Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 11 episode 9: “Survivors”

Happy Monday TV fans! After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 11 episode 9, we were reminded about the importance of having a true “home.” Not defined by the location or the walls, but by the people we love the most.

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not watched the latest episode yet.

In season 11, episode 9, “Survivors,” Ian and Mickey attempt to honor Terry’s last wish as they track down a woman from his past. Meanwhile, Liam worries about where he will live, Frank plans out the perfect heist, and Kev is left in charge of the girls.

My top 5 moments from Shameless season 11 episode 9 are:

5

“So this is the job?”

After Carl’s crash last week, he is now moving to the eviction team. He basically is there to provide support/back-up and watch people get evicted and he even has one of his former training officers back…Tipping. Tipping seems excited to be back, but is using way too many metaphors to promote his new philosophy.

Shameless season 11 episode 9 Carl

I have a feeling we may get to witness Carl work with every department on the force at this rate…

4

“It’s time for me to step up and be a father.”

“Now?” Frank decides to pull off the perfect heist he planned years ago at the Art Institute and attempts to put back together his old crew, but this proves to be more challenging than he realized when he learns that one is in a wheelchair, one is rich, and the other is dead.

Shameless season 11 episode 9 Franks heist

Frank’s memory continues to waver in and out, but it looks like he somehow pulled off the job. Does this mean that he is actually going to buy the Gallagher house?

I’d love to see that extra footage…

3

“You left Jemma and Amy with Kevin?”

I mean, he is there father as V points out, but V is busy helping her mom move to Kentucky. V is less than impressed with the new change of scenery, but it might be nice for the girls.

Shameless season 11 episode 9 Kev

Images courtesy of Showtime

Speaking of the girls, Kev has his hands full when he is in charge of watching them at the bar. The girls don’t listen to him and end up getting into the edibles and then running off. Kev is certainly trying his best, but these girls are running circles around him…

Let’s hope they are OK.

2

“We should at least try and find the bitch.”

Mickey is dealing with some mixed emotions after his father’s death. He finds a box marked “Rachel” with some old photos and an address. Ian and Mickey decide to track down Rachel and learn that she was Terry’s first love.

Shameless season 11 episode 9 Gallavich

The more they talk to Rachel, the more they begin to realize where Terry’s hate came from, as we learn that Rachel is Jewish and Terry was not allowed to marry her and she is now married to a black man.

Later on, Mickey decides to honor Terry’s wish to have him cremated, but they forgot to claim the body at the morgue and he’s off to a shared grave. Luckily, Ian and Mickey decide to light his remains up on fire anyway while giving us a delightful rendition of “I Will Survive.”

Seriously, these Gallavich moments have been absolutely amazing this season. They should do a spin-off! It looks like Mickey can move on, but it was nice to see a softer side of him.

1

“Are we selling or not?”

During the episode, Debbie continues to clash with Lip over selling the house and Liam is extremely worried that he is going to end up homeless. At the end of the episode, we witness two heartwarming moments.

Debbie reveals to Lip that she doesn’t want Franny to be alone and worries about her growing up without her family around. Lip promises that they will still have weekly dinners together, which was a nice gesture. I’d love to see that continue because the Gallagher family has to stay together in some capacity.

Meanwhile, Lip finally goes to talk to Liam about everything and tells him that he can live with him and Tami, which was a really touching moment. Liam always gets forgotten so this was really nice to see.

Although now that Frank stole that painting, I’m wondering what’s truly in store for the infamous Gallagher home…

Stay tuned Gallagher fans!

I hope you enjoyed the recap and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Shameless in the comments section below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” Season 10 Episode 11: “Morning Star”

Happy Monday TV fans! After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 10 episode 11, The Whisperers reminded us that they are the end of the world, but our group has been training for this very moment…and it’s finally here. “This is gonna be the fight of our lives.”

Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Morning Star,” Alpha decides to declare war on Hilltop, as our group prepares for battle. Meanwhile, Eugene secures a date, Carol and Ezekiel catch up, and Judith presents Daryl with the perfect gift.

My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 10 episode 11 are:

5

“My mother’s coming…”

Not exactly the words you want to hear when Lydia’s mom is coming to visit. Lydia knows what her mother is capable of and she tries to warn the group, but there is initially some disagreement on how to proceed. Some of the Hilltop members want to stay and fight, but others think that they should leave to protect the children.

TWD AMC 5
Images courtesy of AMC

Well, it looks like our group doesn’t have much of a choice since Alpha decides to block all the roads. Hilltop is on their own, but that doesn’t mean that we should count them out just yet.

4

“Loser with a forlorn heart.”

Eugene gets some screen time in this episode as he continues to talk to his mystery woman over the radio…Stephanie. It’s clear that Eugene has some pretty intense feelings, but things get complicated when Rosita walks in and hears her on the radio.

Eugene is more than upset because he feels that he broke his promise to Stephanie, but this leads to a nice chat between him and Rosita. After turning down a kiss from our girl, he realizes that perhaps he really cares for Stephanie even though he has never met her.

Luckily, Stephanie comes back on the line and agrees to meet up with Eugene for their very first date. Eugene tells her about Rosita and refers to her as his “proverbial bff,” which was adorable.

Let’s hope that Eugene makes it out of the battle alive because I have a lot of questions about who Stephanie is and what her intentions are. I am aware that she is a character in the comics, but I’m trying to leave her mysterious story open for now.

3

“Never bullshit a bullshitter.”

Fair point, Carol! Everyone begins to have these important and dramatic conversations during this episode, unsure if they will make it out of the war alive. Carol discovers that Ezekiel has cancer and these two finally have a talk…followed by some extracurricular activities.

While this seems like more of an actual goodbye to give them both closure, it’s clear that they will always care for one another.

I was actually really moved by the later conversation between Carol and Lydia. Lydia sits down next to the heart she carved into the wall with Henry, holding on to her own grief and regret as well (Loved that Ezekiel gave her something of Henry’s to wear for the battle).

Carol confides in her and tells her that she had a life, which was really important and moving. Carol has shut down for so long and it looks like she is finally taking the first step toward recognizing her pain and deciding how to deal with it.

As if we didn’t get enough touching Carol moments, Daryl also tells her that he could never hate her, which brought tears to my eyes.

We’re rooting for you Carol!

2

“You know who you’re fighting for.”

The most heartwarming part of the episode was when Judith presented Daryl with his new angel wing. Judith wants to stay and fight, but Daryl reminds her that she needs to protect her brother and go with Ezekiel, even if she can’t find him.

Daryl is Judith’s family and I thought this moment was so important. We know that Daryl doesn’t always show his emotions, but it’s clear just how much he cares about Judith and he will die for her.

TWD AMC 1
Images courtesy of AMC

The angel wing look perfect on Daryl as he wears it with pride during the battle. Talk about an immortal…

1

“Formation!”

This is the moment we have been waiting for! Hilltop has been training and now they are about to put their skills to the test as they line up to protect their home and fight Alpha’s horde. The last few minutes of the episode were beyond intense as we witness the beginning of the war.

The Whisperers are more than prepared; however, as they begin to shower our group in gasoline, which was not expected. Hilltop is set on fire and our group is left standing out in the open.

We get several interesting interactions between Alpha and Negan (sans nudity, phew) and Negan suggests having the group surrender, which implies that he has something else up his sleeve. Negan seems surprised when Alpha notes that she will have them follow her as part of her horde, but what else does Negan have planned here?

TWD AMC 6
Images courtesy of AMC

We know how much Negan adores Judith and he also has a fondness for Lydia, so I can’t imagine him standing by and letting anything happen to them.

It seems like this may have been one hell of a long con, but I’m anxious to discover the results in next week’s episode.

Overall, this episode was an emotional roller coaster. We got several motivational speeches and glimmers of closure, but the final minutes of the episode had the majority of the action.

I personally cannot wait for next week’s episode and I’m anxious to see who wins the battle once and for all!

Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on TWD in the comments section below. Thank you so much for reading and happy viewing!

Spoiler-Free Review of “Locke & Key” on Netflix: Unlocking the Door to your Next Binge-Watch

**This is a spoiler-free review so feel free to read on!**

A dark, magical adventure filled with heart, leading us past our imagination with some worthy evil threats thrown into the mix.

Locke & Key premiered on Netflix on February 7th 2020 with 10 new episodes (40-45 minutes in length). It stars Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Jackson Robert Scott, Darby Stanchfield, and Laysla De Oliveira.

The show is based on the graphic novel series written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodríguez. After the tragic death of their father, three siblings move into his old mansion with their mother, unlocking past secrets and discovering some magical keys that light the way to their new potential destiny. However, there is an evil lingering inside the well of Keyhouse that threatens them all.

This is not the first time we have seen a plot like this and there are a lot of similarities to The Chronicles of Narnia, The Haunting of Hill House, and Stranger Things. That being said, I absolutely love all three of those, so I welcomed this familiar plot with open arms.

However, does Locke & Key unlock its way to its own identity? Let’s find out…

The Pros:

Locke and Key Netflix 5
Images courtesy of Netflix

The Locke siblings are the heart of the show.

I loved the family aspect of The Haunting of Hill House and we get a young adult friendly version of that in Locke & Key. The relationship between the siblings is heartwarming and believable. All three of these characters are absolutely fantastic and you almost feel like you are a part of their family. The performances are well done and the family drama isn’t overly exaggerated.

The mystery is intriguing and entertaining.

From the very first episode, we get a sneak peek of what’s to come for the Locke family, as they explore Keyhouse with brand new eyes. The house is breathtaking, but the Locke siblings quickly discover that there are more secrets hidden within the walls of their father’s old home.

Evil looks good on our Villainess.

The villain in this series is beyond entertaining. She’s absolutely fantastic and will lure you over to the dark side for sure. She is cunning, powerful, and mysterious, as the Locke siblings are forced to really think outside the box to stop her, but do not underestimate her for one second. I love a good Villainess and Dodge  or “Well Lady” certainly exceeded my expectations.

The Cons:

Locke and Key Netflix 7
Images courtesy of Netflix

The rest of the characters fade into the background.

Unlike Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which has an endless amount of extraordinary characters, the rest of the group in Locke & Key are just kind of okay and very forgettable. Even Mrs. Locke seemed all over the place and I almost felt like they didn’t really know what to do with her character.

I did enjoy Scot the most out of the friend characters, who had the most adorable nickname for our girl Kinsey, Rocky Road, but the supporting characters seemed underdeveloped and uninspiring. That being said, the Locke siblings and Dodge certainly made up for that and stole the show.

Some plot holes and unanswered questions.

I wouldn’t say that this was a major con, but I found myself asking more questions about the keys and where they came from. A lot of things are explained in the end and we are left with a major cliffhanger, so I’m hoping for some more background information if we get a second season.

So am I in or out?

Locke and Key Netflix 1

I’m in! This series was so much fun and I watched it all in one day. It has a lot of heart and so many twists and turns that will keep you thoroughly invested throughout the show.

While it may not be the next Stranger Things, it doesn’t have to be. Locke & Key creates its own separate identity and has the potential to become my new favorite show with possible future seasons. Now about my key…

I hope you enjoyed the review and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Locke & Key in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “SMILF” season 2 episode 1 season premiere: “You are a Disaster”

Greetings TV viewers!  After watching Showtime’s SMILF season 2  episode 1 season premiere last night, I was reminded exactly why I adore Bridgette Bird, played by the brilliant Frankie Shaw.  She’s far from perfect and she doesn’t always say the right thing, but you still root for her all the same and laugh and cry along with her.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “S…Man, I’ve Literally Failed,” Bridgette tries to track down her father.  Meanwhile, Bridgette meets a new friend at the airport and says goodbye to someone very dear to her heart.   My top 5 moments from the SMILF season 2 episode 1 season premiere are:

5

“You are a disaster.”

It seems slightly offending when someone you just met makes this assessment, but then again, the stranger is really referring to Bridgette’s back, as she offers to give her a massage after explaining that her father has moved back to Boston.  Bridgette is beyond upset, as she just traveled all the way to Philadelphia from Boston, but at least she gets a little TLC while she is there.

4

“That’s your shadow self.”

In the beginning of the episode, Bridgette has a dream that she is riding a dark horse and she has flowing hair and a carefree spirit, almost like she is right out of a fairy-tale.  While I’m not really sure what the dream means, the stranger Bridgette meets in Philadelphia explains that it’s her shadow self and that great stress is coming Bridgette’s way.  Is Bridgette truly ready to face it, however?

3

“Girl to girl…”

After getting off the plane, Bridgette makes the mistake of leaving her wallet on board.  She desperately tries to run back inside, but she cannot go through because of security measures.  Bridgette tries to reason with the female security guard “girl to girl,” but is politely declined.  After explaining that she has the right to shoot Bridgette if she tries to run through, Bridgette comments, “That is so extreme.”  While Bridgette doesn’t have any luck finding her wallet, she does squeeze in some cardio by running back up the escalator.

2

“Maybe I would…but I can’t.”

When Bridgette is waiting at the airport, she meets a father with his young daughter.  The father is clearly frustrated with his daughter, but Bridgette can’t help intervening as a “roaming child therapist” and she explains that he should communicate better.  Even though Bridgette gets over involved here, that’s what makes her Bridgette Bird.  She is not afraid to make an impact, even if she doesn’t always go about it the right way.  Later on, Bridgette bonds with the father and daughter and he gives her some good advice about her own father, reminding her that if she has to look for him, maybe he isn’t really worth it.

1

“You kept me alive all these years.”

At the end of the episode, Joe passes away with Larry in the house and Tutu and Bridgette are left to pick up the pieces and deal with their grief.  Bridgette also learns that her own father has passed away and she saves the obituary that read:  survived by one daughter.  Bridgette initially did not want to speak at Joe’s funeral, but has a change of heart and finally allows her emotions to emerge.  Bridgette recognizes that Tutu was the one who was truly there for both her and Joe and she takes a moment to express her gratitude here, which is real and heartwarming.  I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this show in the first season and the second season has already started off strong.  I’m looking forward to more adventures with Bridgette Bird and I’m sure you are too.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and comments on SMILF below. Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. Ranking the top 5 moments from “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” season 1 episode 11: “A Midwinter’s Tale”

Happy Saturday TV fans!  After watching Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 1 episode 11, we were reminded that ‘Tis the Season for seances during the witching hour.  While we all have our own traditions during the holidays, the Spellman family wished us a “Happy Solstice” and asked that “Satan bless us everyone.”  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In episode 11, “Chapter Eleven:  A Midwinter’s Tale,” the Spellman family prepares for the “Winter Solstice,” but Sabrina has a few magical ideas of her own.  Meanwhile, Susie gets in a bit of trouble during her holiday job and Aunt Zelda is preoccupied with baby Leticia.  My top 5 moments from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 1 episode 11 holiday special are:

5

“Christmas is the best time for ghost stories.”

In the beginning of the episode, we learn a bit about some of the Spellman family traditions during the holidays, which center around burning a “Yule Log,” which is meant to ward off evil spirits during the solstice.  It is very important that the “Yule Log” fire does not go out or the Spellman family will be vulnerable to many magical threats.  Sabrina recognizes that things are very different this year, but she can’t help missing her parents during this time, as she looks at a photo ornament of them that is very dear to her heart.  Sabrina remembers that she crossed paths with her mother in limbo and is desperate to find a way to help her, but perhaps this isn’t the best night to do so.

4

“Too soon or too weird?”

Sabrina is determined to contact her mother with a seance, recognizing that the veil thins between the living and the dead during the solstice.  After Ambrose turns down her request, Sabrina goes to see Miss Wardwell, who initially seems willing to help Sabrina, but recognizes that she will need to run some interference to prevent Sabrina from going down the wrong path.  Sabrina tries to include her mortal friends, but they are not really too excited about participating in the seance.  Sabrina does not take “no” for an answer; however, as she recruits Prudence and her sisters to assist with the ritual.  It seems like everything is working perfectly when the spirit of Diana Spellman appears before them, but other magical beings begin to break through the veil as well, which threatens everyone in the Spellman home.

3

“Is this what it’s like being a witch?”

During all the commotion at the Spellman residence, we also learn that Susie has gone missing when her Santa Claus boss, Mr. Bartel, tries to turn her into a wax figure for his creepy collection.  We learn that Bartel is actually a demon, but Sabrina and her aunts are ready to help save the day, as they enlist the help of Gryla, who is a demon that gathers the lost souls of children.  It looks like Susie will be OK and everything is back to normal for now, but I think she will be researching her next job opportunity with a little bit more care next time.

2

“Please don’t ever do that again.  Use magic.”

During the episode, we also get a Harvina moment, as Sabrina tries to make amends with Harvey by giving him an enchanted pencil set.  Harvey later gives the gift back to Sabrina and explains that he doesn’t want her to use magic anymore with him.  Sabrina clearly cares about Harvey a lot, but she also recognizes that he may not be ready or willing to walk down the path of night with her.  I’m still hoping that these two can work things out; however, because they are absolutely adorable together.

1

“Mom…you’re beautiful.”

In a heartwarming moment, Sabrina gets a very brief moment with her mother and confides in her about Harvey and some of her doubts and fears.  Her mom helps her quite a bit, even though she cannot stay for very long, but it looks like Sabrina will cherish this brief encounter forever.  Sabrina’s mother was mortal and understands all too well what it means to walk down the path of night, but Sabrina may need to experience this for herself, as her path may be different.  At the end of the episode, Zelda decides to bring baby Leticia to Desmelda to keep her safe, which leaves us with some more unanswered questions.  Is Desmelda a friend or foe?  What will Miss Wardwell do next?  Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday special.  I appreciated that the show took the time to celebrate with our favorite characters, while continuing the plot as well to get us ready for new episodes on April 5th 2019.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 7: “It’s Time Together that Matters”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 7, I realized that it’s not the big moments that count the most.  It’s the memories we have and the “time together that matters,” as Jack so eloquently pointed out.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Unhuman Behavior,” Jack’s health takes a turn for the worse, as Sam, Dean, and Castiel desperately try to figure out a way to save him.  Meanwhile, Nick continues to head down a path of darkness, revealing his inner true nature.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 7 are:

5

“He was stabbed through the heart and exploded.”

Even though this episode was an emotional roller coaster for me, Castiel provided us with a laugh out loud moment to break the tension.  After Castiel determines that he cannot help Jack, he takes him to the hospital and everyone is beyond stressed about the situation.  After Dean has trouble coming up with details about Jack’s birth date, the family medical history seems like it could be handled, especially since we know that Jack’s biological father, Lucifer, is dead.  However, Castiel bluntly tells the woman at the hospital exactly how Lucifer died, which leads to some strange looks from her and Sam and Dean.

4

“His body is shutting down.”

After Jack’s hospital tests come back negative, this seems like a good sign, but the doctor explains that Jack’s body is actually shutting down and they can’t figure out why.  It is later determined that Jack needs archangel grace to survive, but it’s not like this is easy to find anymore.  Against the doctor’s recommendation, Sam and Dean take Jack out of the hospital and refuse to give up.  They are ready to use all of their resources to help him.  While they begin discussing what Jack needs, Dean repeatedly zones out during the conversation.  Does this mean that Michael is somehow still linked to Dean?  Could this be the key to helping Jack?  We’ll have to wait to find out, but there is definitely something not quite right with Dean.

3

“Is this a trick Samuel?”

Our favorite witch is back!  After realizing that they cannot help Jack, Sam calls up Rowena.  Rowena initially thinks she is there to help Dean, but quickly learns that Sam wants her to help Jack.  Rowena is not exactly thrilled about this at first since she does not have the best history with Lucifer, but Jack approaches Rowena and explains, “I’m trying hard not to be like him.”  He tells Rowena that Sam and Dean say such nice things about her as well, revealing his innocent charm.  Rowena agrees to try and help Jack, but quickly realizes that she is in over her head.

2

“I like doing these things and I don’t want to stop.”

We finally catch up to Nick in this episode and learn that he is continuing to spiral out of control.  Nick is obsessed with finding out what happened to his family, but his journey is leading him down a very dark path.  Nick seems overwhelmed by all of these feelings, but the darkness continues to win, as he brutally murders anyone he determines to be guilty.  The ex-cop reveals to Nick something about the name, Abraxas, which seems familiar to his Lucifer memories, but we don’t have too much to go on here just yet.  Later on, Nick begins to pray and reveals that he actually likes tapping into the darkness and begs Lucifer to return to him.  Nick has clearly stirred something up inside of him, but is it enough for Lucifer to re-surface?  I’m thinking that it’s only a matter of time before he makes himself known.

“It’s time together that matters.”

Jack has accepted his fate, even though his “Dads” refuse to give up.  Jack just wants to have a chance to really experience life and Dean agrees to accompany him.  Dean teaches Jack to drive and hilariously reminds him that, “R is not for race.”  Jack really tries to be like Dean here, which is absolutely adorable and even screams out, “It’s like I’m you!”  This is definitely a heartwarming father-son moment and it looks like Dean needed this just as much as Jack did.  Later on, Jack expresses a desire to go fishing with Dean and tells him that he remembers that it is one of Dean’s fondest memories with his own father.  Jack opens up to Dean here and really gives us all an important lesson about life when he explains that it’s about the time together that truly matters.  After the Serbian Shaman’s “experiment” fails, Jack is in even worse condition and Sam, Dean, and Castiel are completely helpless.  They stay by Jack’s side to support him, but is there any other way to save him?  Let’s hope so because I can’t bear to see Jack go.  He has made such an impact on everyone and they truly think of him as a son.  Stay tuned!

She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.

Ranking my top 5 Thanksgiving TV Episodes: “It’s a Ritual Sacrifice with Pie”

Greetings TV Fans!  Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it’s important to take a moment to think about what we are truly thankful for.  It’s a time to share with family and friends and to put that pesky diet aside to make room for some pumpkin pie.

For today, I am going to be ranking my absolute favorite Thanksgiving television episodes.  While there is a lot more material out there for Halloween and Christmas episodes, one should not discount some quality Thanksgiving programming.

So grab some more food and make room for some Thanksgiving TV fun!  Please note that some spoilers are ahead.

My top 5 Thanksgiving TV episodes are:

5

“Modern Family” Three Turkeys (TV Episode 2014)

Three turkeys collage

Modern Family does a fantastic job with holiday episodes.  While the Valentine’s Day and Halloween ones take the cake for me, “Three Turkeys” is absolutely hilarious.  During the episode, Phil and Luke work on the turkey together, but Claire worries that Phil may mess it up and has a back-up one ready to go.

Meanwhile, Jay and Gloria are supposed to go away, but end up staying; only they want to just have a nice and quiet Thanksgiving at home.  This doesn’t go exactly according to plan when Phil shows up to use their oven and the chaos continues, as the turkeys continue to multiply.  This is a great episode to watch with family and friends!

4

“Beverly Hills, 90210” The Kindness of Strangers (TV Episode 1992)

Beverly hills thanksgiving collage

While Thanksgiving is a time for family to come together, it is also a time to give as well.  Brandon crosses paths with a homeless man named Jack, who he previously tried to help over the summer.  Brandon could have just gone on his way, but he decides to bring him home for Thanksgiving dinner.

While Brandon’s father is not at all pleased initially, Jack proves to be worthy and is extremely grateful to be given a chance to spend this holiday with a warm meal and wonderful people.  Brandon always tries to do the right thing, but he really shines here.  This episode is heartwarming and really captures the essence of giving.

3

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Pangs (TV Episode 1999)

Buffy thanksgiving collage

So what do you do when you encounter the spirit of a Native American warrior who is looking to take his revenge out just before Thanksgiving dinner?  Well I guess you give Buffy Summers a call.  This episode is jam-packed with action and comedy.  Angel makes a special guest appearance, only he doesn’t inform Buffy that he is there to protect her from a great evil.

What makes this episode stand out is that Buffy is really trying to make her Thanksgiving dinner a success.  While the Scoobies try to figure out a way to stop the spirit of the warrior, Buffy insists on keeping her dinner going no matter what because you know, “It’s a Yam Sham.”

Spike even gets a seat at the table, only he is tied to a chair, which makes this episode even funnier.  If you need a break from the stress of preparing dinner, this is the episode to watch.

2

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” The Gang Squashes Their Beefs (TV Episode 2013)

Sunny thanksgiving collage

After running into the McPoyle brothers at the video store, the gang begins to realize that they need to bury the hatchet and wipe the slate clean with a lot of people…literally.  The gang invites over everyone they have wronged for Thanksgiving dinner and Dennis tries to sort of apologize, but really wants them to sign a treaty so that they no longer feel guilty.  Dennis does love his documentation.

This episode is absolutely hilarious and leads to a food fight that you may have only dreamed about at one of your own Thanksgiving dinners.  After Mac’s room is set on fire, the gang does the only right thing in this situation…they lock their guests inside the apartment and make a run for it.  This episode is laugh out loud funny and is definitely worth a second watch.

1

“South Park” Helen Keller!  The Musical (TV Episode 2000)

Gobbles collage

It should be no surprise that my favorite Thanksgiving TV episode is from South Park.  This episode is beyond hilarious and I have probably watched it every single Thanksgiving.  During the episode, the kids are putting on an interesting musical for Thanksgiving, but Timmy and his untalented turkey named Gobbles steal the show.

It may sound ridiculous, but you will end up rooting for this poor turkey and cheering for him when he finally goes through the hoop of fire.  “Gobbles!”  Now that’s an impressive finale!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to share some of your own thoughts and comments on your favorite Thanksgiving TV episodes.

**I just want to take a minute to thank each and every one of you for being so wonderful and supportive.  I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones!  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 couples from “Once Upon a Time”

“I’m a fan of every part of you” (Hook to Emma).  Happy Saturday TV fans!  I invested quite a bit of time over the years into watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time and one of the main reasons why I love the show so much is because I fell in love with the characters and found myself constantly rooting for different ships to make it against all odds.

OUAT does an excellent job of providing us with nostalgia from some of our favorite fairy-tales, but the writers were never afraid to shake things up and present us with a ship that we may have never predicted or some that initially seemed unconventional.  However, once we detected the undeniable sparks between some of these characters, it was quite easy to imagine their stories intertwining.

Villains got their first glimpse at what true love looked like and learned that it was never too late to change and that it was possible to still achieve a happy ending.  While some ships supported each other no matter what, others had to face many trials and obstacles, testing their love for one another constantly.

Some of our favorite ships have been ripped apart brutally and while some were lucky enough to experience their happy ending together, others were not able to do so, but their love still remained unchanging, teaching them to hold on to the goodness still within them and to open their hearts to everyone around them.  An OTP or one true pairing is difficult to find, but these characters below certainly achieved this title, making us believe that true love is possible but it is far from easy to hold on to.

These characters learned never to take their love for granted and would do anything for the other.  Their love for one another helped shaped them into who they were meant to be, inspiring hope throughout their epic stories.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the series yet.  My top five ships from Once Upon a Time are:

5

Rumple & Belle

Ship name:  Rumbelle

Rumbelle 6 16 1

“But that monster is gone. And the man beneath him may be flawed… but we all are. And I love you for it. Sometimes the best book has the dustiest jacket. And sometimes the best teacup is chipped.”

When I first learned that Rumple was also the “beast” in Belle’s story, I was not sure how I felt about this.  Rumple had already been presented as a major villain and it made sense that he would also fit right in as a “beast” or a “monster” in another story or realm, but I wasn’t sure if Rumple would truly be able to shed his wicked ways and learn to love Belle.  However, I changed my mind when I saw Belle looking at Rumple with pure love and acceptance.

When they danced together, it was like the story of “Beauty and the Beast” opened up a new chapter filled with a chance at redemption.  Rumple was one of the most devious villains on the show and somehow Belle was able to get through to him and show him that there was a different path that he could take; a path that led to love and a family, even if they had a rocky journey ahead of them.

Belle always saw the good in Rumple but was hurt many times by him as well when he allowed the darkness to consume him, putting his agenda above his love for Belle without always realizing it.  In season 7, Rumple was desperately trying to rid himself of the Dark One’s dagger and get back to Belle so that they could be together, but ultimately realized that this might never happen and sacrificed himself to save his friends and family.

Rumple’s actions were truly selfless and he was greeted by Belle in limbo so that they could finally be together always and forever.

4

Snow & Charming

Ship name:  Snowing

Snowing 6 16 1

“True love isn’t easy, but it must be fought for because once you find it, it can never be replaced.”

This list would not be complete without including Snow White and Prince Charming.  When the series first began, there was a lot of focus on these two and it was adorable to see their “meet cute” when Snow got caught in the net by Charming.  Out of all of the ships on the series, Snow and Charming are the most stable and constant.  No matter what was thrown at them, they always found their way back to one another and they never gave up on each other.

Even when Charming didn’t remember Snow in Storybrooke, their love was able to seep through, ultimately reminding them that they did belong together.  Emma is the daughter of Snow and Charming and their unconditional love for her made them even stronger.  While their story was often presented as less complicated than some of the other ships on this list, their love was selfless, kind, and unwavering.

3

Regina & Robin

Ship name:  Outlaw Queen

Outlaw queen 6 16 1

“Our story was so short.  Doesn’t make it any less epic.”

Out of all of the ships on this list, I have to say that I was initially rooting for this couple above all others.  Regina started out as an evil queen with only coldness and revenge in her heart.  However, her feelings for Robin were beautiful and heartwarming.  They were never lacking passion and it seemed like Robin was the absolute perfect match for Regina.

It was predicted that Regina’s true love was a mysterious man with a lion tattoo and when this was revealed as Robin, it was impossible not to root for these two to end up together.  Robin was able to see that Regina had clearly changed and was ready to become a good person.  Robin sacrificed himself to protect Regina just shortly after they talked about their future together, which made this moment even more heartbreaking.  Even though Regina and Robin did not end up together, Robin was always with her in her heart.

In the series finale, Regina was dreaming and Robin visited her.  She told him how much she missed him and explained she may be joining him.  Regina clearly remembered being a villain and started to think that maybe this was what she deserved.  However, the goodness in her was articulated by Robin, who told her that she was able to move her dark actions to the light and that was all because of her.  He told her that “her life is proof that no one’s path is set.” Robin provided Regina with the strength she needed when it seemed like the world was against her.

When he revealed to her how epic their love was, this was one of the most beautiful moments on the show.  While it seemed beyond unfair that these two could not be together, we know that Robin would always be in Regina’s heart, reminding her that her new path is one of goodness and love.

2

Alice & Robin

Ship name:  Mad Archer

Mad Archer 6 16 1

“I told you we’d always know each other.”

Alice and Robin, also known as Tilly and Margot, possessed a pure and beautiful love.  Fans could not help falling in love with these two, as they reminded us what true love is all about and fans are still talking about them now.  Fan fiction and requests for a Mad Archer spin-off are everywhere and I have to say that I absolutely agree.  There is just something about Alice and Robin that bring us right back to the first moment where we may have experienced love ourselves.

I’m talking about those over-the-top feelings of butterflies in your stomach and smiling constantly for no reason at all.  When Robin/Margot awkwardly asked Alice/Tilly out on a date and explained she was wearing lip gloss, it was impossible not to identify with these lovely ladies.  Their shyness and awkwardness made them even more lovable and it’s like we were along for their journey, as they tried to get to know one another and shared their dreams and secrets.  Both Alice and Robin had a strong sense of doing what’s right and supporting family and friends no matter what, which made their relationship that much more powerful.

As individual characters they were remarkable, but as a team they were truly something special.  When they finally remembered each other and shared a passionate kiss, it was like you could see the imaginary fireworks going off around them, as fans everywhere cheered.  While we know that they are engaged at the end of the series, their story is far from over and it would be amazing to see a wedding between these two.  After all, Nook should get the chance to walk “Starfish” down the aisle.

1

Hook & Emma

Ship name:  Captain Swan

Captain Swan 6 16 1

“When I win your heart Emma, and I will win it. It won’t be because of any trickery. It will be because you want me.”

My number one ship has to go to Hook and Emma.  When the devilishly handsome Captain Hook sailed into our hearts on OUAT, he initially was out for revenge.  While Hook innocently flirted with Emma from the start, his love for her allowed him to grow as a character and to learn from his wicked past.  Hook was always used to taking the easy way out and making decisions based on how well it suited him.

Emma changed this perspective, however; proving that he could be a selfless man.  When Hook realized his strong feelings for Emma, he even backed down and explained that she should be with Neal so that Henry could have his family all together.  Hook truly loved Emma at this point, but was willing to sacrifice this so that she could find happiness.

Later, when they did end up together, Emma consumed the power of the Dark One and evil corrupted her heart.  The only thing that could bring her back to goodness was Hook’s love for her and his willingness to sacrifice himself to save her.  Emma and Hook had one of the most beautiful relationships on television and their wedding at the end of season 6 was touching and heartwarming.  Hook’s love for Emma transformed him from a villain into a hero one can be proud of, who would never stop fighting for the one he loves.

In the series finale, we finally got to see Hook and Emma again along with their beautiful baby daughter, Hope.  The name of their child is absolutely perfect, symbolizing what kept them going strong all this time.  Emma and Hook never lost hope in each other and it’s wonderful to see that they are starting the next chapter of their lives together.  And so they lived happily ever after…

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to share some of your own thoughts and comments on your favorite ships on OUAT.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The 100” season 5 episode 3: “283 lives. She must be pretty important to you. She is.”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s The 100 season 5 episode 3 last night, I’ve learned that sometimes you need to make hard decisions to protect the ones you love.  Whether that means putting yourself in danger, lying to your friends, or threatening the lives of 283 people to save the one person you have thought about for the last five years, you do these things to put those you love above yourself.  Bellarke fans should be excited because I sure am.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Sleeping Giants,” Clarke and Madi make a run for it, but Clarke is captured by Diyoza and the prisoners from the ship.  Meanwhile, Bellamy and the others investigate the foreign ship and find an unexpected surprise, while Raven makes a courageous decision.  My top 5 moments from The 100 season 5 episode 3 are:

5

“Go to war with the army you have…not the army you want.”

The leader of the prisoners, Diyoza has proven to be strong, calculating, and somewhat reasonable.  While we ultimately learn that she is responsible for leading the mutiny on the prisoner ship, it should be no surprise how she became the leader.  She thinks clearly about her decisions, but is not afraid to use force to make her point.  While we still have a lot to learn about her and her people, she is not taking any chances when it comes to finding out all she can from the survivors here on earth.  Time will tell if we can truly trust her or not, however.

4

“Spare me the space lesson.”

Bellamy and the others decide to investigate the foreign ship, looking for fuel and a way to the ground.  They initially think that perhaps the ship contained prisoners and the ones left are descendants, making them survivors like them, but they are in for a surprise.  Raven quickly puts her technical skills to the test and they do have a real way down to the ground.  Bellamy realizes that they can hear their radios and is concerned about who they are chasing, fearing it could be Octavia or someone else they left behind in the bunker.  Bellamy says, “We gotta get down there now,” not wanting to abandon those still on the ground.

3

“If you let her go, I’ll tell you everything.”

While Clarke and Madi are on the run, Clarke is captured.  Initially she does not say anything, but gives herself away when she pays close attention to the radio.  When Diyoza orders for Madi to be killed on sight, she begs her not to hurt her and tells her that she will cooperate.  Diyoza needs Clarke to find out what happened to the world, as she understands it is necessary to collect as much information as she can to survive here on earth.  Diyoza suggests, “Let’s begin with how the world ended” and Clarke honestly replies with, “Which time?”  Clarke has always done what is necessary to lead and survive, but it is clear that her love for Madi makes her vulnerable.  One cannot blame her, however; as she has been alone for quite some time and Madi is all that she has left in the world.  Like a mother, she is willing to sacrifice everything to save her child.

2

“1 down.  299 to go.”

While on board the foreign ship, Bellamy and the others realize that they are not alone.  The prisoners left behind are in “Cryosleep” and they discover that they can be woken up remotely.  When Diyoza realizes that the alarm was triggered on the ship, one prisoner is woken up as a security measure.  It takes three of them to ultimately kill the prisoner and they discover a recording from the captain that reveals that the prisoners had taken over.  Bellamy and the others are faced with a difficult decision.  Do they take the lives of the prisoners on board or do they come up with a different strategy?  Murphy reminds them that “Clarke died so we can live and this is how we do it.”  Bellamy takes his time to make a decision, however; and works with Raven on a plan.  They can tell their new potential enemies to put down their weapons or they will pull the plug on the prisoners still asleep, which gives them leverage.  However, there is always the chance that the prisoners will not care about the lives of those in Cryosleep.  The other problem is that someone has to stay behind to trigger the remote on the ship.  Raven steps up to do the right thing, but Bellamy doesn’t want to leave her behind, still feeling the guilt from when he left Clarke behind.  Raven assures him that there is an escape pod waiting and Murphy decides to stay back as well.  Raven is shocked to see him and tells him that there is no escape pod, as she knew it was the only way to convince Bellamy to leave.  While we don’t know how Raven and Murphy will make it out of there if everything goes according to plan, Emori successfully lands on earth and everyone has a new threat to deal with.

1

“283 lives.  She must be pretty important to you.  She is.”

So the moment we have been waiting for is finally here!  When Bellamy and the others are surrounded by the prisoners, Madi saves them and immediately recognizes Bellamy.  In a heartwarming moment, she exclaims, “Bellamy!  Clarke knew you would come.”  Bellamy is shocked and relieved to hear that Clarke is alive, but needs to focus on the current threat.  Clarke is brought outside and Diyoza puts an electric collar on her that is barbaric and painful, revealing that she has a very dangerous side that you do not want to cross.  Clarke is shocked when Bellamy walks up and shows Diyoza the mug from the ship, proving that the lives of the sleeping prisoners are in his hands.  When Bellamy says how important Clarke is, Bellarke fans everywhere are cheering, including myself.  While this may not be a shared passionate embrace or kiss, these words remind us why we root for these two to ultimately be together.  Their bond is something transcendent.  They fight for each other even when they think they are gone and will do whatever it takes to save the other.  While we know that the threat is nowhere near over, the look in Clarke’s eyes when she sees Bellamy is one of pure hope and love.  Also, congratulations to The 100 for being renewed for season 6!  We will meet again!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The 100 in the comments section below.  Thanks for reading and happy viewing!
