Ranking the top 5 moments from “Killing Eve” season 3 episode 8: “Are You Leading or Am I?”

Happy Monday TV fans! After watching BBC America’s Killing Eve season 3 episode 8, I learned that “we all have monsters inside of us. It’s just that most people manage to keep theirs hidden.”

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s season finale episode, “Are You Leading or Am I?” Villaneve takes center stage to bring us some passionate and real moments. Truths are revealed as Carolyn and Konstantin also face off.

My top 5 moments from Killing Eve season 3 episode 8 are:

5

“If Villanelle has retired, what’s left?”

In the beginning of the episode, Villanelle approaches Carolyn to accept her past job offer. She says that she is looking for a new challenge and wants to try something besides killing. You know, like spy stuff!

I have to say that Villanelle would make a great spy, but Carolyn is not so convinced that she needs her on the team anymore. Villanelle is trying to prove that she can change, but perhaps she needs to first believe it herself before she tackles a new path in life.

4

“I want to feel like that.”

We got plenty of Villaneve moments during the season finale and I have to say that the dance between them was truly amazing. Even though dancing is not really their thing, both Villanelle and Eve have been dancing their own version of a tango (or maybe really a Paso Doble) for quite some time now, so it was brilliant to see them actually dance together.

The tension and passion between them is beyond intense, but their moment in the spotlight is interrupted when another assassin shows up to bring Villanelle in for questioning.

3

“You don’t know what’s good for you.”

That may be true, as Villanelle tells Eve to collect Konstantin’s money while she deals with the other assassin. Eve needs to brush up on her undercover skills, but let’s not forget that she’s “not a very nice lady.”

Meanwhile, Villanelle deals with her competition and allows an oncoming train to do her dirty work.

Konstantin decides to check himself out of the hospital after eliminating Dasha for good and wants Eve to hand over the collection. Eve is not really buying it and Villanelle gets involved as well to make things even more complicated.

2

“This was inevitable.”

Meanwhile, Carolyn tells her daughter to leave while also coming across some new footage of Kenny. After learning that Konstantin was there on the day he died, Carolyn decides to take matters into her own hands.

We get an awkward meet up between Carolyn, Konstantin, Villanelle, Eve, and Paul, as Carolyn confronts Konstantin.

Konstantin fills in the blanks and explains that Kenny was getting too close to The Twelve, which is what we suspected. He told Kenny that he needed to come and work for The Twelve to try and protect him, but Kenny got upset and fell off the building in front of Konstantin.

Carolyn holds a gun up toward Konstantin as he begs for Villanelle to help him, but everyone seems to be frozen in place while this plays out. Carolyn decides to ultimately shoot Paul rather than Konstantin and tells him to leave before she changes her mind. It’s clear that Carolyn still has unresolved feelings for Konstantin, which spared his life, but she needed some kind of justice for her son’s murder.

Carolyn confesses that she is the one responsible, but Eve also reminds her that she just shot another connection to The Twelve. Eve is told by both Carolyn and Villanelle that “one cannot destroy The Twelve,” which seems to fuel Eve even more.

Will she be able to truly let things go? I’m not so sure, but we certainly get a lot of reveals during this finale.

1

“I just see your face over and over again…”

Toward the very end of the episode, Villanelle and Eve take a moment to have a real and honest conversation. Villanelle reminds Eve that she was never like everyone else and asks her about her future. Eve finally lets her guard down completely and explains that she just sees Villanelle’s face.

Villanelle asks her if she ruined her life and also asks her if she thinks that she is a monster. Villanelle doesn’t want to kill anymore, but she also seems just as lost as Eve. In the end, she tells Eve that they both need to turn around and walk away, leaving a space between them.

However, at the very end, they both turn around and look at each other, suggesting that even if they walk down a new path, their lives will be intertwined somewhat. In each season finale, we get some kind of space between them. In season one, Eve stabbed Villanelle and in season two, Villanelle evened the score and shot Eve.

In the season 3 finale, we still get this space between them, but it now seems like their is this understanding between them. They both recognize that they need to discover what to do next in their lives, but will they truly be able to move forward without looking back?

I’m not so sure. Either way, I thought this was a well done season finale and I can’t wait for season 4, which has already been confirmed!

Stay tuned!

Spoiler-Free Review of “The Witcher” on Netflix: Monsters, Magic and Melody

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

The world of a dark fantasy can be somewhat confusing, but with Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia, all bets are off.  We are quickly immersed into a world filled with terrifying nightmares, dark magic, and war, as we are reminded quite often about the importance of destiny while bursting into some welcomed song.

The Witcher began streaming episodes on Netflix as of December 20th 2019 and currently features eight episodes for season one.  Each episode is about an hour, so leave plenty of time to watch this.  It stars Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra.  If you are worried about the cliffhanger ending at the end of season one, fear not!

The Witcher has already been confirmed and renewed for season two by Netflix.

Based on the popular video games and book series, The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia on his monster hunting quest, as he tries to find his own purpose in the world while battling the forces of evil on a daily basis.  His destiny is linked to Princess Ciri, who ends up on the run during the war, and to Yennefer of Vengerberg, a powerful mage with her own inner demons.

Does The Witcher measure up to all the hype?  Let’s find out…

The Pros:

The Witcher Netflix 1

Wonderful characters and performances.

If you were worried about Henry Cavill, don’t be.  He’s absolutely fantastic!  Once you get over his tone of voice, you will thoroughly enjoy his performance.  Some of my favorite moments include the dynamic between him and the bard, giving us a lot of unexpected comedy and fun banter.

My favorite character is definitely Yennefer of Vengerberg, however.  Her story is so intriguing and interesting.  I got some Melisandre vibes from Game of Thrones, but that is not a bad thing at all.  I’m always more interested in the darker anti-hero rather than a character who is so obviously good.

Gore, action, and passion.

The Witcher is definitely not for the faint of heart.  The battle scenes are intense and there are some disturbing images and moments that I am still cringing over.  Of course these moments are also balanced out with a lot of sex scenes, but that’s to be expected.  I don’t think that anything was overdone or over-the-top, however.

The Cons:

The Witcher Netflix 2

A lot of characters and time jumps.

So, when you play a video game, you get a guide to reference and I often felt like I needed one of my very own to keep track of everyone.  There is a lot jam-packed into eight episodes and you really need to pay attention.

I also thought the time jumps were slightly confusing.  I didn’t get any text clues as to where we were in time and I had to figure it out on my own.  Again, I don’t really think this was a huge issue, but I did feel like I needed to take notes to figure out some things…

So am I in or out?

The Witcher Netflix 3

I’m in 100 percent!  Wow, this may be one of the best shows I have watched all year.  I’ll be honest, I went into this show expecting to be confused and overwhelmed.  I am familiar with the video games and books, but I wouldn’t say that I am that well versed in either.

From my understanding, the show fits in somewhere between these plots while giving us enough of a unique story, but you can watch this show without knowing anything about either one.  Trust me.

If you are a fan of shows or movies like Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, and Merlin, you will feel right at home, but I will say that you don’t need to be a fantasy fan to enjoy this series.  The story weaving is so intricate and well done and this show is beyond addicting.  Even though the episodes are long, I finished it in two days and as soon as I got to the end, I wanted more!

I highly recommend this show and I hope you enjoy it!

My Ship of the week ending 8/31/19 on TV goes to…

Justin and Jessica on Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why season 3.  So normally when I do these posts, there is something really swoon-worthy, passionate, or epic between a ship and I fall head-over-heels in love with them, but I am honestly really conflicted about this ship, but I still think it is worth a mention and perhaps a deeper discussion.  Please note major spoilers have been left out for your convenience.

In a lot of ways, Justin and Jessica have a toxic relationship and I didn’t really want to root for them after what was uncovered in season 1.  In season 3, Jessica is really finding her voice as a survivor and she is trying to get others to accept change, but she is also exploring her own sexual identity again, which is not easy to do.

Jessica knows that it is wrong to be with Justin because she initially wants to keep their relationship a secret.  That being said, these two have some beyond sexy moments in season 3 and it’s hard to ignore the passion that has been sparked between them.

As season 3 continues, Justin even starts to recognize that perhaps Jessica is better off without him.  Justin is an addict and they are both broken so this thought process actually makes sense to me, except perhaps throw in a little open honesty.  Jessica continues to stand by Justin’s side and tells him, “Your shit is my shit.”  Perhaps she could have chosen some other words here, but she gets her point across, reminding Justin that she has his back always and Justin would do anything for Jessica.

At the end of season 3, I was left wondering if this ship truly has the potential to make it and I’m honestly not sure.  I personally think that Justin needs to actually deal with his addiction and recover from that before he can even attempt to be in a relationship.  Jessica is strong and powerful, but she is also still broken in a lot of ways and will she every truly be able to get over the past when she looks at Justin?

What’s next for Justin and Jessica?  I’m honestly not sure what season 4 holds for these two, but I am trying to keep an open mind.  I guess what I actually ship here is the potential for something real in the future rather than the present state of their relationship.

Maybe it will never happen and maybe it’s not meant to, but I can’t ignore the chemistry and friendship between these two and they do have some really adorable moments together.  I just think that they both need to find out who they are apart…and if their paths cross again in the future and they are ready to give it a try, perhaps this can be the start of a beautiful relationship.

What are YOUR thoughts on Justin and Jessica?  Toxic and unstable or charming and sweet?

Stay tuned for a recognized Ship on TV each week!

My Ship of the week ending 3/23/19 on TV goes to…

Cheryl and Toni on Riverdale, better known as Choni!  So, lately my heart has been sinking because my favorite couple on the show has been drifting apart and I feared that they might break up forever.  Cheryl channeled her rage into the Heathers musical in episode, “BIG FUN,” and Toni has been searching for her own identity for a few episodes now.  Cheryl and Toni continued to clash during the musical, which led to some serious tension, as Cheryl began resorting back to her mean girl ways.  However, Toni later approached Cheryl to get to the root cause of Cheryl’s anger, revealing a lot about what Cheryl thinks about love.  This gave Choni fans the opportunity to see a glimmer of hope and love between these two.  It doesn’t always have to be “all or nothing,” as relationships are about compromise as well.

The epic kiss between these two reminded us that the passionate spark has not burned out just yet and hopefully Cheryl and Toni can work together to build back an even stronger relationship.  Cheryl and Toni have a love that is passionate and beautiful, but it is much more than the steamy moments together.  Toni has been such an important influence on Cheryl’s life, showing her that she does not always need to keep her guard up.  In return, Cheryl has provided Toni with the opportunity to truly show off her talent, always seeing the potential and the good in her, which has helped Toni believe in herself.

What’s next for Choni?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but I would love to see these two continue to build up their relationship.  Cheryl and Toni are both very passionate women and sometimes tempers flare, but I’m hoping that they can talk things out, rather than pushing each other away, because these two are absolutely end game for me!

Stay tuned for a recognized Ship on TV each week!

Ranking the top 5 couples from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”

“If my heart could beat, it would break my chest” (Spike).  When you think about epic love, what comes to mind?  Is it that indescribable feeling that you get within your gut?  Is it the tears that pour down your face when you witness a significant moment that will change your outlook on love forever?

I think that epic love can be described in so many different ways and that is what makes it so incredibly powerful.  It can be passionate and fiery or even one-sided, but there is something to be said about the things we do for love.  As I am re-watching one of my all time favorite television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I have realized that Joss Whedon does an incredible job of introducing us to so many great loves on the show.  They don’t end up living happily ever after, but that’s what makes them so real and consuming.

We watch our favorite characters go through heartbreaking moments, as they desperately try to pick up the pieces when it seems impossible to do so.  However, we cannot deny the chemistry and beautiful connections they have shared, touching our hearts and souls in the process.  Please note spoilers are ahead.

My top five ships from Buffy the Vampire Slayer are:

5

Giles & Jenny

Giles and jenny collage

Giles:  In my years as watcher, I’ve buried too many people.  But Jenny was the first I loved.(Passion, season 2 episode 17)

The budding romance between Giles and Jenny was absolutely delightful to watch.  Even though they both often spent their time supervising Buffy and the Scoobies, they had some undeniably sweet moments together and real chemistry.  Jenny often teased Giles and he would get baffled in front of her, which was absolutely adorable.  However, a strain was put on their relationship after Jenny was possessed by a demon targeting Giles.

We then later found out that Jenny was sent to Sunnydale to watch Angel, as her ancestors were responsible for the curse of his soul.  Giles supported Buffy here and kept Jenny at a distance, but Buffy eventually let go of her anger and confided to Jenny that Giles did truly miss her.

In the episode, “Passion,” it looked like Giles and Jenny were finally going to get the romantic evening they deserved.  Only Angelus ripped this chance at happiness away from them.  Angelus killed Jenny to prevent her from cursing him again, but took this tragic moment much further when he staged a romantic evening for Giles at his home.  Giles walked in to rose petals and opera music with champagne and a note reading, “upstairs.”  To Giles’s horror, he discovered Jenny’s lifeless body on his bed, as the champagne glasses shattered along with his heart and ours.

4

Xander & Anya

Xander and anya collage

Xander:  I’ve gotta say something cause I don’t think I’ve made it clear.  I’m in love with you.  Powerfully, painfully in love.  The things you do, the way you think, the way you move…I get excited every time I’m about to see you.  You make me feel like I’ve never felt before in my life.  Like a man.  I just thought you might wanna know. (Into the Woods, season 5 episode 10)

There is something to be truly said about the quirky and adorable love between Xander and Anya.  Anya initially came to Sunnydale as a demon to grant Cordelia’s wish in season 3, but she ended up human when this backfired.  Anya soon found herself attached to Xander and the two started an interesting relationship together.  While it first seemed like a relationship of convenience, Xander began to truly fall in love with Anya.

Even though Anya typically said the wrong thing at the wrong moment, you couldn’t help but adore her.  Anya also started to truly feel for Xander, which really helped her develop as a mortal, as she finally started to understand what it meant to be human.

When Xander and Anya were about to get married, I thought that two of our favorite characters were going to get the happily ever after ending that they deserved.  Only Xander had second thoughts and didn’t go through with the wedding after witnessing how his father treated his mother and seeing something similar in an alternate future for him and Anya.

This moment is truly heartbreaking, as Anya loved Xander so completely.  Xander felt like he was doing the right thing here, but my heart goes out to Anya.

3

Buffy & Spike

Buffy and spike 12 2 18

Spike:  I’m not asking you for anything.  When I say I love you, it’s not because I want you or because I can’t have you.  It has nothing to do with me.  I love what you are, what you do, how you try…I’ve seen your kindness and your strength, I’ve seen the best of you and the worst of you and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are.  You’re a hell of a woman.  You’re the one, Buffy.  (Touched, season 7, episode 20)

I always felt a spark between Buffy and Spike even when they were mortal enemies.  There was just an undeniable sense of desire between them and I often used to wonder about what would happen if they ended up together.

In the episode, “Something Blue,” fans got a chance to see a potential for these two when Willow’s spell went horribly wrong and Buffy and Spike said that they were getting married.  When Spike got the chip in his head, he was no longer able to hurt anyone, but this became even more complicated for him when he became infatuated with Buffy.  Spike’s feelings for Buffy started out somewhat stalker-like, as he would wait outside her window and even steal her panties here and there.

However, Spike revealed true potential and friendship when he sat next to Buffy on her porch after she learned that her mother was very sick.  Buffy and Spike remained here in silence and Spike awkwardly patted her back, letting her know that he was truly there for her.

Later on in the series after Buffy came back from the dead, she was desperately trying to feel something and her and Spike shared an epic kiss at the end of the episode, “Once More, With Feeling,” leaving fans completely shocked.  Buffy started a dark relationship with Spike, as she tapped into her desires, keeping her relationship with him a secret at first.  Later on, their relationship got even more complicated when Spike attacked Buffy sexually, which was extremely difficult to watch.

Spike left town, horrified by his actions, and ended up earning his soul, which gave him a real chance to redeem himself.  Even though Buffy and Spike did not get a chance to truly work out, Buffy did appreciate everything he did for her and Spike truly became a man because of her.

There’s something to be said about true love redeeming someone who started out so evil.  Spike became a hero one could be truly proud of, performing selfless acts because of his unconditional love for Buffy, which sparked the humanity within his vampire soul.

2

Willow & Tara

Willow and tara 12 2 18

Tara:  Even when I’m at my worst, you make me feel special.  How do you do that?

Willow:  Magic. (Family, season 5, episode 6)

While I always shipped Willow and Oz, I felt so incredibly heartbroken when Oz left town.  I was beginning to wonder if Willow would ever find true love and we were all lucky enough to witness the beautiful love and friendship between Willow and Tara.  Willow and Tara met in Wicca club and quickly discovered that they were the only two members of the group to have any real powers.  Willow was very interested in experimenting with witchcraft and magic and she shared so many intimate things with Tara, as their friendship blossomed into something more.

Willow and Tara have always had such a pure and magical love.  Tara’s heart had always belonged to Willow and she was even willing to let her be happy when Oz returned, but Willow could not deny where her heart belonged now.  When her and Tara blew out the candle together, they were ready to fully explore their feelings for one another.

In a tragic moment later on in the series, Tara was shot and killed in front of Willow.  Her lifeless body collapsed in Willow’s arms, as Willow’s grief escalated into pure darkness and vengeance, as her dark magic consumed her.  Even though Willow got another chance at potential love later on in the series, nothing can compare to her love with Tara, which is something so transcendent and beautiful.

Some honorable mentions before revealing my number one ship are:

  • Willow & Oz
  • Spike & Drusilla
  • Xander & Cordelia
  • Spike & Harmony
  • Buffy & Riley

1

Buffy & Angel

Buffy and angel 12 2 18

Angel:  Are you still my girl?

Buffy:  Always. (Enemies, season 3 episode 17)

My number one ship has to go to Buffy and Angel.  Giles got it right when he said, “A vampire in love with a Slayer.  It’s rather poetic.”  There is something so completely romantic about these two together. It’s almost like we are trapped within a dark fairy-tale, as we witness the emotional roller coaster ride between them.  Ever since Angel first saw Buffy, he loved her and wanted to help her.

Buffy gave Angel a true sense of purpose, as he did not know how to live with his soul previously.  Buffy and Angel’s love has always been complicated, however.  They have some unbelievably romantic moments together and some hot and steamy ones as well.  After Buffy and Angel make love for the first time, the unthinkable happens when Angel experienced a moment of “true happiness” and lost his soul, as the monster, Angelus, returned.  Angelus began tormenting Buffy and her friends, which was so cruel and heartbreaking.

I remember crying along with Buffy so many times after witnessing what she had to go through.  To make matters even worse, Angel’s soul was returned right at the moment that Buffy needed to kill him to prevent a demon from swallowing the world.  Buffy made the ultimate sacrifice when she told Angel to “close his eyes” and kiss her, right before she stabbed him with her sword.  Buffy left town after this, as she could not bear to handle it, but Angel soon returned from hell, as his purpose was not over.

Buffy and Angel tried out being friends, but learned that they could really never be just friends, as Spike pointed out.  They both desperately want to be close to one another, but knew that they could never have a true chance at a real life together.  Angel wanted Buffy to have a normal life, rather than keeping her hidden in the shadows, and ended up leaving town.

Before Angel left, he surprised Buffy at the prom and the dance between them was so beautiful and romantic, as the rest of the world seemed to just fade away, leaving only Buffy and Angel together.  Even though Buffy and Angel do not end up together, their love is so powerful and undeniable.  Buffy and Angel will always love one another and I will always continue to ship them.

Their love is beyond messy, but there is something truly perfect about it as well, reminding us that epic love is never easy, but there is really nothing like it in the world.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own comments and thoughts about your favorite ships on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Affair” season 4 episode 7: “I Wish I Had Your Life”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s The Affair last night, I realized that sometimes you have to just let the fear in and embrace it.  You may want to maintain control over your emotions or keep your feelings locked away, but sometimes facing what scares us the most and saying it out loud can make a world of difference.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “407,” Helen decides to go to Joshua Tree with Sierra to attend a moon circle.  Meanwhile, Noah continues to involve himself in Janelle’s family affairs and then receives an unexpected phone call from an old friend.  My top 5 moments from The Affair season 4 episode 7 are:

5

“Eventually you get old enough and start to figure shit out.”

Part one of the episode is from Helen’s perspective and she impulsively decides to go to Joshua Tree with her neighbor, Sierra, even though she initially dismissed the previous invitation.  Helen’s reaction to the idea of the moon circle is hilarious, but she does get the opportunity to step away from her life for one night.  After the women at the circle write down their fears, the Guru begins reading them out loud and Helen provides each of them with really great advice.  Helen has experienced a lot of what they are going through now and her wisdom is very much appreciated.  The Guru passes the baton to Helen for the night, as she touches each and every one of them with her advice.  Maybe Helen has another calling she has yet to tap into just yet.  Either way, it was great to see Helen finally let her guard down for just a moment to really make an impact with these women.

4

“I’m not doing it for him.”

In part two of the episode, we see everything from Noah’s perspective and he is surprised when Anton shows up at his home to ask for his advice on whether or not to join the Marines.  Noah stays neutral and suggests that he at least go and see Princeton for himself before making a rash decision.  Noah also explains the importance of involving Janelle in this decision.  Janelle’s ex-husband, Carl, is not happy to see Noah back at his home again and asks him, “don’t you have your own family?”  Noah believes in Anton and does not want to see his potential go to waste.  Later in the episode, Janelle shows up at Noah’s home late and thanks him for what he did.  Noah agrees to take Anton to Princeton so that Janelle can focus on the board meeting and she is happy to see him standing up for her son.  The moment we have been waiting for has finally arrived, as Noah and Janelle enjoy a passionate night together without interruption.  While I’m not sure where they will pick up now that Alison is missing, it seems like this might be the first stable relationship Noah has had in a very long time.

3

“Control is really hot.”

In part one, Helen and Sierra continue bonding in their tent.  Sierra clearly feels guilty about sleeping with Vik, but decides to act on her growing feelings for Helen.  She passionately kisses Helen and the two share an intimate moment together.  While I had seen hints and implications at this earlier in the season, it’s nice to see Helen finally enjoy a moment for herself, as she is always so busy being needed by everyone in her life.  Sierra makes her feel wanted and free, as she is able to take a moment to truly relax and give in to what she wants.  She deserves it!

“I don’t want you to die.”

After Helen goes into the deprivation tank, she begins to panic in the small space.  Sierra opens the tank and asks her if she is all right, but Helen just needs to get out of there, as she takes off quickly in the car.  When Helen returns home, she immediately rushes over to Vik and reveals her own fear out loud.  Helen finally had the epiphany she was searching for and doesn’t want to waste another second.  She tells Vik that she doesn’t want him to die and Vik promises her that he won’t.  This moment was truly something significant and special for Helen and Vik.  Ever since his diagnosis, Vik has been focused on the statistics and the reality of his situation, but in this moment with Helen, he finally allows his heart and emotions to take over.  Whether he believes that he will not die or not, Vik understands the importance of holding on to the belief that he could be OK, giving Helen the glimmer of hope she so desperately needed.  We know that Helen has been speaking about starting menopause, but perhaps a baby is not so far off now.

“So who’s coming to get us?”

After Noah and Anton miss their connecting flight to New York, Noah notices that he has several missed calls from Cole.  He is finally able to answer and is shocked to hear what Cole has to say.  All of the pieces have now come together, as we finally catch up to the present day timeline, understanding how Cole, Noah, and Anton all end up together in the same car.  When Cole picks them up, Noah tries to stay positive, but Cole is clearly beyond worried that something terrible has happened to Alison.  Will they be able to find out what happened to Alison before it’s too late?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Affair below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Younger” season 5 episode 5: “You Become What You Do”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching TV Land’s Younger season 5 episode 5 last night, I learned that we might not always know what the future holds for us, but that doesn’t mean that running away is the answer.  Even if we think that there is nothing left for us somewhere, a glimmer of hope can still prevail, proving that “you can’t go wrong committing to yourself.”  Do we take the leap of faith or do we opt for the safe choice?  It’s impossible to know which option will work out better and both may fail miserably, but if we don’t try, we’ll end up with something even worse, regret.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Big Little Liza,” Liza continues her relationship with Don, but is in for a surprising twist.   Meanwhile, Josh contemplates leaving New York, Lauren gets schooled on what is relevant, and Kelsey grows closer to her author, Jake.  My top 5 moments from Younger season 5 episode 5 are:

5

“I don’t want to share you tonight.”

Kelsey and Zane’s new author, Jake, invites Kelsey to be his plus-one at a party.  It seems harmless enough, but as the night goes on, it’s clear that Jake has romantic feelings for Kelsey.  After taking her on the rooftop away from the rest of the party, he awkwardly asks her if he can kiss her, but Kelsey doesn’t turn this request down.  They share a kiss and Kelsey starts to realize that their relationship may not just be professional anymore.  Zane is not blind to Jake’s growing crush on Kelsey and reminds her, “You’re too smart to do something to jeopardize this.”  Zane is looking at this from a business angle, but there may be some jealousy involved as well.  Is Kelsey making the right decision?  I still feel that she is better suited for Zane, but it may take losing him for her to realize that he could be the one.

4

“Please keep your mingling to a minimum.”

Lauren is preparing for a make-up event and introduces us to her new intern, Tam.  After Josh asks who he is, Lauren reminds him that “you can’t just assume everyone’s pronouns buddy,” and explains that “their name is Tam.”  At the party, Lauren tries to school Liza and Maggie on what’s appropriate and on trend, but Maggie hilariously says, “I was less confused in the closet.”  After Lauren fails to get Tam to commit to a Selfie or a photo with her, he tells Lauren that she is trying too hard and that no one even posts anymore.  Lauren is shocked to realize that she is now considered “old,” as she has always prided herself on knowing what’s relevant before everyone else.  Will this cause Lauren to have a further crisis or will she be able to accept who she is and own it?

3

“Your life is your life but why are you smashing your face into bread?”

The funniest part of the episode for me is when Liza discovers that her daughter, Caitlin, is into “breadfacing.”  Liza is horrified by this and tries to understand it, but Maggie does not hold anything back when she explains that people are definitely “jerking off” to what she is doing.  After several failed attempts to reach Caitlin by phone, Liza sits down at dinner with her and asks her why she is doing this.  Caitlin explains that it is just for some extra money, but Liza reminds her that “you are what you do,” which is advice that she can apply to her own situation as well.  Liza hilariously begins rubbing her own face against a loaf of bread at dinner to get Caitlin to see her point, proving that she doesn’t care what anyone thinks.  However, she still feels the need to lie about her age at her job.  Even though Charles has explained why she must continue to lie, it seems like Liza can take some lessons from her older and wiser self.

2

“I’m not ready to give up yet.”

In this episode, we learn that Josh needs to make a huge decision on whether or not to stay in New York and continue his lease for the next ten years.  Josh has clearly been damaged by commitment and starts to wonder if he might be better off starting fresh somewhere else.  He confides in Liza about this and tells her that he feels like he is done with this place.  Liza desperately tries to get him to see the good and tells him that, “this place is your passion, your soul.”  She reminds him that “you can’t go wrong committing to yourself,” but Josh is still confused at this point on what he should do.  He asks her what is keeping him there and explains that he doesn’t have her, even though Liza tells him that she will always be a part of his life.  Later in the episode, Liza freaks out when she sees the Inkburg sign being taken down and rushes up to Josh to try and get him to change his mind.  Josh explains that he is just replacing it with a bigger sign to her relief.  Josh and Liza embrace in a hug and it’s hard not to notice the spark still lingering between these two.  Josh tells Liza that he’s not ready to give up yet, but it’s clear that he is talking about more than New York and his place of business.  Josh and Liza still have unresolved feelings that will reach the surface sooner or later, but this doesn’t make their friendship or relationship any less complicated at the moment.  Either way, I am happy that Josh will be sticking around.

1

“I think I might know why you can’t find work.”

In this episode, Don returns and him and Liza seem to be hitting it off.  While I don’t really see the passion like with her and Charles or with her and Josh, Don seems to be a nice enough guy who is making Liza laugh.  After Liza slips on the ice, Don picks up her two ID cards and Liza tells him the truth about her situation.  Liza quickly learns that you can’t trust everyone and Don uses this as an opportunity to expose Liza in a story for Vanity Fair.  A Fact Checker begins calling Liza, Kelsey, and even Reese Witherspoon’s company, looking for confirmation on Liza’s age.  Liza panics when she is asked for an answer, but thinks on her feet and says that she is “age queer” and doesn’t identify with any age.  Kelsey jumps on the bandwagon as well and surprisingly this works and even creates a buzz on Twitter.  Later on, Liza confronts Don and he reminds her that he was just doing what he needed to do and is no different from her.  Liza reminds us why we adore her so much when she tells Don that she thinks she knows why he is having trouble finding work and says, “Because you’re an asshole Don.”  I have to admit I started cheering for her in this moment and I hope that Liza realizes that she deserves much better.  However, this should teach her a valuable lesson about trust and maybe it’s about time that the truth comes out to everyone, even though there will be consequences.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Younger below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 couples from “Once Upon a Time”

“I’m a fan of every part of you” (Hook to Emma).  Happy Saturday TV fans!  I invested quite a bit of time over the years into watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time and one of the main reasons why I love the show so much is because I fell in love with the characters and found myself constantly rooting for different ships to make it against all odds.

OUAT does an excellent job of providing us with nostalgia from some of our favorite fairy-tales, but the writers were never afraid to shake things up and present us with a ship that we may have never predicted or some that initially seemed unconventional.  However, once we detected the undeniable sparks between some of these characters, it was quite easy to imagine their stories intertwining.

Villains got their first glimpse at what true love looked like and learned that it was never too late to change and that it was possible to still achieve a happy ending.  While some ships supported each other no matter what, others had to face many trials and obstacles, testing their love for one another constantly.

Some of our favorite ships have been ripped apart brutally and while some were lucky enough to experience their happy ending together, others were not able to do so, but their love still remained unchanging, teaching them to hold on to the goodness still within them and to open their hearts to everyone around them.  An OTP or one true pairing is difficult to find, but these characters below certainly achieved this title, making us believe that true love is possible but it is far from easy to hold on to.

These characters learned never to take their love for granted and would do anything for the other.  Their love for one another helped shaped them into who they were meant to be, inspiring hope throughout their epic stories.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the series yet.  My top five ships from Once Upon a Time are:

5

Rumple & Belle

Ship name:  Rumbelle

Rumbelle 6 16 1

“But that monster is gone. And the man beneath him may be flawed… but we all are. And I love you for it. Sometimes the best book has the dustiest jacket. And sometimes the best teacup is chipped.”

When I first learned that Rumple was also the “beast” in Belle’s story, I was not sure how I felt about this.  Rumple had already been presented as a major villain and it made sense that he would also fit right in as a “beast” or a “monster” in another story or realm, but I wasn’t sure if Rumple would truly be able to shed his wicked ways and learn to love Belle.  However, I changed my mind when I saw Belle looking at Rumple with pure love and acceptance.

When they danced together, it was like the story of “Beauty and the Beast” opened up a new chapter filled with a chance at redemption.  Rumple was one of the most devious villains on the show and somehow Belle was able to get through to him and show him that there was a different path that he could take; a path that led to love and a family, even if they had a rocky journey ahead of them.

Belle always saw the good in Rumple but was hurt many times by him as well when he allowed the darkness to consume him, putting his agenda above his love for Belle without always realizing it.  In season 7, Rumple was desperately trying to rid himself of the Dark One’s dagger and get back to Belle so that they could be together, but ultimately realized that this might never happen and sacrificed himself to save his friends and family.

Rumple’s actions were truly selfless and he was greeted by Belle in limbo so that they could finally be together always and forever.

4

Snow & Charming

Ship name:  Snowing

Snowing 6 16 1

“True love isn’t easy, but it must be fought for because once you find it, it can never be replaced.”

This list would not be complete without including Snow White and Prince Charming.  When the series first began, there was a lot of focus on these two and it was adorable to see their “meet cute” when Snow got caught in the net by Charming.  Out of all of the ships on the series, Snow and Charming are the most stable and constant.  No matter what was thrown at them, they always found their way back to one another and they never gave up on each other.

Even when Charming didn’t remember Snow in Storybrooke, their love was able to seep through, ultimately reminding them that they did belong together.  Emma is the daughter of Snow and Charming and their unconditional love for her made them even stronger.  While their story was often presented as less complicated than some of the other ships on this list, their love was selfless, kind, and unwavering.

3

Regina & Robin

Ship name:  Outlaw Queen

Outlaw queen 6 16 1

“Our story was so short.  Doesn’t make it any less epic.”

Out of all of the ships on this list, I have to say that I was initially rooting for this couple above all others.  Regina started out as an evil queen with only coldness and revenge in her heart.  However, her feelings for Robin were beautiful and heartwarming.  They were never lacking passion and it seemed like Robin was the absolute perfect match for Regina.

It was predicted that Regina’s true love was a mysterious man with a lion tattoo and when this was revealed as Robin, it was impossible not to root for these two to end up together.  Robin was able to see that Regina had clearly changed and was ready to become a good person.  Robin sacrificed himself to protect Regina just shortly after they talked about their future together, which made this moment even more heartbreaking.  Even though Regina and Robin did not end up together, Robin was always with her in her heart.

In the series finale, Regina was dreaming and Robin visited her.  She told him how much she missed him and explained she may be joining him.  Regina clearly remembered being a villain and started to think that maybe this was what she deserved.  However, the goodness in her was articulated by Robin, who told her that she was able to move her dark actions to the light and that was all because of her.  He told her that “her life is proof that no one’s path is set.” Robin provided Regina with the strength she needed when it seemed like the world was against her.

When he revealed to her how epic their love was, this was one of the most beautiful moments on the show.  While it seemed beyond unfair that these two could not be together, we know that Robin would always be in Regina’s heart, reminding her that her new path is one of goodness and love.

2

Alice & Robin

Ship name:  Mad Archer

Mad Archer 6 16 1

“I told you we’d always know each other.”

Alice and Robin, also known as Tilly and Margot, possessed a pure and beautiful love.  Fans could not help falling in love with these two, as they reminded us what true love is all about and fans are still talking about them now.  Fan fiction and requests for a Mad Archer spin-off are everywhere and I have to say that I absolutely agree.  There is just something about Alice and Robin that bring us right back to the first moment where we may have experienced love ourselves.

I’m talking about those over-the-top feelings of butterflies in your stomach and smiling constantly for no reason at all.  When Robin/Margot awkwardly asked Alice/Tilly out on a date and explained she was wearing lip gloss, it was impossible not to identify with these lovely ladies.  Their shyness and awkwardness made them even more lovable and it’s like we were along for their journey, as they tried to get to know one another and shared their dreams and secrets.  Both Alice and Robin had a strong sense of doing what’s right and supporting family and friends no matter what, which made their relationship that much more powerful.

As individual characters they were remarkable, but as a team they were truly something special.  When they finally remembered each other and shared a passionate kiss, it was like you could see the imaginary fireworks going off around them, as fans everywhere cheered.  While we know that they are engaged at the end of the series, their story is far from over and it would be amazing to see a wedding between these two.  After all, Nook should get the chance to walk “Starfish” down the aisle.

1

Hook & Emma

Ship name:  Captain Swan

Captain Swan 6 16 1

“When I win your heart Emma, and I will win it. It won’t be because of any trickery. It will be because you want me.”

My number one ship has to go to Hook and Emma.  When the devilishly handsome Captain Hook sailed into our hearts on OUAT, he initially was out for revenge.  While Hook innocently flirted with Emma from the start, his love for her allowed him to grow as a character and to learn from his wicked past.  Hook was always used to taking the easy way out and making decisions based on how well it suited him.

Emma changed this perspective, however; proving that he could be a selfless man.  When Hook realized his strong feelings for Emma, he even backed down and explained that she should be with Neal so that Henry could have his family all together.  Hook truly loved Emma at this point, but was willing to sacrifice this so that she could find happiness.

Later, when they did end up together, Emma consumed the power of the Dark One and evil corrupted her heart.  The only thing that could bring her back to goodness was Hook’s love for her and his willingness to sacrifice himself to save her.  Emma and Hook had one of the most beautiful relationships on television and their wedding at the end of season 6 was touching and heartwarming.  Hook’s love for Emma transformed him from a villain into a hero one can be proud of, who would never stop fighting for the one he loves.

In the series finale, we finally got to see Hook and Emma again along with their beautiful baby daughter, Hope.  The name of their child is absolutely perfect, symbolizing what kept them going strong all this time.  Emma and Hook never lost hope in each other and it’s wonderful to see that they are starting the next chapter of their lives together.  And so they lived happily ever after…

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to share some of your own thoughts and comments on your favorite ships on OUAT.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments featuring Betty Cooper from “Riverdale” season 2: “You Have No Power Over Me”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  Even though we will have to wait quite some time for season 3 of Riverdale to premiere on the CW, there is still plenty to discuss.  For today, I am going to be recapping and ranking the top 5 moments featuring our very own Nancy Drew, Betty Cooper.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the full season yet.  Betty may seem like the model of bubble gum perfection on the surface with her glossy ponytail and sweater sets, but there is a darkness brewing within her, clawing at the surface.  Betty proves to be intelligent and always one step ahead, even solving mysteries that the local Sheriff has trouble with.  In season 2, the Black Hood reveals that he has a fascination with Betty, calling her over and over and presenting her with new obstacles along the way.  While Betty has the support of Jughead and her friends and family, she ends up internalizing a lot of her feelings, not wanting to trouble them with her own inner demons.  What makes Betty such an amazing character is that she is far from perfect and some of my favorite moments below reflect that.  Ultimately these moments are what shape Betty into the powerful woman she has now become.  Without tapping into her darkness, she would have never found the strength within to conquer it.  When Betty discovers the true identity of the Black Hood, her world begins to fall apart, as she starts to question everything, including her own moral compass.  Betty proves to be even stronger than one could have imagined when she courageously goes to face the Black Hood and find some much needed closure.  While Betty may now be crowned the new Queen of the Serpents with Jughead by her side, she was already proving just how powerful she really is by standing up for herself, her mother, and anyone who threatens the balance of good and evil in Riverdale.  My top 5 moments featuring Betty Cooper from Riverdale season 2 are:

5

Betty’s Serpent Dance. (Moment from Season 2, episode 8)

When Betty and Alice Cooper show up to the party, these ladies have their hair down and prove that they are a force to be reckoned with.  Alice’s ensemble is wild and she even pokes fun at Betty’s tame outfit, not realizing that she is about to strip off almost every layer to perform the Serpent dance.  Jughead is not pleased with this, begging her to stay away from him, as the mistakes he made with his father are now bleeding into his relationship with Betty.  Although the dance doesn’t have the impact Betty was hoping for, it does allow her to free her inhibitions and step out of her cookie-cutter mold of perfection.  Archie sees a new side of her when he gazes out the window and he’s not alone.  We salute you Betty!

4

Betty finds her brother. (Moment from Season 2, episode 10)

Betty is surprised to find Polly in her bedroom, picking up a few things and nonchalantly sharing the news that she had the twins already.  When Polly goes back to the farm without even staying to say hello to their parents, Betty is feeling hurt and abandoned by her sister, causing her to put her Nancy Drew skills to the test once more.  Betty is not good at sitting still, always diving into a new mystery to solve, refusing to take a minute to actually deal with her feelings.  She tracks down the address of her brother, Charles Smith and lets her parents know that she wants to go and meet him.  While Betty’s father wants no part of this, Alice visits Betty later that night and confides to her that she does want to meet her son.  When they walk through the seedy motel to find him, Mrs. Cooper latches onto Betty’s arm, as if the infestation and filth will seep through their bubble of perfection.  After meeting Charles or “Chic” as he likes to be called, Betty and Mrs. Cooper are horrified by his lifestyle and surroundings, feeling somewhat responsible for his current conditions.  After Betty returns to check in on Chic, she finds him being attacked and stabbed.  Betty saves the day with Pepper Spray, proving once again that she is not one to mess with.  After taking Chic home, the Cooper family helps stitch him up and gives him a place to stay, not realizing that they just “let another monster in.”

 3

Betty embraces the darkness.  (Moment from Season 2, episode 12)

In the beginning of this episode, Betty is sporting her femme fatale black wig, turning away from the computer with newfound passion and excitement.  While her deception of “webcamming” may initially seem harmless, Betty is not ready to abandon it just yet.  She begins keeping secrets from those she loves without even the slightest hesitation to suggest that she has no guilt or second thoughts about her actions.  While Chic opened the door to the darkness, inviting Betty in, she is making her own decisions.  Later in the episode, Betty and Jughead reunite and share a passionate kiss as Jughead tells her that “he wants all of her,” but what will he do when he finds out that he needs to share Betty with the rest of the cyber world?

2

“That’s your very own angel of death.” (Moment from season 2, episode 19)

After finding out that Chic is not really her brother, Betty has a sea of emotions taking over.  With almost perfect timing, the “Lollipop” ringtone begins playing, luring her back to the darkness.  She answers and the Black Hood greets her by saying, “Hello Betty.  You miss me?”  The Black Hood asks for Betty to deliver Chic to him so that he can get what he deserves, explaining that he has murdered before.  At this point, we are not sure if Betty will follow the Black Hood’s orders.  He isn’t threatening her right now, but merely requesting this, so she has every opportunity to keep her moral compass intact.  Betty pulls a gun on Chic and takes him to the cemetery, demanding that he confess.  Chic tells her that he did kill the real Charles after they got in a fight but that he didn’t mean to kill him.  His tears suggest that he is finally telling the truth, but it’s too late.  Betty tells him she will begin counting and give him a head start when the Black Hood shows up at the edge of the cemetery.  Chic begins frantically questioning her, asking her what is going on, but Betty remains unwavering.  Chic finally takes her advice and rushes off, as she nods to the Black Hood.  While we are unsure if Chic was able to make it out alive or not, it doesn’t seem like we will be seeing him again anytime soon.  And as for our sweet and lovable Betty Cooper…well she is playing a dangerous game that makes her role play days seem like a distant dream.

1

“I’m not like you.” (Moment from season 2, episode 22)

While all of the drama with Mr. Lodge is taking center stage in the season finale, Betty and her mother are trying to put the pieces together again after Hal is taken off to jail, who has been confirmed as the real Black Hood.  Betty blames herself for what happened, however; and feels like she should have been a better detective and seen what was right in front of her.  While everyone around her reminds her that this is not her fault, Betty is still having doubts.  She wonders if evil can be passed on and Jughead tells her that she is a good person.  Now it’s up to Betty to believe this.  But can she deny the darkness whirling around within her?  After initially deciding not to visit her father, Betty decides to go see him anyway.  Her strength is admirable and one can’t help but cheer for her in this moment.  After telling her father that she is not like him, he asks her why she is really there.  Betty’s response gave me chills, as she tells him, “To say goodbye Dad.  No more darkness.  No more evil.  It’s over.  You have no power over me.”  In this moment, I was literally standing up and cheering for our girl, Betty Cooper.  While her father seems convinced that she will return, this moment allows her to truly move on and embrace the goodness within her.  I couldn’t be more proud.  All hail Queen Betty!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post some of your own favorite moments featuring Betty Cooper from Riverdale below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The 100” season 5 episode 6: “There is only Wonkru and There is No Place in it for You”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s The 100 season 5 episode 6 last night, I’ve learned that the “girl under the floor” is hiding no longer and is proving to be dangerous and ruthless now that she is out in the open.  While Octavia may refuse to compromise her role as “Blodreina,” she does recognize the many threats around her and decides to keep the greatest threat of all by her side.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Exit Wounds,” Diyoza attempts to recruit members of Wonkru with Kane’s help, Clarke tries to convince Madi to leave before she is exposed as the true Nightblood, and Bellamy is having trouble recognizing his sister.  Meanwhile, Murphy and Emori finally get the chance to rehash their breakup, while Echo gets a second chance to do the right thing.  My top 5 moments from The 100 season 5 episode 6 are:

5

“That is not my sister.”

In the beginning of the episode, Octavia is beyond furious that Bellamy has brought the traitor, Echo back with him.  Octavia doesn’t care in the slightest bit that she is with Bellamy and coldly reminds her that “there is only Wonkru and there is no place in it for you.”  Bellamy finally begins to realize that “Blodreina” is not his sister anymore and that she has changed more than anyone could have thought possible in six years.  Bellamy continues to challenge her, however; and suggests that “maybe you should fight someone who’s not afraid of you.”  Bellamy shows off some of his own newly acquired fighting skills, proving that a real fight between the Blake siblings may be evenly matched after all.  While Bellamy has clearly not given up on his sister just yet, he refuses to give in to all of her commands and tries to get her to see reason, but it doesn’t look like he is getting through to her just yet.  It makes me wonder what would happen if Bellamy is called out as a traitor and placed into the ring to fight for his life.  Would Octavia really let her brother die in the name of Wonkru?  While we haven’t escalated to a situation like that just yet, Octavia is clearly making her own decisions without Bellamy’s input.

4

“This doesn’t mean we’re back together.”

Muprhy and Emori get some much needed screen time in this episode, as they are hiding in the caves of Shadow Valley from McCreary.  Murphy still has the electric collar around his neck and Emori tries to come up with a way to get it off of him, while shocking him unintentionally along the way.  These two finally get the chance to talk about their feelings and what happened in their relationship.  Emori explains that Raven helped her feel important and needed and that Murphy refused to be happy for her, almost expecting her to stay on the sidelines with him.  She explained that his actions broke her heart and this seems to really resonate with him.  After setting a clever trap for McCreary and his men, Murphy and Emori share a brief moment of passion before McCreary comes stumbling out of the caves.  Emori is excited that they have a hostage, but I’m not sure this is the safest plan.  McCreary is definitely playing the role of the dangerous psychopath perfectly, but I’m not sure how much Diyoza truly values him, especially when he continues to openly defy her.  We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.

3

“We’re the only thing that can defeat us.”

Diyoza proves once again in this episode that she is a very capable and intelligent leader.  She uses Kane’s Intel to her advantage and has food shipped to Wonkru with an invitation for any of them to join her in Shadow Valley if they abandon Wonkru.  She promises that they will not be harmed if they decide to leave and come to Shadow Valley.  McCreary thinks that Diyoza should have just used two missiles to make her point, but Diyoza explains that there are farmers and engineers in Wonkru who can be extremely useful.  Diyoza is always looking at the big picture and understands that survival can be limited if she doesn’t plan accordingly.  While her people may not be as loyal as Wonkru, she has demonstrated that she is able to look at every situation from all angles and perspectives, which is something that Octavia still needs to learn herself.  Diyoza understands that even if she doesn’t get many followers from Wonkru joining her, this plan will weaken Octavia’s leadership, as the “defectors” show their true intentions, making survival their number one goal.

2

“Whatever happens, I know we’ll find each other again.”

This is the first episode in season 5 where we really get to see Echo shine.  While there is a steady romance between her and Bellamy, Echo proves that she is fully capable of earning a second chance and making the right decision.  Octavia asks Echo to spy for her and to turn in the “defectors,” but Echo has a change of heart.  After speaking to some of the “defectors,” she learns more about what they have gone through here and she doesn’t want anything to happen to them.  Bellamy strategically suggests that they all defect and explains to Octavia that Echo can plant the flash drive that Monty needs on the ship, which will further their plan.  Echo explains that it will be easy to convince Diyoza of this cover story, especially since Octavia announced she was casting Echo out.  When Echo is running with the other defectors to the ship, Octavia gives the order for the other traitors to be shot.  Bellamy cannot believe that she would do something like this, but Octavia refuses to apologize for her actions.  Echo buries the flash drive in a bullet wound, but is in for a surprise when she and the other defectors are greeted by Diyoza and some electric collars of their own.  This may make it extremely difficult for Echo to carry out the plan, but what’s important is that Echo has grown as a character here.  She understands the importance of survival just like everyone else, but is loyal to Bellamy and is ready to do what is necessary to help.  Perhaps Becho is not such a horrible romance after all, but I have to say I am still rooting for Bellarke all the way.

“I know what it’s like to be the girl under the floor.”

Clarke is completely distracted during this episode, as she recognizes the danger that Madi is in here.  When Octavia and others ask how Madi survived, Clarke comes up with a cover story that she injected some of her own bone marrow into her to make synthetic Nightblood.  While this story may hold up for a little while, Gaia recognizes Madi as the true Nightblood and tells Clarke that it is still her destiny to protect her.  Nyla also finds out the truth and Gaia tries to explain to Clarke that Nyla is not her friend and will put Wonkru above her every time.  Clarke’s motherly instincts take over, as her only priority is to get Madi out of there safely.  She briefly tells Bellamy that they need to find her before it’s too late, but it’s clear that there is a lot that Bellamy and her need to discuss.  After all, six years is a long time.  Madi’s naivete convinces her that she can trust Octavia, especially after hearing all of Clarke’s stories about her.  She goes directly to Octavia and tells her everything.  When Clarke interrupts, Octavia is initiating Madi into Wonkru.  Octavia tells Clarke that Madi will be under her protection and that she will keep her secret safe.  But can we trust Octavia?  Even though Madi has no interest in being named the true Commander, Octavia is smart enough to understand that her people will turn on her if they find this out, so keeping Madi as close as possible is a good plan.  However, this makes Clarke’s job that much more difficult now.  While Madi sees everything through the eyes of an innocent child, Clarke has experienced enough to know a dangerous threat when she sees one.
