Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 4: “A Fantasy Land at Our Fingertips”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 4, we got a fun throwback to The Breakfast Club with a familiar guest star, fabulous outfits, and some epic music.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty-Nine:  The Midnight Club,” Hermione announces that “Griffins and Gargoyles” has been officially banned, but this doesn’t stop the obsession with the game.  Meanwhile, Alice opens up to Betty about her personal connection to the game, presenting us with an entertaining flashback that will have you seeing your favorite characters in a new light.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 4 are:

5

“Stay away from this game.”

In an effort to protect everyone, Hermione Lodge announces that she is officially banning “Griffins and Gargoyles.”  Only Veronica rightfully points out, “Newsflash Mom, banning something only makes it more interesting.”  Now that the player’s manual has spread all over town, everyone is intrigued by this new game, unaware of the dark consequences that come along with it.  Betty and Veronica have no interest in playing the game, but some of their loved ones may quickly find themselves caught in a web of obsession.

4

“The world was a different place and we were very different people.”

Alice finally agrees to provide Betty with the truth and her story transitions us into a very different world indeed.  Inspired by the film, The Breakfast Club, we get to envision the parents of Riverdale as teenagers, played by many of their own children.  I thought that this was a really fun and clever way to gain our interest in the story.  Plus we get to see Cheryl rocking some adorable glasses and Betty trading in her preppy style for a bad-ass leather jacket.  The characters are all connected when they wind up in Saturday detention together and a group of strangers find themselves having quite a bit in common, as they all bond together.  Anthony Michael Hall guest stars as Principal Featherhead and we learn that Penelope Blossom was always caught in the middle of a cat fight or two.  During the flashback, we learn that the group found “Griffins and Gargoyles” in their teacher’s desk.  The game seemed like a convenient solution to boredom for the group, but the harmless game quickly turned into a “maddening obsession with the roll of a dice.”

3

“I’m lost.”

During the flashback, we witness a touching scene between young Alice and young Fred.  Alice had just found out that she was pregnant and she confided in Fred about feeling lost and needing an escape from her life.  Alice explained that the game allowed her to do so, but that when the game was over, she was just her again.  This moment is heartwarming on its own, but it also reveals that there has always been some kind of chemistry present between Alice and Fred and perhaps between Betty and Archie as well.  Even though these romantic potential relationships shift toward a friendship instead, one cannot ignore the sweet moment presented here.

2

“Forever to the grave.”

After the group decided to have an “Ascension Party” and play the game “off board,” things started to go horribly wrong.  Alice thought she saw the same creature that Betty did and Principal Featherhead winds up dead.  Even though his death was ruled a suicide, it’s clear that someone poisoned him, utilizing the game to do so.  Everyone was high on “fizzle rocks” except for Alice, but they all realized that they could never speak about the game again.  They all made a pact to keep it a secret and go their separate ways.  Even though their friendships were over, they were still all tied together forever by this horrible secret.

1

“We can’t be silent anymore.”

After flashing back to present day, Betty asks, “Who poisoned the cups?”  Alice is convinced that one of them was a murderer and that Principal Featherhead was an innocent casualty, but who was it and why is that person bringing the game back now after all this time?  We still have a lot to learn, but Betty cannot stay away from this investigation despite her mother’s warning.  Betty promises her that she will not play the game, but she soon stumbles upon Jughead playing it, who is now fixated on it.  His obsession is obvious and it looks like Betty will need to figure out something fast before she loses Jughead.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 5: “I Found Them”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 5, the moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived, but it’s not the moment we truly expected.  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “What Comes After,” Rick is severely wounded and desperately tries to get away from the persistent walker horde following him, as he slips in and out of consciousness, crossing paths with his friends in the afterlife.  Meanwhile, Maggie finally faces Negan and Jadis continues to talk to the mysterious man on the helicopter.  Please note that my top moments will all feature Rick, although I would like to point out that Maggie’s conversation with Negan was truly significant.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 5 are:

5

“Goddamn cowboy, you look like shit!”

Rick is still holding on, but is in immediate danger.  He desperately tries to stay awake, but his mind continues to slip somewhere else, allowing us the chance to catch up with some of our favorite old characters who are no longer with us.  First up…Shane!  Shane is my absolute favorite character of the entire series and I was devastated after his exit.  That being said, perhaps he knew that he was going to kick some serious ass as “The Punisher” so I guess it all worked out in the end.  Rick and Shane have always been like brothers and their reunion picks up right where they left off.  Shane even brings up Judith and asks, “How is my baby girl by the way?”  Shane has always been the “asshole,” but somehow their friendship is still natural and real despite all of the ugliness and drama between these two.  Rick is “looking for his family” and answers, but Shane reminds him to dig down and find the rage within him.  He tells Rick to wake up, as Rick continues to fight and try and escape the walkers that keep coming.  In a way, Shane represents that anger and rage that Rick has had to release on multiple occasions to stay alive.  While Rick has not always made the best decisions because of it, it allowed him to survive.  Perhaps he needed a reminder about that now.

4

“My girl, she’s strong and my grandson…he’ll only make her stronger.”

After scraping by the next obstacle, Rick continues on with his vision quest of sorts and is with Hershel on the farm.  The sun is absolutely breathtaking in the sky and everything seems so calm and peaceful here.  This scene was difficult to watch, especially since Scott Wilson recently passed away, but Rick has always looked to Hershel as his own kind of personal moral compass.  Hershel has always been wise and reminds Rick that Maggie will be OK on her own and tries to tell Rick that he only thinks he needs to find his family.  Hershel clearly represents loyalty and family to Rick, inspiring him with goodness and faith to keep going.

3

“You did your part like I did mine.”

After Rick flashes to some kind of afterlife, surrounded by corpses, he crosses paths with Sasha.  Sasha tries to remind Rick that he did his part and that every single one of them gives us strength.  Sasha further explains, “We help each other.  We make each other better and it never ends.”  Rick is still confused and says that it feels like the end to him, but Sasha reveals, “Little things do end, but it’s never the end of everything.  It’s about all of us.  Your family, they’re not lost.  And you are not lost.”  This part really resonated with me, as Sasha tries to get through to Rick about what it’s all about.  Life is about the people we care about and our actions do matter.  We can all continue to inspire one another and even when we’re gone, we can live on in memories and in the lives of those we have touched.

2

“Because you’re a fighter and you never give up.  Fight for me.”

After Rick’s horse finally abandons him, Rick continues on foot and tries to make it to the bridge.  He imagines all of his friends coming to his rescue, but he is there alone.  Rick creates a conversation with Michonne in his mind, who tells him that she loves him because he is a fighter and never gives up.  Michonne keeps Rick’s love and hope alive here, as he continues to stay true to himself and fight.  I was surprised that we did not see Carl, Glenn, or Lori at all, but I do think that each character we did see represented a part of Rick, reminding him about who he is and what he can still do.

1

“I found them.”

As Rick makes his way to the bridge, his friends now finally catch up to him and try to help him.  Daryl continues to keep the walkers away from Rick, one arrow at a time, and Michonne tries to run toward him, but Rick tries to tell them to stay away.  Rick spots the dynamite and knows what he must do to protect his family.  He lures the walkers on to the bridge and takes out his gun, staying true to who he is…a hero.  Rick blows up the bridge to save his friends and should have gone out in a blaze of glory.  Michonne and Daryl’s reactions were truly heartbreaking, as my own heart shattered as well.  However, there is always some kind of twist on TWD. Rick is somehow OK and washes up to Jadis, formerly known as Anne.  Jadis wants to help Rick because he has helped her in the past and tells the man in the helicopter that she has a “B.”  Again, what makes an “A” or a “B?”  I have no idea, but Rick is taken away on the helicopter and actually makes it out alive!

I don’t know about you, but I was actually really disappointed with this.  As much as I love Rick Grimes and want to see him alive, this sort of felt like a cop-out to me.  Rick had the chance to save all of his friends and leave this world as a true hero.  We know that Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show and will now appear in some Walking Dead movies so I guess that’s a positive, but where does that leave the series?  To make matters even more confusing, we get a time jump that shows bad-ass Judith saving people from walkers while wearing Carl’s hat.  While it’s great to see that she takes after her father and brother, I’m not sure I’m ready to invest in another time jump.  I kind of just want to follow that helicopter and see what’s going on with Rick.  Either way, the episode was done brilliantly and I appreciated the seamless transitions into Rick’s mind.  Rick will always be the very essence of this show for me.  We will all miss you Rick Grimes, but I guess we’ll see you soon in your movies!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

5 Spoiler Free Reasons why you should watch “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” on Netflix: A Binge-Worthy Treat That Is Everything You Crave”

“What’s the point of being a witch if I can’t help the ones I love?”  An excellent question for sure, as half-mortal Sabrina Spellman learns that being a witch is not all fun and games.  If you had the choice to be a witch or a mortal, what would you choose?  Would you continue on your normal path or would you choose the path of night?  The Netflix series is based on the Archie Comics series, which was also the inspiration for the sitcom, Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996-2003).  While the sitcom was a fun and lighter take on Sabrina’s adventures, the Netflix series is a much darker approach.  The show features 10 episodes and they are all currently streaming on Netflix as of October 26th 2018.  After watching all of the episodes in one weekend, I can tell you that I absolutely adored this series.  Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the perfect portion of Riverdale bubble gum pop dipped in delicious darkness.  It is absolutely enchanting and I highly recommend it.  Please note that major spoilers have been left out for your convenience.  My top 5 reasons to check out Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are:

5

This show tackles real issues.

Welcome to Greendale.  While the town is known for its spooky and Halloween-like atmosphere, it is also near Riverdale and it should be noted that these two series do connect.  If you are a Riverdale fan like me, you will be pleasantly surprised with a few mentions and connections along the way.  Even though the town has a lot of dark and mystical things going on, the series also sheds some light on some important issues.  Sabrina and her friends witness and deal with sexual harassment and bullying, reminding us that there are some real life horrors happening along with the supernatural ones.  The show does a good job of making us aware of these important issues and promoting female empowerment, while seamlessly continuing on with the plot.

4

The supporting characters.

It is sometimes difficult for the supporting cast to step into the spotlight, especially when there is a strong lead capturing our attention.  However, I was delighted by a lot of the supporting cast.  I give standout performances to Lucy Davis (Hilda Spellman), Chance Perdomo (Ambrose Spellman), Tati Gabrielle (Prudence), Michelle Gomez (Miss Wardwell), and Miranda Otto (Zelda Spellman).  These characters all complimented Sabrina so well and I could really see a true connection among the Spellman family.  You will be delighted by all of them.

3

Episodes 5, 8, and 9.

While all of the episodes were fast paced and fun, these three were on a completely different level.  I will not spoil anything for you, but I would definitely recommend giving these three episodes your undivided attention.  Episode 5 provided me with some Buffy the Vampire Slayer nostalgia and episodes 8 and 9 were shocking and dark, pulling the story in a twisted direction and further developing the character of Sabrina.  These episodes are not predictable and they will have you on the edge of your seat.  Enjoy the ride!

2

Sabrina Spellman.

Played by Kiernan Shipka, Sabrina is a strong female protagonist who you can truly root for.  Kiernan is absolutely enchanting and she really captured the essence of the character.  Sabrina makes mistakes along the way, but that is part of her charm.  She’s flawed, but she has so much inner strength and loyalty to her friends and family.  Sabrina always tries to do what is right to protect the ones she loves.  She sort of reminds me of a mix between Riverdale’s Betty Cooper and Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger.  She is a fast learner and is willing to go against authority to try and keep her moral compass intact.  Sabrina is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and she is constantly challenging everyone, reminding us that she is not just a powerful witch, but a powerful and amazing woman.

1

A worthy series about witches.

It’s not always easy to provide the audience with a true representation of witchcraft.  There is always the allure of having magical powers and casting spells, but there needs to be a balance as well.  Shows like Charmed and American Horror Story:  Coven were able to capture this along with movies like The Craft.  Chilling Adventures of Sabrina tackles everything from truth spells to resurrection ones and reminds us about “personal gain” and real consequences.  While it may seem glamorous to be a witch, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina reminds us that it’s not always this simple.  Sabrina is trying to find her own identity as a person, but also has to deal with making a choice between her mortal life and her destiny to become a witch.  It’s a decision that weighs on Sabrina for quite some time and she begins to understand that magic cannot always solve everything.  While the show will provide you with some fun magical moments, it also reveals the darkness and sacrifice that comes with it.  Overall, I was truly impressed with this show and I cannot wait until season 2.  I absolutely recommend this spellbinding series to everyone.  Ready to watch?

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4: “I’d Die For You”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 4, I realized that everyone handles their loneliness in different ways.  While some of us keep busy with a routine, others try and make a connection, desperately reaching out for someone to listen to us.  But what happens when there is no one left to listen?  Please note major spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Obliged,” the communities begin to divide even further, disrupting Rick’s vision for them to all live together in peace and harmony.  Meanwhile, Jesus is concerned about Maggie’s actions, Negan requests an audience with Michonne, and Rick and Daryl clash even further after Rick’s “merry band of bridge builders” falls apart.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 4 are:

5

“I’m gonna make things right.”

Maggie tells Jesus that she is going to make things right like they talked about and is ready to head off to Alexandria to see Negan.  Jesus is very concerned about Maggie, as he wants to make sure that she is thinking clearly and doing things for the right reasons.  While Maggie clearly has her mind made up, Jesus tries to intervene and contacts Rick, warning him about what she is about to potentially do.  Is Maggie ready to finally face Negan?  We’ll have to wait to find out, but it looks like she is not turning back now.

4

“But if anything gives me hope…it’s you.”

Rick is disappointed to see the communities falling apart despite his best effort to keep them all united.  Rick has a touching moment with Carol, which we can now think of as a goodbye.  Rick reveals that he’s not sure that they are doing the right thing, but that he has hope in Carol, who is ready to lead her people back to “The Kingdom.”  Carol explains that she is just trying to figure things out like everybody else, but Carol is someone extraordinary.  On the way back, Carol proves to be a leader and someone you do not want to mess with, reminding everyone around her that she is strong and fully capable of taking care of herself and her people.

3

“You’re the price of admission.”

We get some more screen time for Gabriel and Anne, as Anne explains that Gabriel is the “price of admission” into this mysterious new place she is headed to.  Gabriel doesn’t give up here, even though Anne is about to sick a walker on him while he is tied up.  Gabriel says, “You’re afraid but you don’t have to be.”  He reminds Anne that she has changed and that he is a better person because of her.  Gabriel further tells Anne that he thinks he failed her and that he forgives her.  Just as the walker is about to devour Gabriel, Anne pulls it away, saving Gabriel’s life.  Anne cannot go through with this and ends up knocking Gabriel out and leaving him behind.  Gabriel is only left with a note and Anne explains, “If you want to go fast…go alone.  I need to go fast.”  Gabriel is completely heartbroken in this moment.  It’s actually surprising that he is so upset, considering the fact that Anne almost turned him into an afternoon snack for the garbage walker.  Gabriel clearly cares about Anne tremendously and has made an impact on her, as she was not able to hurt him.  Perhaps she is better off alone, but will her time with Gabriel make her second question everything?

2

“We are not the same.”

Michonne’s daily routine is interrupted when she finds out that Negan has been refusing to eat.  After paying him a visit, Negan requests to have a conversation with Michonne.  Michonne reluctantly agrees and tells Negan that while they are rebuilding, he is continuing to rot in there.  While Michonne handles things with action, Negan is a master of words, manipulating and impacting Michonne more than she could have ever anticipated.  Negan opens up to Michonne about his wife dying from cancer and they even both speak about Carl.  Michonne further opens up about her son, Andre, which is clearly difficult for her to talk about.  Negan is desperately looking for any kind of connection, as anything is better than nothing and tries to tell Michonne that they are the same.  Michonne refuses to admit this, but does Negan have a point?  Negan escalates things further when he demands to see his beloved bat, “Lucille,” but Michonne says it isn’t there.  But perhaps Negan has been getting in Michonne’s head for quite some time, as she continues to see his “bat” everywhere, even in Judith’s children’s book.

1

“Brother…take my hand.”

After Rick finds out about Maggie’s intentions, Daryl conveniently offers to give him a ride.  Only Daryl has no intention of stopping Maggie.  Rick quickly realizes what is going on and demands that Daryl pull over.  The tension that has been building between these two finally erupts, as they begin fighting each other, ending up trapped in a ditch.  Now that they are away from everyone, Rick and Daryl finally take a moment to talk about their feelings.  Daryl tells him about what the Oceanside people did and asks Rick if he forgot that Glenn was the one who initially saved him.  Rick explains that if Negan dies, he will become a martyr and then Carl died for nothing.  Daryl says that he’d die for Rick and that he would have died for Carl too, but that Rick is chasing something for him that isn’t meant to be.  Daryl begs Rick to let go of Carl, but is Rick really able to do so?  When they hear cries from the camp, Rick and Daryl finally put their differences aside and work together to get out of the pit.  Rick takes Daryl’s hand and calls him his brother, saving him.  After seeing the horde of walkers quickly approaching, Rick gets on the horse to lead them away, bringing us full circle, as Rick was initially on a horse in the series premiere.  Daryl tells him to “be safe,” but we all know what is coming next.  The horse gets spooked and throws Rick off of him, as Rick hits his head and is injured severely, completely surrounded by oncoming walkers.  There’s no way Rick is getting out of this one, but we’ll have to wait for next week to find out how it ends.  Stay tuned for Rick’s last episode!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 3 episode 3: “The Real Game Is Just Beginning”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 3 episode 3, Hiram Lodge reminded us, “Don’t make enemies of the people trying to help you,” but it’s difficult to determine who is a friend and who is a foe in Riverdale.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Thirty-Eight:  As Above, So Below,” Jughead begins his first game of “Griffins and Gargoyles.”  Meanwhile, Betty tries to talk to Evelyn, Veronica opens her club, “La Bonne Nuit,” and Archie becomes a star.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 3 episode 3 are:

5

“I couldn’t have done it without my favorite power couple.”

I think it’s safe to say that Cheryl and Toni, otherwise known as Choni, may be everyone’s favorite power couple.  At least they are definitely mine.  Veronica approaches Cheryl and Toni, initially looking for Jughead, and Cheryl hilariously says, “You mean True Detective?  He’s busy canoodling Nancy Drew no doubt.”  Seriously Cheryl is laugh out loud funny.  Veronica is looking for some material to blackmail her father and Toni has an in on where one of the Jingle Jangle drug labs are.  My favorite trio is back, reminding me of when Toni and Veronica teamed up to rescue Cheryl last season, as the three put their own sleuth skills to the test, capturing the drug lab on camera while looking absolutely fabulous.  It was nice to see some more air time for Cheryl and Toni, who definitely know how to make an entrance together.

4

“I’m shaking you down.”

Betty gives Veronica some really great advice when she tells her to focus on herself for a change.  Veronica has been so worried about Archie, but she does have a business to run.  Veronica decides to open up her club, “La Bonne Nuit,” but things get complicated when she gets a visit from Penny, a delivery of Jingle Jangle, and her father snooping around.  Veronica is not threatened; however, and she tries to get some leverage over her father, only he pretty much anticipates her every move.  Either way, Veronica’s opening night is a success, as Josie performs and Kevin gets his moment in the spotlight as the MC.  Congrats Veronica!

3

“That kid is a star.”

Archie initially turns down the warden’s request to be the next “mad dog,” but changes his mind when the warden initially uses Joaquin.  Archie is always trying to do the right thing and agrees to take his place, which involves some kind of fighting pit for entertainment.  Archie starts winning fights, but the warden reminds him that he wants him to put on more of a show.  Archie ultimately decides to take several punches before ending the fight, giving the warden the entertainment he is looking for without beating his opponent badly.  The warden approves and recognizes Archie’s star potential, but Archie realizes that he needs to get out of there before things escalate further.  Archie has clearly been watching one too many episodes of Prison Break, as he decides that they will need to plan their escape from jail.  Good luck Archie.

“We know all each other’s secrets.”

Betty decides to approach Evelyn, even though she gives off a major creepy vibe, to find out more information about the farm and its possible connection to the game.  Betty is surprised when Evelyn and some members of the farm show up at her house, ready to find out all of Betty’s secrets.  Although I’m not sure there is much left to tell since they already know about the body in the kitchen and Betty’s “webcamming” past.  Alice has disclosed all of their family secrets, but does she know what she is doing?  Betty requests an audience with Edgar, but is turned down.  She tries to make a connection to the seizures, but no one seems willing to open up to her.  Alice even tells her daughter that she trusts the farm more than her, which is heartbreaking to hear.  Betty recognizes that the farm is a threat, but will she be able to find out what is really going on there before it’s too late?

“Welcome to your first game.”

After approaching Ethel again after her seizure, she determines that Jughead is worthy to play the game.  Ethel agrees to hand over the rule book or the “scripture” only after he completes his first test.  You would think possibly drinking poison would be punishment enough, but Ethel tells Jughead that he also needs to kiss her in order to obtain the rule book.  Poor Jughead.  For some reason, Ethel decides to drink from the other cup and winds up in the hospital again, but is OK for now.  However, she is having conversations with “The Gargoyle King” and explains that she found him someone truly worthy to play, meaning Jughead.  Later on, FP and Alice discover the rule book and burn it, not wanting their children anywhere near it.  Betty and Jughead quickly realize that their parents know something about the game, but we still don’t get any concrete answers here.  Later on, everyone gets their very own copy of the rule book placed in their school lockers, revealing that “the real game is just beginning.”  New episodes return November 7thStay tuned!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 2: “You’re not Saving the World Rick. You’re just Getting it Ready for Me”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 2, I realized that restoring a bridge is not just about connecting different places.  While you may be able to get to point B easier from point A, it’s not that simple when it comes to building a bridge between groups of people, especially when these people do not agree on everything.  So do you keep trying to build it anyway or do you sever the link before it becomes too much to handle?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Bridge,” the communities attempt to work together to restore the bridge, but not everyone is on the same page.  Meanwhile, Jesus and Michonne try to get through to Maggie and Daryl continues to clash with Rick.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 2 are:

5

“Mother Goose?”

Even though everyone is trying to create a new beginning, one cannot ignore that the world is still filled with death and despair.  Sometimes these episodes can get a bit heavy and Tara provides some much needed comic relief.  Tara is the “eye in the sky” and tries to radio over to Rick when she sees a potential threat of walkers headed their way.  Tara hilariously refers to Rick as “Mother Goose,” but he does not seem to be too fond of the code name.  I like the code name; however, and it’s nice to see someone take a minute to have a good laugh.  Thanks Tara!

4

“It’s about the small moments.”

During the episode, we continue to see some heartwarming moments between Carol and Ezekiel.  Ezekiel reminds Carol that it’s about the small moments and that he is not giving up on their fairy-tale just yet.  Even though Carol will be leaving his side for a while, Ezekiel understands that it is just “goodbye for now.”  Later on, Carol asks Ezekiel if he still has the ring and agrees to wear it, but she doesn’t want him to make a big production.  Ezekiel tries to get down on one knee and says that he has a speech prepared.  Carol had me laughing out loud when she responds, “I’m sure you did and you can read it to me later.”  Carol and Ezekiel are as different as they come, but there is something endearing about them so far, even though I’m still not shipping them just yet.  However, the writers are making it difficult for me because these moments are heartwarming for sure.

3

“I think some decisions are too big for one person to make.”

We learn that it has been a little more than a month since Gregory was executed and Maggie is refusing to let the wife of the man who attacked her visit him in his cell.  Michonne expresses her concerns again and Jesus tries to get through to Maggie, explaining that they need to have some kind of common law system in place.  Jesus and Michonne think that Maggie is a good person, but Jesus makes an excellent point when he explains that “good people can disagree.”  Maggie eventually has a change of heart after letting the man’s wife visit him and having a heart-to-heart talk with him as well.  Later on, she tells Michonne that they can talk about common laws, but she will still do what she thinks is right by her people.  When Michonne asks her what has changed, Maggie talks about her own father and says that he had a drinking problem too.  He deserved a second chance, but she reminds Michonne that Gregory had way too many chances and she’s absolutely right.  Maggie further explains, “Some people can be redeemed, but others can’t.”  When Michonne asks her who gets to make that decision, Maggie says that they will need to figure that out.  I’m glad to see that Maggie is willing to listen to the people around her while still maintaining her strong leadership and beliefs.  I have a feeling that we will definitely see some more differences in opinions; however, and we will have to stay tuned to see how far that escalates.

2

“Are we though?  On the same side?”

Tensions are continuing to run high, especially when some of the former Saviors get upset when they are told what to do.  Daryl clashes with one in particular and Rick has to break up a fight to keep the peace going.  Daryl has been trying to get through to Rick, but Rick has been trying so hard to keep his new world going.  Does that mean that he is willing to sacrifice his friendship with Daryl, however?  That doesn’t seem to be the case, as Rick is later confronted with the very same man after Aaron is severely injured because of this man’s negligence on the Walkie.  Rick tells him that he has met men like him before when he was a cop and we finally get a glimpse of the bad-ass Rick Grimes that we all love so much.  Rick tells him to leave the camp and warns him, “If I see your face again, stitches won’t fix what I do to you.”  Rick stands up for Daryl here, but he also recognizes that not everyone is on board with the new world he is creating.  While Rick doesn’t believe in executing others, he is willing to banish them to get his point across.  While I appreciate what Rick is trying to build here in his community, he also needs to remember that not everyone has the best intentions and he has to protect the people around him.  Don’t lose that edge just yet Rick.

1

“You’re not saving the world Rick.  You’re just getting it ready for me.”

Rick has been talking to Negan about how they are building and growing as a community.  He tells Negan that they had a bad day, but that they all came together at the end and that was their choice.  In a previous moment, Aaron tells Rick that “it’s not the end of the world anymore” because Rick changed it and he’s glad to be a part of it.  Aaron has just lost his arm and is still happy to be a part of the world that Rick is creating, giving Rick some hope and encouragement that he is doing the right thing.  After Rick tells Negan about the day, Negan responds, “That’s a really pretty picture you paint there Rick.”  Rick tells him that he will never see it and loses his temper when Negan brings up Carl.  Negan reminds Rick that everything will eventually fall apart and he will be right there waiting in the wings.  We know that there are still some Saviors who believe in Negan, but is there another threat present as well?  At the end of the episode, the man who attacked Daryl is talking to someone on the road back and is attacked.  Who is this new threat?  We’ll have to wait and find out, but Rick needs to remember that he should never underestimate Negan, even if he is behind bars right now.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 1 season premiere: “The Famous Rick Grimes”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s The Walking Dead season 9 episode 1 season premiere, I learned that a new beginning doesn’t necessarily mean that the past is left behind entirely.  Even though change is possible, there is always something or someone threatening to bring the old ways back.  So what do we do when that happens?  Do we erase the warning signs and pretend like it doesn’t exist or do we stand up and make a point to show that we mean business?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “A New Beginning,” the group heads out on a field trip to the state capital.  Meanwhile, Maggie quickly begins to realize that being the leader is not easy, Daryl wants a change in scenery, and Rick finally feels happy and lucky to have Michonne by his side.  My top 5 moments from The Walking Dead season 9 episode 1 season premiere are:

5

“Put that thing away.”

Well Carol definitely deserves a king of sorts, especially since her former husband, Ed, was one of the worst people on the planet.  During the episode, we learn that Carol and Ezekiel are together romantically, but this was almost put on hold when Ezekiel was skating on thin ice at the capital museum.  Luckily he made it out OK and will live to see another day.  Ezekiel asks Carol to marry him and she is beyond shocked.  She hilariously tells him to put the ring away and further explains that “this is not happening on a horse.”  Ezekiel is fully supportive of Carol and tells her that he will keep it until she is ready.  While I’m not necessarily on board for these two just yet, I do think that Carol absolutely deserves a chance at happiness, but there is someone else I am rooting for instead.  Team “Caryl” anyone?

4

“We are still Negan.”

During the episode, we learn that Daryl is in charge of leading The Sanctuary and that Rick has made quite an impression on everyone there.  Rick has been showing up with food and supplies and is trying to keep everyone happy, which is a difficult job to do.  Even though everyone seems happy and one man even says, “Bless you Rick Grimes,” a resistance may still be brewing within the factory walls.  Rick notices that someone wrote, “We are still Negan” on the wall and they want it painted over.  While I understand that they want to keep this type of messaging out of here, I’m not sure that painting over it like it doesn’t exist will make the threat go away.  Daryl further tells Rick that he doesn’t want to be the one leading these people anymore and feels that he is better out in the open.  Rick reminds Daryl of his importance there, but Daryl is not buying it any longer.  Daryl tells Rick that “everyone’s everywhere” and that there is “no us anymore” and maybe he’s right.  Daryl much prefers the idea of a small group and says it’s what he knows, but that’s also what Daryl understands as his family and purpose.  While this disagreement between Rick and Daryl definitely foreshadows a possible divide, one cannot ignore the threat that “The Saviors” might be waiting in the wings to take advantage of any sign of weakness from Rick’s group.

3

“If anyone deserves to be happy, it’s you.”

Swoon!  I have been missing these absolutely beautiful moments between Daryl and Carol and this was a great one for sure.  Daryl truly cares for Carol and just wants her to be happy, but he does say that he doesn’t like not seeing her.  Carol agrees to take over for Daryl for a little while even though that means leaving Ezekiel behind, but she recognizes that it is something she needs to do for her great friend and to support the group.  Carol opens up to Daryl and explains that even though Ezekiel is corny, “Corny is nice after Ed.”  Daryl is someone that Carol can always trust and count on, but I have to admit that I am still shipping these two together and hope that they can make it work somehow.  No offense your majesty.

2

“How’d I get so lucky finding you?”

“The famous Rick Grimes” is back, but we know that it is only a matter of time before we say goodbye to him forever.  I’m not ready to cry just yet; however, and I love the fact that Rick is finally embracing the people around him even after losing Carl.  There is a beautiful moment when Rick is watching his daughter, Judith, painting a picture of her and Carl while Michonne helps.  Rick, Michonne, and Judith have really become a watercolor painting of a beautiful family and it seems like everything is almost too perfect to be true.  Rick recognizes how lucky he is and Michonne tells him that it’s time they both won a little and I couldn’t agree more.  However, we know that happiness is often short-lived on TWD and I am not looking forward to seeing this happy family separated forever.  I guess ignorance is bliss for now.

1

“I made this decision but this is not the beginning of something.”

During the episode, we learn that Maggie was voted the leader of Hilltop over Gregory and we meet her beautiful son, Hershel.  It seems like everything is going well, but Maggie quickly realizes that being a leader is no easy task and she has to deal with the consequences that come her way.  During their run, Maggie loses Ken and his parents are absolutely devastated.  Maggie clearly feels awful, but understands that this is probably not the last time that something like this will happen.  Gregory takes this opportunity to plant a seed and tries to manipulate Ken’s father by bribing this sober man with alcohol.  If that wasn’t bad enough, Gregory tells Maggie that he saw someone defacing Glenn’s grave to catch her off guard.  Maggie is attacked by a man in a hood and I was horrified when the baby carriage turned over and her son was on the ground screaming.  Seriously this was absolutely horrible to watch.  With the help of some of her people, Maggie is able to get away OK and we learn that the hooded man was Ken’s father, but Maggie quickly realizes that the man behind the curtain is Gregory.  Maggie confronts Gregory and tells him “you tried to have me killed because you’re too chicken shit to do it yourself.”  Gregory tries to attack Maggie, but when she turns the tables on him, there is fear written all over his face.  Rick later goes to see Maggie and clearly feels bad about what happened, but asks if she will consider giving more food to The Sanctuary.  Maggie wants something in return and reminds Rick, “I survived worse but it has to stop.”  Maggie makes the decision to have Gregory hung for his betrayal in front of the group.  She takes complete ownership of her decision, but also tells her people that she doesn’t want this to continue.  Maggie has given Gregory so many chances and he continued to try and betray her and I think that some sort of punishment is fitting, although I’m not sure that we want to resort back to the days of public hangings.  Especially when some of the children witness what is going on, it really puts things into perspective.

While the group needs to start over, that doesn’t mean that they get to decide who lives and who dies and even Michonne recognizes that they all need to have some rules and agreements put in place before all hell breaks loose and she is absolutely right.  That being said, Maggie is a pillar of strength and is one to watch for sure.  She could have been broken and defeated after being attacked, but she chose to stay strong and make a point to her people.  Whether it was the right call or not, I’m not sad to see Gregory go.  It will be interesting to see how these three groups work together and how long it will take before they are divided again when they don’t agree on something.  Either way, I’m looking forward to see how it all unfolds.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Walking Dead below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 4 episode 16 season finale: “We’re Coming For You”

Happy Tuesday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 16 season finale, I think that John Dorie got it absolutely right when he says that “Some fish in this world you can’t catch no matter what you dangle in front of them.”  So do you leave them be or do you keep trying, even though you know what the outcome might be?  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “…I Lose Myself,” we catch up with Al and witness her struggle to escape the walkers who are surrounding her at the parking garage at every corner.  Meanwhile, Morgan makes the decision to go after Martha alone, promising his friends that he will catch up to them, but they are all in for a threat that no one saw coming.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 16 season finale are:

5

“I want you to give him a message.”

In the beginning of the episode, Al is surrounded by walkers and ends up in a parking garage near the hospital.  Al tries to get a message to Morgan and the others over the Walkie, but is not able to get through to them.  Martha catches up to Al; however, and unleashes poor zombie Jimbo on her, but Al is able to stop the immediate threat on her life.  However, she hesitates when faced against Martha, who knocks her out.  Martha later tells Al that she thinks she is strong and that she watched her tape.  She uses Al as a message for Morgan and includes a tape of her very own for him.  Even though Al is strong, she does still hold on to her humanity, which is the main reason why she hesitated when it came to eliminating Martha.  Luckily Al is all right for now, but that was a close call for sure.  Great to have you back Al!

4

“Leave them be.”

John Dorie gives Morgan some really strong advice about what to do about Martha, but Morgan insists on trying anyway.  During the entire season, I have been very touched by the strong friendship between John and Morgan.  John later radios out to Morgan that he is the strongest person he knows, remembering that he was there when Morgan was at his breaking point.  John may be the first person who really got through to Morgan after he left Alexandria and has become a strong motivator for him now.  John is a true believer and even though his own faith has been tested, he stays true to his positivism, which is infectious to everyone around him…in a good way.

3

“Have you seen the movie selection here?”

John and June finally have a moment together when they are browsing the shelves at the truck stop.  This gives June a sense of nostalgia and John teasingly comments that the movie selection is a bit lacking, however.  June finally opens up to John and lets her guard down, explaining that she was afraid that he would realize that she wasn’t who he thought she was.  John touches our hearts and souls when he says, “I know you.  Doesn’t take a whole day to recognize sunshine.”  As corny as it may sound, it is so true to who John Dorie is and you can’t help but smile here and cheer when these two finally embrace and share a passionate kiss.  It’s about time you two!

2

“You either kill me or I kill you.”

After watching Martha’s message, Morgan decides to go after her alone.  Morgan explains that he understands Martha because he used to be her.  He further reveals that she thinks killing is the only way, which is something that still haunts Morgan now.  Martha is severely injured and Morgan offers to help her.  He finds her at mile marker 54, lying next to her husband’s grave and Martha does open up to Morgan about her husband in the police car.  Martha reveals just a sliver of hope here, but she refuses to let Morgan make her be weak.  When Morgan tries to hand her the medicine, she attacks him and the car is run off the road.  Martha has been given so many chances, but Morgan is still not able to end her life.  Even after being badly injured himself, he tells himself that he has to keep going, especially when he learns that Martha has poisoned his friends by putting antifreeze in the drinking water.  Morgan comes very close to killing Martha, but spots the reflection of “I lose people…I lose myself,” written on his forehead.  Even though it was not Martha’s intention, this actually saved her life, as it was a reminder to Morgan about who he was before and who he can still be now.  Morgan chooses life and desperately tries to make it to his friends on foot before it’s too late.

1

“Hang in there.  We’re coming for you.”

Morgan finally gets through to his friends over the Walkie and June reveals that they need ethanol to counteract the antifreeze poisoning.  Luckily there is a truck filled with it right outside.  Seems simple enough, right?  Well we know that nothing comes easy on Fear TWD.  The group does a fantastic job of distracting the walkers and making it to the truck and Al unleashes her fury on the horde by opening fire on them.  Unfortunately, the truck begins leaking out the ethanol they need and it looks like all hope is lost.  Just when it seems like they are all running out of time for good, Morgan heroically shows up with Jim’s old beer truck, ready to help save his friends.  Sarah comments that Jimbo has saved their lives twice now.  Morgan eliminated walker Jimbo back at the police car, but hopefully he can rest in peace knowing that he truly did save his friends.  In a heartwarming moment, Victor also opens up to Alicia and is happy to finally have a new drinking partner, realizing that Madison would want it to be this way.  Morgan does ultimately head back to check on Martha and discovers her bloody arm hanging from the cuff.  Walker Martha is stumbling down the street and Morgan eliminates her as a threat once and for all.  So long Martha.  I can’t say that we’ll miss you.  Everyone is ready to head off to Virginia, but Morgan decides that he doesn’t want to go there anymore and takes them to the Denim Factor that “Polar Bear,” otherwise known as Clayton, used.  Morgan explains that no one is being forced to stay, but that they can truly do something great here.  Alicia adds that they can build this into something more and that’s how you help people, truly trying to reestablish her mother’s vision.  They decide to start with the tapes and find people out there who need their help, allowing Clayton’s work to continue on, holding on to the hope that there is still good in the world.  Even though it seems like they are surrounded by death and despair, Morgan and the others have learned the importance of helping others and that it does matter.  At the end of the episode, Morgan tells anyone who may be listening, “Hang in there.  We’re coming for you,” hopefully sparking the belief in anyone who may have lost their way.  The season finale ends on a positive note, rather than a major cliffhanger, which was actually refreshing.  The whole concept of helping others has been present during season 4 and this was the perfect way to honor that and inspire hope in fans everywhere that Morgan Jones and the rest of the group will continue to try and bring some life back into the world…one box at a time.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 4 episode 15: “Jimbo’s Beerbos”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 15, I realized that even though we may want to handle things ourselves, it’s OK to ask for help sometimes.  While we may be able to survive on our own, we can’t truly live without the love and support of those around us.  That’s what it means to have a family.  You’re there for one another through the good times and the bad and through the joy and the sorrow.  It’s never too late to do the right thing, even if you were once considered a “Class A Asshole.”  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “I Lose People…” Morgan and the others try to figure out a way to get off the rooftop to safety and are determined to find Al.  Meanwhile, Alicia and Charlie attempt to save John and Victor and end up crossing paths with Martha on the way.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 15 are:

5

“Poetry in a bottle.  That’s you too.”

In the beginning of the episode, Morgan is desperately trying to figure out a way off the rooftop.  While he tries to figure this all out, Jim takes his frustration out on his situation by urinating on the walkers below, explaining that it’s “the only FU I got here.”  Even though Jim knows he has a death sentence, he still insists on blaming Morgan for everything.  Morgan tries to explain to Jim that he can decide how he goes and that he can still help and make a difference, but Jim is not on board.  Sarah asks Jim for the recipe to his beer, explaining that it’s “poetry in a bottle.  That’s you too.  That can live on.”  While Sarah is absolutely right, Jim is not ready to accept this just yet and initially declines giving her the recipe, earning his deserving new title:  “Class A Asshole.”  While I can understand why Jim has a lot of mixed emotions swirling around inside him right now, he has the chance to do some real good in his final moments, but will he continue to waste them complaining about his circumstances?

“Find my goddamn tapes and keep them safe.”

Morgan and the others try to go back the way they came, looking for Al by the generator and Sarah finds a note from her.  The group learns that Al’s Walkie died and that she is headed for the freight elevator to find a way out.  Al asks the group to find her tapes and keep them safe.  She also reminds them that “if you find that C word, settle her shit.”  Sarah hilariously adds “she didn’t use the C word.  She went for the full quesadilla.”  While we have yet to see Al, it is safe to assume that she is alive especially since we see her in the preview for the season finale next week.  However, we know that some of our main characters appeared in flashbacks and other episodes even after they had died so no one is really that safe on Fear TWD.  Either way, I am rooting for Al and I want to see her continue her story on the show.  Al is tough and fully capable of taking care of herself, but Martha continues to threaten everyone in the group.  Something tells me that she is no match for Al, however.  After all, Martha stole Al’s van and Al is definitely not about to let this go.

“It appears to be the cocktail hour.”

At the end of last week’s episode, we were left wondering who Alicia and Charlie spotted across the water.  We have now confirmed that it was in fact John and Victor.  I love a good reunion on this show and it was nice to see John’s lack of faith restored, especially after he got to speak to June.  Alicia and Charlie went looking for a boat, but ran into some trouble along the way when Martha began shooting at them.  Martha is severely injured, but is continuing to cause trouble.  Alicia and Charlie decide to take her with them, remembering that Morgan wanted to help her, but is this really the right call?  They say keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but Martha is a little bit too close for comfort for me, even though her hands are restrained.  Either way, Alicia drives the tank through the water and picks up her friends, providing us with a much needed glimmer of hope.

“You told me to help people.  That’s what I’m doing.”

Morgan decides to create a distraction to help his friends make it out of the hospital, accepting that he will be left behind.  To Morgan’s surprise, everyone comes back to help save him with a fire truck.  The ladder still works, but is a little bit out of reach for Morgan.  Everyone radios to Morgan that they are there to help him and it’s wonderful to see that someone so initially against being around other people has made such a difference and brought so many people together.  Many of the characters have been lost or broken, but somehow they are all here now to help protect their family, refusing to leave anyone behind.  Morgan has done so much good here without even realizing it, but he now has to safely make it to the ladder.  This task is already challenging, but of course we need to throw in an angry walker to spice things up, almost killing Morgan at the edge of the balcony.  Luckily, John still has excellent aim and eliminates the threat and Morgan makes it to the truck.  Now about all these walkers surrounding them…

“It’s OK Morgan.  I got this.”

The group is completely surrounded by walkers and Morgan once again contemplates going off on his own to help them escape.  Jim finally steps up to the plate and is ready to help his friends and die with dignity.  Jim radios his beer recipe to Sarah and tells her to keep the last component a secret.  Jim gives the group the distraction they need when he jumps off the rooftop and lands on a parked car, setting off another alarm so his friends can get away.  This moment is truly important because Jim was so initially focused on his own circumstances.  After watching the selfless actions of everyone around him, Jim finally realizes that he can determine how he goes out just like Morgan said to him.  Jim has redeemed himself and his memory will absolutely live on with his beer.  From “Class A Asshole” to redeemed hero.  I like the sound of that.  Sarah and the others decide on calling the beer “Jimbo’s Beerbos,” which Morgan says he would have probably hated, but I have to admit that I definitely like the sound of it.  Morgan suggests that they find Al and all head to Virginia together, which seems like a good enough plan, but Martha has somehow escaped and has now recruited poor walker Jim to her cause, making him her next pet.  While Morgan has stated that he wants to help Martha, I think that she is too far gone at this point.  Will he realize this before it’s too late?  Stay tuned for the season finale next week!

She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season 13 episode 2: “The Gang Escapes”

Happy Friday TV fans!  Have you ever wanted to play the escape room game?  It’s a trend that is happening all over and of course the gang from Patty’s Pub has to get in on the action.  After watching the FXX network’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 2 last night, I realized that while teamwork may be the most important element needed to win the game, the gang always has something else up their sleeves so that they wind up the winners.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In Wednesday night’s episode, “The Gang Escapes,” the gang puts their best effort forward to excel at the escape the room game, but realize that a lot is at stake especially when “power plays” are introduced along with some much needed “riffing.”  My top 5 moments from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 2 are:

5

“Don’t judge me nerd.”

Dee is very excited to participate in the escape the room game and even begins looking for clues before she is technically allowed to.  We quickly find out that Dee has already played this particular escape game and was looking forward to showing off her detective skills to the group.  Only unfortunately for Dee, the gang decides to lock her in Dennis’s room, which is completely soundproof.  More on that later.  Dee tries to team up with the woman running the escape room game, but is upset when she doesn’t jump at the chance to get back at Dee’s friends, reminding Dee that the game is supposed to be about communication and teamwork and that this makes her uncomfortable.  Dee hilariously replies, “let’s see how comfortable you get when they get frustrated and start smashing all your shit,” proving that she knows her friends better than anyone else.  As if right on cue, the smashing begins.

4

“That’s power play.”

The gang begins to disagree on who the leader should be so they decide to break up into teams:  Mac and Dennis and Charlie and Frank.  Dennis feels the rush of power and is excited that they have a clue in their grasp.  However, he begins to get distracted by Frank’s obnoxious chewing of gum, recognizing it as a power play and classic angry Dennis makes an appearance.  Dennis begins freaking out and yells, “Can I riff?  I’m just riffing now.  Will you go get my gum?”  Mac does his best to obtain the gum from Charlie, but Frank also explains that this could be considered “power play,” confirming Dennis’s theory on becoming the “head cow.”  I don’t understand it any better than you do, but it is absolutely hilarious that both Dennis and Frank recognize the potential power play going on here.

3

“You didn’t say the safe word.”

While Dee is locked up in Dennis’s room, she accidentally triggers his laptop, which dims the lights and makes the bed even vibrate.  A message comes up on the laptop with Dennis surrounded by hearts and greets her by saying, “welcome sexual conquest.”  Dee begins freaking out, not wanting any part of her brother’s creepy sexual playground, but the message continues to go on while Stacey Q’s, “Two of Hearts” song begins to play, which you can listen to here!  She desperately tries to turn everything off, but is scolded when she doesn’t use the safe word.  I’m still wondering what that is.  Poor Dee!

2

“To us as men!”

Mac and Dennis finally come to an agreement with Charlie and Frank, as they all sit down for a summit to discuss the terms of their negotiation.  Charlie hilariously works in a new accent and says that they can commence with the turning of the key as long as he can remain “the speaker of the tribe.”  They commend themselves on a job well done as men and turn over the lock and key clues so they can win the game.  Only they quickly realize that this was only the first clue in the escape game and there are like 20 or 30 more things to complete.  Whoops.

1

“You really were the quarterback.”

In the beginning of the episode, Dee really wanted to show the gang that she was capable of being a good leader and said that she wanted to be the quarterback of the team.  While the gang initially reminded her that this is only a title reserved for men, Dee ends up changing their minds.  Dee escapes Dennis’s sex dungeon by climbing out the window to his surprise, as he mentions that no one else has been able to do so.  Dee accidentally falls off the ledge and says she is going to sue the makers of the game.  The woman who ran the game explains that nothing like this has ever happened before.  Luckily Dee is all right, but she is at the hospital with the rest of the gang by her side.  The woman reluctantly takes their photo even though they didn’t win the game, but they quickly convince her that they did in fact win in their own way.  The gang tells Dee, “You really were the quarterback,” allowing her to rejoice in a temporary moment of victory.  The gang certainly proved to be up for any challenge, but I’m still not sure they understand the concept of teamwork.  Either way, a win is a win and I am definitely on team Sunny!  Stay tuned!
