Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 10 episode 7: “Citizen Carl”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 10 episode 7, I realized that the Gallaghers may not always have it all together, but they do pull off some pretty impressive plans along the way.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not watched the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Citizen Carl,” Carl decides to become an active citizen to clean up the streets of Southside.  Meanwhile, Tami and Lip have a shitty adventure, Debbie and Megan go out to celebrate, and Frank meets an interesting new stranger.

My top 5 moments from Shameless season 10 episode 7 are:

5

“Big score.  Fresh dead guy.”

After a customer named Billy is found dead at The Alibi, Frank sheds quite a few fake tears while taking his wallet and keys.  Frank is quite the actor, but he ends up trying to steal as many things as he can from poor dead Billy while giving quite the inspiring eulogy.

Meanwhile, Frank meets a beautiful stranger played by Orange Is the New Black’s Elizabeth Rodriguez.  It looks like she is a woman of mystery herself, but has Frank finally met his match?

4

“We killed Billy…”

After the coroners take Billy away, Kev and V start to wonder if they are responsible for his death since they continued to serve him alcohol.  This guilt lasts for only about a minute, as they start to realize a real problem…that Billy was a major part of their revenue.

Kev and V realize that they will need to bring in some new customers to make up for Billy and stoop pretty low, posing as “Teronica and Tevin” at an AA meeting.  V starts to feel really bad when some of the members actually show up, but the money seems to be rolling in for now.

3

“Here’s your demon child.”

Debbie’s plan works like a charm, as Peppa drops off Fake Franny (Bella) and the check, claiming she never wants to see her again.  Debbie takes some time for herself to celebrate by going out for drinks with Megan.  Megan explains that they need to find some new potential baby daddies with a lot of cash to prepare for when the money runs out, but Debbie is not really feeling it.

Rather, she meets a female stranger at the bar and they really hit it off.  Only Debbie is mistaken for a prostitute and is left a rather large tip in cash on the dresser.  Did Debbie just find a sugar mama or could this lead to a potential relationship?

2

“Little domestic bitches…”

Ian and Mickey (Gallavich) continue to be absolutely adorable together, but it’s time for Mickey to try out his new job…in retail.  Mickey actually rocks the headset and polo shirt with class and even runs after a shoplifter, asking her why she stole such an “ugly piece of shit,” which was probably the funniest part of the episode for me.

Ian’s crazy PO, Paula, makes an arrangement; however, and now Mickey is working for her too.  It looks like Ian and Mickey are going to be dealing with some crazy stuff together, but at least they have each other.

Shameless Season 10 Episode 7 2

So much for Mickey’s future in retail…

1

“Shit’s gotta change.”

After meeting an elderly woman named Esther at the bus stop, Carl gets on his bus, but witnesses her get mugged and shot.  The bus refuses to let him off to go and help, but Carl is not going to forget this anytime soon.

Shameless Season 10 episode 7 1

Carl is outraged that the city won’t replace the streetlights at the bus stop and decides to recruit Kelly and her high maintenance friend so that they can get the city to pay attention.

Apparently Anne moved?  OK…moving on.

Kelly and her friend shoot an Insta story while Carl pretends to mug them and the plan is a success, as the city now replaces the streetlights.  Good job, Citizen Carl!  Esther would be proud.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 10 episode 6: “I’m Glad I Didn’t Sell You”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 10 episode 6, Frank reminded us that “there’s no room for sentiment in business,” but perhaps one should change the rules when it comes to your own children.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not watched the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Adios Gringos,” Frank and Liam work together to obtain the highest bid for Ingrid’s baby.  Meanwhile, Tami and Lip continue to argue, V forgets the electric slide, and Carl leads Anne’s family to victory.

My top 5 moments from Shameless season 10 episode 6 are:

5

“What are you doing here?”

Luckily, Ian and Mickey don’t have to be separated for too long, as Mickey gets released from prison as well.  Mickey has Larry as his parole officer and he initially jumps off his bus thinking he is being followed, which was beyond hilarious.  Later on, we get a nice reunion between Ian and Mickey.

Meanwhile, Ian tries to help a pregnant woman in need of medical help, which goes against the rules of his insurance scam job.  His parole officer is not too pleased and almost offers Ian’s privates up as a snack for her dog, Biscuit.  Ian makes it out of there OK, but will he really be able to stay on the sidelines without helping people in need?

4

“Apparently I’ve raised a great kid.”

Deb is not giving up without getting her check, but she doesn’t want to hand Franny over to Peppa without a plan.  Debbie asks Franny to be bad, but Franny tries to tell her mother that she is a good girl.

Debbie realizes that she will need to find a stand-in for Franny to play the part and meets two sisters, Bella and Stella, who need Foster parents.  Stella blackmails Debbie, but she goes for it, realizing that she is desperate.  Peppa falls for it and the “new Franny” begins to wreak havoc and even sets a fire, so it looks like Deb’s plan is working like a charm.

3

“I’m glad I didn’t sell you.  You’re fun.”

Frank teams up with Liam in this episode to find the highest bidder for Ingrid’s baby, but Frank actually begins to bond with both Liam and his grandson.  Liam has to take over, reminding Frank about his own business motto, but it looks like they are both out of luck when one of the couples actually kidnaps the baby.

I’m not sure if we will circle back to this plot or not, but hopefully the baby is all right!  Either way, I enjoyed the screen time for Frank and Liam and perhaps we will get to see more business schemes from them in the future, but maybe they should stick to goods rather than people.

2

“I almost passed my battle strategy class.”

Well, I guess that makes Carl an expert on war, as he tries to help Anne’s family when some cowboy competitors show up to steal their tamales.  I almost felt like we were in the wild wild west at one point, but Carl does his best to motivate everyone, even though his plan falls through.

In the end, they are able to make some serious cash serving meatless tamales in a boujee part of town, but things are also heating up between Carl and Anne, as they finally kiss while making tamales.  It’s about time!

1

“I think we’re together.”

Tami continues to struggle with motherhood, but she also gets extremely jealous of Lip and Sarah and decides to even the score.  Tami has a meltdown and tells Lip that she feels like she can’t breathe in their house, which inspires him to get an RV for them in the backyard.

At least it’s a start and these two finally admit that they are together, so we’ll have to see how this relationship goes, but baby Freddy is adorable so hopefully this will give him a calmer environment!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 10 episode 5: “Hopefully It’s The Last Welcome Home From Prison Party We’ll Ever Throw”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 10 episode 5, Debbie reminded us that “when there’s money involved, a Gallagher’s got nothing but time.”

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Sparky,” Ian returns home from prison, but is slightly confused when he walks into his old home.  Meanwhile, Tami adjusts to motherhood, Kev has a disturbing reunion, and Debbie refuses to back down when it comes to Derek’s death benefit.

My top 5 moments from Shameless season 10 episode 5 are:

5

“What’s with you and J. Lo?”

Kelly has returned for 48 hours, but she is already attempting to claim her territory, recognizing that Carl may have feelings for Anne.  Anne doesn’t seem too bothered by what is going on, reminding Carl that she is no one’s side piece.

After discovering that Kelly has been with a guy named Mitch and is now in some serious need of Penicillin, Carl has an honest talk with her.  Kelly doesn’t say that she wants to break up with Carl, but it looks like he is free to take some time to see how things go with Anne.

Personally, I think Anne is the better choice, but we’ll have to see how this goes.

4

“I like your style.”

V has definitely discovered a hidden talent, rocking her power suit with pride when she goes off to her new side job to “deal drugs,” as Kev hilariously says.  V is quite convincing and comes up with one sob story after another to compensate for her lack of knowledge about the medical drugs.

When V meets with the last doctor of the day, she can see right through her bullshit, but tells V that she likes her style and invites her to the cookout, which will be the ultimate place for V to connect with even more doctors.

It looks like V is on her way to fast success and she deserves it!

3

“Share the joy.”

Ingrid’s ex-husband returns with Frank’s babies and he tries to make a run for it, now finally admitting that the babies are actually Carl’s.  Anne’s family hilariously hangs on to every word, turning this into a real life telenovela, translating that it is “an immaculate conception and the stupid one is the father.”  I’d say that is a fair recap for sure.

After trying to escape this burden, Frank has a change of heart and suddenly sees dollar signs, recognizing that he can sell one of the babies on the black market.

After all, ‘tis the season to share the joy…Gallagher style!

2

“You’ve been served, bitch!”

Debbie is extremely motivated to obtain Derek’s death benefit, but her lawyer, Patti, who turns out not to be a real lawyer, but she did pass most of her classes, says they are having trouble serving Peppa with the papers.

Debbie attempts to deliver the papers to Peppa, but Peppa continues to outrun her, which forces Debbie to get some backup in Megan and Farhad.  This leads to an eventful high speed chase, where Debbie finally serves Peppa the papers, stuffing them in her mouth.

Only it looks like Peppa is not ready to be fooled, hiring her own military lawyers.  She explains that she will give Franny her portion of the death benefit, but now she wants full custody of her.

Watch out, Debbie.  Money isn’t everything…

1

“Welcome home Ian!”

When Ian first returns home from prison, he is thrown off by Anne’s family in his home.  After having some interesting adventures as “Sparky” during his new EMT job, it looks like he may have some adjusting to do, but his family comes through for him in the end by throwing him a worthy welcome home party.  They even light a burning van on his cake!

With Fiona’s absence, Ian’s presence is really important here, but it looks like he is in for his fair share of drama, as Mickey may be breaking out in next week’s episode?  After all, love knows no bounds.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 10 episode 4: “Money Sandwiches with Gravy on Top”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 10 episode 4, Frank reminded us that sometimes you have to “look the part,” but it’s important to still recognize who you are at the end of the day.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “A Little Gallagher Goes a Long Way,” Frank helps Mikey embrace his dream for the day.  Meanwhile, Lip and Carl grow closer to their new friends, but how will Tami and Kelly react when they return?

My top 5 moments from Shameless season 10 episode 4 are:

5

“Look at you two.  Like two friends from that old show…Friends!”

“Only no black friends or Asian friends,” as V and Mimi kindly point out to Kev, but it looks like this is the start of a beautiful friendship for these two and possibly a business partnership?

V and Mimi are getting along quite well and don’t seem to be too bothered when they throw insults back and forth, but Mimi is beyond thrilled when V comes up with an idea to help her with her business.

Mimi asks V to come and work for her as a side hustle of her very own, but it’s dangerous to mix business and friendship…

Either way, at least Kev has his own side hustle going on still!

4

“Oh shit, you’re serious.”

While dealing with the strike at work, Debbie suddenly realizes that she needs to find another way to make money…fast.  She runs into an old friend, Megan, at the supermarket and learns that Megan is doing just fine, even though she has a lot of kids.

Megan explains the importance of collecting child support and Debbie decides to knock on Derek’s door, but finds out from his wife that he is dead.

Debbie tries to collect the death benefit for Franny, but discovers that nothing was left for her.  All is not lost; however, as Megan introduces Debbie to her lawyer, Patti, who seems up for the challenge.

Debbie has experienced the good life with her She Shed and it doesn’t look like she is going to let up here until she gets her money.  Just don’t forget about Franny’s future college fund…

3

“I know who I am.”

Liam begins to have his doubts about Mavar, even though he has been very welcoming to Liam.  After talking it over with Kev, Liam starts to wonder if Mavar is in a cult.

It looks like Liam’s quest to find himself has ended; now finally realizing that he knows who he is and he’s happy with it.

I guess you’re a Gallagher after all, Liam!  Welcome back!

2

“This is a safe space.”

Lip decides to join the safe space for new moms and the female members are extremely enthusiastic to have him join.  Lip starts to bond with his new friend more and more, learning that baby Freddy should be self-sufficient.

I think perhaps his new friend has a point, but I’m not sure baby Freddy or Lip are ready for swim lessons just yet.

There definitely seems to be a vibe here, but Tami walks in at the end of the episode to break up the party, along with Kelly, so both Lip and Carl may need to figure out where their hearts truly lie…

I have to say that I think Carl and Anne are adorable though!

1

“We’re the wish granters!”

Mikey reveals his dream about becoming a businessman and Frank decides to make his dream come true, although he takes quite a few shortcuts to make this happen.  Frank explains the importance of dressing for success and it seems like they are in for quite the adventure, but Mikey realizes at the end of the episode that he needs to go to prison so that he can get quality healthcare.

It looks like this is the end of our favorite partnership for now.  I have to say that this may be one of the only times I have ever seen Frank truly connect with someone.  He shows glimmers here and there that he can be caring, but his friendship with Mikey seemed to spark his potential for goodness.

Although, I have a feeling that Frank will return to his old ways as soon as drama comes knocking on his door and it looks like it is going to in the next episode.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 10 episode 3: “Secret She Shed Down by the Sea Shore”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 10 episode 3, Frank reminded us, “Ask me no questions, I will tell you no lies,” but there’s always a question regarding Frank’s methods.  Please note spoilers are ahead.

In tonight’s episode, “Which America?” Liam meets Mavar, who seems willing to help him find his identity.  Meanwhile, Ian and Mickey learn the importance of having the talk, Debbie sparks a union a little bit too soon, and Carl grows closer to Anne.

My top 5 moments from Shameless season 10 episode 3 are:

5

“No holla…never holla.”

After Liam continues to search for answers about his identity and heritage, he crosses paths with a used car salesman named Mavar, played by Anthony Alabi.  Mavar thinks that Liam definitely needs some guidance and decides to take him under his wing.

It looks like Liam may have finally found a good influence and perhaps Mavar is a new friend for V too!

4

“It was like taking candy from a baby.”

Business is booming for Carl and Anne, as everyone is lining up to order some extra tartar sauce.  Carl begins to have second thoughts about his long distance relationship with Kelly and decides to get closer to Anne, who invites him over for tamales.

Carl claims he makes the best tamales, but it’s clear that Anne’s family is not too impressed, but is this the start of a new romance for Carl?

I’m not sure how his boss is going to take it…

3

“I think we need to have a talk.”

After Ian finds out that he is up for a parole meeting, everyone asks if he has had “the talk” with Mickey.  Mickey got thrown in jail for Ian and it seems like he wants Ian to stay with him, but Mickey has a change of heart, realizing that sometimes you just have to “let her go,” or let him go in this case.

Mickey does the right thing and stops Ian from making a huge mistake and even gets him a phone to use so he can face time Lip and baby Freddy.

Now that’s love!

2

“Friendship with a really great lady.”

Kev continues his “side hustle” business, but only if you know the secret password:  Alibi Side Hustle.  It’s not really too subtle, but Kev seems to be making out quite well by selling some stolen goods on the side.

After Kev meets Mavar, he is motivated to immediately find a new best friend for V and decides to reach out to potential new friends on Tinder, which definitely sends some mixed signals.

After holding his own version of The Bachelor, Kev narrows down his choices, but V helps him break up the party, apologizing to the women.

Although it looks like Kev’s plan might have actually been a success, as number 42, Mimi, falls asleep at the bar and V realizes that they actually have a lot in common.  I’m not sure anyone can really fill Fiona’s shoes at this point, but I’m glad that V has found someone else to confide in.

1

“I haven’t used my real social since draft dodging in 69!”

Debbie screws up when she uses everyone’s real social security numbers to open up their ATM cards, which makes everyone extremely angry.  Mikey decides to show Frank Debbie’s secret she shed and he is impressed, but ends up taking everything to help pay Mikey’s vet bill…don’t get me started on that one.

When Debbie discovers that everything is gone, she is more than angry and decides to hunt down Frank with a Taser.  Look out, Frank!  Debbie’s coming for you!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 10 episode 2: “This Is Like Rich People Christmas!”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 10 episode 2, Debbie reminded us that “you only pull wings off a fly because you feel dead inside.”  A tad morbid, but perhaps she is right, as we learn that having power over someone isn’t always the answer.

In tonight’s episode, “Sleep Well My Prince For Tomorrow You Shall Be King,” Debbie isn’t the only one scamming the system, as Kev and V stumble upon a “scamazon” that they can’t turn down.  Meanwhile, Lip adjusts to fatherhood, Carl finds a new potential business partner, and Liam continues to search for his identity.

My top 5 moments from Shameless season 10 episode 2 are:

5

“What happened to us?”

Ian and Mickey are back this season!

Only it seems like there may be trouble in paradise, as one of our favorite ships on the show are having trouble adjusting to being cellmates.  Ian and Mickey are fighting like old ladies and are desperate to get some kind of a break so they don’t kill each other.

Let’s hope these two can work things out, but it’s nice to see some familiar faces back on the show!

4

“I think you broke my leg!”

Frank and Mikey realize that they need to come up with a fast way to make some money before Debbie kicks them to the curb.  They try to scam some uber drivers, but end up hitting a snag when both drivers see right through their act.

Frank and Mikey better “get fresh” if they want to score some real cash, but is Frank about to take back his role as the head of the household?

I mean, I’m not sure that he ever really was in charge…

3

“This is like rich people Christmas!”

Kev and V continue to bring the laughs and are the highlight of the new season so far for me.  After Kev tries to return his new shoes, the delivery man ends up choking himself out while having his way with himself in the bathroom.

Kev and V are not exactly pleased to have a dead guy in their bathroom, but this does lead to a “scamazon” of their very own, as they decide to ransack his truck, bringing joy to all…along with a lot of free stuff!

At the end of the episode, we learn that the delivery guy is not actually dead, but he doesn’t seem too surprised to wake up on the bathroom floor…

2

“You’re like a walking PSA to wear a condom.”

Liam may have a valid point here, but Lip is trying his best to adjust to being a new dad.  We meet baby Freddy, as Lip is thrown right into parenthood.  It looks like Lip has a lot to learn, but I’m confident that he will be an amazing dad.

We still do not know Tami’s fate just yet so I’m curious to see how this story will unfold, but it looks like Lip’s life is about to change forever.

1

“You just want to feel like you have power over me…”

Debbie tries to return her first pair of shoes and is in for a surprise when the salesman takes out a black light to inspect them.  Debbie certainly didn’t account for that, but is beyond desperate to get her money back.

The shoe salesman blackmails her, but Debbie ends up turning the tables on him, regaining the power he tried to take away from her.  Debbie lucks out and gets to keep the shoes and her money, but she’s not out of trouble just yet, as Mikey follows her to her She Shed.

Mikey blackmails Debbie as well, but he is looking to have Frank be the head of the family again.  Debbie comes to the realization that perhaps she was also trying to have power over her family because she felt bad about herself, handing over ATM cards to her brothers and telling Frank that he can be the leader if he wants, claiming that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Now that Frank is in charge, I have a feeling that things are going to get even crazier, but we’ll have to see how this goes.  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 10 episode 1 Season Premiere: “I’m Not Fiona!”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 10 episode 1 season premiere, I realized that everyone deserves to feel special every once and a while, but is Debbie really able to fill Fiona’s shoes?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In tonight’s episode, “We Few, We Lucky Few, We band of Gallaghers,” Debbie tries to keep the family in line, which is no easy task.  Meanwhile, Lip’s world is about to change, Carl graduates from military school, and Frank reunites with his former partner in crime.  My top 5 moments from the Shameless season 10 episode 1 season premiere are:

5

“Enjoy it while you can…”

Lip and Tami seem to be getting along quite well during the season premiere.  Tami is heavily pregnant and Lip is slightly confused by how nice she is all the time, but explains it is coming from the hormones.  Lip is warned that this will not last once the baby comes, but is he ready for his life to completely change?

Now that Fiona is gone, Lip should be stepping into the spotlight more, so I’m interested to see how his story and character progresses in the new season.

4

“He’s stealing my drugs!”

Frank is at it again!  Once he discovers that his doctor is not going to prescribe him anything else after his leg injury heals, Frank is forced to get creative.  He hangs out at a pharmacy and bumps into an elderly woman, stealing her prescription in the process.

The old woman shouts out for the police and Frank decides to make a run for it, but he ends up bumping into his old pal, Mikey, from the Hobo Loco Man challenge.  It looks like Mikey might be hanging around for a while and I’m sure these two will come up with some pretty outrageous schemes along the way.

3

“I deserve to feel special!”

In the beginning of the episode, Debbie tries to do her best to take care of the family, even creating a chart on how to use Fiona’s money wisely.  Debbie points out that she is not Fiona and she’s not wrong about that, as I did feel a void during the episode, missing my favorite character from the show quite a bit.

Debbie does decide to have some special time for herself, as we discover that she is keeping a hidden storage locker filled with expensive and extravagant clothes and accessories.  She plans on returning everything after a few uses, including her new underwear…

I have to say that I would love to go shopping in Debbie’s storage locker, but you have to wonder if this plan is going to backfire, which will leave her in quite a mess…

2

“I’m that guy now…”

Kev starts to come to the realization that he’s that guy now…the old guy on the basketball court and he immediately blames the sneakers he is wearing.  V hilariously tells him that he cannot spend $350 on a new pair of sneakers, which motivates Kev to make his own money.

Kev decides to return to his former days of stripping, only he discovers that he is actually filling in on Daddy’s Night.  Either way, Kev certainly makes an impression on the crowd after hilariously being introduced as Captain Crunch.  It looks like that Testosterone Smoothie may have made all the difference!

At the end of the episode, Kev is sporting his new sneakers with pride, but he still can’t make a shot on the basketball court, so I guess it’s back to square one…

1

“It’s a boy…”

Tami begins to go into labor and Lip rushes over to the hospital.  She ends up having an emergency c-section and Lip meets his new son, who is absolutely adorable.  However, things take a drastic turn when Tami is taken into emergency surgery as well and her life is clearly in danger.

Will Tami be OK?

I actually really like Lip with Tami, but I’m starting to wonder if we are meant to follow his solo journey into fatherhood.  We’ll have to see how this turns out, but I’m really worried about Tami.

Fiona does call during the episode, as we see a missed call from her in the beginning and then we can assume that Debbie is talking to her later when they all meet Lip’s son, but her presence was needed here.

While I love the other characters on this show, I have always said that Fiona was the heart and soul of Shameless, so it will be interesting to see if they can keep the audience invested without her.

That being said, I thought the season premiere had a lot of potential and I’m interested to see some of these story-lines developed more over the coming season.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Affair” season 5 episode 11: “The Whole Of The Moon”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s The Affair season 5 episode 11 series finale, the show has come full circle, reminding us that sometimes “time has a habit of making big things seem small,” but when all is said and done, it’s about the moments of love that you truly remember.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In tonight’s episode, “511,” the Solloway family prepares for Whitney’s wedding day.  Meanwhile, Joanie returns to The Lobster Roll and crosses paths with a surprising stranger.  My top 5 moments from The Affair season 5 episode 11 series finale are:

5

“There is such a thing as forgiveness.”

In the series finale, the parts no longer appear, but we still get to see sections marked for Noah, Helen, Joanie, and Whitney.  As Joanie tries to decide what to do next, EJ tells her he wants her to run away with him, revealing that he is actually Sierra’s grown up son, Eddie.  I have to say that I actually didn’t make that connection before and I thought this was an interesting twist.

Even though EJ may not be Joanie’s epic love, he did help her on this journey, reminding her that it is possible to choose love over trauma.  It looks like Joanie is going to have to make her next decisions for herself, but I thought that EJ was an important part of her journey and I appreciated the connection.

4

“I just want you to be happy.”

During Helen’s section, Whitney continues to be very difficult on her wedding day.  Whitney sticks to her decision and doesn’t want Noah there on her big day, but Helen is trying to figure out why she is even there.  Helen’s mother walks in and there is a lot of tension between them all, but when it comes down to it, they all care about one another and show up when it matters.

Helen tells her daughter that she looks perfect and I loved seeing her hold Whitney’s hand while walking her down the aisle.  Even though Whitney has been very hard on her mother, claiming she doesn’t want to be like her, they both finally put everything aside here and just focus on this moment of happiness, which was simple and well done.

3

“My parents were an odd couple.”

I thought it was beyond adorable that Noah remembered Whitney talking about a flash mob surprise at her wedding and actually followed through on it to make her happy, even though he wouldn’t be at the wedding to see it.  The flash mob was done to the song, “The Whole Of The Moon,” which you can listen to below!

The dance really made me smile and it was well received by Whitney, but she is shocked when she later finds out that her dad put everything together.  I was so happy that Whitney had a change of heart, deciding to get her whole family together to go surprise their dad with some wedding cake.  Even Bruce’s moment in the spotlight to provide them with a distraction was amazing.

Things get a little bit awkward when they show up and Whitney discovers that Helen is in there too, making up for lost time with Noah.  And so, they all gather outside to eat the wedding cake.  This moment was a little strange, but I was glad that Whitney finally realized that her father has been there for her the whole time even though he has made some past mistakes.

Even though the show focuses so much on Noah and his decisions with the women in his life, there has always been this element of family present and I thought it was important that his whole family was back together here.

2

“You were her whole life.”

After Joanie discovers that Noah was the old man she was talking to at The Lobster Roll, she returns to finish their conversation.  This conversation was so important and meaningful for Joanie and it really helped fill in some blanks.  Noah talks about how he respected Cole and how Cole always suspected that Ben killed Alison, which Joanie was not aware of.

Noah also tells Joanie about how much Alison changed, feeling everything so deeply, and how much she truly cared for Joanie.  Joanie spent so much of her life not knowing the whole story, but she now finally gets to see her mother through Noah’s eyes.

Joanie’s journey is not over; however, as she makes the decision to return to her husband and family, realizing that she has the chance to make things right and I think this was the right call.

Overall, I enjoyed learning about Joanie’s character and I thought this was a clever way to allow Cole and Alison’s story to continue as well, even though they were both not a part of the final season.  Like Noah said, sometimes the children need to finish the journey their parents started.

1

“Will you dance with me on our daughter’s wedding day?”

During Whitney’s wedding, Helen attempts to send Noah the video of the flash mob, but ends up deciding to bring it to him in person.  Helen opens up to Noah and says that she feels like she isn’t really present anywhere, revealing that she does still love him.

Maybe these two aren’t necessarily good for each other, but they both have a lot of love for one another and their family.  Noah asks Helen to dance with him, which was probably one of the sweetest moments I have witnessed with them and they end up reconciling.

In the future, we see Noah reading Stacey’s novel to Helen at her grave, suggesting that these two have been present in each other’s lives until the very end of their journey.  Helen’s name appears as Solloway on her tombstone, which implies that they were married again, but I guess that’s up to the viewer’s interpretation.

We are left with Noah hiking up to the bluffs, deciding to whip out the flash mob dance again after all these years, finally smiling.  It looks like Noah Solloway has redeemed himself, discovering who he really is while re-connecting with the ones in his life who matter the most.

Overall, I thought this was an emotional and well done series finale.  I shed quite a few tears and I appreciated how everything came full circle.  It’s interesting how this show has transformed over the seasons.  While I still prefer the first two seasons of the show, I think that season 5 did a great job of summing everything up, while reminding us to focus on the moments of love that truly matter in the end.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Affair below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Affair” season 5 episode 10: “If You Fall, I’ll Catch You”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s The Affair season 5 episode 10, Noah was reminded that “if you move you live, if you stay you die,” but he truly puts this saying to the test when he and Helen wind up in a very dangerous situation.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In tonight’s episode, “510,” the wildfire continues to spread, as Helen and Noah are forced to evacuate before it is too late.  Meanwhile, Whitney refuses to forgive her father and Noah takes a trip down memory lane, bringing everything full circle.  My top 5 moments from The Affair season 5 episode 10 are:

5

“I would do anything to undo what happened.”

Part one of the episode follows Helen, as she tries to console her daughter, but Whitney now says that she doesn’t want Noah at her wedding.  Helen reminds Noah that he can’t run away from this and that they are a family, but is Helen co-depending on Noah too much here?

Helen continues to ask Noah about the hot tub incident, reminding him that he traumatized his daughter and failed to mention it.  Noah tells Helen that he would do anything to take it back and that he was finally getting somewhere with Whitney in Montauk, but it now seems like he is back where he started.  Let’s hope this gets resolved before the wedding…

4

“I think you and I are worth it.”

Helen ends up going to Noah’s place to find Whitney’s birth certificate and stumbles across an old letter that Noah wrote to her right before their own wedding.  Noah’s letter was truly touching, telling Helen that he was excited to spend every single day with her, grateful that she was going to be his wife.

It seemed like perhaps these two were going to find some common ground, but Noah pushes Helen away after they are told to evacuate.  Helen tells him that she hopes he burns, but it’s clear that Noah is feeling beyond defeated and depressed in this moment.  Snap out of it, Noah!

3

“Do you remember seeing him for the first time?”

Part two of the episode follows Noah and he finds a recording from Alison’s deposition.  Everything comes full circle, as Alison’s voice comes over the speaker, setting the tone as a dark and stormy night.

Alison is asked, “Do you remember seeing him for the first time?” reminding me of the question that started it all, hooking me on to the show in the first place.  We are presented with several flashbacks of Noah meeting Alison and some of Noah with Helen as well, as Noah remembers from the recording what it was like to be happy.

There was a time that he was happy with both Helen and Alison at different times and perhaps he needs to remember that he still has a chance to find that happiness again.  The concept of family comes up several times throughout the episode and I think this is what Noah really needs to focus on in order to truly be redeemed.

2

“I need you.”

Part three of the episode is from Noah and Helen’s perspective and I think this might be the first time we see a joint section.  Noah hears from a neighbor that the fire is spreading very quickly and Noah rushes out to go and help Helen.  Helen initially wants to stay in the car, but Noah says that they have to move, recognizing the immediate danger they are in.

They end up hiking to get to a fire route Noah knows about, but get stuck at a cliff.  Noah is able to climb down and coaches Helen through it, proving to be somewhat of a hero here.  Although Helen is clearly sick of his “movement is life” motto.

After avoiding this disaster, these two actually take some time to be open and honest with one another.  I think this may be the first time I have witnessed such an honest conversation on both sides, which I thought was necessary since we are approaching the end of the series.

1

“Hi friend.”

Part four of the episode is from Noah’s perspective.  Right before this, Helen ends up bit by a rattle snake to make things even more dramatic, but Noah refuses to leave her side, actually carrying her down the road.  Luckily, they are picked up by an emergency vehicle and it looks like Helen is going to be all right.  Phew!  When Helen wakes up, she says, “Hi friend,” to Noah.

These two have certainly been on quite the adventure, but I thought this journey was more about their own lives together.  They revisit who they used to be and who they are now, reminding us that perhaps there is still a new path for their family that includes both of them.

How will it all end?  Stay tuned for the series finale next week!
