Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 9: “I’m The Hobo Loco Man!”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 9, I realized that having a vision board will not solve everything, but it’s not a bad place to start and you might even end up surprising yourself with what you discover.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “BOOOOOOOOOOOONE!,” Debbie takes on some more responsibility and decides that everyone is going to pay up or be left out in the cold.  Meanwhile, Irish Ford pays Fiona a visit, Liam bonds with Santiago, and Lip meets Tami’s ex-boyfriend.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 9 are:

5

“We’ll do 3.”

In this episode, we learn that Ingrid is pregnant, but there are already six embryos present.  The doctor explains that she will need to terminate some of them so that Ingrid has a safe and healthy pregnancy, but Ingrid is not ready to let go.  After first agreeing to three babies, she decides that she will be keeping all six.  Frank does the math and realizes he will need to start saving up over a million dollars, but our guy Frank always has a scheme in the works.

4

“I didn’t make the name up.”

While Kev and V try to track down Santiago’s uncle, they also make time to prepare some drinks for the “Hobo Loco Man Competition.”  The drink by itself is beyond disgusting and Kev tries to mix it with some cocktails so that he can win the competition.  Some of Kev’s drink ideas include:  “Hobo Rita,” “Napalm Gut Rinse,” and “Death,” which is a full shot of Hobo Loco with 4 ounces of Baileys.  While I love the creativity here behind the Hobo Loco cocktail names, I’m not sure that anything can make this drink appetizing.  However, Frank is inspired when he learns that he could potentially become the Hobo Loco Man spokesperson and earn $50,000.  After all, Frank is pretty much the only one who can actually drink this, so I guess it’s worth a shot.

3

“I don’t want to mess your future up.”

After Kelly’s father threatens Carl with a gun, Carl begins to have second thoughts about their relationship, but not for the reasons you may suspect.  Carl genuinely cares about Kelly and tells her, “I don’t want to mess your future up,” which is selfless and really sweet.  When working on the vision board, Kelly realizes that she has been living her life for her father and that it’s about time she stands up for herself and what she wants.  She tells her father that she does want to go to his dream school, but that she will do it on her terms, which include dating Carl and having sex with him in her bedroom.  It looks like Carl may have found the one, but I’m still wondering if Kassidi may rise up from the grave anytime soon.

2

“He’s the guy kissing your chick.”

When I saw the name of the episode, I was slightly startled, but then I understood it when Tami’s ex-boyfriend, Boone, walked in the door.  Lip initially feels out of place and unsure of what to do next when he finds out that Boone made a promise to marry Tami.  After working out some of their issues, Lip and Tami realize they are ready to move forward with their relationship together and that it’s OK to show their feelings every once and a while.  I have to say that I am liking this relationship so far, but let’s hope that Tami can treat Lip with love and respect because he deserves it.

1

“I don’t need anything from you!”

Poor Fiona is continuing to spiral out of control in this episode and it doesn’t help when Irish Ford walks in the door to ask for his tools back.  Fiona tries to tell him that she doesn’t have his tools and that she hasn’t thought about him in weeks and Debbie and the Gallaghers have Fiona’s back when Debbie ominously says, “We thought about you though,” while holding a knife.  Later on, Fiona’s anger continues to get the best of her and it even impacts her work.  She later tries out boxing to see if she can channel her aggression, but this seems to only prove that Fiona is very capable of defending herself.  After all, she is from the South Side.  After getting a little bit of satisfaction from throwing Ford’s tools through his window, Fiona ends up on her front porch with Liam.  Liam promises her that he will never disrespect women, even though he is currently keeping his options open, which is beyond heartwarming.  Debbie decides to let Fiona and Liam back in even though they still owe her money, but hopefully Fiona will begin to “turn a corner” and pick up the pieces.  Stay tuned!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 8: “I’m A Fun Person!”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 8, the apple may not fall far from the Alibi, but it’s great to have the Gallaghers back with new episodes.  Will the Gallagher family be able to help Fiona recover from her downward spiral, however?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From the Alibi,” Debbie tries to pick up the pieces and pay for the bills while Fiona continues to hit rock bottom.  Meanwhile, Carl starts a new business venture with Kelly, Tami tries to convince Lip to get his own place, and Frank contemplates fatherhood…again.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 8 are:

5

“Is Jabby grumpy this morning?”

In this episode, we learn that Lip and Tami, played by Kate Miner, are still moving forward with their new relationship, only they are having a difficult time finding a space that is truly suitable for some quality time together.  Tami’s roommates are extremely intrusive and Lip’s living situation is an adventure in itself.  After hearing an unidentified scratching in Lip’s walls, I’m not really sure that Tami can adjust to the Gallagher lifestyle, but we’ll have to wait and see what’s next for these two.

4

“I love surprises.”

Well sure, Frank, surprises can be fun.  However, I’m not sure that even Frank was ready for his girlfriend, Ingrid, played by Katey Sagal, to announce that she is now ready to finally be a mother.  This doesn’t scare Frank off; however, as he is on board to fertilize Ingrid’s eggs and bring us a whole new “menswear line.”  Frank soon realizes that he is down to a lone swimmer; however, and decides to take Carl’s “sample” to ensure that they have the best possible chances.  And just when I thought that Frank couldn’t hit a new low.  Well, perhaps fatherhood will finally agree with him this time around.

3

“OK whatever the f*ck that is.”

It seems like love is in the air, as Carl continues to flourish in his new relationship with Kelly, played by Jess Gabor.  I have to admit that these two are absolutely adorable with their romance and they even work in their military training as well.  We know how much Carl loves new business ventures and he can’t help himself when he sees an opportunity in front of him with public scooters.  Carl and Kelly begin taking as many scooters as possible and “renting” them out to make some quick cash.  After a woman threatens to call the Better Business Bureau on Carl, he hilariously says, “OK whatever the f*ck that is.”

2

“No one’s playing soccer.”

During the episode, Kev and V are beyond excited to meet their new foster son, Santiago, or “KJ Ball.”  While Kev is hoping that Santiago is into baseball over soccer, they soon realize that their new son does not speak any English, but he does have a lovely singing voice and can sing “The Star Spangled Banner” quite well.  After Kev and V finally get someone to translate, they learn that Santiago has been separated from his family and realize that they need to help him reunite with them because it’s the right thing to do.  Although Santiago definitely “brought the heat” when it came to his curve ball.

1

“I’m a fun person!  I like to have fun!”

Well sure, Fiona, we know that you like to have fun, but I have to say that I am quite concerned about your recent behavior.  During the episode, Fiona continues on her downward spiral, as she hits even lower than rock bottom.  Fiona has been drinking way too much and even tries out her graffiti skills to make her point, but it doesn’t seem like she is keeping it together at all.  At work, she insults customers and focuses on the disgusting gum under the table, rather than deal with the disaster of her own situation, but I’m hoping that her family can intervene and help get her back on track.  Based on the previews for new episodes, it looks like Irish Ford will make another guest appearance, but is Fiona finally ready to face him?  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 8 Mid-Season Finale: “There’s A Storm Coming”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 8 Mid-Season Finale, we were presented with some legitimately creepy scenes that had me on the edge of my seat.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Evolution,” Daryl, Jesus, Aaron, and Dog go out looking for Eugene, but find a walker herd that is nowhere near normal.  Meanwhile, the new characters try to earn their keep and Negan’s world is about to change.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 8 Mid-Season Finale are:

5

“We’re a solid looking group.”

In the beginning of the episode, Michonne continues to escort the new characters to Hilltop, but we know that trust is not so easily earned.  Tara seems willing to give the new characters a shot, but reminds them that they will need to earn their keep.  I have to admit that I am actually looking forward to getting to know the new characters now.  A lot of them seem to have potential and perhaps they can liven things up just a little bit.  I mean anything is more interesting than Henry being peer pressured by the “cool kids” at Hilltop.

4

“It’s good we’re here.”

After Michonne learns that Carol is at Hilltop too and Daryl is not far away, Tara points out that “it’s like the gang’s back together.”  A lot has clearly changed; however, as Carol initially doesn’t seem that thrilled to see Michonne.  Carol still seems to believe in a better world and building a community, but Michonne reminds her that they are living in a broken world and that they have to take care of their own.  I am still wondering what happened to Michonne to make her so jaded and untrusting of everyone?

3

“They have no idea what they’re dealing with.”

With almost perfect timing, Rosita wakes up and freaks out when she finds out that Daryl and the others went after Eugene.  Rosita explains that they don’t know what they are dealing with and she’s absolutely right.  After finding Eugene in the barn, he tries to explain his own theories on the potential evolution of the walkers and says that he heard them whispering.  Daryl doesn’t really know what to make of this until he witnesses this behavior on his own, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are all in serious danger right now.

2

“I loved the shit out of TV when that was a thing.”

I hear you on that Negan!  It initially seemed like we were just going to get some more banter between Negan and another character.  Negan gives Gabriel a hard time about Rosita and even tries to plant some doubt in his head to provide himself with some entertainment that doesn’t involve him throwing a ball at a wall.  After all, “all work and no play makes Negan a dull villain.”  After Gabriel gets upset about Rosita, Negan’s jail cell is carelessly left slightly open and Negan takes his first steps out into the open.  Freedom looks good on you Negan.

1

“Let’s get em…”

Daryl stands alone to give the others a chance to get Eugene out of there, but he does have Dog by his side, who is starting to be my favorite character.  Seriously do not let anything happen to this dog.  Daryl tries to create a distraction, but the herd of walkers continues to go after Eugene and the others.  It’s almost like they could sense that Daryl’s distraction was a trap and the storm has now arrived, providing us with the perfect ominous soundtrack.  Eugene and the others wind up in a beyond creepy cemetery, which I have to say was kind of brilliant.  I have not been scared on TWD for quite some time and I actually felt a bit nervous during this scene, especially when the characters were surrounded by whispers.  Michonne and some of the new characters show up to help get them out of the cemetery and Jesus tries to hold off the walkers with his impressive ninja skills.  Everything is happening so fast, but we do cut to a scene in slow motion, as one of the walkers stabs Jesus with his knife and whispers, “You are where you do not belong.”  Poor Jesus has drawn the short stick in this shocking moment.  Daryl discovers that the killer was actually a human with a walker mask to make things even more complicated.  “The Whisperers” have arrived and are a new and dangerous threat.  Overall, I thought that the episode delivered in the last fifteen minutes.  However, there was so much fluff surrounding it.  I seriously don’t care about Henry and his teen adventures.  We have several new setups for the second half of the season, which I am looking forward to explore.  So what can we expect from the second half of season 9?  I’m hoping that we abandon the unnecessary fluff and focus on “The Whisperers,” Negan, the “X” marks, and the past of the new characters.  New episodes return in February.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 7: “What Makes Us Stronger”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 7, we were left with more unanswered questions, as we approach the mid-season finale next Sunday.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Stradivarius,” Rosita is found near Hilltop and is clearly traumatized after dealing with some rather motivated walkers.  Meanwhile, Daryl now has a dog named “Dog” and Michonne eliminates a violin that was looking shifty.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 7 are:

5

“You’re just gonna have to trust me.”

In the beginning of the episode, Michonne continues to lead the new characters to Hilltop, but they are a little hesitant about trusting her.  Michonne clearly still has her guard up, even though she is fulfilling her promise to Judith.  The new characters seem like they have good intentions and even show off just how useful they can be when they help take out the surrounding walkers.  We know that trust is not always earned so easily, however.

4

“I left him.”

Rosita shows up near the Hilltop camp and is injured and traumatized.  She explains that Eugene is still out there and that she left him in some kind of barn.  We know that Eugene had hurt his leg, but we have no idea what is going on where he is.  The walkers are getting smarter, but will they be able to find Eugene in his hiding spot?  We’ll have to wait to find out, but it looks like we will get to witness some more of the evolution of the walkers in next week’s mid-season finale.

3

“You could at least pretend to be happy.”

Meanwhile, we learn that Jesus is now the leader of Hilltop, but he does receive a letter from Maggie, which means she is safe.  I was a little confused about where she was and thought perhaps I missed something until Michonne also asked about her whereabouts.  We get a vague answer about her taking Hershel with her to help build some other community, but when will we see her again?  We know that Lauren Cohan plans to leave after this season, but is this supposed to be her exit or will we get something more concrete?

2

“This is the one thing that separates us from the animals.”

As we get to know the new characters more, Michonne demonstrates just how little she trusts them when she eliminates Luke’s violin.  Michonne assumed that Luke had a weapon, but Luke tries to explain the importance of music and art to her.  Luke feels like it’s what separates us from the animals and I have to say that he’s right, as he almost takes a page out of Fear the Walking Dead’s book.  Bringing people together sounds a lot like Rick’s vision, but is Michonne finally ready to get back to that?

1

“After a while it just got easier to stay out here.”

Carol takes her son to go visit Daryl and we learn that Daryl has a new best friend…named Dog.  I guess Daryl didn’t really see the point of naming him, but I was happy to see that he at least had someone keeping him company.  In a touching moment, Carol gives Daryl a much needed haircut and they talk about how they never found Rick’s body.  Daryl has clearly not given up on Rick, but he found it easier to stay out on his own.  After a close call with some walkers, Daryl and Dog are OK and he agrees to escort Carol to Hilltop.  After finding out about Eugene, Daryl is ready to go out and track him, proving that perhaps he is finally ready to be around people again.  It’s also important to note that Daryl has the same “X” mark as Michonne, which is only increasing my curiosity.  While I’m not sure we will find out about it in next week’s mid-season finale, it’s definitely something that needs to be explored soon.  Overall, this episode felt very much like a place holder for next week’s mid-season finale, but it did have some redeeming moments.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” season 8 episode 10 Season Finale: “But my Sisters are a Legion Motherf*cker”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the FX network’s American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 10 season finale last night, the final battle we have all been waiting for is finally here.  Only it may not be the showdown that you were initially predicting.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Apocalypse Then,” the past finally meets the present, as the witches of coven face Michael Langdon.  Sacrifices are made and betrayals are finally dealt with in this jam-packed finale.  My top 5 moments from American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 10 season finale are:

5

“So this is goodbye.”

In the beginning of the episode, we witness Myrtle Snow paying a visit to Jeff and Mutt.  This further explains how the witches were able to successfully book Coco and Mallory a reservation at Outpost 3.  Myrtle puts Ms. Venable in her place and reminds her that purple is for royalty.  Later on, Cordelia explains to the girls that they will forget everything they know about themselves.  Coco’s new personality is actually modeled after Madison, which explains a lot and Madison hilariously tells her to “consider it an upgrade.”  Coco is meant to be mean to Mallory, as Cordelia needs to ensure that Mallory doubts herself so that her powers are not detected, revealing that she really has thought of every detail here.  She further explains that her “powers will emerge when they are ready.”  We also get to see Cordelia, Myrtle, and Madison waking up after the apocalypse, proving our theory that they would use the healing powers of the Louisiana swamps.  After all, “it’s time.”

4

“There is no way that bitch could get a show on television without selling her soul to the devil.”

After Madison shows off her less than impressive skills as an Uber driver, she drops off Coco and Mallory, who are now under the identity spell.  Madison notices Dinah’s billboard on a bus and quickly realizes that she is the one who sold them out.  Madison wants to do something about it, but Cordelia explains that Dinah must stay safe until they are ready to “make her pay.”  In present day, Dinah refuses to get caught in the middle of the battle between the witches and Michael, but we are all in for a surprise when Marie Laveau walks in, played by the wonderful Angela Bassett, and says, “She needed the help of a voodoo queen but that ain’t you.”  Cordelia made a deal with Papa and gave him Dinah’s soul, freeing Marie in exchange.  Marie takes out Dinah and tells her to give Papa her regards.  All hail the real voodoo queen!

3

“It’s payback bitch.”

Now that all of our players are in place, the battle we have all been waiting for quickly begins.  Ms. Mead is eliminated and Madison channels her inner Tony Montana from Scarface, as she opens fire on Michael with Ms. Mead’s arm.  Madison agrees to hold off Michael as long as she can, but is quickly eliminated.  “I guess it’s back to retail.”  Marie and Coco also team up to take Michael down, but he kills them both and reminds us, “I’m nothing like normal.”  Brock also finally shows up again and brutally stabs Mallory for not taking him on the plane, but Myrtle takes him out.  As Mallory’s life force begins pouring out of her, Cordelia knows what she must do to protect her sisters and the world.  It seems like all hope is lost, but Cordelia faces Michael with her head held high and reminds him that he may be the only son of Satan, but “my sisters are a legion motherf*cker!”  Cordelia stabs herself so that Mallory can rise as the next Supreme and complete her time travel spell, which is the ultimate sacrifice.

2

“I’m scared.”

It’s 2015 and Michael is just a boy again, living with Constance Langdon.  As Michael heads out into the street, Mallory runs him over with a car several times to eliminate the threat once and for all.  Constance stands over him and Michael begs her to take him back into Murder House so that they can be together forever, but Constance refuses to grant his last wish and tells him to go to hell.  The ultimate battle we have all been waiting for is over, but it’s not the showdown we were predicting.  Mallory has changed the timeline to save her sisters and also the world, but what does this mean for the rest of the AHS universe?  After all, changing the past can have unforeseen consequences for the future.

1

“The battle between good and evil never ends.”

Now that the threat is eliminated, Mallory returns to her coven and remembers everything.  She is so excited to see Cordelia again and Cordelia even asks her if they have met before.  Myrtle is not back because Cordelia no longer saw the threat of the end of the world and Madison will have to “sweat it out a little longer” in her retail hell.  Mallory was able to get some “blazing street cred” with creatures of the underworld since she took down the Antichrist and Misty and Nan are safely returned.  Only Nan would prefer to return to her Papa.  I guess as long as she is happy.  Mallory reminds us that the battle between good and evil never ends and we know that there needs to always be a balance in the world.  Avoiding the apocalypse does explain how we are able to see the year 2020 in AHS Hotel, which successfully fills in some gaps for us.  Timothy and Emily are able to cross paths again in this new world, which initially seems sweet and romantic.  Remember them?  Only we know that they were saved because of their DNA and that they were worthy of potentially repopulating the earth.  Emily gives birth to the new Antichrist, as they are horrified when they find his babysitter brutally murdered.  Ms. Mead and the Black Pope knock on their door, recognizing the power and potential in their son, proving that evil has indeed found its loophole.  Stay tuned for season 9!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on American Horror Story:  Apocalypse below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 6: “I Haven’t Given Up”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 6, Michonne reminded us that “the path ahead has only grown darker.”  That may be more accurate than she realizes, as we are now faced with a world in the future without our beloved Rick Grimes.  But even though there is darkness, there is still hope present or “flashes of light.”  While these flashes are enough to keep Michonne going, are they enough to continue to capture our undivided attention?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Who Are You Now?” Judith rescues several strangers and wants to bring them back to Alexandria.  Meanwhile, Michonne tries to cope with life without Rick, Carol sports a new hairdo, and Gabriel has somehow become the new Rico Suave of the community.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 6 are:

5

“We owe our lives to Miss Grimes here.”

In the beginning of the episode, Judith rescues several strangers from a group of walkers, but she wants to help them even further because it is the right thing to do.  Even though some of the others feel hesitant about bringing the strangers back to Alexandria, Judith is quite convincing and has become worthy of wearing Carl’s hat for sure.  That being said, she is still just a child so I’m wondering why she has so much influence over the others, but her heart does seem to be in the right place.  Let’s just hope these people don’t take advantage of her good nature.

4

“Give me a question from right here right now.”

Even though Judith is growing up in a very different world, Michonne still tries to provide her with structure.  After she trains her to fight, Judith is expected to do homework.  She goes to Negan for help with her math assignment, which is beyond strange.  Negan is still held in the cell, but he definitely has a soft spot for her.  We know that Negan was very fond of Carl as well and it seems like Judith may be his last chance at possible redemption, as he sort of takes on that weird Uncle vibe.  Judith does not seem afraid of him and even tries to put him in his place.  I guess he does need to brush up on his math skills.  What’s next for Negan?  I’m not sure, but I’m looking for some further development of his character especially since Rick is gone now.

3

“Don’t make this weird.”

Gabriel gets some more screen time and we learn that he is now romantically involved with Rosita.  As much as I like Rosita, I am not really feeling these two together.  What’s with Gabriel having the most awkward relationships possible?  First, Anne/Jadis and now Rosita.  There is still plenty of time for me to try and like these two together, but I am not seeing the chemistry just yet.  Later on, Rosita goes out with Eugene and they wind up in trouble.  Rosita hilariously tells Eugene, “Don’t make this weird” and I was pretty much thinking the same thing when I saw her kissing Gabriel.  I guess I still need to get used to that.  Rosita and Eugene have a close call with a horde of walkers and camouflage themselves with mud to remain unseen.  They manage to stay undetected, but we hear the walkers talking?  One of them says, “Don’t let them get away” so I guess this is the start of some kind of evolution for the walkers, but we’ll have to stay tuned to find out more about that.

2

“I remember.”

In the beginning of the episode, we witness Michonne narrating and she finds a small action figure that reminds her of Rick.  This moment is touching and it seems like Michonne is trying to keep going for Judith and for her son.  Wait…what?  Well this doesn’t come as a surprise because we know that Rick and Michonne talked about having a baby, but now we know that the legacy of Rick Grimes will continue on.  Michonne has clearly been through a lot after Rick and is even sporting some kind of “X” scar on her back.  What does this mark mean and how did she get it?  I will say that this is somewhat holding my attention more than Michonne putting the new strangers on a sort of trial to determine if they can stay in Alexandria.  Michonne clearly has trust issues, but I’d like to find out more about that.

1

“Hey there boss lady.”

During the episode, we also learn that Carol and Ezekiel are married and Henry is their adopted son.  While I want Carol to be happy, I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed because I still ultimately want her to be with Daryl.  That being said, Carol does look great with her flowing long hair, but that does not mean that she has lost her edge.  Carol and Henry take the horses out and run into trouble when they come across a group of former Saviors.  Carol gives up their supplies and even parts with her wedding ring, but Henry is upset by this.  Carol tries to explain to him that he’ll understand someday, as Carol’s priorities have changed now that she has a son to take care of.  That being said, Carol decides to show the Saviors who the real “boss lady” is when she later returns to them and sets them on fire.  I have to say that this was definitely the best part of the episode for me.  While there is still a lot of focus on change and bringing communities together, Carol reminded us that she is a force to be reckoned with.  More of this please!  Stay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 5: “I Found Them”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 5, the moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived, but it’s not the moment we truly expected.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “What Comes After,” Rick is severely wounded and desperately tries to get away from the persistent walker horde following him, as he slips in and out of consciousness, crossing paths with his friends in the afterlife.  Meanwhile, Maggie finally faces Negan and Jadis continues to talk to the mysterious man on the helicopter.  Please note that my top moments will all feature Rick, although I would like to point out that Maggie’s conversation with Negan was truly significant.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 5 are:

5

“Goddamn cowboy, you look like shit!”

Rick is still holding on, but is in immediate danger.  He desperately tries to stay awake, but his mind continues to slip somewhere else, allowing us the chance to catch up with some of our favorite old characters who are no longer with us.  First up…Shane!  Shane is my absolute favorite character of the entire series and I was devastated after his exit.  That being said, perhaps he knew that he was going to kick some serious ass as “The Punisher” so I guess it all worked out in the end.  Rick and Shane have always been like brothers and their reunion picks up right where they left off.  Shane even brings up Judith and asks, “How is my baby girl by the way?”  Shane has always been the “asshole,” but somehow their friendship is still natural and real despite all of the ugliness and drama between these two.  Rick is “looking for his family” and answers, but Shane reminds him to dig down and find the rage within him.  He tells Rick to wake up, as Rick continues to fight and try and escape the walkers that keep coming.  In a way, Shane represents that anger and rage that Rick has had to release on multiple occasions to stay alive.  While Rick has not always made the best decisions because of it, it allowed him to survive.  Perhaps he needed a reminder about that now.

4

“My girl, she’s strong and my grandson…he’ll only make her stronger.”

After scraping by the next obstacle, Rick continues on with his vision quest of sorts and is with Hershel on the farm.  The sun is absolutely breathtaking in the sky and everything seems so calm and peaceful here.  This scene was difficult to watch, especially since Scott Wilson recently passed away, but Rick has always looked to Hershel as his own kind of personal moral compass.  Hershel has always been wise and reminds Rick that Maggie will be OK on her own and tries to tell Rick that he only thinks he needs to find his family.  Hershel clearly represents loyalty and family to Rick, inspiring him with goodness and faith to keep going.

3

“You did your part like I did mine.”

After Rick flashes to some kind of afterlife, surrounded by corpses, he crosses paths with Sasha.  Sasha tries to remind Rick that he did his part and that every single one of them gives us strength.  Sasha further explains, “We help each other.  We make each other better and it never ends.”  Rick is still confused and says that it feels like the end to him, but Sasha reveals, “Little things do end, but it’s never the end of everything.  It’s about all of us.  Your family, they’re not lost.  And you are not lost.”  This part really resonated with me, as Sasha tries to get through to Rick about what it’s all about.  Life is about the people we care about and our actions do matter.  We can all continue to inspire one another and even when we’re gone, we can live on in memories and in the lives of those we have touched.

2

“Because you’re a fighter and you never give up.  Fight for me.”

After Rick’s horse finally abandons him, Rick continues on foot and tries to make it to the bridge.  He imagines all of his friends coming to his rescue, but he is there alone.  Rick creates a conversation with Michonne in his mind, who tells him that she loves him because he is a fighter and never gives up.  Michonne keeps Rick’s love and hope alive here, as he continues to stay true to himself and fight.  I was surprised that we did not see Carl, Glenn, or Lori at all, but I do think that each character we did see represented a part of Rick, reminding him about who he is and what he can still do.

1

“I found them.”

As Rick makes his way to the bridge, his friends now finally catch up to him and try to help him.  Daryl continues to keep the walkers away from Rick, one arrow at a time, and Michonne tries to run toward him, but Rick tries to tell them to stay away.  Rick spots the dynamite and knows what he must do to protect his family.  He lures the walkers on to the bridge and takes out his gun, staying true to who he is…a hero.  Rick blows up the bridge to save his friends and should have gone out in a blaze of glory.  Michonne and Daryl’s reactions were truly heartbreaking, as my own heart shattered as well.  However, there is always some kind of twist on TWD. Rick is somehow OK and washes up to Jadis, formerly known as Anne.  Jadis wants to help Rick because he has helped her in the past and tells the man in the helicopter that she has a “B.”  Again, what makes an “A” or a “B?”  I have no idea, but Rick is taken away on the helicopter and actually makes it out alive!

I don’t know about you, but I was actually really disappointed with this.  As much as I love Rick Grimes and want to see him alive, this sort of felt like a cop-out to me.  Rick had the chance to save all of his friends and leave this world as a true hero.  We know that Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show and will now appear in some Walking Dead movies so I guess that’s a positive, but where does that leave the series?  To make matters even more confusing, we get a time jump that shows bad-ass Judith saving people from walkers while wearing Carl’s hat.  While it’s great to see that she takes after her father and brother, I’m not sure I’m ready to invest in another time jump.  I kind of just want to follow that helicopter and see what’s going on with Rick.  Either way, the episode was done brilliantly and I appreciated the seamless transitions into Rick’s mind.  Rick will always be the very essence of this show for me.  We will all miss you Rick Grimes, but I guess we’ll see you soon in your movies!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4: “I’d Die For You”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 4, I realized that everyone handles their loneliness in different ways.  While some of us keep busy with a routine, others try and make a connection, desperately reaching out for someone to listen to us.  But what happens when there is no one left to listen?  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Obliged,” the communities begin to divide even further, disrupting Rick’s vision for them to all live together in peace and harmony.  Meanwhile, Jesus is concerned about Maggie’s actions, Negan requests an audience with Michonne, and Rick and Daryl clash even further after Rick’s “merry band of bridge builders” falls apart.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 4 are:

5

“I’m gonna make things right.”

Maggie tells Jesus that she is going to make things right like they talked about and is ready to head off to Alexandria to see Negan.  Jesus is very concerned about Maggie, as he wants to make sure that she is thinking clearly and doing things for the right reasons.  While Maggie clearly has her mind made up, Jesus tries to intervene and contacts Rick, warning him about what she is about to potentially do.  Is Maggie ready to finally face Negan?  We’ll have to wait to find out, but it looks like she is not turning back now.

4

“But if anything gives me hope…it’s you.”

Rick is disappointed to see the communities falling apart despite his best effort to keep them all united.  Rick has a touching moment with Carol, which we can now think of as a goodbye.  Rick reveals that he’s not sure that they are doing the right thing, but that he has hope in Carol, who is ready to lead her people back to “The Kingdom.”  Carol explains that she is just trying to figure things out like everybody else, but Carol is someone extraordinary.  On the way back, Carol proves to be a leader and someone you do not want to mess with, reminding everyone around her that she is strong and fully capable of taking care of herself and her people.

3

“You’re the price of admission.”

We get some more screen time for Gabriel and Anne, as Anne explains that Gabriel is the “price of admission” into this mysterious new place she is headed to.  Gabriel doesn’t give up here, even though Anne is about to sick a walker on him while he is tied up.  Gabriel says, “You’re afraid but you don’t have to be.”  He reminds Anne that she has changed and that he is a better person because of her.  Gabriel further tells Anne that he thinks he failed her and that he forgives her.  Just as the walker is about to devour Gabriel, Anne pulls it away, saving Gabriel’s life.  Anne cannot go through with this and ends up knocking Gabriel out and leaving him behind.  Gabriel is only left with a note and Anne explains, “If you want to go fast…go alone.  I need to go fast.”  Gabriel is completely heartbroken in this moment.  It’s actually surprising that he is so upset, considering the fact that Anne almost turned him into an afternoon snack for the garbage walker.  Gabriel clearly cares about Anne tremendously and has made an impact on her, as she was not able to hurt him.  Perhaps she is better off alone, but will her time with Gabriel make her second question everything?

2

“We are not the same.”

Michonne’s daily routine is interrupted when she finds out that Negan has been refusing to eat.  After paying him a visit, Negan requests to have a conversation with Michonne.  Michonne reluctantly agrees and tells Negan that while they are rebuilding, he is continuing to rot in there.  While Michonne handles things with action, Negan is a master of words, manipulating and impacting Michonne more than she could have ever anticipated.  Negan opens up to Michonne about his wife dying from cancer and they even both speak about Carl.  Michonne further opens up about her son, Andre, which is clearly difficult for her to talk about.  Negan is desperately looking for any kind of connection, as anything is better than nothing and tries to tell Michonne that they are the same.  Michonne refuses to admit this, but does Negan have a point?  Negan escalates things further when he demands to see his beloved bat, “Lucille,” but Michonne says it isn’t there.  But perhaps Negan has been getting in Michonne’s head for quite some time, as she continues to see his “bat” everywhere, even in Judith’s children’s book.

1

“Brother…take my hand.”

After Rick finds out about Maggie’s intentions, Daryl conveniently offers to give him a ride.  Only Daryl has no intention of stopping Maggie.  Rick quickly realizes what is going on and demands that Daryl pull over.  The tension that has been building between these two finally erupts, as they begin fighting each other, ending up trapped in a ditch.  Now that they are away from everyone, Rick and Daryl finally take a moment to talk about their feelings.  Daryl tells him about what the Oceanside people did and asks Rick if he forgot that Glenn was the one who initially saved him.  Rick explains that if Negan dies, he will become a martyr and then Carl died for nothing.  Daryl says that he’d die for Rick and that he would have died for Carl too, but that Rick is chasing something for him that isn’t meant to be.  Daryl begs Rick to let go of Carl, but is Rick really able to do so?  When they hear cries from the camp, Rick and Daryl finally put their differences aside and work together to get out of the pit.  Rick takes Daryl’s hand and calls him his brother, saving him.  After seeing the horde of walkers quickly approaching, Rick gets on the horse to lead them away, bringing us full circle, as Rick was initially on a horse in the series premiere.  Daryl tells him to “be safe,” but we all know what is coming next.  The horse gets spooked and throws Rick off of him, as Rick hits his head and is injured severely, completely surrounded by oncoming walkers.  There’s no way Rick is getting out of this one, but we’ll have to wait for next week to find out how it ends.  Stay tuned for Rick’s last episode!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 3: “Every Life Counts”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 3, I almost felt like I was playing a game of “Clue,” as Rick and the others try to figure out who is responsible for Justin’s death.  Was it Daryl with an arrow in the woods?  Seems too obvious, especially since we know that Daryl is not one for hiding his true intentions.  I’m not sure there is a candlestick lying around, but someone should be able to get to the bottom of this.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Warning Signs,” tensions continue to run high between the communities, as everyone learns that former Saviors are being targeted.  Meanwhile, Rick tries to have a nice day off with his family, but quickly learns that the bridge is not the only thing in danger of collapsing, as friendships are tested.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 3 are:

5

“Thank you for you.”

In the beginning of the episode, Michonne confides in Rick and tells him that “everyone isn’t all in yet,” recognizing that Maggie and Daryl are still angry.  Rick tries to stay positive and tells her that “they’ll get there…just like we did,” but does he really think so?  Richonne has a beautiful moment together, as they spend the day with Judith and Rick once again takes a moment to thank Michonne for everything she has done.  Rick tells Michonne, “I can think of another way to build for the future,” implying that he is ready to have another baby.  After last night’s episode, we know that Rick Grimes has only two more episodes remaining.  I guess this would be a way for the famous Rick Grimes to live on, creating a legacy after he is gone.

4

“Us means all of us.”

Well sure it’s a nice sentiment, but I’m not sure that the communities can continue to sing “Kumbaya” when people are turning up dead or missing.  After discovering that Justin is dead, tensions continue to run high, as everyone begins to point fingers at each other, assigning blame and escalating the situation.  It’s only a matter of time before this turns into a riot, but can Rick continue to keep the peace?  When we see walker Justin headed out to the woods, there is a message written on a house that says, “Final Warning.”  This is not the first time we have seen writing on the wall this season, but our culprits don’t seem ready to step out into the open just yet.

3

“I need to honor them.”

Since we know that Rick’s time is limited, it has given us the opportunity to finally understand what is going through his mind, as he is more inclined to share than he used to be.  Rick talks about not killing Negan, even though he may have initially wanted to, reminding us that “every life counts.”  Rick talks about remembering everyone they have lost before and he feels a need to honor them and to build life, rather than take it.  It’s “us or the dead,” but I’m not sure that everyone else is ready to embrace this outlook on life.  However, I can absolutely appreciate where Rick is coming from, as he desperately tries to keep his future going, holding on to even the smallest glimmer of hope in the middle of all this darkness and chaos.  Will anyone try to continue this vision after Rick is gone?  I’m hoping so, but it seems like the people closest to Rick are not necessarily on board yet.  Will it take Rick’s death for them to finally see it all or will all be lost once he is gone?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

2

“I lied to him for you.”

As things continue to escalate, blame is thrown Anne’s way, but Gabriel lies to Rick and tells him that she was with him all night.  Gabriel desperately wants to see the good in Anne, but he is no fool either.  He follows Anne/Jadis back to the dump and discovers that she is talking to someone over the radio.  Anne had spotted the mysterious helicopter and we know that they have another place to go, but I’m not sure we got too many answers here.  Anne/Jadis tries to ask the man over the radio if he was responsible for taking the people, but is told no.  Anne is informed that she needs to provide him with an “A,” but what really is an “A” or a “B?”  After trying to get Gabriel to go with her willingly, Gabriel says no and explains that he cannot betray Rick and the others.  Jadis decides to take him with her anyway against his will, commenting that she didn’t realize he was an “A.”  So if it is not predetermined, does it have something to do with someone’s moral compass?  If Gabriel just agreed to abandon his friends and go with her, he would be a “B,” a follower.  But since he stood up to her, he is now considered an “A,” a leader?  I’m just guessing here, but I’m looking forward to a further explanation about everything we just witnessed.  The Walking Dead tends to stretch things out as long as they can, but I’m looking for some concrete answers now.

1

“Why do they get this future and Glenn don’t?

As the game of “Clue” continues to escalate, Rick speaks to Daryl and tells him that the wound resembled an arrow wound.  Even though he doesn’t believe that Daryl did this, he still wants to find out the truth.  Daryl asks Rick why the former Saviors get a chance at this future when Glenn, Sasha, and Abraham will never see it.  While Rick is trying to honor everyone who died with his new future, Daryl has a different idea on how to do this.  We eventually learn that some of the Oceanside people, followed by Cyndee, are responsible for Justin’s death.  They are looking to get their own form of justice and Maggie and Daryl carefully listen to both sides.  Maggie and Daryl ultimately decide to walk away as the next former Savior is killed, which now creates a much bigger divide.  It’s one thing to have the communities on edge, but Maggie and Daryl are like family to Rick.  Now that they have chosen a different path, everything is about to change.  Maggie comments that they gave Rick’s way a chance and that they are off to see the Wizard…no wait to see Negan.  I thought I’d throw that in there especially since Rick was reading “The Wizard of Oz” to Judith.  Now that everything has changed, it’s only a matter of time before Rick gets caught in the crossfire.  Stay tuned for Rick’s last two episodes!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 7: “I’m So Far Up Shit’s Creek I Don’t Even Have Lunch Money”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 7, Lip reminded us that every Gallagher is a “problem child,” but at least they can rely on one another to support each other when in need.  Even when they hit rock bottom, another Gallagher is there to pick up the pieces, reminding us that they may be far from the perfect family, but they all love each other very much.  Well maybe Frank is a lost cause, but you get the idea.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Down Like the Titanic,” Fiona’s world continues to spiral out of control.  Meanwhile, Carl learns a new word, Kev wants a baby, and Lip crosses paths with Tami again, bringing back his “Jabby” nickname as well.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 7 are:

5

“I never realized how much fun indoor tobogganing could be.”

Me either Ingrid, but I am sort of itching to try it out now.  Frank continues his adventure with Ingrid and encourages her to stay off her meds, which leads to a lot of fun along the way.  Their dates consist of tobogganing down the stairs, Ingrid shaving Frank in the tub, and Frank getting the opportunity to try out being a therapist for the day with a distraction or two.  Ingrid’s ex-husband, Randy, tries to warn Frank that Ingrid is going to crash sooner or later and shows him the 14 stab wounds he has from when she was off her meds before, but Frank is not ready to let his crazy new love go just yet.  While Frank begins to detect signs that Ingrid is losing it, he is still convinced that she is not too much for him to handle and even has a heart-to-heart talk with Randy about it.  While I’m enjoying the fun these two are having, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before Ingrid’s behavior escalates, leading to unforeseen consequences, but is Frank up for the challenge?  We’ll have to wait and see.

“You guys invited Jabby?”

Tami is back, played by the wonderful Kate Miner, and she sure knows how to make an entrance at her nephew’s Christening.  Lip tries to initially avoid Tami, but she calls him out in front of the entire church, bringing the “Jabby” nickname back as well.  Tami is now ready to go on a date with Lip after initially insulting his sex game earlier and they actually seem to hit it off.  Tami now scores Lip a 6 out of 10 on his sex game, but he works his way up to a 9.5.  What’s next for these two?  I’m not sure, but it seems like Tami is a lot of fun and can perhaps snap Lip out of his funk.

3

“5 total or 5 per daughter?”

Kev is upset when he sees that V has bagged up all of the baby toys, ready to give it to her friend, Chantal.  Kev is not ready to part with everything yet, even though his daughters are now four.  Kev creates a “keep” and “not keep” pile and even gives us his own rendition of “I’m a little Teapot.”  After coming across a bear that has his voice recorded on it, Kev realizes that he is ready to have another baby, only V is not looking to have another kid.  At the end of the episode, V tells Kev that she is willing to adopt a baby, compromising with Kev and reminding us why we love these two together so much.

2

“She’s nonstop ugly crying.”

During the episode, Debbie is very worried about Fiona and discovers that she was in a car accident after learning about Ford being married.  Debbie is truly there for Fiona and helps her out as best she can.  When Debbie consoles Fiona, it’s almost like she has now become the big sister.  Fiona has been there for Debbie so many times before and it was truly heartwarming to see the role reversal here.  Fiona finally comes face to face with Max, who bails her out enough so that she can keep her credit intact, but Fiona is forced to move out with nothing, even leaving Rusty behind.  I’m hoping that she comes to her senses and brings her new friend back home with her, however.  Seriously who is going to take care of Rusty now?  Fiona continues to drink away the pain and actually makes grocery shopping seem fun and entertaining, as she gathers supplies and plenty of alcohol to throw herself a welcome home party at the Gallagher home.  Is Fiona ready to accept defeat once her buzz wears off?  We’ll have to wait and see, but it looks like Carl will not be able to move into his own room like he initially planned after all.

“What kind of torture are we talking?”

“True, brutal, and unrelenting.”  Well said Farhad.  Well said.  Debbie is not about to sit by and let Ford get away with hurting her sister.  She enlists the help of Farhad and Alex and tells them that they are three skilled laborers and that she wants to really make this one hurt.  Alex says she is in after learning that they can use power tools.  At the end of the episode, Debbie puts a blindfold on Fiona and brings her out to the street where they have constructed an enormous sign that says:  “This man is an asshole.”  Sure it gets the point across, but Ford is actually propped up in the middle of the sign with his bare ass hanging out.  Fiona chooses his form of punishment wisely and goes for the paint ball gun, firing away at Ford’s behind.  You should really never ever mess with a Gallagher.  What’s next for Fiona and the rest of the gang?  We’ll have to wait until January 20th 2019 for new episodes, but at least this season was extended from 12 episodes to 14, which means we have 7 more episodes to look forward to.  Something tells me that it will be worth the wait.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
