Ranking the top 5 moments from “SMILF” season 2 episode 7: “You’re My Girl”

Greetings TV viewers!  After watching Showtime’s SMILF season 2  episode 7, I realized that true friendship is when you no longer consider that person your friend and instead, they become family.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Smile More If Lying Fails,” Bridgette and Larry get their hair done and are invited to Eliza’s party.  Meanwhile, Rafi and Nelson share their happy news and Bridgette shows up for her date two weeks late.  My top 5 moments from the SMILF season 2 episode 7 are:

5

“Do you like your hair?  No.”

In the beginning of the episode, the waitress leaves Bridgette a note saying that she does hair, in case she wants to take Larry.  Bridgette asks Larry if he likes his hair and he hilariously says, “No.”  Straight and to the point, Larry!  Larry is scared when he is getting his hair done so Bridgette decides to get her hair done too.  However, I’m not sure that identical cornrows was the right decision.

4

“Larry we gotta go get some weed.”

Eliza is stressing out at her party and calls Bridgette up in a panic to come over and get her some weed.  Bridgette hilariously announces this to Larry, as they head over to Tutu’s together.  It’s always fun seeing what Tutu and her sister are up to, but Bridgette tries to stick to the mission as much as possible with Larry by her side.

3

“A magical Puerto Rican wedding…I can’t wait.”

Rafi and Nelson announce that they are getting married and Bridgette seems genuinely happy for them.  However, she quickly discovers that Larry is invited to the wedding, but she is not, which makes Bridgette feel some type of way.  I felt really bad for Bridgette in this moment, as she realizes that her relationship with Rafi has certainly changed, now learning that he changed her name in his phone to just “Bridgette Bird.”  Is there any hope for these two?  I’m still hoping so!

2

“I’m here for our date…you’re two weeks late.”

Bridgette is still feeling upset about Rafi’s announcement and decides to call up the tattoo artist she stood up.  He seems eager to see her and immediately skips dinner to initiate sex, but Bridgette is less than enthused about his over-aggressive approach.  Bridgette hilariously begins texting Eliza during the act, saying that the sex is so bad, only she sends it to her date by mistake.  Bridgette leaves after an awkward goodbye, realizing that perhaps this was not what she needed after all.

1

“You’re my girl.”

At the end of the episode, Bridgette meets up with Eliza and confides in her about her date and about Rafi’s announcement.  Eliza proves to be Bridgette’s real friend, as she has her back and tells her that she is her cousin.  I love the friendship between these two, which is far from perfect, but they both support each other, which is important.  I was so disappointed to hear that SMILF has been canceled, but I’m looking forward to the remaining episodes of the series.  Let’s just hope it doesn’t end on a major cliffhanger!  Stay tuned for more SMILF fun!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and comments on SMILF below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 14: “Don’t Ever Look Back”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 14 season finale, I realized that we sometimes get a second chance, even after we have hit rock bottom.  So what do we do with it?  Do we play it safe or do we travel into the unknown?  The decision is never easy, but all we can do is try and embrace the future.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Found,” Fiona makes a huge decision that will impact everyone around her.  Meanwhile, Liam moves out, Carl and Debbie team up, and Frank burdens everyone with his recovery.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 14 season finale are:

5

“I moved out.”

During the episode, Liam decides to move out of the Gallagher house for good.  Debbie tries to get him to come back home, but Liam explains that he doesn’t want to be a Gallagher anymore and even Carl asks, “Is that an option?”  Debbie refuses to give up and Liam presents her with a list of demands of 46 items that will need to be addressed in order for him to consider moving home, as Liam is looking to embrace his culture in a stable environment.  Good for you, Liam!

4

“I’m a man again!”

Kev is thrilled to be “a man again” and even starts thinking about renting himself out as Jesus.  V is skeptical, but Kev has endless possibilities, including “A Jesus Stripper” and “Last Supper Jesus.”  It looks like Kev has embraced this new role, but someone should probably tell him that “Bar Mitzvah Jesus” may not go over that well…

3

“Now that’s a woman!”

In the beginning of the episode, Carl and Debbie team up to get some revenge on Kelly for breaking their hearts, as they go into full stealth mode to mess up her truck.  Kelly is furious and confronts Debbie, as we hilariously see that Carl spray painted “heart beaker” instead of “heart breaker.”  Debbie informs Kelly that she knows how to spell, but takes this moment to stand up for her brother, as she tells Kelly that she really hurt her brother and that he feels rejected.  Carl is ready to give up on school and settle for working in fast food, but we know he is worth so much more than that.  Kelly refuses to accept this and storms into “Captain Bob’s” and zip ties Carl and takes him out of there, telling his boss that he quits.  Kelly really is one hell of a woman, as she tells Carl to man up and kisses him, suggesting that there is hope for these two to get back together.  Yay!

2

“You just love them.”

Tami decides to move forward with her pregnancy after getting her test results back from the doctor.  Lip wants to be a father, but Tami thinks that he will be a terrible one.  In a touching moment, Lip gets some advice from Kev, who tells him that you just love them, which is actually really great advice.  I personally think that Lip will be an excellent father, especially after seeing how good he was with Xan, but it will definitely be an adventure for sure.

1

“I’m scared.”

After receiving the $100,000 check from Max, Fiona realizes that she now has a second chance.  Fiona goes to visit Ian in prison and he tells her to go because she deserves it.  Fiona is scared, but Ian reminds her, “Don’t ever look back.”  Ian will always be there to love and support her, along with the rest of her family, but Fiona recognizes that it is time to start her life somewhere else.  Lip wants to throw Fiona a goodbye party, but she leaves before it, realizing that she may not be able to go if she stays for that.  Fiona recognizes that it is now or never and takes that leap of faith to get on the plane and move forward toward the unknown.  She loves her family and even leaves Deb a check for $50,000 and reminds Frank that she did it all, as he tries to thank her for helping over the years.  It’s clearly difficult for Frank to admit this and he probably has his own feelings about his oldest daughter leaving, but Fiona takes the high road and doesn’t look back.  We’re proud of you, Fiona Gallagher!

I have to say that I definitely shed a few tears at the end of the episode.  I will absolutely miss Emmy Rossum on the show and I’m not sure that it will be the same without her, but we definitely still have a lot of Gallagher fun to keep us entertained.  Fiona was always the heart and soul of the show for me and I feel like I just said goodbye to my best friend when she got on the plane.  You’ll never be replaced, Fiona, and I hope that you get your chance at a happily ever after!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “SMILF” season 2 episode 6: “Free Money, Free Money, Free Money!”

Greetings TV viewers!  After watching Showtime’s SMILF season 2 episode 6, I realized that sometimes we just need one person to truly believe in us.  That person may not always be right, but just knowing that he or she is in your corner can make a world of difference.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Should Mothers Incur Loss Financially?” Bridgette tries to get a job, as the bills begin to pile up all around her.  Meanwhile, Tutu is in for a shocking discovery and Rafi and Nelson have an argument.  My top 5 moments from the SMILF season 2 episode 6 are:

5

“I want a pony.  Me too.”

In the beginning of the episode, we get to witness Bridgette’s long list of bills, as she desperately tries to find full time employment.  Bridgette even goes on an interview and seems to hit it off with the potential employer, but it doesn’t end up working out after she notices that Bridgette has a child.  Bridgette is prepared to sacrifice time with Larry to support him and even asks him what he would like to buy with their money in the future.  Larry responds with the only logical answer:  a pony!

4

“What are you, a welfare queen?”

After Bridgette applies for SNAP benefits, she is excited to try out her food stamps at the grocery store, only she learns that it does not apply to many of the purchases she actually needs.  Tutu is upset that Bridgette went this route and hilariously asks her if she is a welfare queen, which transitions us into a hilarious clip of Bridgette being the ultimate welfare queen in one of her daydreams.  I have to say that I loved the costume!  Bridgette then gets into an argument with Tutu after she refuses to give her the money to pay for the groceries, as Bridgette tells her that she is a terrible mother and storms out.

3

“I’m just dropping off the keys…”

Rafi drives Bridgette to Ally’s house to drop off the keys, but Bridgette discovers that no one is home and takes this opportunity to go on her own shopping spree in Ally’s house.  She takes groceries and a watch, among other things.  Bridgette realizes that it is wrong to steal from Ally, even though she probably won’t notice that any of the stuff is missing, but this scene was extremely comical to watch.

2

“I’ll wash your hair tonight if you want.”

We witness an argument between Rafi and Nelson, as Nelson begins to get frustrated since she is paying for all of their bills.  Nelson supports Rafi and believes in him, but she gets angry when he doesn’t wait for the plumber.  After Rafi confides in Bridgette, she gives him some really great advice and reminds him that he and Nelson are great together and that she is there for him every step of the way.  In a sweet moment, Rafi brings jugs of water home and offers to wash Nelson’s hair.  He then proposes to her and it looks like these two might have a happily ever after.  However, I am still leaning toward Rafi and Bridgette in the end.

1

“How about we make a bet?”

At the end of the episode, Bridgette and Tutu come together, as they both have a lot going on.  Tutu suggests that they make a bet and says that Bridgette will find her dream job within a year and will take any job she can get in the meantime.  Bridgette tells Tutu that she will find her own house to buy since Joe’s son is insisting on selling the house she has grown to love over the years.  Even though Bridgette and Tutu often argue, they love each other and this bet proves that they will continue to support one another as much as they can.  Stay tuned for more SMILF fun!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 13: “Is That Bone?”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 13, I realized that it’s never easy to get back up and start over, but sometimes it is necessary.  Even if it feels hopeless, every now and again you will be surprised by what comes next.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Lost,” Frank suffers an injury that gets him a pass into the hospital, but most of the staff are not too thrilled with his presence.  Meanwhile, Fiona starts over, Lip has a heart-to-heart talk with Tami, and Liam decides he has had enough.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 13 are:

5

“It took them two days to realize I was gone.”

During the episode, Fiona notices that Liam is not in his room and she begins texting him to try and find him.  Everyone else starts reaching out to Liam too, but we find out that he has been hanging out at his friend’s house and comments on how long it took everyone to notice he was missing.  Liam decides not to answer any of their texts and continues to have some fun.  I can’t say I really blame him, but it looks like he is getting some quality Liam time in.  After all, there is always some kind of commotion going on in the Gallagher home.  Enjoy your vacation away, Liam!

4

“Pull the trigger!”

Carl is still upset about Kelly breaking up with him and he hates it that Debbie is trying to move in on his territory.  To make matters worse, he also finds out that he did not get into West Point.  During work, a robber points a gun at Carl and he simply tells him to pull the trigger because his day can’t get any better.  Only the robber actually shoots the gun and Carl proceeds to beat the crap out of him.  Perhaps a job in law enforcement is in his future?  Later on, Debbie tries to make a move on Kelly and is rejected.  Carl and Debbie actually share a sweet moment together, as Carl tells her that she will find someone to be with someday.  It’s nice to see that these two can still support each other even though they were both initially fighting over the same girl.

3

“The nuns know.”

The gig is up, as Kev and V’s daughters are finally spotted together at preschool.  The nuns call up Kev and V to discuss the matter further and explain what there are options are.  They can either pay back tuition to prevent being brought up for fraud or Kev can play Jesus and drag a 300 pound cross to the church while wearing his revealing costume.  I mean, I guess it beats paying the $1400, but it’s not every day that you get to see Jesus walking down the block.

2

“Is that bone?”

After Fiona’s former building is bulldozed, Frank is still inside and ends up injuring his leg severely during the commotion.  Frank says it is just a scratch, but his bone is literally sticking out.  Frank is no stranger to the emergency room, as the members of the staff know him quite well and refuse to give him pain medication.  We learn that Frank has been to this particular hospital 52 times and he has no insurance.  However, Frank gets a lucky break after all, as he ends up with a short visit and lots of pain medication before being dumped out on his street by the ambulance.

1

“Did you let Lip recruit you into that cult?”

Fiona continues to go to AA meetings and is starting to pick up the pieces.  After meeting with her lawyer, she learns that she needs to prove that she is a contributing member of society since she is facing assault charges from the woman she punched in the face during the block party.  Fiona can’t really be picky with her options and ends up taking a job at a gas station.  At the end of the episode, Max walks in and offers her a real chance to start over.  He explains that they are moving forward with the project and that he would like to buy Fiona out, which would give her $100,000.  Talk about a lucky break.  I have to admit that my heart skipped a beat when I saw a man walk in the gas station, as I was kind of hoping it might be Jimmy.  However, it looks like this chance encounter will finally allow Fiona a fresh start.  Stay tuned for the season finale next week, as we say goodbye to our beloved Fiona Gallagher.  I’m not sure I am ready to, however.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “SMILF” season 2 episode 5: “Single Mom in Love Forever”

Greetings TV viewers!  After watching Showtime’s SMILF season 2 episode 5, I realized that preparing for parenthood is never easy and things don’t always go according to plan.  But it’s all worth it in the end.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Single Mom in Love Forever,” we travel back to 2014, as Bridgette and Rafi prepare for parenthood.  Meanwhile, we finally understand where Tutu’s nickname comes from and also discover Bridgette’s inspiration for her son’s name.  My top 5 moments from the SMILF season 2 episode 5 are:

5

“You cannot have a baby with that idiot.”

In the beginning of the episode, Tutu makes her feelings known right away, as she reacts to the news that Bridgette is pregnant.  Even though Tutu is not Rafi’s biggest fan, she wants to support her daughter and do right by her.  Rafi tries to bond with Tutu in several moments, but Tutu is still disappointed in some of her daughter’s decisions.  That doesn’t mean that she will not be there for them, however.

4

“We’re not naming our kid after Hitler.”

One of the funniest moments of the episode is when Rafi suggests that they name their son, Adolfo.  Bridgette explains that adding an “o” to a name doesn’t really help and uses the example, “Hitlero,” to further her argument.  At this point, they haven’t decided on a name just yet, but Bridgette clearly wants it to mean something special.

3

“I know how much you love me.”

Rafi proposes to Bridgette when he finds out that she is pregnant and they have plans to get married.  However, they are not without issues, as we learn that Rafi kisses someone else, which rubs Bridgette the wrong way.  Bridgette knows how much Rafi loves her and Rafi is extremely excited to be a father, but she ends up telling him that she can’t marry him while in labor.  However, I still see some sparks between these two in present day, so maybe they are finally ready to give it another try?  We’ll have to wait and see.

2

“You’re in labor right here in a park.”

Bridgette has been preparing for a home birth, but Tutu reminds her that there are no life saving devices at home and tries to get her to go to the hospital.  Bridgette is extremely determined to have a home birth, which is painful to watch.  While I understand her wanting to follow through with her plan, I think that maybe it would have been a good idea to go to the hospital after all, but at least everything worked out in the end.

1

“See someone was giving away Larry Bird T-Shirts.”

After walking around while in labor, Bridgette comes across a Larry Bird T-Shirt.  She initially tries to steal it, but the woman selling it ultimately tells her she can have it.  This inspires Larry’s name, as she gives birth to her son in this very shirt.  Bridgette, Rafi, and Tutu’s reaction to Larry’s arrival is sweet and heartwarming.  Tutu requests to be called “Tutu” because it is Hawaiian for Grandma and she always thought of herself as Hawaiian.  I guess that’s as good a reason as any.  Either way, this episode gave us the chance to see Bridgette’s past, which was important and revealing.  Stay tuned for more SMILF fun!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on SMILF below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “SMILF” season 2 episode 4: “It Only Has To Work Once”

Greetings TV viewers!  After watching Showtime’s SMILF season 2, episode 4, I realized that “there’s something about Bridgette Bird.”  Sure, she may be a little quirky, but it’s important that she recognizes who she is and stays true to herself.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “So Maybe I Look Feminine,” Bridgette has a busy day planned, as she tries to tackle her to-do list.  Meanwhile, Nelson invites Bridgette to the salon, which leads to some temptation and fantasy along the way.  My top 5 moments from SMILF season 2 episode 4 are:

5

“You’re the one that should shush.”

In the beginning of the episode, Rafi and Nelson arrive at Bridgette’s apartment to pick Larry up for a fun weekend.  Bridgette is thrown off when Nelson shushes Larry while on the phone.  Bridgette is very protective of Larry and she wants him to feel loved wherever he goes, but she chooses not to confront Nelson in this very moment.  However, she does point out to herself that Nelson is the one that should really shush.

4

“Rollin with the homies…”

After trying to tackle her to-do list, Bridgette takes Nelson up on her offer and joins her and her friend at the salon.  After flipping through some hairstyle choices a la Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy, Nelson decides she will be going with the Brittany Murphy look and her and her friend break out into a tear-filled “rollin with the homies” to honor Brittany’s classic performance in one of my favorite films of all time, Clueless

3

“I think you should consider going blonde.”

While waiting for her stylist, Bridgette meets a bride to be, played by Ari Graynor, and the two bond over some eyeliner tips.  The woman suggests that Bridgette goes blonde, which allows us to see Bridgette’s fantasy world complete with an adorable polka dot ensemble, while watching a polo match.  Bridgette actually looks really fabulous with her blonde hair, but we quickly learn that it has somehow transformed her entire life, which I’m not sure is really possible, but sometimes we all need a change in our look here and there.

2

“Is that Kevin Bacon on a horse?”

I mean, Bridgette’s fantasy would not be complete without Kevin Bacon showing up on a horse.  After all, Hollow Man is her favorite film.  Later on, Bridgette crosses paths with Kevin Bacon, who offers to “finger bang” her.  However, he does not want to do this in front of his horse, Peggy, named after Pegasus.  After the act is complete, Kevin asks Bridgette to dinner, who is beyond thrilled to accept.

1

“I missed you today.”

After the encounter with Kevin, Bridgette confronts Nelson about shushing Larry and Ari Graynor’s character ends up getting brutally hit in the face with a polo ball.  There is blood everywhere and Bridgette repeatedly asks, “Will someone help her?”  Bridgette spots a mannequin dressed like her former self in a t-shirt and shorts with brown hair, reminding her who she really is.  This moment snaps Bridgette back to reality, as she is now staring in the mirror at her messy brown hair and makes the decision not to go to the salon.  Bridgette is beyond thrilled to see Larry return, reminding her what’s truly important to her.  Stay tuned for more SMILF fun!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on SMILF below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 11: “The Hobo Games”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 11, I realized that you may train and train for your moment in the spotlight, but you should never underestimate the power of social media.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “The Hobo Games,” Frank makes it into the final round of competition to become the Hobo Loco Man, but Ingrid tries to make him choose between the game and her.  Meanwhile, Fiona’s behavior does not improve, Carl gets promoted at work, and Debbie grows closer to Kelly.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 11 are:

5

“I’m pregnant.”

In this episode, Tami keeps Lip at a distance and even blows him off when she is supposed to take him and Xan to their meeting.  Lip finally tracks Tami down and she reveals that she is pregnant, which shocks Lip.  Lip has a lot of things going on in his life right now, but he would absolutely be there to support Tami.  But does she want his help?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but I’m really hoping that Tami doesn’t shut Lip out because these two are adorable together.

4

“Why is that my scrotum’s fault?”

An excellent question, Kev.  V wants Kev to get a vasectomy, especially since their two children are threatening any other kids that live in their home.  Kev is hesitant about this and even calls “bullshit on vasectomies,” but V means business.  After hearing another patient screaming, Kev decides to pretend that he had the surgery and ends up spending the day “masturbating” and “learning the dance in Fortnite,” while high on his pain medication.  V gets a call at work and finds out that Kev never had the surgery and she reminds him that he will be going back there to complete it.  I guess it was worth a shot, Kev.

3

“Girl’s day!”

Debbie begins to grow closer to Kelly and explores her desires further.  Carl is not pleased by this, as he is not looking to compete over his girlfriend with his sister.  Debbie and Kelly have a fun water fight outside that Carl’s new co-workers are impressed by, but Carl reminds Debbie that Kelly is not a lesbian.  Will she give up on her new crush?  We’ll have to wait and see, but the “girl’s day” was a blast to watch for sure.

2

“I’m not quitting this!”

Frank and Mikey O. make it to the last round of the Hobo Loco Man competition and Frank is ready to win his $50,000 grand prize.  After testing his blood alcohol content, he is told that his “blood is basically jet fuel,” but Frank has been training for this moment for quite some time.  In the end, Frank is slightly distracted when Ingrid tries to get him to leave and Mikey O. and him both miss jumping on the train.  Frank assumes that he will still get a prize, but we learn that the default winner is chosen by how many social media fans someone has and Gloria takes the top prize.  I mean, she did end up going topless for her fans, which shows dedication and commitment.  Ingrid also makes the decision to leave with Randy, so it looks like Frank is left with nothing.  Sorry Frank, my money was on you!

1

“I want you out of this f*cking house.”

In the beginning of the episode, Fiona wakes up in a random hotel room and stoops to a new low, when she steals some Oxy to make a few extra bucks.  We find out that Deb did pay her bail to get her out of jail, but Fiona still needs to pay her fair share.  Later in the episode, Fiona is caught off guard during an unannounced home check to determine if Xan can stay there.  Lip is upset and Fiona tries to track him down to make things right, but she ends up having a drink and talking about her problems with Lip’s sponsee, Jason.  Fiona pours him a drink, which causes Jason to call up his dealer, ending his 100 days of being sober.  Lip is beyond angry at Fiona.  Fiona tries to explain that she didn’t know, but Lip tells her that she simply didn’t care to and that he wants her out of the house.  Fiona is shocked and hurt by Lip’s words, but will it be enough to help her get back on track?  There are only three episodes left this season and I am still wondering how Fiona will leave the show.  I’m really hoping that Jimmy comes back to take her away and help her, so that we get a happy ending, similar to Ian being reunited with Mickey, but there are endless possibilities.  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “SMILF” season 2 episode 3: “Birthday twins!”

Greetings TV viewers!  After watching Showtime’s SMILF season 2  episode 3, I was reminded that one night can have a ripple effect on so many others, only you don’t always realize it.  After Bridgette’s fiasco last week, we actually get to learn how her night impacted other characters on the show, which was clever and fun.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Surrogate Mothers Inspire Loving Families,” which is a play on SMILF, Bridgette takes the statue of Mary home and tries to recover from her crazy adventure.  Meanwhile, the episode is split up into three parts, allowing us to see how that same day impacted:  Ida, Ally & Mindy, and Elsie.  My top 5 moments from the SMILF season 2 episode 3 are:

5

“Everybody always misses my birthday.”

In the beginning of the episode, we flash back to “earlier that day” and Ally starts talking about how everyone always misses her birthday.  Ally is clearly in a rut because of Mr. Daddy’s infidelity, but she desperately tries to put a bright spin on everything.  Only we quickly learn that this big day for Ally actually impacts a lot of the people around her as well.

4

“Come dance with me.”

The first perspective of the episode belongs to Ida, who works very hard for Ally.  We learn that Ally’s daughter, Chloe, actually has a very close bond with Ida.  Ida even helps her “roll” out her fat so that she feels confident for her date.  After the date, Chloe is upset and feels rejected, but Ida keeps her staying positive, as the two of them dance away their worries, which is heartwarming and special.  Even though Ally is Chloe’s mother, I’m not sure that Chloe feels comfortable talking to her about her problems, but it’s nice to see that she has another woman under her roof who is there for her.

3

“I hate Judge Judy.”

During the “Ally & Mindy” portion of the episode, Ally gets a call from her son and has to pick him up from school because he is not feeling well.  Ally tries to bond with her son and suggests that they can curl up on the couch and watch television together, but her son hilariously reminds her, “I hate Judge Judy and it’s so predictable.”  Later on, Ally wants to go into a store and tries to get her son to behave and says he can buy whatever he wants at Target and that “he can shoot guns all night” as long as he remains quiet, which is not the phrase that Ally opted for.  It doesn’t look like the bonding is going anywhere, however.

2

“Thank you Miss Ally and your cheating ass husband.”

The third part of the episode is from Elsie’s perspective and she is beyond excited to go to a concert later on.  After Ally decides to replace her own refrigerator simply because it doesn’t go with the rest of the decor, she agrees to let Elsie have the discarded refrigerator, which frees up some money so that Elsie can go get her hair done in style.  Unfortunately, Elsie misses out on the concert when she gets the call from Ally to babysit Larry while Ally and Bridgette go out for her birthday, but she ends up making the most of it by dancing the night away with Mindy, while keeping a watchful eye over Larry of course.

1

“Birthday twins!”

During the Ally & Mindy portion of the episode, Mindy helps Ally in the store she works at.  Ally has been desperately trying to obtain a rare Birkin bag, which costs $23,000 and is tired of being put on the waiting list.  After discovering that Ally and Mindy share the same birthday, Mindy decides to help out Ally after being snubbed by another customer who was waiting for the bag.  Ally isn’t the kindest to Mindy either, but Mindy is still sweet to her and ends up watching Larry with Elsie when they are unable to go to the concert together.  It seems like Ally doesn’t really know how to hold on to a friend, but perhaps she should take a further look at the women around her who are always there for her.  Birthdays are a time for celebration, but we also tend to take a good hard look in the mirror at ourselves and determine where we are in our lives.  Ally may still need some time to recover over Mr. Daddy, but I think that she should take a cue from Ida, Elsie, and Mindy, who seem to make the best of their situations no matter what.  At least Ally got that Birkin bag though.  Stay tuned for more SMILF fun!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on SMILF below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 10: “Welcome to the South Side, Bitch!”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 10, I realized that merely saying you are “turning a corner” does not always mean that you will.  You may be off to a good start, but it doesn’t take much to set you off on the wrong path again.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Los Diablos!” Debbie continues to panic about running the Gallagher household and Liam tries his best to pay his fair share.  Meanwhile, Fiona winds up in a dangerous situation, an old friend of Lip’s returns, and Frank realizes that he has some steep competition in the search for the next Hobo Loco Man.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 10 are:

5

“So should we like hold hands or something?”

In this episode, Lip and Tami continue to grow closer, as they decide to take their relationship to the next level and actually hang out.  Lip tags along while Tami volunteers at a senior center and gets more than he bargained for when one of the old ladies gets a little “handsy” with him.  As Lip said, “no means no!”  Later on, Lip is in for a huge surprise when Xan shows up on his doorstep.  Xan’s mother has abandoned her again and Xan is clearly traumatized.  Tami actually handles this situation very well and is there for both Lip and Xan, proving that perhaps she is the one for Lip after all.  After watching the preview for the next episode, it looks like Lip is going to try and apply to foster Xan again, but I’m not sure if this will work out for them just yet.  Either way, I was happy to see the growth of the relationship between Lip and Tami.

4

“You know you really can’t put drug dealer or gun runner on your West Point app.”

Great point, Carl!  Carl is excited to get a new job opportunity, but it involves him being a sign spinner for popcorn shrimp while wearing a very festive pirate costume.  Carl is not thrilled about the job opportunity, especially when he gets jumped on the corner, but he is trying to stick it out as much as he can.  It looks like Carl’s new boss is a little “handsy” herself, so he may wind up in some trouble here, but we’ll have to wait and see how this pans out since it’s all hands on deck at the Gallagher home.  Savvy?

3

“Bad people wanted to turn them into sex slaves and gang members.”

“Kev, please stop talking!”  I agree, V, as Kev puts forth a valiant effort to teach his daughters a valuable lesson, but I’m not sure that they are ready to fully comprehend this subject matter.  During the episode, Santiago’s sister arrives and they explain that they will be returning back to Guatemala.  Kev is slightly disappointed, as he tried to bond with Santiago and even dressed him like him.  Kev and V’s daughters seem more than excited; however, as they drew some interesting pictures depicting Santiago’s violent death, which Kev and V might want to be slightly concerned about.

2

“They’re looking for someone with no purpose in life.”

I mean, if this is a calling for anyone, it’s for our guy, Frank Gallagher.  Debbie even hilariously points out that if it involves alcohol, they should just give the prize to Frank.  Frank is beyond excited to participate in the competition to become the next Hobo Loco Man, but he quickly realizes that he is not the only one with some pretty impressive skills in the group.  I’m not really sure that we can classify this as healthy competition, as some of the activities involve eating food out of a dumpster and chugging endless amounts of Hobo Loco and alcohol.  The Hobo Loco man is trending everywhere, but my money is still on Frank winning it all.  Place your bets now!

1

“Welcome to the South Side, Bitch!”

In the beginning of the episode, Fiona winds up in a dangerous situation when three men show up late at night at Patsy’s Pies.  Fiona is unsure if they want to rob her or hurt her, but ends up closing early and calling the police.  While Fiona had a right to be scared in this situation, her drinking problem has become quite routine and others are taking notice as well.  Fiona is ready to “turn a corner,” but is fired for her behavior, which only drives her right back to the alcohol.  Fiona has no job, but she tries to stay positive.  While Fiona may be out of control, at least she is not “having a tea party with stuffed animals,” like Ingrid.  Seriously, that comment had me laughing hysterically.  Later on, Fiona is beyond upset when she finds out that her new neighbor called the cops on Liam when he was trying to sell lemonade.  Fiona rounds up the troops and they throw an intrusive block party to officially welcome their new neighbor to the South Side.  Only Fiona takes it a little bit too far when she jumps the woman’s fence and punches her straight in the face.  While the woman may have deserved it, Fiona winds up getting arrested, so things are only going to get crazier for the Gallaghers.  Stay tuned and congrats to Shameless for being renewed for season 10!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “SMILF” season 2 episode 2: “Well Change Hurts”

Greetings TV viewers!  After watching Showtime’s SMILF season 2  episode 2 last night, I was reminded that Third Eye Blind’s song, “How’s It Going to Be,” can really get you through a lot.  It may not solve your issues overnight, but I have to agree with Tutu’s choice of soundtrack here.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Sorry Mary, I’m Losing Faith,” Bridgette gets asked out on a date, but realizes that she may not be ready for such a big step.  Meanwhile, Tutu tries to deal with her own grief, and Ally tries to pick up the pieces of her marriage.  My top 5 moments from the SMILF season 2 episode 2 are:

5

“Well change hurts.”

In the beginning of the episode, Bridgette decides to get her basketball tattoo covered up because it reminds her of her father.  The tattoo artist reminds her that “change hurts,” but sometimes change can be just what we need, as he spontaneously asks Bridgette out on a date.  Bridgette says yes and seems genuinely excited about it, but now she needs to find someone to watch Larry.

4

“You planned a scavenger hunt?”

When Bridgette drops off Larry to Rafi, he explains that he cannot watch him during her date because he has his own romantic evening planned for his girlfriend, which involves a scavenger hunt around the city leading to a nice dinner.  The idea is actually pretty clever, but Bridgette is not amused, as she starts to realize that her own potential romantic evening may now be put on hold.

3

“You’re fired.”

After finding a sitter for Larry, thanks to Ally, Bridgette agrees to go out with Ally before her date, but Ally is an emotional mess right now after finding out that her husband has a mistress.  Ally surprisingly fires Bridgette because she can’t have another woman around the house anymore, but still wants to be friends.  Bridgette seems open to the idea, but will Ally have a change of heart?  After all, it seems like Bridgette does make a difference with her kids.

2

“I’m Team Ally.”

Well sure, Bridgette, maybe you are Team Ally, but I’m not sure that following her advice about taking a Xanax is necessarily the best idea before your big date.  Bridgette is definitely more relaxed now, but ends up bailing on her date, realizing that she is not ready for this big step in her life just yet.

1

“I’m really worried about the future for my kid and my future too I guess.”

At the end of the episode, Bridgette ends up walking into a church and helping herself to some church wine, as she has a heart-to-heart talk with the statue of Mary.  Bridgette opens up about some of her fears and doubts, but ends up stealing the statue to set her free.  While I’m not sure this is the wisest decision, luckily Rafi ends up picking Bridgette up and helping her.  I don’t know if these two are meant to end up together or not, but it’s nice to see that Rafi is trying to be there for Bridgette and Larry.  Although I’m not really sure what Bridgette is going to do with the statue of Mary now?  Stay tuned for more SMILF fun!

I am so excited to announce that my book, The Search for Alice, is now available!  If you enjoy fairy-tale retellings, paranormal romance, horror, and mystery, then this might be the book for you or someone you know!  Thank you for taking the time to check it out and I appreciate any feedback as well.  I hope you enjoy!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.
