Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” Season 4 Episode 3: Saved by the Bobby Pin!

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 4 episode 3, I realized that change is not necessarily a bad thing.  But what happens when new threats emerge because of this change?  Is it truly possible to earn a clean slate with so many buried secrets?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.

In last night’s episode, “Chapter Sixty:  Dog Day Afternoon,” Jughead adjusts to life at Stonewall Prep, but a new rival doesn’t make it easy for him.  Meanwhile, Edgar calls Betty, but she’s ready for the final showdown.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 4 episode 3 are:

5

“I’ll take those odds.”

In this episode, Archie decides that he wants to turn the gym into a community center where kids can go, especially after Munroe’s (Mad Dog) little brother gets caught up with a gang down at the arcade.  I feel like they could have picked a more threatening spot, but I’ll go with it for now.  Veronica is willing to lend Archie the money he needs, but Archie wants to do things his way.

We get an enthusiastic car wash from the boys, but it doesn’t earn enough money.  After Archie tries out being a vigilante, he ends up taking the money from the drug dealers down at the arcade, but it’s not like they can use that either.

Archie’s mother wants him to get out of Riverdale, but Veronica reminds her that she is willing to invest in her son, explaining that he can do so much good in town and I think she’s right.  The community center is open and it looks like Mrs. Andrews will be sticking around for a while after all.

4

“You will do as you’re told.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.”

Even though we get a brief intimate moment between Choni, Cheryl continues to have her chats with dead Jason, which just gets creepier and creepier.  After Nana Rose starts to have some trouble with reality as well, Toni decides to hire a night nurse, Darius.  Cheryl channels her best impression of Beauty and the Beast by telling him that he is forbidden from entering certain areas of the estate, desperate to keep Jason a secret.

Cheryl thinks that someone moved Jason and decides to fire Darius after she discovers that he was in the basement, claiming he heard rats.  It looks like Darius was on to something, as Cheryl finds one of the rats inside Jason’s stomach, which instantly made my skin crawl.

The cat, or the rat, is out of the bag, as Toni finally stumbles upon Jason.  Cheryl actually handles this surprisingly well, asking if Toni has ever met Jason before.

Will Toni be able to bring Cheryl back to reality?  Let’s hope so!

3

“Blood doesn’t wash out…”

Hiram somehow finds out that Veronica is thinking of changing her name and decides to pay her a visit.  He may be in jail, but he owns that jail, which apparently means he can come and go whenever he pleases?  I’ll leave that one alone, but Hiram decides to tell Veronica the story about how he created the Hiram Lodge name, explaining that his name used to be Luna.

Hiram tells Veronica that changing her name will not wash out her past sins, but Veronica decides to go through with it anyway.  Only she won’t be changing her name to Veronica Gomez, she will now be known as Veronica Luna, which clearly infuriates her father.

Will Veronica Luna be able to start fresh or will her Lodge past continue to get in her way?

2

“You need to buy us time!”

After Charles sends in an undercover agent to deliver pizza at the Farm, things go horribly wrong and Edgar decides to get on the phone.  Only he seems to be more interested in calling Betty directly with his list of demands.

Under Charles’s instruction, Betty asks Edgar to release some hostages and poor Polly shows up with a bomb.  Edgar has removed the pin on the dead man’s switch and the timer is counting down pretty quickly, but Betty’s bobby pin comes to the rescue, as she saves the day.  Go Betty!

Betty decides to get Edgar his list of demands since she knows people and shows up at his front door, ready to end this once and for all, but she is clearly outnumbered and is knocked unconscious before anything too major can happen.

1

“Edgar ascended…”

When Betty wakes up, she is held hostage with Alice in a motel room.  So good to see you Alice!  We get an impressive mother-daughter tag team, as these Cooper ladies show us what they are made of.  Betty works on trying to get the innocent Farmies on the bus, while her mother goes after Edgar.

Apparently Edgar wants to get on his recently built rocket, but Alice has other plans for him.  After a gunshot is heard, Betty panics, but Alice is able to eliminate Edgar once and for all.  At least I think so.  You never know on Riverdale!  It looks like this Farm cult story has wrapped itself up neatly, but I’m slightly confused on Edgar’s behavior in this episode.

Part of what made Edgar so intriguing was that he kept his cool and used manipulation to get what he wanted, but he almost seemed like a loose cannon in this episode.  I’m not sure if there are some holes in that plot or if the writers were just done with his story, but I was slightly disappointed with this outcome.

Either way, I’m glad to see that both Betty and Alice are all right.  So I guess it’s on to the next mystery, as Betty and Jughead get some kind of tape delivered to them at their doorstep.  Is this a warning or a threat?  I’m not sure, but we’ll have to see how this all links to Jughead’s future disappearance.  Stay tuned!

My performance of the week ending 5/18/19 on TV goes to…

Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale. I have been waiting for Cheryl to snap out of this cult obsessed trance for a while now and it finally happened, revealing the Cheryl “Bombshell” that we all know and adore.  Please note some spoilers are ahead.  In the season 3 finale, Cheryl finally realizes that everything is now up to her.  She needs to save her friends from the Farm while also trying to help Betty before it is too late and she does not disappoint.  Cheryl provides us with humor, sassy attitude, and her trusty bow and arrow, reminding us that she never misses a target.  Watch out!

While I adore the relationship between Cheryl and Toni, I really wanted to see Cheryl break out of her shell and re-embrace her own identity.  She gets the chance to do that in the season 3 finale, as she reveals courage and strength, coming face-to-face with one of her greatest fears.  It’s amazing that Cheryl can be so incredibly traumatized, and rightfully so, but still push that aside to help her friends, which reminds us that she is extremely loyal.

Cheryl is typically thought of as a supporting character outside of the core 4:  Jughead, Betty, Archie, and Veronica.  However, for me, she absolutely stole the show.  While there were plenty of intense moments for all of our characters, I was rooting for Cheryl the entire time, as she became the unlikely hero of the day for me.

What’s next for Cheryl?  It was unlikely that Cheryl would come out of everything completely unscathed, as we see her welcoming home her brother Jason at the end of the episode, keeping his corpse with her at home.  Cheryl has had to process so much and she just discovered that her mother is the true Gargoyle King, which is enough to drive anyone over the edge.  However, this combined with the drama she faced at the Farm, along with discovering her brother’s body, has clearly taken its toll.  I am sure that this will be explored more in season 4 and hopefully Toni or Nana Rose can snap her back to reality.  I personally can’t wait to see what she does next!

Stay tuned for a recognized performance on TV each week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 21: “Harvest Happy Hour”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 21, I realized that illusions can be extremely powerful.  If we believe in something strongly enough, it has power over us.  But what happens when we break that hold?  Does our world come crashing down or do we unleash even greater threats in the process?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Fifty-Six:  The Dark Secret of Harvest House,” Betty discovers even more secrets about the Farm, as Edgar tries to get her to tap into her darkest fears.  Meanwhile, Archie challenges Hiram Lodge to a boxing match and Ethel reveals the identity of the Gargoyle King to Jughead.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 21 are:

5

“You are the illusion.”

In last week’s episode, Betty agreed to stay at the Farm, fearing the wrath of the Black Hood, but was this really the best decision?  In this episode, Betty has some one-on-one sessions with Edgar Evernever, as he uses some kind of hypnosis on her.  Betty begins to see another version of herself, which represents the darkness within her, as she is told that she has “the serial killer gene,” which apparently means that she has a predisposition to violence.  Betty continues with these sessions, but what she uncovers is even more shocking.

4

“I won.”

So, I initially thought it was a little ridiculous for Archie to challenge Hiram Lodge to an underground boxing match, but things started to make a lot more sense when I understood Veronica’s end game here.  After talking with Archie’s mom and her FBI friend, Veronica and Archie realize that they need to catch Hiram in the act.  What better way, than to have an illegal underground fight club going on with lots of underage drinking and gambling?  The fight is entertaining enough, but Hiram getting taken away was the real showstopper.

Veronica confronts her father and tells him that she has won, revealing that she knows what he did, but we know that Hiram always finds a loophole.  Later on in the episode, Archie goes to Veronica to explore their potential romance, but Reggie is already there.  It looks like Reggie beat Archie to the punch this time, but where does Veronica’s heart truly lie?  We’ll have to wait and see.

3

“Get your hands off my girlfriend.”

After some Nancy Drew investigating, Betty realizes that the Farm is harvesting organs.  Edgar tells the members of the Farm that they are undergoing some kind of procedure that will translate their mental pain into physical pain, while stealing some of their major organs.  Betty tries to warn her friends, who seem skeptical at first.  Cheryl initially tries to tell Betty that she has just booked her ticket to Shutter Island, but she starts to connect the dots as well when Betty shows her the proof.  Cheryl panics, explaining that Toni was just taken away for a procedure, while Choni fans everywhere held their breath.

Cheryl gets Toni out of there and pushes her out the window so that she can get a chance at freedom.  Cheryl stays behind, which was beyond heartbreaking, but I am relieved that Cheryl and Toni are finally seeing the truth behind the Farm.  We know that Toni has broken Cheryl out of some tough jams already, so hopefully she will recruit the Serpents and the Pretty Poisons to help Cheryl and the others escape.

2

“They’re gonna come for me…”

Cheryl is not the only one in danger, as Betty is now strapped to the table.  Edgar tells her that they are preparing her for her “procedure,” but Betty reminds him that her friends are going to come for her.  Let’s just hope that Jughead isn’t too busy with his own discovery to rescue Betty.  It looks like she can use some serious back-up right about now.  Perhaps Alice will finally snap out of this trance once she sees that her daughter is in danger?  Let’s hope so!

1

“I can tell you who the King is…”

While all the commotion is happening at the Farm, Jughead has an interesting conversation with Ethel, who is now back in action.  Ready for the reveal?  Ethel claims that the Gargoyle King is Jason Blossom, but “that’s impossible,” as Jughead points out…you know, since Jason Blossom is dead and all.  Jughead doesn’t leave anything up to chance; however, and digs up Jason’s grave, discovering that there is no body in there…so what does this mean?  Is it possible that Jason Blossom is truly alive or is someone using his identity as a cover-up?  I’m not sure, but I definitely did not see this twist coming and I’m beyond excited for the season finale next week.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 18: “She’s her Father’s Daughter”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 18, the Invasion of the Body Snatchers drama continued, as some of our favorite characters dove deeper into trouble.  Whether they were looking for answers or comfort, darkness is never too far away in Riverdale.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Fifty-Three:  Jawbreaker,” Jughead works with FP to investigate the town’s latest murder.  Meanwhile, Betty tries to get through to Alice, Toni worries about Cheryl’s involvement in the Farm, and Archie is up for a rematch with Veronica’s full support.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 18 are:

5

“I felt reborn.”

In the beginning of the episode, Betty continues her conversation with Edgar Evernever, who begins to reveal more about himself.  Edgar explains that he previously felt lost and found himself on a farm, which made him want to recreate that feeling of being reborn with his own farm.  Betty recognizes that it sounds like a nice story and all, but she is not buying it whatsoever.  Edgar does not reveal anything about how Cheryl and Alice are seeing their dead relatives, as he vaguely explains that they are discovering the best versions of themselves.  Betty refuses to let Edgar turn everything around on her and decides to get through to her mother once and for all.

4

“I’m always in your corner…”

Archie feels very passionate about honoring Baby Teeth’s death and Veronica works with him to get their gym, the El Royale, in the spotlight.  Elio agrees to let Archie have a rematch against Randy, but decides to dose him with “G,” which is some kind of bad batch of fizzle rocks that apparently turns people into zombies.  Not really, but the foaming at the mouth and the extreme behavior sort of had me thinking along those lines.  I mean, they are only a town away from Sabrina and Greendale so anything is possible.

Archie is able to knock Randy out, but the drugs may have actually done a lot of damage, as Randy is not waking up yet.  Even though the fight was entertaining, I was more interested in the lingering stare between Archie and Veronica.  Is there hope for Varchie?  It looks that way and even Josie notices that Veronica certainly didn’t hold back when she purchased Archie some new attire for the fight.

3

“You’re a daughter who wants her mother back just like I want my girlfriend back.”

Finally someone else notices what is going on with the Farm!  After Cheryl trades in her signature red for a white ensemble, Toni is beyond concerned about her.  Toni approaches Betty, who fills her in on what she knows so far.  Toni continues to try and get through to Cheryl, but Evelyn has other plans.  Evelyn confronts Toni and Toni tells her, “Bitch I love her and she loves me.”  Seriously Evelyn, you better watch out.  Evelyn proves to be manipulative and conniving, as she tells Cheryl that she needs to choose between Toni and Jason.  Toni says that there has to be another way and begins her own runway walk down the halls sporting some white attire.

I was a little worried that we had lost our girl Toni to the Farm as well, but she is undercover, still working with Betty.  I have to say that I really enjoyed the interactions between Betty and Toni in this episode.  We don’t typically see too much between these two, but they both have a common goal now and I’m interested to see them continue to work together to bring down the Farm for good.

2

“I will kill you…”

After crossing Toni, Evelyn makes the mistake of confronting Betty.  Betty has had enough and slams Evelyn against a locker and threatens her.  Go Betty!  She tells her that she sees right through her and wants her to stop messing with her and her family.  Betty doesn’t want to give up on her mother and even resorts to kidnapping her and keeping her in Dilton’s bunker.  It seems a bit extreme, but Betty will do anything for her mother.  Betty tells Alice, “The past is part of who you are,” but Alice doesn’t seem to want to remember the pain.  Alice even begins burning the old photos that Betty shows her and Betty comes to the realization that she may need to let her mother go after all.

After listening to one of the tapes, Betty hears her mother’s thoughts on her, recognizing the same darkness in Betty that she saw in Hal.  Betty continues to confide in her father about everything, but now he wants a favor in return.  He’s ready to return home, but I’m not really sure how that would work.  I mean, you don’t just get to leave prison and all.  Betty is continuously pushed again and again, but will this release the darkness within her or will she channel her love for her friends and family?

1

“Save the little princess.”

After Jughead and FP catch Kurtz, Kurtz continues to be overly creepy and tells Jughead that “Baby Teeth was only the warm up to the ultimate quest.”  He further explains that there is still one final game for Jughead and his family and we cut to Jellybean being brought to the Gargoyle King.  I have so many questions here.  Now that we have been focusing on the Farm so much, the Gargoyle King has taken a back seat, but it looks like he or she is done hiding in the shadows.  However, why is the Gargoyle King so interested in the Jones family?  Is there a connection between the Gargoyle King and Gladys?  We know that she is controlling the drug trade, but is she somehow pulling the Gargoyle King’s strings as well.  I previously thought that Hermione could be the woman behind the mask, but I’m not really sure what she would get out of hurting the Jones family.

There are a lot more players now and it’s difficult to determine who is the true Gargoyle King.  Jughead also previously thought that perhaps Baby Teeth was murdered by a copy cat killer.  Baby Teeth clearly struggled and he had a matchbook stuck in his throat from the Maple Club, which also potentially incriminates Penelope Blossom.  We know that there is a connection between the Gargoyle King and the Midnight club from so many years ago, but what is the real motive here?  If the Jones family is at the center of it, we need to carefully look at all of their potential allies and enemies.  It looks like no one can really be cleared as innocent, but what is their end goal?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

My Ship of the week ending 3/23/19 on TV goes to…

Cheryl and Toni on Riverdale, better known as Choni!  So, lately my heart has been sinking because my favorite couple on the show has been drifting apart and I feared that they might break up forever.  Cheryl channeled her rage into the Heathers musical in episode, “BIG FUN,” and Toni has been searching for her own identity for a few episodes now.  Cheryl and Toni continued to clash during the musical, which led to some serious tension, as Cheryl began resorting back to her mean girl ways.  However, Toni later approached Cheryl to get to the root cause of Cheryl’s anger, revealing a lot about what Cheryl thinks about love.  This gave Choni fans the opportunity to see a glimmer of hope and love between these two.  It doesn’t always have to be “all or nothing,” as relationships are about compromise as well.

The epic kiss between these two reminded us that the passionate spark has not burned out just yet and hopefully Cheryl and Toni can work together to build back an even stronger relationship.  Cheryl and Toni have a love that is passionate and beautiful, but it is much more than the steamy moments together.  Toni has been such an important influence on Cheryl’s life, showing her that she does not always need to keep her guard up.  In return, Cheryl has provided Toni with the opportunity to truly show off her talent, always seeing the potential and the good in her, which has helped Toni believe in herself.

What’s next for Choni?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but I would love to see these two continue to build up their relationship.  Cheryl and Toni are both very passionate women and sometimes tempers flare, but I’m hoping that they can talk things out, rather than pushing each other away, because these two are absolutely end game for me!

Stay tuned for a recognized Ship on TV each week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 16: “BIG FUN”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 16, I remembered why I love Riverdale so much.  It’s not always easy to do a musical episode, even though some shows have done an amazing job in the past, but Riverdale continues to provide us with the “BIG FUN” for sure.  It doesn’t feel forced or out of place, it just works and it gives us some great entertainment along the way, while continuing to further the plot.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Fifty-One:  BIG FUN,” our characters participate in the Heathers musical, but are in for a surprise when Evelyn Evernever is announced as the co-director of the play.  Meanwhile, Veronica’s family begins to fall apart, Toni and Cheryl have a dance-off filled with attitude, and Jughead tries to follow up on a lead that could tie back to his mother.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 16 are:

5

“Let’s fight for us.”

Even though we have a fabulous musical going on, the drama continues between some of our favorite couples.  The cat is out of the bag, thanks to Evelyn’s obnoxious share time circle, and everyone now knows about Archie and Josie.  Veronica takes the news surprisingly well, but she is distracted with her own issues at home.  Is Archosie just “two lonely souls filling a void” or is there something more here?  Archie suggests that they take that leap of faith together and find out who they are as a couple.  Even though Josie is hesitant at first, it looks like Archosie is still going strong for now.

4

“You make me feel better.”

During the episode, Veronica finds out that her parents are separating and she is devastated by the news.  Even though the Lodge family is far from perfect, Veronica insists that they can all work together as a family, but Hiram coldly tells her that he knows about Hermione trying to have him killed and tells her that they are not a family anymore.  Veroncia requests that they show up one final time together at the musical so she can try and hold on to some kind of happy memory, which they agree to for their daughter’s sake, but Hiram is not someone you want to cross.  Now that he knows that his wife has betrayed him, what will be his next move?  Meanwhile, Veronica runs back into the arms of Reggie during all of this, desperately trying to feel something, but she realizes that Reggie has stronger feelings for her and that maybe this wasn’t the best decision, even though Veggie fans are rooting for them.  Are they end game?  I’m not so sure about that, but Reggie thinks that they should cool it for a while until Veronica can figure out what she wants.

3

“You let it go.”

Jughead finds out that his old trailer could be potentially used to make drugs and he is beyond upset.  Jughead still clings to many memories here, but he also wants to stop his mother’s drug operation.  Betty gives him some advice and explains that he can just let it go, but it looks like Betty is starting a trend of burning things to the ground.  Even though burning the trailer brings Bughead closer, I am worried that Betty’s darkness has re-surfaced, but will she take this rage out on the Farm or on someone she loves?

2

“Maybe it’s not too late for us.”

While everyone practices for the musical, Cheryl shows off that she is the ultimate HBIC or the “demon queen of high school,” as if she were made for the role of Heather Chandler.  However, Cheryl is less than thrilled when Kevin announces that Toni will be the choreographer.  Toni and Cheryl continue to clash during a dance-off and the tension escalates when Toni wears a red ensemble, as Cheryl reminds her that “I am red…here, I invented red.”  The bitch is back and I wasn’t really liking it, as Cheryl has come so far with the help of Toni.  Fear not Choni fans, Toni gives Cheryl an olive branch of sorts and the two finally talk about their fight, suggesting that it is not too late for them after all.  Cheryl is used to an “all or nothing” approach to love, but Toni tries to remind her that this is not always the way.  Our favorite couple is reunited and they even share a kiss, having Choni fans cheering everywhere.

1

“I knew my dad would like it.”

Evelyn has been announced as the co-director of the play, which Betty is not thrilled about at all, recognizing an ulterior motive here.  Betty puts her spy skills to the test and finds out that Evelyn has been inducting some of her classmates into the Farm, but Principal Weatherbee seems unconvinced by Betty’s evidence, suggesting that perhaps he is also caught up with the Farm.  At the end of the musical, a slow clap begins, as Edgar Evernever, played by One Tree Hill’s Chad Michael Murray, stands up.  Others follow his lead, suggesting that the Farm is everywhere, but will Betty and Jughead be able to get to the bottom of this now that Edgar is out in the open?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 15: “A Norman Rockwell Painting with Leather Jackets”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 15, I thought back to Jughead’s question:  What exactly is the American Dream?  Does it involve being surrounded by family and friends?  And if so, what happens when that dream is threatened?  Do you go on pretending to protect those you love or do you shatter the picture perfect image to release the truth?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Fifty:  American Dreams,” Gladys buys Alice Cooper’s home, which makes things a little awkward for Jughead and Betty.  Meanwhile, our favorite couples all begin to clash, but is this the beginning of the end for them?  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 15 are:

5

“Do you love her FP?”

After Gladys buys the Cooper home with cash, she is ready to move in and get a do-over with her family.  FP recognizes the importance of keeping them all together and tells Alice that it’s over.  Alice asks him if he loves Gladys and he tells her that she is the mother of his children, but when Alice asks if FP loves her, he says, “It doesn’t matter now,” which is absolutely heartbreaking.  For all of you Falice fans, my heart goes out to you, but I’m not sure that FP will want to continue to rebuild his marriage once he discovers that Gladys has been lying about everything.  Don’t give up hope!

4

“Now we don’t owe each other anything.”

It seems like love is not in the air during this episode, as Reggie begins to clash with Veronica.  Reggie wants to become Veronica’s business partner and he has certainly proven his worth, but Veronica is a Lodge through and through, as she wants to be cautious about this decision, especially when she still owes Gladys and her father money.  Reggie is not happy with this and tries to steal back his car, but Gladys catches him, which is not good for anyone.  Veronica is able to smooth things over with Gladys, but not with Reggie, who just wants to matter.  Veronica just came out of a serious relationship with Archie, but I’m not sure she is ready to surrender the guard around her heart just yet.  In a selfless moment, she does buy back Reggie’s car from Gladys, but coldly explains that they don’t owe each other anything anymore, suggesting that Veggie is over for now.

“I need to focus my rage.”

In this episode, Cheryl and Toni continue to clash, as Toni is looking to find her own identity with the Pretty Poisons.  Cheryl tries to be supportive, but she feels Toni slipping away from her.  Cheryl pulls out all the stops in a gorgeous red gown and arrives to gamble, but Toni recognizes that she is casing the place, ultimately to get Toni’s attention.  This certainly works and provides Choni fans with a hot and steamy moment for these two, but it’s not enough.  Toni decides to move out of Cheryl’s house, suggesting it was maybe too soon too fast.  I felt for Cheryl so much in this moment, but our girl is not about to sit around crying.  While playing croquet, Cheryl summons Kevin and explains, “I need to focus my rage.”  And so we get our setup for the Heathers musical, which we have been anxiously waiting for.  I’m sure Cheryl will rock it as Heather Chandler, but will this distraction heal her broken heart?  I’m really hoping that Choni can reconcile, but it looks like our favorite couples are all dropping like flies.  Stay strong, Bughead!  I seriously can’t take another breakup.

2

“Sacrifice no more.”

Betty, Jughead, and Archie work together to find out how to save the Red Paladin.  Mr. Lodge has been supplying Archie with information and tells him that he gave out many “Kill the Red Paladin” cards, but Archie needs a way to lure them all out.  Jughead comes up with the brilliant idea to create an advanced quest as an addendum, but they need to make it look like it comes straight from the Gargoyle King.  The plan works, as we are welcomed to the “Iron Mountain,” better known as Mr. Lodge’s abandoned boxing gym.  How convenient.  Archie has no easy task in front of him, as he has to fight every opponent and win.  Archie sheds some blood and things are not looking so good when the last challenger steps in the ring, but Archie pulls through to win and tells him, “That was for me.”  Go Archie!  While Archie may have now retrieved all of the “Kill the Red Paladin” cards, I still do not trust Mr. Lodge.  Even though they have a truce now, he seems a little bit too forthcoming, but we’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds.

1

“I’m proud to be your son.”

Veronica comes clean with Betty and tells her all about Gladys, but Betty explains that she has to tell Jughead the truth.  Jughead initially doesn’t know what to make of this and tells Betty that he has to figure it out on his own, which had my heart sinking.  After discovering the truth, Jughead confronts his mother, but she reminds him that she is just trying to put her family back together again.  At FP’s 50th birthday party, Jughead is asked to give a speech and he has the opportunity to shed some light on everything, only he can’t break his father’s heart like this.  Jughead loves his father and knows that this news would destroy him.  In a heartwarming moment, Jughead says that FP is “someone who would do anything for his family” and further says, “We’ll always be there for you and I’m proud to be your son.”  However, Jughead Jones is not about to let anyone mess with his family, as he teams up with Betty in the end to determine what to do next, as Bughead remains strong.  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 14: “Fire Walk With Me”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 14, we were reminded that “running isn’t going to solve anything.”  However, what happens when “the hunters become the hunted?”  Do you accept your fate or do you set a new path?  A path of danger and destruction that might lead you back to the darkness you have tried so hard to keep at bay.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Chapter Forty-Nine:  Fire Walk With Me,” Archie tries to help a boy named Ricky who has the same branding as him.  Meanwhile, Jughead sets up a new chapter for the Serpents, Toni and Cheryl continue to drift apart, and Betty has had enough.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 14 are:

5

“One more strike and you’re done in my school.”

Both Toni and Jughead are lectured by Principal Weatherbee after some equipment is stolen from the chemistry lab.  I guess someone has been watching reruns of Breaking Bad, as we later learn that Kurtz is responsible.  Kurtz is bad news and Jughead tries to get through to him, but Kurtz says, “I play by a different set of rules.”  Jughead refuses to give up; however, as he enlists the help of his father, FP.  FP proposes that the Serpents work for him and help solve cases and that they will receive money and credit for college as well, which seems like a pretty good deal to me.  Will this keep the Serpents out of trouble for good?  We’ll have to see, but it looks like a new chapter is starting for them.  Way to go, Jughead!

4

“You are a detractor.”

During the episode, Betty continues to be snubbed by Kevin, who has embraced the Farm with open arms.  Betty tries to reason with Kevin, but he tells her that she is a detractor and doesn’t want to hear it.  After Betty witnesses Kevin walking on a fire pit to prove himself to the Farm, she is threatened by Evelyn, who reminds her that “everyone at the Farm knows all of your dirty secrets.”  Betty is forced to keep her mouth shut as a result, but we know that our modern day Nancy Drew will not stay quiet for long, as she debates her next move.  Look out Evelyn Evernever, Betty is not someone you want to mess with!

3

“I’m running my business my way.”

Veronica realizes that all of her money is going to her father and Gladys and decides that she will open up the secret casino again to add in some extra cash flow.  Veronica has really thought of everything, as she even comes up with clever hiding spots for the evidence in case they are raided.  Veronica tells her father that she will pay him, but she is going to run her business her way, as she enlists the help of Toni and the Pretty Poisons to keep everything secure and to keep Gladys out.  However, something tells me that Gladys doesn’t like taking no for an answer, so we’ll have to see how this unfolds.  Also, I’m glad that Toni is taking her leadership role seriously, but it seems like our favorite couple, Choni, is falling apart.  Can they fix things before it is too late?  Let’s hope so!

2

“You’re playing me?”

Archie meets a young boy named Ricky, who has been hiding out at the gym.  Archie realizes that Ricky has the same brand on him, which means sacrifice and he is determined to help him.  Archie has been in his shoes and he knows what it is like to be on the run so he instantly forms a connection to Ricky.  However, we learn that Ricky is actually Joaquin’s little brother and he has gotten mixed up with the Gargoyles, as he tries to take down the Red Paladin himself.  Archie is frustrated by this betrayal and it seems like he can’t trust anyone anymore.  Perhaps it is time for Archie to bring the fight directly to the Gargoyle King, but we still have to determine who that is first.

1

“I guess I just feel a lot better about things.”

At the end of the episode, Betty is upset with her mother for selling their house.  Alice keeps busy by packing boxes, but Betty seems distant and distracted, as she stares at a burning candle.  Later on, Betty meets up with Jughead and Archie to bring the team together again and says that she feels a lot better about things.  Alice walks into her house and sees that it is on fire, which means that Betty has taken a page out of Cheryl Blossom’s book, as she takes her anger out in a destructive way.  Betty has kept the darkness away for quite some time now, but has it just re-surfaced?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but I’m worried about our girl, Betty for sure.

I also want to take a minute to say that I am incredibly saddened by the news of Luke Perry’s passing.  I grew up watching him as Pike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210, and I continued to be blessed to witness his performance as Fred Andrews on Riverdale. Here are some of my favorite memories of him below.  RIP Luke Perry.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 13: “I Was Reborn”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 13, Gladys reminded us that “beggars can’t be choosers,” but what happens when you can’t be content with settling?  After all, there is always another negotiation waiting to be made in Riverdale, but are you prepared to deal with the consequences?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Forty-Eight:  Requiem for a Welterweight,” Archie pours his heart and soul into boxing, but winds up in a dangerous situation.  Meanwhile, Betty investigates the Farm further to protect her mother, Jughead has an eerie encounter, and Cheryl and Toni continue to clash.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 13 are:

5

“You want me to spy on my father for you?”

Veronica typically has no issues with spying on her own family, but she has second thoughts about it when Gladys approaches her with this very same idea.  However, Gladys is smart and strategic and reminds Veronica that they both want the same thing.  Veronica desperately wants her family out of the drug game and is willing to let Gladys be in charge, but Gladys proves that she can easily turn on someone, which makes her a very dangerous opponent.  Something tells me that she should not underestimate our girl, Veronica, however.

4

“You’re worth more than that.”

During the episode, Archie begins to channel all of his rage into boxing, but he becomes impatient when Coach Keller tells him that he is not ready for his first fight.  Elio is slithering around to make things interesting and agrees to let Archie participate in a fight, but only if he is willing to throw the match for money.  Archie initially seems willing to do so, but Josie reminds him that he is worth a lot more than that.  After Archie has second thoughts, Elio refuses to let him out of this agreement, reminding us that there are always consequences and I really wish Archie would think before he acts sometimes.  Archie trains with Coach Keller and actually puts up a valiant effort in the fight.  Even though it seems like he should have won, the fix is in and Archie is not determined the winner.  At least he has his dignity intact and his relationship with Josie progresses more.  Josie sees the good in Archie and seems to be a positive influence in his life, but I’m still wondering what Veronica will think about all of this.  You know, drama and all that.  Either way, it looks like this ship is here to stay for now.

3

“Is this gang mine or yours?”

Jughead begins to realize that he is losing members of the Serpents, as the girls all head over to Toni and Cheryl’s gang, The Pretty Poisons.  Jughead has a sit down with Toni and asks her to come back, but she tells him, “You want me back in the Serpents…make me Queen.”  Jughead cannot honor this request because of Betty, but he also learns that Toni is looking for a real opportunity to lead and she explains that the gang is more of a sisterhood.  However, this sisterhood is learning some serious archery skills thanks to Cheryl and they are ready to kick some ass if needed.

Choni 2 28

Cheryl is annoyed about Jughead’s comments to Toni and decides to show him “just how poisonous we pretties can be.”  Toni doesn’t want the group to be considered a “vanity project,” but she is not on board with Cheryl’s methods either.  Cheryl wants to  make an impression and remind everyone that they “are not to be dismissed or trifled with,” and the girls beat up some of the Serpents to further their point.  Toni confronts Cheryl about it later on and is very upset that she did this without talking to her first.  Cheryl tells Toni that the gang is still hers, but it looks like this group is driving a wedge between our favorite couple, Choni.  Toni is taking her new role very seriously, but Cheryl has to remember that she can’t always be the Queen Bee in every situation.  Let’s hope our girls can get back on track and reconcile.

2

“I did what you couldn’t.”

After striking out with Toni, Gladys suggests that Jughead recruit some of the Ghoulies since they don’t really have a strong leader present anymore, now that Penny is gone.  Jughead goes to visit their acting leader, Kurtz, who is beyond creepy.  Kurtz tells Jughead that Griffins and Gargoyles is not just a game and reminds him that “only the worthy will ascend.”  It seems like the remaining Ghoulies are too into the game to recognize reality, but Gladys recruits them anyway, making her presence known in Riverdale rather quickly.  What is her end game here?  We’ll have to wait and see, but we definitely have a new player in town, as she also successfully gains control over the drug game and Hiram agrees to handle the prison.  That is, as long as FP can send him lots of new potential inmates.  Watch out, FP.

1

“I was reborn.”

So, I was excited that we finally got to submerge ourselves into the Farm story a little bit more in this episode.  Alice tells Betty that she is being baptized into the Farm and even gets her old wedding dress altered for the occasion.  Jughead gives Betty some advice and tells her to embrace it or pretend so that she can see what is truly going on.  Betty puts her Nancy Drew skills to good use and begins investigating the Farm.  She can’t find a photo of Edgar Evernever anywhere, although I want to point her in the direction of a One Tree Hill rerun, but I’m sure we’ll get there soon enough.  Can’t wait to see you on the show, Chad Michael Murray!

Riverdale 2 28 Alice

Betty finally receives a tip from a woman named Martha who agrees to meet her.  Martha explains that members of the Farm are expected to get as close to death as possible to see the truth and even mentions “ascension,” which provides us with a link to Griffins and Gargoyles.  Does that mean that Edgar Evernever is the Gargoyle King?  Sounds a little too obvious to me, but there is definitely a connection here.  Betty finds out that Martha’s sister died by drowning when she was baptized and Betty rushes off to save her mother.  When she arrives, Polly has been holding Alice down under water, which is beyond disturbing.  I mean, I know you are in a cult here, but that’s your own mother.  Just saying.  Alice is initially not breathing, but Betty performs CPR and saves her.  Yay!  Later on, Betty talks to her mother and hopes that she will finally see the light, only Alice is under the impression that she was reborn and is now ready to give herself over to the Farm entirely and even plans on selling their house.  It looks like you have some more work to do, Betty.  We support you!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 12: “Pretty by Day, Poison by Night”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 12, Choni fans finally got to witness some quality screen time for our girls, Cheryl Blossom and Toni Topaz.  And I have to say, it was worth the wait!  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Forty-Seven:  Bizarrodale,” Tom and Sierra are ready to get married, but the Gargoyle King has some other plans for the Midnight Club.  Meanwhile, Archie continues to grow closer to Josie, Veronica comes face to face with Jughead’s mom, Kevin is tired of hiding in the shadows, and Cheryl and Toni have their first fight.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 12 are:

5

“And suddenly I’m in an episode of Ozark.”

I have to admit that Veronica drops some of the best references on the show and it is well appreciated.  We may not be in Ozark, Missouri, but Riverdale has its own set of problems to deal with.  After destroying the drugs last week, Veronica learns that her actions may have some very steep consequences.  After realizing that she does not have enough money to cover her debt, Veronica and Reggie come face to face with Gladys Jones, otherwise known as Jughead’s mom.  Gladys agrees to put Veronica on a payment plan of sorts while taking Reggie’s beloved car as collateral, but she reminds them not to tell Jughead about her involvement here.  Now that Gladys and Jellybean are back in town, something tells me that the drama will not stop here.  What else does Gladys have up her sleeve?  We’ll have to wait and find out, but I’m looking forward to exploring it further.

4

“So maybe I can help you feel a little less alone.”

Or maybe you are going to end up kissing Josie, but are you really ready for a new relationship, Archie?  During this episode, Josie and Archie continue to grow closer.  Archie agrees to take Josie to her music audition and truly listens to her about some of her hopes and doubts about life.  Their friendship has blossomed into something more, but what will happen when Veronica finds out?  We know that Veronica has moved on to Reggie, but is she truly over Archie?

3

“We finish the game we started.”

Tom and Sierra are excited to announce their wedding, but even the Gargoyle King wants to send his or her best wishes.  We quickly learn that the rest of the Midnight Club have received similar notes and are told that they must finish the game to protect their children.  Only we soon learn that it was a distraction, leaving all of their children in potential danger.  It seems like the adults in town need to take some much needed cues from their children.  Perhaps we needed more screen time for Betty Cooper in this episode so she could school the adults again.  Either way, we know that the Midnight Club is still very much involved here and we still have a lot of unanswered questions.

2

“You wanted to destroy what you couldn’t have.”

Kevin and Moose finally got some screen time in this episode as well, as Moose decides to finally come out to his father, which was no easy decision.  While Moose is under the impression that his father is supporting him, Mr. Mason decides to recruit some of the junior ROTC members and kidnaps both Kevin and Moose, while posing as the Gargoyle King.  Luckily, everyone arrives before anyone is hurt, but Mr. Mason explains that there was no poison in the chalices and he was never going to hurt the boys.  Later on, Mr. Mason reveals that he had once possessed romantic feelings for Tom Keller back in the day and was rejected.  Clearly Mr. Mason is not over this, but taking it out on your son is not the way to go.  Also, it seems like pretty much anyone can just find this Gargoyle King mask and try to get their dirty work done without being caught.  While it looks like this may be the end for Kevin and Moose, something tells me that Kevin has someone out there who is truly worthy.

1

“We know how to dominate too.”

The wait is finally over, as Choni fans got to witness some quality screen time for our favorite couple.  Although, it was not all happy moments for these two, which actually really helped elevate their couple status for me.  During the episode, Cheryl is upset to find out that her mother is trying to prevent her from being accepted into the college of her choice because of her alumni status.  After almost outing Moose in front of the entire school, Toni and Cheryl have an argument, as Toni sheds some light on what really matters in life.  Later on, Toni and Cheryl take on “operation fifty shades of blackmail” and Penelope eventually folds so that Cheryl has an in at her college of choice.  After all, she can’t have her Maple Club clients exposed.  Previously, Cheryl has always been known to be somewhat selfish, but her character has really transformed thanks to “TT.”  Cheryl gives her interview time to Toni, recognizing her girlfriend’s talent and potential, which is a beautiful moment.  She also takes things one step further, when she forms a new gang of sorts for Toni, realizing how much Toni loved being a Serpent.  The girls will be known as “The Pretty Poisons,” but I wonder how the Serpents will react to this new group?  Either way, Cheryl finally took a moment to put Toni’s needs above her own and truly expressed her love for her with her actions.

Overall, the episode provided us with some more setup without Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones, who only had about 30 seconds of screen time.  While I appreciated the screen time for Choni and Kevin, I feel like we can still move the plot forward without leaving characters out.  However, the episode still left us with a lot of questions about The Gargoyle King, The Midnight Club, and Gladys’s return to town, but still no mention of the farm.  Either way, I was very excited to see the growth of Cheryl and Toni’s relationship in this episode, as their love has become something more than passionate and beautiful.  It has now transcended into a selfless and unconditional love that is not to be taken for granted.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post some of your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  I would love to hear from you!  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
