Ranking the top 5 heartbreaking moments from “Charmed”

Happy Friday TV Fans! For today, I have once again returned to one of my old favorites, Charmed. That’s right, the original Charmed. Have you ever watched a show that just brings you to tears? This is not always a bad thing, as it means that you are connecting to the show and the characters on a profound level. Whether it is one of your favorite characters dying, an epic romance coming to end, or a moment of sheer vulnerability, there are some heartbreaking moments on television that still impact us today. After many re-watches of Charmed, there are still certain moments that I recognize. I find my heart start to skip faster, anticipating the worst, even hoping that somehow the outcome might be different with a re-watch. However, the heartbreaking moment replays itself, still bringing tears to our eyes and tugging at our own feelings in the process.

There are so many of these moments in Charmed and it was difficult for me to narrow it down to just five, but there is something to be said about these three, or really four, powerful women who are just trying to find their way. Sure there are demons and magical forces at play, but the moments of sacrifice and true selflessness remind us that we can all channel the “power of three” in our own lives. We can’t always stop the tragic moments from happening, but we can do our very best to try to do the right thing and support our family and friends. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the full series yet.

My top 5 heartbreaking moments from Charmed are:

Andy’s sacrifice.

In the season 1 finale, “Déjà Vu All Over Again,” Tempus creates a time loop that causes the day to repeat itself over and over again. While the characters are not aware that the day is repeating, Phoebe’s power of premonition allows her to realize what is happening. Tempus uses Inspector Rodriguez to try and destroy the Charmed Ones. Each time he fails, the time loop is reset. When Phoebe first receives her premonition, she sees Andy dying and Prue wants to stop this from happening. However, with each new attack, Inspector Rodriguez is able to kill one of the sisters. When Prue is knocked out cold and Andy is killed, he speaks to her in a sort of limbo at their favorite bench. Andy is Prue’s first real love and she doesn’t want to lose him. However, Andy realizes that this is his destiny and explains to her that he will always be there for her. When Prue wakes up, the reality that Andy is gone hits home, but she knows that she must stay strong for her sisters and defeat Inspector Rodriguez and Tempus. Throughout season 1, Andy had an on-again-off-again romance with Prue, but he finally accepted her for who she was…powers and all. Andy would do anything to save Prue and her sisters, which makes him a real hero. He reminded Prue that “everything happens for a reason,” and sometimes things don’t always work out the way we want them to, but that doesn’t mean we stop fighting. Andy’s sacrifice proves that mortal love is possible and that it’s never too late to stand by the ones we care about.

Piper’s death in season 2.

In the episode, “Awakened,” Piper is chopping up some smuggled fruit at the club and suddenly collapses. After she is rushed to the hospital, we learn that she has been infected by a rare disease. Her condition continues to get worse and Prue and Phoebe decide to use magic to save her. We experience the consequences of “personal gain” first hand, as the sisters begin to realize that they will need to let their sister go. They can’t use magic to stop what is happening no matter how much they want to without putting other lives in danger. When Piper is dying in the hospital, the reactions of Prue, Phoebe, and Dan are absolutely heartbreaking. Leo is able to intervene and he saves Piper, but this episode really struck home for me. While it’s easy to root for the sisters to destroy the forces of evil, a disease is something that you can’t always fight and you don’t have control over it, which can make you feel completely helpless. The acting in this episode is phenomenal and Shannen Doherty’s performance in particular really tugged at my emotions. Her pain and anger about the situation was beyond tragic, making her that much more sympathetic in this difficult moment.

Piper’s speech to The Elders.

In the season 3 episode, “Once Upon a Time,” Piper has a nightmare and ultimately learns that The Elders are forbidding for her and Leo to be together. Piper goes outside the club to take a moment to breathe and is attacked by invisible trolls. She gets knocked to the ground and dusts herself off, but not before she gives The Elders a piece of her mind. Piper says:

I bet you guys think this is real funny don’t ya? Haven’t you taken enough from me? You have to send trolls to kick me while I’m down. I had a nice normal life once and you took that from me. You took my boyfriend, you took my life, the least you could do is leave me my freakin’ car keys. I am a good person, I am a good witch and damn it I would’ve made a great wife. And how dare you take that from me. I deserve… no, you know what? I demand that you send him back to me. You hear me? Right now. I am going to stand in this very spot until you send Leo back to me.

Piper lets her guard down here and refuses to just sit quietly and accept her fate. She stands up for herself and demands that The Elders do what is right. While they don’t send Leo back in this scene, this is one of the key moments for Piper and Leo’s relationship. Piper never stops fighting for Leo and it’s hard not to let your heart break for her here.

Cole’s letter to Phoebe.

In the season 4 episode, “Long Live the Queen,” Phoebe has accepted her new role as Cole’s queen, but is having second thoughts. She doesn’t want to lose her sisters and the good in her still exists. Phoebe is completely torn between the love of her life, Cole, and her family, but she ultimately sacrifices her love for Cole and helps vanquish him. Even when Phoebe begins saying the spell with her sisters, Cole tells her that he’ll always love her. Although they try to vanquish Cole “from time and space,” we know that this is not the end just yet for him. However, this moment feels final and tragic. Phoebe loves Cole so much but she has to let him go. At the end of the episode, she is upstairs crying and Piper and Paige get in bed with her to console her. They don’t say anything in this moment because there really aren’t any words that will make her feel better, but their presence is enough to give Phoebe some sense of comfort, as she knows she is not alone. In the episode, “Womb Raider,” Paige finds the letter Cole wrote to Phoebe and he narrates it at the end of the episode:

Dear Phoebe,
If I’m dead right now,
I know it was at your
hand. No one else in
heaven or hell had
Power over me. Please,
don’t cry. I was dead
Before I met you. I was
Born the day you loved
me. And my love for you

Cole’s words to Phoebe are so beautiful and real, reminding her that he did truly love her deep down. While Cole was not able to stop the evil from corrupting him, his love for Phoebe always remained, even keeping him alive later in limbo.

Piper’s reaction to Prue’s death.

In season 4, we learn that Prue did die in the season 3 finale and Paige is introduced as Piper and Phoebe’s half-sister. Prue was one of my favorite characters and her death alone was enough to make me cry, but Piper’s reaction to it was something even more tragic. In the season 4 premiere, Piper is trying every possible spell imaginable to bring Prue back from the dead. As she gets ready for the funeral, she tells Leo that she doesn’t want to go while she mechanically brushes her hair. She explains that if she goes, then it means that it’s all real and Prue will not be coming back. Piper says that she doesn’t know how to live without a big sister and tells Leo that he should have saved Prue because she was the strongest. In the next episode, “Hell Hath No Fury,” Piper gets turned into a Fury and Leo orbs her and Paige to Prue’s grave. Piper lets out all of her anger and Paige tells her to tell Prue how she feels. She tells her it’s alright to hate her. Piper breaks down screaming and crying, yelling at Prue for abandoning her. This turns her back into her normal self, but the tears won’t stop falling and all of the emotions hit Piper at once. Piper finally lets her emotions reach the surface and her reaction is something that really resonates with me. The show is about family before anything else and Piper can’t imagine a world without her sister in it. While she will never forget Prue or stop loving her, Piper visits Paige later in the episode and even says, “she’s my sister,” which proves that she can still love Prue and open her heart to Paige as well.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 20: “Home isn’t a Place. It’s the People in it”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 20 last night, Henry’s words really described what this series is all about. “That’s the thing about stories. They’re more than words. They live inside of us. They make us who we are. And as long as someone believes that…there will be magic.” When you think about Once Upon a Time as it draws close to the series finale next week, you immediately think about believing in the impossible. The fairy tales we grew up with sparked our own imagination and creativity, shaping who we have become even if we don’t always see it. Words can be more powerful than we realize, allowing our feelings and stories to come alive across the page. Even when this series ends, the stories will live on, reminding us of the importance of taking a leap of faith when the world seems to be quite mad. It provides us with an escape that can inspire hope, love, and adventure. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet. In last night’s episode, “Is This Henry Mills?” Regina desperately tries to get Henry to believe again but is running out of ideas. Meanwhile, Rogers/Nook and Rumple recruit Margot to help save Tilly before it is too late and the ultimate villain is revealed. My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 20 are:

“Because I can be very convincing.”

While helping Jacinda and Lucy pack for their trip with Henry, Sabine/Tiana is worried about Drew. After Lucy reveals that the back-pack is from Drew, she finds a tarot card hidden inside. Lucy immediately knows that this means that Samdi/Dr. Facilier will have an idea about what’s going on. Jacinda and Sabine/Tiana go to confront Dr. Facilier who has nothing to hide at this point, recognizing that magic is about to resurface again. He opens the closet door and reveals Drew gagged and tied up and suggests that the ladies join him. While we know that Dr. Facilier’s ultimate goal is to obtain the Dark One’s dagger, what does he have to gain by holding these characters captive? Is it merely to prevent them from getting in the way or did he have something else in store for them? It looks like we may never find out, as Dr. Facilier’s own fate is about to take a cruel twist. I wonder if he saw that coming in the cards.

“I’ve got nothing left to lose so let’s do this.”

Even though Regina is having trouble getting Henry to believe again, she refuses to give up. She turns down Gothel’s offer to join her coven and chooses the side of humanity, proving once again that the Evil Queen has shed its wickedness and has embraced what it truly means to be a hero. Even though Regina does not have magic in this world, she is not about to let Gothel win. She stands up to her and faces her, but is wounded after Gothel attacks her. While Regina may not be the hero to take down Gothel, her will to stand against her is commendable.

“I’m not like you. You chose hate. But I choose love.”

After Tilly courageously joined Gothel’s coven to protect her father’s life, she is now under some type of trance, trapped by the magic she is channeling. Rogers/Nook tells her that he will come back for her and save her and is ready to finally take a leap of faith. Rumple reveals to him that it’s all real and Rogers/Nook is finally ready to accept this and listen. When he asks who he is from the other realm, Rumple says, “All you need to know right now is that you’re a survivor…Captain.” Rogers and Rumple seek out the help of Margot, desperately hoping that she can get through to Tilly before it is too late. We learn that after each witch sacrifices all of their power to the spell, they turn into a tree in the eternal grove and it’s only a matter of time before Tilly starts growing roots of her own. Margot tries to talk Tilly out of this, recognizing that perhaps she is just having a really bad day and “maybe we can turn it into a good one.” Tilly refuses, however; and flings her in the air, shrinking her enemies into almost non-existence, as she remains trapped by the magic consuming her. When the curse is ultimately broken, Margot and Tilly remember themselves as Robin and Alice…or “Tower Girl.” When the words, “I told you we’d always know each other” are spoken, you can’t help feeling an overwhelming sense of warmth and love for these two characters. Their love for one another is so pure and good, proving that real love can truly conquer all. This reunion is put on hold, however; as Gothel still remains to be a threat. Gothel tries to tell Alice that she is like her and will not be able to defeat her, but Alice has her father and Robin by her side. She chooses love and turns Gothel into a tree, hoping that she can grow into something beautiful again and ultimately find peace. The curse is broken and Alice can finally be reunited with her father again and with her true love, Robin. Well deserved!

“Don’t you want to believe?”

During the episode, we flash to another timeline where young Henry Mills is approaching graduation and deciding on whether or not he should leave Storybrooke or stay behind with his mother, Regina. Regina has some doubts about Henry leaving, but she puts her feelings aside because all she really wants is for him to be happy. Grown up Henry is still having trouble believing, even after he witnesses all of the magic around him. Regina tries a memory potion and even digs up the “Once Upon a Time” second book from Victoria’s grave, desperately trying to help him remember who he is and what he believes in. Nothing happens after all of these attempts and it seems like Henry’s belief may really be gone forever, as he is unable to deal with the grief of losing the family he thought he had. However, Henry is failing to realize that his family has been right in front of him this whole time. Regina tries to tell him that the curse is not just a land without magic, but that they were brought to a different time, bringing time travel into the mix, and bringing me back to Lost once again. Henry looks at the adoption papers Regina left with him and decides to take a very own leap of faith of his own by calling the phone number listed. Lost fans everywhere will remember the memorable moment in the episode, “The Constant,” where Desmond makes a phone call to Penny that saves his life and helps him remember who he is. The connection he had to his love, Penny was enough to bring him back. In Once Upon a Time, Henry is about to experience something very similar. When he calls, he speaks to his younger self and provides him with some really great advice. The conversation causes his memories to come flashing back to him, as he finally remembers who he is. After Gothel attacks Regina, Henry rushes to her side and kisses her forehead, breaking the curse for good in a beautiful moment. It was true love’s kiss after all, but for the mother who sacrificed everything for him. Magic is back and so are the memories that had been hidden away for so long. Young Henry gets it absolutely right when he says that “Storybrooke will always be with me.” Not just with you Henry, but with all of us and it’s hard not to shed some tears as we approach the very end. However, even though it seems like our happy ending has finally arrived, there is one more twist left.

“Did you really think a wish realm could hold me?”

After the curse is broken, Rumple realizes that the dagger is gone and immediately jumps to the conclusion yet again that Dr. Facilier is responsible. Rumple is finally starting to realize that he may not be able to get back to Belle and he wants to focus his energy on the family he has here. He even hesitates and doesn’t kill Dr. Facilier when he has the chance and Dr. Facilier mocks him by telling him, “You’re a shadow of your former self.” Who said that words could never hurt you? Dr. Facilier is stabbed with the dagger and the Dark One is responsible. Rumple will literally need to face himself and destroy the evil of the Dark One once and for all, but is he powerful enough to do so? We know that some of our favorite characters will be returning for the series finale next week. I am beyond excited and can’t wait to see how the story finally ends. Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 19: “Flower Child”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 19 last night, Tilly got it absolutely right when she said that “it’s cruel really to be so close to happiness and kept so far away from it.” Revelations are finally breaking through the curse, however; but will our favorite characters get their chance at a happily ever after before the witches cast their spell? Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet. In last night’s episode, “Flower Child,” we learn about Mother Gothel’s past and her motives. Meanwhile, Tilly finds out the truth about who her parents are and Lucy desperately looks for something that can save her father and bring her parents back together again. My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 19 are:

“Now you are the Mother. Remember what you were destined to blossom into.”

While it didn’t initially seem like Mother Gothel had any redeemable qualities, this glimpse into her past actually revealed a heartbreaking story filled with betrayal and loss. We learn that Gothel is a tree nymph and comes from a magical grove, but she is curious about humanity and wants to know what it’s like to be mortal. Gothel envies the pretty dresses the girls get to wear and the freedom they can explore, but lets her guard down when she is invited to teach some of her new mortal friends how to do magic. Gothel’s naivete prevents her from seeing the cruel and wicked intentions of her new “sisters,” who tell her she is an “abomination” and destroy her grove. Gothel is horrified to find her family dead and no longer feels like she belongs in any world. Gothel is not able to take her mother’s advice and turns her destiny of being the “Mother” of nature into a quest for vengeance against humanity. She recruits the first true member of her coven and it’s clear that she will not be finished until all of humanity pays for what they have done. While we know that Gothel must be stopped, this glimpse into her past allows us to understand why she became so cold and broken along the way, making her story that much more complicated. While we have seen other villains choose the path of good, Gothel only seems interested in furthering her revenge and confuses her coven with “family,” not fully grasping what this term actually means.

Lucy visits Dr. Facilier.

Lucy is not about to give up on her parents even though the magic that Dr. Facilier gave to Regina is gone. She asks if there is any more magic to help her father and proves to be “quite the blackmailer,” which amuses Dr. Facilier. He agrees to help her and explains that the first step is for her to find a symbol of Henry and Jacinda’s love. Dr. Facilier is not helping Lucy out of the mere goodness of his heart, however. He reveals that “a storm of witches is brewing” and that they will need magic to survive. Whatever his intentions are, he is willing to help and Lucy sets off to find a symbol. She goes through boxes of Jacinda’s old things and finds one box labeled “BL,” which means “Before Lucy.” In the box, she finds a bag from Granny’s Diner and for a minute I was worried that she might find some rotten food that Jacinda forgot about, but the broken glass slipper is inside, shocking both Jacinda and Lucy. While Jacinda tries to grasp the reality that she really is Cinderella, Lucy rushes off to Dr. Facilier so that her father can be saved.

“No matter how crazy…we’ll figure it out together.”

Gothel approaches Tilly and tells her that she is her mother. Tilly doesn’t welcome her with open arms, however; and tells her “you’re either a liar or a monster.” Gothel tries to feed her a story about wanting to change and looking for forgiveness, but Tilly walks away from Gothel and her false promises. She goes to the only real “family” she knows right now and Rogers/Nook tells her that they will figure it out together. Meanwhile, Gothel pays Margot a visit and takes some of her blood, refusing to abandon her plan now that she knows that Tilly contains the magic within her that will complete her coven.

“When I met you I loved you immediately…maybe because I already loved you.”

Henry and Jacinda have been getting closer and closer after realizing that Henry’s book might be real after all and that they did meet in another world in a fairy-tale. It’s surprising that these two haven’t shared a kiss yet, but they do hold out with perfect timing, as Dr. Facilier breaks the curse on Henry. The two finally kiss but Lucy is beyond disappointed when it doesn’t break the curse. Has Gothel’s magic interfered with true love’s kiss? Is there another way to break the curse and wake everyone up?

Tilly learns that Rogers is her father.

After Gothel takes some of Margot’s blood, she captures Rogers/Nook and lures Tilly to her. She tells her that she is her real family, but Tilly will not help her. She finally reveals that Rogers is her real father and offers her a choice. Tillly can join the coven or watch her father die. Even though Rogers tries to do the noble thing and tells Tilly not to give in, she cannot live in a world without her father. Tilly has felt alone and unwanted up until now and she finally has a chance at new love with Margot and old love with her father. She reluctantly joins hands with the coven and the spell is cast. Did she make the right decision? What has the coven unleashed? Will anyone be able to stop Gothel? Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 13 episode 19: “Funeralia”

Happy Friday TV fans! After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 13 episode 19 last night, I learned that redemption is possible for everyone and that it’s never too late to do the right thing. We sometimes just need someone to believe in us and then the rest is up to us. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet. In last night’s episode, “Funeralia,” Sam and Dean reach out to Rowena for some help but are politely turned down due to her other engagements. Meanwhile, Cas visits heaven and tries to get some reinforcements but is in for a surprise. My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 13 episode 19 are:

“She’s right you never go to parties.”

In the beginning of the episode, Sam and Dean are trying to figure out what their next move is especially since Gabriel walked out on them, declining to join the team. Rowena seems like the next best option to help them get to Mary and Jack, but she is otherwise engaged when they reach out. Rowena overhears Castiel and asks if the “handsome angel is there,” to which Castiel mechanically responds with, “um hello.” After hearing a lot of background noise, the Winchester brothers quickly realize that Rowena is at a party. She hangs up on them before they can get more information out of her and she proves that a passionate tango dance can be hotter than you think when she literally burns a woman alive at the party.

“She started taking me to the light. It didn’t work out.”

After Sam and Dean realize where Rowena is, they decide to head out there to deal with her in person. They get an uninvited guest in the back seat of their car, however; when Jessica the reaper makes an appearance. Jessica explains that she is there to act as a sort of “baby monitor.” She has been listening in and keeping an eye on the Winchester brothers for quite some time now, but only just decided to show up now to offer herself as a resource in this case. Sam and Dean are suspicious about this, but listen up all the same. They learn that people have been dying outside of their assigned timeline and that their reapers have been killed as well. While Sam and Dean now understand the reaper’s invested interest in this, they still need to find out why Rowena is doing this.

“Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect?

Dean of course eagerly replies with, “Ashton’s second best movie,” which keeps the laughs coming even when literally faced with Death himself…or herself now. The reaper explains that Billie, now known as Death, is not getting involved directly, but has clearly taken notice of Rowena’s actions. She explains that if reapers continue to die along with people outside of their timeline, it will cause a ripple effect and throw off the grand design. If this continues much further, Jessica thinks that the slate will need to be wiped clean and that the world would need to start over, which is not what anyone wants. Jessica reveals an important piece of information when she lets Sam and Dean know that Rowena’s ultimate death will be by Sam’s hand. There is no other alternative version, which puts a lot of responsibility on Sam and also places him in danger at the same time.

“It’s a sports term like slam dunk.”

As Castiel shows off his knowledge on the usage of the term, “Hail Mary,” he thinks that the angels may be able to help them even though approaching them can be extremely dangerous. Castiel goes up to heaven and the angels think that perhaps they can help each other. They offer him a deal and explain that he must bring up Gabriel and then they can help. Castiel tries to clarify that this will not work, but it is later explained to him that heaven is running out of power and that there are barely any angels left to keep it running. It is revealed that Gabriel could be the key to preventing this from happening. It looks like everyone desperately needs Gabriel’s help, but will he come to his senses and do the right thing?

“Sometimes life is unfair…some things just are.”

After learning that Sam will be responsible for her ultimate undoing, Rowena holds him captive and threatens to end his life. Billie finally appears before her and Rowena demands for her to bring back her son, Crowley from the dead. Rowena is clearly still in a lot of pain over her son’s death and feels that it was unjust and cruel. Even though she is in the wrong with her actions, her vulnerability in this moment is heartfelt. After Billie tells Rowena that she will not be blackmailed, Rowena cannot follow through and kill Sam. Billie tells her that she knew she would never kill Sam, which shows how far Rowena has come. Rowena truly has loyalty and some love toward Sam and even though she knows he will kill her in the end, she still can’t take his life. Rowena still has the chance to be redeemed and agrees to help Sam and Dean. They warn her that Lucifer is still around, but Rowena tells them she is no longer afraid of him. After all, Sam is now the greater threat.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 17: “Chosen”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 17 last night, Zelena may be known as “wicked,” but it’s clear that all she really ever wanted was to be good. Even though she has made her fair share of mistakes, she deserves the chance to prove herself and to be loved for who she is. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet. In last night’s episode, “Chosen,” Zelena/Kelly goes to Rumple for help since the “Candy Killer” has targeted her as his next victim. Meanwhile, Nook/Rogers figures out that Henry never made it to New York, Drew/Naveen gets closer to Sabine/Tiana, and Hansel/Jack/Nick reveals his motives. My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 17 are:

“I am tired of playing candy crush with you.”

In this episode, we get to see more of Zelena’s past and learn about her interactions with the witch from “Hansel and Gretel.” Even though Zelena is known as “wicked,” she begins connecting to Hansel and Gretel’s father who is blind and begins to let her walls down. Zelena feels that he sees her for who she truly is, which is something she has never experienced before and she wants to help him in return. Zelena blinds the witch and offers to give her sight to Hansel’s father, but he declines when his children run to him, revealing that Zelena knew they were being held captive. Hansel’s father is furious that she kept this from him, even though she tries to explain that she was just trying to protect him. Zelena’s chance of happiness is destroyed here and her anger re-surfaces, burning harsher than the flames she inflicts on Hansel. It is clear why Hansel holds Zelena responsible for a lot of the misfortune in his life, but it doesn’t seem like this Zelena still exists anymore. Like Regina, Zelena has found her way to redemption, but it is hard to maintain this when old wounds insist on re-opening.

Hansel reveals his motives to Henry.

Henry is still being held captive by Hansel and tries to keep his cool by keeping Hansel talking. Hansel reveals that Henry gave him a second chance because “Jack” had no past and earned the potential to be a true hero, something that Hansel had never experienced before. He has absolutely no sympathy for witches, however; revealing that he believes they are all bad and that the arrival of Henry’s family is what set him off on this path of revenge. Henry is still confused by this, as he doesn’t understand why Hansel is saying that Kelly/Zelena is his aunt, still clinging to the reality he has come to know so well in H Town. Hansel shows Henry the blood test results proving that he is Lucy’s father, but Henry still tries to come up with a rational explanation here.

Rogers/Nook reads between the lines.

Nook/Rogers has his suspicions and approaches Jacinda/Ella and tells her that he found Henry’s car abandoned and that he never made it to New York. Jacinda reveals her naiveté about the situation and explains that this could not possibly be true since she received text messages from Henry earlier that day. Nook/Rogers reads between the lines and they figure out that only Hansel/Nick/Jack referred to her as “J.” Nook/Rogers finds Henry and rescues him. Good thing Nook/Rogers didn’t need to dust off his emoji decoding skills.

“Trust is a powerful thing.”

Drew/Naveen shows up again and it seems like him and Sabine/Tiana are getting closer, as he helps her with her food truck business. There are definitely sparks flying between these two, but we know that Drew/Naveen has another agenda. Later on, Dr. Facilier shows up and reminds Drew that he is there to collect a debt. Drew/Naveen gives him one of Sabine/Tiana’s beignets for some sort of voodoo ritual. Even though we know that Drew is working for Dr. Facilier, what are their plans for Tiana/Sabine? We know that Dr. Facilier has several plans all in play at the same time, especially when he visits Hansel later and reveals that he is the one who woke him up and orchestrated everything. Will this get him one step closer to obtaining the Dark One’s dagger? Will anyone be able to stop Dr. Facilier before it’s too late?

“Must be a bitch trying to keep track of your driver licenses.”

Zelena/Kelly reveals that in this reality, she actually has a good life. She even explains, “at least Kelly didn’t kill a munchkin,” and you can’t help but feel sympathetic toward her. Kelly has a simple life here, including the love from a good man and a daughter that she is trying to connect with. Hansel refuses to let Kelly live her life here and tries to make her suffer by kidnapping her fiancé, Chad. Kelly/Zelena shows up and reminds Hansel to focus his revenge on her, desperately trying to protect Chad. After the threat is over, Zelena/Kelly tells Chad about her jaded past, minus the fairy-tale details, and he still accepts her for who she is, which is absolutely heart-warming and beautiful. It looks like Kelly/Zelena has a chance of true happiness here with the man she loves and her family. Kelly/Zelena’s redemption is that much clearer in this moment. While she is far from perfect, her willingness to change and protect those she loves proves that she is far from a villain. She’s our hero!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 13: “Operation Hyacinth”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 13 last night, it’s true that love can be blind in more ways than one. In an effort to help others and find the killer, “Nook” ignores the very person who needs his help the most…his daughter. While it’s clear that “Nook” will need to follow his heart to get to the truth, perhaps he needs to open his eyes as well to the girl who has been practically pleading with him for help. But will it be too late once he figures it out? Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet. In last night’s episode, “Knightfall,” we learn more about Alice growing up locked in the tower and sympathize with Nook’s desire to help her, which even causes him to turn to one of his greatest enemies to do so. Meanwhile, Ivy/Drizella tries to pick up the pieces and truly change for the better, Henry leans on Regina’s shoulder for some guidance, and Lucy finally goes to see the one person who can help her save her father. My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 13 are:

“The calm before the storm.”

In the beginning of the episode, we learn more about Alice’s childhood and get a glimpse into her loving relationship with her father, “Nook.” Mother Gothel’s curse prevents Alice from leaving the tower, but “Nook” is not about to give up without trying. We learn that Alice is the one who created his beloved painting and they exchange their chess pieces before “Nook” goes off to find a way to save her. “Nook” refers to his daughter as “my little rook” and tells her that she is “the bravest girl he knows.” One cannot help but sympathize with “Nook,” who wants nothing more than to free his daughter from this magical prison. As a result, he turns to one of his greatest enemies, Rumpel and is ready to “make a deal.” While we know that we cannot trust the outcomes of Rumpel’s deals, “Nook” has no other choice but to try and see it through, not knowing where else to turn.

“I think it’s time we had a little talk.”

In present time, Nook/Rogers and Rumpel are trying to figure out who the killer is and what he or she wants with these witches before someone else is harmed. Mother Gothel/Eloise shows up with beyond perfect timing and is willing to help them as long as she can talk to Nook/Rogers alone. Rumpel begrudgingly agrees but is never too far away, as he has the camera working at all times to ensure he doesn’t miss anything. While it’s clear that Mother Gothel/Eloise cannot be trusted, she seems very much invested in trying to get Nook/Rogers to realize who he is. But what does she get out of this in return? While we don’t know her true intentions just yet, she is playing the part for now and seems somewhat willing to help them stop the killer.

“You will fail her again and again.”

After striking up a deal with Rumpel, “Nook” learns that he needs to retrieve “Maui’s Fish Hook,” bringing the Moana story-line into the mix. “Nook” quickly learns that another pirate possesses the magical weapon, Captain Ahab who is from Melville’s classic tale, Moby Dick. Captain Ahab clearly doesn’t seem willing to part with the weapon and “Nook” warns that “it’s a dangerous thing to call me old man.” After gambling to win the magical object, Captain Ahab is not about to leave without getting to the bottom of this. He follows “Nook” and realizes that he had no intention of killing Rumpel aka “The Dark One.” Nook’s pride gets in his way as the two participate in a pistol duel that determines “Nook” to be the winner but not without a consequence in the process. Mother Gothel anticipated that Nook’s pride would get in the way of his true mission and poisoned the bullet he was struck by, which created the magical curse that causes him great pain whenever Alice is near. “Nook” doesn’t want to believe that he will “fail her again and again” as Mother Gothel suggests, but in present day, he is currently failing to see the cries of help from Tilly. What is it going to take to wake “Nook” up so he can help his daughter in present time? Will his pride continue to get in the way? It seems like Mother Gothel is banking on this, but “Nook” still has time to follow his heart and put his pride aside to help Tilly.

“I think you could be the hero I need.”

After her mother, Victoria’s death, Ivy/Drizella is left alone to pick up the pieces. Henry goes to visit her when she is cleaning out her mother’s office and Ivy/Drizella tries to make romantic advances toward him to deal with her grief. Henry gently turns her down, but offers to still help her. Ivy really is a “wounded bird” at this point in time, not knowing what to do with her life. She finally realizes that her mother loved her all along and Henry suggests that she now try to make connections and amends with the rest of her family, which seems like a good starting point. After having a heart-to-heart conversation with Jacinda that ends in a believable hug, Ivy/Drizella is ready to “be the best person she can be.” The next step is to find her sister, Anastasia and Ivy/Drizella needs Henry’s help to do so. Has Ivy really turned over a new leaf? I’m hoping so, as we could really use her help to balance out the forces of good and evil.

“Operation Hyacinth.”

Just when it seemed like Henry and Jacinda were ready to share true love’s kiss, Lucy intervened when she found the page of the fairy-tale book that revealed that Henry would die if this were to happen. Lucy now tells her mother that she no longer wants her to see Henry, which is clearly breaking her heart. At the end of the episode, Lucy turns to the only person who can help her…Regina. She tells Regina what is going on and shows her the page, learning that Regina is awake. Regina is happy to help and tells her that when you save people, that “makes you a Mills.” “Operation Hyacinth” is on and Regina and Lucy are ready to help give Henry and Jacinda the happy ending they deserve. It’s about time!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 12: “H Town”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 12 last night, I wish I could get the opportunity to listen in on Henry’s full podcast, “H Town.” While he carefully unravels a mystery for his listeners, he is spot on when he asks the relevant question: “what could possibly happen next?” When one door closes on OUAT, fans know that several more are about to open, bringing new faces to town and dangerous enemies as well. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet. In last night’s episode, “A Taste of the Heights,” we finally learn more about Sabine/Tiana’s past, which introduces us to new characters like Doctor Facilier and Prince Naveen. Meanwhile, Rumpel finally throws his hat in the ring to uncover the mystery behind Lucy’s doctor’s death, Henry finds out about the mix tape Jacinda made him, and Regina’s jaded past catches up to her. My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 12 are:

Welcome back Rumpel!

So even though Rumpel has been in most of the episodes this season, it seems like he has been taking a back seat to the drama, which seems uncharacteristic and suspicious. Well that’s all about to change and it’s about time. Rumpel begins investigating the death of Lucy’s doctor and doesn’t believe for one second that it is pure coincidence that she died at the exact moment that Victoria did. He loops in Hook or “Nook” and explains that the lock of hair could mean that there is an evil in town extending past Eloise/Mother Gothel. Our two favorite detectives interview Hilda who runs a bakery. What’s her best seller? Gingerbread of course, which Rumpel points out, is really out of season. Hilda is blind and is clearly the witch from Hansel and Gretel. While initially it seems like she might know more than she is letting on, she is then attacked and a lock of her hair goes missing as well. Is this the work of Doctor Facilier? Seems likely when we think about voodoo magic, but we know that Rumpel and Nook are on the case.

“Food Truck Queen of the Heights.”

So I was thrilled that we finally got the opportunity in this episode to really get a glimpse at Sabine/Tiana’s back story. It really was perfect timing since Dr. Facilier and Prince Naveen have also conveniently shown up in town, now that Victoria is dead. While Tiana/Sabine recognizes that she is a perfectionist, she’s used to putting on a “one woman show,” as Naveen/Drew reminds her. Tiana always puts her people first in her past and tries to do what is right. In her present, she is quite nervous about her food truck debut and is heartbroken when the cop tells her she can’t debut at the event because she is missing her safety permit. While she initially blames Naveen/Drew, he does the right thing to win her trust and gives her his own safety permit. Swoon! While this seems to be bringing these two back together again, Doctor Facilier/Mr. Samdi shows up and tells Naveen that he did a good job winning her trust. Is Naveen/Drew really out for himself or will he do the right thing and be true to Tiana/Sabine?

“The dark one in denim. How quaint.”

Zelena was absolutely hilarious in this moment and I couldn’t help chuckling myself. While Rumpel may not have the best fashion sense, he is vital to bringing down the new threat in the Heights. When Rumpel approaches Regina and Zelena, Regina is initially angry because she tried to bring Rumpel into the fold much earlier. However, she recognizes that he might be the key to them saving Henry. They put two and two together and realize that someone is killing witches. This means that the threat is nowhere near over and it also means that Regina and Zelena are in danger themselves. Will they be able to stop this new threat before it’s too late?

“Word on the street is you made me a mix tape.”

While I can’t really buy Henry using the phrase, “word on the street,” this moment is absolutely adorable between him and Jacinda. Lucy is now awake and it seems like Henry and Jacinda’s romance can finally begin or begin again. Lucy is beyond excited and they invite Henry over for a game night. Lucy confides to Henry that it’s all real and that her grandmother, Victoria showed her the book. While she doesn’t know where the book is now, she is convinced that true’s love kiss will break the curse. However, Lucy finds a missing page of the book which reveals the truth that the kiss will end Henry’s life. She quickly intervenes just in the nick of time and stops the kiss from happening. Now that Lucy knows the truth, who will she turn to for help? Will Henry and Jacinda ever be able to get their happily ever after?

Regina’s past is revealed.

While it seems apparent that Doctor Facilier could be the evil threat everyone is talking about, I was shocked to learn that Regina had a romantic past with him. At the end of the episode, Regina pays him a visit and says, “You think you can just waltz into my town and pretend you’re cursed.” She asks him what he is here for, which is something we are all wondering, but Doctor Facilier does not appear to be intimidated by his former flame, Regina. Big mistake Doctor Facilier. If there is anything I know for sure, it’s that you don’t mess with Regina Mills!

Throw-back Sunday: Ranking the top 5 villains from “Charmed”

It’s Throw-Back Sunday TV Fans! For today, I have returned to one of my old favorites, Charmed, as I am currently on the last season of my re-watch. The Halliwell sisters are always fun to watch and truly know how to protect their innocents from the forces of evil with good magic. Even though most of their everyday foes are easily conquered with a Power of 3 spell, there are some villains on the show who just won’t go away…no matter how many times they vanquish them.

These villains become worthy opponents who continue to threaten the sisters over the seasons, trying desperately to bring down the infamous Charmed Ones. While some villains are just completely terrifying, others take the time for a well-thought out pun, while others are tormented by the darkness that continues to incessantly creep in, wiping out any goodness that may be inside.

Either way, these villains have paved their way into my top 5, refusing to sit back and let good conquer evil. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the series yet.

My top 5 villains from Charmed are:

Christy Jenkins

In the final season of Charmed, we are introduced to the character of Billie, who is a young witch eager to take on demons and excited to have the Charmed Ones as her mentors. We find out that Billie has a complicated past, however; and has unresolved memories about her older sister, Christy being kidnapped by a demon when they were children. We later learn that former villains, The Triad, are responsible for this and have been training and raising Christy to be an unstoppable force of evil.

The Triad anticipated that sister witches could be the ultimate power to take down the Charmed Ones. Christy initially pretends to be good to lure Billie to her side, but her childhood and innocence were corrupted long ago when she was taken, as she is unable to step away from the darkness. Billie has to ultimately kill her sister in an act of defense, which is unbelievably heart-breaking.

The very idea of putting sisters against sisters is a genius move of the Triad, but they are unable to predict that Billie’s goodness combined with the Halliwell sisters is too powerful for evil to tip the scale.

Zankou

An upper level demon who is after great power, Zankou initially appears to be on the side of the Charmed Ones, when he teams up with them and Agent Brody to stop the Avatars. He bids the Charmed Ones adieu, but they know this is not the last they will see of him. Zankou begins to re-organize the underworld in an attempt to steal the power from the Nexus, which is beneath the Halliwell manor.

He also tries to obtain the Book of Shadows, which he successfully manages to steal. Zankou stands out from other demons because he learns to anticipate their humanity, which so many other demons have failed to do in the past. He spies on them in their home and even reads Piper’s diary to get the full inside scoop on the Charmed Ones and their human emotions giving the term “know thy enemy” new meaning. This comes in handy later on when he causes the sisters to shake their bond, making the book and them vulnerable in the process.

Ultimately, the Charmed Ones are able to defeat Zankou by tricking him into absorbing the power of the Nexus so that they can cast a spell to destroy it and everything else in their path, causing the Charmed Ones to fake their own deaths in the process.

The Source

The Source is probably one of the scariest demons I have ever seen on Charmed. He initially cloaks his face with a dark hood, but later reveals his half-face which had been mutilated from his many battles in the past. The Source is the big bad that has been mentioned since the beginning of Charmed. Even Rex, Prue’s demonic boss, mentions that he won’t be pleased without revealing his name.

The Source is always after power and is no longer interested in sharing a balance between good and evil. He even takes in the power of the Hollow, which is forbidden, to try and kill the Charmed ones. The Source is also responsible for the death of the oldest Halliwell sister, Prue. His demon for hire, Shax is the one who kills her, shattering the lives of the Halliwell family. Later, he tries to corrupt Paige to his side, but he is no match for the power of family and love.

Even though The Source is beyond scary, he does take a few moments to toy with his enemy, taunting the sisters to “say hello to Prue for him.” However, this only enrages the sisters even further, using the magic of their entire ancestry line to stop him.

Barbas aka The Demon of Fear

Barbas first appeared in season one in one of my favorite episodes of all time where he appears on Friday the 13^th to take out 13 witches to free himself. He reads the fears of his victims and then uses that fear against them, causing them to die from what looks like a heart attack, as their hair turns completely white from the panic and fear. The victims truly believe that their fear is coming to life, which makes him a very dangerous demon to say the least.

Barbas targets the Charmed Ones and comes very close to killing Prue, preying on her fear of drowning. However, Prue is able to overcome her fear with love. Barbas is banished as he is unable to obtain the 13 witches he needs for freedom but he is never gone for good. Barbas has appeared as a recurring demon over the seasons, teaming up with other forces of evil to bring down the Charmed Ones. When the Charmed Ones go on trial, he leads the prosecution, bringing up evidence against the Charmed Ones in quite the compelling argument.

When the Charmed Ones get trapped in a parallel world where everything evil is good, they have to go to Barbas as the source of all good to help them. He is clearly one of the toughest enemies for the Charmed Ones and he is quite entertaining as well in the process.

Cole Turner

It should be no surprise that my favorite villain has to be Cole Turner. Cole first appears on Charmed in season 3 and is the love interest of Phoebe. Cole reveals that he is half-demon and half-human, which causes quite the internal conflict. His demon-side, Belthazor is an upper-level demon who is absolutely terrifying. However, his human side is tall, dark, and handsome, proving to be quite the charmer and an excellent lawyer.

Later in the series, Cole becomes the source of all evil, taking in the hollow to protect Phoebe and her sisters from the original source. When the sisters ask what happened to the powers of the source, the Seer says “into the void” with a knowing smile, as her plan to make Cole the new source has sprung into action. Cole cannot control the powers of the source but he refuses to give up Phoebe in the process, his love remaining true to her. He even corrupts Phoebe to darkness, tricking her into a dark wedding and impregnating her with the spawn of Satan.

The Charmed Ones are able to vanquish Cole but one learns that he is never gone for too long. Cole remains trapped in limbo, collecting powers of vanquished demons along the way to become an even greater threat with more powers than the sisters thought possible. Through it all, Cole tries to continue to change for Phoebe and hold on to their love, but he ends up being his own worst enemy. In an effort to change his fate and be with Phoebe, he tries to create a new world and goes back in time. This plan back-fires, however; as he is now in a time when it was possible for him to be vanquished as Belthazor.

Cole is vanquished on his 118^th birthday in the 100^th episode of Charmed and it seems like this one is for good. He makes a special appearance when Piper is trapped in limbo later on in season 7, however. Cole comes to her rescue and even sends Drake to Phoebe, to remind her about the importance of loving again, even though he will always be loving her just a little out of reach.

Either way, Cole is my favorite villain of all time on the series, proving that villains can find love too. Unfortunately for Cole, his own inner-conflict and pride get in the way, preventing him from ever finding the happy ending he so desperately wanted for him and Phoebe.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 13 episode 12: “Various & Sundry Villains”

Happy Friday TV fans! After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 13 episode 12 last night, you may want to think twice about this upcoming Valentine’s day. Be careful what or who you wish for or you may wind up under a love spell that leads to a pretty gruesome death. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet. In last night’s episode, “Various & Sundry Villains,” we meet the magical Plum Sisters who will stop at nothing to return their mother to the living. Rowena is back and is claiming to have changed from wicked to good, looking to score some help from the Winchester brothers. Meanwhile, Castiel and Lucifer try out being cell-mates, as Lucifer attempts to tap into his inner rage to unleash his power. My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 13 episode 12 are:

Meet Jamie & Jenny Plum.

“Always look your best. Never get attached to a man. And always make the death look non-magical so you don’t attract hunters.” Seems like good advice until the witch sisters, Jamie and Jenny beat their poor victim, Dale to death with a sledge hammer. New witches are in town which is never a good sign and they have their sights set on Dean Winchester to obtain the Black Grimoire. While the sisters are dangerous, they bring the fun as well, reminding us of films like “The Craft.” Sure their powers come from evil, but one can’t help being slightly sympathetic that they just want to reunite their family.

Rowena is back.

After Lucifer killed Rowena, fans were hoping that this wouldn’t be the last of our favorite witch. Rowena reveals that she had cast a sort of get out of death free spell which had its fair share of consequences, but nevertheless she is back among the living once again. Rowena approaches the Winchester brothers and offers to help them in exchange for a spell in the Black Grimoire. She claims it is only for protection, but is clearly very invested in obtaining more power. While Sam and Dean know better than to openly trust Rowena, they don’t really have much of a choice when the Plum Sisters successfully steal the book.

“There is no I in team Castiel.”

Castiel and Lucifer are cell-mates and Cas is getting sick and tired of listening to Lucifer whine about how he is drained of power. Refusing to let him tap into his own soul, Castiel tries pushing Lucifer to the limits by talking about how good Jack is and how he loves movies where the hero saves the day. Lucifer is horrified by this revelation and he quickly realizes that his rage is a good motivator for power. After Lucifer and Castiel escape, Castiel confronts Lucifer and tells him “this is me learning from my mistakes.” Castiel is not messing around and not even Lucifer will be able to walk all over him. Go Cas!

The Plum Sisters cast a love spell on Dean.

Dean comically gets hit with the love spell and is now head over heels for Jamie. The lovey dovey music combined with his stars in the eyes like glow is hilarious. Dean practically skips back home and confides to Sam about his love for Jamie. He even begins making room for her to move in. Sam immediately sees the problem here and tries to get Dean to see reason. Dean says “Am I alright? I’m in love!” Sam tries to stop Dean but he is knocked out by his brother in the process. Dean gives Jamie the Black Grimoire and just when he is about to hit him with a hammer, Sam saves the day. Luckily for Dean, Sam didn’t hold a grudge and was able to get there in the nick of time.

Sam and Rowena talk about inner demons.

Rowena admits to Sam that she feels scared and helpless all the time because she saw Lucifer’s true face and what she saw has been burned into her memory, constantly scratching at the surface. Sam explains that he also saw Lucifer’s true face and knows exactly what she is going through. He lets Rowena know that the scared feeling never really goes away and that’s important to find other things to focus on. Sam tries to distract himself by trying to help save his mother and Jack, but now that they are out of reach in another dimension, he is feeling the darkness pulling him down further and further. After Rowena’s “triple-cross” ends in shooting a “Zombie Mom” in the head and turning the Plum Sisters on each other for a gruesome death, Sam agrees to give her a page from the book to Dean’s disappointment. Has Sam made the right call? Will Rowena tap into too much power and become a threat worse than Lucifer? Perhaps, but I’m certain that Sam and Dean will not be too far behind to put a stop to it.

“Charmed” is Back for a Reboot! Ranking the top 5 couples from the original “Charmed.”

I have been recently re-watching one of my favorite television series of all time, Charmed for the 7^th time through and I was very interested to find out that the CW has requested a pilot order for the reboot of the show. It has been about 20 years since the show premiered and ran for 8 seasons with the magical Halliwell sisters portrayed by Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan, and Shannen Doherty. Holly Marie Combs is openly opposed to the reboot but Shannen Doherty is trying to stay positive. It’s understandable for there to be controversy around the reboot, as the original story and characters can never be replaced.

The original Halliwell sisters of Charmed still represent strong female characters to look up to and root for even re-watching today. That can never be replaced, but it would be exciting to see something similar for the new generation and something nostalgic for the rest of us who remember the series so well. 90210 had a reboot years later and even had special appearances by the show’s original cast, but it still doesn’t hold a candle to the original series and never will. Other shows featuring TV witches such as The Secret Circle and Witches of East End didn’t last for very long airing after Charmed was off the air so it’s hard to predict if the reboot will be able to have a successful run.

Similar to the spinoff proposed series of Wayward Sisters from Supernatural, the Charmed reboot has a real chance to capture an audience in desperate need of strong and smart female leads who can save the day from demons and deal with everyday problems. While I don’t know much about the pilot, it doesn’t seem like it will follow the lives of the next generation of Charmed ones, but may be set on a college campus with three new witches coming to power. Either way, I am all for giving the show a chance. How about you?

The attention around the Charmed reboot sparked my interest in discussing some of my favorite moments, episodes, characters, villains, and ships. For today, I will be discussing the most memorable couples/ships from the series. While some couples on the show do find their fairy-tale happy ending, others end a passionate bond in tragedy, breaking the hearts of our beloved Halliwell heroines along the way. Either way, their love was inspiring, fiery, and memorable. Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

My top five ships from Charmed are:

Paige & Kyle aka Agent Brody.

When Paige is introduced as the half-sister of Piper and Phoebe in season 4, she has to learn about her powers and new destiny very quickly to keep up with the rest of the Charmed ones. Paige steps into the role of the third sister seamlessly and really captures the sisterly bond, but her ultimate destiny focuses more on helping others through Magic School rather than on a romantic relationship.

Paige does have her share of relationships over the seasons, but the most memorable one for her would be with Kyle aka Agent Brody. Portrayed by the charming Kerr Smith, Kyle came to the sisters seeking revenge on the new big bad, The Avatars, who he believes are responsible for the death of his parents. Paige and Kyle instantly have a spark and move quickly into a romantic relationship.

One of my favorite moments is when they get trapped in a 1930’s novel set in black and white and need to solve a mystery to get back. They embrace the world, costumes and all, and end with a very passionate kiss, letting fans know that this is the start of something lasting for sure. Sadly, Kyle’s quest to take down the Avatars leads to his untimely death, separating him from his love, Paige. While Kyle does become a white lighter and implies that they may see each other again, the series ends without them together, as Paige finds love with Henry instead.

Prue & Andy.

In the first season of the show, Prue is handling a lot. She moves back in with her sisters, basically has to represent the mother-figure as the oldest sister, gets attacked at her new job, and is reunited with her childhood sweetheart, Andy. As if that isn’t enough, Andy is an Inspector for the police and is desperately trying to figure out why Prue is connected to so many of his unresolved cases.

Prue’s love for Andy is pure and true, but she tries to keep her distance from him to protect him. When Prue thinks that she may be able to trust Andy with her secret of being a witch, she casts a truth spell that lasts for 24 hours. To her dismay, Andy reveals that he would not be able to continue a relationship with her. At the end of the season, Andy sacrifices himself to protect Prue and her sisters.

Prue has a fleeting moment with him in limbo before he is gone forever and it’s now clear that he would have accepted Prue completely, secret and all. He just needed more time to fully process what she shared, which is completely understandable. Sadly for Prue, she has to say goodbye to Andy forever and is never really able to find anyone as worthy again.

Phoebe & Coop.

Out of all of the Halliwell sisters, Phoebe has gone through the most relationships. Toward the end of the series, fans were wondering who she would ultimately end up with and immediately spot the romantic tension between her and Cupid, Coop. Coop is there to lead the way for Phoebe to open her heart again and find love; only he ends up falling in love with her in the process.

Coop is funny and charming and is really the only worthy candidate for Phoebe to end up with since Cole is gone forever. While they don’t necessarily have the same passion she had with Cole, Phoebe does learn to truly open her heart again with Coop and finally get the family she has been dreaming of.

Phoebe & Cole.

This list would not be complete without including Phoebe and Cole. Cole is introduced in season 3 and is a demon who is half-human. While he initially tries to use his budding relationship with Phoebe to worm his way into the house to steal the Book of Shadows, Cole falls deeply in love with Phoebe, jeopardizing his cover and bringing his humanity to the surface.

Phoebe and Cole’s love is the most passionate on the show. They have this almost magnetic pull toward one another, which does lead to some rocky moments, however. Cole eventually becomes the source of all evil, even luring Phoebe to darkness for a while, but his love for her never fades. It seems like Cole has been vanquished several times, but he always finds a way to return, holding on to the hope that he can be with Phoebe.

When he is finally vanquished for good, Phoebe says that maybe “it wasn’t meant to be.” However, fans still cling to the idea of Phoebe and Cole ending up together. The downfall of Cole was too much, however; leading to his demise, but their connection to one another has always been undeniable. Cole leaves a goodbye letter for Phoebe that reads:

This letter is one of the most resonating moments for me on Charmed. Cole brought new life into the show and was one of my absolute favorite characters. While being one of the greatest villains for the Halliwell sisters, he is Phoebe’s ultimate weakness. Even when they were apart, Phoebe knew that she may never love anyone the same way again.

Piper & Leo.

My number one ship has to go to Piper and Leo as if there was any doubt! At the beginning of the series, their blossoming relationship is charming and real. Phoebe even initially competes with Piper to win Leo’s affection, but it’s always been clear where Leo’s heart lies. As Piper’s white lighter, it is forbidden for them to be together, but they cannot deny their connection.

Piper and Leo have been through so much together and Leo is even ripped away from her during their first attempt at a wedding. Ultimately, Piper and Leo are meant for each other. However, they go through quite a lot on the way and are tested constantly. Piper and Leo have two beautiful sons, Wyatt and Chris, and form a beautiful family together, constantly trying to keep this priority above all others.

While Piper is known for her quick temper, Leo balances her out and always keeps her calm. When they are apart, it’s truly heartbreaking, as fans recognize the selfless love these two have for one another. Piper and Leo do get their happy ending and keep their friendship and love strong in the process. There is something so believable and undeniable between Piper and Leo, still holding the test of time and reminding us what true love is all about.
