Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 13 episode 22: “Sometimes Doing the Right Thing can go Wrong”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 13 episode 22, Lucifer is desperately trying to turn over a new leaf to make a good impression on his son, but is anyone really buying it?  While he tries to bond with his son, Jack over forced high-fives and inappropriate discussions about his mother, it does sure seem like he’s trying.  It seems like Jack is willing to give him a chance, but are we?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Exodus,” Dean is beyond happy to see his brother, Sam alive and well.  However, their mother, Mary is not ready to leave her people behind, which causes the Winchester brothers to come up with a plan to bring everyone through the rift.  Meanwhile, Lucifer tries to bond with Jack and Rowena makes a valiant effort to hold the rift open.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 13 episode 22 are:

5

“VIP pass.  I’m with the band.”

In the beginning of the episode, everyone is shocked to see Lucifer enter the camp.  He tries to lighten the mood with his winning personality and reminds them that he’s here to join the team.  Sam and Dean don’t want Lucifer anywhere near Jack, but Jack is curious about his father and is not ready to turn away from him until he gets some answers.  While Lucifer possesses power that will come in handy in the fight against Michael, no one seems ready to jump on his bandwagon just yet.

4

Mary punches Lucifer in the face.

Lucifer comically asks Mary if she misses him and she responds with a punch square in his jaw.  I have to admit that this was beyond funny, as Mary proves that she is a Winchester no matter what and is not going to let anyone screw with her, even if they are the devil.  Mary explains to Sam and Dean that she is not going to go back through the rift because she does not want to abandon the people here counting on her.  Dean is not ready to accept going back to a world without her and Sam comes up with a compromise, suggesting that they bring everyone through the rift until they can come up with a plan to stop Michael.  While 25 people seem like quite a lot to bring through the rift in a short amount of time, they are willing to take this chance because they need their mother in their lives.  After all, they did just travel to another dimension to save her.

3

Castiel vs Castiel.

After reconnecting with Bobby, Dean is concerned about the well-being of Charlie, especially when he learns that Ketch is working with her.  Both Charlie and Ketch are captured and alter-dimension Castiel enters the room, ready to torture with no remorse.  Castiel faces off against himself, ready to take down the threat.  Alter-dimension Castiel reminds him, “we are the same” and our Castiel replies with, “yes we are,” as he takes his life with no hesitation.  While this threat is taken out, we know that Michael is still lurking somewhere in the shadows, ready to make his move.

2

“Kids.  You just gotta know how to talk to them.”

Lucifer eagerly embraces his new role as a father and puts his best effort forward to connect with Jack.  After taking off to gather his thoughts, Jack explains that he is ready to listen even though Sam, Dean, and Castiel warn him not to talk to Lucifer.  Jack has a lot of questions but starts with the most important one:  “Why does everyone hate you?”  Lucifer tries to spin his own story about why he was cast out of heaven and does mention that he has done some terrible things, but is ready to make amends.  Castiel is not buying it, however; rolling his eyes at Lucifer’s over-simplifications.  When Jack’s mother is mentioned, Lucifer tries to add some input and says, “Awesome lady.  Lost my virginity to her.”  This revelation is completely inappropriate, but Lucifer continues to try to bond with Jack, which leads to a somewhat inspiring pep talk.  Jack tells Sam that he wants to stay behind and fight Michael, but Lucifer steps in and reminds him that “sometimes doing the right thing can go wrong.”  Jack calls Lucifer “father” to his delight, but Sam is clearly worried that Lucifer’s influence will lead Jack down the wrong path, especially since he is so impressionable and naive.

1

Showdown at the rift.

Time is running out and everyone needs to make it out of the rift before it closes for good.  Rowena is back in our world, using all of her strength and magic to keep it open as long as possible.  As everyone starts going through the rift, Michael shows up with perfect timing.  Gabriel tells Sam and Dean to leave and is no longer running away.  He faces off against Michael and is tragically killed to the horror of Sam and Dean.  Gabriel sacrificed himself for them, proving that he did have goodness within him.  Lucifer tries to hold off Michael as well as everyone gets through the rift.  Just before Sam enters the rift, he says to Lucifer, “how did you think this was going to end?”  Sam rushes through the rift and leaves Lucifer behind.  Lucifer is now done being a team player and strikes up a deal with Michael.  He agrees to help him pass through the rift and destroy whatever he wants as long as he can be with his son.  While this is not shocking in the slightest, as we know that Lucifer’s first priority is always Lucifer, he and Michael together may be impossible to defeat.  Stay tuned for the season finale next week!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 21: “We Don’t Negotiate with Villains”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 21 last night, Henry talks about the importance of finding one’s happy ending the right way.  Unfortunately not everyone shares this belief, which we quickly learn during the first half of the series finale.  While sometimes patience, hope, and good deeds can be enough to fulfill our days, some characters are not able to overcome the overwhelming sense of defeat and loneliness within them.  Perhaps we all have the potential to become a villain, only we surround ourselves with people we love and things that make us happy to remind us to stay on a good path.  It’s hard not to be sympathetic to those who wander off the path, however, which can lead to darkness.  While these villains may not realize the damage that they are causing before it’s too late, it’s up to the heroes still existing to fight for good to prevail.  And it’s also important to know when to ask for help, as none of us are in this alone.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Homecoming,” wish Rumple pays Henry a visit and offers him a deal.  Meanwhile, Rogers/Nook promises Tilly/Alice that he will find a way for their own curse to be broken, Tiana/Sabine has doubts about her purpose, and Rumple takes on the greatest enemy he will ever face…himself.  My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 21 are:

5

Wish Rumple threatens Henry.

Just as the curse is broken and everyone’s memory is restored, it seems like our happy ending is right around the corner.  Only there is one more test that everyone must face in order to obtain it.  Henry is beyond happy to be reunited with his wife, Ella and his daughter, Lucy, but wish Rumple takes advantage of his love for them and traps them in the wish realm.  He threatens Henry and explains that he will destroy his family unless he retrieves the Dark One’s dagger and brings it to him.  Henry finds reinforcements when he goes to Regina, Rumple, and Nook for help.  Regina reminds him that “we don’t negotiate with villains” and talks about the importance of sticking by your family and protecting it no matter what.  They decide to go into the wish realm to save Ella and Lucy, using Alice’s cracked looking glass as a portal.  While they do not really know what to expect on the other side of the portal, they are ready to face whatever or whoever gets in their way, including some familiar faces.

4

Old friends and enemies return.

In wish realm, Henry and the others come across several familiar faces that will have OUAT fans everywhere cheering.  While the end of the show is near, it’s important that we look back on all of our past friends and enemies who have shaped the show and made it what it is today.  While Nook gets some help from our old friend, Ariel, other not so friendly faces are lurking behind the corner.  Peter Pan warns them as soon as they get to wish realm and Cruella holds on to her fur coat, but not her hair color unfortunately, as Henry later strips the black from her hair, which is the ink he needs for the Author’s Pen.  While we know more familiar faces will be surfacing in next week’s series finale, these characters are not to be forgotten, as they provide us with a reminder and a sense of nostalgia of the earlier days of Once Upon a Time.

3

Rumple vs Rumple.

Rumple decides to have a talk with himself.  He explains that he doesn’t want to force the dagger on an innocent and is happy to hand it over to him.  He thinks that wish Rumple could be the loophole he has been searching for all along.  But is he really ready to make a deal with his darker self?  Rumple explains that the one enemy he can never defeat is himself and is ready to get the happy ending he has been searching for.  However, Rumple has a trick up his sleeve, as he uses the squid ink Ariel gave them to trap him.  Rumple is ready to defeat his alter-ego, but Regina walks in and wish Rumple escapes.  While we know it can’t be that easy to defeat wish Rumple, it’s important that our Rumple is taking the necessary steps to finally do the right thing after repeating his mistakes over and over.  Rumple truly loves Belle but is willing to sacrifice reuniting with her if it means saving his family.  This transformation reminds us that it’s never too late to do the right thing and that having people in our lives who support us can make all the difference.

2

“None of my wishes came true.”

Like our version of Rumple, wish Rumple has not revealed his true intentions up front.  We learn that he has another agenda and it involves Henry.  Henry’s emotions are running high, as he is worried about the safety of his family, clouding his good judgment in the process.  He makes the rash decision to obtain the Author’s Pen and is warned by the author to use it to record, but not create.  Wish Rumple has been after the Author’s Pen this entire time and uses wish realm Henry as his instrument of destruction.  Even though our version of Henry turned down Rumple’s deal, wish realm Henry never had a single wish come true and is broken from this.  He is desperate enough to make a deal with wish Rumple and to rewrite history.  We know this can be extremely dangerous and it’s up to our favorite heroes to put a stop to this before all of their stories are rewritten.  After all, words are very powerful, but the intent behind them is what gives them their true meaning.

1

Tilly and Margot are ready to save the day.

Tilly/Alice gets a pain within her and recognizes immediately that something has gone terribly wrong.  She and Margot/Robin go to Tiana for help.  Tiana has been having doubts about her new role as a queen, but puts this aside when she stands in front of her people and asks them for help.  Her words are inspiring and remind us that you don’t always have to possess magic in order to make a difference.  Tiana’s words are enough and a magic bean is turned over to help Tilly and Margot get to their friends to save the day.  Only they need to make a quick stop first to get some help from some friends.  Next stop Storybrooke!  I am beyond excited for the conclusion of the series finale next week, especially since some of our favorite characters will be returning.  While it’s bitter sweet to see the ending finally arrive, I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds.  How about you?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Once Upon a Time in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The 100” season 5 episode 1: “Who am I now?”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  “May we meet again.”  I am beyond excited for the return of one of my absolute favorite shows on television right now: The 100. While the CW typically has The 100 premiere mid-season, it seemed like we had to wait extra long this year for the season premiere, but the wait is finally over.  If you have not yet watched this brilliant and addicting show, I highly recommend that you binge-watch it on Netflix as soon as possible.  It’s reminds me of a mix between Lost and Lord of the Flies with some teen angst and drama sprinkled in.  At the end of season 4, “Praimfaya” was about to arrive, which is otherwise known as the “Death Wave.”  While many of our favorite characters made it to an underground bunker for shelter, Clarke and her friends were running out of time and hatched a plan to launch themselves back into space.  Only Clarke was not able to get on the rocket in time and it launched without her.  While it seemed like Clarke had sacrificed herself to save her friends and was about to die from radiation exposure, the night blood injected into her veins kicked into high gear, healing her from the damage.

So now that you’re all caught up, let’s begin with season 5.   Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s season premiere episode, “Eden,” we learn about Clarke’s journey on her own beginning 42 days after “Praimfaya” has struck.  Clarke is alone and desperately trying to survive, but it seems like the odds are against her.  After failing to reach her mother in the bunker, Clarke decides to try and find some sort of life still existing, but her faith is tested over and over again.  Meanwhile, Bellamy and the others have been living on “The Ark” up in space, but have been trying to get back to earth and realize that they are not alone up there after spotting another ship.  My top 5 moments from The 100 season 5 episode 1 are:

5

“I’ve been by myself now for two months but this is the first time I feel alone.”

42 days after “Praimfaya” struck, we finally get to see Clarke who has miraculously survived.  Her first thought is to try and reach the bunker so she can be reunited with her mother, but she finds that it is buried so far beneath the surface, that she would never be able to get to it.  Clarke decides to journey out across the earth, desperately hoping to find some sign of life still present.  Clarke is barely able to rest, as every moment is focused on surviving.  Clarke proves to be very resourceful as her survival skills are put to the test, but the loneliness and emptiness inside her begins to creep in.  Clarke tries talking to Bellamy and her friends on “The Ark” on a radio, knowing full well that they will never hear her, but it’s the only thing she has left to cling to.

4

“Who am I now?”

Clarke begins to lose hope after she collapses in a barren field, waking up to a bird picking at her body.  She begs the bird to show her where it lives, but it flies away from her, leaving her alone once again.  Clarke hits her breaking point and screams out, “You think you can kill me?  Have at it…I’ve lost everything.  I’ve got nothing left.”  Up until this point, Clarke has buried her fear and loneliness as much as possible, but it has all come screaming to the surface now, refusing to let go.  Clarke’s emotions overwhelm her, as the harsh reality that she may die alone sets in.  Clarke picks up her gun and begins to make the conscious decision to end her life and this misery, when the bird suddenly circles around her again.  Clarke’s faith is healed, even if just for a moment, but it’s enough to get her up and running after it.  Clarke discovers a beautiful valley filled with lush trees and vegetation.  It’s like the “Death Wave” had missed it entirely.  Clarke thanks the bird and then mechanically kills it, as the survivor in her is back and ready to stay strong.

3

Life on “The Ark.”

About 6 years after “Praimfaya,” we finally get to see Bellamy and the others up on “The Ark.”  While it seems like everyone is alive and well, drama is never too far behind.  After all, these few characters have been trapped with one another for quite some time.  We learn that Murphy and Emori are no longer together and Bellamy is now with Echo, which has Bellarke fans everywhere screaming with disapproval.  That absolutely includes me.  While many things have changed, these characters have worked together as a team as much as possible and spot the green on the earth, which inspires the hope that it is survivable once again.  After they spot another ship and a transport ship, they realize that they have the opportunity to get back down to earth.  While we know that it’s only a matter of time before they reach earth again and reunite with Clarke, they have been living in a bubble for quite some time now, sheltered from society.  Will they be able to adapt to life on earth again?  How will Bellamy react once he sees that Clarke is alive?

2

The last two people on earth.

After discovering the valley, Clarke finds another survivor.  She is just a child, but has clearly only survived because of her own night blood.   The girl doesn’t trust Clarke and she traps her and wounds her, fleeing from her in fear.  Clarke doesn’t give up on her, however; and even keeps her sense of humor intact when she says, “Last two people on earth and one of them happens to be the child from hell.”  Clarke sketches a picture of the little girl and leaves it for her, which is the first step toward gaining her trust.  When we flash to 6 years later, Clarke is living with the little girl, Madi and the two are inseparable.  They have a mother-daughter like bond and Clarke has even taught her how to speak in English.  While they wonder if anyone will ever come back, Clarke shares all of her past stories with Madi and tells her about her family, friends, and love.  The two appear to have a precious and beautiful bond that cannot be broken.  Their simple and quiet life is interrupted, however; when a “prisoner ship” lands by the valley.

1

New arrivals to earth.

After the prisoner ship lands, new characters emerge who also spotted the green from space and took a chance that it was their own version of “Eden.”  One of the new characters is played by the beautiful and brilliant Ivana Milicevic from Banshee.  While the other prisoners seem to be just going with the flow, she appears to be smart and aware of her surroundings, which could make her an ally or a dangerous new threat.  Friend or foe?  While we are not sure just yet, Clarke is not about to take any chances.  After Madi shoots one of the prisoners to protect Clarke, Madi begs Clarke to spare the other one’s life since he tried to help her.  Clarke tells her that “there are no good guys” and ends his life without a moment’s hesitation.  Meanwhile, we get a quick glimpse at Octavia in the bunker, ruling some kind of underground fight club, which reminds us that these new prisoners are not the only people on the ground that Clarke needs to worry about.  While we will need to wait for everyone to be reunited, it’s clear that this season will be jam-packed with drama, adventure, and edge of your seat moments.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The 100 in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 18: “A Dark Phoenix Reborn in the Spotlight”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 18 last night, I find myself wondering how much are we really like the characters we play?  Perhaps more than we realize which seems to be the case for our favorite characters from Riverdale.  While it’s important to have a connection with the character we play, I think some people may have taken this embodiment a little too far, but the show must go on all the same.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty-One:  A Night to Remember,” it seems like everyone is focused on the school musical, “Carrie.”  Even the parents are heavily involved, as Alice stars in the show and Fred Andrews helps build the set.  Meanwhile, an old threat has returned, which seems like a prank at first but quickly escalates into something deadly, leaving everyone in shock and terror. My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 18 are:

5

Betty vs Veronica.

Betty is clearly still holding on to her feelings of anger and betrayal when she practices for the show and this seeps out into the open when she tells Veronica that she is a lot more like her character than she realizes.  Tension has quickly filled the room, but Betty continues to let it all out and tell Veronica how she feels.  Archie later approaches her and tries to get Betty to see it from Veronica’s point of view and she ultimately has a change of heart.  Betty and Veronica share a touching duet and sing, “I see you shine and the dark disappears.”  Perhaps bursting into the song is just what these two needed to make up.  Either way, it’s great to see Betty and Veronica on speaking…or singing terms again.

4

Archie stands up to Mr. Lodge.

Mr. Lodge continues his plot and tries to make Fred feel insignificant as Archie’s father when he tells him about the car he bought his son.  Fred is clearly hurt and disappointed and this finally resonates enough with Archie for him to stand up to Mr. Lodge.  He returns the car and warns Mr. Lodge not to get between him and his father again.  I have to say it’s about time.  While Archie has clearly been conflicted over this for a while, it’s great to see him finally make the right decision.  However, we know that Mr. Lodge doesn’t have the tendency to go away quietly, so what will be his next move?

3

Alice makes a choice…but is it the right one?

In the beginning of the episode, Alice waltzes into Pop’s Diner and asks, “What’s up handsome?” to FP.  However, FP appears to be blowing her off and keeps her at a distance.  Alice is more than disappointed and is starting to feel the loneliness around her creeping in despite her best attempts to keep it away.  Alice calls Chic over and over but doesn’t hear back from him and then has a breaking point when she is practicing her solo, singing to Betty, begging her not to leave her.  Betty sees how much her mother is hurting and calls her father, Hal who comes back with flowers and an apology.  Alice forgives him and seems content, but FP shows up at the show and is clearly hurt to see her back together with her husband.  Will FP give up or will he let Alice know how he truly feels?

2

“I will not succumb to thespian terrorism.  The world needs to see me up on that stage.”

Cheryl has fully embodied her role as Carrie and is not about to step down from the lead just because a threat was made, demanding that her role be recast.  This threat is not the only obstacle in Cheryl’s way, however.  It seems like Mrs. Blossom is going for the worst mother of the year award, when she walks in and tells Cheryl that she has not given her parental consent for her to be in the play.  Cheryl feels defeated and Toni goes to console her.  Toni tells her that she needs to show her mother who is in charge and Cheryl takes her advice.  Even though Cheryl may not be playing the lead in the school play, she goes full Carrie White on her mother.  Cheryl appears before her mother covered in blood and tells her that it’s Jason’s blood.  Cheryl threatens her mother and demands to be emancipated so that she and Nana Rose can live in peace.  Cheryl tells her mother, “I’ll end you,” and it’s clear that she means business.  After all, she’s burned one house to the ground and she’s not afraid to rise from the ashes again.

1

The Black Hood is back.

Kevin begins getting threatening letters demanding that the role of Carrie be recast.  At first it seems like a prank, but when a sandbag almost crushes Cheryl on stage, Kevin begins to take the threats very seriously and gets Jughead and Betty involved.  At first it seems like it could be Ethel since she is jealous about not being cast in the lead role, but this is quickly ruled out as too obvious.  Chic’s name comes to mind again, especially since he decides to show up at the play after refusing to return Alice’s calls.  The threats become all too real when the curtains open to reveal the understudy, Mitch Clem brutally stabbed.  The crowd and cast are in shock and panic begins to spread, as everyone realizes that the real Black Hood has re-surfaced.  Will our favorite characters be able to unmask the real Black Hood before it’s too late?  What does he or she have in store for everyone next?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Once Upon a Time” season 7 episode 15: “Operation Bromance”

After watching ABC’s Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 15 last night, it’s important to remember that even if you have made mistakes all throughout your life, it’s never too late to do something good to help tip the scale.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Sisterhood,” we learn about how Ivy/Drizella joined the coven and how she crossed paths with another fairy-tale favorite, Gretel.  Meanwhile, Regina and Lucy take a break from “Operation Hyacinth” to bring “Operation Bromance” into the mix to help cheer up Henry at “Flynn’s Arcade,” straight out of the film, Tron.  Doctor Facilier continues to work on earning the trust of those around him, but not without making a dangerous enemy in the process and the masked killer is finally revealed.  My top 5 moments from Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 15 are:

5

“Your clandestine boyfriend…when were you going to tell me about this?”

After learning that Doctor Facilier is after the Dark One’s dagger, Regina needed to decide whether or not to involve Rumpel.  She does tell him what’s going on, but it’s clear that Rumpel is not pleased that she waited so long.  After all, Rumpel always knows more about keeping secrets than anyone else.  Rumpel gets a lead on Anastasia and explains to Regina that they need to find her before Ivy does to prevent her power from being unleashed into the wrong hands.  Even though Doctor Facilier is working very hard to win over the trust of Regina, Rumpel trusts him about as far as he can throw him.  The two come face to face and a new rivalry has emerged:  Rumpel vs Facilier, who will win?

4

“Operation Bromance is a go.”

Lucy confides in Regina that she feels awful about keeping her mother and father apart, but Regina assures her that she is doing the right thing until they can figure out a way to break the curse without harming Henry.  While Jacinda has Lucy to cheer her up, Lucy is worried about her father, Henry.  Thus creating, “Operation Bromance.”  Back in the world prior to the curse, Regina explains that Henry’s two best friends were Nook/Rogers and Jack/Nick.  Lucy strategically texts them all to get them down to “Flynn’s Arcade” in an effort to provide Henry with some much needed fun.  Henry is not initially pleased saying, “she literally texted me into the friend zone,” but Lucy has good intentions.  After a while, Henry begins to relax and have a good time with his friends, making “Operation Bromance” a success, until he makes wagers about who will walk through the door next.

3

“The next girl who walks through the door, I’m going to ask her out.”

In walks Jacinda, as if straight out of a cheesy romantic comedy flick that makes you cry even though you’ll never admit it.  The lighting is just right, her hair has just the right amount of bounce, and she smiles at Henry so brilliantly that you can practically see stars in their eyes.  Fate has brought these two crazy kids together again and the begin talking about odds and chances, proving that you make your own luck, but sometimes destiny has a funny way of not letting go until nature runs the right course.  While it’s great to see this moment between Jacinda and Henry, it’s dangerous for them to be together until Regina and Lucy can break the curse.  But will they be too late?

2

“I guess you underestimated the power of sisterhood.”

Just as Ivy/Drizella has announced that she will make amends and do good, temptation comes her way several times throughout the episode, making her choices that much more important.  She initially turns down Gothel’s deal and takes a stand against her, refusing to make the same mistake she did when she killed Gretel to join the coven.  Even though Ivy/Drizella is standing alone, she needs to stay strong in order to survive.  However, this becomes difficult when the killer targets her next.  Luckily, her pepper spray and stiletto heel provide just the right amount of back-up to get away, but Ivy/Drizella is clearly feeling vulnerable now that she knows her life is in immediate danger.  With perfect timing, Doctor Facilier approaches her and offers her up a deal.  He explains that she can use a magic bean to escape to another realm, but she will need to sacrifice her sister, Anastasia to do so.  Doctor Facilier tries to manipulate her decision by explaining that Ana will die either way, but at least she can survive in one outcome.  Ivy/Drizella is able to bring Anastasia to her with the help of a lighted lantern but makes the horrible decision to choose herself over her sister.  The tables turn quickly, however; as Gothel wakes Anastasia up and puts sister against sister.  Ivy/Drizella has made numerous mistakes just like her mother, Victoria and now she has one final chance to do something right.  She drops her weapon and the two sisters choose their bond over revenge, spoiling Gothel’s plan.  It took you long enough Ivy/Drizella, but we’re happy to see you finally get it right.

1

Intentions are revealed.

Even though Ivy/Drizella has left this realm with her sister, she did not have the key to breaking Henry’s curse, which leaves Regina in the same mess she was in before.  Doctor Facilier approaches her and explains that he merely left the two sisters so they could find each other and tapped into Ana’s magic when they re-formed their bond.  Regina is still skeptical at this point of Doctor Facilier’s motives, but he gives her the magic as a gift so that she can use it to find a way to save her son.  Regina tries not to let her feelings get in the way as she asks what the price is of accepting this gift.  Doctor Facilier charmingly explains that “the only price is your smile,” but it seems a little bit too cliché if you ask me.  While Doctor Facilier may have Regina fooled for now, Rumpel is not about to let him just take his dagger.  While all of this is going on, the masked killer is finally revealed to be…..Jack/Nick.  But why?  What does he have to gain here?  Who will he target next?  Stay tuned to find out!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Once Upon a Time below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 16: “Primary Colors”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 16 last night, it seems like everyone is running in different directions, whether it be a path toward the truth or one to chase away nightmares.  Either way, Jughead got it absolutely right when he talked about two trains on the same track going in opposite directions, destined to collide.  The question now becomes, who is going to derail first?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Twenty-Nine:  Primary Colors,” Veronica makes the bold decision to run for class president and asks Betty to be her running mate.  Meanwhile, Jughead goes on a hunger strike to make a point to Mr. Lodge, Archie’s mother returns to town, Andy Cohen shows his support for Hermione Lodge, and Cheryl hosts a sleepover party that ends in disaster.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 16 are:

5

“Take deep breaths, keep smiling, and turn the other cheek.”

Now that Hermione Lodge has announced she is running for mayor, the Lodge family was forced to show their poker hand early and reveal that they are planning on opening up a for profit prison.  The town of Riverdale is not so pleased with this announcement and many of the kids at school are taking it out on Veronica as a result.  Her parents discuss the importance of maintaining a low profile, but it’s hard to oblige when Ethel Muggs is pouring a strawberry milkshake over your head in front of the entire cafeteria.  Surprisingly, Veronica handles this embarrassment with grace and shrugs it off.  She is not able to keep her composure, however; when Reggie confronts her in the hallway.  While Veronica is able to successfully take a deep breath and smile, she refuses to turn the other cheek in this situation and punches Reggie in the face.  A satisfying moment for sure, but it gives Veronica the wrong type of press and her family is outraged by her behavior.  They remind her that they need her to be a “good obedient little girl,” but will Veronica comply?

4

A cupcake and a kiss.

Veronica fails to listen to her family and decides to run for class president rather than lay low.  “As the Thelma to her Louise,” Veronica naturally asks Betty to be her running mate and it seems like they have a great campaign going.  Veronica even provides everyone with a cupcake and a kiss to associate them with something sweet.  Unfortunately, everything goes more than sour after Veronica mistakenly trusts Josie with a celebrity endorsement.  While Josie appears to be on board with this, she secretly goes to Ethel and provides her with intel on Veronica, revealing that she knew about her family’s plans to turn South Side High School into a prison.  A harmless concert goes horribly wrong when Ethel hands out flyers with all of this information; causing everyone to turn against Veronica…including Betty, who tells her that she can no longer be her running mate as a result.  Will Veronica be able to earn everyone’s trust again?  Unfortunately it looks like she will need to make a very difficult decision between her family and her friends to do so.

Cheryl’s fears become a reality.

Cheryl has been having nightmares and hallucinations ever since she overheard her mother’s plan to get rid of her and Nana Rose.  She decides to hold a sleep over party with her “inner circle and cousin Betty” to distract herself, but it’s really to confide in them about what’s going on.  Everyone is not really sure what to make of Cheryl’s fears, but Betty steps up and tells her that she feels like strangers are lurking behind every corner at her house too and empathizes with her.  Cheryl is beyond terrified and gets even closer to Toni.  Choni is about to share their first kiss, only they are interrupted suddenly.  Nana Rose has fallen badly and is rushed to the hospital, but Cheryl knows deep down that this cannot be an accident.  She is convinced that Uncle Claudius and her mother pushed Nana down the stairs but doesn’t have any proof.  Her mother intervenes when she tries to talk to the doctor and takes her into the car ominously saying that they will “make her all better.”  Noticing Cheryl’s disappearance, Toni shows up at the Blossom house to find her, but her mother mechanically tells her that she is out of the country at boarding school.  Toni knows this cannot be true, but the door slams in her face before she can get in another word.  The end of the episode reveals Cheryl locked away in some type of mental institution, her hair done up in pigtails, as if to bring her back to some sort of childhood state away from the rest of the world.  Will Toni be able to rescue her?  Why is Uncle Claudius wearing his dead brother’s pajamas?  It looks like the Blossom family is not done with secrets and deception just yet, but we will have to stay tuned to find out more.

“You know nothing about my darkness…but you will.”

After Betty confronts Chic about the DNA results, Alice explains that Chic doesn’t have any trace of Blossom blood because Hal is not his father.  While it seems like a reasonable explanation, Betty is still not buying Chic’s act and is determined to get to the bottom of this and protect her family.  Betty is outraged when she finds Kevin over at her house who told Chic about her “catfishing scheme,” and sold her out in the process.  Betty warns Chic to stay away from her friends and threatens him with a lighter right over his face, reminding him that she “catches bad men” and for him to “consider himself warned.”  Chic does not listen to her threat, however; and goes behind Betty’s back and tells Alice what she did.  He then shows Alice Betty’s role play wig, revealing that her and Jughead have taken their relationship to the next level.  Alice is shocked by this information but has a heart-to-heart talk with Betty later on and confides to her about her past relationship with FP.  While she rules FP out as Chic’s father, it begs the question, who is his real father?  Betty tells Chic that she wants a truce for their mother’s sake, but it’s clear that she is not giving up anytime soon.  Go Betty!

1

Archie vs Jughead.

Jughead makes the brave decision to go on a hunger strike to continue his stand against Mr. Lodge and the destruction of South Side High School.  While Betty supports him on this, Archie is having conflicted feelings yet again.  Jughead tells Archie that they are like “two trains running on the same track in opposite directions, destined to collide” and he is absolutely right.  Jughead clearly gets Mr. Lodge’s attention and asks the serpents, “Who is ready to go to war?”  They make the decision to chain themselves to South Side High School creating a lot of publicity in the process.  Archie’s mother returns to Riverdale and is appalled by Archie’s behavior.  She tells him that he needs to respect his father who has always done everything the right way to support him and cannot get over his allegiance to the Lodge Family.  Mr. Lodge steps things up when he tells Archie to take force against Jughead.  Archie clearly does not want to hurt his best friend, but Mr. Lodge ominously reminds him about the consequences of breaking an oath.  Archie takes this opportunity to ask for a favor in return and Mr. Lodge agrees to let his father out of his contract.  This leads to Fred announcing that he will run for mayor against the Lodge Family, which will clearly cause even more drama.  While Archie is trying to protect his family with his decision, he cuts Jughead’s chains, creating a rift that could shake the entire town.  Jughead refuses to fight him and reminds Archie that there are cameras all around, capturing exactly what he is doing.  In Jughead’s mind he is winning the good fight, but it looks like he is losing his best friend in the process.  He makes the brave decision to run for class president and wants Betty to be his co-president.  The collision is becoming all too real now, as Archie and Jughead become that much more divided.  Who will wind up victorious?  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 15: “There Will Be Blood”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 15 last night, I am pondering whether or not blood really is thicker than water?  On the surface, it seems like familial bonds are the strongest there are, but it’s more than just sharing blood.  It’s about love, trust, and unconditional support.  While some characters manipulate the need for this bond to get what they want, others go in a completely different direction and swear allegiance to what could be their greatest enemy in an attempt to do the right thing.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Twenty-Eight:  There Will Be Blood,” Jughead gets closer and closer to finding out the truth, tracking down every lead he comes across.  Meanwhile, Betty enlists Kevin to help her find out what Chic is hiding, Hal wants a divorce, and a secret will from Mr. Blossom brings new and familiar faces to town.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 15 are:

5

Cheryl and Toni continue to bond.

Choni is back for this episode and it’s about time Cheryl has someone in her corner.  When Cheryl learns about the secret will, she invites Toni to attend the reading and even helps her try on some of her clothes.  Cheryl’s mother is clearly not happy with her presence, but Cheryl is not about to let her ruin this.  Toni points out that Cheryl’s mother “is a nightmare” and Cheryl agrees with “isn’t she though?”  While this seems like a harmless observation, Toni is spot on when Cheryl eavesdrops on a private conversation between her mother and her long-lost Uncle Claudius, who seem to be hinting at getting rid of Nana Blossom and then Cheryl.  Is Cheryl’s life in immediate danger?  Who can she turn to for help?  Hopefully, Toni will continue to be there for Cheryl, as it looks like she may be in the need of some serious rescuing.

4

Jughead tries to uncover the truth behind Mr. Lodge’s master plan.

In the beginning of the episode, Jughead is hard at work, desperately trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle staring in front of him.  When Archie approaches him and tells him that Mr. Lodge bought Pop’s diner without anyone knowing, Jughead feels the need to get to the bottom of this because he thinks that Riverdale is in great danger.  After interviewing Pop and learning that Pop wants to keep this from getting out because he is trying to protect his family, Jughead obliges but not before he gets a mysterious phone call from a bus driver that has some information.  After learning that Mr. Lodge has a connection to “Shankshaw Prison,” he turns to his father, FP for some much needed assistance.  FP pays one of his former connections a visit in prison and they get some seriously helpful intel.  Intel so helpful, that it prompts Mr. Lodge to make some serious moves to avoid Jughead releasing a story that will hurt his plan.  Jughead is quickly becoming a dangerous threat to Mr. Lodge, but will Mr. Lodge take action against Jughead and FP or keep his plan moving quietly?

3

Cheryl’s father has a secret will.

Cheryl is surprised to find out about her father’s secret will, especially when she learns that a public reading will be held.  Everyone quickly discovers that half of Mr. Blossom’s assets will go to Cheryl and the other half will be split among anyone who can prove they have Blossom blood running through their veins.  Alice Cooper is beyond angry, when she realizes that this is the reason why Hal has now asked her for a divorce.  It also explains why Polly has decided to pay her family a visit as well, finally introducing them to her adorable twin babies.  While it’s clear that everyone wants their fair share of the money, Betty is surprised to find out that Chic does not want to have his blood tested, which immediately gets her spidey senses tingling.  After Cheryl delivers a heart-warming speech and tells the public that she wants “no more blood, no more madness, no more horror,” it’s like she unknowingly opened up a door to a new dangerous threat.  The spitting image of her father walks in the room, causing her to faint.  Don’t fret, Mr. Blossom is not back from the dead, but his identical twin brother, Uncle Claudius is here to claim his fortune as well.  While it initially seems like Uncle Claudius has good intentions and was merely trying to outrun the Blossom curse previously, he clearly has other motives, as he seems more than willing to comply with Penelope Blossom’s plan, putting our beloved Cheryl in great danger.

2

“CSI Nancy Drew.”

Betty has been having her suspicions about Chic for quite a while now, but has no solid evidence against him.  She enlists the help of Kevin to “webcam” with Chic and to probe him for information.  It seems like they are getting somewhere, but Kevin has second thoughts and feels bad about lying to Chic.  Even though Kevin is out, Betty takes matters into her own hands after hearing about Chic’s refusal to get his blood tested.  His suspicious actions continue when he makes side comments about wishing it was just him, Betty, and Alice again, after Polly has arrived with the twins, making Chic feel unwanted and overcrowded.  Chic gets what he wants after taking the twins out for a night stroll, when Polly announces that she is going to move to San Francisco.  While Polly may be out of the picture…literally, as he cuts her out of a photo, Betty is still on the case.  She sneaks into Chic’s bathroom and takes his dental floss to have it tested behind his back.  Betty is done with the lies and deception, as she confronts Chic and throws the results in his face.  She looks him straight in the eyes and convincingly says, “you’re not who you say you are so who are you?”  This is a question that we are all pondering right now for sure.  Since Chic is not Betty’s biological brother, what does he want with the Cooper family?  Is Betty in danger now that she has confronted Chic about his lie?

1

Archie and Veronica blur the lines between family and friendship.

When Mr. Lodge strategically suggests that Archie’s dad, Fred run for mayor, it seems like he is making Fred’s childhood dream into a reality.  However, Archie knows that being the mayor means becoming a “dog on a leash,” and he is not about to let his father get mixed up with this.  Veronica faces a difficult choice when her family asks her to convince Archie to get on board with this, which she clearly has mixed feelings about.  While both Archie and Veronica have trouble knowing which side to choose, Veronica jumps in to protect Archie from her father’s “apocalyptic wrath” and takes the blame for telling Jughead about Pop’s diner.  It’s apparent that Veronica loves Archie and will protect him, but will her father learn about her betrayal?  This is not the first time that Veronica has chosen to do the right thing over what her family wants.  After Mr. Lodge learns that Jughead is uncovering his plans to turn South Side High School into a prison, he quickly reveals this to Fred, hoping to keep him on their side.  The plan back-fires, however; when Fred announces he is out and wants no part of this.  This is not the future he wants for his town and for his son.  When he asks Archie to leave with him, Archie makes the bold decision to stay behind and hear what Mr. Lodge has to say.  He goes even further with his loyalty, when he signs a blood oath with Mr. Lodge and throws his notebook into the fire, destroying all of the secrets he has learned along the way.  Is Archie making the right choice or are his feelings for Veronica blinding him from the truth?  Mr. Lodge keeps things moving without showing any weakness, however; and Hermione Lodge announces that she is running for mayor with confidence and poise.  Now that all of the chess pieces appear to be in place, it looks like there is only one thing standing in Mr. Lodge’s way….Jughead Jones.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Mick” season 2 episode 17: “The Night Off”

Happy Wednesday!  After watching Fox’s The Mick season 2 episode 17 last night, I think it’s important to let those around us know how much they truly mean to us.  Expressing gratitude can go a long way, especially when you find yourself locked in a jail cell with a woman trying to make you into her “doll.”  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Night Off,” Alba is excited to take a much needed vacation weekend, leaving Mickey and the rest of the family in charge of a very important list.  Meanwhile, Jimmy makes a new friend, Chip tries to prove that he can be left at home unsupervised and Ben takes a lovely stroll down a back alley with his grandpa. My top 5 moments from The Mick season 2 episode 17 are:

5

Mickey listens to Ben’s story.

When Mickey agrees to let Ben tell her about his dream, she has no idea what she is getting herself into.  The story goes on and on and involves some type of werewolf robot but the details are not what are important.  The story goes on and on and seems never ending, as Ben follows Mickey around the house to fill her in on all of the details.  Mickey begrudgingly listens but gets to a point where she can’t take it anymore.  She tucks Ben in and he is confused since it is still light out.  “It will be dark when you close your eyes,” Mickey tells Ben in defeat and further explains that she doesn’t want to hear the end of the story “only because I want to marinate in the suspense.”  While this is only a part of Alba’s day, Mickey feels like she needs to go out to let off some steam since she just spent way too many hours invested into trying to follow Ben’s story.  After all, this is hard work.

4

Alba gets stuck in the train bathroom with a rat.

In the beginning of the episode, Alba is very excited to go on her spa weekend in New York.  When it seems like no one understands why she needs to get away, she reminds the family that “I am the glue that holds this house together.”  Alba is absolutely right and a vacation is just what she needs.  Only it doesn’t turn out the way she expects it to when she finds herself locked in the train bathroom with a rat.  While initially terrified of the rat, Alba warms up to him and even shares her booze with him.  The two hit it off and become friends, as Alba confides in the rat about her relationship with Mickey.  When the train conductor finally comes to let her out of the bathroom, the rat scurries off to her horror.

3

Jimmy makes a new friend.

After Mickey and Jimmy get into a fight after taking someone’s parking space, Jimmy meets his new best friend, Doug who jumps in to help out in the fight.  He even takes one guy out by punching in both eyes and explains that he “racooned him,” which is his signature move.  Jimmy is beyond impressed and spends the night out with his new friend.  He is thrilled to tell Mickey all about it and lets her know that they have a double date the next night.  Jimmy is beyond shocked when he learns that his new friend, Doug is gay and has a boyfriend.  He later explains to Doug that he is not homophobic and tells him about his friend, Anderson when he was growing up who used to practice kissing on him and ended up being gay.  Jimmy and Doug patch things up and it looks like the bromance will continue on after all.

2

Chip and Ben prove that they can take care of themselves…well maybe just Ben.

Ben is used to being left alone to his own devices and takes matters into his own hands, by pushing his grandpa, the Colonel in a wheel chair down the street.  Only the street leads him through several bad neighborhoods and dark alleys.  Ben even speaks to a prostitute who is offering up a good time and politely informs her that “we’re already having a great time but thanks!”  Chip, on the other hand, is not as capable as his younger brother.  When he learns he is home alone, he takes this opportunity to make a sandwich while shimmying around the kitchen as if it was his own personal dance floor.  It seems like everything is going fine until Chip slices off several of his fingers when he goes to cut the sandwich.  Chip screams out in horror and when Alba returns, there is blood everywhere.  This doesn’t faze Alba in the slightest, however; who tells Chip to find his fingers so she can get him to the hospital.

1

Mickey asserts her dominance.

Mickey is infuriated when Sabrina leaves the kids unattended, trying to get her to realize how much she does for the family.  When Sabrina tells her that it’s not her concern, Mickey takes things up a notch and handcuffs Sabrina to her younger brother, Ben, forcing her into babysitting duties.  Sabrina is not about to just accept this cruel twist of fate, however.  She chains up her grandpa, the colonel, to Mickey’s car, and the two are forced to hand over the keys to one another.  When Mickey leaves Sabrina to figure out what to do with Ben and the colonel, Sabrina is upset and storms into the restaurant.  Mickey warns her by saying, “don’t battle me…you will lose.”  Sabrina is up for the challenge, however; and both of them end up being arrested and thrown into a jail cell.  Sabrina is horrified by her surroundings and asks Mickey to protect her, but Mickey asks her to first admit how thankful she is for everything she does for her and the family.  Sabrina’s pride gets in the way and she quickly realizes she is on her own.  Sabrina’s nightmare is unfolding before her when her hair is being braided by another inmate who refers to her as a “doll.”  Mickey reminds her again that she can stop the madness if she just shows some gratitude.  Sabrina finally gives in, but not before the inmate rips out a chunk of her hair.  Mickey shrugs it off and tells her that “she earned it to be fair.”  It’s clear this hour in jail has changed Sabrina for the better as she offers to watch the kids for a few hours so that Mickey can relax in jail.  When the officer tries to explain to her that she needs to leave because she is free to go, Mickey asks what she needs to do to stay for a little while to get some much needed rest and relaxation.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and comments on The Mick below. Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 8 episode 12 season finale: “Time to Go Gallagher!”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 8 episode 12 finale last night, I am certainly going to miss watching my favorite dysfunctional family for a while.  While new episodes will return later this year, I am happy that every member of the Gallagher family made the right call after being faced with a difficult decision.  Whether they were tempted by taking the easy way out or making someone else happy, each one of them ultimately found their way, reminding us that doing the right thing does pay off in the end.  Now Frank on the other hand is another story.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Sleepwalking,” Fiona seeks out the help of “Pyro Paulie” to go full Gallagher on Rodney and his family, refusing to give up what she has worked so hard on.  Lip is finally back together with Sierra, but is he ready to get sucked back in the drama all over again?  Svetlana pursues her American Dream to get married while holding Frelania hostage and Kev embraces his new role as “father of the bride.”  Meanwhile, a warrant is out for Ian’s arrest, Carl attempts to make it to military school, and Liam is faced with the dilemma of making his father happy or betraying his new friend.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 8 episode 12 are:

5

Liam does some recon.

Liam’s new friend, Dylan, is more than rich.  After Frank pays Dylan’s father a visit and does a quick scan of his assets, he enlists the help of his youngest son to do some full recon and obtain the alarm code.  Liam does a great job taking the pictures for Frank and even comes up with a brilliant plan to get the alarm code.  He sets off the alarm with Dylan as a prank on the maid and then zooms in on the code:  6197.  After he discusses everything with Frank, Liam begins having second thoughts.  While this may be the root cause of his sleepwalking, Liam decides that he wants to keep his friendship with Dylan and of course enjoy some much deserved “yachting” and relaxation.  Liam gives Frank the wrong code, which leads to a hilarious escape from the police, ending with Frank jumping into the portable toilet.  Not just the stall…but the actual toilet.  Frank manages to hold on to a few items and walks into the Gallagher home in victory, covered in blue dye and sewage.  I guess he’ll take this one as a win.

4

Carl attempts to get to military school.

Carl’s wife, Cassidy, actually has her named spelled with a “K,” which I learned in this last episode when she explains that all of their 6 children will have names starting with a “C” or a “K.”  Sorry Kassidi.  Either way, Carl’s girlfriend…wife, Kassidi played by the brilliant Sammi Hanratty is not about to let him leave without a fight.  Carl strategically jumps out the window when Kassidi is showering to buy new gear for military school.  He avoids her as much as possible and even brings her flowers as a decoy, but this is no match for Kassidi’s obsession.  She hand-cuffs him to the bed and refuses to let him go.  When Carl spots Debbie, he begs her to get the keys, but Debbie takes this as an opportunity to test out her brother’s listening skills, refusing to get involved in the middle.  After all she does love Kassidi’s waffles.  With the help of Liam’s habit to steal keys when he sleepwalks, Carl manages to escape and successfully gets on the bus to military school to the dismay of Kassidi.  While Carl does love Kassidi, he is not about to completely dismiss his other love for military school and he has the chance to really become someone to be proud of.  Will their marriage be able to survive this?  Will Kassidi resort to even crazier methods to get him back?

3

Svetlana gets married.

Svetlana’s plan seems to be going well when she kidnaps her former Russian friend, Frelania and keeps her held hostage at Kev and V’s home.  After realizing that she has the chance to successfully steal her husband and obtain the American Dream of becoming a rich trophy wife, there is no stopping her.  Kev and V are on board to help her and Kev fully embraces his new role as the “father of the bride.”  However, when Svetlana explains that if Frelania “tries anything you cut her face,” he is a little hesitant to put the machete to use.  Svetlana explains that the next part of their plan involves keeping Frelania’s mother, Zlata distracted, as she is the only person who will be able to recognize Svetlana at the wedding.  Kev hilariously dresses up as a chauffeur, complete with ripped sleeves underneath the suit jacket, and displays a sign at the airport reading “Zlata…super long last name” with an arrow.  Zlata is known to have a “taste for human flesh,” so Kev and V decide to try out her appetite for vodka to keep her as far away from the wedding as possible.  Everything seems to be going seamlessly when Svetlana walks down the aisle in a gorgeous wedding gown, only for Kev to find out that there is a Prenup.  Just as he reveals this to V, Svetlana says “I do.”  One can only imagine what she will do when she finds out the truth next season.

2

Lip finally makes the right decision.

Lip seems to be getting everything he wanted.  He’s sober, he has a job, and now he even has Sierra back.  Everything should be fine, right?  After witnessing Sierra and her former boyfriend, Charlie arguing in the street, he realizes that he is about to get sucked up into a whirlwind of drama all over again.  Has Lip learned from his past mistakes?  Yes!  Lip walks away from Sierra and tells her that he’s not sure how he feels and he thinks she should give Charlie another chance.  At the end of the episode, Lip decides to help out Eddie’s niece and offers for her to stay with him until everything is sorted out with Eddie and her mom.  The little girl is beyond delighted that someone actually cares enough about her not to abandon her and happily helps Lip with his motorcycle.  Lip finally realizes that love doesn’t have to be romantic or messy.  The friendship and bond he has with Eddie’s niece goes beyond this and is the best thing for him right now to maintain his sobriety and his sanity.

1

“Time to go Gallagher.”

After Fiona talks with her lawyer, she is horrified that Rodney and his family are actually demanding custody of her dog, Rusty…or “Sparkles” along with 3 million dollars.  Her lawyer explains that her best option is to sell the building and to declare bankruptcy but Fiona is not ready to give up on her hard work just yet.  After consulting with a few others, Fiona realizes that she is going to take back what is hers.  She meets Frank’s friend, “Pyro Paulie,” who provides her with instructions on how to smoke out Rodney and his family…literally.  After they vacate the building, Fiona gives them an offer on her terms.  She says she will pay them a few thousand now for them to leave and never come back and that she will continue paying them $500 a month after that.  Rodney’s wife refuses the offer, which prompts Fiona to begin lighting cash on fire to show them she means business.  Rodney realizes that a lawsuit can take a very long time before he may see any money and takes the deal.  Fiona is able to keep her building and now has a new relationship with Irish Ford to look forward to.  Things are looking up for Fiona after all.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and comments on Shameless below.  Thanks for reading and happy viewing!

Throw-back Sunday: Ranking the top 5 couples from “Beverly Hills, 90210”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  This past summer, I invested quite a bit of time into re-watching all 10 seasons of the original Beverly Hills, 90210 series and I have to say it was very entertaining.  I forgot how many episodes there were in some seasons especially when they had those special summer airings.  I dusted off my old DVD set and watched Brandon and Brenda Walsh tough it out in Beverly Hills, California, leaving their wholesome and normal lives back in Minnesota.

It’s been at least 6 years since I have watched the series, as I used to binge-watch a lot on Soapnet, but everything came flooding back to me from the instrumental theme song to the over-the-top drama between Brenda and Kelly.  Talk about paving the way for love triangles to come in later series!

After getting over the initial shock of how young everyone looked and watching them grow up all over again with drama never far behind, I started to think about some of my favorite couples on the series.  There are quite a few who had an undeniable connection even though some of them did not even last for the entirety of the series.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  My top five ships from Beverly Hills, 90210 are:

5

Dylan & Kelly.

Dylan and Kelly 1 14

During the first watch of the series, I was shocked by the scandalous actions of Dylan and Kelly.  Brenda went off to study abroad with Donna in Paris, leaving her best friend and her boyfriend behind for the summer.  It seemed like nothing could break the bond between fan-favorites, Dylan and Brenda, but Kelly managed to come between the couple.  I shouldn’t blame Kelly entirely, as Dylan was absolutely at fault here too.  While the couple shares its ups and downs over time, some of their first moments together in the swimming pool and at the beach bonfire are beyond passionate.  However, they lacked the friendship that Brenda and Dylan shared in my opinion.

Either way, their secret relationship caused a major rift between both the relationship of Brenda and Dylan and the friendship between Kelly and Brenda.  When they finally come clean and tell Brenda the truth, her reaction is so real and heart-breaking.  She trusted her two friends and is shocked at their betrayal.

Over the years, Kelly and Dylan have on and off again relations and never really end up together.  However, at the end of the series they are seen gazing at each other during David and Donna’s wedding to imply that their relationship is not over.  In the remake of 90210, Kelly reveals that Dylan is the father of her child, but is still not with him in this future.   Guess it wasn’t meant to be after all.

4

Brandon & Kelly.

Brandon and Kelly 1 14

Yes, Kelly does earn two spots in this ranking and it’s because there is such an undeniable love between Brandon and Kelly.  After my re-watch, I much preferred Brandon and Kelly together; as they seemed to balance each other out more and had more of that friendship I was looking for between Kelly and Dylan.

Kelly is familiar with betrayal and now turns the tables on Dylan to reveal her relationship with his best friend, Brandon.  While the betrayal does not have the same feeling of twisting the knife like with Brenda, it does hurt Dylan to see them together.  That being said, Dylan’s life is falling apart during this time and Kelly felt like she was drowning with him, descending further and further into his mess.

Brandon is very stable and charming, running for class office when they first meet.  It seems like Brandon will be the man to turn Kelly’s life around.  However, this couple deals with more drama and chaos than any other.  It is almost impossible for them to survive a fire, a cult, a drug addiction, a shooting, and a failed attempt to get married.   When you say that all out loud it seems very unlikely, but I promise this all happened to Kelly. While it doesn’t seem to be in the cards for Brandon and Kelly either, you can’t deny the love between these two characters.

3

Steve & Janet.

Steve and Janet 1 14

After Steve’s long-term relationship with ended with fan-favorite, Clare, viewers were wondering if he would ever find another love to provide him with the voice of reason he so desperately needed.  Steve was always the “class clown” and stayed away from responsibility as if it were the plague.  When he started working with Janet, he didn’t initially realize his feelings for her.  They started a friendship first and eventually began dating.

Janet was perfect for Steve, almost becoming his moral compass, similar to Brandon.  When Janet announced she was pregnant, Steve’s entire life changed for the better.  He embraced his responsibility and married Janet to the delight of fans everywhere.  This couple probably had the closest thing to a “normal relationship” on the show and continued to prove their love for one another as the series went on.

2

David & Donna.

David and Donna 1 14

This list would not be complete without including David Silver and Donna Martin.  The couple began dating in high school and had a sweet and innocent quality.  One of my favorite scenes is when Donna stops worrying about what others think and announces to her friends at the dance that she is dating David with confidence and love.

Over the years, this couple goes through a lot of ups and downs.  Donna feels very strongly about staying a virgin to the disappointment of David.  Although he tries to support her as much as possible, an affair takes place that breaks them up for a long period of time.

Even when David and Donna are not together, they keep their friendship alive.  When Donna is attacked, David is the one who comes to her rescue and saves her.  Toward the end of the series, Donna and David finally accept their destiny to be together and get married at the end of the show.  Fans were delighted to see the happy ending between David and Donna.  The high-school sweethearts have not had it easy at all, but they reunite and promise to love one another forever.

Some honorable mentions before revealing my number one ship are:

  • David & Valerie
  • Steve & Clare
  • Brandon & Emily Valentine
  • Noah & Donna
  • Dylan & Toni

1

Dylan & Brenda.

Brenda and Dylan 1 14

My number one ship has to go to Dylan and Brenda.  At the beginning of the series, their blossoming relationship is beautiful and real.  Brenda realizes that Dylan has a lot of baggage and a complicated life, but she doesn’t run away from it.  Rather, she runs toward him with open arms, revealing her strong feelings for him.  Even though they are in high school, Dylan and Brenda have a strong relationship filled with a lot of laughter and romance.

As they begin to get closer and closer, Brenda’s father attempts to intervene, fearing that his daughter is making bad decisions.  While this does take a toll on Dylan and Brenda’s relationship, they continue to tough it out together.  R.E.M’s song, “Losing My Religion,” is basically the anthem of Dylan and Brenda’s break-up and attempt to put the pieces back together.

After Kelly and Dylan have an affair, it seems like Brenda and Dylan will not end up together.  However, once Brenda leaves the show, the writers add in that Dylan and Brenda are living together in Europe, trying to give fans the happy ending they so desperately wanted between these two.

There was something so believable and undeniable between this ship, still holding the test of time.  Even when both characters were off the show, fans were still talking about them and rooting for them.

I hope you enjoyed my list and feel free to post your own thoughts and comments about the ships on Beverly Hills, 90210.  Thanks for reading and happy viewing!
