Ranking the top 5 moments from “Younger” season 6 episode 9: “Millennial isn’t an age. It’s an attitude!”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching TV Land’s Younger season 6 episode 9, I realized that maintaining a positive spin on everything isn’t necessarily a bad thing to do, but when you say “there’s no place to go but up,” are you really just asking for trouble?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Millennial’s Next Top Model,” Liza deals with the consequences surrounding her recent age reveal, but is she ready to be in the spotlight?  Meanwhile, Kelsey and Zane finally discuss their feelings for one another and Maggie samples a “talent crush.”  My top 5 moments from Younger season 6 episode 9 are:

5

“Guess what…I’m a flipper too!”

Maggie deserves some screen time and she definitely gets her fair share in this episode, keeping us laughing hysterically.  During an art exhibition, Maggie meets a “talent crush,” who is a man and decides to change things up.  Is she truly just sampling the opposite sex or is there something more here?

Well, we don’t have to wait too long for an answer, as Maggie agrees to a date with her talent crush and learns that he is actually a “flipper,” taking a little too much satisfaction in trying to convince lesbians to sleep with him.  Well he’s in for a surprise since Maggie is somewhat of a flipper too, deciding to flip the table before she makes her exit.  Go Maggie!

4

“We want YOU to be the face and legs of Infinitely 21.”

After Liza’s true age is revealed, it seems like the business is in big trouble, but Liza continues to stand up for herself, which is impressive.  After Infinitely 21 initially wants to freeze their partnership with Millennial, they have second thoughts when Liza reminds them, “Millennial isn’t an age…it’s an attitude!”  Go Liza!  It looks like Liza has sparked something even greater here, as Infinitely 21 decides to make her their new model.  Age really is just a number and Liza continues to break boundaries, reminding us that she is strong, beautiful, and capable.

3

“What did you really think when I said I love you?”

Finally!  A real and true moment for Kelsey and Zane.  I have been waiting for something like this for two seasons!  Zane is clearly hurt after he discovers that Kelsey knew about Liza’s age and kept it from him.  Kelsey decides to head over to Zane’s place for a peace offering and offers to cook him dinner and Zane hilariously asks her, “Do you know what a peace offering is?”

Kelsey’s cooking skills may leave a lot to be desired, but this does allow one of my favorite ships to finally have a real heart-to-heart talk, discussing their feelings for one another.  Kelsey and Zane realize that honesty is the best policy and it looks like their love is out in the open now.  Swoon!

2

“I would have believed anything she said.”

Josh decides to visit Liza during her photo shoot and starts talking about his first impressions of Liza, which were beyond adorable and sweet.  Josh says, “She was smart and sexy.  I would have believed anything she said.  I just wanted to keep talking to her.”  Liza is clearly touched here and so is the head of Infinitely 21, who decides to have her cameraman take some natural shots of Josh and Liza without them realizing.

I have to admit that the photo chosen was pretty amazing, but I think I would have preferred a Charliza photo!  Either way, once everyone sees this billboard, it’s safe to say that there may be a lot of drama headed in Charliza’s direction.  After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.

1

“Fire her!”

Quinn returns and acts like she is perfectly OK with the revelation of Liza’s age and decides to use it to make herself look good for her own political campaign. Only the plan backfires when Liza tells the reporter that Quinn knew about the lie previously off the record, which later blows up in Quinn’s face on camera.

Quinn is far from pleased and tells Kelsey to fire Liza, but Kelsey stands her ground.  Go Kelsey!  Quinn means business; however, as she pulls her funding and checks immediately start bouncing.  Charles is working on getting some new investors, but will the company be able to survive the fallout from Liza’s lie? Stay tuned!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Terror: Infamy” on AMC: A Faint Flicker of Ghostly Potential

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

“There’s something evil…I can feel it.”  Well perhaps it is the real life terror that these characters are facing in the midst of World War II, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for some supernatural occurrences too.  Or does it?

The Terror is a historical drama horror anthology series on AMC. The second season will feature 10 episodes and it premiered on August 12th 2019.  The Terror: Infamy looks deeper into the real life horror that Japanese-Americans went through during World War II, leading up to Pearl Harbor.  It stars Derek Mio, Kiki Suzekane, Shingo Asami, and George Takei.  After watching the season premiere, I have some mixed thoughts and I’m wondering if this show really needed the ghostly elements.  Let’s find out!

The Pros:

The terror 5
Images courtesy of AMC

Cringe-worthy horror scenes.

In particular, the opening scene was extremely gruesome and almost difficult to watch and yet you can’t shift your eyes away from it.  There are a lot of images that will truly make your skin crawl, so be warned if that is not your cup of tea.  And speaking of tea…

Interesting exploration of Japanese folklore.

I am actually really invested in this story-line and I like learning about supernatural occurrences from different cultures.  The scene with reading the tea leaves was mysterious enough and I am intrigued to find out more about evil spirits, which are referred to as the Yurei.

The real life historical backdrop is compelling.

So, I really appreciate that this series is trying to take a deeper look at terrifying times in history, while giving us a different supernatural take, but the scenes that focused on the real life moments in history could almost be a stand-alone series.  I know that this show is trying to create a balance, but I thought that these moments were truly captivating, so it will be interesting to see if the balance is tipped toward the historical moments more in the coming episodes.

The Cons:

The terror 6

Uninspiring characters.

Other than Yuko, who seems to have the most potential, I had a difficult time connecting to the characters and the fluff and setup overwhelming the season premiere.  The main character, Chester, was just kind of OK and I’m hoping that he can captivate me more in future episodes, but there was a lot to process in the opening episode and I almost felt like I had to take notes to keep up.

Slow moving in parts and unsure of its identity.

The season premiere lasted for a little over an hour, but I felt like I was watching it for two hours.  Part of the issue for me was that the opening scene was so incredible and then the remaining parts just kind of fell off.  Even though we continued to get glimmers of interesting story along the way, there were just so many moments that had me dozing off.  I also sort of feel like this show is trapped between a movie and a mini series, as perhaps it doesn’t translate particularly well to a traditional weekly television series.

So am I in or out?

The terror 4

As of right now, I am in about 75-80 percent, but I wouldn’t say that you need to stop what you are doing to watch this.  The opening scene was fantastic and there are some truly chilling moments sprinkled throughout the premiere, but I’m not sure that the show can keep up with this pace if it continues to rely more on unnecessary dialogue and excessive setup.

There were also not too many surprises, but I’m hoping that the mystery surrounding the Yurei can measure up.  I will continue to watch for now, but I am hoping that the coming episodes can form their identity a little bit better.

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on The Terror: Infamy in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 5 episode 9: “Help Everyone”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 9, I realized that sometimes you have to truly ask yourself what to do with the time you have left.  While some days may be easier than other days, it comes down to finding glimmers of goodness in the most unexpected places.  Maybe not everyone is ready to help, but the smallest steps can often make the biggest impact.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “Channel 4,” we catch up with our favorite characters…documentary style.  Meanwhile, Morgan takes a wrong step that could have a fatal outcome, Alicia finds a new purpose, and John tells us about the “ugliest mustard” he has ever seen.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 9 are:

5

“We haven’t stopped since…”

In the beginning of the episode, we catch up with our favorite characters, as Al continues to tape each one of them.  We learn that they have continued to help others even after Logan’s cryptic warning at the end of the mid-season finale.  Some of the characters open up more than others, but it looks like things haven’t changed too drastically since we last checked in with our Fear TWD family.

4

“Karma’s a bitch.”

During the documentary, we learn that no one really appreciates Sarah and Wendell’s trucker music…except for Sarah and Wendell.  Sarah also fills us in and lets us know that Logan was playing them all along and just wanted to steal their gas.  We see a clip of Sarah taking the truck and leaving Logan behind, which was funny to watch, but I can’t say that I was really surprised by this revelation.  At least they didn’t drag out the reveal too much.

3

“She would have liked this.”

Our favorite zombie fighting super hero is taking somewhat of a break, as Alicia informs us that she has not killed a walker since after the plane.  Alicia tries changing up her tasks and also takes some time to practice using her staff with Morgan.  Alicia stumbles upon a tree beautifully decorated, which reads:  “If you’re reading this, you’re still here.”  The message hits home for Alicia and she even says that her mother would have really liked something like this.

I’m not sure if Alicia has quite found her Zen yet, but she does decide to track down the person leaving the messages, which gives us a new mission for our girl.  Alicia has been broken before, but she somehow always manages to find her inner strength to pull through and I personally can’t wait to see what she does next.

2

“50/50.”

Even though the majority of the episode had a slower transitional feel for me, we did get a little action with some landmines when the group goes to help a woman named Tess in need.  After discovering that the woman’s husband is dead and tracking down the inhaler she needs for her young son, Morgan feels a connection to this one, which brings up feelings about his own wife and son.

Morgan tries to get to the house and steps on one of the landmines, but luckily Al has some experience with this…except she’s only about 50/50 sure that her plan will work.  Luckily, Tess decides to step out of her house after two years to help save Morgan and everyone is OK for now, but this one was definitely a close call.

1

“Sometimes you just can’t say goodbye…”

After Morgan’s close call, he reveals that he understands that sometimes it is beyond difficult to say goodbye and realizes that he still hasn’t truly said goodbye to his wife and son and he’s not sure how to.  I thought this was a beautiful and vulnerable moment for Morgan and I’m starting to understand more and more why he keeps busy by helping others.

Morgan still wants to help everyone and we get several motivational comments from everyone toward the end of the documentary, which was nice and all, but I was starting to think that nothing much was going to happen in this episode at all.  We learn that the tapes are being used to inspire others to help, but it’s not going to be easy to convince everyone to change.

We do get somewhat of a setup at the very end and discover that Logan is far from gone, as we catch up with him and his new team.  His team has plenty of bullets to go around, but they are still looking for gas.  It looks like Logan’s boots weren’t really made for walking after all and he still has a score to settle, so our group better watch out.  Let’s just hope the pace picks up for the next episodes because I am craving some walker frenzy action for sure.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

My performance of the week ending 8/10/19 on TV goes to…

Marie Avgeropoulos as Octavia Blake on The CW’s The 100I know that Clarke gets a lot of the attention on this show and I am a huge Eliza Taylor fan as well, but there has to be something said for the “girl under the floor” who has grown into one of the most interesting female protagonists on any current show.

Octavia started out unsure of herself, but she has always been a survivor and she has been trying to make up for her ruthless actions as Blodreina in season 6, but quickly realizes that it’s not an easy path toward redemption.  Please note some spoilers are ahead.

I was a little concerned going into season 6 about what would happen with Octavia’s character.  In season 5, she truly broke out of her shell and was absolutely captivating as Blodreina.  Even though her actions were beyond questionable, she had such a drastic character transformation and I was impressed again and again by Marie’s portrayal of her.

Octavia gif

In season 6, Octavia has taken somewhat of a backseat, but things get interesting when she teams up with Diyoza after Bellamy leaves her behind.  Octavia discovers a new potential destiny within The Anomaly and it seems like she has been chosen.  Is she a savior or a threat?  I’m not so sure, but this new plot has kept Octavia relevant, continuing her story.

It was heartbreaking to see Bellamy leave Octavia behind, but perhaps that is what she needed.  Octavia has had strong attachments to Lincoln, Indra, and Bellamy, but when she is left on her own, she is forced to deal with her guilt head on, coming face to face with everything she has done as Blodreina.  When Octavia goes into The Anomaly, she ends up on a journey of self-discovery, but Bellamy initially seems skeptical of her true intentions.

In the season 6 finale, Octavia is the first one to speak up about helping Gabriel, performing selfless actions to help save innocent lives, which is absolutely a step in the right direction for her.  Octavia knows that she has a long way to go for forgiveness, but it looks like she has looked within herself to find a way to keep going, which makes her a strong female anti-hero to truly root for.

Octavia 1 gif

What’s next for Octavia?  We’ll have to wait and see, but we are left with an uncertain fate for her for season 7 after that cliffhanger ending.  Season 7 will be the last season for the series, but I’m hoping this is not the end for Octavia.  Now that she is finally on her path toward redemption, I want to continue watching her grow.

Octavia is strong and fearless, but she is also vulnerable, which makes her such a compelling and layered character.  I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Stay tuned for a recognized performance on TV each week!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Two Sentence Horror Stories” on The CW: An Eerie Delight

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

Sometimes less is more and Two Sentence Horror Stories delivers with its short episodes, bringing us just the right amount of unnerving moments for these compelling female protagonists.  Real life horror lurks in the shadows, seeping into our doubts, which creates a unique take on psychological horror, while touching on social concerns seamlessly.  If you are looking for some chilling fun with some terrifying twists, you are in the right place!

Two Sentence Horror Stories is a horror anthology series based on the popular fan-fiction that emerged on Reddit.  Each episode is about 30 minutes in length and follows a different creepy story, somewhat similar to the approach of Hulu’s Into the Dark and The Twilight Zone reboot on CBS All Access.

The series will feature 8 episodes for season 1 and the first 2 episodes premiered on The CW on August 8th 2019.  While I have been underwhelmed by some of the other horror anthology series currently airing, Two Sentence Horror Stories genuinely surprised me and captured my undivided attention, but will the rest of the episodes be able to measure up?  I’m hoping so!

The Pros:

Two sentence 6
Images courtesy of The CW

Genuinely satisfying twists.

I don’t know about you, but I love playing Nancy Drew when it comes to figuring out any type of mystery and I have to say that both episodes kept me guessing.  The reveals were shocking and unsettling.

Strong female protagonists.

These interesting female characters will immediately draw you in.  I absolutely love that the majority of the episodes will feature women of color and I really thought that the performances were believable and spot on.  There are so many real life dangers that women have to face and this series has successfully brought some of these social concerns to light without hitting you over the head with them like some other series.

The episodes are the perfect length and really pay tribute to where Two Sentence Horror Stories originated.

I mean, it would probably be silly to have a series based on horror stories consisting of two sentences airing for an hour, but is 30 minutes enough time to truly make an impact?  Yes!  While I have been previously bored by some other horror anthology series, I really appreciated the short length of the episodes of Two Sentence Horror Stories.  The creepy background music and the simplicity of it all just works somehow and it doesn’t drag anything out.

I also love that each episode starts off with the first sentence of the horror story and then once the twist is revealed, it ends with the second sentence, really reminding you what this show is based on and proving that something genuinely terrifying and unique doesn’t have to be long and drawn out.

The Cons:

Two sentence 7

Maybe not the type of horror you are expecting.

I honestly really can’t come up with a con for this series yet, as both episode 1 (Gentleman) and episode 2 (Squirm) deliver.  The only thing I would say is if you are expecting something supernatural or a slasher gory massacre, this is not for you.  It has more of a dark psychological vibe, but the real life terror works just as effectively in my opinion.  We’ll have to see if the remaining 6 episodes can hold up to the first 2, but I have high expectations now.

So am I in or out?

Squirm

I am in 100 percent!  I have to admit that I didn’t really expect much going into this series.  The CW added it to the summer line-up, which made me hesitate slightly, but I am so glad that I gave this series a chance because it is unique, smart, and scary!  I can’t wait to watch the next episodes and I definitely recommend it!

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Two Sentence Horror Stories in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Younger” season 6 episode 8: “I Made a Mess of Everything”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching TV Land’s Younger season 6 episode 8, I learned that “you can’t win the game without playing the game,” but there are always consequences to our actions.  Honesty is often said to be the best policy, but will the truth set you free or will you wind up with an even bigger PR nightmare?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “The Debu-Taunt,” Liza bumps into Charles’s ex-wife, Pauline, but things don’t start out as awkward as you may think.  Meanwhile, Diana’s engagement is announced, but another revelation steals the show and yes, it’s the one you have been waiting for.  My top 5 moments from Younger season 6 episode 8 are:

5

“I wasn’t expecting to see you.”

After Charles’s daughter forgets her book report, Liza volunteers to drop it off at school and borrows a coat from the closet.  We quickly discover that it is Pauline’s coat and Liza ends up bumping into her at the school.  You would think this would be beyond awkward, but Pauline is calling for a cease fire and even asks Liza to lunch.  Is this truly a cease fire though?  Pauline seems to be coping quite well with the divorce, but is she truly over everything?  Look out, Liza!

4

“You should move in…”

Charliza is ready to take a big step here, as Charles invites Liza to move in with him.  Liza wants to think about it and Charles tells her not to over think it, but it is a huge decision and that would also mean that Liza would need to leave Maggie behind and I love them being roommates.  It looks like Liza is ready, but timing is everything.

3

“Liza Miller is 42 years old and she’s been lying shamelessly about who she is for years!”

Yes, you heard that right and to make matters worse, Pauline decides to out Liza at the event on stage…in front of everyone.  Talk about a public humiliation nightmare come true.  So, I do find it odd that Pauline seemed perfectly OK with Charles leaving her for a 26-year-old, but is outraged when she finds out that Liza is actually older.  Wouldn’t she be more upset about him leaving her for a younger woman?

Either way, Pauline was clearly not truthful about her cease fire, as she goes on stage with guns blazing.  Poor Diana stands up to defend Liza and Liza tries to gently tell her that it’s true, which made this moment that much more shocking.  Sure, the press and the world knows, but Diana’s discovery was heartbreaking to watch, as she truly felt betrayed by this revelation.

2

“Do you wanna talk about it?”

After Diana has a panic attack and is taken to the hospital, Liza feels beyond awful, realizing that she has made a mess of everything with her lie.  She talks to Josh on the phone and he tells her that he will talk to her about it for however long she needs, which was sweet and touching.  Josh is there for Liza, but I continue to see more hints for them to rekindle their romance, but where would that leave Charles?  After the PR nightmare, Liza realizes that it is not the right time for her to move in with Charles, but let’s hope that this doesn’t hurt their relationship too much.

1

“I did all those things for you.”

Over the seasons, we have witnessed heartbreaking reactions to Liza’s lie, but Diana’s had the biggest impact for me.  After Diana asks Liza to be her maid of honor, she is hurt and betrayed, feeling like a fool for being the only one who wasn’t in on the secret.  Liza tries to explain everything to Diana and they do reconcile, as Diana hilariously tells her that she is now her “old maid of honor,” but I hope this doesn’t damage their friendship too much.

Also, news is spreading fast about Liza’s deception, so how will this impact the business?  It looks like we are about to find out.  Is Liza’s career over for good?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Younger below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the Top 10 episodes of “Beverly Hills, 90210” to binge-watch before the premiere of “BH90210”

It’s almost here…the premiere of BH90210!  I don’t know about you, but I am beyond excited to catch up with the cast, as the original Beverly Hills, 90210 will always be one of my favorite series of all time.  When you think about the 90’s, this show naturally comes to mind and I have so many fond memories of it.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The 100” season 6 episode 13 Season Finale: “Tell Me It Was Worth It”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s The 100 season 6 episode 13 season finale, I learned that sometimes accepting the truth isn’t always possible.  If we have been brought up on a lie, do our lives still have meaning when the lie is finally exposed or is there still a chance to discover the truth within ourselves?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.

In last night’s episode, “The Blood of Sanctum,” Clarke continues to pose as Josephine, but things get a little tricky when she realizes that many innocent lives are at stake.  Meanwhile, Murphy tries out being a hero, Abby’s fate is revealed, and Octavia’s destiny becomes more complicated.  My top 5 moments from The 100 season 6 episode 13 season finale are:

5

“Who’s the hero now?”

You are, John Murphy!  Especially after you had that “interesting” kiss with that guy from Sanctum!  Murphy was really committing to the role, but he did say he was a good kisser.  Good thing Emori isn’t the jealous type.  Either way, I was thrilled to finally see Murphy do the right thing to help his friends.

After the truth is revealed about the Primes, non-believers are being killed, but Murphy decides to get his friends out of there and brings them to the palace to move them out of harm’s way.  Murphy still contemplates just doing what is right for him and his friends, but risks it all and continues with this dangerous charade to help everyone in need.  Thanks Murphy!

“I am sorry for your loss.”

Meanwhile, Clarke realizes that she cannot let Russell and the other Primes kill any more innocent people and she decides to turn the tables on them, revealing her true identity.  Russell is beyond upset to find out that his daughter is dead and he turns further down his path of revenge.  We get a small glimmer of hope when Simone turns the gun on her people, telling Clarke that she is really Abby and that she has been pretending too.

Clarke holds on to this hope for just a second, but is smart enough to ask Abby what her father’s name is.  Simone’s plan fails and Clarke pulls the fail-safe switch, ultimately floating and killing Simone in Abby’s body.  I was already so incredibly heartbroken from last week’s episode, but I was still holding on to the hope that Abby might somehow be OK.  However, that hope was ripped away from us in the season finale, as we said goodbye to Abby Griffin for good.  May we meet again.  You will be missed!

“You’re as weak as her…”

After Clarke goes through the trauma of losing her mother, she cannot bear to lose Madi too.  However, the Dark Commander is not making things easy, as he continues to control Madi, manipulating Russell into following him toward an even darker path of revenge.  The Dark Commander tells Clarke that Lexa told him that she was strong, but he thinks that she is weak because of her love.  Clarke holds a gun to her head, trying to get through to Madi and is successful, as Madi is able to surface with perfect timing.

Raven comes in the clutch and reminds Clarke that they need to take out the flame to save Madi.  Clarke is beyond grateful and the two bond for a moment over losing Abby, which was touching to see.  Madi may not be the Commander anymore, but she is alive and we can all breathe a sigh of relief…at least for the moment.

2

“Tell me it was worth it.”

Despite all the heartbreak in this episode, we do get a beautiful Bellarke moment, as Bellamy and Clarke embrace after everything is over.  Clarke asks him if they truly did better and Bellamy tries to convince her that they are making a step in the right direction, but how will Clarke cope without her mother?  Now that we know that The 100’s season 7 will be the last season of the show, is there hope for Bellarke to finally be together?  Fingers crossed!  Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed this small moment and pretty much any embrace between Bellarke makes me swoon!

“Side by side…like it was meant to be.”

Even though a lot of the attention is centered on Clarke in this episode, Octavia continues to try and redeem herself, making her an even more interesting character.  Octavia never ceases to surprise me and she is the first one to tell Gabriel that she is willing to help save the innocent people of Sanctum, truly embracing the role of a hero.  Octavia continues to make courageous decisions now and it looks like her destiny is about to be explored even further when Gabriel discovers that the Anomaly Stone has formed tattoos on her back.  Gabriel has been studying these for quite some time and believes that Octavia is the key...but the key to what?

When Octavia touches the stone, the intense green light is released and our favorite characters are greeted by….Diyoza’s grown-up daughter, Hope, who stabs Octavia, causing her to vanish before their very eyes.  Bellamy screams out for his sister and our favorite characters are left out in the open.  We can only assume that this is either the Anomaly itself or it has somehow taken over Sanctum.

We know there are other planets that still exist based on what Russell said, but I’m not sure where are characters are now, but it looks like we have our setup for season 7.  Will Octavia be OK?  Is Clarke stuck in the same Anomaly?  We’ll have to wait and see, but I can’t wait to see how it all ends!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The 100 in the comments section below.  Thanks for reading and happy viewing!

My Ship of the week ending 8/3/19 on TV goes to…

Diana and Enzo on Younger!  Even though Liza’s relationships get the most attention on the show, Diana and Enzo deserve some recognition for being one of the most adorable ships I have seen on television in a long time.  From the first moment Enzo walked into Diana’s life as the plumber from Staten Island, I fell in love with these two and I will continue to ship them together.

**Please note some spoilers are ahead if you have not watched season 6 episode 7 yet.  Even though Diana and Enzo come from different worlds, they are willing to meet each other halfway.  Diana has actually grown so much as a character because of her relationship with Enzo, as she even finds herself boarding a ferry to Staten Island and putting up with Enzo’s judgmental mother, which is no easy task!

Diana has made some mistakes when it comes to Enzo, but she risks it all and throws appearances out the window when she finds out he is trapped in the sewer.  Even though Enzo is covered in filth, Diana embraces him, refusing to let him go.  We have witnessed so many passionate and swoon-worthy moments between these two and Diana even writes about her tale of love in the paper, revealing that she does have a softer, romantic side and reminding us that it’s never too late to find that kind of epic love that some only dream about.

I really enjoyed Diana’s article where she talked about truly appreciating and loving the person next to you because at the end of the day, that’s the person of your dreams.  He or she may not be everything you thought you wanted, but perhaps they make you a better person and help you become a greater version of yourself.

In season 6 episode 7, Diana begins to panic when she finds out that Enzo has previously had a “one year expiration date” on all of his past relationships.  Only our girl Diana has nothing to worry about because she truly is one of a kind, as Enzo decides to spontaneously propose to her!  Diana initially comments on the lack of ring, but decides to just go with it and enthusiastically says yes, embracing the possibility of true love.

With all of the drama surrounding Charliza, Josh, and Kelsey and Zane, it was nice to just truly appreciate a couple that is head over heels in love and I can’t say enough good things about this ship.  What’s next for Diana and Enzo?  It will be interesting to see Enzo’s mother become Diana’s mother-in-law, but we know that she can hold her own!  Either way, this ship is timeless, passionate, and inspiring and I will continue to root for Diana and Enzo against all odds!

Stay tuned for a recognized Ship on TV each week!

My performance of the week ending 8/3/19 on TV goes to…

The cast of  Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black season 7.  The cast of OITNB is so incredibly talented and I honestly cannot narrow it down to one standout performance.  I really can’t even narrow it down to a top 3 because they are all so compelling.  One of the reasons why I love this show so much is because it’s truly about the characters.  Everyone has a past and sometimes these characters learn from their previous mistakes and really grow, while others spiral out of control, but that’s what makes these performances so incredibly real and heart-wrenching.  **Please note that spoilers have been left out for your convenience so feel free to read on.

I have been a fan of the series for seven seasons and it’s honestly really difficult for me to say goodbye to it, but I think that these episodes will continue to stand the test of time.  Each reflection into a different character’s past makes you see them in a whole new light, as you start to really sympathize with characters that perhaps seemed horrible in earlier seasons and maybe you even start to root for them.

OITNB gif 1.gif

Season 7 certainly jam-packs a lot into the final season of OITNB, as we get to see some favorite characters return and explore some new plot points as well.  Perhaps what I found the most interesting was seeing certain characters truly understanding one another and bonding now, where we used to witness some pretty ruthless feuds between them before.  In the earlier seasons, many of these characters were guarded and divided, but they are now all coming together, recognizing the importance of loyalty and friendship even when all hope seems lost.

What’s next for the characters of OITNB?  Well not much since this is the final season of the show, but I am planning on re-watching the entire series in the near future because I was so incredibly moved by all of the performances and I really started to think about each individual journey.  It truly was amazing to see how much some of these characters have grown and how scary the world can be outside these four constricting walls.

Even though it seems like freedom is the obvious goal, some of our characters end up facing even more struggles outside of prison, reminding us that the journey of self-discovery is far from over, but it’s important to have the love and support of those around you, even though it may come from an unlikely source.  I fell in love with this show when it first aired and each season continued to inspire me.  We got a mixed bag of hilarious, heartbreaking, romantic, and tense moments, which kept us entertained until the very end.

At the end of the day, it’s about each and every one of these characters…these strong women who have to continue fighting even when the world is against them.  Each character has so many layers and even if you think you have them figured out, they may surprise you, reminding us that it’s never too late to change and that it’s about the small moments in between that sometimes have the biggest impact on us in the end.

Stay tuned for a recognized performance on TV each week!
