Ranking the top 5 moments from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season 13 episode 10 season finale: “Mac Finds His Pride”

Happy Saturday TV fans!  After watching the FXX network’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 10 season finale, Mac presented us with a performance that was profound and moving.  While I’m not sure his dad really got it, he sure did captivate the rest of the audience.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In Wednesday night’s episode, “Mac Finds His Pride,” Frank’s mission is to get Mac to dance on the Paddy’s Pub float in the pride parade, but Mac is not too sure he wants to participate, as he starts to realize that he would rather share the truth with his father instead.  Only we know that Mac’s dad is not the friendliest guy in the world.  My top 5 moments from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 13 episode 10 season finale are:

5

“What year is it in your head?”

In the beginning of the episode, Frank is extremely motivated to play his part and get Mac to perform on the Paddy’s Pub float in the pride parade.  Mac is not really on board with this however; as he is still not sure on his own identity as a gay man.  Frank tries to make Mac comfortable, but fails miserably as he first takes him to some kind of S&M club and then tries out “Pookie’s,” which is a club for drag queens.  Mac doesn’t think he quite fits in at either place and hilariously asks Frank what year he thinks it is in his head, as Frank is not really sure where to take Mac next to find his pride.  I guess it’s the thought that counts?

4

“So the only thing that’s missing is Mac…”

While the episode is mostly centered on Mac and Frank, we do get to briefly see Dee and Charlie, who are working very hard on their Paddy’s Pub float, which is actually out of this world and even features a bar on top.  Nice work guys!  We start to realize that the gang may have an ulterior motive, as they admit to wanting to attract some more customers to the bar and Mac could be the key, but Frank is still not able to follow through with his one and only job.

3

“There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you…”

After Frank’s failed attempts to help Mac find his identity, Mac comes to the conclusion that he wants to share everything with his father.  Mac’s father, Luther, is always hilarious, as he has really mastered the cold-blooded killer vibe.  When Mac asks him how he is doing, he calmly talks about his problems with his cell mate by explaining, “I cut out his tongue with a rusty pair of pliers and fed it to the maggots.”  Mac is not really sure what to say to this and just simply replies with, “Cool.”  I’m not sure I would know how to react either.  After Mac tries to start telling his dad about his complicated dream about being gay, Luther thinks that Mac has gotten a girl pregnant and is thrilled to be a grandfather.  Only it better be a son or else Mac will need to start over.  Mac is always seeking his father’s approval and starts to think that perhaps he does need to get a girl pregnant, but Frank tries to keep him on track.  After all, he doesn’t want him to “go back in the closet.”

2

“He looks like a monster.”

After Frank explains that he thinks Mac may be going “back in the closet,” Dee and Charlie need to find a replacement for him on the float.  Cricket shows up dressed in some kind of biker leather combo that shows off his many scars, but I’m not sure this will attract the right clientele, as Charlie hilariously comments, “He looks like a monster.”  Well at least he is willing to participate for the loose change in Dee’s pocket.

1

“I get it.”

Frank arranges for Mac to put on a performance for his father and the other inmates, realizing that Mac needs to finally tell his dad the truth.  Mac actually brings his dream to life and puts on a beautiful and heart wrenching dance performance in the rain with his female partner, who literally came out of nowhere.  Either way, she was extremely talented.  While Mac’s father gets up and leaves, all of the other inmates are mesmerized by Mac’s movements and Frank finally understands when he says, “I get it.”  It looks like Mac has finally found his identity and pride while showcasing his incredible dance skills as well.  I guess that’s the end of the new season, but I’m hoping for the gang to return soon, especially since we know that the series has been renewed through Season 14.  Stay tuned!

When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Purge” season 1 episode 10 Season Finale: “Let’s Go Save Some Lives”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching the USA network’s The Purge season 1 episode 10 season finale last night, the voice over reminded us that, “Participation is dangerous.  It’s risky.  But that risk gives way to unyielding rewards.  Just make sure you’re ready for a world of possibility.  Anything can happen.”  Anything can happen indeed, as we all placed our bets to determine who would be victorious at the end of Purge Night.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “A Nation Reborn,” Joe puts Rick and Jenna on trial and we find out exactly why he is holding a grudge against them.  Meanwhile, Miguel and Pete the Cop continue to work together to make it to the school on time and Penelope has a plan of her very own that you’ll never see coming.  My top 5 moments from The Purge season 1 episode 10 season finale are:

5

“I know.  Stop reminding me.”

It’s Rick and Jenna’s turn to face their own trial and Rick tries to tell Joe that his wife is pregnant, but Joe is unimpressed by this and tells Rick to stop reminding him about it.  We get a detailed flashback that reveals that Joe was going to do the security for Rick and Jenna’s building, but that Rick voided the contract when he wasn’t satisfied by the work.  Joe tried to beg Rick to consider, explaining that this would ruin him, but Rick refused.  Rick reminds Joe that he did pay him, but Joe doesn’t want to hear it.  While this explains Rick’s involvement, what about Jenna?  Joe blames her for “willful ignorance” and says that she is “guilty by association.”  After all, there really is no reasoning with Joe.  Jenna is beyond upset at this point and blames Rick initially.  She tells him, “You put us here.”  Rick continues to try and get through to Joe, reminding him that it was just business, but this is the last thing Joe wants to hear.

4

“I got a stupid idea.”

Miguel and Pete the Cop are still trying to make it to the school, but they are not having an easy time doing so.  These two are an unstoppable team and they work very well together.  Miguel and Pete the Cop take out Rex and his men one at a time, setting them up and knocking them down.  When they finally arrive at the school, they realize that they need to do something about the doors being rigged and Pete has “a stupid idea.”  Pete tells Rex he wants to make a deal and lures him over to the trip wire that Miguel set up.  Pete is very convincing and the plan works like a charm.  Seriously can we give these two their own spin-off series?  Even after Pete gets shot, he is still fighting; reminding us that you can’t get rid of him that easily.  I have to say that I was very happy that Pete ended up remaining one of the good guys, as he is definitely one to root for.  Even though Miguel was doing just fine on his own, this partnership really elevated their status as bad-ass heroes.

3

“Do it for our baby.”

Joe has heard enough and tells Jenna that he does believe in fairness and offers her the chance to save her and her baby’s life by purging her husband.  While we know that Jenna and Rick have had their fair share of problems, I’m not sure that Jenna is capable of doing this.  Rick tells Jenna that he loves her so much and Jenna tells him that she loves him too.  Rick tells her to do it for their baby and Jenna pulls the trigger, but the gun is not loaded, revealing that this was one of Joe’s twisted tests.  After Jenna and Rick make it away from Joe, Rick is shot and killed when he tries to save Jenna.  It looks like Rick will not be getting that cruise to Tahiti anytime soon, but at least he redeemed himself and proved his love to Jenna and his unborn child.

2

“I think I can get us out of here.”

While Rick and Jenna are on trial, Penelope continues to try and break free.  After several attempts, she is successful and frees the other prisoner as well named Paige.  Penelope thinks outside the box and taps into Joe’s twisted mind, realizing what she needs to do next.  Penelope holds a screw to Paige’s throat and tells Joe that she will purge her.  Joe takes the bait and says that she is his purge, playing right into Penelope’s trap.  Penelope viciously stabs Joe in the eye with the screw and runs away with Paige.  What’s with Penelope and her brother trying to blind their victims?  Is this like a thing?  I have to admit that it was extremely disturbing to watch Joe pull the screw out of his eye, but he is not ready to give up just yet.  Either way, it’s safe to say that Penelope is no longer the victim.  She has found her strength and she is not about to give up now.

1

“The country you’re destroying, I want to help rebuild.”

After Penelope runs away from Joe, Paige refuses to listen to her and ends up getting killed by one of his traps.  Penelope keeps going and finally comes face to face with Joe by the pool.  Penelope is not afraid; however, as she stands up to Joe and tries to tell him everything that is wrong with Purge Night.  Penelope wants to help people and explains that others are ready for change as well.  Joe is like a stubborn child and continues to repeat lines from the voice over and we finally learn where the voice over comes from.  Penelope is all too familiar with these lines and she says they are from Bobby Sheridan’s lectures and that the cult used to listen to them to try and understand why purgers were broken.  Penelope asks Joe, “If purging really worked, wouldn’t we stop needing it?”  Only Joe doesn’t want to hear anything else.  Miguel finally arrives and shoots Joe, but Joe refuses to die.  Penelope fights him as well and they are all interrupted by the siren, indicating the end of Purge Night.  Joe backs away and understands the rules, but threatens Miguel and Penelope, reminding them that he will find them next year.  Miguel is not ready to take that chance and shoots Joe and pushes him in the pool.  We know that this is considered illegal now that Purge Night is over, but Pete has Miguel’s back and tells him that he heard the shots fired before the siren.

So our final survivors are Miguel, Penelope, Jenna, and Pete the Cop.  At the end of the episode, we flash to a year later and see Jenna with her baby and Miguel and Penelope at Pete’s bar, getting ready to go out and save some lives.  The voice over reminds us that “Purge Night ends, but The Purge goes on and on.”  After all, there is always next year and we now know that The Purge has been renewed for a second season.  See you in 2019 fellow citizens!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Purge below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Fear the Walking Dead” season 4 episode 10: “I Can See Her In You”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 10, I remembered that good memories can save your life.  You may try to forget the past, but the good in those we lost before can help us find our way, even if it seems like it is hopeless.  We can find strength in ourselves and in others just by opening our hearts a little bit, just enough to let someone else in who may be in as much pain as we are.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Close Your Eyes,” the storm has arrived and Alicia tries to find shelter on her own, but quickly realizes that she has an uninvited guest that she is now trapped with.  Alicia desperately wants to do the right thing, but has trouble facing the person she holds responsible for killing her family.  My top 5 moments from Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 10 are:

5

“You can never make up for it.”

While Alicia begins securing the house and taking out the walker family residing, she quickly discovers that Charlie is there too.  Alicia panics and tells Charlie that she can’t be there, fearing what she might do to her.  Alicia has a lot of bottled up pain and anger toward Charlie and rightfully so.  Alicia is still a good person; however, and tells Charlie that she can’t send her out in the storm, but is worried that she may kill her if she stays there.  Even though Alicia doesn’t physically harm Charlie, her words cut straight to the bone.  Alicia tells Charlie that she is a waste of a person and that she wants her to stay alive so she can live with the pain and guilt of what she did to her family.  Alicia’s brutal honesty clearly impacts Charlie, especially when she tells her that she can never forgive her.  At this point, it’s clear that both Alicia and Charlie are in pain, unsure of how to deal with it.  While Alicia puts her feelings out in the open, Charlie remains quiet for a long time, which creates an interesting contrast between these two.  We all handle pain and grief in our own way.  Sometimes we want to scream so loud that the earth will shake and other times we want to quietly numb ourselves, secluded away from the rest of the world.  Alicia and Charlie’s worlds are about to collide; however, forcing them to deal with the pain that has been locked inside both of them for so long.

4

“Why did you save me?”

During the episode, both Alicia and Charlie spot a walker pinned by a tree branch outside the bedroom window.  Charlie heads outside toward the walker, getting closer and closer to death, but Alicia pulls her away in the nick of time.  Charlie finally speaks and asks Alicia why she saved her.  Alicia suddenly realizes that the gun Charlie held on to was not for her.  Charlie had come here to end her own life, but Alicia reminds her once again that she needs to live with it and that she can’t help her.  While Alicia continues to do the right thing, she still cannot completely open up to Charlie.  However, this moment is important because we start to truly understand Charlie’s character.  While she has made many mistakes previously, she’s not that different from Alicia and the others, as she tries to find some way to cope with her loss.

3

“Sometimes when I’m reading I just like to close my eyes and try to see what I just read about.”

Charlie begins to open up to Alicia and tries to break the ice.  She asks her about living in California, intrigued by the idea of the beach.  Charlie’s love for reading and books starts to make more sense, as she explains the need to try and find some kind of escape in these words and stories.  Alicia coldly responds that the beach is just like everywhere else, now covered with the dead.  While Charlie is disappointed with her answer, Alicia begins to understand her more and more now.

2

“I can’t end up like them.”

Later in the episode, Alicia and Charlie end up trapped in the basement, as the water begins to quickly rise, threatening their lives.  Charlie begins to panic and tells Alicia that she doesn’t want to end up like the dead.  She tells Alicia that she saw her own parents turn and that she tries to remember what they looked like before, but she can’t.  Charlie’s interest in photographs adds up now, as she tries to create some kind of picture of what her parents looked like before.  She asks Alicia to end her life so that she doesn’t turn and Alicia even points the gun right at her head, but she can’t go through with it.  Alicia breaks down also and begins seeing images and pictures of the last moments of her family, which is heartbreaking.  Even though it is clearly difficult for Alicia to remember these moments, it gives her the strength she needs to do the right thing.  When all seems lost, the walker from the roof falls on the door to the basement, ultimately saving both Alicia and Charlie.  Whether this is coincidence or fate, I’m not so sure, but Alicia’s refusal to give up proves that she is more than just a survivor.  She is a force of nature, stronger than the storm outside.  Alicia finally channels her pain the right way, trying to keep her mother’s memory alive by doing so.

1

“Close your eyes…”

At the end of the episode, Alicia buries the walker family and has finally made a connection with Charlie.  Charlie tells Alicia that she can see her mother in her, which is truly heartwarming.  This leads to my absolute favorite moment of the episode, as Alicia and Charlie drive away.  Alicia tells Charlie, “Close your eyes…I’m going to take you to the beach.”  Charlie closes her eyes and Alicia walks her through every sight, smell, and sound.  Charlie tells her that she can see it all and can now also finally see her mom and dad again.  While this moment is truly touching, the escape is temporary, as Alicia quickly discovers that her friends are gone and tells Charlie that “things don’t get better…they get worse.”  Reality has surfaced again and we don’t yet know the fate of the other characters, but this episode was extremely significant for both Alicia and Charlie.  Alycia Debnam-Carey’s performance was so real and heartbreaking.  It’s like I could feel every breath she took and every word she blurted out, empathizing with the pain screaming inside her character.  While some of our favorite characters are gone, Alycia’s performance proved that she is a strong female protagonist, worthy of the lead and I am absolutely ready and willing to follow her.  It looks like we will determine Morgan’s fate next week.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Fear the Walking Dead in the comments section below.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The Affair” season 4 episode 10 Season Finale: “We are just so Lucky to be Alive”

Happy Sunday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s The Affair, I realized that life can be messy and unpredictable.  Sometimes the big moments all happen at once and sometimes we don’t even see them coming.  We can’t ever truly prepare ourselves for these moments, but it’s important to remember that we are lucky to be alive as Noah said and that each new day can bring a glimmer of hope that things can get better.  It may take time and our pain and grief may never fade away entirely, but it’s important to keep fighting and surviving for those around us.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In tonight’s episode, “410,” Noah tries to distract himself from his own grief by staying with Anton at Princeton, but he quickly realizes that there is somewhere else he needs to be.  Meanwhile, Cole has an extremely difficult time at Alison’s funeral and Helen tries to juggle her daughter’s return along with some shocking news from Sierra, all while Vik’s illness takes a turn for the worst.  My top 5 moments from The Affair season 4 episode 10 season finale are:

5

“You shouldn’t be here.”

Part one of the episode is from Noah’s perspective and he is still with Anton at Princeton.  Noah catches up with an old friend from school and he sits in on her writing class.  The students are beyond excited to meet Noah and tell him that he is the reason why they became writers and Noah explains that writing characters is all about listening to people.  Anton has truly perfected this difficult task when he reads his piece about a character that is a contradiction and describes Noah.  He starts out talking about how Noah is an inspiration and someone who truly wants to teach and be there for his students, but things take an unexpected turn when he then says, “He believes in my future…also he’s fucking my mother.”  Noah is upset at Anton and asks him why he would do that after all he has done for him.  Anton has certainly reached his full potential, but we know that Noah has a difficult time taking a good look in the mirror sometimes.  While he was initially upset with Anton’s words, he quickly realizes where Anton is coming from and appreciates when he says that he is sorry about Alison.  Noah is asked a few times what he is doing there and he finally realizes that it’s time to leave and deal with what has happened to Alison.  Anton thanks Noah for everything he has done for him and I have to say that it’s about time Noah has had a true connection with someone.  He may have trouble finding happiness with the women in his life, but he believed in Anton and helped him get on the right path.

4

“Can you please stop calling me Helen?”

“Surprise!”  Whitney is back with her boyfriend and is ready to stir things up per usual.  Helen is very happy to see her daughter, but she has been dealing with a lot of stress and Vik has been in the hospital because of an infection.  Helen does her best to tell Whitney about everything, but Whitney makes everything about her, proving that she hasn’t really changed very much since we last saw her.  Whitney attacks her mother and says, “I have my shit together, why can’t you?”  As if this moment wasn’t already chaotic enough, Sierra stops by with a “white butterfly,” and tells Helen that she needs to talk to her.  The phone then rings and Vik’s mother tells Helen that Vik is not doing well, as the whirlwind of stress escalates even further.  It’s understandable that Helen is having a difficult time coping with all of this at once and she manages to keep her dry sense of humor through it all, making me cheer for her that much more.

3

“How could you of all people be gone?”

In part two, we see everything from Cole’s perspective, as he prepares for Alison’s funeral.  We do get to hear Noah’s words about Alison at the service which are very moving and heartbreaking.  Noah says, “You were magic, you were light…you were wild, you were brave.  You made me see the world with new eyes…with wonder.”  Noah’s words were so romantic and moving.  While Cole has a difficult time finding the words, Noah paints a beautiful picture of Alison Bailey.  We see several old characters at the service like Oscar and Jane and even Ben makes a surprise guest appearance.  While this was very unsettling for me, Noah’s words really impacted me and I think he was able to speak for Cole as well, who is more about action rather than words.  We all grieve in our own way, but Alison was truly someone special and she will be missed by everyone.

2

“I was too late.  I am always too late.”

During the funeral for Alison, Cole is very upset with Athena, knowing that Alison would truly hate the idea of her ashes being scattered into the ocean.  When it is Cole’s time to speak, he grabs the urn and runs away from everyone and everything.  He ends up at Gabriel’s grave and sits there for quite a while.  Noah goes to speak to him and tries to remind him that he is not the only one who loved her and that this moment was important for Athena.  Later on, Cherry goes to see her son and Cole confides in her that he was coming back for Alison, but that he was too late, which is beyond heartbreaking.  Cherry lost her own husband to suicide and tries to explain that life is very messy and that she understands the desire to want to take control, but that we can’t always do so in every situation.  Cherry explains that it takes time, but the pain may never truly disappear.  However, she talks about Cole being a survivor and a fighter and more importantly, being there for Joanie.  Cole and Luisa recognize that their relationship is over, but Cole wants to keep their marriage intact on paper so that she can get her citizenship and because she is an important person in Joanie’s life.  While I’m not sure if this will go according to plan, Cole takes the time to take Joanie on a road trip away from everything.  When he talks about death, he explains that people believe in different things and Joanie asks him what he believes.  In a touching moment, Cole explains to his daughter that whenever she misses her mother, all she has to do is think about her and she will always be with her.  This moment is truly important, as Cole takes his mother’s advice, understanding that there is no easy fix to this situation, but his purpose now is to be there for his daughter no matter what.

1

“We are just so lucky to be alive.”

Part three of the episode is from Helen’s perspective.  After being shut out of the hospital room for not having a visitor’s pass, Helen finds out that Sierra is pregnant with Vik’s baby and is beyond shocked.  Helen needs a moment away from everyone and confides in Noah.  Helen tells Noah that she doesn’t know if she truly loves Vik the way she is supposed to; especially since it is not the way she loved Noah.  The two continue to confide in each other about Alison and Vik and how they ended up where they are now.  When Helen explains that she thinks she is broken and that Vik deserves better, Noah refuses to let her say this about herself.  While he starts out telling Helen that she is snobby and overbearing, the compliment soon emerges when he says, “I don’t know anyone who’s tougher than you.”  Helen is touched by this and Noah takes it a step further when he says that if he was dying, he would want Helen by his side.  Helen and Noah have come so far and have had so many ups and downs, but this moment was truly something significant for me.  Through it all, these two are still connected and have a bond and friendship that surpasses everything.  While it may not be right for the two of them to be together romantically anymore, it’s clear that they both still care about one another very much.  Noah’s words to Helen clearly help her, as she goes to see Vik and simply whispers to him over and over again, “I love you.”  Helen knows that this is what Vik needs to hear, especially since he began breaking down that he should have listened to her about treatment and that he is not ready to die.  Helen courageously goes to get Sierra in the waiting room and says, “Tell him now.”  Helen understands that this is something that could truly help Vik, proving to be someone who is selfless and caring.  The end of the episode reveals Helen walking up on the rooftop of the building, staring out at the sun and the city.  While I was initially confused and anxious about this scene, I took it as Helen finally opening her eyes and embracing a new day and a life full of possibilities, truly connecting with the concept that she is lucky to be alive.  There are still so many open doors left to explore in this series and I am beyond excited to see the conclusion in season 5.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The Affair below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Younger” season 5 episode 10: “We Accept the Love We Think We Deserve”

Happy Wednesday TV fans!  After watching TV Land’s Younger season 5 episode 10, I realized that it’s important to take our own advice.  Sometimes it’s easier to reflect on what someone else might need or deserve, but what happens when we take a good hard look in the mirror?  Can we truly apply that same advice to our own situation?  It’s important to remember that the person staring back at us in the mirror deserves the same respect as anyone else.  We just have to remember that we are worth it and we do deserve our very own chance at happiness.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “Girls on the Side,” Liza quickly realizes that her secret relationship with Charles is not ideal.  Meanwhile, Josh opens up Inkburg 2.0, Diana meets Enzo’s entire family, and Caitlin introduces her mother to her new boyfriend.  My top 5 moments from Younger season 5 episode 10 are:

5

“He is your father’s age.”

Liza is surprised and excited to run into her daughter, Caitlin, at Josh’s re-opening.  When Caitlin introduces Liza to her new boyfriend, Liza is not thrilled.  Caitlin’s new man is much older than her and also her former English professor at school.  Liza tries to give him a chance and agrees to brunch with them and Josh tags along for moral support.  Liza reminds Caitlin that he is her father’s age and Caitlin hilariously tells her mom that she checked and he is in fact younger than her dad.  Liza doesn’t want to get in the way of Caitlin’s happiness, but she is very worried about this new relationship and how it will impact her daughter.

4

“I just want to acknowledge one person in particular.  She inspired me to not give up so thank you Liza.”

Liza is very excited to attend the launch party for Josh’s grand opening of his new tattoo parlor.  Kelsey had previously told her that he has been trying really hard to impress her, but Liza just wants to be there to show her support for him.  When Josh gives a speech, he focuses entirely on Liza and thanks her for being there for him and never giving up on him.  This moment is truly touching, but it makes it so much harder to shift gears toward Team Charles, especially when Josh wears his heart on his sleeve…of tattoos.  Josh and Liza have had their fair share of ups and downs, but it’s nice to see him take a moment to acknowledge her here.  But is there more to it beyond friendship?  We’ll have to wait and see.

3

“I am too old to fight.”

In this episode, Diana is invited to dinner with Enzo’s entire family and she is beyond nervous.  Enzo’s mother tells her to bring a dish and she enlists the help of Maggie to pull off something spectacular.  When she arrives, Enzo’s mother is pleased with the dish, but this leads to Diana being forced to help her in the kitchen.  Diana is a real trooper and tries to do her very best, but she has had enough when Enzo’s mother scolds her for not using the proper garnish on the Eel dish.  Even though Diana has very strong feelings for Enzo, she is not about to go insane to impress his mother.  Diana courageously stands up to Enzo’s mother after her harsh words and walks out.  Enzo goes after her and tells her that he is going to move to an apartment in Manhattan, which shows that he is not ready to give up on Diana just yet.  After all, he likes to be around strong women and Diana is absolutely worthy of this title.  Arrivederci Enzo’s mom!

2

“You don’t even know what real is.”

It seems like Josh and Liza are getting along very well, but this takes a turn for the worst when Liza decides to confide in him about her relationship with Charles.  Liza tells Josh that she is “trying to be more real,” but Josh tells her that a secret relationship can never be something real and that he was always so open with his feelings for her.  While I was heartbroken for Josh in this moment, I was beyond upset when we see him going to get his dragon tattoo covered up or re-done, which is the tattoo he got for Liza.  Is Josh really ready to permanently remove his attachment to Liza?

1

“Call me when it is.”

After Caitlin comes home upset after her boyfriend made her leave because they could be seen together by a colleague, Liza tells Caitlin all about the lie she has been living.  Caitlin is doubtful at first, but is supportive of her mother.  Liza tells Caitlin that she deserves to be with someone in an open and honest relationship and quickly realizes that she needs to apply this to her own situation with Charles.  She asks Maggie, “What if Charles and I are just a fantasy?”  Maggie hates seeing Liza resort to being someone’s side piece because she deserves so much more.  At the end of the episode, Charles explains why they need to still keep their relationship a secret and that it’s not the right time yet.  Liza courageously tells him to call her when it is, trying to accept the love that she does truly deserve, which is something more than this.  While I was heartbroken to see a setback for Charles and Liza’s relationship, it’s important that Liza doesn’t lose her sense of self-worth along the way.  I’m proud of you Liza!  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Younger below in the comments section.  Thanks so much for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “The 100” season 5 episode 10: “You Can’t Save Someone Who’s Already Dead”

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s The 100 season 5 episode 10, I learned that having a choice is very important and necessary for survival.  It reminds us that we can choose our own path and that there is always another option to turn to.  However, if you take away that choice, hope can shift to desperation, which can prove to be extremely dangerous.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In Tuesday night’s episode, “The Warriors Will,” Octavia begs for Indra and Bellamy to give her another option, but the reality begins to set in that she is going to lose one of them if they fight in the arena.  Meanwhile, Madi begins experiencing memories from other Commanders and Abby’s health takes a turn for the worst, causing her to do the unthinkable.  My top 5 moments from The 100 season 5 episode 10 are:

5

“Your disease vs. mine.”

McCreary takes away Abby’s pills when she refuses to treat him and Abby begins going through withdrawal.  She recognizes that if she doesn’t take her pills soon, she could have a seizure and realizes that she will need to think outside the box to get what she needs.  Abby turns to an unlikely ally in the prisoner, Vincent, who agrees to help her.  Everything seems to be going according to plan until one of the guards notices the bottle and Vincent brutally attacks them, ripping out pieces of flesh with his teeth.  Abby watches in horror, but focuses on getting her fix from the pills.  Abby has always understood the importance of protecting the lives of others as a doctor, but she blocks out her conscience, as her addiction has now reached a new low.  Will Clarke be able to save her from herself before it’s too late?

4

“Give me another option.”

After Bellamy, Indra, and Gaia betray Octavia, she knows that she must put them in the arena if she is going to be respected as a leader.  She understands that she needs to rule with fear especially since Madi has accepted her destiny by taking in The Flame.  In a heartwarming moment, Octavia reveals to Indra that “the day you asked me to be your second was the best day of my life.”  Indra reminds Octavia that the strength was already there and that she may have betrayed “Blodreina,” but she never let down “Okteivia kom Skaikru.”  Octavia begs Indra to give her another option because she doesn’t want to see her family in the arena, but Indra cannot do so, still remaining a true warrior.  Indra explains that she will kill Octavia’s brother and then ask Gaia to take her own life, recognizing that she will need to sacrifice herself for her daughter.  Even though Octavia loves Indra, she cannot bear to lose Bellamy and desperately tries to come up with a way out of this.

3

“There’s no coming back from this.”

When Octavia goes to see Bellamy, she brings up memories of their childhood and talks about games they used to play, proving that she does still have some humanity within her.  Bellamy refuses to take Octavia’s advice about how to take down Indra and says that he doesn’t plan on fighting.  Bellamy is not afraid of his sister and asks her what kind of leader she is and tells her that “The Red Queen” is a joke.  Bellamy explains that she only has two options:  she can call this off and make a deal or watch him die.  Octavia realizes that she is not going to get through to her brother this way, but she still wants to save him because he is her blood.  In a heartbreaking moment, she tells Bellamy that “you can’t save someone who’s already dead,” recognizing that “Okteivia kom Skaikru” is too far gone to change things and that only the ruthless reflection of “Blodreina” remains.

2

“You are my child and I will protect you with my life.”

Clarke takes Madi away from Octavia, recognizing that she is in great danger now that she has accepted “The Flame.”  Madi begins having vivid dreams and memories about Becca Pramheda and sees her being burned alive.  Madi explains that it’s more than nightmares, as she feels what they do and is experiencing everything for herself.  Madi desperately wants to return and fight, recognizing the spark within her burning brightly, but Clarke can’t bear to let anything happen to her.  In a heartbreaking moment, Clarke asks Madi, “Do you see her too?”  Clarke is referring to Lexa and it looks like Madi’s own ascension is bringing up some painful memories that she may not be ready to handle.  It’s important for Clarke to recognize that Madi is different from Lexa; however, and may have a unique path that is necessary to protect others.  Will Clarke be able to allow Madi to blossom as a leader or will she continue to stifle her destiny?  It’s hard not to feel sympathetic toward Clarke in this moment, but Madi’s fate may be out of her control now.

1

“Stay here and die or march with me and live.”

In the arena, Indra and Bellamy begin to fight and Octavia watches anxiously from her throne.  The fight is interrupted by Monty and he announces to the entire arena that the Hydrofarm is up and running and that Octavia kept this information from them.  Monty proves that a farmer can save the day just as much as a warrior and gives everyone something very important:  a choice.  Shouts for “Blodreina no more,” begin to be heard, but Octavia refuses to stand down.  She burns the entire Hydrofarm and takes away the choice of her people, shattering their hope in the process.  At the end of the episode, everyone is forced to follow Octavia to war, as “Blodreina” rises from the ashes, refusing to let “Okteivia kom Skaikru” surface anymore.  War is now inevitable and there is also the threat of the worms that Clarke disposed of, which may have unforeseen consequences for everyone.  Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on The 100 in the comments section below.  Thanks for reading and happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Ash vs Evil Dead” season 3 episode 10 Series Finale: “The Mettle of Man”

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Starz’s Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 episode 10 series finale last night, there is something bitter sweet about the end of one the most brilliant and entertaining shows on television.  While the series may be over, the many adventures of Ash, Kelly, Pablo, and Brandy will always remain “groovy” for us fans.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch the latest episode yet.  In last night’s episode, “The Mettle of Man,” Ash has doubts about accepting his destiny, but receives a motivational speech from his loving daughter, Brandy.  Meanwhile, Pablo goes into the rift to save Kelly and the military arrives, as evil spreads all over the world.  My top 5 moments from the Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 episode 10 series finale are:

5

“You taught me to believe in you and I do.”

In the beginning of the episode, we learn that Kandar the Destroyer has been unleashed on the world to test the “Mettle of Man.”  While Pablo tries to explain that “it’s the final test Jefe,” Ash is having some doubts about his role in all of this.  Brandy refuses to let Ash take a seat on the sidelines and I have to say that Brandy has transformed into quite the bad-ass at the end of the series, refusing to let anyone get in her way.  After all, she is a Williams, just like Ash.  Brandy motivates Ash and tells him, “I don’t know much about this evil dead crap…you’re the savior of humanity so get on your damn feet and own up to who you are.  You taught me to believe in you and I do so please don’t let me down now.”  Even though we have witnessed Brandy kicking some serious deadite ass, this speech to Ash is what truly makes her stand out and is the inspiration that Ash needs to go after Kandar.  Well right after he gets “baked” of course.  In a heart-warming gesture, Ash gives Brandy the necklace he has been carrying around with him since the beginning, passing on his legacy to her, which is beautiful and genuine.  While Brandy tells him that they are in this together, Ash intends on protecting her no matter what.  It looks like Ash finally got the hang of this fatherhood thing after all.

4

Pablo goes through the rift to save Kelly.

Pablo is still being shielded from evil, as they think he is one of them because he is “El Brujo Especial.”  Ash is amused by this and comments that he is just like Kane the wrestler.  Pablo realizes that since the rift is open, he can go in himself and be alright because of his new abilities.  Ash trusts him and Pablo takes the plunge.  He quickly jumps out, but is heartbroken when Kelly doesn’t wake up.  After a few nail-biting moments, Kelly wakes up and Pablo kisses her passionately, causing fans everywhere to cheer.  It’s about time you two!  Kelly keeps her sense of humor alive when she sees her reflection and says, “I look like Keith Richards.”  Whether she is ghostly pale or not, Kelly still looks fabulous and is ready to unleash her fury on the deadites.  Welcome back to the land of the living Kelly!

3

“I’m not running from this one.”

After the Ghost Beaters begin fighting off evil with the military, they jump in a van to get to safety.  Ash comes to the realization that this is the moment where he needs to say goodbye and go at it alone.  He tells Kelly to be the leader now and says, “Pablo, you’re the Jefe now.”  Brandy is begging him not to leave her but he reminds her, “Brandy, I’m doing this for you.”  Ash finally accepts his destiny as “The Savior” and turns to face Kandar, leaving his friends and family behind to protect them.

2

“Ok big boy.  Ashley J. Williams is coming for you!”

Ash quickly makes the decision to jump in one of the military tanks to take on Kandar and comments, “Just like Battle Zone the arcade game.”  After all, how hard could it be to operate a tank?  Ash gets creative with his attack and is locked and loaded with the Kandarian Dagger, using duct tape for good measure.  While I’m not sure this could ever work, we cheer on Ash just the same, hoping that he will be able to take down evil and make it back to his friends.  Ash fires away and takes Kandar down, but not before he lands on top of the tank with Ash still inside.

1

“It’s all gone…”

After the tank is crushed, Ash is dragged away and we see the blurred image of a Knights of Sumeria ring.  Ash is put into some type of chamber and wakes up with white sprinkled through his hair and an upgraded hand, suggesting that he has been asleep for quite some time and is now in a futuristic world.  Ash is greeted by some type of female android who refers to him as “The Savior” and tells him they need to get moving.  After revealing Ash’s beloved car with some upgrades of its own, he begins asking about where Brandy is.  The android explains that she’ll explain on the way and when she asks Ash how he feels, he gives fans a response we can all be satisfied with when he simply says, “Groovy.”  While there are still a lot of questions unanswered about what happened to the world and how far into the future they are, one thing is for certain.  Ash is still alive and kicking and is ready to take on evil once again.  After all, Ash is a “Ghost Beater for life” and so are we.  While the series ends open enough to perhaps take on another movie one day, fans can take comfort in knowing that Ash is still fighting the good fight with his humor intact.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own theories and thoughts on Ash vs Evil Dead in the comments section below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Supernatural” season 13 episode 10 backdoor pilot: “Wayward Sisters”

Happy Friday TV fans! The weekend is almost here, but I find myself needing to discuss the backdoor pilot of “Wayward Sisters” via Supernatural before diving into any other shows.  After watching the CW’s Supernatural season 13 episode 10 last night, I am pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly “Wayward Sisters” introduced itself to the world of Supernatural fans.  These are some “amazing women” and they have somehow managed to create a real connection and believable family in just under an hour.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, we are introduced to the “Wayward Sisters” and learn how they have all come together to fight the good fight to save the world…or at least Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Meanwhile, Sam and Dean take a time out in the “Bad Place,” leaving the demon fighting to the very capable Claire Novak, Sheriff Jody Mills, and the hilarious, Sheriff Donna, to put their sisterhood to the test and save the day.  My top 5 moments from Supernatural season 13 episode 10 are:

5

“D-Train” means business.

After the first twenty minutes or so of the backdoor pilot, I was getting a little antsy, waiting for that light and fluffy humor that Supernatural does so well to emerge.  Well I got what I asked for when Jody calls in back-up and Sheriff Donna shows up with the license plate “D-Train.”  While the girls are not really sure what to make of her, Donna does what she does best.  She jumps right in as if she was part of the family the entire time and brings the basics:  weapons galore and a wonderful sense of humor.  When the monsters from the “bad place” are surrounding them, Donna takes them out one by one as if she is Super Sheriff with a gun.  She quickly teaches Patience how to defend herself and adds a voice of reason when Jody is contemplating jumping through the open portal to protect her family.  Something tells me that Donna will continue to bring on the laughs and is the perfect addition to the “Wayward Sister” family.

4

“I think it just rang the dinner bell.”

While Sam and Dean take a break in the “Bad Place,” they refuse to sit by quietly on the sidelines.  After Dean enjoys some cooked lizard, they realize that they are about to become meals themselves for a very loud monster in the distance.  When they are attacked by the cloaked shadowy figure, a bell sounds and Sam and Dean brace themselves for the worst.  Even though the Winchesters play more of a supporting role here, the episode would not be complete without their commentary on being stranded.  While they seem more bored than worried for their lives, they still recognize the fact that they can’t find the door back to their world.  Maybe they had a plan…or maybe they knew they had left some great friends behind who would save the day.  Either way, we are happy to have Sam and Dean back in one piece.

3

Claire comes through…with a flame thrower.

“Wayward Sisters” seems to be focusing on Claire Novak as the main protagonist.  She is clearly bad-ass or “Biker Barbie,” but Claire needs to learn to think ahead.  Her plan of attack typically involves her busting through a door to get the bad-guys without really thinking about the consequences.  When Patience reveals her vision that Claire is going to die, she initially dismisses it.  Jody is constantly trying to intervene and prove how much she cares about her and Alex, but Claire thinks she is just keeping her from following through on her destiny.  Even though she needs to work on having a plan, she does certainly help out Jody and Donna when they are trapped in a car, surrounded by the monsters from the “bad place.”  She makes quite the fiery entrance with a flame thrower, proving that she is very capable of fighting her own battles.

2

Claire and Kaia go through the door to save Sam and Dean.

Jody comes to the realization that she can’t always be there to protect Claire and the other girls.  She learns to let go and allow Claire to prove that she can be the hero she so desperately wants to become.  In the beginning of the episode, Claire and Kaia instantly have a bond, comparing scars and revealing secrets about how abandoned and alone they feel sometimes.  Claire promises to protect Kaia who takes the jump with her, going through the open door to the “Bad Place.”  They quickly rescue Sam and Dean, but Patience’s vision takes a detour when Kaia jumps in front of Claire to protect her.  Kaia has made the ultimate sacrifice and Sam and Dean have to pry Claire away from her lifeless body to make it back safely.  Claire confides to Jody that she understands why she is the way she is now.  This teaches her a valuable lesson and gives her the motive to keep fighting the good fight…to protect the innocent and to avenge Kaia’s death.

1

“I saved Sam and Dean…WE saved Sam and Dean.”

Claire finally understands the importance of a team…or really more of a family.  She recognizes these “amazing women” surrounding her at the dinner table and truly sees the importance of sticking by the ones you love.  Claire says that her “family is her army,” and she is absolutely right.  Sam and Dean came together after they lost their father and recognize that their bond as brothers is the most important thing in the world.  They will always try to do good, supporting each other along the way.  Claire now also sees that this is the key to her destiny and that she is not alone in the fight.  She will stop the cloaked shadowy figure that ended Kaia’s life no matter what it takes.  The end of the episode gives us a surprise twist, however; revealing that the shadowy figure is Kaia, but what does this mean?  Does Kaia have a doppelganger?  Is this the real Kaia?  While we are not exactly sure just yet, it definitely leaves Supernatural fans wanting to see more of the “Wayward Sisters.”  Overall, the backdoor pilot did a good job of introducing fans to a familiar premise, a great music soundtrack, and some truly remarkable women that we can learn to root for just like the Winchester Brothers.  While we may not find out until May 2018 if we can expect a fall premiere of the spin-off series, I am hoping that we are able to give these ladies a chance to shine.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Supernatural  and “Wayward Sisters” below.  Happy viewing!

Best,

Amy Koto, TV Fanatic Girl

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Riverdale” season 2 episode 10 mid-season premiere: Dangerous Liaisons

Happy Thursday TV fans!  After watching the CW’s Riverdale season 2 episode 10 last night, I am so beyond thrilled that one of my favorite shows on television is back with new episodes.  The episode did a great job of tying up some of the loose ends and unanswered questions from the mid-season finale.  Worlds collided and new characters and agendas were introduced, proving that the drama is nowhere near over for RiverdalePlease note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Chapter Twenty-Three:  The Blackboard Jungle,” Veronica happily embraces her new productive role within the Lodge family business.  Archie is approached by an FBI agent and Cheryl learns that her mother is happy being a “woman of the night.”  Meanwhile, South Side High is officially closed; bringing everyone together for a happy reunion at Riverdale High, but Jughead is not ready to conform just yet.  Betty decides to track down her last chance at family after a disappointing visit from Polly, which could be the most dangerous decision of all.  My top 5 moments from Riverdale season 2 episode 10 are:

5

South Side & Riverdale High Schools collide.

In the beginning of the episode, it is revealed that the mayor is shutting down South Side High School because of dangerous fumes from a meth lab in the basement along with other issues involving drug trafficking.  Where will Jughead and the Serpents go to school?  You guessed it…Riverdale High School.  While some students don’t seem to care very much about the change, others take a stand on both sides, refusing to share their space with their enemies.  While this decision to bring all the students together created its own sense of drama and chaos, the real question still remains as to what the Lodge family has to gain from this?  Mr. and Mrs. Lodge clearly desire the land underneath South Side High School but why?  Are they making a play to take over the entire town?  Who will get stepped on in the process?

4

Cheryl crashes the Welcoming Committee.

Veronica eagerly steps up to lead the Welcoming Committee, hoping to make a good impression on her parents and the entire student body.  She even convinces Archie to help with it as well to keep the peace.  Everything seems to be going well until Cheryl and some other angry students storm in, refusing to welcome the South Side students with open arms.  Veronica comically refers to Cheryl as “Facist Barbie,” but Cheryl is unaffected by this, labeling the South Side students as “ragamuffins.”  She tells Archie that he is on the wrong side and even attempts to black-mail him, revealing that she witnessed the secret kiss he shared with Betty.  Cheryl proves once again to be the classic mean girl we adore, refusing to sit by on the sidelines.

3

“A Serpent never sheds his skin.”

You would think that Jughead would be excited to return to Riverdale High School.  Even though he and Betty broke up, all of his friends are there and it’s not like he has been gone that long.  When the Serpents cross paths with Cheryl and the jocks, Jughead is beyond frustrated.  After a student paints graffiti on the school emblem, the principal makes the quick and rash decision to ban the Serpent jackets from school.  Toni and some of the others are fine with the decision, happy to have new computer labs and a legitimate chance at a good education, but Jughead becomes more and more angry, refusing to comply.  After he refuses to take off his jacket, he gets in a fight and is suspended.  Jughead eventually comes around and decides to form a club so that they can still get together on campus, without revealing that they are a gang.  He explains that it will be their “safe haven” and that they will be “lying low in the tall grass.”  What exactly is Jughead planning?  Has he gotten in too deep with the Serpents?

2

Betty finds her brother.

Betty is surprised to find Polly in her bedroom, picking up a few things and nonchalantly sharing the news that she had the twins already.  When Polly goes back to the farm without even staying to say hello to their parents, Betty is feeling hurt and abandoned by her sister, causing her to put her Nancy Drew skills to the test once more.  Betty is not good at sitting still, always diving into a new mystery to solve, refusing to take a minute to actually deal with her feelings.  She tracks down the address of her brother, Charles Smith and lets her parents know that she wants to go and meet him.  While Betty’s father wants no part of this, Mrs. Cooper visits Betty later that night and confides to her that she does want to meet her son.  When they walk through the seedy motel to find him, Mrs. Cooper latches onto Betty’s arm, as if the infestation and filth will seep through their bubble of perfection.  After meeting Charles or “Chic” as he likes to be called, Betty and Mrs. Cooper are horrified by his lifestyle and surroundings, feeling somewhat responsible for his current conditions.  After Betty returns to check in on Chic, she finds him being attacked and stabbed.  Betty saves the day with Pepper Spray, proving once again that she is not one to mess with.  After taking Chic home, the Cooper family helps stitch him up and gives him a place to stay, but did they just “let another monster in?”  Clearly there is something not right with Chic, especially after we see him standing over Betty’s bed in a beyond creepy way.  Archie is not so sure they got the right bad guy…so is it possible that Chic is the real Black Hood?  I’m thinking yes, but we will have to wait and see what this new character has in store for Riverdale.

1

Archie begins spying for the FBI.

At the end of the mid-season finale, Archie was clearly being watched, as someone took secret photos of him.  We now learn that this was Agent Adams who works for the FBI and is seeking Archie’s help to be the inside man spying on the Lodge family.  While Archie is hesitant about this at first, he soon realizes the importance of protecting his father and his girlfriend, Veronica.  His first mission is to find out what really happened to Nick St. Clair, as the FBI has reason to believe that Mr. Lodge is responsible for his “accident” and is heavily involved in “organized crime.”  After Archie learns that Nick also tried to attack Veronica, he is beyond angry.  Archie proves to be the white knight coming to the rescue of both Veronica and Cheryl, paying Nick a surprise visit to get the check that Cheryl deserved.  Archie lets his emotions get in the way, however; punching and attacking the already injured Nick several times before leaving.  Archie is warned about this and realizes that he cannot let his emotions get in the way again if he is going to be successful with his mission.  He now feels ready to do what needs to be done:  to take down the Lodge family and assist the FBI.  Archie even comes clean with Veronica and tells her about the kiss he shared with Betty, truly wanting a fresh and honest start with his girlfriend and reminding himself that he will do anything to protect her…even if means bringing down her own family in the process.  Is Archie in over his head?  Most likely, but I’m rooting for him just the same.

I hope you enjoyed the list and feel free to post your own thoughts and theories on Riverdale below.  Happy viewing!

Ranking the top 5 moments from “Shameless” season 8 episode 10: Fiona buys a chair

Happy Monday TV fans!  After watching Showtime’s Shameless season 8 episode 10 last night, I am left contemplating the Golden Rule, which says that you should “treat others the way you want to be treated.”  In other words, you need to be nice to others and do the right thing if you want the same in return.  However, what happens when you live by the Golden Rule and even go out of your way to do the right thing…only to get stomped on in return and sued for six million dollars?  Poor Fiona.  Please note spoilers are ahead if you have not gotten a chance to watch yet.  In last night’s episode, “Church of Gay Jesus,” Fiona is enjoying living on her own and attempts to pay it forward to a family in need.  Kev and V decide to coach Svetlana on how to find a rich husband, Debbie takes a night-time welding job which sounds “sketchy,” and Lip tries to deal with his grief.  Meanwhile, Ian embraces his new calling with open arms while Frank and Liam attempt to turn it into a new business scheme.  My top 5 moments from Shameless season 8 episode 10 are:

Lip attempts to deal with his grief.

When Lip decides to go check in on Professor Youens in jail, he is in for a horrible shock when he learns that he died that past week.  All of Lip’s emotions that had been bottled up for so long come rushing to the surface as he desperately tries to deal with his grief.  When Lip goes to Professor Youens’s home, he runs into his daughter there who tells him she’s got it handled.  Part of Lip’s diversion from drinking has involved his constant distractions to help those around him.  He returns home and tries to come up with the words to a truly representative eulogy and even crosses out the word “professor” and replaces it with “friend.”  As Lip listens to tons of students get up and tell similar stories about how Professor Youens was like a father to them or believed in them when no one else would, Lip crumples up the eulogy and walks out.  He releases all of his anger and takes it out on the motorcycle he has been working so hard on, unable to control the swirl of emotions rushing around inside him.  Later in the episode, Professor Youens’s daughter gives him an unfinished recommendation letter she found about Lip, revealing that he was “amazed by his mind.”  She offers to give the letter to Lip, thinking it may provide him with some sense of comfort, but Lip is still too angry to take it.  It seems like nothing is going right for Lip these days, but he still holds on to his sobriety in the face of everything he has had to deal with, becoming someone truly worthy of that recommendation letter.

After setting up an online profile for Svetlana, Kev and V are horrified by her actions on her first date, which involve an outfit mostly covered in fish-net and ending in a punch in the face.  Kev and V try to “coach” Svetlana on “etiquette” and how to behave on a date, suggesting smiling as an easy first step.  “What is the point of smiling?” Svetlana asks, not falling for the bait.  Kev and V realize that their best hope of finding Svetlana a rich husband is to have her wear a microphone and earpiece so Kev can talk her through what to say.  Svetlana seems reluctant at first, but Kev reminds her that “this is spy shit.  It’s in your DNA!”  After the code words fail and Kev realizes he forgot to test the microphone, he is still confident that his words of wisdom will help Svetlana.  However, Svetlana takes off her ear piece and goes back to what she knows best…grabbing the man’s “goods” and seeing where this will take them.
