will air weekly. The limited drama series (based on the true story of Candy Montgomery) stars Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons, Krysten Ritter, Lily Rabe, and Tom Pelphrey. Each episode runs for approximately 54-58 minutes.

Just less than a year later, we get another rendition of the true crime story involving Candy Montgomery and her best friend, Betty Gore.

Here is the trailer:

Love & Death brings us another talented leading lady and a chilling case, but did we really need another series on this crime so soon? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Love & Death no spoilers 1

Images courtesy of HBO Max

Talented cast.

I’m a big fan of Elizabeth Olsen and the rest of the cast is very talented as well, which almost makes me want to re-watch a series that I’ve already seen again just to see their take on things.

Fantastic soundtrack and vibe.

The music may be the best part of this series. It has been transporting me back in time seamlessly. I love the fashion and overall vibe as well. Even though I’m familiar with the plot and the ultimate outcome, I think I have been enjoying these aspects more in this series over Candy.

The Cons:

Love & Death no spoilers 2

Images courtesy of HBO Max

I’m not sure we really need this series…

If you haven’t seen Candy yet on Hulu, you’ll probably get more out of this series. Since I did watch that series less than a year ago, I feel like I already know everything that’s going to happen and I’m not sure that this series is doing anything that new or different this time around.

Also, as much as I love Elizabeth Olsen, I think I preferred Jessica Biel’s grittier portrayal. Elizabeth Olsen still seems so elegant and charming so I’m not sure she was the perfect match for this particular role. That being said, she’s still absolutely wonderful and talented. I’d watch her in pretty much anything…

The pacing is really sluggish so far. Candy only had five episodes and I was weighed down by that pacing as well, so having more episodes this time around that are longer is already problematic for me…

So am I in or out?

Loveo & Death no spoilers 3

Images courtesy of HBO Max

I’m in about 75 percent…

Elizabeth Olsen puts forth a valiant effort here and this is a fascinating case to see unfold on the screen, but the timing of this series seems odd and unnecessary. I’m in for now, but I’m hoping to see some drastic changes to keep me invested.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Love & Death in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Saint X” on Hulu: Alycia Debnam-Carey Stars in a Layered Murder Mystery

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“Sometimes it feels like the whole world knows more than I do…”

Saint X premiered on Hulu on April 26th 2023 with the first three episodes available to stream now. There will be eight episodes in total. The mystery-drama series stars Alycia Debnam-Carey, West Duchovny, Josh Bonzie, and Betsy Brandt. Each episode is approximately 44-48 minutes.

Emily searches for answers about her sister’s death years later when she comes face-to-face with a person of interest from the crime.

Here is the trailer:

Saint X has an intriguing premise told through different perspectives and timelines, but does it do enough to hold our attention? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Saint X no spoilers 1

Images courtesy of Hulu

Alycia Debnam-Carey gives it her all.

Alycia Debnam-Carey stepped into this role after Victoria Pedretti left the project, but I have to admit that she is the main reason why I am watching this series. I am a big fan of hers and I think she is really putting forth a lot of emotions, but I’m hoping her character gets a chance to grow with more screen time in the remainder of the episodes. She’s very talented and has elevated a lot of flat moments so far.

A solid mystery at its core.

This is one of those series where we’ll have to wait until the end to understand what truly happened to Emily’s sister and I’m hoping it pays off. I love the resort setting and I appreciate that this series is trying to step away from the typical murder mystery formula to focus on aspects of class, race, and relationships. It may be taking on a bit too much, but the effort is there.

The Cons:

Saint X no spoilers 2

Images courtesy of Hulu

Slow and exhausting at times…

The premise is so interesting to me, but I haven’t been hooked just yet and I’ve already watched three episodes, which is usually my limit. I’m going to give the series a chance because I’m hopeful that the payoff will be rewarding enough, but the pacing needs a lot of improvement. The constant jumps between timelines are really confusing at times and the transitions are choppy.

Doing way too much.

I know that this series is trying to step away from the typical mystery-crime series we see airing nearly every week, but I personally feel that it needs to take a step back and just focus on the main story, which is interesting enough. I’m all for developing characters and learning more about them, but it’s not translating well yet and a lot of the content has been dull and uninspiring, which is disappointing.

So am I in or out?

Saint X no spoilers 3

Images courtesy of Hulu

I’m 50/50 on this one…

I’m going to give it a few more episodes for Alycia, but the pacing really needs to pick up drastically to keep me invested.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Saint X in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Evil Dead Rise” in Theaters: Blood-Drenched Terror At Its Finest!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“It’s called the Book of the Dead for a reason…”

Evil Dead Rise released in theaters on April 21st 2023. The latest entry to the Evil Dead franchise stars Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Nell Fisher, Gabrielle Echols, and Morgan Davies.

Beth goes to visit her sister and her family when a sinister evil is unleashed upon them, threatening to kill them all off one by one.

Here is the trailer:

Evil Dead Rise brings one of the greatest horror franchises back to life again with shocking gore and truly disturbing moments. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

Does the franchise proud!

The Evil Dead franchise is one of my favorites of all time and I think it successfully launched a remake in 2013 that kept fans satisfied while creating something new and terrifying in the process. Well, the latest 2023 entry goes even further and presents us with a chilling and sinister film that flawlessly channels the original films while unleashing a new evil upon us that was an absolute joy to watch on the big screen.

The gore was out of this world, the scenes were each more terrifying than the next, and that title card will probably haunt me for years to come…

Images courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

Electrifying performances.

Our two main leads were bad-ass and then some! Alyssa Sutherland was so shockingly amazing as a deadite and may be the most terrifying one of all time…

I absolutely loved the character of Beth as well and thought she really rocked the blood-soaked look with flair. There was pure magic between these characters and I was rooting for all of them in different ways.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

I don’t have any…

A flawless masterpiece!!!

Seriously, the pacing was on point, the scenes were all so captivating and stunning to watch unfold, and the terrifying moments were truly extraordinary.

So am I in or out?

I’m in 1000 percent!!!

Chilling, gory, and wickedly entertaining!

I’ve been so incredibly excited to watch this film and it did not disappoint! What are you waiting for? See this on the big screen if you can!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Welcome to Eden” Season 2 on Netflix: The Twists and Betrayals are far from over!

**This is a spoiler-free review for season 2 so feel free to read on!**

“Paradise is on hold…”

Welcome to Eden (Bienvenidos a Edén) season 2 premiered on Netflix on April 21st 2023 with eight episodes available to stream now. The Spanish thriller series stars Amaia Aberasturi, Belinda, Amaia Salamanca, and Sergio Momo. Each episode runs for approximately 42-52 minutes.

Zoa and her friends continue to fight for survival on the island, but things get more complicated when some new arrivals shake things up.

Here is the trailer:

Welcome to Eden season 2 picks up right where it left off with soapy thrills, insane twists, and a crazy cult that may have you rethinking your next vacation. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

The intense twists continue!

Season 1 did a fantastic job with this and I wasn’t sure if season 2 would be able to keep up, but it really goes all out and throws in some edge-of-your-seat moments that had me holding my breath!

This show is not afraid to kill off characters and it’s far from predictable, giving the audience plenty of guilty pleasure thrills to keep them binge-watching until the very end.

Images courtesy of Netflix

Couples to root for.

The character dynamics and relationships on this show really keep you invested. You care about what happens to these characters and there are some ships that will really make you swoon and then some.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

A LOT to keep track of!

I highly recommend re-watching the first season prior to watching this or at least watching the recaps. I was a little lost in the first episode, but luckily everything started to come back to me by the time we got to episode 2.

That being said, there are a lot of sub-plots and tons of characters to keep track of. While I have come to expect the soapy and steamy fluff in this series, I thought they went a little overboard here at times. The episodes could have been a little bit shorter to keep the pacing going.

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in!!!!

While not as strong as season 1, season 2 doesn’t hold back and gives us plenty of shocking and steamy moments to enjoy. Fingers crossed that we get a season 3!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Renfield” in Theaters: Nicolas Cage is a Boss you don’t want to cross…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I need to get out of a toxic relationship…”

Renfield released in theaters on April 14th 2023. The vampire horror comedy film stars Nicolas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, and Brandon Scott Jones. It runs for an hour and thirty-three minutes.

After centuries of serving Dracula, Renfield realizes that he may have a new destiny, which requires him freeing himself from his demanding master.

Here is the trailer:

Renfield has a fun cast and some bloody charm, but does it do enough to earn a watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Universal Pictures

The Nics steal the show!

Both Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult were fantastic in this! Nicholas Hoult was charming and really hysterical and Nicolas Cage was…well…Nic freakin Cage! Both of them played their parts very well and put on a good show.

They were the best part of this film!

Images courtesy of Universal Pictures

Some truly entertaining moments.

I loved the self-help aspect of this film even though I saw it a million times in the previews. The group members were really funny and contributed a lot to the humor in this. The film opened up in a strong way and even re-wrote the familiar story of Dracula with some fun twists.

We got plenty of fight scenes as well, which helped the pacing.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Universal Pictures

Needed some more bite…

The movie was enjoyable overall, but I wanted a little more bite and edge. Everything just felt a little bit too safe and predictable. Some of the humor didn’t really land for me as well and I thought that some of the other supporting characters were just kind of meh…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Universal Pictures

I’m in about 75 percent…

Renfield has its charms and is entertaining enough, but I wanted a little bit more in order for this film to pave its way into the horror comedy genre.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Hunt Her, Kill Her” on Demand: Brutal and Bad-Ass!

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Ever worked in a place like this before?”

Hunt Her, Kill Her (formerly titled Night Shift) released on Demand on April 14th 2023. It previously had a limited theatrical release on March 3rd 2023. The horror-thriller film stars Natalie Terrazzino. It runs for approximately an hour and twenty-eight minutes.

Karen starts a new job as a night shift janitor, which quickly escalates into a fight for survival when several intruders break in.

Here is the trailer:

Hunt Her, Kill Her is a tense and violent thriller with a strong female lead and a simple formula that works. Is it worthy of your next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Trauma One Entertainment

A terrifying premise that gets better and better with each scene!

I love when a simple thriller like this excels. It’s clear that this film had a lower budget and yet it used what it had and went for it without holding back. Wow! The setting and premise were really creepy, enhancing the overall tone of the film.

We didn’t get very much set-up and started off things rather quickly, never giving the audience a chance to come up for air. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and there were some moments that made my jaw drop in the best way possible.

Each scene built up so much intensity and there was a twist that made this film pop even more. In a lot of ways, this film reminded me of Open 24 Hours.

This was my type of thriller and then some!

Images courtesy of Trauma One Entertainment

A resourceful female lead to root for!

I love a strong Final Girl and when she can be ruthless and inventive with her kills, that makes me love her that much more. Terrazzino held her own and really dominated the screen. I was cheering for her the entire time and loved how bad-ass she was. Wow!

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Trauma One Entertainment

I needed a few more details…

Don’t get me wrong, I love that we jumped right into things with minimal fluff and set-up, but I needed a little bit more to fill in some blanks. Once we got to the twist, I was scratching my head a little bit because I needed a touch more to truly appreciate everything. This wasn’t a major con, but I think it would have helped me connect to Karen even quicker if we got a few more layers earlier on.

So am I in or out?

I’m in!!!

Hunt Her, Kill Her brings a night from hell to life with a fantastic performance by Natalie Terrazzino, keeping me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

I’ve been anxiously waiting to watch this film and I was super bummed that it didn’t release in my local theater. I’m happy to report that this film exceeded my expectations! I absolutely loved it!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Florida Man” on Netflix: An Entertaining Weekend Binge-Watch

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“Tell us how it started…”

Florida Man released on Netflix on April 13th 2023 with all seven episodes available to stream now. The action-comedy series stars Édgar Ramírez, Abbey Lee, Otmara Marrero, Lex Scott Davis, Clark Gregg, and Anthony LaPaglia. Each episode runs for approximately 42-50 minutes.

A former cop works off his gambling debt by agreeing to track down a criminal’s girlfriend in Florida, which leads to a treasure hunt.

Here is the trailer:

Florida Man is a delightful mix of Out of Sight and Fool’s Gold with fun characters and a mystery that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Is it worthy of YOUR next watch? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Solid mix of genres.

I don’t typically like when a series tries to do too much, but I thought the blending of genres worked with this particular series. I loved the vibe of this show and it kept me coming back for more. The comedy and action really worked well and even the emotional moments allowed these characters a chance to truly grow and develop on screen, which made me root for them that much more.

There were some fantastic twists in this one as well.

Images courtesy of Netflix

Fun character dynamics.

I really loved a lot of the characters and the dynamic between them worked well for the most part. There were some random wild cards thrown in there as well, but it made this series an entertaining ride and added to the humor.

Our two leads were both fantastic on screen. I really connected to both of them for different reasons. Overall, this series took the time to develop these characters while still delivering some entertaining action, which I appreciated.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Lacking chemistry at times…

While I really loved both of the main characters on their own, the chemistry between them was lacking at times and felt a little forced. The flashbacks needed work to show a true connection.

There was also A LOT overstuffed into the middle of this series, which made it run longer than it needed to. The beginning and ending were both really strong, however.

I think maybe this series only needed to be about 5 or 6 episodes tops…

So am I in or out?

Images courtesy of Netflix

I’m in!!!

Far from perfect, but an enjoyable and satisfying ride!

If you’re looking for a good weekend binge-watch that you don’t have to concentrate too hard on, this is the show for you.

Spoiler-Free Review of “Obsession” on Netflix: An Erotic Thriller with a lot of intense staring…

*This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!*

“I’d love for you both to get to know each other…”

Obsession premiered on Netflix on April 13th 2023. The UK erotic thriller series features four episodes available to stream now. It stars Richard Armitage, Charlie Murphy, and Indira Varma. Each episode runs for approximately 38-42 minutes.

A surgeon’s affair with his son’s fiancée turns into an infatuation with irreversible consequences.

Here is the trailer:

Obsession has a promising premise with a familiar leading man, but does it do enough to set itself from other erotic thrillers that have followed a similar formula? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Obsession 2023 no spoilers

Images courtesy of Netflix

A quick watch.

The limited series only has four episodes, which made it very easy to binge-watch in one sitting. The episodes were on the shorter side as well and the pacing was decent enough. There’s a lot of fluff to sit through, but at least it didn’t drag things out for too long…

Richard Armitage.

He’s the only reason why I tuned into this one and I love him in the Harlan Coben thrillers so I was hoping for the best here, but I’m not sure he got to reach his full potential in this particular series. That being said, his presence alone made this watch a little more bearable.

The Cons:

Obsession 2023 no spoilers 1

Images courtesy of Netflix

Weird/crazy laughable moments…

This series isn’t meant to be a comedy and yet I found myself laughing out loud at some of these manic looks between our two main characters. I get that the series was trying to create an erotic thriller based on the balance of control but this was just too over-the-top.

The series didn’t really have many “thrilling” moments either. Sure, we eventually get to a shocking moment, but by that time I was completely bored out of my skull.

There’s sex galore in this one, but the plot just felt really dry and bland. I just couldn’t get into it, which was disappointing.

So am I in or out?

Obsession 2023 no spoilers 3

Images courtesy of Netflix

Unfortunately I’m out on this one…

Obsession doesn’t take as many risks as it should have with the plot, which made this a disappointing and boring watch overall.

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Night Agent” on Netflix: Non-Stop Action Thrill Ride!

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“You reached the wrong number…”

The Night Agent premiered on Netflix on March 23rd 2023 with ten episodes available to stream now. The action-thriller series stars Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, Hong Chau, Sarah Desjardins, Eve Harlow, Fola Evans-Akingbola, and D.B. Woodside. Each episode runs for approximately 48-55 minutes.

An FBI agent answers an emergency line that rarely rings when a woman calls in distress as he quickly finds himself involved in a deadly conspiracy.

Here is the trailer:

The Night Agent is the perfect show for fans of 24 and Homeland, making this an addicting and consuming watch. Does it live up to the hype? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Starts off with a bang…

Literally! And it never slows down at all. It’s not easy to nail a premiere episode and yet this series did so with perfection. There was so much action in it and it never lost momentum as the episodes continued. Wow!

This is not my usual type of series, but once I started, I couldn’t stop watching it. It really reels you in and monopolizes your time in the best way possible!

Each episode did just enough at the end to make your head spin with fantastic twists and reveals, great chemistry between characters, and plenty of shocking moments filled with entertaining action.

What else could I ask for?

Images courtesy of Netflix

Fantastic characters to root for!

Our main leads were incredible. I really liked both of them and enjoyed the dynamic between them. It took a little while for us to unpack their layers, but we did get to that point, which I appreciated.

The supporting characters were great too since there were plenty of sub-plots in this one. I loved the villains and I even found myself rooting for characters that seemed slightly unnecessary or annoying in the beginning. Every single character played a pivotal role and added to this series.

The Cons:

Images courtesy of Netflix

Forced dialogue at first…

Even though there was plenty of action and thrilling moments to enjoy right away, it took me a little while to appreciate everything else going on. I think this was mostly because some of the initial dialogue felt a little too scripted and forced. The actors did the best with what they were given and this greatly improved as the episodes continued, but I did notice it.

This wasn’t a major con and it never impacted my watch. I think the series was just finding its way and luckily it got there!

So am I in or out?

I’m in 1000 percent!!!!!!

The Night Agent is one of the most well-paced and exciting shows I have watched in a long time, making it a binge-watcher’s dream and then some!

My favorite series of the year so far!

I’m so excited that this series has already been confirmed for season two and I can’t to see what’s next for The Night Agent!

I highly recommend this series even if it doesn’t seem like your type of show. It’s worth it so I’d give it a chance!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Night Agent in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

A VACATION TO DIE FOR…

Blood Rose Island Ad

When sisters, Nina and Gemma are vacationing in Hawaii with their friends, they get invited to an exclusive party on a private island that seems too good to be true. There’s only one rulethey can’t miss their ferry at midnight or they’ll have to wait until morning to leave the island. Only they didn’t realize that breaking this rule meant they would be hunted down on the island one by one.

Who will make it off the island alive?

I hope you enjoy my new island thriller!
