Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 2: “Why be hunted when you can be the Hunter?”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 2, Castiel reminded us that the past is not as important as the future and where you’re going.  While he has a valid point, it’s difficult to know where you are going when you don’t really understand where you came from.  So do you seek out answers or do you keep moving straight ahead?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Gods and Monsters,” Dean/Michael leaves a trail of corpses in Duluth to lure Sam in.  Meanwhile, Jack wants to know more about where he comes from, Castiel cannot comprehend a world without Dean, and Nick’s human memories torment him.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 2 are:

5

“Maybe these people aren’t people.”

During the episode, Sam, Mary, and other realm Bobby dust off their FBI suits and head off to Duluth to investigate the string of murders they have read about.  Other realm Bobby needs to work on his FBI lingo, but it seems like they are blending in well enough for now.  They soon discover that Dean/Michael has actually been killing vampires and track down a female vampire who somehow escaped for more information.  She tells them that it’s like Dean/Michael was experimenting on them, but why?  Later on, Dean/Michael lures in a werewolf and requests an audience with her master, interested in their way of life.  Dean/Michael is fascinated that they “kill to live” and further explains that there is “a purity in that.”  He offers the werewolves the opportunity to “enhance their talents,” but what does this entail exactly?  Is Michael trying to create a whole new breed of supernatural monsters to take over the world?  What else is he after?

4

“I own you so hang on and enjoy the ride.”

Michael seems to be enjoying walking around as Dean Winchester and he has really updated Dean’s wardrobe.  First the newsboy cap and now a polished tux, which really makes Dean look even more charming…if that were at all possible.  When Michael checks out his attire in the mirror, Dean tries to fight back within his reflection, but Michael reminds him that he owns him.  At least Dean is not sitting by quietly in the passenger seat while Michael takes the wheel.

3

“All I can see is the supreme agent of evil.”

When Sam takes off for Duluth, he asks Castiel to stay behind so that Michael cannot detect him.  Castiel agrees, but realizes that he will pretty much be “babysitting” Jack and Nick.  Sam explains that it’s not babysitting, but Castiel hilariously points out, “Only in the sense that they are not infants.”  Jack has lost his grace and Nick is a complete mess, but Sam thinks that Nick deserves a real chance.  When Castiel speaks with Nick, Nick wants answers about why he allowed Lucifer to occupy his body.  Castiel explains that “you were in a lot of pain and Lucifer exploited it.”  He further reminds Nick that he tragically lost his family, who were brutally murdered, and Lucifer took full advantage of Nick’s grief in this moment.  All of the horrible memories start to come crashing back and they seem to be too much for Nick to handle.  Nick has a few moments where it almost seems like he is not in control of his body so it makes me wonder if any part of Lucifer stayed behind?  Nick later tells Castiel that he is no different than Lucifer, but Castiel takes a real moment to tell him that he regrets what he did to Jimmy Novak and his family.  Castiel has developed so much over the years and truly understands what it means to have regrets and guilt.  Later on, Nick tries to track down leads about the killing of his family and ends up taking a hammer to an eye witness, violently killing him.  Nick is out of control and has taken things to the next level.  Is he acting out on his own or has Lucifer permanently destroyed any goodness within him?

2

“I hope someday to have a little of her courage and purpose.”

While “babysitting,” Castiel has better luck with Jack, who is still feeling lost and out of place without his grace.  His research tells us that his grace can come back within a month or within a century, which means that it might be quite a while for him.  Castiel explains that he understands what Jack is going through and further tells him that Sam and Dean spent years and years of failing and winning, which allowed them to develop over the years into the hunters they have now become.  He tells Jack that patience and persistence are skills too and reminds him that the past is not as important as the future.  Jack still has a desire to find out where he comes from and visits his grandparents.  Kelly’s parents have no idea that she is dead and Jack doesn’t have the heart to tell them.  They think that Jack was a former intern of Kelly’s, but they are so happy to share some memories with him and even take out an old photo album for him to see.  In a touching moment, Jack shares that Kelly did have the baby and that she “made him feel safe and wanted.”  His grandparents even comment that Jack kind of looks like their daughter and they ask him to please tell her how much they love and miss her.  This moment was truly important for Jack because there is so much of his mother’s goodness within him.  He recognizes that his path will not be an easy one, but he is hoping to make his mother proud and I think that he is absolutely taking a step in the right direction.

1

“Sammy…it’s me.”

After watching Supernatural for so many years, it’s become routine for Sam or Dean to wind up somewhere else at the end of a season, only to then safely return by episode 2 or 3 of the following one.  Season 14 is no different, as Dean returns to Sam without Michael at the end of the episode.  Dean explains that he just left, but Sam asks why and he has a point.  Michael has been making a lot of progress using Dean as his vessel, so why would he choose to abandon him now?  We know that he has spoken with the werewolf leader and has pretty much dominated the vampires, so what has changed?  When Sam, Mary, and other realm Bobby try to fight off the monsters, they realize that traditional methods for killing them are not working.  Has Michael already created his new breed of monsters?  If so, why abandon Dean now?  Michael is extremely intelligent and he seems to plan out every move with calculated precision.  Is this a part of his plan?  We’ll have to wait to find out, but I’m happy to have Dean back safe and sound for now.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 2: “Sounds Like Another Mystery To Solve”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 2, I thought about the quote:  “It is unfortunate that in most cases when the sins of the father fall on the son.”  Riverdale is known for keeping dark secrets, but what happens when they resurface, threatening the children of those who swore to keep them in the first place?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty-Seven:  Fortune and Men’s Eyes,” Archie has a rough time adjusting to life in jail, but tries to make a difference.  Meanwhile, Jughead and Betty tackle a new mystery, Veronica gets some advice from Cheryl, and Kevin tries to fit into Moose’s life.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 2 are:

5

“It was so real.”

After the cliffhanger last week, we find out that Betty is OK and that her seizure was triggered from stress.  Betty still believes that she saw her mother and sister holding the twins up above the fire, but Polly explains, “You must have just had a hallucination when you had the seizure.”  Betty is not entirely convinced; however, as it all seemed so real.  Later on, Alice has a touching moment with Betty and tells her that she just wants her to be safe, but something tells me that the Cooper family may be in real danger again.

4

“A little food for thought.”

Veronica is initially upset with Cheryl when she finds out that she is petitioning to be the class president in Archie’s absence.  A new rivalry stirs between them, but Cheryl suggests that Veronica should maybe “channel that rage into something more productive.”  Cheryl informs Veronica about “The Innocence Project” and thinks that Veronica should spend her time trying to free Archie from jail.  Later on, Veronica’s father puts her on a do not admit list so that she cannot visit Archie and Cheryl proves her worth again when she tells Veronica to use a fake name and ID.  Cheryl is absolutely brilliant and earns Veronica’s trust and support.  Perhaps everyone else should take a minute to listen to our favorite “Cheryl Bombshell.”

3

“You’re an animal in a cage.”

Archie tries to keep his head down in jail and meets his cell mate, Mad Dog, who tries to warn Archie about the danger all around him.  Mad Dog reminds him that he’s an animal in a cage and explains that he needs to become one before they kill him like one.  Archie tries to approach “The Serpents” with his fresh ink, but they are not too receptive of him when he refuses to attack a Ghoulie.  Archie tries out his motivational football pep talk on his fellow inmates and convinces them to participate in a friendly game of football, taking a page from Orange Is The New Black’s book.  Mad Dog even stands by Archie and supports him and it looks like Archie may make a difference after all.  Veronica and the cheerleaders show up and give a spirited performance of “Jail House Rock” on the other side of the fence to get the boys motivated and it seems like the day will end well.  That is until Hiram Lodge gets involved.  The warden is in Hiram’s “pocket” and orders his guards to put a stop to the football game, suggesting it was a riot started by Archie.  When Archie returns to his cell, he is told that Mad Dog was killed in the riot, but he was not even there.  Things get even more complicated when the warden tells Archie that he will be his new “mad dog.”  What exactly does this entail and what has Archie gotten himself into now?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

2

“Have more romantic words ever been spoken?”

Our favorite duo is back in action, as Jughead and Betty team up to solve a brand new mystery.  Yay Bughead!  After coming across the ritual site, Dilton is pronounced dead and Ben is in a coma.  There is also another boy missing, but Jughead and Betty are not about to just leave this up to the cops to figure out.  After paying a visit to the morgue, Jughead and Betty are told that this is the work of the “true face of evil.”  We learn that it’s darker than the murder of Jason Blossom and the crimes of the Black Hood, catching us Riverdale fans up to speed and reminding us that a new season means a new mystery.  It looks like Jughead and Betty have a lot of work to do, but I feel much better knowing that they are on the case.

1

“We made a pact to never revisit that night.”

After finding out that Ethel is somehow involved, Jughead and Betty learn that Dilton had a secret bunker in Fox Forest.  Jughead and Betty come face to face with “The Gargoyle King” and Betty realizes that she is not hallucinating anymore when Jughead tells her he sees the same thing.  Who is the Gargoyle King?  I’m not sure, but Evelyn Evernever’s first appearance in this episode cannot be a coincidence.  When Jughead and Betty make it inside the secret bunker, they discover that the victims were playing some type of game called “Griffins and Gargoyles.”  While it seems like some kind of version of “Dungeons and Dragons,” this role-playing game is clearly more dangerous than anyone realized.  Jughead and Betty learn that cyanide was a part of the game, explaining the blue lips of Dilton and Ben.  They quickly find the missing kid who was a kind of apprentice to Dilton, but the threat is nowhere near over.    To make this mystery even more complicated, we witness a meeting of all the parents in Riverdale who seem to know what they are dealing with.  Tom Keller reminds everyone that they made a pact to never revisit that night, which only leads to more unanswered questions.  Hermione warns everyone that their children are in danger, but how are they all involved?  At the end of the episode, Ethel also has a seizure and Ben decides to jump out the window, creating even more confusion and putting that much more on Jughead and Betty’s plate.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” season 8 episode 6: “What the F*ck Happened in this House?”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the FX network’s American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 6 last night, the episode we have all been waiting for has finally arrived and it was everything we could have asked for and more.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Return to Murder House,” Madison and Behold play house and are determined to find out more about Michael Langdon.  Meanwhile, it’s like the high school reunion you actually want to attend, as we get to catch up with our favorite characters from season one and detect some fun Easter eggs along the way.  My top 5 moments from American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 6 are:

5

“We look like the worst possible versions of Heidi Klum and Seal.”

In the beginning of the episode, Madison and Behold arrive at Murder House and are ready to temporarily move in to speak to the spirits residing there.  Madison’s black ensemble when she first walks up the steps is absolutely fabulous and she is ready for her second chance.  Madison and Behold’s partnership is absolutely delightful, as Behold reminds her that he had to put on khakis, so it’s a hard day for everyone.  Seriously can we give these two their own show?  After Madison hilariously exclaims that she is ready to make some babies in her new home, the realtor explains that he needs to disclose everything about the house, including the 36 murders that took place here before.  I guess it will be a little crowded inside.

4

“So you’re like a shitty Miss Cleo?”

Madison and Behold perform a spell so that they are able to see and speak to the spirits in Murder House and it seems like it worked perfectly, as Madison detects a red ball rolling her way, reminding us that Beau is around and ready to say hi.  They also quickly cross paths with the “psychic to the stars,” Billie Dean Howard, who predicted that the Antichrist would bring about the apocalypse back in season one.  She knows that Madison and Behold are witches, but she keeps this information to herself.  Is it that she doesn’t want to get involved or is there some other reason for her silence?  Billie Dean also tells Madison that she has known other Montgomerys, potentially confirming that Madison is somehow related to Dr. Montgomery.  Sarah Paulson has been quite busy directing and playing a number of characters, but she is keeping us all entertained for sure.  We also cross paths with the maid, Moira O’Hara, who Constance is looking to get rid of.  After finding her bones, Madison and Behold agree to bury her near her mother so that she can finally be at peace.  Now on to some of our absolute favorites!

3

“I was born to be a mother.”

Jessica Lange definitely knows how to make an entrance.  When Madison and Behold meet her, she greets them by saying, “I’m Constance Langdon and this is my f*cking house.”  Constance seems willing to help Madison and Behold, but reminds them that “I don’t spill a drop of tea for free.”  After removing Moira from the premises, Constance keeps up her end of the bargain and gives us a tell all about her past as Michael Langdon’s grandmother.  Constance thought of Michael as a “chance for a do over” and further explains that “he was my destiny.”  Constance began to detect that something was not right with Michael right away.  She used to find dead insects and rodents by his crib, which she thought of as “presents.”  She buried each dead thing in the garden and covered it up with a rose bush, until her yard was completely full of them.  She mentions a dead babysitter as well and explains that at least she didn’t have to bury that one.  I guess that’s a win?  Constance reveals that one day she walked in and Michael had aged a decade over night.  It’s like he was “in a hurry to get somewhere.”  Constance felt that she was born to be a mother and Michael gave her the opportunity to feel like she truly mattered.  She soon realized that Michael was done with her and decided to leave the world on her own terms, taking her life in Murder House so that she could be reunited with her family forever.  We also get a glimpse of Constance’s fourth child, who she refers to as a “beauty queen,” but is missing her eyes.  Jessica Lange is no stranger to putting on a fantastic show throughout the seasons and she has her grand “bon voyage” moment in the spotlight here, dancing and swirling around with star quality.

2

“And all who dwell on the earth will worship him.”

After speaking to Constance, Madison and Behold offer to help Ben Harmon, who spends his days crying and masturbating by the window, which has become “his thing.”  Dylan McDermott is back and he reveals his own past with Michael, explaining that he thought of him like a son and that he was the “only light to come out of all this.”  While Ben began bonding with Michael, Tate was not as receptive to him, telling him to “stay away from my shit.”  Michael didn’t listen all too well; however, as he began putting on the Rubber Man suit and ended up killing a lesbian couple who moved in.  Tate had been responsible for killing a gay couple in the suit back in the day.  Ben was horrified by Michael’s actions here and then further explains that he didn’t just kill them, but he “made them cease to exist.”  Ben walked away from Michael, explaining that he could have never helped him and Michael continued to turn toward darkness.  Madison comments that “our new Supreme is pretty much pure evil” and in walks Vivian, played by the wonderful Connie Britton, who is ready to finally make amends with her husband and share some information as well.  Vivian talks about the “Church of Satan” and we finally get to learn how Ms. Mead entered Michael’s life.  They referred to him as “The Chosen One” and said he was born over the mouth of hell.  After performing a dark mass ritual, Michael consumed the sacrifice and we see a shadow of Satan over his shoulders.  Vivian explains that “he was born from the evil of this house and the source of darkness is his true father and he is here to destroy the world.”  Behold later asks some important questions like “what if we can’t stop him and what happens then?  I’m right there with you Behold, as Michael’s powers are coming from the source of all evil and I’m not sure that anyone is a match for him.

1

“Maybe you just need to see the truth for yourself.”

Have you ever wanted to re-write the ending for some of your favorite characters so that they can get the happy ending they deserve?  Well AHS pretty much gave fans that very opportunity in last night’s episode.  Madison actually tries to do some good and has a heart-to-heart talk with Violet.  She recognizes the “romantic tragedy” right in front of her and tries to explain that the evil within Tate left once Michael did.  Violet has trouble believing her and Madison magically helps her see the truth for herself.  Violet and Tate share a beautiful moment together and embrace by the window, as fans cheer everywhere.  Behold comments that Madison is “really nothing but a softie” and I am happy to see her finally doing some good for others.  Even though we see a glimmer of a happily ever after for Violet and Tate, Madison and Behold know that there will be no more happy endings if they cannot stop Michael.  Madison uses her powers to close the gates to Murder House with her mind, reminding me of Charmed, where we see Prue doing the same thing whenever closing the door to the Halliwell manor.  We have closed the chapter on Murder House, but I have to say that it was an amazing episode and well worth the wait.  Stay tuned!

P.S. fun fact:  Naomi Grossman played Pepper in Asylum and is now featured as one of the Cardinals of Satan.  She is the first character to ever cross over on the seasons, as her original character also appeared on Freak Show.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on American Horror Story:  Apocalypse below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Purge” season 1 episode 7: “Because Fear is Alive”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the USA network’s The Purge season 1 episode 7 last night, the voice over reminded us that “The Purge is your chance to rise up.  To stand tall.  Reclaim your power.  We’ll all rise up together and march hand and hand to victory.”  Even when you think it may be over on Purge Night, that doesn’t mean that you give you for one second.  There is still plenty of time to reclaim your own power and to fight back.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Lovely Dark and Deep,” Miguel and Penelope escape through the woods, but run into new threats along the way.  Meanwhile, Jane is put on display and Jenna has a Lady Macbeth moment.  “Out damned spot!”  My top 5 moments from The Purge season 1 episode 7 are:

5

“Your looks are an asset.”

David takes things to the next level when he adds Jane to his live art gallery, putting her on display for everyone to see.  Jane tells him that he is disgusting and David reminds her to “hang tight,” pun intended.  During this time, Jane flashes back to her past and remembers her mother talking to her about her looks being an asset, encouraging Jane to enter into beauty pageants to potentially win a scholarship.  Jane has always wanted to prove that she can succeed based on her intelligence, rather than her looks, but her mother tells her to “sparkle baby.”  Jane has also always wanted to change the perception of others in the world, but reality has reminded her that this is not always possible.  Jane spots Anya at the party and begs her to help her.  Anya discreetly speaks to Jane and tells her that they did this to her last year, trying to calm her down.  Jane is horrified that Anya said nothing and let this happen and asks for her to call the Matron Saints.  Even though Anya is not a part of this twisted game, sometimes saying nothing is just as bad as actively participating.   Will Anya make the right decision?

4

“She’s very convincing when she needs to be.”

Jenna and Rick agree to let Lila into their home, who is absolutely traumatized.  Jenna tries to console her and tells her, “You’re OK.”  Rick later pulls Jenna aside and explains that Lila’s story keeps changing and that this doesn’t add up.  Jenna doesn’t want to hear this; however, as she is very concerned with Lila’s well-being and just wants to be there for her.  Is Jenna blinded by love?  Is Lila hiding something?  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but I think Rick is on to something here.

3

“You’re the most important person in the world to me.”

Miguel and Penelope are not getting that pancake break anytime soon, as they make their way into the woods to escape the “Carnival of Flesh.”  They take a moment to finally talk and Penelope asks Miguel how many people he killed tonight.  Miguel explains that he did what he had to do, but Penelope says that she was ready to die.  The woods are anything but “lovely,” as they witness a man being set on fire and try to make their way out undetected.  Penelope gets stuck in a trap and Miguel puts his Marine skills to the test once again to free her.  Later on, Penelope tells Miguel that she is glad that he came back for her.  Finally!  It looks like the immediate threat is over for these two, but something tells me that Penelope will want to go back and face her cult leader.  Is she ready though?

2

“You saved us.”

While tensions continue to build at Rick and Jenna’s home, they realize that their neighbor, Ross, has gotten inside.  Ross is pissed off about their lack of “neighborly courtesy” and is ready to purge.  You might want to start taking in your garbage cans on time from now on.  Rick and Jenna try to talk Ross out of this and even let him know that they will put something on the books right away so that they can all get to know each other.  Ross is not buying it; however, and tries to attack Jenna.  Lila steps in with perfect timing and brutally stabs Ross, ending the threat.  Go Lila!  Lila is still shaken up after she witnessed her father’s death; however, and reveals to Rick and Jenna, “I just ran when it came to saving my own family.  I didn’t even try.”  Jenna reminds her that she saved them and is extremely grateful.  Jenna is ready to move once this is all over; however, desperately trying to clean the blood out of the floor, which was supposed to be where the nursery would go.  So much for that.  Jenna tells Lila that she can stay there for as long as she needs and embraces her hand in a touching moment.  Rick witnesses this; however, and I’m starting to think that he may be on to something.  As much as I am rooting for Jelinna, there is something not quite right about all of this.  We’ll have to stay tuned to find out what Lila is hiding.

1

“There’s nothing left to say David.”

David continues to play the villain perfectly, as he talks to Jane about capturing the live fear in her eyes.  Jane is horrified by his actions, but the tables are about to finally turn.  The lights all go out and in walks the masked vigilante, Joe, who is there to save Jane and the other women.  Jane tries to help the other women there and tells Anya to help as well, as Anya finally listens and makes the right decision.  Girl power and all that.  Jane picks up the gun and the moment we have been waiting for is finally here.  Without any hesitation, she shoots David in the head and takes off with Joe.  Joe tells her that they will go somewhere safe, but I have to say that I am extremely proud of Jane.  David could not be redeemed and Jane reclaimed her power, refusing to become someone weak like David initially suggested.  While Jane is a good person and against everything this night stands for, she had no choice here.  If she didn’t eliminate David, he would have come after her.  Either way, Jane finally stepped up and Joe has now crossed paths with the first of our main characters.  I’m looking forward to see who he helps next.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Purge below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 2: “You’re not Saving the World Rick. You’re just Getting it Ready for Me”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 2, I realized that restoring a bridge is not just about connecting different places.  While you may be able to get to point B easier from point A, it’s not that simple when it comes to building a bridge between groups of people, especially when these people do not agree on everything.  So do you keep trying to build it anyway or do you sever the link before it becomes too much to handle?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Bridge,” the communities attempt to work together to restore the bridge, but not everyone is on the same page.  Meanwhile, Jesus and Michonne try to get through to Maggie and Daryl continues to clash with Rick.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 2 are:

5

“Mother Goose?”

Even though everyone is trying to create a new beginning, one cannot ignore that the world is still filled with death and despair.  Sometimes these episodes can get a bit heavy and Tara provides some much needed comic relief.  Tara is the “eye in the sky” and tries to radio over to Rick when she sees a potential threat of walkers headed their way.  Tara hilariously refers to Rick as “Mother Goose,” but he does not seem to be too fond of the code name.  I like the code name; however, and it’s nice to see someone take a minute to have a good laugh.  Thanks Tara!

4

“It’s about the small moments.”

During the episode, we continue to see some heartwarming moments between Carol and Ezekiel.  Ezekiel reminds Carol that it’s about the small moments and that he is not giving up on their fairy-tale just yet.  Even though Carol will be leaving his side for a while, Ezekiel understands that it is just “goodbye for now.”  Later on, Carol asks Ezekiel if he still has the ring and agrees to wear it, but she doesn’t want him to make a big production.  Ezekiel tries to get down on one knee and says that he has a speech prepared.  Carol had me laughing out loud when she responds, “I’m sure you did and you can read it to me later.”  Carol and Ezekiel are as different as they come, but there is something endearing about them so far, even though I’m still not shipping them just yet.  However, the writers are making it difficult for me because these moments are heartwarming for sure.

3

“I think some decisions are too big for one person to make.”

We learn that it has been a little more than a month since Gregory was executed and Maggie is refusing to let the wife of the man who attacked her visit him in his cell.  Michonne expresses her concerns again and Jesus tries to get through to Maggie, explaining that they need to have some kind of common law system in place.  Jesus and Michonne think that Maggie is a good person, but Jesus makes an excellent point when he explains that “good people can disagree.”  Maggie eventually has a change of heart after letting the man’s wife visit him and having a heart-to-heart talk with him as well.  Later on, she tells Michonne that they can talk about common laws, but she will still do what she thinks is right by her people.  When Michonne asks her what has changed, Maggie talks about her own father and says that he had a drinking problem too.  He deserved a second chance, but she reminds Michonne that Gregory had way too many chances and she’s absolutely right.  Maggie further explains, “Some people can be redeemed, but others can’t.”  When Michonne asks her who gets to make that decision, Maggie says that they will need to figure that out.  I’m glad to see that Maggie is willing to listen to the people around her while still maintaining her strong leadership and beliefs.  I have a feeling that we will definitely see some more differences in opinions; however, and we will have to stay tuned to see how far that escalates.

2

“Are we though?  On the same side?”

Tensions are continuing to run high, especially when some of the former Saviors get upset when they are told what to do.  Daryl clashes with one in particular and Rick has to break up a fight to keep the peace going.  Daryl has been trying to get through to Rick, but Rick has been trying so hard to keep his new world going.  Does that mean that he is willing to sacrifice his friendship with Daryl, however?  That doesn’t seem to be the case, as Rick is later confronted with the very same man after Aaron is severely injured because of this man’s negligence on the Walkie.  Rick tells him that he has met men like him before when he was a cop and we finally get a glimpse of the bad-ass Rick Grimes that we all love so much.  Rick tells him to leave the camp and warns him, “If I see your face again, stitches won’t fix what I do to you.”  Rick stands up for Daryl here, but he also recognizes that not everyone is on board with the new world he is creating.  While Rick doesn’t believe in executing others, he is willing to banish them to get his point across.  While I appreciate what Rick is trying to build here in his community, he also needs to remember that not everyone has the best intentions and he has to protect the people around him.  Don’t lose that edge just yet Rick.

1

“You’re not saving the world Rick.  You’re just getting it ready for me.”

Rick has been talking to Negan about how they are building and growing as a community.  He tells Negan that they had a bad day, but that they all came together at the end and that was their choice.  In a previous moment, Aaron tells Rick that “it’s not the end of the world anymore” because Rick changed it and he’s glad to be a part of it.  Aaron has just lost his arm and is still happy to be a part of the world that Rick is creating, giving Rick some hope and encouragement that he is doing the right thing.  After Rick tells Negan about the day, Negan responds, “That’s a really pretty picture you paint there Rick.”  Rick tells him that he will never see it and loses his temper when Negan brings up Carl.  Negan reminds Rick that everything will eventually fall apart and he will be right there waiting in the wings.  We know that there are still some Saviors who believe in Negan, but is there another threat present as well?  At the end of the episode, the man who attacked Daryl is talking to someone on the road back and is attacked.  Who is this new threat?  We’ll have to wait and find out, but Rick needs to remember that he should never underestimate Negan, even if he is behind bars right now.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 9 episode 6: “You Can Only Count on Family Dude”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 9 episode 6, Carl reminded Ian that “you can only count on family.”  Even if a Gallagher messes up, everyone is still there for him or her, supporting them until the end, because that’s what you do for family.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Face It, You’re Gorgeous,” Ford wants Fiona to move in with him, but she has second thoughts when things don’t go exactly as planned with her new investment.  Meanwhile, Ian prepares himself for prison; Lip tries out being a sober companion, and Frank tracks down his new romantic interest with the help of Liam.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 9 episode 6 are:

5

“I’m good at crazy.”

During the episode, Frank is determined to track down Dr. Ingrid Jones, played by Katey Sagal.  Frank takes Liam along with him and waits for her to be released from her 72 hour stay at the psychiatric facility, which Frank remembers all too well.  Frank reminisces about Monica and perhaps over shares a bit too much with his son, but Frank explains that it is never boring when you are with someone a little bit crazy.  Ingrid doesn’t initially admit to remembering Frank, but he later appears at her doorstep and tells her that she is fantastic and that he loves the part of her that is not really normal.  It looks like Frank might have finally found a new romantic interest worthy of his affection.  Katey Sagal is absolutely wonderful so I’m hoping that this is a recurring role for her, but we will have to wait and see.  Perhaps she can bring out the best in Frank or at least take them on a new adventure together.

4

“I can take that or you can keep it as a parting gift.”

Kev and V are surprised to get a knock on their door from Sister Francis and quickly learn that their daughter, Amy, brought in a vibrating dildo for show and tell when asked to bring something in that represents the love of her parents.  Sister Francis explains that most of the other children brought in pictures of hearts, but Amy certainly took the cake with her representation of Kev and V’s love.  Kev and V are required to meet with the priest who over shares in excessive detail about his own sexual past and he hangs on to the dildo for safe keeping…sure we’ll go with safe keeping.  Kev and V realize that this is serious and they have to be careful around the girls.  Kev decides that they should have a ceremony of sorts before discarding the rest of their sex toys.  They hilariously throw each item off the bridge into the water before sharing a few words about them.  Perhaps Kev gets a little bit too sentimental, but this moment is absolutely laugh out loud funny.

3

“Say the line!”

In this episode, Lip tries out being a sober companion for a celebrity named Jen Wagner, played by the fabulous Courteney Cox.  Jen tries to escape Lip, but she cannot get rid of him so easily.  When she asks why her sobriety is so important to him, Lip explains, “If I help you stay sober, it helps me stay sober.”  After a few more failed attempts to escape and drink, Jen joins Lip for a family dinner consisting of White Castle and has an absolute blast with the Gallagher family.  They request for her to say her famous line from her makeup commercials, “Face It, You’re Gorgeous,” and she actually offers them some really great advice.  Jen calms Ian’s nerves about prison and she even kisses Debbie and tells her that she needs someone in her life that truly gets her, reminding everyone that she did play a lesbian role once in one of her movies.  Jen realizes that she hasn’t even thought about drinking while hanging out with Lip and his family, revealing just how important a good support system is.  Perhaps Lip has a new calling and a new celebrity friend as well.  I’m proud of you Lip!

2

“I thought we were ready to take this relationship to the next level.”

In the beginning of the episode, Ford and Fiona decide to move in together, but Fiona says that she didn’t realize it would be so expensive.  Ford tells her that “to get ahead in life, you have to push past your comfort zone,” which is actually really good advice.  Fiona has second thoughts about moving in; however, when she realizes that she cannot get out of her new investment deal and learns that the project is being pushed back by 12 months and now requires $25,000 more out of her pocket.  After being denied another mortgage loan, Fiona is feeling defeated and begins drinking away her sorrows.  After kissing her co-worker, Fiona realizes that she is making a big mistake and that she needs to go home and apologize to Ford.  Ford is not there and she tracks his phone using his iPad and knocks on the door, not knowing what to expect.  A woman named Patty opens the door and reveals that she is Ford’s wife and he has a child as well.  Ford tries to explain to Fiona that he is separated, but Fiona is too hurt and upset to hear anything he has to say.  She crashes her car in his neighborhood and just gets out and starts walking away, refusing to let Ford help her.  Fiona is clearly hurt, but the physical pain is not enough to prevent her from getting away from Ford as quickly as possible.  This is not the first time we have seen Fiona be lied to and my heart goes out to her.  Fiona deserves the very best and while Ford may have a reasonable explanation for everything, it still doesn’t change the fact that he has been lying to her all this time.  Will Fiona be OK?  Will her family be able to intervene and help her before it’s too late?  Let’s hope so.

1

“You can only count on family dude.”

At the end of the episode, Ian is surprised that Fiona is not there to take him to prison, but Kev agrees to drive him and the rest of the Gallaghers tag along for moral support.  Ian explains that he thought some of his friends and supporters might be there, but Carl reminds him that you can only ever really truly count on family.  Everyone embraces Ian and he walks into prison with his head held high.  When he gets to his cell, I immediately started wondering about who his cell mate would be and in walks Mickey!  At this point, I was jumping up and down cheering and I’m sure you were too.  It’s about time these two were reunited.  Sure, they may be in prison, but something tells me that Ian and Mickey will make the best of their situation.  These two absolutely belong together and I am excited to have Noel Fisher back on the show.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on Shameless below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 14 episode 1 season premiere: “What Do You Want?”

Happy Friday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 14 episode 1 season premiere, the wait is finally over and we get to catch up with the Winchester brothers.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  A lot happened last season, but to quickly catch you up, Michael is currently residing in Dean’s body, Jack has lost his powers, Lucifer is dead, and Bobby is alive.  Well it’s not our Bobby, it’s a Bobby from another dimension, but you get the idea.  In last night’s season premiere, “Stranger in a Strange Land,” we learn that Michael is travelling all over the world to find out what holy men want.  Meanwhile, Jack is trying to adjust to life without his powers, Sam and Castiel are trying everything to track down Dean, and Lucifer’s vessel, Nick, is still alive.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 14 episode 1 season premiere are:

5

“The other one.  The better one.”

In the beginning of the episode, we catch up with Dean, or rather Michael, who is still sporting his Newsboy cap with style.  We learn that Dean/Michael has been travelling all over the world and has been speaking to holy men, asking them what they want.  Dean/Michael interrupts a man who is praying to Allah and asks him what he wants, but quickly breaks down the facade and shows him what a hypocrite he has been.  Dean/Michael explains that, “you’re lost and not worth saving.”  Michael is looking for a better world, but what extreme measures will he take to create it?

4

“I don’t understand how Lucifer could die and I could live.”

I’m not really sure either Nick, but I am excited to still have Mark Pellegrino on the show.  Seriously he’s the best.  Sam explains that he is not too sure either, but tries to see if Nick has held on to any important information that could help him track down his brother.  While Nick doesn’t seem too useful just yet, you have to wonder if Lucifer will somehow come back from the dead and raise hell.  I mean it’s not the first time he has done this.

3

“It ain’t how hard you hit, it’s how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

Good advice parallel world Bobby.  Jack hilariously asks him if that was Ghandi and it’s great to see that Jack hasn’t lost his unintentional humor along with his grace.  Jack has been trying to adjust to life without his powers, but it is a lot for him.  Jack desperately wants to help his friends and family and Bobby is a good mentor for him.  Bobby has been trying to train him on fighting, but Jack still has a lot to learn.  I’m confident that he will find his place sooner or later, especially since we know his heart is in the right place.

2

“There will be no new king of hell.  Not today.  Not ever.”

Sam is not messing around, as his number one priority is to find his brother.  Castiel consorts with a demon, trying literally everything to find his good friend.  The demon even jokes to Castiel, “I thought you two were joined at the everything.”  The demon holds Castiel hostage and gives Sam a call, who arrives with plenty of backup.  The demon explains that “hell is in a bit of a pickle” and he wants to make a deal with Sam.  Demons do love their fair share of deals.  Well they aren’t really fair about it, but they definitely know how to stick to a contract for sure.  The demon tells Sam that he wants the “Crowley deal” and Sam had me cheering out loud when he says, “But you’re no Crowley.”  No this demon is definitely nowhere near the level of our old frenemy, Crowley.  The threat is eliminated and Sam tells the other demons that there will be no new king of hell and that anyone who thinks otherwise will need to go through him directly.  While I appreciate Sam’s words, it got me thinking about a new potential king of hell.  We know that the demons are not going to just sit by because a Winchester told them to.  So many other characters have come back from the dead.  Is it possible that we may see Crowley again?  Fingers crossed!

1

“You got me.  You have all of us.  You have your family and we are going to find Dean and beat Michael…because that’s what we do.”

I have to admit that I have missed the Supernatural  pep talks quite a lot.  Jack is feeling defeated after he merely just got punched in the face and Castiel hilariously points out that pretty much everyone got punched in the face.  Jack is feeling useless and doesn’t know how to help.  Castiel reminds him that his grace will restore itself eventually, but that he has him in the meantime and his entire family, which is a touching moment.  Castiel, Sam, and Dean have been like fathers to Jack and they have all been influencing him and helping him discover who he is along the way.  I’m looking forward to seeing Jack’s character develop even further and I have a feeling that he will make a difference in the world without his grace.  At the end of the episode, Sam receives a call from Sister Jo and she tells him that they have a problem, revealing that she received a visit from Dean/Michael earlier.  Dean/Michael visits with a vampire and recognizes that this creature knows exactly what it wants.  Is Michael about to form an alliance with vampires?  We’ll have to stay tuned, but I’m not sure that Michael has the best intentions for his “better world.”

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season 13 episode 6: “The Gang Solves the Bathroom Problem”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the FXX network’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 6 last night, I realized that the gang has a solution for pretty much everything and they will ensure they thoroughly cover all angles to get it right.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Gang Solves the Bathroom Problem,” the gang is excited to go to a Jimmy Buffett concert, but they have to handle an important debate before they can get back to “island time.”  Meanwhile, Charlie shows off his surprising fashion skills, Frank proves that screams are better than music, and poor Dee is ignored once again.  My top 5 moments from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 6 are:

5

“Were you in the women’s bathroom?”

The gang is ready to go to the Jimmy Buffett concert, but they have to hit pause when Dee asks Mac why he was in the women’s bathroom.  Mac explains that he feels more comfortable in there because he is gay and is ready to initiate a thorough debate if needed.  Before we get there, Mac overacts when Dee begins to question him and tries to strangle her, yelling out, “Maybe I’ll choke you out!”  Poor Dee.  Mac is the first one to take the floor on the argument and explains that, “A, we both like dudes and B, we both find women’s bodies disgusting so no hanky panky.”  Seems like it is case closed, but Dee gets up and reminds everyone that “A, not all women like dudes and B, I find you disgusting.”  And so our debate begins.

4

“The dress ties the whole look together.”

After Mac mistakes Dee for being in the stall next to him with “pink heels,” Dee says that she doesn’t even own a pair.  Charlie steps up and says that he can explain it all.  We learn that Charlie has also been using the women’s bathroom and he wears a pair of pink heels so he doesn’t look suspicious.  Only Mac peeks over the top of the stall and discovers that Charlie is also wearing a wig and a dress to match.  Charlie tries to explain that he has been doing this since he was little and that “it’s not that weird.”  The gang responds with “it’s so weird,” but Charlie is not about to abandon his bathroom ensemble just yet.

3

“It’s mostly dicks.”

The gang makes the decision to take away gender from the bathrooms and they decide to make clear signs to indicate this.  This becomes very confusing, as the initial sign has Charlie thinking that there is a “starfish throwing a rock,” which we learn is actually a baby.  Mac thinks he will have better luck and ends up spending several hours on the laptop watching porn and comes up with a sign mostly full of dicks.  Frank then tries to take a stab at it and brings religion into it.  Dee suggests that they just put up toilet signs and decides she is going to use the men’s former bathroom, but suddenly the men don’t want her in there either.  Dee says, “You can’t take away my right to choose,” and the debate goes off topic as Dennis predicted.

2

“Have you ever read the constitution?”

The gang tries out designating one bathroom for #1 and the other for #2, but the gang thinks this might be a problem.  They try using scented candles in #2 and Frank suggests using the sound of screams rather than music for background noise.  Dennis and Charlie are not really sure about this, but when they enter the bathroom and hear the screaming, they think that they might be on to something.  This part had me crying from laughing so hard.  It reminded me of what you hear when you go through a haunted house, but somehow it worked.  We also quickly discover that Frank keeps a gun with him at all times in the bathroom and the constitution is brought up once again, which leads to everyone actually taking a moment to start reading it.  You can’t say that It’s Always Sunny hasn’t taught you anything.

1

“In there we’re all the same…”

After much debate, the gang finally realizes that they are all the same in the bathroom and Dee tries to shed some light on everything and has an insightful thought when she suggests, “Why don’t we focus on treating other people the way we want to be treated?”  I’m with you Dee!  Charlie seems like he is really thinking it over, but then says, “Dee, we were just talking” and Mac hilariously adds in, “Yea shut the f*ck up!”  Poor Dee!  Well at least the gang will get to enjoy the Jimmy Buffett concert after all.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” season 8 episode 5: “Do Not for One Second Think I am Weak”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the FX network’s American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 5 last night, I thought the saying “keep your friends close and your enemies closer” was appropriate, or in Cordelia’s case, keep your girls close and the Antichrist even closer, but will she be able to outsmart Michael Langdon?  Place your bets now.  I’m all in on Coven.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Boy Wonder,” Cordelia has a vision about the end of the world and agrees to administer the test of the Seven Wonders for Michael.  Meanwhile, John Henry continues to have his suspicions about Michael, Madison is given an important task, and we are presented with more Easter eggs.  Did you catch them all?  My top 5 moments from American Horror Story:  Apocalypse season 8 episode 5 are:

“And if you succeed, you will be the next Supreme and it will change everything.”

In the beginning of the episode, Cordelia has a startling vision about the future and sees a world filled with “cannibalism, fire, and death.”  Cordelia saw her academy “reduced to cinders” and is not about to take this warning lightly.  She recognizes that their very survival might depend on what she does next and finally agrees to administer the test of the Seven Wonders at the rise of the blood moon.  Does this sound familiar?  During Roanoke, the spirits were able to cross over coinciding with the blood moon cycle, so this is absolutely a connection to season 6.  We also know that the spirits were linked to Lady Gaga’s character, Scathach, who was the first of the Supremes.  It makes sense that the test of the Seven Wonders is connected to this as well, especially since it is a test of true power and worthiness.  Cordelia reveals that Michael will be named the next Supreme if he can pass the test.  Myrtle hilariously points out that men make horrible leaders, but Cordelia stands by her decision.

“I’m a gluten detector.  That’s my only power.”

Myrtle reminds Cordelia that Michael is not the only one with power and we get to witness another example of Mallory’s extraordinary abilities.  Mallory heals the wounds of an injured deer, but doesn’t just heal them; she completely undoes them, which is remarkable.  We also finally get to see Coco’s entrance into the academy and learn that her only real power is that of a “gluten detector.”  Coco explains that her brother was about to eat something and she got a horrible feeling and pushed it away from him, saving his life.  However, word spread fast and Coco’s socialite friends requested that she do a test of sorts on their food to ensure that they can hit their target weight.  Coco hilariously begins humming when she scans the food and declares whether or not it has gluten.  Cordelia points out to Coco that her powers can develop and grow and that detecting if something is dangerous is actually something significant.  While we haven’t gotten a chance to see Coco’s powers advance, she is still bringing some comic relief to us along the way.  In terms of Mallory’s powers, we know that it has been hinted that her ancestry line goes back to Salem, but is it possible that she is somehow a descendant of Scathach?  It seems like Mallory may be the only one who is potentially strong enough to face Michael Langdon and it would make sense to have the son of Satan face off against one of the daughters of the first original Supreme.  We’ll have to wait and see; however, but I am hoping we get more screen time for Mallory soon.

“Stand down bitch.”

John Henry is still refusing to accept Michael Langdon as the next “alpha” and decides to go out and get some answers.  Before he has a chance to do so, he crosses paths with the original Ms. Mead at a gas station and she cryptically says, “So many things left to do and so little time in the hour glass.”  While the idea of time running out in an hour glass can represent so many things, John Henry is caught off guard and Ms. Mead eliminates him as a threat forever, setting him on fire.  I have to say that I was just really starting to enjoy John Henry’s character and he brought just the right amount of sass to the table.  Michael is being very careful to eliminate any threat around him, but it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out about who he really is.

2

“What always happens when a new Supreme rises…the old one fades away.”

Michael begins to pass the test of the Seven Wonders with flying colors, even though the tests were presented like a silent film in black and white.  When he gets to the final test of “Descensum,” he is to project his soul into the afterlife, but Cordelia changes things up and requests that he retrieve Misty from there.  Cordelia reminds everyone that she is still The Supreme and that she outranks everyone there and is not weak at all, even though her powers seem to be fading.  Michael agrees to the test and we once again see a series of doorways, reminding us that this season is connecting us to so many different worlds and realms.  Michael finds Misty in a school science lab of sorts, where she is forced to dissect a living frog over and over again.  I thought Madison’s personal hell was pretty bad, but I definitely feel for Misty here.  When Michael arrives, Misty asks if he is there to save her and he is able to bring her back successfully.  I was excited to see the return of Lily Rabe’s character and hope that Misty can help out her sister witches.  When Michael completes this, Cordelia begins to fade even further, signaling that Michael will become the next Supreme.

1

“He will never be The Supreme.  I wanted to keep him close so we would be ready.”

Cordelia has been keeping her poker face going this entire time, as she later reveals that she never planned to let Michael become the next Supreme.  Misty even tells her that there is something not right about him and it was like he was speaking to evil directly.  Cordelia’s powers may be fading, but she is still on top of her game.  She cleverly got Michael to bring back all of her girls so that they would be ready for the final battle.  She thanks Misty for bringing them the first proof and in a touching moment, in walks Stevie Nicks, “The White Witch.”  She serenades Misty and the two dance together, which is wonderful to see.  Welcome back Stevie!  Later on, Cordelia pulls Madison aside and tells her that she wants her to go find out more about Michael.  One of the warlocks, Behold Chablis, was eavesdropping and has his own reasons for wanting to tag along.  At least John Henry was not the only one to have a gut feeling about Michael, even though Chablis initially seemed to disagree with him.  Cordelia agrees that they will go together and Madison asks, “What’s so special about this place?”  Cordelia explains that “it’s where it all began” and we cut to the front of Murder House.  It looks like Madison will be moving in and we will get to see some of our old favorite characters return next week.  Are you ready?  Stay tuned!

P.S. fun fact:  Madison shares the same last name as Dr. Charles Montgomery, who is the one who originally built the Murder House.

I am so excited to announce that my book, The Search for Alice, is now available!  If you enjoy fairy-tale retellings, paranormal romance, horror, and mystery, then this might be the book for you or someone you know!  Thank you for taking the time to check it out and I appreciate any feedback as well.  I hope you enjoy!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 1 season premiere: “The Calm before the Storm”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 1 season premiere, we are left with some shocking moments, a new mystery, and so many questions.  Are you ready for season 3?  Here we go!  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In tonight’s episode, “Chapter Thirty-Six:  Labor Day,” Archie faces his trial and is tormented by nightmares before the big day.  Meanwhile, Jughead learns that it is not easy to lead, Veronica continues to clash with her father, and Betty is not a fan of her mother’s new outlook on life.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 1 season premiere are:

5

“Have a terrific weekend!”

During Archie’s trial, we learn that there will be a short recess until after Labor Day, which gives Archie one last potential weekend of freedom.  Hiram Lodge makes it a point to wish Archie a terrific weekend, but Fred Andrews wipes that smug smile off his face literally when he punches him.  Even though this may not have been the wisest decision, Fred is not about to let Hiram say anything else to his son and he will not rest until he brings him to justice.  I have to admit that I was cheering for Fred in this moment.  Take that Hiram!

4

“Cheryl doesn’t miss.”

Oh Cheryl Blossom, how I have missed you.  Cheryl makes an entrance like no other and walks into Pop’s Diner, sporting her red leather Serpent jacket and red bikini top like a boss.  Cheryl announces that there will be an end of summer party at her house and lets us know that she spent three wonderful months with Toni.  Can we get some footage of that please?  Cheryl opens up to Toni during the pool party and talks about when Archie saved her in the river, revealing that she had lost hope and did something really stupid.  Toni proves to be a wonderful partner and is always there to support her and listen.  Toni embraces Cheryl’s hand, letting her know that she is there for her and I am happy that these two are finally getting the chance they deserve together.  Later on, Cheryl continues to steal the spotlight when she sports her bow and arrow, ready to protect her fellow Serpents.  Cheryl puts an arrow in the shoulder of a Ghoulie who gets a little bit too close to Jughead and reminds everyone, “I told you I was in the mood for some hell raising.”  After Penny threatens the Serpents, Jughead tells Cheryl to point the arrow at Penny’s head and reminds her that “Cheryl doesn’t miss.”  Seriously she’s like a super hero or something.  With everything else going on in this episode, it was great to see some moments reserved for Cheryl, but I am hoping to see her character develop even further this season.  She deserves it.

3

“You don’t have a daughter anymore.”

Tensions continue to run high in the Lodge family.  Veronica begs her father to change his mind and help Archie, but he tells her that “it’s simply beyond my control.”  Later on, Archie tries to tell Veronica that he doesn’t want her to wait for him, but she refuses to accept this and tells him, “I am not letting my dad take away the one thing that I love.”  Later on when Archie is taken away, Veronica learns that this is her punishment for betraying her father.  Hiram is cold and harsh with Veronica, but she refuses to back down and tells him, “You don’t have a daughter anymore.”  We know that Hiram will never hurt Veronica physically, but the fact that he can stoop to this level is monstrous.  Hopefully Fred, FP, and Tom Keller can come up with something before it’s too late.  Either way, my heart goes out to Veronica and I am hoping that Hermione will have a change of heart and get more involved.

2

“I didn’t kill anyone but I could have.  I have to take responsibility for that.”

During the episode, Archie is tortured by nightmares, as his guilt starts to overwhelm him.  When he is out with his friends for Labor Day weekend, he tells them that “this is the best last day of summer a guy could ask for.”  Jughead suggests that Archie make a run for it, but Archie feels guilty and responsible for so much and can’t run away from this.  When Archie learns that there may now be another trial, a deal is presented for him to confess to manslaughter and Archie immediately jumps up and accepts the deal, against the advice of his mother.  Archie doesn’t want to put his family and friends through this ordeal any longer and accepts his punishment.  Good thing Archie has some fresh ink, as he will need to look for some potential Serpent allies while in jail.  While I commend Archie for his courage here, I wish that he wouldn’t always act so quickly.  His mother knows what she is doing and this all could have been avoided, but we will have to wait and see if Fred can somehow prove that Hiram is behind everything.  No pressure Fred.

1

“The Gargoyle King.”

The season premiere gave us a lot of shocking and heartwarming moments, but a new mystery has presented itself.  During the episode, we detect Dilton, who is always off by himself and has been seeking out advice and help from Jughead.  Dilton begins rambling to Jughead about the Gargoyle King, almost warning him, but Jughead has to get to Archie’s trial.  When he returns home, he finds a drawing from Dilton that matches up with a map.  When he arrives at the marked spot, he finds several boys in front of some kind of ritual with carvings on their backs.  I have to say that I am absolutely baffled and I have no idea what will happen here, but it looks like Jughead has just discovered a new darkness lurking in Riverdale.  If that wasn’t shocking enough, we learn that Alice has been influenced by someone named Edgar.  Polly introduced Alice to him and so far it seems to be harmless enough, but it is absolutely screaming cult.  We also learn that Betty has been abusing prescription drugs and has lied about going to see a therapist, which is alarming.  At the end of the episode, Betty thinks she sees her mother and sister holding the twins above a fire and then collapses and begins convulsing on the ground.  While we can guess that she must have been hallucinating, Betty’s life is in immediate danger and I am extremely worried.  Earlier, Jughead reminded her that they are partners and I’m hoping that she will learn from her past mistakes and open up to him about her problems now.  She needs Jughead more than ever even though “The Serpent Queen is a Warrior Queen.”  Betty is strong, but her father’s actions may have taken a bigger toll on her than she is willing to admit.  Let’s hope that she will be OK because I can’t live in a world without Betty Cooper.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!
