Ranking the top 5 moments from “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” season 1 episode 11: “A Midwinter’s Tale”

Happy Saturday TV fans!  After watching Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 1 episode 11, we were reminded that ‘Tis the Season for seances during the witching hour.  While we all have our own traditions during the holidays, the Spellman family wished us a “Happy Solstice” and asked that “Satan bless us everyone.”  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In episode 11, “Chapter Eleven:  A Midwinter’s Tale,” the Spellman family prepares for the “Winter Solstice,” but Sabrina has a few magical ideas of her own.  Meanwhile, Susie gets in a bit of trouble during her holiday job and Aunt Zelda is preoccupied with baby Leticia.  My top 5 moments from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 1 episode 11 holiday special are:

5

“Christmas is the best time for ghost stories.”

In the beginning of the episode, we learn a bit about some of the Spellman family traditions during the holidays, which center around burning a “Yule Log,” which is meant to ward off evil spirits during the solstice.  It is very important that the “Yule Log” fire does not go out or the Spellman family will be vulnerable to many magical threats.  Sabrina recognizes that things are very different this year, but she can’t help missing her parents during this time, as she looks at a photo ornament of them that is very dear to her heart.  Sabrina remembers that she crossed paths with her mother in limbo and is desperate to find a way to help her, but perhaps this isn’t the best night to do so.

4

“Too soon or too weird?”

Sabrina is determined to contact her mother with a seance, recognizing that the veil thins between the living and the dead during the solstice.  After Ambrose turns down her request, Sabrina goes to see Miss Wardwell, who initially seems willing to help Sabrina, but recognizes that she will need to run some interference to prevent Sabrina from going down the wrong path.  Sabrina tries to include her mortal friends, but they are not really too excited about participating in the seance.  Sabrina does not take “no” for an answer; however, as she recruits Prudence and her sisters to assist with the ritual.  It seems like everything is working perfectly when the spirit of Diana Spellman appears before them, but other magical beings begin to break through the veil as well, which threatens everyone in the Spellman home.

3

“Is this what it’s like being a witch?”

During all the commotion at the Spellman residence, we also learn that Susie has gone missing when her Santa Claus boss, Mr. Bartel, tries to turn her into a wax figure for his creepy collection.  We learn that Bartel is actually a demon, but Sabrina and her aunts are ready to help save the day, as they enlist the help of Gryla, who is a demon that gathers the lost souls of children.  It looks like Susie will be OK and everything is back to normal for now, but I think she will be researching her next job opportunity with a little bit more care next time.

2

“Please don’t ever do that again.  Use magic.”

During the episode, we also get a Harvina moment, as Sabrina tries to make amends with Harvey by giving him an enchanted pencil set.  Harvey later gives the gift back to Sabrina and explains that he doesn’t want her to use magic anymore with him.  Sabrina clearly cares about Harvey a lot, but she also recognizes that he may not be ready or willing to walk down the path of night with her.  I’m still hoping that these two can work things out; however, because they are absolutely adorable together.

1

“Mom…you’re beautiful.”

In a heartwarming moment, Sabrina gets a very brief moment with her mother and confides in her about Harvey and some of her doubts and fears.  Her mom helps her quite a bit, even though she cannot stay for very long, but it looks like Sabrina will cherish this brief encounter forever.  Sabrina’s mother was mortal and understands all too well what it means to walk down the path of night, but Sabrina may need to experience this for herself, as her path may be different.  At the end of the episode, Zelda decides to bring baby Leticia to Desmelda to keep her safe, which leaves us with some more unanswered questions.  Is Desmelda a friend or foe?  What will Miss Wardwell do next?  Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday special.  I appreciated that the show took the time to celebrate with our favorite characters, while continuing the plot as well to get us ready for new episodes on April 5th 2019.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 9: “Happy Holidays”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 9, I realized that the holidays are about hope, love, giving, and family.  But what happens when you lose that hope?  Are you lost forever or is there a sliver of it still dimming in the dark?   Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Spear,” Michael gathers his army in Kansas City and Garth attempts to work undercover, but is in way over his head.  Meanwhile, Sam and Dean split up to try and track down weapons that will hurt Michael.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 9 mid-season finale are:

 5

“Cookietacular is the secret password.”

In the beginning of the episode, Jack and Castiel have a heartwarming talk and we learn that Sam and Dean do not know about Castiel’s deal with “The Empty.”  Castiel tries to explain to Jack that they don’t need that burden.  He further reveals that “this life may be a lot of things, but it’s rarely happy.”  However, on the bright side, they do have “Crunch Cookie Crunch,” which actually looks pretty appetizing.  Castiel may think he has a lot of time left, but we know that “The Empty” will not stay gone for long.  It seems like everyone on the show wants to protect someone else from knowing the truth, but perhaps some openness can allow our favorite characters to prepare for the worst in advance?

4

“You put the only weapon we have against Michael in the mail?”

Ketch calls in to well…catch up and to also fill the Winchester brothers in on the status of the egg, which is a weapon that can harm Michael.  Everyone is very short on time, but Ketch decided to put this important weapon in the mail.  The post office is closed for the holidays, which gives Sam and Jack a chance to track it down before it winds up in the wrong hands, but they quickly realize that Michael is one step ahead of them.  Jack is captured by Michael and Sam is injured, which puts everyone on edge, as they realize that they are running out of time.  So, maybe the mail was not such a great idea.  Just saying Ketch.

3

“I gotta be on the winning side.”

Garth is back and is working undercover to help Sam and Dean fight Michael, but perhaps he is in a little bit over his head.  Michael recognizes Garth, but allows him to “volunteer,” which means that he will need to take Michael’s amped-up archangel grace.  Garth initially thinks that he can fool Michael, but is forced to swallow every last drop.  Later on, Garth’s transformation begins and he attacks Sam.  Sam is able to knock him out for now, but hopefully someone has a cure for him.  Either way, it’s always nice to see a familiar face on Supernatural.

2

“So if you’re not gonna give it to me…kill me.”

After Michael destroys the egg, there is only one weapon left that we know will harm Michael.  Dean tracks down other Kaia, who is not about to let her spear go without a fight.  Dean reasons with her and asks for her help and Kaia agrees.  Kaia wants something in return; however, and asks for Jack to open the door again so that she can return to her world.  Dean agrees without hesitation, even though we know that Jack has lost his powers, but I guess it’s one crisis at a time for now.

1

“Impossible odds…feels like home.”

After we learn that Michael’s plan is to turn every single person in Kansas City, our favorite characters are ready to face him and stop him once and for all.  Dean valiantly fights against Michael with the spear, but Michael knows exactly what he is doing.  In a twist, Michael possesses Dean again and destroys the spear.  He explains that he wanted to bury Dean and destroy every last inch of his hope.  Dean is gone and Michael now has an army waiting and ready for Michael’s signal, which is Dean snapping his fingers.  We will have to wait until January 17th for new episodes, but I am slightly disappointed that we are back to the possession story-line again.  While I knew that there had to be a reason for Michael letting Dean go, I feel like this has already been done.  It looks like Sam, Castiel, and Jack will need to tap into Dean’s mind to free him somehow, but I’m not that invested in this.  I’m hoping that we get some more campy horror fun and some screen time for Rowena and Nick/Lucifer.  Stay tuned for new episodes in the New Year!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 8: “The Hellmouth of Riverdale”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 8, we were reminded that “there’s no such thing as normal” in our favorite mysterious town.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Chapter Forty-Three:  Outbreak,” Archie and Jughead are reunited with Jughead’s mother and sister.  Meanwhile, there is a mass seizure at school and Cheryl finally gets some well deserved screen time, reminding us that no one messes with her “TT.”  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 8 mid-season finale are:

5

“You can stay here for as long as you like…even permanently.”

In the beginning of the episode, the Vixens all collapse in the school hallway with a mass seizure, only Cheryl is not impacted.  Cheryl is horrified by this and rushes to Toni’s side, as she calls for help.  It looks like everyone will be OK, but this leads to Cheryl taking care of her “TT” and giving her some much needed bed rest.  Cheryl offers to let Toni stay with her indefinitely, which is a sweet and romantic gesture.  While we still only got about less than five minutes of screen time for our favorite couple, it was sweet to see Cheryl care for Toni in this way.  Toni seems more than willing to move in, as long as she is the “big spoon,” which seems like a fair compromise.  But why was Cheryl immune to the mass seizure?  Her mother later has a seizure as well, which makes me wonder what her connection is, but I still don’t have much to go on here.

4

“They tried to banish me to New York.”

After Veronica has a seizure, she is brought home and her mother and father suggest that she goes off to New York, but Veronica is not about to leave Riverdale anytime soon.  Veronica continues to challenge her parents and recruits Reggie to find out some information about “fizzle rocks.”  Hiram clearly wants Veronica on his side and is impressed by her, but Veronica continues to remain strong, even though Archie has left her.  However, it looks like Veggie fans will get an opportunity to see a steamy moment between these two, as new episodes in January could lead to a new potential romance for Veronica and Reggie.  But what will Archie have to say about this?

3

“Drop the butter knife, bitch.”

Jughead and Archie meet up with Jughead’s mother, Gladys Jones, and his sister, Jellybean.  His family is very excited to see him and his mother is actually pretty hilarious, as she initially thinks that Archie and Jughead are together romantically and they kindly correct her, informing her that it’s really more of a “bromance.”  Later on, Penny shows up to stir up some trouble, but Jellybean is not about to let her threaten her family, as she puts her slingshot skills to the test.  Gladys then takes a turn and suggests that she and Penny have some quality “girl time” together, as she gets some information about Hiram’s plan.  I have to say that Jughead’s family is pretty bad-ass, but Gladys makes the right call when she has FP and Fred show up.  Archie continues to go on his journey alone, but he knows that his father is there for him no matter what.  I’m just wondering when Archie will decide to return home.  It looks like Riverdale is in desperate need of his help right now.

2

“You messed with my squad, which means you messed with me.”

Cheryl and Veronica team up and prove that they are not scared of the adults in Riverdale at all.  While Veronica openly challenges her father, Cheryl is on board to torture her mother into a confession by dumping buckets of maple syrup on her.  Penelope eventually gives in and talks about Hiram’s plan to turn Riverdale into his own “kingdom” or “Vice City.”  Cheryl is a queen and is not about to let anyone threaten the Vixens or her beloved “TT.”  Seriously, you don’t want to get on Cheryl’s bad side.

1

“Follow me, your Griffin Queen.”

During the episode, we learn that Betty has been playing the part all too well at the Sisters of Quiet Mercy, which Cheryl hilariously refers to as “the hellmouth of Riverdale.”  Betty takes her “candy,” but later vomits to ensure that she has a clear mind.  Betty recognizes that the Gargoyle King hallucinations are coming from the drugs and tries to recruit Ethel.  After locking Ethel up in the Gargoyle King’s chambers, Ethel comes down from her high and realizes that she is merely standing before a statue of a gargoyle.  Ethel agrees to help Betty and they capture Sister Woodhouse, looking to finally get some concrete answers.  Sister Woodhouse reveals that the game was created within their walls, but that it never should have been released into the world.  So who released the game?  Betty continues her plan by playing the part of the “Griffin Queen” to help everyone escape from the Sisters of Quiet Mercy, but do they have anywhere to go now?

The town of Riverdale is now under quarantine, which means that no one can leave and no one can get back in.  At the end of the episode, Hiram is pleased and cheers to the King, revealing that he is also seeing the Gargoyle King.  So who is the actual Gargoyle King?  Whoever he or she is, they are calling the shots.  Also, Betty pointed out that the Gargoyle King is a hallucination, but we know that Alice also saw him when she was not on fizzle rocks like the rest of the Midnight club, so does this have any significance?  Alice is caught up with the farm and we still have a lot to learn about them as well.  Overall, it was a jam-packed mid-season finale and I am looking forward to new episodes returning January 16th Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 3: “The Real Game Is Just Beginning”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 3, Hiram Lodge reminded us, “Don’t make enemies of the people trying to help you,” but it’s difficult to determine who is a friend and who is a foe in Riverdale.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty-Eight:  As Above, So Below,” Jughead begins his first game of “Griffins and Gargoyles.”  Meanwhile, Betty tries to talk to Evelyn, Veronica opens her club, “La Bonne Nuit,” and Archie becomes a star.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 3 are:

5

“I couldn’t have done it without my favorite power couple.”

I think it’s safe to say that Cheryl and Toni, otherwise known as Choni, may be everyone’s favorite power couple.  At least they are definitely mine.  Veronica approaches Cheryl and Toni, initially looking for Jughead, and Cheryl hilariously says, “You mean True Detective?  He’s busy canoodling Nancy Drew no doubt.”  Seriously Cheryl is laugh out loud funny.  Veronica is looking for some material to blackmail her father and Toni has an in on where one of the Jingle Jangle drug labs are.  My favorite trio is back, reminding me of when Toni and Veronica teamed up to rescue Cheryl last season, as the three put their own sleuth skills to the test, capturing the drug lab on camera while looking absolutely fabulous.  It was nice to see some more air time for Cheryl and Toni, who definitely know how to make an entrance together.

4

“I’m shaking you down.”

Betty gives Veronica some really great advice when she tells her to focus on herself for a change.  Veronica has been so worried about Archie, but she does have a business to run.  Veronica decides to open up her club, “La Bonne Nuit,” but things get complicated when she gets a visit from Penny, a delivery of Jingle Jangle, and her father snooping around.  Veronica is not threatened; however, and she tries to get some leverage over her father, only he pretty much anticipates her every move.  Either way, Veronica’s opening night is a success, as Josie performs and Kevin gets his moment in the spotlight as the MC.  Congrats Veronica!

3

“That kid is a star.”

Archie initially turns down the warden’s request to be the next “mad dog,” but changes his mind when the warden initially uses Joaquin.  Archie is always trying to do the right thing and agrees to take his place, which involves some kind of fighting pit for entertainment.  Archie starts winning fights, but the warden reminds him that he wants him to put on more of a show.  Archie ultimately decides to take several punches before ending the fight, giving the warden the entertainment he is looking for without beating his opponent badly.  The warden approves and recognizes Archie’s star potential, but Archie realizes that he needs to get out of there before things escalate further.  Archie has clearly been watching one too many episodes of Prison Break, as he decides that they will need to plan their escape from jail.  Good luck Archie.

2

“We know all each other’s secrets.”

Betty decides to approach Evelyn, even though she gives off a major creepy vibe, to find out more information about the farm and its possible connection to the game.  Betty is surprised when Evelyn and some members of the farm show up at her house, ready to find out all of Betty’s secrets.  Although I’m not sure there is much left to tell since they already know about the body in the kitchen and Betty’s “webcamming” past.  Alice has disclosed all of their family secrets, but does she know what she is doing?  Betty requests an audience with Edgar, but is turned down.  She tries to make a connection to the seizures, but no one seems willing to open up to her.  Alice even tells her daughter that she trusts the farm more than her, which is heartbreaking to hear.  Betty recognizes that the farm is a threat, but will she be able to find out what is really going on there before it’s too late?

1

“Welcome to your first game.”

After approaching Ethel again after her seizure, she determines that Jughead is worthy to play the game.  Ethel agrees to hand over the rule book or the “scripture” only after he completes his first test.  You would think possibly drinking poison would be punishment enough, but Ethel tells Jughead that he also needs to kiss her in order to obtain the rule book.  Poor Jughead.  For some reason, Ethel decides to drink from the other cup and winds up in the hospital again, but is OK for now.  However, she is having conversations with “The Gargoyle King” and explains that she found him someone truly worthy to play, meaning Jughead.  Later on, FP and Alice discover the rule book and burn it, not wanting their children anywhere near it.  Betty and Jughead quickly realize that their parents know something about the game, but we still don’t get any concrete answers here.  Later on, everyone gets their very own copy of the rule book placed in their school lockers, revealing that “the real game is just beginning.”  New episodes return November 7thStay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 7: “I’m So Far Up Shit’s Creek I Don’t Even Have Lunch Money”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 7, Lip reminded us that every Gallagher is a “problem child,” but at least they can rely on one another to support each other when in need.  Even when they hit rock bottom, another Gallagher is there to pick up the pieces, reminding us that they may be far from the perfect family, but they all love each other very much.  Well maybe Frank is a lost cause, but you get the idea.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Down Like the Titanic,” Fiona’s world continues to spiral out of control.  Meanwhile, Carl learns a new word, Kev wants a baby, and Lip crosses paths with Tami again, bringing back his “Jabby” nickname as well.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 7 are:

5

“I never realized how much fun indoor tobogganing could be.”

Me either Ingrid, but I am sort of itching to try it out now.  Frank continues his adventure with Ingrid and encourages her to stay off her meds, which leads to a lot of fun along the way.  Their dates consist of tobogganing down the stairs, Ingrid shaving Frank in the tub, and Frank getting the opportunity to try out being a therapist for the day with a distraction or two.  Ingrid’s ex-husband, Randy, tries to warn Frank that Ingrid is going to crash sooner or later and shows him the 14 stab wounds he has from when she was off her meds before, but Frank is not ready to let his crazy new love go just yet.  While Frank begins to detect signs that Ingrid is losing it, he is still convinced that she is not too much for him to handle and even has a heart-to-heart talk with Randy about it.  While I’m enjoying the fun these two are having, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before Ingrid’s behavior escalates, leading to unforeseen consequences, but is Frank up for the challenge?  We’ll have to wait and see.

4

“You guys invited Jabby?”

Tami is back, played by the wonderful Kate Miner, and she sure knows how to make an entrance at her nephew’s Christening.  Lip tries to initially avoid Tami, but she calls him out in front of the entire church, bringing the “Jabby” nickname back as well.  Tami is now ready to go on a date with Lip after initially insulting his sex game earlier and they actually seem to hit it off.  Tami now scores Lip a 6 out of 10 on his sex game, but he works his way up to a 9.5.  What’s next for these two?  I’m not sure, but it seems like Tami is a lot of fun and can perhaps snap Lip out of his funk.

3

“5 total or 5 per daughter?”

Kev is upset when he sees that V has bagged up all of the baby toys, ready to give it to her friend, Chantal.  Kev is not ready to part with everything yet, even though his daughters are now four.  Kev creates a “keep” and “not keep” pile and even gives us his own rendition of “I’m a little Teapot.”  After coming across a bear that has his voice recorded on it, Kev realizes that he is ready to have another baby, only V is not looking to have another kid.  At the end of the episode, V tells Kev that she is willing to adopt a baby, compromising with Kev and reminding us why we love these two together so much.

2

“She’s nonstop ugly crying.”

During the episode, Debbie is very worried about Fiona and discovers that she was in a car accident after learning about Ford being married.  Debbie is truly there for Fiona and helps her out as best she can.  When Debbie consoles Fiona, it’s almost like she has now become the big sister.  Fiona has been there for Debbie so many times before and it was truly heartwarming to see the role reversal here.  Fiona finally comes face to face with Max, who bails her out enough so that she can keep her credit intact, but Fiona is forced to move out with nothing, even leaving Rusty behind.  I’m hoping that she comes to her senses and brings her new friend back home with her, however.  Seriously who is going to take care of Rusty now?  Fiona continues to drink away the pain and actually makes grocery shopping seem fun and entertaining, as she gathers supplies and plenty of alcohol to throw herself a welcome home party at the Gallagher home.  Is Fiona ready to accept defeat once her buzz wears off?  We’ll have to wait and see, but it looks like Carl will not be able to move into his own room like he initially planned after all.

1

“What kind of torture are we talking?”

“True, brutal, and unrelenting.”  Well said Farhad.  Well said.  Debbie is not about to sit by and let Ford get away with hurting her sister.  She enlists the help of Farhad and Alex and tells them that they are three skilled laborers and that she wants to really make this one hurt.  Alex says she is in after learning that they can use power tools.  At the end of the episode, Debbie puts a blindfold on Fiona and brings her out to the street where they have constructed an enormous sign that says:  “This man is an asshole.”  Sure it gets the point across, but Ford is actually propped up in the middle of the sign with his bare ass hanging out.  Fiona chooses his form of punishment wisely and goes for the paint ball gun, firing away at Ford’s behind.  You should really never ever mess with a Gallagher.  What’s next for Fiona and the rest of the gang?  We’ll have to wait until January 20th 2019 for new episodes, but at least this season was extended from 12 episodes to 14, which means we have 7 more episodes to look forward to.  Something tells me that it will be worth the wait.  Stay tuned!

The 2018 September Season TV Premieres I am most looking forward to: Bring on the new episodes!

Fall is quickly approaching and while you may be sad that summertime is almost over, some of my absolute favorite things are returning.  What’s your favorite part of fall?  Whether you adore Halloween or pumpkin spice lattes or the leaves changing colors, there is something for everyone.  It also means that some of our favorite TV shows are returning and new series will be making their debut as well.  While we may have to wait a little longer for some shows to return, September is jam packed with lots of programming to choose from.  Without further delay, the 2018 September Season TV premieres I am most looking forward to in no particular order are:

The Purge

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Shameless

American Horror Story:  Apocalypse

The Purge:

“This is your Emergency Broadcast System announcing the commencement of the Annual Purge. At the siren, all crime, including murder, will be legal for 12 hoursAll emergency services will be suspended.”

The Purge is a new series based on the movies we have come to know and love.  It will premiere on the USA network on September 4th.  I have to admit that I absolutely love the movies and I am excited to see what new elements will be brought to the series.  It seems like we will get a good mix of character flashbacks and content featured around the actual purge night.  I am trying to go into the series without too much background information because I truly want to enjoy the ride, but I am hoping for the best.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia:

“Aw yeah, yeah, like in The Sixth Sense you find out that the dude in that hair piece the whole time, that’s Bruce Willis the whole movie.”

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will be premiering on the FXX network on September 5th It has been quite some time since fans have gotten some new episodes and I am literally counting the days until we can join the gang for some crazy and over-the-top adventures.  While I have enjoyed watching shows and movies featuring some of the cast, there is always just something missing for me if everyone from “Patty’s Pub” is not involved.  Is there a new Lethal Weapon movie ready to be unleashed?  Will Charlie discover the true meaning of Charlie Work?  Stay tuned!

Shameless:

“That’s right. NO ONE F*KS WITH A GALLAGHER!”

One of my absolute favorite shows is Shameless and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the Gallagher family this season.  The new season premieres on Showtime on September 9th I absolutely adored the introduction of Carl’s girlfriend, Kassidi, last season and I can’t wait to see what she does next when she discovers that Carl has gone back to military school.  Fiona has also come a long way as a business woman and Debbie lost some of her toes, but something tells me that these two strong women are not going to let anyone get in their way.  Get ready to laugh out loud as we get to follow the crazy antics of our favorite family on TV!

American Horror Story:  Apocalypse

“Surprise bitch…I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.”

I thought that seemed like the most appropriate quote since many of our favorite characters from past seasons will be back for the new season of AHS.  Are you ready?  I have to admit that I might be the most excited for this season and I adore Ryan Murphy’s work.  The new season is set to premiere on the FX network on September 12th We know that AHS is known for giving us unexpected twists and turns, but something tells me that they will not be holding anything back with this new season.  A great cast, a great premise, and lots and lots of potential!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post the shows you are looking forward to premiering in September 2018 in the comments section below.  Happy viewing and thanks so much for reading!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 17: The Wait is Over!

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 17 last night, we learned that new alliances have been formed, which bring together former enemies and divide other families even further than Shakespeare could have thought even possible.  While the line between blood and loyalty has blurred almost into non-existence for some, others have put aside their selfish needs to do what is right for everyone.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty:  The Noose Tightens,” the car in Swedlow Swamp resurfaces, causing new enemies to come to town and pushing Alice to the breaking point.  Meanwhile, Betty wants a serpent tattoo, Archie continues to act first and think later, and Veronica and Toni team up to rescue Cheryl from the “Sisters of Quiet Mercy.”  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 17 are:

5

“No need to become the Montagues and Capulets just yet.”

It’s all out in the open now that Fred Andrews is running for mayor against Hermione Lodge and it’s about time someone took a stand to protect the town of Riverdale.  When the Andrews family comes face to face with the Lodge family, you can cut the tension with way more than a knife.  Veronica and Archie immediately detect that this is only going to get worse and Veronica tries to make light of it with some Shakespeare humor.  However, we all know that Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy and that the young lovers are the ones who get caught up in the cross fire.  Can the same be said for team Varchie?

4

Nothing stays hidden for long.

Alice is shocked to learn that the car belonging to the man Chic killed, Dwayne, has re-surfaced in Swedlow Swamp.  Alice sits down with FP, Jughead, and Betty to come up with a plan and FP reminds them of the importance of laying low and acting normal in the meantime.  However, Betty even admits that “normal is investigating when the world says they shouldn’t.”  Our favorite detective team, Bughead enlists the help of Kevin to get more information and is shocked to learn that the stolen car has been claimed by the owner.  Chic involves himself further than he should and contacts Darla who is the ex-girlfriend of Dwayne.  As if right on cue, Darla shows up at the Cooper house and tries to blackmail them for $10,000.  Alice is more than happy to give her the money and wipe her hands clean of this whole mess, but the drama isn’t over just yet.

3

“Who are you Archie?”

An excellent question from his mother and Archie should really take some time and look in the mirror to figure it out.  Archie continues to make the wrong decisions and is losing his temper more and more.  Archie even threatens some of Mr. Lodge’s criminal business associates without blinking an eye, which even has Mr. Lodge reminding him that he shouldn’t pick a fight he can’t finish.  After the Lodge family discovers that “Agent Adams” has double crossed them, they are not sure what the long term plan is.  The Lodge family is currently in danger, but Archie will stop at nothing to protect him.  Rather than show up to support his father announcing his intent to run for Mayor, Archie sets the “Dark Circle” loose on their enemies, which leads to him getting a thank you car from Mr. Lodge.  Archie is creating an even bigger divide between him and his family without realizing it, which has us wondering, is all of this really worth losing your soul over?  A Faustian deal comes to mind, especially when we can easily imagine Mr. Lodge as the devil, signing contracts in blood.  Will Archie be able to come back from this?  Will his family be able to forgive him?

2

Alice makes the right decision.

When Betty goes to retrieve the $10,000 from the bank, the man who was Chic’s “manager” shows up as well and it’s clear that the Cooper family is in a lot of trouble again because of Chic.  Luckily, the Serpent gang shows up as back-up to help them.  Darla and the manager leave for now with the cash, but it’s still very dangerous that they know more than they should.  After all, secrets never stay buried for long in Riverdale.  Alice is beyond grateful and makes an announcement to the Serpents that she is done attacking the South Side.  She makes the difficult decision to ask her son, Chic to leave since he has put her family in danger twice now and then shows up later on FP’s doorstep.  Are Alice and FP back together?  Will Chic really stay away?

1

Toni rescues Cheryl.

Fans were more than disappointed after the interrupted first kiss between Choni, but fear not, love is still blooming in the air.  Toni enlists the help of Veronica and Josie to help find Cheryl, as she knows that there is no way that she is being held in a boarding school, especially since her social media account has been dead silent.  The girls go and confront Mrs. Blossom who is armed and ready.  She tells them that Cheryl is mentally ill and even shows Josie the picture that Cheryl sketched not too long ago of the two of them, revealing that Cheryl was the one who was threatening and stalking her.  Josie is out, but Veronica and Toni are not about to completely abandon their friend.  Nana Rose makes the right call and tries to help Toni find Cheryl but is rudely interrupted by Uncle Claudius.  They then learn from Kevin that the “Sisters of Quiet Mercy” practice gay conversion therapy and that there is a secret tunnel that can lead them to Cheryl.  Toni and Veronica put on their fantastic spy-like outfits which have just the right amount of flair and break in.  Cheryl is stunned when she sees Toni and the two share a swoon-worthy kiss in front of the film screen.  The cheers for Choni should be deafening as this kiss was well worth the wait.  Veronica and Toni successfully rescue Cheryl who is surprisingly not broken from this ordeal.  Rather, she says that “revenge is a dish best served cold,” and informs Kevin that she is ready to take on the lead of the school play, which is none other than Carrie White from Stephen King’s classic.  While I’m sure that Cheryl can pull off anything, including being covered in pig’s blood, her family better watch out for sure since Cheryl is no stranger to making things in her way burn to the ground.  Stay tuned!  New episodes return on April 18th!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 13 episode 15: Film Noir

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 13 episode 15 last night, I feel like I just stepped out of a film noir from the 1940s.  While not set in black and white, the moody music in the background featuring jazzy trumpets and saxophones was a nice touch, almost bringing us back in time to see how Sam and Dean Winchester would manage to escape the mob.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “A Most Holy Man,” Sam and Dean begin their quest to find the first of the four needed ingredients to rescue their mom and Jack.  This takes them all over the country and they cross paths with several threats, but none of them are actually supernatural, which was very refreshing.  Either way, the mob ties and the numerous guns made the threat just as equally dangerous, as the two brothers seek the help of Father Lucca to obtain the skull of St. Peter.   My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 13 episode 15 are:

5

“The internet…not just for porn anymore.”

As Sam and Dean begin their research on where to start with finding the blood from a most holy man, Sam comes to the conclusion that it must mean the blood of a saint.  Not really knowing where to start, he turns to the internet for help and researches auctions of ancient religious relics, hoping to find somewhere to start.  While Dean is clearly impressed by the knowledge one can obtain from the internet, they set off to San Francisco to meet with someone who can hopefully point them in the right direction.

4

Dean learns a new word.

After Sam and Dean meet with a beautiful young woman who has a thing for Sam, she points them in the direction of a collector located in Seattle.  Surrounded by wealth, the man is not about to let go of the blood of a saint for no less than a small fortune.  After quickly judging Sam and Dean’s own worth by their suits and “cheap ties,” he decides to strike up a deal with them.  He explains that if they procure a certain item for him, he will be willing to make a trade.  He asks them if they are up for some “chicanery” and Dean carefully waits for Sam’s approval before moving forward with this, clearly not knowing what this word means.  After getting the nod from Sam, Dean is down for the “chicanery” and is eager to get started.  However, things get complicated and messy when Sam and Dean cross paths with the mob and are now working for them to obtain the skull for a finder’s fee.  While not ideal, Sam and Dean are not about to say no to the mob boss, who explains that “failure is not an option.”

3

“Look at you like a boy scout…always prepared.”

Even though there are no demons or angels around to get in the way of the Winchester brothers, they are still not having the easiest time locating the needed ingredient.  After tracking down their first lead to a hotel, Sam and Dean deal with a cop who clearly got his badge “out of a cereal box.”  While he goes to call back-up, Sam puts his Boy Scout skills to use to get them out of handcuffs so they can continue on their journey.  Sam has taken a lot of hits to the head recently too, which concerns Dean.  However, that doesn’t stop him from making a joke about how Sam has a head of “Disney princess hair” to protect him.

2

“Oh look, it’s your girlfriend.”

After agreeing to work with Father Lucca, a priest who has traveled from Malta to help bring back the stolen skull of St. Peter, Sam and Dean come up with a plan to get it back.  However, when Sam heads in to meet with the mob boss with a suitcase full of money, he is in for a surprise when the other buyers surface as well, including the man from Seattle and the young woman they first met with in San Francisco.  While no longer on pleasant terms, she still insists on wishing Sam luck, but he doesn’t have nearly enough cash to come out on top.  Luckily, Dean and Father Lucca are not far behind.

1

“1 down…3 to go.”

During the episode, it is clear that Sam and Dean understand the importance of obtaining the blood of a saint, however; they are blind to the “most holy man” right in front of them, Father Lucca.  Father Lucca has faith and understands the importance of doing what is right.  Dean initially doesn’t seem impressed when he discusses it with Sam:  “Friar Tuck over there…we don’t owe him anything.”  While this may be true, Sam realizes that they need to do what is right and help Father Lucca get the religious item back safe and sound.  They can deal with the aftermath later and figure out another way to get the blood of the saint, but they can’t deny a calling like this.  After they obtain the skull, the man from Seattle explains that there is no such thing as the blood of a saint to their disappointment.  When they are seeing Father Lucca off, he tells them what the pope called him which literally translates to “most holy man.”  It looks like doing the right thing paid off after all.  While it is important that they have successfully procured the first ingredient, perhaps Dean’s newly found faith is what is even more important.  New episodes of Supernatural return March 29thStay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural  below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 13: “Norman Bates made it look so easy.”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 13 last night, I have to admit that even I did not see some of these twists and turns unraveling.  While we will need to wait until early March for a new episode to air, let’s focus on what we know and what we still don’t know for today.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Twenty-Six:  The Tell-Tale Heart,” Betty goes down a dangerous path and makes the decision to help her mother and Chic clean up a mess that won’t make her guilt disappear along with it.  Archie makes the brave decision to stand up to Agent Adams and Veronica chooses to do the right thing, weighing it above her family loyalty.  Meanwhile, Cheryl refuses to let her mother ruin another family and Jughead decides to take on the big boss, Mr. Lodge to strike up a deal.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 13 are:

5

Jughead has a meeting with Mr. Lodge.

Jughead refuses to sit by quietly and enlists the help of his father, FP to sit down for negotiations with Mr. Lodge.  Veronica happily mediates the discussion which seems to be full of all of the niceties one would expect at a legitimate business meeting.  Mr. Lodge and the Jones family agree that they want peace in the land.  After Mr. Lodge offers to meet them half-way, Jughead refuses to keep his name out of the expose he is writing and tells him “no deal.”  FP is proud of his son and supports him completely.  It’s good to see the Jones family making the right decisions.  After all, making a deal with the devil deserves some much needed contemplation.

4

Cheryl does the right thing.

When Cheryl learns that her mother is having an affair with Hal Cooper, she argues that she is “destroying families with her courtesan ways.”  Her mother shocks her by telling her that it’s the real deal with Hal and she doesn’t even blink an eye at the thought of shattering Alice Cooper’s family.  Cheryl refuses to accept this especially after witnessing Betty sick to her stomach at school.  Assuming it must be directly related to her family breaking apart; Cheryl confronts Hal and warns him to stay away from her “harlot mother.”  Even though she offers to keep things quiet from Betty, Cheryl makes the decision to tell her what’s going on anyway because she feels it is the right thing to do.  It looks like Cheryl is finally going down the right path.  There doesn’t seem to be any ulterior motives here, but will her mother cross her once she finds out about her betrayal?

3

Veronica visits Mayor McCoy.

Even though Veronica has accepted her new role in the family business with open arms, it’s clear that she is not about to let her conscience be corrupted in the process.  When she finds out that her parents intend to blackmail Mayor McCoy with information on the affair she is having with Kevin’s dad, Veronica makes the brave the decision to tell the Mayor what is going on.  In an effort to protect her reputation, she admits to her what her parents know and Mayor McCoy asks “how much time do I have?”  She steps down from her position as Mayor and Veronica reminds her parents that she is no longer a threat and exposing her now would only be cruel.  Will her parents find out that she has put the Mayor over her responsibility to her family?  Will Veronica be able to get out of this with a clean conscience?  Time will tell but it’s great to see that she still has her morals intact.

2

Betty comes clean to Jughead.

While still withholding some very pertinent information from her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Jughead, Betty cannot keep her latest secret to herself.  In the beginning of the episode, “the lives of the Cooper women were forever changed,” as Betty decides to help her mother cover up the murder of the shady man who came to see Chic.  When Betty comes down for breakfast the next day, she is appalled that Chic and her mother are sitting there bright eyed and bushy tailed without any hint of remorse.  Her anger leaks out when she says “I don’t like chocolate chip pancakes” in disgust.  The doorbell rings and Betty shatters the plate in her hand, revealing her own guilt and nerves about what took place the night before.  She is unable to let her guilt go as she goes back to the body and takes the man’s phone, going through each number to provide her with some sense of truth or closure.  Betty learns that Chic is lying to the family as his info appears in the shady man’s phone, but Alice refuses to let Betty start a fight and divide the family.  Not knowing where else to turn, Betty confides in Jughead about what has taken place and they sink the shady man’s car that has been parked on Betty’s block for two days.  Not wanting for Betty to make the same mistake his family has, they bring in FP who helps dispose of the body and keeps their secret, understanding full well what a cover up can do to a family.  Even though everything seems to be safely hidden under the surface, we know that things don’t always stay buried for long.  Will someone come looking for the shady man?  What else is Chic keeping from the family?  How will Betty and Jughead cope with such a dark secret?

1

Archie meets “the boss.”

Archie is facing quite the dilemma when he has second thoughts about spying on the Lodge family.  He loves Veronica very much and feels awful about what Agent Adams is asking him to do.  Agent Adams pays his father a visit, reminding Archie what’s at stake here, but Archie holds his ground, risking everything to protect the Lodge family.  He goes to Mr. Lodge and tells him everything, putting all his cards on the table.  Later in the episode, Archie is escorted off to see “the boss.”  Not knowing what to expect, the car pulls up to a secluded spot to reveal Veronica’s mother, Hermione Lodge as the HBIC. She reveals to Archie that Agent Adams isn’t real and this was all a test.  Archie is completely shocked by this revelation.  Luckily for Archie, he made the right decision, but what else is the Lodge family capable of?  Now that he has been accepted into their family, what will they expect from him in return?  We will need to wait until March 7th 2018 for new episodes to air, but there are still a lot of mysteries to be solved.  Stay tuned to find out!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale below.  Happy viewing!

The 2018 Mid-Season TV Premieres I am most looking forward to: Bring on the new episodes!

Since I covered my favorite shows from 2017 for all networks in previous posts, I wanted to also explore the television premieres that have not yet aired yet.  The holidays are over and the New Year is quickly approaching, which will bring an end to re-runs and the return of new episodes from some of our favorite shows.  However, I am most looking forward to television shows that have not had an official premiere yet.  While some of these shows already have 2018 premiere dates announced, others are still giving out an “early 2018” vague response, as I desperately keep refreshing the internet to see when they will be returning.  Please note some spoilers are ahead if you have not caught up yet on previous seasons.  Without further delay, the 2018 Mid-season TV premieres I am most looking forward to in no particular order are:

The 100

The Affair

Homeland

Ash vs Evil Dead

Jessica Jones

The 100 ended on a major cliff-hanger last season and I am counting the days until I can see Clark and my other favorite characters from Sky Crew return.  Did “Praimfaya” destroy everything?  Who else has survived?  Will Clark and Bellamy finally get together or will we be forced to endure their unspoken tension between each other for another season?  The questions are endless and I need some serious answers as we move into the new season and this new future world.  Either way, I know that The 100 is up to the challenge and will provide fans with non-stop action and drama.

The Affair had me slightly confused on where it would go after the end of season 3.  While seasons 1 and 2 continued to unravel mysteries and kept audiences guessing who would end up with who, season 3 ended on a different note.  At the end of last season, Noah is left outside staring into his family’s house on Christmas.  They are all clearly happy and at peace and he gets back in the cab not knowing where to go next.  Does he go after Alison or somewhere completely new?  It is very open-ended, but I am looking forward to The Affair getting back to its roots.  Perhaps this means introducing some more new characters into the mix and saying goodbye to others, but the show still has a story left to tell and I’m ready for more.

Homeland is another show that left fans with a jam-packed finale, finally saying goodbye to a main character we have come to trust and rely on in previous seasons.  At the end of the season, Carrie had been shut out of the White House, which has us wondering what threats will she have to deal with next?  Will she be able to trust anyone?  What will happen to Saul?  The unanswered questions will soon be revealed, as the show is set to premiere in mid-February.

Ash vs Evil Dead is coming back in February as well.  After a long hiatus from season 2, I am looking forward to the return of “ashy slashy” and friends.  Our favorite characters were left celebrating in season 2 and it seems like life may return to normal, but we know that evil is lurking somewhere close.  Ash cannot put his chain-saw arm into retirement just yet.  What kind of demons will he face?  Will the gang be reunited?  While we are unsure of the threats and set-up, we know we can count on Ash for hilarious over-the-top humor and campy horror.

Jessica Jones is scheduled to return to Netflix in early March 2018 along with Jessica’s quick wit and jaded past.  After defeating her enemy, Kilgrave in season 1, will she be able to put her life back together again?  Is he truly gone and if so, who will she be facing in the upcoming season?  Will we find out more about her past and explore her super-powers further?  While I am not sure where we will be going in season 2, I am along for the ride.  Jessica Jones may not be a hero we typically think of in the spotlight, but her character is deep and complicated and she has a way of showing the bad guy who’s boss while remaining true to herself.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post the shows you are looking forward to premiering in 2018 in the comments below.  Happy viewing and the countdown to 2018 is here!
