Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 17: The Wait is Over!

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 17 last night, we learned that new alliances have been formed, which bring together former enemies and divide other families even further than Shakespeare could have thought even possible.  While the line between blood and loyalty has blurred almost into non-existence for some, others have put aside their selfish needs to do what is right for everyone.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty:  The Noose Tightens,” the car in Swedlow Swamp resurfaces, causing new enemies to come to town and pushing Alice to the breaking point.  Meanwhile, Betty wants a serpent tattoo, Archie continues to act first and think later, and Veronica and Toni team up to rescue Cheryl from the “Sisters of Quiet Mercy.”  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 17 are:

“No need to become the Montagues and Capulets just yet.”

It’s all out in the open now that Fred Andrews is running for mayor against Hermione Lodge and it’s about time someone took a stand to protect the town of Riverdale.  When the Andrews family comes face to face with the Lodge family, you can cut the tension with way more than a knife.  Veronica and Archie immediately detect that this is only going to get worse and Veronica tries to make light of it with some Shakespeare humor.  However, we all know that Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy and that the young lovers are the ones who get caught up in the cross fire.  Can the same be said for team Varchie?

Nothing stays hidden for long.

Alice is shocked to learn that the car belonging to the man Chic killed, Dwayne, has re-surfaced in Swedlow Swamp.  Alice sits down with FP, Jughead, and Betty to come up with a plan and FP reminds them of the importance of laying low and acting normal in the meantime.  However, Betty even admits that “normal is investigating when the world says they shouldn’t.”  Our favorite detective team, Bughead enlists the help of Kevin to get more information and is shocked to learn that the stolen car has been claimed by the owner.  Chic involves himself further than he should and contacts Darla who is the ex-girlfriend of Dwayne.  As if right on cue, Darla shows up at the Cooper house and tries to blackmail them for $10,000.  Alice is more than happy to give her the money and wipe her hands clean of this whole mess, but the drama isn’t over just yet.

“Who are you Archie?”

An excellent question from his mother and Archie should really take some time and look in the mirror to figure it out.  Archie continues to make the wrong decisions and is losing his temper more and more.  Archie even threatens some of Mr. Lodge’s criminal business associates without blinking an eye, which even has Mr. Lodge reminding him that he shouldn’t pick a fight he can’t finish.  After the Lodge family discovers that “Agent Adams” has double crossed them, they are not sure what the long term plan is.  The Lodge family is currently in danger, but Archie will stop at nothing to protect him.  Rather than show up to support his father announcing his intent to run for Mayor, Archie sets the “Dark Circle” loose on their enemies, which leads to him getting a thank you car from Mr. Lodge.  Archie is creating an even bigger divide between him and his family without realizing it, which has us wondering, is all of this really worth losing your soul over?  A Faustian deal comes to mind, especially when we can easily imagine Mr. Lodge as the devil, signing contracts in blood.  Will Archie be able to come back from this?  Will his family be able to forgive him?

Alice makes the right decision.

When Betty goes to retrieve the $10,000 from the bank, the man who was Chic’s “manager” shows up as well and it’s clear that the Cooper family is in a lot of trouble again because of Chic.  Luckily, the Serpent gang shows up as back-up to help them.  Darla and the manager leave for now with the cash, but it’s still very dangerous that they know more than they should.  After all, secrets never stay buried for long in Riverdale.  Alice is beyond grateful and makes an announcement to the Serpents that she is done attacking the South Side.  She makes the difficult decision to ask her son, Chic to leave since he has put her family in danger twice now and then shows up later on FP’s doorstep.  Are Alice and FP back together?  Will Chic really stay away?

Toni rescues Cheryl.

Fans were more than disappointed after the interrupted first kiss between Choni, but fear not, love is still blooming in the air.  Toni enlists the help of Veronica and Josie to help find Cheryl, as she knows that there is no way that she is being held in a boarding school, especially since her social media account has been dead silent.  The girls go and confront Mrs. Blossom who is armed and ready.  She tells them that Cheryl is mentally ill and even shows Josie the picture that Cheryl sketched not too long ago of the two of them, revealing that Cheryl was the one who was threatening and stalking her.  Josie is out, but Veronica and Toni are not about to completely abandon their friend.  Nana Rose makes the right call and tries to help Toni find Cheryl but is rudely interrupted by Uncle Claudius.  They then learn from Kevin that the “Sisters of Quiet Mercy” practice gay conversion therapy and that there is a secret tunnel that can lead them to Cheryl.  Toni and Veronica put on their fantastic spy-like outfits which have just the right amount of flair and break in.  Cheryl is stunned when she sees Toni and the two share a swoon-worthy kiss in front of the film screen.  The cheers for Choni should be deafening as this kiss was well worth the wait.  Veronica and Toni successfully rescue Cheryl who is surprisingly not broken from this ordeal.  Rather, she says that “revenge is a dish best served cold,” and informs Kevin that she is ready to take on the lead of the school play, which is none other than Carrie White from Stephen King’s classic.  While I’m sure that Cheryl can pull off anything, including being covered in pig’s blood, her family better watch out for sure since Cheryl is no stranger to making things in her way burn to the ground.  Stay tuned!  New episodes return on April 18th!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Mick” season 2 episode 19: “The Dance”

Happy Wednesday!  After watching Fox’s The Mick season 2 episode 19 last night, I think we have all learned a valuable lesson that “lying is complicated,” but we should never keep things from family.  Well…unless it involves stealing evidence from a police car or participating in Amateur night at a strip club.  Everything else is clearly off limits, however.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Dance,” Mickey is shocked when she finds out that Ben has been lying to her.  Meanwhile, Chip begins knocking out his competition so that he can become the “Formal Prince,” Sabrina asks Jimmy to teach her how to dance and Alba learns how to effectively use the word, “proverbial.”  My top 5 moments from The Mick season 2 episode 19 are:

Mickey refuses to respect the authority of the police.

While Mickey is waiting in the principal’s office, a police officer walks in with a backpack full of evidence.  She tells the principal that he better be a stripper, but he quickly explains that he is there for another student matter.  Ben is very excited to meet the police officer, however; and even asks Mickey if he can go in his car to play with the siren.  Mickey allows it but reminds him that he’ll be getting “bacon grease all over his hands” in the process.  After Mickey leaves the school, it seems like she may have had a change of heart when she tells the police offer that she’s “got something for him.”  Only it’s a Granny Smith apple to put in his mouth and she tells him she’ll be back in a while to flip him over.

“Proverbial.”

Mickey is beyond upset when she discovers that Ben has been lying to her and she confides in Alba about it.  She begins explaining the situation and comparing it to “proverbial coke” and Alba thinks that she literally has coke with her and asks if proverbial means that it’s “primo.”  She later tries to work the word into her vocabulary when they bake Ben a cake and she tells him that it is “proverbial.”

Chip wants to be crowned the “Formal Prince” at the school dance.

Chip reveals his master plan that he is picking off his competition one by one so that no one will be left in the running to take the crown away from him.  While it’s clear that his priorities may be slightly skewed, one can only admire how far Chip is willing to go.  He explains that winning the crown will lead to him ending up with his crush, Madison and that “she’ll be trapped with him all night.”  Mickey says, “Don’t say trapped,” and Chip seamlessly changes it up by saying that she “won’t be able to escape.”  Chip is clearly working on losing that creepy vibe for sure and even seems to make a friend in the process after screeching like a girl when he gets hit by a ball.  When he tells Emily about his plan, she takes his advice with the princess race and they ultimately are crowned prince and princess.  Another one of Chip’s plans back-fired, but at least he gets a crown for all of his trouble.

Jimmy teaches Sabrina how to dance.

Mickey walks in on Sabrina’s attempt to dance in front of the mirror and is beyond amused.  After taking a break from laughing so hard, she explains that Jimmy’s mom was a choreographer for the Ice Capades and that he can really help her learn to dance if it’s that important to her.  Sabrina takes her advice and seeks out Jimmy’s help.  Before saying yes, Jimmy says, “Let’s talk facts…why?”  Sabrina finally caves in and explains that she wants to do something that no one sees coming and take the power back.  Jimmy discreetly hands Sabrina a piece of napkin with a location and a time written on it and warns her not to be late.  After making her wait outside for half the day to test her commitment, he is ready to get to work and tells her, “I guess we better stop bitching and start dancing.”  They begin intense training sessions that actually seem to be working.  Jimmy explains that the key is to “bring her soul to the surface” and to turn “embers” into a “brush fire.”  Well it seems like the internal fire is blazing because pretty soon Sabrina is twirling and shimmying like a pro and even learns how to work a chair into her routine if necessary.  Jimmy feels that he has made a difference but quickly realizes that Sabrina learned how to dance to go to Amateur Night at a strip club.  Jimmy rushes in to prevent her from making a huge mistake and even punches the manager, Chip’s real father, in the process to be heroic.  Once he hears that the grand prize is $2500, Jimmy quickly changes his tune and Sabrina splits the cash with him to thank him.  It looks like the only thing left to do is to lie to Mickey and have some ice cream to celebrate.  Only the ice cream part is canceled when Jimmy can’t get his car to start.

“Lying is complicated.”

After Mickey finds the stolen golden apple in Ben’s room, she realizes that he has lied to her and she is beyond upset.  She tries to rationalize that there must be some explanation and decides to try and give Ben the chance to come clean.  After he fails several tests, Mickey and Alba step it up a notch when they burst into Ben’s room and tell him that the cops are on their way to arrest him and bring him to a jail in Mexico.  Ben screams out in horror, “Please don’t make me go I don’t want to be Mexican!”  Mickey and Alba reveal that this was all a trick to get him to tell the truth.  Ben tells him about everything he has done wrong that day and it seems like he has learned a valuable lesson about lying.  However, when he shows Mickey that he stole the backpack out of the police car which has evidence and a loaded gun, Mickey throws this advice out the window and screams, “I said lie!”  Mickey and Alba panic about what to do next and Mickey shoots herself in the leg accidentally causing an even bigger moment of mayhem.  It doesn’t seem like the situation can get any worse until Chip accidentally takes the stolen bag to the dance.  Mickey goes after him and is not about to turn away empty handed.  She even tackles Chip to the floor and bites his ankle so that he will let go of the bag.  When the principal shows up to find out what all of the fuss is about, Ben saves the day and comes clean by giving him back the golden apple and telling him that he kept the truth from everyone.  Ben’s confession proves to the principal that he is trying to be good and make amends.  At the end of the day, Mickey explains that they shouldn’t hide anything from each other.  However, then each family member proceeds to lie to one another at the kitchen table about what they did the night before.  After all, “lying is complicated.”

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Ash vs Evil Dead” season 3 episode 5: “El Brujo Especial”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Starz’s Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 episode 5 last night, I think it’s sometimes necessary to find your destiny by closing your eyes and trusting your instincts.  Although this decision seems pretty important when it involves ensuring you choose good over evil with no do-overs.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Baby Proof,” Kelly and Brandy continue to get attacked by demon Pablo, which causes Pablo’s spirit to enter into another realm.  Meanwhile, Ash makes the connection that the evil baby is his son and tries to give him a time out that ends in one of them being stuffed into a trunk.  My top 5 moments from Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 episode 5 are:

“Don’t make me get my leg waxed.” 

Kelly and Brandy are still under attack from demon Pablo and Kelly quickly learns that the miniature Pablo torturing her wound is connected to the demon Pablo.  She strategically uses fire to severely hurt Pablo and screams out “hot tamale!”  While it seems like this can hold him off temporarily, Brandy takes matters into her own hands when she stabs Pablo to Kelly’s horror.  While Pablo does not die, Kelly does not want to face a world without him.  At the end of the episode, Kelly says that she is “done being fucked with,” and decides to go after Ruby herself.  While Kelly is not one to be messed with, is she any match for Ruby?

“You keep your hands off of my boomstick.”

In case you are not familiar, the “boomstick” is Ash’s shotgun which he has used in Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness.  It rarely leaves Ash’s side and when Heidi attempts to use it to attack the demon baby, Ash has to put her in check.  She clearly does not understand the history and sentimental value of this weapon, but we sure do!

Pablo becomes “El Brujo Especial.”

After Brandy stabs Pablo, Pablo’s spirit wakes up in a void between realms and he comes face to face with the naked lady who we now know is named Maritza, along with his dead uncle.  Pablo has brought the Kandarian dagger and his uncle explains that he can now become “El Brujo Especial,” which Pablo innocently confuses with the name of a beer.  The task is not an easy one, however; as Pablo must choose between darkness and light.  Pablo trusts his instincts and says he’s got this and successfully chooses the right path.  When he wakes up, Kelly is so happy to see him and kisses him, which leads to a very interesting reaction on Pablo’s part, “where’s Ash?”  Pablo has embraced his new destiny and knows that he needs to help Ash with his fight against evil.  It’s great to have Pablo back, but what powers and responsibilities come along with being “El Brujo Especial?”  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but perhaps Ruby is not the most powerful one of all anymore.

“Here I come!”

After seeing that the baby demon has a miniature chainsaw arm, Ash quickly puts two and two together and realizes that this must be his son.  “That’s a little me!”  While the baby demon has got the smiling and giggling down pat, his idea of fun and games is a little bit more than Ash can handle.  Each time the baby yells out “Here I come,” a duck toy with a beyond creepy laugh almost surrounds them.  As a side note, I’m still having nightmares about this duck.  In a panic, Heidi destroys the ducky toy which was a big mistake, causing her to lose her life and her head…not sure where that went.  The baby demon takes things to the next level by playing a game of hide and seek like no other, as he literally crawls into the body of dead Heidi using different body orifices, which will have your skin crawling.  Ash tries to tell him that he is “way too young to be going up there” but the baby demon refuses to listen, leaving Ash with only one choice:  to utilize a bowling ball to plug up one orifice to trap “Tiny Tim” there until he can get to the bottom of this.

Brandy makes the right decision.

After surviving the attack from demon Pablo, Brandy is still not sure what to believe.  Ash and Ruby both show up trying to get her to come with them and even after Ash reveals that he has the baby demon, which now looks like an ordinary baby, locked up in his trunk, she makes the right call.  Brandy trusts her gut and goes with Ash.  Ash is more than pleased and says, “This is the first time you ever called me Dad,” which at least gives him hope and a future with one of his children.  Now that Brandy has chosen her father over Ruby, will she be in even more danger?  While it seems likely, it looks like Ash is building up quite the miniature army against Ruby, but will it be enough to stop her for good?

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 14: “The Girl in the Tower”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 14 last night, the words of Lewis Carroll seem more than appropriate, reminding us that all the best people are mad and I completely agree.  One can really sympathize with Tilly/Alice who feels invisible in the world around her, desperately trying to find someone to connect to.  Whether it be to Nook or an unconventional silent friend, Tilly/Alice is hanging on by a thread and desperately needs someone to believe in her.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Girl in the Tower,” we learn how Alice is able to break free from the tower with the help of a giant troll and we see the first time that she meets Robin.  Meanwhile, Rogers/Nook puts everything on the line to help Tilly, Ivy/Drizella takes off to find her sister, Regina and Lucy put “operation hyacinth” into motion, and Zelena tries to find out what her sister is hiding.  My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 14 are:

Ivy/Drizella goes to find Ana.

While it appears that Ivy/Drizella is finally trying to do the right thing, no one said that this would be an easy task.  Ivy/Drizella is learning that and realizes she needs to go and find her sister, Anastasia on her own and continue to make amends.  She confides to Henry that she wishes she had met him before and maybe she would have made better choices as a result.  While Ivy/Drizella cannot go back and change the path she took, it’s not too late for her to break off into a new one that could lead her to good.  However, after seeing the preview for next week’s episode, it looks like she may not be ready to help Regina, so is this goodness short-lived?

“Nobin” and “Tower Girl.”

While we know that there is a romance between Alice and Robin at some point in time, we get a glimpse into their very own “meet cute.”  Robin points an arrow at Alice, who is spying on her father, Nook from afar.  After Robin reveals the reasoning behind Nook’s new nickname, Alice playfully suggests that they call her “Nobin.”  “Yea don’t call me that,” Robin says, clearly not a fan of her new nickname.  In return, she calls Alice “Tower Girl,” and the two head off to find the troll that is destroying villages.  Alice tries to defend the troll and explains that he is her friend, but Robin is determined to prove that she can live up to the legend of her father.

“Sometimes you just have to look up and face your problems.”

After getting captured, Robin escapes to go kill the troll and Alice follows quickly behind, proving that she can improvise with a hairpin as well.  Just as Robin is about to take the shot, Alice intervenes to protect her friend.  Robin turns on the men she came there with and explains that she would “rather be a troll lover than fight beside a bully like you.”  Robin makes the right call and chooses friendship over pride.  The famous “yellow bug” car makes a cameo appearance as well, bringing fans back to the days of Emma Swan.  Robin and Alice try and stop the troll and Alice realizes that she created him during her loneliness.  She is able to successfully turn him back into a statue, now understanding what true freedom means.  Robin has now returned to Hyperion Heights in present day and she meets Tilly who is in desperate need of some advice.  Robin tells her that “sometimes you just have to look up and face your problems,” before revealing that she is reading “Alice in Wonderland,” which is her favorite book.  Tilly takes her advice literally and realizes that the troll statue has a camera hidden in his eye, providing her with the alibi she needed to prove her innocence.

Rogers/Nook tries to help Tilly/Alice.

After last week’s episode, it seemed like Nook would never be able to see the blaring clue right in front of him that Tilly/Alice is his daughter.  While he still has not realized this, Rogers/Nook finally makes the right decision and tries to help Tilly.  He hides her out at Henry’s apartment and tells her, “I believe you now.”  Even after Tilly discovers that no one in the town remembers her and the pieces of hair show up in her backpack, Rogers/Nook does not abandon her.  He continues to help her and at the end of the episode, he asks Tilly to stay with him, which is beyond heart-warming.

Step 1 of “Operation Hyacinth.”

While Lucy doesn’t seem thrilled about the idea of “walky-talkies,” she is ready to go to work and help Regina find out what Doctor Facilier is doing in town.  Initially, Regina keeps this from Zelena, however; and takes Doctor Facilier on a decoy date while Lucy breaks in to see what she can find.  Zelena interrupts the date and asks her sister why she is lying to her.  Regina explains what is going on and tries to warn Lucy who is able to get out in just the nick of time, but not before finding the tarot cards revealing the death card.  Doctor Facilier proves that he is not easily fooled and drops by Regina’s place with Lucy’s hat.  He tells her that he is here for The Dark One’s dagger and shows Regina her own fortune cards, revealing that love is still a possibility for her.  But at what cost?  Regina finally tells Zelena everything, including about her feelings for Doctor Facilier.  When Robin comes in to see her mother, Zelena hates that they have to lie to her and Regina tells her, “welcome to the club sis.”  While Regina was able to get some important information out of Doctor Facilier, is he being completely truthful with her?  Will Regina tell Rumpel what is going on?  Stay tuned to find out!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 16: “Primary Colors”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 16 last night, it seems like everyone is running in different directions, whether it be a path toward the truth or one to chase away nightmares.  Either way, Jughead got it absolutely right when he talked about two trains on the same track going in opposite directions, destined to collide.  The question now becomes, who is going to derail first?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Twenty-Nine:  Primary Colors,” Veronica makes the bold decision to run for class president and asks Betty to be her running mate.  Meanwhile, Jughead goes on a hunger strike to make a point to Mr. Lodge, Archie’s mother returns to town, Andy Cohen shows his support for Hermione Lodge, and Cheryl hosts a sleepover party that ends in disaster.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 16 are:

“Take deep breaths, keep smiling, and turn the other cheek.”

Now that Hermione Lodge has announced she is running for mayor, the Lodge family was forced to show their poker hand early and reveal that they are planning on opening up a for profit prison.  The town of Riverdale is not so pleased with this announcement and many of the kids at school are taking it out on Veronica as a result.  Her parents discuss the importance of maintaining a low profile, but it’s hard to oblige when Ethel Muggs is pouring a strawberry milkshake over your head in front of the entire cafeteria.  Surprisingly, Veronica handles this embarrassment with grace and shrugs it off.  She is not able to keep her composure, however; when Reggie confronts her in the hallway.  While Veronica is able to successfully take a deep breath and smile, she refuses to turn the other cheek in this situation and punches Reggie in the face.  A satisfying moment for sure, but it gives Veronica the wrong type of press and her family is outraged by her behavior.  They remind her that they need her to be a “good obedient little girl,” but will Veronica comply?

A cupcake and a kiss.

Veronica fails to listen to her family and decides to run for class president rather than lay low.  “As the Thelma to her Louise,” Veronica naturally asks Betty to be her running mate and it seems like they have a great campaign going.  Veronica even provides everyone with a cupcake and a kiss to associate them with something sweet.  Unfortunately, everything goes more than sour after Veronica mistakenly trusts Josie with a celebrity endorsement.  While Josie appears to be on board with this, she secretly goes to Ethel and provides her with intel on Veronica, revealing that she knew about her family’s plans to turn South Side High School into a prison.  A harmless concert goes horribly wrong when Ethel hands out flyers with all of this information; causing everyone to turn against Veronica…including Betty, who tells her that she can no longer be her running mate as a result.  Will Veronica be able to earn everyone’s trust again?  Unfortunately it looks like she will need to make a very difficult decision between her family and her friends to do so.

Cheryl’s fears become a reality.

Cheryl has been having nightmares and hallucinations ever since she overheard her mother’s plan to get rid of her and Nana Rose.  She decides to hold a sleep over party with her “inner circle and cousin Betty” to distract herself, but it’s really to confide in them about what’s going on.  Everyone is not really sure what to make of Cheryl’s fears, but Betty steps up and tells her that she feels like strangers are lurking behind every corner at her house too and empathizes with her.  Cheryl is beyond terrified and gets even closer to Toni.  Choni is about to share their first kiss, only they are interrupted suddenly.  Nana Rose has fallen badly and is rushed to the hospital, but Cheryl knows deep down that this cannot be an accident.  She is convinced that Uncle Claudius and her mother pushed Nana down the stairs but doesn’t have any proof.  Her mother intervenes when she tries to talk to the doctor and takes her into the car ominously saying that they will “make her all better.”  Noticing Cheryl’s disappearance, Toni shows up at the Blossom house to find her, but her mother mechanically tells her that she is out of the country at boarding school.  Toni knows this cannot be true, but the door slams in her face before she can get in another word.  The end of the episode reveals Cheryl locked away in some type of mental institution, her hair done up in pigtails, as if to bring her back to some sort of childhood state away from the rest of the world.  Will Toni be able to rescue her?  Why is Uncle Claudius wearing his dead brother’s pajamas?  It looks like the Blossom family is not done with secrets and deception just yet, but we will have to stay tuned to find out more.

“You know nothing about my darkness…but you will.”

After Betty confronts Chic about the DNA results, Alice explains that Chic doesn’t have any trace of Blossom blood because Hal is not his father.  While it seems like a reasonable explanation, Betty is still not buying Chic’s act and is determined to get to the bottom of this and protect her family.  Betty is outraged when she finds Kevin over at her house who told Chic about her “catfishing scheme,” and sold her out in the process.  Betty warns Chic to stay away from her friends and threatens him with a lighter right over his face, reminding him that she “catches bad men” and for him to “consider himself warned.”  Chic does not listen to her threat, however; and goes behind Betty’s back and tells Alice what she did.  He then shows Alice Betty’s role play wig, revealing that her and Jughead have taken their relationship to the next level.  Alice is shocked by this information but has a heart-to-heart talk with Betty later on and confides to her about her past relationship with FP.  While she rules FP out as Chic’s father, it begs the question, who is his real father?  Betty tells Chic that she wants a truce for their mother’s sake, but it’s clear that she is not giving up anytime soon.  Go Betty!

Archie vs Jughead.

Jughead makes the brave decision to go on a hunger strike to continue his stand against Mr. Lodge and the destruction of South Side High School.  While Betty supports him on this, Archie is having conflicted feelings yet again.  Jughead tells Archie that they are like “two trains running on the same track in opposite directions, destined to collide” and he is absolutely right.  Jughead clearly gets Mr. Lodge’s attention and asks the serpents, “Who is ready to go to war?”  They make the decision to chain themselves to South Side High School creating a lot of publicity in the process.  Archie’s mother returns to Riverdale and is appalled by Archie’s behavior.  She tells him that he needs to respect his father who has always done everything the right way to support him and cannot get over his allegiance to the Lodge Family.  Mr. Lodge steps things up when he tells Archie to take force against Jughead.  Archie clearly does not want to hurt his best friend, but Mr. Lodge ominously reminds him about the consequences of breaking an oath.  Archie takes this opportunity to ask for a favor in return and Mr. Lodge agrees to let his father out of his contract.  This leads to Fred announcing that he will run for mayor against the Lodge Family, which will clearly cause even more drama.  While Archie is trying to protect his family with his decision, he cuts Jughead’s chains, creating a rift that could shake the entire town.  Jughead refuses to fight him and reminds Archie that there are cameras all around, capturing exactly what he is doing.  In Jughead’s mind he is winning the good fight, but it looks like he is losing his best friend in the process.  He makes the brave decision to run for class president and wants Betty to be his co-president.  The collision is becoming all too real now, as Archie and Jughead become that much more divided.  Who will wind up victorious?  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Mick” season 2 episode 18: “The Car”

Happy Wednesday!  After watching Fox’s The Mick season 2 episode 18 last night, I think it’s important to be able to use your street smarts and common sense if you are in a jam that you didn’t expect.  Whether you turn it into a game of football or even fishing, it’s sometimes necessary to think outside the box and use your head…literally in Mickey’s case, rather than wait for someone else to save the day.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Car” Mickey has had it with everyone being more involved with the internet than the real world and is determined to prove that a real life experience is much more rewarding.   Meanwhile, Jimmy buys a used cop car and meets a new friend from the future, Chip tries to embrace the false online persona he created to get closer to Sabrina’s friend, and Alba turns the tables on them out of boredom and love for the drama.  My top 5 moments from The Mick season 2 episode 18 are:

Mickey doesn’t like the internet.

In the beginning of the episode, Mickey is beyond frustrated when all of the kids are paying more attention to their phones than what is going on around them.  Mickey explains that she prefers the real world and “God forbid we have a human interaction.”  The kids mindlessly nod to her, clearly not paying any attention.  Mickey says, “Put your phones down.  Have an experience!”  When these motivational words don’t really make a dent, she is determined to go out and have an experience of her own.  She takes Ben along for the ride as well, hoping to change the mind of at least one kid.

Jimmy’s adventure.

Jimmy makes the impulsive decision to purchase a used cop car and it seems like he is living the dream, riding through the countryside with Mickey by his side and Ben locked in the back.  Mickey is not as thrilled, especially with all of the bullet holes decorating the windshields, but Jimmy insists that the car is built like a tank.  After he tries to convince her to take it for a ride herself, they go to switch seats and end up locking themselves out of the car with poor Ben in the back seat.  Trying not to panic, Mickey comes up with ways to get inside without alarming Ben, which include all sorts of smashing.  Jimmy tries to explain that they will be better off with a hanger and Mickey calmly asks, “It’s built like a tank but you can get into it with a coat hanger?”  Jimmy decides to go into town to fix the problem and save the day but becomes exhausted from the heat.  A stranger named Gary picks him up and Jimmy wakes up not knowing where he is, but completely fascinated with the smart car he is in.  At the end of the night, Jimmy says “thanks for the ride Morpheus.  Good luck in the future.”  Too bad he couldn’t predict that he would arrive hours too late after Mickey and Ben had already “saved the day.”

Chip pretends to be a fake online persona to get closer to Sabrina’s friend.

Sabrina seems thrilled to meet up with this guy she has been talking to online named Marcus, who is a tattoo artist.  Mickey is baffled by her lack of good judgment on this and asks, “are you sure he’s not a sick new murderer coming over to turn your skin into a cape?”  Sabrina doesn’t heed her warning, and Mickey gives up and tells her to have fun getting “chopped to bits by some nerd pervert.”  Chip later reveals to Alba that he is the one who created the online persona, Marcus in an effort to get closer to Sabrina’s friend, Holly.  His back story is beyond detailed and he even plans out his death from aids to explain his disappearance when the time calls for it.  “Creepy,” as Alba pointed out.

“It was hot.  I was bored.  I like drama.”

After learning about Chip’s fake online persona, Alba sees an opportunity in front of her that she just can’t ignore.  She tells Chip to give her $200 and she will help him with his plan so that he can “get the girl and get away clean.”  Chip takes the bait, not realizing that Alba has also approached Sabrina.  Sabrina explains that she knows the online persona is Chip and Alba explains that she will help her with her own plan to embarrass him in front of her friend, Holly if she pays her $200.  Alba is now successfully working both sides, carefully planning each detail with care.  Sabrina invites her friend, Holly over and Chip is chatting away with her when the doorbell rings.  In walks Marcus, who fits the online persona description to a T.  Chip is beyond confused and Alba explains that she hired a prostitute she found online to pretend to be Marcus.  Once everything is out in the open, Sabrina and Chip realize that they were both played by Alba and ask her why she did this.  She gives the perfect answer too when she merely explains that “it was hot.  I was bored.  I like drama.”  Go Alba!

Mickey saves the day…repeatedly.

After Ben gets locked in the cop car and Jimmy runs into town, Mickey realizes that it is up to her to save the day.  Her plan backfires, however; when she tries to smash a rock against the trunk of the car, which bounces back and hits her right in the face.  Even though her face is now gushing with blood, Mickey doesn’t give up here.  She begins smashing a piece of wood against the car repeatedly, screaming in complete frustration.  When this doesn’t work, she collapses to the ground and begins smacking her head against the trunk, which causes it to pop open.  It seems like everything is going to work out just fine, until the trunk closes and traps Mickey inside.  Mickey then rips through the back seat to get to Ben, but gets stuck in the process.  After a failed attempt to pull her out of there, she explains to Ben that they will need to play a new game which involves fishing.  Only the fishing rod is from her bra wire that Ben will need to help her retrieve with his eyes closed.  Ben is able to successfully use the wire to push the car into a different gear, only the car now begins to roll backwards to Mickey’s horror.  Mickey tries to calmly ask Ben to tell her what he sees and she panics when he says a pond.  Luckily, they are both OK and Mickey shouts in victory, “I saved us again!”   When asked how the real world was, Mickey refuses to admit that her real life experience did not turn out the way she originally planned.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Ash vs Evil Dead” season 3 episode 4: No Boys Allowed

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Starz’s Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 episode 4 last night, I think it’s about time that Brandy bonded with someone other than Ash, her dead grandpa, or the queen of hell.  After all, this poor girl needs a break.  While Kelly is an excellent choice for this, it’s clear that they will not be braiding each other’s hair anytime soon.  Rather, they will need to team up to keep the forces of evil from ripping them to shreds.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Unfinished Business,” Ash’s dad returns from the dead…again, but this time there are some good intentions behind it.  Meanwhile, Kelly and Brandy get attacked by a demon Pablo, Ruby learns that the Knights of Sumeria have surfaced again, and Ash finds out about the lost pages from “The Book of the Dead” before stumbling upon an unexpected bundle of…well maybe not joy.  My top 5 moments from Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 episode 4 are:

Ash’s dad is back…again.

After using his chainsaw to rip his already dead dad to pieces in front of poor Brandy, Ash’s dad returns again, but this time as a ghost.  Ash is more tolerable this time since the ghost is not influenced by Ruby and tells his dad “it’s nice to see you even though I’m looking through you.”  Ash’s dad always wanted to be a ghost and it looks like his dream has finally come true.  He reveals that he has returned to show Ash something important and proceeds to take him on a journey to his past memories.  Ash seems confused at first and his dad comically asks, “haven’t you seen It’s a Wonderful Life?”  While the memory reveals that his dad had the best intentions to protect Ash from harm, it shows him something even more important:  a Knight of Sumeria who possessed the lost pages of “The Book of the Dead,” which could be the key to Ash destroying all evil.

Ruby tries to get Dalton to talk.

Ruby is not pleased to learn that the Knights of Sumeria have re-surfaced and immediately recognizes the threat that they could bring.  She tracks down Dalton who is a deadite now and temporarily pushes away the evil so that she can get information from him.  Ruby demands to know where the rift is that contains the lost pages, but Dalton is not about to betray his calling or his friends.  He lets her know that they have the Kandarian dagger and will use it against her, right before blowing off his own head in a valiant, but really gruesome way to protect his friends.  Farewell new guy.

“If you’re a deadite I’m in no fucking mood.”

Kelly proves once again why she is so bad-ass and amazing when she comes across Brandy, who is in desperate need of some female guidance.  After Brandy begins to whine about everything that has happened, Kelly cuts her off and says “hold up Daria.”  Kelly provides Brandy with a much needed reality check and tries to set her straight on Ash and Ruby.  While Kelly is a little rough around the edges at first, she does confide in Brandy about her own loss and tries to help her through it.  Unfortunately their female bonding is cut short when a demon Pablo jumps on the truck to attack them.  What’s the perfect background music for this violent attack?  You guessed it…Air Supply’s “All Out Of Love,” which really sets the mood for some serious ass-kicking.  Brandy and Kelly lock themselves up in Ash’s trailer, but Pablo continues to try and get in to retrieve the Kandarian dagger.  Pablo will stop at nothing to get in, which includes trying to wedge his way through Kelly’s open gash on her leg.  Talk about thinking outside of the box.

Ash learns about the lost pages from “The Book of the Dead.”

After re-visiting the past with his ghost dad, Ash decides that they need to return to the hardware cellar in present time to see if the lost pages are still there.  They discover a corpse that has been down there for way too long surrounded by empty cans of spam.  Ash’s ghost dad seems displeased by this, but Ash tries to remind him that the Knight of Sumeria was literally trying to survive since his dad locked him in a basement.  Ash comes across some type of hidden portal or rift in the wall and even sees Brandy’s friend Rachel.  While Ash desperately tries to put the pieces together, he gets attacked through the rift and has to put his chainsaw to work.  Ash’s dad has served his purpose and somewhat attempts to have a heart-to-heart moment with his son when he tells him that he will be a good father.  However, this moment is short-lived when Ash questions it and he admits “well not really.”  Either way, it appears that his dad has proven to be quite helpful, revealing the lost pages to Ash that could ultimately save the day.

Ash comes face to face with his demon offspring.

Ash tries to bring the fight right to Ruby and is surprised to find a woman chained up singing a lullaby in overwhelming fear.  Ash comes face to face with his demon offspring, although he doesn’t realize this just yet.  The woman begins to freak out and Ash tries to calm her down by telling her that he’s just sucking his thumb.  He quickly realizes that he is sucking someone else’s thumb and says, “ok that’s a choking hazard.”  Ash tries to get the woman out of there and tells her that he’s dealt with kids like this before just as the demon baby opens his mouth full of razor sharp teeth and the lights go out.  Even Ash is out of ideas here when he asks “what’s Norway for up shit creek?”  Will Ash be able to escape unharmed?  Is there still hope for Pablo?  Stay tuned for some more Ashy Slashy fun!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 13: “Operation Hyacinth”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 13 last night, it’s true that love can be blind in more ways than one.  In an effort to help others and find the killer, “Nook” ignores the very person who needs his help the most…his daughter.  While it’s clear that “Nook” will need to follow his heart to get to the truth, perhaps he needs to open his eyes as well to the girl who has been practically pleading with him for help.  But will it be too late once he figures it out?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Knightfall,” we learn more about Alice growing up locked in the tower and sympathize with Nook’s desire to help her, which even causes him to turn to one of his greatest enemies to do so.  Meanwhile, Ivy/Drizella tries to pick up the pieces and truly change for the better, Henry leans on Regina’s shoulder for some guidance, and Lucy finally goes to see the one person who can help her save her father.  My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 13 are:

“The calm before the storm.”

In the beginning of the episode, we learn more about Alice’s childhood and get a glimpse into her loving relationship with her father, “Nook.”  Mother Gothel’s curse prevents Alice from leaving the tower, but “Nook” is not about to give up without trying.  We learn that Alice is the one who created his beloved painting and they exchange their chess pieces before “Nook” goes off to find a way to save her.  “Nook” refers to his daughter as “my little rook” and tells her that she is “the bravest girl he knows.”  One cannot help but sympathize with “Nook,” who wants nothing more than to free his daughter from this magical prison.  As a result, he turns to one of his greatest enemies, Rumpel and is ready to “make a deal.”  While we know that we cannot trust the outcomes of Rumpel’s deals, “Nook” has no other choice but to try and see it through, not knowing where else to turn.

“I think it’s time we had a little talk.”

In present time, Nook/Rogers and Rumpel are trying to figure out who the killer is and what he or she wants with these witches before someone else is harmed.  Mother Gothel/Eloise shows up with beyond perfect timing and is willing to help them as long as she can talk to Nook/Rogers alone.  Rumpel begrudgingly agrees but is never too far away, as he has the camera working at all times to ensure he doesn’t miss anything.  While it’s clear that Mother Gothel/Eloise cannot be trusted, she seems very much invested in trying to get Nook/Rogers to realize who he is.  But what does she get out of this in return?  While we don’t know her true intentions just yet, she is playing the part for now and seems somewhat willing to help them stop the killer.

“You will fail her again and again.”

After striking up a deal with Rumpel, “Nook” learns that he needs to retrieve “Maui’s Fish Hook,” bringing the Moana story-line into the mix.  “Nook” quickly learns that another pirate possesses the magical weapon, Captain Ahab who is from Melville’s classic tale, Moby Dick.  Captain Ahab clearly doesn’t seem willing to part with the weapon and “Nook” warns that “it’s a dangerous thing to call me old man.”  After gambling to win the magical object, Captain Ahab is not about to leave without getting to the bottom of this.  He follows “Nook” and realizes that he had no intention of killing Rumpel aka “The Dark One.”  Nook’s pride gets in his way as the two participate in a pistol duel that determines “Nook” to be the winner but not without a consequence in the process.  Mother Gothel anticipated that Nook’s pride would get in the way of his true mission and poisoned the bullet he was struck by, which created the magical curse that causes him great pain whenever Alice is near.  “Nook” doesn’t want to believe that he will “fail her again and again” as Mother Gothel suggests, but in present day, he is currently failing to see the cries of help from Tilly.  What is it going to take to wake “Nook” up so he can help his daughter in present time?  Will his pride continue to get in the way?  It seems like Mother Gothel is banking on this, but “Nook” still has time to follow his heart and put his pride aside to help Tilly.

“I think you could be the hero I need.”

After her mother, Victoria’s death, Ivy/Drizella is left alone to pick up the pieces.  Henry goes to visit her when she is cleaning out her mother’s office and Ivy/Drizella tries to make romantic advances toward him to deal with her grief.  Henry gently turns her down, but offers to still help her.  Ivy really is a “wounded bird” at this point in time, not knowing what to do with her life.  She finally realizes that her mother loved her all along and Henry suggests that she now try to make connections and amends with the rest of her family, which seems like a good starting point.  After having a heart-to-heart conversation with Jacinda that ends in a believable hug, Ivy/Drizella is ready to “be the best person she can be.”  The next step is to find her sister, Anastasia and Ivy/Drizella needs Henry’s help to do so.  Has Ivy really turned over a new leaf?  I’m hoping so, as we could really use her help to balance out the forces of good and evil.

“Operation Hyacinth.”

Just when it seemed like Henry and Jacinda were ready to share true love’s kiss, Lucy intervened when she found the page of the fairy-tale book that revealed that Henry would die if this were to happen.  Lucy now tells her mother that she no longer wants her to see Henry, which is clearly breaking her heart.  At the end of the episode, Lucy turns to the only person who can help her…Regina.  She tells Regina what is going on and shows her the page, learning that Regina is awake.  Regina is happy to help and tells her that when you save people, that “makes you a Mills.”  “Operation Hyacinth” is on and Regina and Lucy are ready to help give Henry and Jacinda the happy ending they deserve.  It’s about time!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 15: “There Will Be Blood”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 15 last night, I am pondering whether or not blood really is thicker than water?  On the surface, it seems like familial bonds are the strongest there are, but it’s more than just sharing blood.  It’s about love, trust, and unconditional support.  While some characters manipulate the need for this bond to get what they want, others go in a completely different direction and swear allegiance to what could be their greatest enemy in an attempt to do the right thing.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Twenty-Eight:  There Will Be Blood,” Jughead gets closer and closer to finding out the truth, tracking down every lead he comes across.  Meanwhile, Betty enlists Kevin to help her find out what Chic is hiding, Hal wants a divorce, and a secret will from Mr. Blossom brings new and familiar faces to town.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 15 are:

Cheryl and Toni continue to bond.

Choni is back for this episode and it’s about time Cheryl has someone in her corner.  When Cheryl learns about the secret will, she invites Toni to attend the reading and even helps her try on some of her clothes.  Cheryl’s mother is clearly not happy with her presence, but Cheryl is not about to let her ruin this.  Toni points out that Cheryl’s mother “is a nightmare” and Cheryl agrees with “isn’t she though?”  While this seems like a harmless observation, Toni is spot on when Cheryl eavesdrops on a private conversation between her mother and her long-lost Uncle Claudius, who seem to be hinting at getting rid of Nana Blossom and then Cheryl.  Is Cheryl’s life in immediate danger?  Who can she turn to for help?  Hopefully, Toni will continue to be there for Cheryl, as it looks like she may be in the need of some serious rescuing.

Jughead tries to uncover the truth behind Mr. Lodge’s master plan.

In the beginning of the episode, Jughead is hard at work, desperately trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle staring in front of him.  When Archie approaches him and tells him that Mr. Lodge bought Pop’s diner without anyone knowing, Jughead feels the need to get to the bottom of this because he thinks that Riverdale is in great danger.  After interviewing Pop and learning that Pop wants to keep this from getting out because he is trying to protect his family, Jughead obliges but not before he gets a mysterious phone call from a bus driver that has some information.  After learning that Mr. Lodge has a connection to “Shankshaw Prison,” he turns to his father, FP for some much needed assistance.  FP pays one of his former connections a visit in prison and they get some seriously helpful intel.  Intel so helpful, that it prompts Mr. Lodge to make some serious moves to avoid Jughead releasing a story that will hurt his plan.  Jughead is quickly becoming a dangerous threat to Mr. Lodge, but will Mr. Lodge take action against Jughead and FP or keep his plan moving quietly?

Cheryl’s father has a secret will.

Cheryl is surprised to find out about her father’s secret will, especially when she learns that a public reading will be held.  Everyone quickly discovers that half of Mr. Blossom’s assets will go to Cheryl and the other half will be split among anyone who can prove they have Blossom blood running through their veins.  Alice Cooper is beyond angry, when she realizes that this is the reason why Hal has now asked her for a divorce.  It also explains why Polly has decided to pay her family a visit as well, finally introducing them to her adorable twin babies.  While it’s clear that everyone wants their fair share of the money, Betty is surprised to find out that Chic does not want to have his blood tested, which immediately gets her spidey senses tingling.  After Cheryl delivers a heart-warming speech and tells the public that she wants “no more blood, no more madness, no more horror,” it’s like she unknowingly opened up a door to a new dangerous threat.  The spitting image of her father walks in the room, causing her to faint.  Don’t fret, Mr. Blossom is not back from the dead, but his identical twin brother, Uncle Claudius is here to claim his fortune as well.  While it initially seems like Uncle Claudius has good intentions and was merely trying to outrun the Blossom curse previously, he clearly has other motives, as he seems more than willing to comply with Penelope Blossom’s plan, putting our beloved Cheryl in great danger.

“CSI Nancy Drew.”

Betty has been having her suspicions about Chic for quite a while now, but has no solid evidence against him.  She enlists the help of Kevin to “webcam” with Chic and to probe him for information.  It seems like they are getting somewhere, but Kevin has second thoughts and feels bad about lying to Chic.  Even though Kevin is out, Betty takes matters into her own hands after hearing about Chic’s refusal to get his blood tested.  His suspicious actions continue when he makes side comments about wishing it was just him, Betty, and Alice again, after Polly has arrived with the twins, making Chic feel unwanted and overcrowded.  Chic gets what he wants after taking the twins out for a night stroll, when Polly announces that she is going to move to San Francisco.  While Polly may be out of the picture…literally, as he cuts her out of a photo, Betty is still on the case.  She sneaks into Chic’s bathroom and takes his dental floss to have it tested behind his back.  Betty is done with the lies and deception, as she confronts Chic and throws the results in his face.  She looks him straight in the eyes and convincingly says, “you’re not who you say you are so who are you?”  This is a question that we are all pondering right now for sure.  Since Chic is not Betty’s biological brother, what does he want with the Cooper family?  Is Betty in danger now that she has confronted Chic about his lie?

When Mr. Lodge strategically suggests that Archie’s dad, Fred run for mayor, it seems like he is making Fred’s childhood dream into a reality.  However, Archie knows that being the mayor means becoming a “dog on a leash,” and he is not about to let his father get mixed up with this.  Veronica faces a difficult choice when her family asks her to convince Archie to get on board with this, which she clearly has mixed feelings about.  While both Archie and Veronica have trouble knowing which side to choose, Veronica jumps in to protect Archie from her father’s “apocalyptic wrath” and takes the blame for telling Jughead about Pop’s diner.  It’s apparent that Veronica loves Archie and will protect him, but will her father learn about her betrayal?  This is not the first time that Veronica has chosen to do the right thing over what her family wants.  After Mr. Lodge learns that Jughead is uncovering his plans to turn South Side High School into a prison, he quickly reveals this to Fred, hoping to keep him on their side.  The plan back-fires, however; when Fred announces he is out and wants no part of this.  This is not the future he wants for his town and for his son.  When he asks Archie to leave with him, Archie makes the bold decision to stay behind and hear what Mr. Lodge has to say.  He goes even further with his loyalty, when he signs a blood oath with Mr. Lodge and throws his notebook into the fire, destroying all of the secrets he has learned along the way.  Is Archie making the right choice or are his feelings for Veronica blinding him from the truth?  Mr. Lodge keeps things moving without showing any weakness, however; and Hermione Lodge announces that she is running for mayor with confidence and poise.  Now that all of the chess pieces appear to be in place, it looks like there is only one thing standing in Mr. Lodge’s way….Jughead Jones.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Mick” season 2 episode 17: “The Night Off”

Happy Wednesday!  After watching Fox’s The Mick season 2 episode 17 last night, I think it’s important to let those around us know how much they truly mean to us.  Expressing gratitude can go a long way, especially when you find yourself locked in a jail cell with a woman trying to make you into her “doll.”  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Night Off,” Alba is excited to take a much needed vacation weekend, leaving Mickey and the rest of the family in charge of a very important list.  Meanwhile, Jimmy makes a new friend, Chip tries to prove that he can be left at home unsupervised and Ben takes a lovely stroll down a back alley with his grandpa. My top 5 moments from The Mick season 2 episode 17 are:

Mickey listens to Ben’s story.

When Mickey agrees to let Ben tell her about his dream, she has no idea what she is getting herself into.  The story goes on and on and involves some type of werewolf robot but the details are not what are important.  The story goes on and on and seems never ending, as Ben follows Mickey around the house to fill her in on all of the details.  Mickey begrudgingly listens but gets to a point where she can’t take it anymore.  She tucks Ben in and he is confused since it is still light out.  “It will be dark when you close your eyes,” Mickey tells Ben in defeat and further explains that she doesn’t want to hear the end of the story “only because I want to marinate in the suspense.”  While this is only a part of Alba’s day, Mickey feels like she needs to go out to let off some steam since she just spent way too many hours invested into trying to follow Ben’s story.  After all, this is hard work.

Alba gets stuck in the train bathroom with a rat.

In the beginning of the episode, Alba is very excited to go on her spa weekend in New York.  When it seems like no one understands why she needs to get away, she reminds the family that “I am the glue that holds this house together.”  Alba is absolutely right and a vacation is just what she needs.  Only it doesn’t turn out the way she expects it to when she finds herself locked in the train bathroom with a rat.  While initially terrified of the rat, Alba warms up to him and even shares her booze with him.  The two hit it off and become friends, as Alba confides in the rat about her relationship with Mickey.  When the train conductor finally comes to let her out of the bathroom, the rat scurries off to her horror.

Jimmy makes a new friend.

After Mickey and Jimmy get into a fight after taking someone’s parking space, Jimmy meets his new best friend, Doug who jumps in to help out in the fight.  He even takes one guy out by punching in both eyes and explains that he “racooned him,” which is his signature move.  Jimmy is beyond impressed and spends the night out with his new friend.  He is thrilled to tell Mickey all about it and lets her know that they have a double date the next night.  Jimmy is beyond shocked when he learns that his new friend, Doug is gay and has a boyfriend.  He later explains to Doug that he is not homophobic and tells him about his friend, Anderson when he was growing up who used to practice kissing on him and ended up being gay.  Jimmy and Doug patch things up and it looks like the bromance will continue on after all.

Chip and Ben prove that they can take care of themselves…well maybe just Ben.

Ben is used to being left alone to his own devices and takes matters into his own hands, by pushing his grandpa, the Colonel in a wheel chair down the street.  Only the street leads him through several bad neighborhoods and dark alleys.  Ben even speaks to a prostitute who is offering up a good time and politely informs her that “we’re already having a great time but thanks!”  Chip, on the other hand, is not as capable as his younger brother.  When he learns he is home alone, he takes this opportunity to make a sandwich while shimmying around the kitchen as if it was his own personal dance floor.  It seems like everything is going fine until Chip slices off several of his fingers when he goes to cut the sandwich.  Chip screams out in horror and when Alba returns, there is blood everywhere.  This doesn’t faze Alba in the slightest, however; who tells Chip to find his fingers so she can get him to the hospital.

Mickey asserts her dominance.

Mickey is infuriated when Sabrina leaves the kids unattended, trying to get her to realize how much she does for the family.  When Sabrina tells her that it’s not her concern, Mickey takes things up a notch and handcuffs Sabrina to her younger brother, Ben, forcing her into babysitting duties.  Sabrina is not about to just accept this cruel twist of fate, however.  She chains up her grandpa, the colonel, to Mickey’s car, and the two are forced to hand over the keys to one another.  When Mickey leaves Sabrina to figure out what to do with Ben and the colonel, Sabrina is upset and storms into the restaurant.  Mickey warns her by saying, “don’t battle me…you will lose.”  Sabrina is up for the challenge, however; and both of them end up being arrested and thrown into a jail cell.  Sabrina is horrified by her surroundings and asks Mickey to protect her, but Mickey asks her to first admit how thankful she is for everything she does for her and the family.  Sabrina’s pride gets in the way and she quickly realizes she is on her own.  Sabrina’s nightmare is unfolding before her when her hair is being braided by another inmate who refers to her as a “doll.”  Mickey reminds her again that she can stop the madness if she just shows some gratitude.  Sabrina finally gives in, but not before the inmate rips out a chunk of her hair.  Mickey shrugs it off and tells her that “she earned it to be fair.”  It’s clear this hour in jail has changed Sabrina for the better as she offers to watch the kids for a few hours so that Mickey can relax in jail.  When the officer tries to explain to her that she needs to leave because she is free to go, Mickey asks what she needs to do to stay for a little while to get some much needed rest and relaxation.
